Ed001 you are going to be seeing a lot more of Mo in due course, the Ronaldo halo has lost its shine, and the move is all falling into place.
The local guys all seem convinced he is joining have you heard the same?
I'm in Umluj but with many guys from Riyadh ? who love Al Nassr
I like Al Ahli personally but each to their own.
{Ed001's Note - Mo is out here in Dubai a lot anyway, on his breaks. He has a home here out by Burj Khalifa. The club want him to move on in the summer, but he doesn't want to go to Arabia. Maybe he can do what Stevie did and have the family live in Bahrain and commute, but they are not keen on going there. You have to remember that his wife is a scientist, she would not be allowed to do her job in Arabia like she can in the Emirates, for example. But their home in Dubai is a bit too far away to commute to Riyadh.
Also the kids are happy and settled in Liverpool and don't want to leave. That was why he was reduced to begging for a new contract last time, even though there were millions on offer for him to go somewhere else. The family do not want to move and he is very much a family man. He would prefer to stay at Liverpool, but he does understand that the time will come when he has to move for his career or retire.
I know that there are offers on the table for him but he has never been interested, that is the big sticking point.}

Thanks OP and Ed for this Q&A. Do you think he might accept lower wages and a diminished squad role?
As you say unlikely that the club would offer it, but I think if a player like that wants to stay, his example is worth keeping around.
Maybe put him through his coaching badges if that's a side of the game he is interested in?
His game is diminishing and the writings on the wall, but a legend like him should IMO be kept around in whatever capacity for as long as possible.
{Ed001's Note - that is a difficult one as I know he just wants to play, I can't see him giving up playing until he absolutely has to. Most likely is that he moves on either this summer or at the end of his contract.}
07 Feb 2026 07:57:01
If mo was prepared to accept that he didn't play every game and his next contract was on well reduced wages I think he be well worth keeping as I think he will get his form back, I don't see him as finished at top level, and would be v useful if we ever did go too 2 up top he could be rotational option up.
I've no doubt he would play plenty of games but whether he would accept that i v much doubt it. His family situation as explained by ed1 could well see him stay in Europe r states when he does move.
07 Feb 2026 08:02:37
What's your opinion on him staying Ed. Do you think he can still offer the team something regularly?
I would assume around the club and training ground he's well thought off. Looks after himself. Recovers well after matches. Looks after himself to be in peak condition.
{Ed001's Note - I would keep him, he is a good example for the youngsters.}
07 Feb 2026 08:04:27
I mean he doesn't have to move to the Middle East. i'm sure there would be interest from Europe and the PL in him?
07 Feb 2026 08:08:37
When you look at it purely by the events that have happened since he joined, you get a sense of what Salah is really like. Dedicated sportsman, and family man. Quite far from the money-grabbing, prima donna that his agent (and others) gave us the impression of.
07 Feb 2026 08:59:28
We should've played a 442 this season and adapted his game into one of those striker roles. He's intelligent enough and he's got great vision on him.
I'm fully Convinced he could've done it, the legs have gone, he isn't a winger anymore.
But I still believe we could get a hell of a lot out of Mo Salah if we tweaked his game.
07 Feb 2026 09:25:18
Mo was "begging" for 350-400k/ week contract?
07 Feb 2026 09:47:17
LFC8 I agree, I think moving Salah to a striker role does make sense. Trying to fit him and Ekitike and Isak would be a challenge, though I think Isak would be rotated due to his fitness issues.
07 Feb 2026 10:50:56
I'm not sure he would adapt very well to play in the centre tbh since he would have less space there than on the wing. Maybe he can adapt to play slightly deeper off the main striker but that's a big if as well.
07 Feb 2026 11:11:18
He's 33 and as fit as ever, maybe a tiny bit of pace has gone but not much. It's more where and how he is being asked that has hit his numbers, there's no reason he can't perform at the highest level for another 3-4 years.
I think at some point when Slot or his successor gets the balance of possession and tempo right, Salah will shine again. Just my opinion.
07 Feb 2026 11:27:18
I really don't think mo can play as a striker. He doesn't pose any threat in the box as a physical presence, he doesn't know how to make those kinds of runs or attack the back post etc., it's a massive change from the way he has been playing attacking the six yard box.
He has changed his style of play anyway the last year or two to become an inside forward and right sided 10, that is his best position going forward I think.
