Insane that they told Slot that he is out the door, during a period where we are fighting for top 5. Why would you keep a man in charge when you know you are going to sack come end of the season? You are telling him that, no matter what happens, you will be replaced, but keep going until the end of this season, get us into the top 5, and compete in domestic to international competitions. Oh, and just in case you forget, Slot, meet these targets and your reward is the sack.

I am genuinely flabbergasted by the sheer ineptitude of those above.

The man knows he is gone, so why even bother trying. Explains numerous strange comments he made in pressers, the digs at Klopp unprompted, and his refusal to change his tactics in the face of dismal performances and results. He is a dead man walking and he knows it, so he is just going through the motions, which impacts on the players, who are given little motivation and instruction, other than what they can muster themselves (And, outside of Szobo, no players has shown any such desire).

He should have been replaced after the PSV debacle, that was simply unacceptable. I think that was also around the time Carra said that Slot had been told he would be gone. It would have made sense to bring in a short term replacement, someone that could invest the fans and players in something exciting and aid in their push forward towards the end of the season. It really was that simple, rather than persist with this disconnect and dire football we have been made to watch, constantly.

What were they worried about? That the replacement would perform so well, that they would have to make a difficult decision, or so badly that sacking Slot looked like the wrong decision. Instead, they allowed this mire to further stagnate, and the players have been trained out of high energy and invention, instead replaced with lethargy and meandering football that has made this season even more unbearable to watch.

This stagnation has infested every corner of the club, the training looks amateurish and stupid (Seriously, football tennis and catch the medicine ball, what even is that? ), the constant breaks and holidays (Which the players have not earned, and Slot moaned about not receiving due to the schedule, but when he gets the time, he goes on holiday), giving massive contracts to players beyond what they deserve (I'm sorry but 280k a week for Grav, and 250k a week to Gakpo is actually criminal) and our failure to correct blatantly obvious issues in our squad building. That last one is my biggest bug bear, you had an entire year to analyse the team, and see the areas in need of improvement, and out of the 450 million you spent, you didn't buy a DM or an additional centre back. And before anyone jumps on me with Leoni, he was bought to replace Quansah, not to feature prominantely.

With Konate's contract issues, we should have brought someone in to partner Van Dijk, and create a connection that could be strengthened this season and go into the next, before Van Dijk leaves. But, no. We replaced Quansah, played around with Guehi and got burned like the amateurs we are.

As for the DM, we don't have one anymore because Slot persists with playing Grav and Macca up next to the offensive players, leaving a massive gap between the defence and our offensive unit. Not the defensive and our midfield unit, mind you, but the defence and our offensive unit, because our midfield unit doesn't even exist. What even is that? Is Slot so peeved with how the board have treated him that he is trying to completely fracture us so that the next manager has an even greater mess on his hands?

Gonna stop here because I am now just annoying myself, but, when you are laid up with a torn meniscus, and have nothing but time on your hands, there is little else to do but dwell on things.

Fully agree, Mango

Carra (poster) has said that everyone knows he is gone at the end of the season.

How does anyone expect the players to then take him seriously, and to align to his tactics and fully immerse themselves in his project?

It's just a disaster, and how that decision was made is just unbelievable.

And yes, I'm sure someone will pipe up and start talking about pride and playing for the shirt, etc etc etc blah blah blah... but the players are human too, and we can all ask ourselves if we give 100% when we are not happy with our employers / job situations.

This situation is only going to end in tears... for everyone.

I think he wants out anyway, he most probably got a job back in Holland for next season, same as Alonso for us, so he might as well stay n try n go out with a bang. But I agree he should have gone in November, most of us could see how the season would end up.

11 Mar 2026 18:23:51
Hmm...

If managers like Slot were motivated by money, and contract end dates, then the EPL would not have the managers we have. At this level, it is personal drive, personal agency, perfectionism, high intelligence, and a desire to never be beaten, regardless of contract, that drives performance and results.

Slot would be doing this for free, except he happens to be very good at it, and gets paid a lot of money.

He wants LFC to win every game. He is desperate to ensure they win every game.

He is perplexed by the losses, and, equally, has not been supported by those above him buying the kind of players he needed. Rest assured, he is hurting, like the fans. For him, it is a personal reflection on himself. This is the first time in his career. Even if he knows he has to stay to the end of the season, don't you think he is desperate to do all he can to ensure wins?

