I wouldn't mind losing both him and Jones. But we need to replace both with 2 new midfielders, one defensive minded and one that excels at progressing passes from deep.
I feel Nyoni still needs to develop, so I don't want him to cover for one of those two potential exits.

Good player, but hasn't been great for a while. Some of the diving and getting on last season really angered me. So many incidents when teams just played through us, and he just fell on the ground and pretended to be injured to save face.

I think the World Cup and the potential sanctions for their flag racing idea will give a few of their Premier League based players a lot of stick that they wouldn't get if they move overseas.

Are you able to tell us which midfielders we're looking to bring in? I know Adam Wharton was under consideration, as was Ayyoub Bouaddi, although it looks as though we dropped our interest some time ago and that Man City may now get him.
Or could we throw a curveball of sorts and go for someone like Chema Andres? Apparently, Iraola wanted him at Bournemouth, and his defensive numbers from midfield, never mind his stature, suggest he could be developed into a fantastic player.

Id swap Macca for Camavinga, I know he has had injury problems, but so did Gerrard around that age and would increase our French connection, maybe help Barcola settle and help us get Kounde from Barca.

11/2 on Wharton joining us at the mo. Worth a punt I'd say, especially if Macca leaves, although Palace asking for mad money prob. The fact he didn't make England's World Cup squad could help our negotiations though... If they're trying to get Rogers / Anderson money, there's your counter.
I know I'm in the minority who actually likes Macalister...
And I love his song tbh... We've lost some good songs and if we lose him and Chiesa after Diaz one last year, we'll need to get creative but if he wants to go, then wish him the best and thanks for winning the league. Hopefully get a decent return on him as well so it's a win win scenario.

If we let go of Macca and Jones, we are left with Grav, Dom, Endo, Elliot, Bajcetic and Nyoni. Only Dom would get into any world class side. The rest are all potentials. So we would really need 2 good midfielders.

I know player swaps/exchanges don't happen very often across clubs, but how about Endrick for Mac, he wants RM, and rumours have it that they'll let Endrick leave. Saves us buying another winger, and we could put those monies on someone like Scott or Wharton as others have mentioned.

No way we get £80m for him. None of his own fans even rate him judging by this thread. Doubt we'll get more than £50m for him. Didn't the bloke only win the league 15 months ago? Lazy wouldn't be a word I'd describe him as, slow enough, more so, doesn't have the running power to recover but wouldn't say he's lazy. Think he covered one of the highest amount of ground at the WC.
I'd take 50/60mil for him though, seen as we got him relatively cheap, too. Although I think that's cheap if you compare to some of the prices for midfielders like Enzo, Anderson, Rogers, and the likes.
