Lots of people might not agree but as long as ekitike comes back next season as good as before I would sell Isak and play koumas as back up. I've not been impressed at all with isaks work rate.
I think koumas has more ability than most give him credit for. Buy a number 6 and 2 full backs to rotate or compete. With another midfield option szboslai could rotate more with Wirtz.
15 Oct 2026 14:49:26
I'm made up for Koumas, but let's not get carried away. He has a grand total of 7 league goals across 2 full seasons in the Championship. Useful as a utility player but not a genuine long term option as backup striker.
15 Oct 2026 14:55:49
Or you know you can just have all 3?? The amount of football played in a season is what's 40-50 games there's enough for everyone to get a lot of game time.
15 Oct 2026 15:15:45
I'd like to see Isak run more and score less.
15 Oct 2026 15:16:53
The only concern i have with Isick, apart from his work rate, is the lack of availability since signing him. Apart from that, i think we all know he can finish. With regards to Koumas, it's exiting to see a English striker coming through.
I especially like his attacking drive and hunger, and he knows where the goal is as well. Kloppers is right, in that, there's enough matches to go around, so i'd keep all 3 personally. Midfield needs the attention first and foremost IMO.
15 Oct 2026 15:20:26
Isick!!
15 Oct 2026 15:48:15
Lewis Koumas is Welsh.
15 Oct 2026 15:57:15
I don't think Isak's work rate is bad at all. It's about trying to get rid of the bad habits implemented by Slot ball. All of our strikers seemed to do the same thing when he was in charge, stand in the middle just outside the box whilst being completely uninvolved in everything around them.
As if the ball was supposed to reach them by pure telekinesis.
15 Oct 2026 15:59:17
Isak, Ekitike, Koumas, Danns, Wright. Has to be the one position where we are the strongest in the league in terms of depth.
15 Oct 2026 16:35:42
Danns has been out of the picture for a while. What's happening with him?
15 Oct 2026 16:42:36
JK, ? me too mate!
15 Oct 2026 17:04:56
My only concern with Isak is fitness. I think he is well able to press and is a clever presser tham most think. He done it well for Newcastle but they did take him off at the 70 minute mark a lot. One of the many reasons why i was never overly worried about him and Hugo in the building together. There is plenty of games for them to rotate and now both of their bodies need it. In this system i think they could play well together ocassionally too btw.
Id be happy to keep Koumas- love the kid but let's not be ridiculous Isak is a BELTER well round number 9 and is leagues ahead of Koumas.
15 Oct 2026 18:03:08
If Isak ran about like Chiesa and didn't score any more the. I think everyone would be happy. I would like to see Endo save more shots. He is awful at nets.
15 Oct 2026 18:43:53
Danns was injured for a long while I believe. I was hoping to see a bit more of him with Isak, Gakpo, and Eki all being out.
15 Oct 2026 19:29:54
@The 5th Element - Koumas was born in England. Chester in fact. Grew up in England, That makes him English as far as i'm concerned, albeit to a Welsh father.
15 Oct 2026 20:03:21
Work rate as a skill. Classic.
15 Oct 2026 22:00:31
TIB, perhaps you should have a word with Koumas and ask him why he sees himself as Welsh and wishes to represent his country.
15 Oct 2026 22:00:48
Koumas looks a LOT cuter with long hair. No one can deny.
15 Oct 2026 22:01:44
By that logic Bulk, John Barnes is Jamaican and not English?
15 Oct 2026 22:21:20
Crazy to want to sell Isak: he is a lethal striker. People have short memories: Bobby was pretty anonymous in key finals, and we all wanted a proper striker back then.
If all fit, we have a terrifying front line.
And a pretty great midfield, and back four.
The issue for me is that we get results away, but struggle at home. Something has gone really wrong with Anfield - it's all very like watching Spurs at home: just so silent, 'and then we monster down on a player who makes an error.
Klopp was often cross about it; we
need to fix it.