Suggesting anything else shows an abject lack of understanding of what drives the world's top performers.

Who said that Slot knows he's getting sacked at the end of the season? I consider it to be utter nonsense. This has been discussed before, and I said the same then.

3

11 Mar 2026 22:41:32
Once again, Rome, I agree. Nobody has officially said Slot has been told he's going at the end of the season.

Mango is taking something he read on here as gospel (first mistake), and getting himself all worked up about it.

It's pointless.

We don't know anything about the conversations Slot is having with his bosses, nor do we know the outcome of those conversations, or if any decisions have been made.

Just relax, people.

1

12 Mar 2026 08:11:26
I am relaxed, thank you.
My take: Slot to resign at end of season, but it will be presented as a mutual agreement due to missing home and family. Probably to take the Ajax job.
Xabi Alonso to be the new LFC manager.

Slot out. Get the banners made, get them up at Anfield and show those in power we have had enough of this laughing stock.

Has a title winning team every fell this far.

Get a chat started. Get this guy out or we are sailing to crashing out the last two competitions we are in.

I'm not against this, but you have to admit that it is slightly ironic to be posting and calling for somebody's head in this way when your username is BeKind.

8

11 Mar 2026 14:17:42
BeKind, I'm sure the Slot out banners will help the team no end in crucial home games in our CL quest.

Just not our style, mate, and nothing in the way of sacking him between now & the end of the season will change.

Just got to hope that the players take a bit of responsibility as well & try and give a few performances to achieve it.

Yesssss, let's create a cauldron of shame, that paralyses the manager and the players... to ensure we win no more games! Let us all do that!

Honestly... Really?

Have I stumbled onto the Spurs site?

I think Konate needs to go. He is just not consistent enough.

VVD can play next season along a new Partner. and Leoni / Jaquet can be the new partner or we buy new experienced CB. and also sell Gomez.

Robbo to be let go and replaced only if we think Beck and Chambers are not good enough to be understudy

Frimpong to be backup across right side.
I would wait till Jan assesing Bradley's fitness and form.

We can take koyade as single option for both full back roles.

Salah sadly to leave. maybe get Olise from Bayern or Barcola from PSG. spend big here.
Or go cheap with Bowen for couple of years

Chiesa and Endo to leave for good pf their own carriers.
Macca to be replaced.

So we need 2 Midfielders one CDM and one B2B.
Gomes from Wolves and Baleba would by my pick.

LW ngomoha is young and should only be a backup.
Gapko needs to be replaced by a pacy winger.
Rashford from Man United any1.
I see many options Gordon, Grealish and p. Neto

Stikers no. Change

In Middle we will Have Baleba, Gomes, Slobo, Grav, Jones and Wirtz

Fwd.
Isak, ekitike, Bowen, Gordon, Ngomuha, Frimpong

FB:
Bradley, Kerkez, Koyade, Beck/ Chambers.

CB: VVD, Jacquet, Leoni, Gomez or New CB.

3

11 Mar 2026 10:13:18
Think you have to get a senior CB.

Gomez is not good enough. VD can't have much more in him. And no way can we rely on Leoni when he's only played half a game for us.

1

11 Mar 2026 18:39:49
Gordon is overpriced dross, and Bowen is too old.

3

10 Mar 2026 21:36:33
Just a general comment on the CL. The quality is truly awful. Watching the Newcastle Barcelona game thinking goals and excitement. It's horrendous. Barcelona are so poor on the ball. Spurs are a joke. Liverpool are the punchline. Bayern are going to stroll this competition.

4

10 Mar 2026 23:06:14
Nonsense. All teams besides Liverpool are playing scintillating football. In all seriousness, I knocked on the Newcastle game after us, and that is the worst Barca team I have seen in my lifetime by some distance.

It's been all too comfortable this season. How we play, the lack of changing course, the acceptance of where we are and how we've performed.
It's been all too comfortable at the top of the club. This season was allowed to be a write off since October. The January transfer window was the biggest statement by the club to the fans. Soo much invested and much more going into massively improved contracts you'd think it was monopoly money.
This season look's destined for hugh financial loss going forward. We're not winning the champions League and we look soo average to even attain a CL spot.