07 Feb 2026 11:33:36
I hope he ends up in the backroom staff. We should make him the fitness coach.
07 Feb 2026 11:39:48
Keep him and play him central. He'd be lethal. Just IMO of course.
07 Feb 2026 11:58:49
Salah does not track back anymore and help his team mates. We need everybody in the team working for one another. Last season when he scored all those goals it was Sboz who was doing all the running for him.
When Sboz did not play, LFC were not the same team because there wasn't anybody else who could come in and do the same job. Last season it was acceptable because he was the chief goal scorer.
07 Feb 2026 12:08:28
Why did we offer him so much for him to stay if we knew that he didn't want to leave and upset his family.
07 Feb 2026 12:13:11
His pace and strength on the ball are why made him so brilliant. His control has always been great too. Having been so quick and so strong and build your career on those elite qualities, it's hard to expect him to be able to adapt. I can't see it I'm afraid. There are new kids - Hugo and Wirtz - in town and they need the time and space to develop.
Although he scores some brilliant goals he also misses many more.
Incredible as he has been, it's time to look for an exit for both club and player.
Guaranteed legend status, Klopp's success was built on a few players and Mo was undoubtedly one of them. Indeed Slot's title owes a lot to Mo.
07 Feb 2026 12:24:04
Inside right all the way. Isak or Hugo could play ahead of him. Wirtz as the point of midfield and drifting out left.
07 Feb 2026 13:37:13
People talking about Salah as the ST, like they haven't been watching him this entire season (Hell since February, 2025). The guy can not dribble past people anymore, his passing is iffy, at best, and his finishing has been appalling.
And yet people want Salah to play in an even more congested area, where precision is required more than ever. No, not for me. That is a recipe for disaster. He is done, incredible player, one of the best in our history, but every player reaches their limit, and Salah has, unfortunately, reached his.
We should look to ease Salah out, if we can, next season. If not Saudi, then potentially another team in Europe. We were lenient on Kelleher's fee, due to his professionalism, etc. I feel we can do the same for Salah, in some capacity. And, in all honesty, the Salah of now would not demand a high fee. 20-30 million would probably fit the criteria.
Love the guy, but time catches up with us all, and it finally caught up with Salah, at 33. The fact it took this long is honestly impressive, he has been playing to a high standard ever since he joined Liverpool, play consistently too, and only flagged at the end of last season. Hopefully gets a great send off, which he rightfully deserves, and we build again in his absence.
07 Feb 2026 13:48:33
Ed001 Mo has got to be moved closer in playing far to wide it is a waste he offers nothing there because he has no right foot so he is not going to get a cross in if you are going to play him so wide he would have to move to the left.
He is no John Barnes Ed and when he picks the ball up now he has nowhere to go but into crowds as for playing as a striker Ed I just don't see it myself don't know what you think but with us having Ekitike and Isak when fit I really would not play Mo there.
07 Feb 2026 15:01:56
Salah as a striker? Sorry cannot see how that is going to work for anyone. Salah will get crowded out and it will expose his limitations. We will be paying with 10 men.
Crazy idea.
{Ed025's Note - i agree StEA..
07 Feb 2026 17:35:05
Same could of been said about manes last season with us. He was finished on wing and Jurgen shoved him upfront. Did pretty well I believe. Salah has been this superstar on wing, sometimes 2 or 3 players on him, wouldn't of won nothing if it wasn't for him. Cut him some slack for a bad patch.
Wonderful player. A lot of changes at the club this season and new tactics. Which clearly doesn't blend with the style we've been used to to for several previous years. Play a lot quicker and we might just see some signs of the old mo come back. Starting against city tomorrow.
07 Feb 2026 19:09:43
I still refuse to believe he is suddenly a bad player. Until that bald fraud is moved on I'll reserve my judgement. But the other buffoons above him will of course have their views.
07 Feb 2026 20:52:54
If he gets crowded out then it creates room for someone else. I believe he still has a role to play in what would be his final season.
08 Feb 2026 06:51:50
Sorry I don't agree with calling Slot names. He still won us the league in his first season. I know many will say it was with klopps team but how many times has a manager taken a successful team and pretty much destroyed it in their first season, Souness anyone.

Watched Newcastle v Brentford last night Brentford right winger ripped the Newcastle left back a new AH . The same left back that MO could not beat with a stick which really tells the truth about MO's legs going .
I don't want it coming to the end for MO but it comes to all sports persons. YNWA.