15 Oct 2026 23:45:03
You can qualify for a country that you aren't born in, can't you?
Not just footy either. My fave was Zola Budd, who lasted about 20 minutes as a British citizen, although to her great credit during that time, the girl did manage to trip up the insufferable US of A golden girl, Mary Decker in the Olympics.
However, I digress, just to be clear, Lewis Koumas was born in Chester, Chester is in England, ipso facto Lewis Koumas is English. He just happens to want to play for Wales.
16 Oct 2026 00:50:00
Before Ekitike's injury, I was saying on here that the club will need to make a decision about selling one of them in the next couple seasons.
they are competing pieces, not complimentary.
So I fully agree. I would sell Isak.
16 Oct 2026 04:40:53
Funny people on here mansplaining why Koumas is English when he himself considers himself Welsh, hence he has decided to play for Wales.
16 Oct 2026 07:07:24
@TFE, just to be clear, do you believe that Chester is in Wales?
Koumas can actually think he is Nigerian if he wishes but it doesn't alter the fact that he is English
Sorry if I'm mansplaining, does that make you 'a lady of the opposite sex', as someone once said? I ask because my wife, whose dad was in the RAF and was stationed at a number of places, was born in Edinburgh but still insists 45 years after I first met her that she's English because her parents were English.
In the real world it actually doesn't matter but I just find it funny.
16 Oct 2026 07:31:43
Your married??
16 Oct 2026 08:16:33
The first question would be does Isak trust his body enough to run gungho 3 games in 2wks? Like we all know he is a little made of glass.
Like how much does Haaland run for City? They rarely do. Just make yourself useful and put the ball in the net would be fine for me and Isak can do that. I still think Minteh can do a lot for us up front with regards to pressing.
Honestly, I really can't stand another £100m signing anymore. Go for the players that suits the manager and develop them, it's the LIV way.
16 Oct 2026 08:59:07
If someone is born in England, to a English mother, and grows up in England, that makes him English. Is his place or birth Wales? No it isn't. At least 18 people seem to think that Chester is in Wales.
It's really quite embarrassing. Koumas can believe he's Welsh if he wants, a bit like i'm Irish on paddys day. Doesn't alter the facts though does it.
16 Oct 2026 09:01:51
so let me get this straight everyone has moaned about options in positions and the census is oh yeah you'll need to sell Isak soon he's competing with Hugo?? what kind of logic is that? number 9 does not need to be touched for years as far as I'm concerned you have Isak>Hugo>Koumas>Danns>Wright you wanted competition for places no?
16 Oct 2026 09:27:46
Lewis Koumas is a British national. ?
He represents Wales at football.
Surely it's up to him whether he wants to be regarded as English (his birth place) or Welsh (his heritage).
16 Oct 2026 09:30:30
@DenP ??? although I think you meant you're married ?.
16 Oct 2026 09:47:01
People hating on Isak & Barcola are hilarious to me, Isak is one of if not the most leathal strikers out there and will prove his worth easily, Barcola didn't have a pre-season after a long world cup, like how impatient & clueless can someone be.
16 Oct 2026 09:54:22
@The 5th Element - Koumas was born in England. Chester in fact. Grew up in England, That makes him English as far as i'm concerned, albeit to a Welsh father.
Being born in England to Greek Cypriot parents. I count myself as a British Cypriot. So have dual nationality.
It does work both ways, even though born in the UK (my mother was too), it does not stop a lot of British people still saying I am a foreigner due to my surname. At the same time the Cypriots also say I am English due to my native tongue and broken up greek language when spoken.
A number of my friends had dual nationality too, with the having both English and Swiss/Irish/Italian passports. Where your parents are from does form part of your heritage.
In fact, Jason Koumas had the option to represent England, Cyprus or Wales and went with Wales. Having been born in Wrexam to a greek cypriot dad and English mum.
16 Oct 2026 10:37:53
I don't understand that statement sell Isak when Ekitike is fit.