Slot was comfortable enough to continue this dross, Edwards and Hughes are comfortable with their own below standards in their roles.

Where's the leadership from above? Who's explaining to the owner's we spent half a billion and we've went backwards by a decade in progress? But we continue to mismanage the entire club. Edward's and Hughes are not correct for the model we were. Slot s commercially going to damage us if we continue with this. Fans are switching off the TV's.

The squad is not right. If you buy wirtz you need pace and power around him. Backline need's enforcements and we require as I'll repeat 2 top midfielders to go straight in.

11

10 Mar 2026 19:53:23
Totally agree Ron, he should have gone after the drubbing by PSV, it's just been a insidious decline.

7

10 Mar 2026 20:16:30
Well we bought Wirtz and have no power and pace (Isaks fast but injured and Ekitike can run but decides to jog around all game). But then again Wirtz was probably the worst player on d pitch tonight.

0

Wirtz is weak as f*** very lightweight and overall fellas LFC are not equipped to be a strong force in an away game you are all right no physicality no pace no power no aggressive players

It's like a lightweight Barcelona team without the flair parts
We have an ageing VVD Salah Alisson Robertson and today we have a very weak and lightweight squad which makes them look worse it's sad cos I think it's Arsenal era now and won't be LFC for maybe the same amount of time Arsenal
Took to get here 4 -6 years

Because LFC won't spend alot in the summer

Forget tonight Liverpool
Have major problems.

5

10 Mar 2026 21:47:31
Wirtz is just back from injury, and yeah he's lightweight, but he's young enough to improve.
He shows sparks of brilliance which is more than most.

3

10 Mar 2026 22:11:46
Just back from injury? how long he been out 10 days? Shows sparks of brilliance alright, about as many as he shows flashes of averageness. Seriously, theres obviously something there, he's a player but this myth that he's been great for us is just pure lies.

0

10 Mar 2026 23:13:00
Our only good run this season (apart from the first 5 games) coincided with him actually playing well and setting the tempo. He has been among the better players for us, but a system which is about constantly slowing the game down is not going to suit any forward player too much.

All of them seem to have been much poorer than last season (except Ekitike, maybe - he was good for Frankfurt too).

09 Mar 2026 13:44:15
Allison out, picked up knock in training today.

09 Mar 2026 13:17:09
Just saw headlines that NATO have shot down a missile over Turkey.
Will this affect our game tomorrow night and will it still go ahead?
Have the team flown out there yet?

0

09 Mar 2026 17:01:24
I suspect it will be fine. The part of Turkey that is always a bit dodgy is the south-eastern corner where it borders Iraq and Iran. Istanbul is the best part of 2000km from there, so I don't think that there would be any kind of immediate threat.

0

09 Mar 2026 18:24:52
Turkey is a massive country and I doubt Iran has missiles that would reach Istanbul.

09 Mar 2026 19:13:27
Can't see any issues with the game going ahead - I'm more concerned with my holiday there in May.

08 Mar 2026 21:24:15
I see Indy suggesting we're looking at Barella and Gibbs-White.

Any in the knows heard about interest in these? Also possibility of Heitinga returning (assuming Slot leaves)

And yes, I know it's X, but he's certainly had some stuff correct in the past along with some of the guff.

2

09 Mar 2026 00:51:09
Barella is too old. Gibbs White would make no sense, as we already have Wirtz & Szoboszlai, who are attacking midfielders. Neither addresses the weaknesses we have. I can't imagine even we'd be that stupid to sign those two.

4

09 Mar 2026 07:12:17
Cheers, Viktor. I knew I could count on you.

Joking aside, the Gibbs-White one, I thought, was a little odd. I always liked Barella, but I wasn't sure of his age, and I didn't realise he's nearly 30.

It's a gut-busting, no-nonsense midfielder. I'm keeping an eye on him... Let's hope we get someone in to toughen up our soft underbelly!

0

09 Mar 2026 09:47:49
"He's certainly had some stuff correct in the past, along with some of the guff."

That is pretty much the definition of "if you throw enough s***, some of it will stick." Even a broken clock (analogue obviously) is right twice a day and all that.

