Cant blame this draw run on slot. We played all right but with no real threat or luck. 4th back to back draw and we should have won all of those really. Ok maybe not the Fulham one but Leeds arsenal and burnley today should have been 3 points each
Last year we won such games and slot was lauded for managing the game brilliantly. This year we just don't have that salah or brilliance in the final third.
That is all that is different this season. It looked good last season cuz better players better form. Its bad this season cuz new players and no form.
By the way had we won last 4 we would be just 5 points behind arsenal. Its a grind but I don't think slot is the real problem.
We just sold too many important players and didn't replace them. Very simple. Put in a quality winger, CB and RB in this team and we are gucci.

Rubbish, try getting to the game and witness this dross, you cam feel the tension in the crowd - sorry if I'm being blunt
Drogie.
17 Jan 2026 17:43:13
I agree with you. Add Salah and Diaz performances last season to this team this season and we'd be up there with Arsenal. Instead we have ekitike and Wirtz, players who can only play well for 45 minutes a game and lack a ruthless streak to score enough goals, a completely ineffective Gakpo and still no goals from a lack of quality in midfield.
Add to that Konate and it's actually Hughes and Edward's who should be taking most of the blame. Slot set them up well today but still they let him down. Why is Szob who runs a lot but lacks top quality taking pen over our strikers.
17 Jan 2026 17:43:42
His tactics are rubbish.
17 Jan 2026 17:56:43
Because szob has only missed 2 pens in his career?
Ekitike and wirtz are not the problem
Letting teams pack their box every time we get the ball is the problem.
17 Jan 2026 18:03:11
Atmosphere is not great in the ground at the moment, Drogie. It needed the Annie Road to get singing going at one point, which took me back to the 70s!
I've said, repeatedly, that Slot will ultimately pay the price, but most of our players look so off it, it's frightening. These are mainly the ones who were playing last season. I thought the 4 summer signings were OK, the rest were dog sh*te.
Massive game on Tuesday but, how the season's going, we could well go there and win.
Alonso is sat perched on Slot's shoulder. He is likely to get heavier with each passing game if things carry on.
17 Jan 2026 18:23:22
we are playing exactly same way we did last season. Just that when ball goes out wide there is no one to do anything and we are poor in the front so we keep recycling the ball back.
That is because no one takes on a player. That on players. Slot hasn't changed tactics but its not suited to this group of players.
It is not slot. Wirtz is showing what he can do.
Dom should not be missing pens. Ekitike has to do better. And gackpo needs to be sold.
17 Jan 2026 18:52:25
I watched the Manchester derby earlier and was impressed with how Carrick had Manchester United press and go at City. As a neutral it was a good game to watch. I was left thinking that if Manchester United keep up that kind of performance then we are not likely to get top four. We are so boring to watch right now.
17 Jan 2026 18:52:25
Out of 20 Dean. And in the premier league he'd taken zero and now his record is missed 1/ 1 record. If he's our penalty taker we are screwed.
17 Jan 2026 19:42:32
so you think a 90% score rate on pens is bad?
17 Jan 2026 20:00:05
Salah missed a pen today.
17 Jan 2026 20:49:17
In fairness Charlie it couldn't have worked out any better for utd. Were able to sit in knowing City would and had to come onto them while. also having to play a back four that wouldn't have looked outa place at a bottom three team.
17 Jan 2026 20:52:57
We had enough chances to have that game well won, their only shot on target and they score. We are so weak when we lose possession, a lot of accusations about Hughes blocking JH's return being one. Seems a bit too crazy, that.
17 Jan 2026 21:23:56
Really! Cafu we were slow, easy to read devoid of ideas, caught out with ball over top
We are dire you can not dress it up to anything we are back to before Klopp came .

Just watched the Manchester derby and I'm not just saying this because we didn't get him, but I don't know why Semenyo or any winger would sign for City and Guardiola. He's a brilliant manager but his tactics are all about keeping the ball above everything else. The tactics absolutely kill the wingers creativity and freedom.
Plenty of times semenyo and doku had the chance to run at the full back but they turned back or passed inside. It makes no sense when you have someone like haaland waiting in the box who is 6ft5 and really good in the air.

The other" PEP" Pep Linders! Coached us the same last season. YNWA.
17 Jan 2026 14:16:58
Watching the Manchester derby and with only league to worry about, United could well finish as Arsenals closest rivals come May. No one had that on their bingo card in August. Think they play Corners FC next week as well. This is an issue for Liverpool when you consider top 4 aspirations.

17 Jan 2026 15:52:47
Man United (please don't call them United - there are 3 others in the league for starters with that suffix), could, but let's face it, they won't.
17 Jan 2026 16:00:43
Utd should worry about securing Europa before they start thinking about 2nd.
17 Jan 2026 13:56:29
Watching United vs city shows how rubbish city are now what shows how poor a season we are having and shows why slot should be sacked immediately.
Just as am writing this United take the lead to close the gap on us and have looked better than we have in every game this season.
This is only making the top 5 finish look even harder for us.
Starting to feel really worried now after the transfer window in the summer was feeling really excited for the season ahead could not have been anymore wrong.

