Shame. When others have said we've walked away, I felt that's the best thing to do. We should be in for Barcola, as he seems (agents etc) a lot less hassle.

Folks, again with the criticism...
Carra said very clearly that he thought the club might be playing the game re. Diomande (can't recall the direct quote).
Robbo said about Joao Gomes - Ok, so? We know and have seen these are multi layered, complex deals that can turn any second.
Robbo, Carra, VG, Neddy and others proved themselves time and time again, and I for one am excited every time they post, as they are invaluable to this site.

Carra also said that this may be all part of the dance. With the amount of work already gone into this transfer, I believe that it will eventually happen but perhaps more so on our terms than his. Regardless, I'd actually prefer Rayan but I don't think that's going to happen. It'll be clear by end of next week, I'd suggest.

I'm sure FSG, Iraola, and all the current LFC players will get behind your assessment of a professional footballer, who plays in one of Europe's top leagues and is wanted by I suspect, a lot of teams, but who can't afford the amount being asked.

Moreover, as I've stated for a while now on this forum, I am certain we will sign Diomande; however, I'm as confident that we will not sign Barcola.

@KHA123, Absolutely - we need maybe one versatile defender to sign, loan or deal. As for Barcola, I'm still not sure how he fits without blocking Rio's path and he's not much of a right winger. Great player, but where does he fit in the team?

What this does show is how long this stuff is taking, when I think we should go after other positions.

Iraola has said this morning that we need a winger, defensive reinforcement, and maybe others depending on injuries, etc. It's been said Connor's out for at least a couple more months, for example, so it's good to hear Iraola give clarity on his expectations. It makes sense we focus on a right winger.

I'd test the waters with City to see if they'd sell Semenyo, genuinely think we messed up by not having a punt at signing him given the slim pickings and wild prices at the moment, he would have been an excellent signing.

Not doubting what you say, but you seem desperate to be one of the ITKs and that will look to others like you aren't one.
It takes a long time to be recognised and you may notice that the few we have on here that get clear info and share it don't go round bragging that they knew things afterwards.

Am I the only one here who is not really impressed by Diomande, or Barcola, for that matter?
Diomande is a 19y/o who is nothing more than potential at a horrendous price. And Barcola is just a more exotic looking version of Gordon, only at a higher price (allegedly).
They can both run, I give them that, but I just don't see all the hype with the pair of them.
As VV said above, we should have got Semanyo. He was the one to get, and we stuffed it right up. Now we're trying to sign inferior players for more money imo.

Incredible Bulk - I think Diomande's interesting because he's genuinely two-footed, presses and works back impressively with good goal/assist numbers.
Yes, he's young and the sample size is not massive, but unfortunately, that is where the market is now and it's unlikely to change given the way RBL, Brighton, Bournemouth, City and Chelsea snaffle all the young talent before the sample size can increase, leaving us with huge fees to pay.

I've only seen small bits of him, but I've not seen anything to think he is a £100m footballer. And, for me, the agents he is with seem more trouble than he is worth, and if he does turn out to be as good as they seem to think, I feel he will be even more trouble with them agents always looking for the next move to get their % of the transfer.
So I would say thanks for the info Robbo, but I hope it goes nowhere and we try and get the lad from Bournemouth.

Jurgenator is very right. Give people who post rumours some slack. Transfers are a super fluid thing, they can change at any moment, and we all know this from the past. Done deals become undone in an instant. Deals that we absolutely know nothing about become done.
Some patience and tolerance would not be a bad thing.

Also like unless an ITK's contact is Michael Edwards in years gone by or Richard Hughes last year (I'm not even sure who would be actually making the main decisions this year), but, like, for example, SquareTomatoe, who we know is good mates with Joey G. Joe could tell him 100% that we are signing Diomande today. That would be better inside information than basically anywhere would be available. But Joe would still be like 3 degrees of separation from the people directly in the meetings.
And even the people in those meetings think deal is 100% gonna be done tomorrow, they could get a message back from the other party (because there are multiple parties involved in the transfer), and the agents or someone, for example, completely shift their demands.
That doesn't mean that yesterday Liverpool were 100% confident of getting the deal done. And also doesn't mean the person sharing that information is wrong.
Some people act like these people should be psychics. And I guarantee you if they legitimately could predict the future accurately they would not be wasting their time on rumour sites, they would be insanely wealthy breaking the stock market and winning the lotto!
Let's just appreciate the wealth of information we do get on this site from people with years of a track record and enjoy the ride!