3

09 Mar 2026 10:12:33
Correct, Shipley, but he's been more on the money than some of the usual people in the know, (to the point that David Ornstein even re-tweeted some of his stuff), so he must have some insight.

0

09 Mar 2026 10:29:49
Possibly the worst rumour he has put out there since he started his professional spoofing.

3

09 Mar 2026 14:12:38
Honestly, I don't remember him ever getting anything right. What examples are there?

2

09 Mar 2026 18:26:02
Lfcfan, he got lucky last summer. Sounds like the chicken flipper has returned to form.

0

09 Mar 2026 23:08:05
He only gets things right because he copies them from here!! Most of the time he's completely wrong but often deletes them. I don't know how many times people have to say about Indy. He's an incel who works at KFC in Leicester - he knows NOTHING, he's NOT an insider, now please can we stop talking about that idiot, it really does my head in!

10 Mar 2026 05:52:17
Barella to replace Chiesa?

06 Mar 2026 00:04:23
Listen, if klopp does return to management, I don't think he will return to us or the Premier League however,

I will say it is the only scenario where I would kike Gerrard on the coaching ticket.

I think Klopp has such a massive personality that he could mould Gerrard into exactly what we need him to be.

I don't want Gerrard managing as he has shown nowhere near enough of a resume to qualify him for the job.

As assistant manager to anyone else, I d feel he cause more problems than he would solve.

But a Klopp/ Gerrard coaching ticket does get me incredibly excited. Think it's a partnership that would actually benefit them both.

It won't happen but a man could dream.

It's the only capacity I can see Gerrard working on a coaching ticket and it would also be my number one coaching pick.

1. Klopp (preferably with Stevie G as AM)

I'll give my top 4 since I'm at it.

It's got to be Luis Enrique. The football PSG played last year was some of the best I ve ever watched and we ve been treated to klopp football. He seems to be high in the betting for some reason but I doubt he comes to us. Would be another dream coaching ticket.

2. Luis Enrique

My 3rd choice would probably not align to most but I'm going Iraola. A big drop in certainty from the first two but I just love watching Bournemouth play and the standard of players there pale in comparison to what we have. I would love to see what he could do at a big team and I would be quite excited if it was us that provided him with that chance.

3.Iroala.

4th would be Alonso. Club legend and has really had a varied career under the guidance of some of the greatest managers with all kinds of different styles. The football he played at Leverkusen was outstanding and there are players at the club who knows what he wants very well. Liverpool are not Madrid. I think he can get the players to work hard here.

4. alonso

I would be absolutely delighted with any of these 4. I know some will denounce Iraola but I think he may be a massively underrated choice with Prem experience and a huge ceiling.

3

06 Mar 2026 02:27:38
You're right about one thing, Klopp's not coming back, he has zero interest. All the recent talk in the media is based on an unconfirmed report that Red Bull are not happy with him. It's all speculation. No chance we're getting Enrique. If he goes to a Premier League team, there's no chance he picks us over City. He still has a year left on his contract anyway, so for now he's technically not even an option. Alonso is possible, but as I said when he first got the sack, I imagine he's waiting until the Summer to see what offers are on the table. We spoke with him back in January, and it wasn't to see if he fancied a pint. I'm certain we floated the idea of him coming in back then, and he said, 'get back to me in June.' If true, he's technically shrugged us off twice now.

He's a smart lad, career focused, there are other teams out there that would be less of a gamble for getting his career back on track. Iraola is a possibility, I'm sure he'd snap up the opportunity, but obviously not the club's first choice, and understandably so, considering he's essentially got little more to his name than a few gold stars.

If Arne does go, it's not going to be as easy as people think to bring in a top manager. It's going to be a very busy window in terms of managerial appointments, a lot of movement expected. If the likes of Pep and Enrique do decide to move on, it could make things very difficult for us. Time will tell.

2

06 Mar 2026 07:26:34
I'd have zero issue with Iraola becoming Liverpool manager. He should have been since last November imo. But that's past history. It'll be Alonso and I also have zero issues with that either.

3

07 Mar 2026 10:07:08
I would not like to see Gerrard back at the club.

3

09 Mar 2026 14:37:39
Iraola, for me, this man knows the Premiership well, and has kept his team playing well while having to replace stars who have left.
