"I'm a scouser, I feel that the four games that we lost hurt me more"

"I made sure tonight that I just run first of all to try bring an energy to the team so the lads go and press. I was vocal more, I made sure we came away with a win"

And that is precisely why Curtis should be in the squad, and arguably the team at the moment, because that sort of attitude is something we have been badly lacking.

Good watch his interview - quite pointed.

23 Oct 2025 22:54:19
That's why he should be vice captain.

23 Oct 2025 23:03:24
I feel like it’s very important to reward Curtis and Chiesa starts in the Line Ups.

When you play well, and someone in your place is having a stinker, you should keep your Spot in the 11

Ekitike plays well, dropped for Isak. Chiesa plays well doesn’t get picked. Szobo hits form and currently is our best midfielder, Gets demoted to right back.

It’s not setting the right standards if we’re not playing the inform players. Same Team Saturday please Arne ??.

23 Oct 2025 23:40:16
The things he is talking about are things he should be doing anyway. He's 24.
"I made sure we came away with a win".
Well done, Curtis.

24 Oct 2025 04:21:51
Well he was the best player on the pitch besides Dom, and still there are folks on here who don't think he will ever be good enough for us.

24 Oct 2025 06:09:03
It’s definitely a valid point we need that tough steelyness you only get with scousers and the scots.

24 Oct 2025 08:13:17
Coulred Scousers and Scots, I've read it all now. ? Just to be impartial, let's add the Argies in to the equation ? ignorant post mate.

24 Oct 2025 08:18:56
Time for him to start play consistently well, staying fit and having strong performances in 8/ 10 games, retain his place and still have an impact on games when he's not at his best. Otherwise it's all mouth and no trousers.

24 Oct 2025 08:24:34
Ever seen a game of Gaelic Football or Hurling @Coulred ??.

24 Oct 2025 08:29:20
PB, would you have Jones in your first eleven for us?
For me, he's a squad player and always will be. That's not a criticism and I said in the summer that I'd keep him instead of Elliott. But he can't regularly be in the first eleven.
What wouldn't be fair to Jones is to build him up again after a game against a team that was more open than we are!
He seems a decent lad, he's not a bad player but let's not expect him to be the next Steve McMahon because we put five past a team that concedes so many goals.

If Jones goes to City or Arsenal, he doesn't start and that's where we are, at the moment.

24 Oct 2025 08:31:28
Two of the best midfielders I've seen in the PL are Roy Keane and Patrick Viera.

24 Oct 2025 09:04:23
I'd say that in Grav, Dom, Wirtz, Macca and Jones we have 5 good players to fill the 3 spots. We need one more of that level imo but in terms of Jones i wouldn't say he is too far away from any of the others listed in his overall game.

Was excellent the other night and when he came on against Man U. Needs to stay fit now.

24 Oct 2025 09:37:16
Jones is a really nice lad but not Top 5 Prem level. Sorry he just is not.

24 Oct 2025 09:40:22
@Rigsby. Tomorrow, Jones would 100% be in my starting lineup. If you're picking a team based purely on ability and disregarding performances then no, like you say, he doesn't make the team but he deserves his place in the starting lineup right now based on his current form versus the likes of Macca. He was excellent when he came on against United and really good midweek too.

We need a bit of momentum so sticking with the team that just spanked Frankfurt as much as possible makes sense and it's likely that we are likely going to need to bring in Bradley and Salah for Frimpong and Isak due to injury. The only other change I would consider would be Kerkez in for Robbo but that is more due to giving Robbos legs a bit longer to recover after the midweek game.

24 Oct 2025 10:29:44
would you play a fit Jones or an un fit Macca,
likewise, would you play an unfit and out of form Isak,
or play a fit and in form Ekitke who is scoring frequently,
Slot needs to give his head a wobble,
for me that has cost us a few points,

24 Oct 2025 10:42:06
Jones starts for me tomorrow, at nearly 25 years old now is the time to go up a level and I for one hope he does. Nobody expected Gravenburch to do what he did last season and maybe Jones can emulate that this season.

24 Oct 2025 10:49:46
Would I have him in my starting 11 consistently? No. But we have so many games I don't think any of our midfielders should be starting every game, except maybe Dom. I do think that he is good enough to start for us, even start for us in big games if need be. When he hits form he is a fantastic player, tactically smart, keeps the ball in small spaces, can progress the ball by keeping and carrying it, he is decently athletic, strong, has legs.

I just have a big issue with people saying he's not good enough to play for us, and not good enough to start games when the need is there.

24 Oct 2025 11:40:16
Can’t believe some of the crap being said here. For me I’m made up when a local lad does well, I hope he becomes captain and wins the lot. Truth be told he made a big difference the other night and when he has come on as sub this season.