Isak is a good level above Ekitike last season him doing the odd good thing when we was so bad just made him look better than he was.
Ekitike has a long way to go before being good enough to be our main striker he 8/10 makes the wrong decision he is not very good at pressing as well so don't think he will bring an improvement on Isak on that and he is nowhere near as good a finisher as Isak.
As everyone has noticed this season our best player last season Szoboszlai is not as good as everyone thought in midfield.
Being the best off a bad bunch last season does not make you great.
We are 6 games in and all the players are learning how AI wants us to play Isak does not have to press like a monster just a slight improvement in all aspects of his game and big improvements on fitness levels of most of the squad as the season goes on will bring massive improvements don't take Sundays game into account city had a full squad to chose from we had a lot of injuries but was still the better team till there 12th man impacted the game.
16 Oct 2026 11:14:42
Wolverine, I don't think that Mac is a particularly foreign sounding surname? More Scottish really.
16 Oct 2026 10:22:34
Ron Keague - You don't just decide what nationality you are because you feel like it. That's not how it works. I know it's popular for people these days to wake up and decide they're a cat, a brick, or a transmutated amoeba, but that does not change anything. The Guy is English, end of.
16 Oct 2026 12:20:13
@Zeddicus - Mac comes from my first dog named Mac for short as wife's maiden name is MacDonough.
16 Oct 2026 12:22:23
@The Incredible Bulk - What does that make Halaand? Michael Olise? Antoine Semenyo?
16 Oct 2026 12:27:56
TIB - I think you'll find his "nationality" is British.
16 Oct 2026 13:14:56
WolverineMac - What do you think it makes them?
Ron Keague - My nationality is British too, born in England, so i'm English, as well as British. The same applies for Koumas.
Come on guys, it's not that difficult.
16 Oct 2026 15:20:47
No one ever wanted peak Bobby replacing - he is a Jurgen GOAT.
16 Oct 2026 16:36:23
The Incredible Bulk - I would have thought that Haaland considers himself as a British Norwegian. No doubt he has both passports.
Talking personally, I see myself as both Cypriot and British. Having been born in the UK, bought up with Cypriot values and the culture and spending many summers with family in Cyprus too during the holidays.
16 Oct 2026 16:40:42
I think this is the view taken by the government. Being born in the UK gives no automatic birthright citizenship: Since January 1, 1983, being born in the UK does not automatically make you a British citizen. Hence why undocumented or non-British families: If born in the UK to parents who do not have legal status or citizenship, you are not automatically a British citizen and face removal or deportation.
So I guess they have no right to calling themselves British.
17 Oct 2026 11:41:41
Having the two of them, assuming they're both at full fitness, will take away from each other
There is no chance they return anything near the number of G/As what we've paid for and will continue to pay for
They're competing pieces not complimentary.
It'd make sense to sell one, preferably Isak, and use the funds elsewhere - either a backup or just put faith into Koumas / Wright, Danna etc.
17 Oct 2026 13:23:09
Koumas has done nothing to suggest he is, or is going to be good enough to lead Liverpools front line. Nowhere near either Ekitike or Isak and if either were injured does anyone really see him leading the line over multiple games?
Suggesting to sell either is crazy.
Koumas would not get in any of the "top six" teams.
Lets Just give him and others time to develop.
17 Oct 2026 17:27:25
Isak will score goals. His output is not a problem but he stifles out every other attacking outlet because he will always be in the centre. He doesn't press and tue movement of the ball is just not there.
He will still score when he starts but we will score more whenever he doesn't start.
17 Oct 2026 22:42:45
We do realise that Chester is 15 miles at most from Wrexham where the Koumas family run a chippy and have done for some time. Do you not think he spent a little time around Welsh culture? Or do you think the doors shut for him when he was born. Such a pedantic argument.
18 Oct 2026 14:15:59
He chose Wales because it is easier to get in their team.
