In you opinion, who's better Guehi or Konate?
20 Jun 2025 13:27:56
Konate and jt jsnt even close.
20 Jun 2025 13:31:30
Konate for me, but I also think Konate is very much upgradeable. he has a number of issues with his game.
20 Jun 2025 13:31:42
Konate.
20 Jun 2025 13:36:39
Guehi isn't even good, I wouldn't have him in a top 4 side - I've seen plenty of him and he's full of mistakes. It does look like we'll sign him though and considering recent transfers, I trust the club with who they want. I just don't see what he adds but what do I know? Konate is much, much better. It's not even up for debate.
20 Jun 2025 13:51:55
Horses for courses in my opinion. Guehi is better in games where you will try to dominate possession because he’s better on the ball. If you’re under the cosh then Konate is a better penalty area defender as he’ll throw himself in front of a shot and win more headers. If you need a goal late on, Guehi is better at scoring headers from offensive set pieces though, because Konate has a head like a 50 pence piece. Both are good at defending in a high line as they’re both extremely quick.
I don’t think there is much to split them. Not an upgrade in my opinion but also not really a downgrade. Guehi reminds me a lot of Pacho at PSG and he isn’t bad. I just don’t think Guehi is at Virgil’s level, but then not many players are. Maybe Van Dijk has raised the bar or maybe we’ve just got red tints on regarding Konate. He was very much a weak link at times. His ridiculous decision making allowed Dembele to tap into an empty net as PSG knocked us out of the CL.
20 Jun 2025 13:51:57
Sky Sports are reporting we are unlikely to sign him because if he moves he wants assurances that he’ll be a starter.
If that’s true then I don’t want him. It’s not up to us to guarantee you a starting spot mate it’s up to you to work your ass off to make sure you’re a starter.
If that’s what he wants he’s better staying where he is.
20 Jun 2025 13:54:02
Konate, but that's not a knock at Guehi. I think Konates in the top handful of CB's in the league. To say Guehi isn't even good is just silly, and while not good enough for me to be starting for us he'd be a great 3rd or 4th CB option. And he's certainly good enough to start for at least 3 of the 6 English Champions lge teams in Spurs, Chelsea and Newcastle. With 12 months left makes sense financially too.
20 Jun 2025 13:58:00
Konate
More relevant question is probably Quansah or Guehi as it looks like one replaces the other?
20 Jun 2025 13:59:06
Or the club are protecting themselves in case Konate won’t sign a deal yet.
CB options of VVD, Konate, Guehi, Gomez + a new younger coming is very good.
20 Jun 2025 14:03:11
Perhaps Konate has no intention of signing (sorry if he has signed an extension and I’ve missed it) and we are looking to try and move him on?
20 Jun 2025 14:03:39
Konate is streets ahead. And I don’t even massively rate Ibou.
20 Jun 2025 14:05:32
Say what you want about Ghuehi but he is prem proven, captain of Palace so is a leader, only 24 years old, is a great passer of the ball, both footed and statistically was the 3rd best centre back in the league last season.
20 Jun 2025 14:08:27
Neither are top class, konate is average at best when vvd not playing.
20 Jun 2025 14:10:02
Ibou big bad ibou but if slot wants guehi then he gets my backing.
20 Jun 2025 14:12:23
Konate.
Those issues with Konate are more of him looking for higher wages and delaying signing than issues/ mistakes on the field.
20 Jun 2025 14:24:53
You trust the club now, Salah? Even with the same 'clowns' still responsible for transfers?
What's changed since last season, mate?
20 Jun 2025 14:30:36
Recent update is that Guehi is an unlikely signing.
20 Jun 2025 14:45:28
How good is Guehi? Utd have persevered with Maguire that’s how good he is.
20 Jun 2025 14:47:34
Spot on, Salah. Really if Guehi looks "good" to people when playing in an ultra defensive formation (sometimes 5 at the back) then, he has NO chance of looking average in a team that plays as open a style as we do, a system Konate thrives in. There is no debate here, IMO. Konate, all day, every da and 30 times on Sunday.
20 Jun 2025 14:55:27
Konate but neither are as good as Diomande so Palace look like the winners in this case.
20 Jun 2025 14:56:07
Guehi is an upgrade on Gomez and Quansah.
I wouldn’t see him as an upgrade on Konate.
We get to see Ibou play next to VVD every week and perhaps that elevates his game and makes him look better - in fact I’m certain it does.
Whereas Guehi plays in a mid table side and not next to Virgil.
It’s hard to compare them really as centre backs operate in pairs and it’s how they compliment each other that matters most of the time.
VVD makes every partner he plays with look better than they are frankly.
20 Jun 2025 14:57:09
What's changed? They've started doing their jobs mate. Do you not see the change from this window to the last two? Maybe you think the last two transfer windows were good?
20 Jun 2025 16:14:18
Salah, you mean the last two windows before we won the League, mate?
They were ok if uneventful, I suppose.
I get that brining in players for the sake of it might be your thing, though. City 'smashed it' in January but didn't win a thing, did they?
Each to their own, mate.
20 Jun 2025 16:16:23
Guehi is a better passer (his analytics put him even ahead of Virgil in that category) and this gaffer values passing. He is weaker in the air and duels (70%) .
ps I would not listen to Sly Sports as they are London and Manc centric.
20 Jun 2025 16:44:50
There you go again, Rigsby repeating the same thing on a loop. Honestly, it's pointless trying to have a discussion with you. You never bring anything new to the table. Still clinging to that one comment from January, I see ?.
20 Jun 2025 16:59:28
Konate all day of the week and sign Lukeba instead.
20 Jun 2025 17:28:15
Sorry, Salah, I wasn't trying to embarrass you but I thought you'd get my point.
You were disappointed with our last two transfer windows- even though we had a title winning squad already in place- but maybe the two quiet windows have allowed us to do the sort of business we are now doing. You know, signing the right sort of players instead of just bringing bodies for the sake of it.
I know you were desperate for a left back in January because Robbo was struggling. If we'd signed someone like Dorgu, who was available, we might not be able to go for Kerkez.
The same with Marmoush and Wirtz.
You need to be more patient, mate.
20 Jun 2025 18:07:53
Ibou's main quality is his aggression, as well as the fact that he is a very mobile player for his size, he has pace as well to cover ground when the full backs bomb on. He is a very proactive defender and backs himself in every one on one duel. Having him, Virgil and grav suits the way we play perfectly for the most part. Guehi is okay if we are on the front foot, but then again quansah was most comfortable when he didn't need to defend and we were pinning the opposition back, so I guess I sort of understand why we would want that kind of center back to replace him. That being said, he is in no way an upgrade on konate and is even a pretty big downgrade in my opinion.
20 Jun 2025 18:08:52
Im sure if we could have got Kerkez in January we would have but we couldn't so we did what we should do, we kept calm and waited till the summer to get our No.1 target just like we did with Virg back in the day. More great work outa Arne and Hughes.
21 Jun 2025 02:56:21
You're not embarrassing me, Rigsby. I post here daily, multiple times, and the best you’ve got is still that one comment from January? Says it all, really. After months of your odd little obsession with me, I’d have thought you’d have more to go on.