Maybe slot has finally found a midfield that works? Sorry for some of you lot who want macca and grav in there instead of him. He’s better than macca always has been. Doesn’t get a look in cos he’s not continental.

24 Oct 2025 11:47:16
All the criticisms fired at Jones are very similar to those fired at Hendon before he became arguably one the most important players in the starting 11, not because of his skill, but his determination and leadership.

Jones has everything in his locker to be our next Henderson, and I say that as a definitive positive, not a negative that some would make it out to be.

24 Oct 2025 11:52:32
Nothing wrong with Jones not being a starting eleven player and just be a squad player imo. And that's where I think he'd remain. If he can accept that then great, I'd be happy to keep him. But if he wants regular first team football, then he'd need to find it elsewhere.

As of now though, Macca is woefully out of form and short of fitness so I'd start him until Macca shows that he has gotten back up to speed. But until then, Jones should play.

24 Oct 2025 11:52:43
My opinion has shifted on Curtis.
For me he is the closest we have in relation to Hendo, that player who brings an energy to the side and makes others play
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that having him in midfield next to Dom saw us play more quickly. - and look better for it.

24 Oct 2025 11:54:00
Fair enough, Redmen.
I can't see why Jones shouldn't start with Grav injured and Mac struggling. That's why I was in favour of keeping him more than I was Elliott.
I still want another midfielder though. One that can play alongside Grav or Mac and that will free up Wirtz and Szoboszlai to get further forward.
I don't want or expect Jones to start every game either (when fit) and become the next Gravenberch.

I don't think he's up to it. That's why he doesn't really disappoint or excite me .
What can happen though is, we build him up again and then we lose or play badly and we knock him down.
That said, I was very sceptical about Grav playing at 6 and said he couldn't do it long term. He's proving me wrong, so far, though. It'd be great if Jones could also do it.

24 Oct 2025 13:54:19
With Curtis, it's historical evidence that makes me doubt whether he'll establish himself as a mainstay rather than talent. He gets injured. And when he is fit struggles for consistency.

It was only last season where he was man of the match against Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen games and then dropped off.

The season before, Klopp's last season, he was our best player, not just best midfielder, until his harsh sending off vs Spurs and after that he didn't get a look in due to injuries, selection and form.

I also find it frustrating that he has not managed to shed his Lallana-esque holding onto the ball too long. While there is a good time and place for protecting the ball and keeping it ticking, he needs to know when to speed it up and release it.

Saying all of that, he's a great squad player and exemplar local lad.

24 Oct 2025 17:28:44
scousejohn, Jones is doing well.
He's a squad player at one of the biggest clubs in the world. It's not a criticism but that's his limit.
Grav and Mac are better players, though. There's little doubt about that, imo.

There's nothing wrong with being behind Grav, Mac, Szob and Wirtz for a starting place and I reckon he knows where he is in the pecking order.
And Mac's not continental either ?.

24 Oct 2025 18:32:08
@Rigsby: macca is crap. He looked good last year because the football was slow. He was crap the year before that. I really hope he goes in the summer to RM. Hopefully get big money we will have no problem improving what he brings to the team. He’s slow too.

24 Oct 2025 19:14:45
So let me get this right, scouse John. We will hopefully get big money, for someone who's crap, from the biggest club in the world? Sound logic.

24 Oct 2025 19:25:20
Well done, Curtis. You did you club and city proud. Onto the next game, lad.

24 Oct 2025 20:18:48
I wouldn’t be Jones biggest fan but I don’t think there’s much doubt that he has been playing better than other midfielders. Just play in man in form, I mean it’s not that difficult. J don’t see the point in playing Macca from the start if he ain’t fully fit.

24 Oct 2025 20:33:41
@rome77, be great if it happened like. was the talk not so long ago they wanted him and he fancies it there? So why not? He’s got to be worth a bit more than we paid for him now having won a league title.

24 Oct 2025 21:51:58
scousejohn, what do you mean 'the football was slow'? Was every game and all the opposition the same?
Anyway, so Macca was crap, we won the League and he made the PFA Team of the Year ?.

24 Oct 2025 22:39:10
A football team is like a piano, you need eight players to carry it and 3 players who can play the damn thing.

Curtis is a good player and has physical attributes to play in the premier league. He’s as loyal as they come. You won’t see him sulking in the media wanting a new contract, you won’t see his agent agitating for a move.

Players like him are underrated by many, not by the likes of Shankly though.

24 Oct 2025 23:20:40
@Rome ssssshhhhhhh!, if we don’t tell then he’s crap we’ll get millions and millions. Keep it under your hat.
