Looks like Barcola is done, Ornstein confirmed agreement in principal 100m upfront, 20 in add-ons.
I imagine we'll sell Gakpo and get a 2nd winger in now. What worries me is Isak is very injury prone and selling Gakpo leaves us with no number 9s.
Any ITK know if we are going to go for a striker at all? I know it was confirmed that we tried for Enrdrick on loan but that was rejected.

Could it be the case that Liverpool have seen what Spurs have done with Man City - settle for the lower price on Barcola, and we will pay the little bit higher for Mbaye? If the price that is being said has been agreed, that's a lot lower than PSG wanted. Interesting to see if anything happens with Mbaye now.

I don't believe it, DjimiT says we've walked away and that Barcola is London-bound; Arsenal is his preferred club, and as Djimi himself has stated on multiple occasions, "Everything he says is 100% correct."

Personally, I'd keep Gakpo for now and concentrate on a DM, a LB and a RB. Gakpo offers better cover at LW and 9 than any of our starters in DM, LB and RB. They are areas with a real issue at the moment.

Signing Barcola but letting Gakpo go doesn't really improve our chances of success this season imo, as it creates a different problem for us (no flexibility or cover at CF).
Barcola is better than Gakpo for sure, but we need both at this stage of the transfer window.

Seems it has been done for a while, as we have been told, but PSG wanted it done late due to tax and FFP (or whatever it's called these days) purposes. Similar happened with Donnarumma to City.

@sofa_fan, Liverpool have told PSG what they wanted to pay, media exaggerated that! The fee was agreed a while ago. It was the upfront payment and structure of payment that was holding it back, but now that has been sorted.

Why sell Gakpo, one of the better preseason performers. Scored at the weekend. Love him or hate him, each season he gets assists and goals. Why strengthen a rival and if they paid £85m for Savio with his record, anything less than £100m is a joke.

Iraola said the other day that he sees Gakpo as centre forward cover, so why would he sell him? Iraola needs 4 quality wisemen, so I think we'll get Barcola plus another alongside Munoz and Rio.
Isak and Gakpo rotating up top until Ekitike arrives. Iraola uses subs, especially in wide positions, every game. I'm not sure Rio suits what he requires out of possession. I also think we'll get a midfielder.

Great to hopefully see the end to the saga. Only positive now is we have less than a week to endure the next one if there is to be another signing... fingers crossed we can get an Mbaye and a centre mid / right full, but at least Barcola will bring pace.
Fair play to all the ITK, definitely special mention for Vic, who, if memory serves me correctly, called Barcola when it looked like Diomande was on the way.
Keep posting, DjimiT, even if you're trashing my username in the process, I enjoy the posts tbf. That's what the site is all about.

I was worried that selling Gakpo would leave us short up top. It still will, but I don't think he's very good up there anyway.
We just need another player to be able to rotate with Isak to keep him fresh. That doesn't need to be another #9 if our wingers are quick enough to cause problems. Maybe Wirtz or Koumas are the temporary answer, but I'd rather bring someone else in, if possible.

With the options that are left available for the right wing spot, I'd honestly rather we kept hold of Gakpo and made do with Rio/Munoz/Barcola for the RW position. The versatility that Gakpo provides is just too hard to replace at this point, especially with Isak a constant injury worry.

Isn't "Gakpo being sold" just poor Sky reporting as they cannot cope with us having more than 1 LW (but other teams can) and that we have no RW (conveniently overlooking that Munoz was signed for RW)?
