Where does everyone see Endo playing? Could he solve our issues by sitting in a holding midfield role like a 4141 or playing next to Gravenberch. Just let him sit so if we are countered there's an extra midfielder.

Should have been let go and another cdm bought in. I have no concerns about any of the new lads whatsoever, but guehi was talked about for weeks before leaving it till last day, konate not signing a contract also should have pushed the signing.
But cdm is a position that has been needed for 3 yrs minimum. Endo was a stop gap when brought in but hardly the future was he.

Endo has played well 99% of the time he’s put the shirt on, perfect squad player, problem is Slot has no clue what to do with the squad.

Endo was world class under Klopp. Klopp knows how to build players up and use them properly. I don't see that with Slot yet, bar with half a season from Grav.

Fridge, as much as I like Endo, his legs have gone, his last proper outing was against a poor Southampton side and he looked way off the pace, could barely get near a Southampton player and his first touch and passing was getting us into trouble.,

@Dr B, I’ve told people a million times not to exaggerate. Endo is a good, honest professional who was / is a fair way short of being world class. Jurgen was an excellent man manager but he still made mistakes - Kiera, Davies, Melo, Nunez, was Caulker in Jurgen’s rime?

Love jurgen but yeah some of the nostalgia here is a little bit over the top. He was also stubborn as a brick rarely changed his lineup leading to injuries and late season setbacks. He also persisted with a high line which had a lot of negative effects.
Yeah I love jurgen. I'm not trying to diss him. And Arnie deserves criticism too. But let's not act like one was without fault and the other was the worst coach ever.

We're in real deep rubbish if We're relying on Endo to dig us out I'd this hole. We needed a CDM and a CB and everyone knew it. We've wasted money on players who have made the squad worse.

We needed to do a lot of business over the summer and it was a case of prioritisation for us. It would have been nearly impossible to address all the gaps in our squad in just one transfer window. The only player who was a "luxury" was Wirtz but it's not everyday that a player or his quality is available and wanted to come to us so his signing was understandable. We were also in for a CB in Guehi and would have gotten him too if not for Palace pulling out of the deal at the last minute.
I do agree that we still need an LW and preferably a CDM. But we are fully stocked in midfield and players like Endo, Jones or Macca would need to leave to make space for the new CM/ CDM, I feel.

If a squad, collectively worth over a billion, as a conservative figure, can’t adapt to a way of playing it might be worth changing the system to fit the talents of the players available. What am I missing?

Good point Oli. And yes, you're right. We can't change the squad now unless we tap on our youth or fringe players. Moaning about the players we don't have doesn't do anything. And as WDW said, we have talent in this squad that we aren't make full use of.
So what we can do now and is still within our control is to change the system to suit our players and go from there.

Endo is a player that would suit Scottish football at Celtic or Rangers . I do not disrespect Endo by saying that he tried his best with us when he played but was never going to be a starter every game he is rash and gave away silly free kicks bit like Konate .
As for managers making mistakes in their signings there is not one manager who has not made that mistake in the history of football at any level . YNWA.

Fully stocked as in fully stocked with players Vv. I made no mention about their quality, or lack thereof. It is a fact that we have 6 players for three positions in midfield and usually, that would be enough. It is also a fact that not all 6 of those are of the necessary quality.
So if we want more players of good quality in, we'd need to move on some from the current 6 that we have. And given that we had huge gaps in the squad due to departures in the summer, we had to prioritise filling those instead. That's the point I was trying to make.