17 Jan 2026 14:33:03
Exactly, lookin at City we shouldn't off catching them up and finished 2nd/ 3rd.
17 Jan 2026 17:25:08
Can't beat Burnley at home and you want to catch City.

I see another apology from PGMOL on the way.
How was Dalot not given a red card for that straight leg challenge on Doku's knee.

Good question, disgusting challenge.
17 Jan 2026 14:49:19
Dalot was a terrible tackle how can the ref and var get that so wrong it is getting to were poor excuses are being told by var.
I thought the other tackle on Rodri was more than a yellow as well by Shaw could of damaged Rodri knee after just returning after ACL.

Hi Ed 01, if you could choose one manager/ head coach out of Alonso, Enrique, Hoeness, Pep, Flick, Nagelsman, - to take us forward who would it be and why? Thanks.
{Ed001's Note - I would rule out Pep simply because of the finances required would bankrupt us. Nagelsmann is not for me, he did not do well with managing egos at Bayern, he seemed to go out of his way to butt heads with them.
Flick would be my 4th choice, done very well at Barca and I like his work bringing through youngsters but his high line is suicidal of Ange Postecoglou proportions.
Hoeness would be 3rd, simply because of his lack of experience, but I would be happy with him from what I have seen of his football.
Alonso is second over Hoeness simply because of his knowledge of English football and that he does have genuine affection for and understanding of the club. Plus he has shown an ability to win. But he does lack experience. His time at Madrid is odd, he has a better record than the last 4 before him, I believe, but he expected the players to work hard and that was his undoing. Whereas the fans would back him and we also expect players to work hard.
Enrique would be 1st choice. He is a winner, plays excellent football, coaches younger players well and is arguably the best coach in Europe right now.}

Do you feel Enrique is possible this summer Ed? For me would love home but I just can't see us getting him and we need a manager this summer.
Or hypothetically if we agreed Enrique this summer but for when his contract expires in 2027, would you accept Slot for a further season if it meant Enrique?
{Ed001's Note - I doubt he is possible, seems likely to join Citeh.}
17 Jan 2026 14:14:00
Excellent question and answer Barakdee and ED01. Exactly why I love reading this site. Proper stuff! Zero BS. Very much appreciated.
{Ed001's Note - thank you.}
17 Jan 2026 09:13:48
If we sign a CB (or probably even more) by the end of the window are Hughes and Edwards still useless buffoons totally out of their depth? Remember the same such calls last summer when towards the end of June we'd only signed Frimpong yet by the end of the window there wasnt a tissue to be got in all the supermarkets.
{Ed001's Note - yes. The centre back should have been signed 1st Jan, we needed it all season long. How are you not understanding these things? You can't possibly be this obtuse.}

17 Jan 2026 10:31:02
It wasnt done though, that's not what i asked if you read the question. And just because"it should have been done by Jan 1st"is the new buzz sentence on here it doesn't make it gospel. Why do EVERY team that need a position strengthened not sort it on the first day of the window? If we strengthen the CB position during the window either first day or deadline day they'll have done their job.
The team has kept 2 clean sheets from 4 during January by the way, would have been 3 from 4 but for Dom's brainfart.
17 Jan 2026 10:33:36
We can only comment on the here and now Florian, 17 days into the winter window and we have seen two players who would have improved us sign for a team who have been our closest rival over the last few years, one with a decent release clause the other available cut price. I can't understand why we didn't get Guehi in before City started sniffing around. The summer it was well documented that we were in the market form the top all the way to VVD. So far we have secured 3 kids who may or not develop into anything and have an ageing VVD, injury prone Gomez and an unconvincing Konate who is also running his contract down let alone one right back who is a better winger, another that just got slated publicly and a left back that can't run anymore.
Stinks of poor planning so far. If by Feb 1st we have a couple of ready made starters signed and some decent points on the board then fair enough job done. Right now it seems to be job not even attempted.
17 Jan 2026 10:18:28
Oh he can, Ed001. There's about 4 or 5 posters on here who seem to be doing an 'Ostrich' and burying their heads in the sand. I defended Hughes at times but his failure to recruit Konate and Diaz replacements will be his undoing.
Slot's failure to utilise his squad and academy will be his. I still hope they prove me wrong and Florian Musiala can say "I told you so". I just don't see it.
17 Jan 2026 11:44:41
How do we know when City start sniffing around? it could have been months ago. MK i agree on the Diaz replacement. Not so much on Konate as Guehi was signed doing welcome to Liverpool videos before Glasner pulled the plug. People will say we should have gone in sooner for him but c'mon, the price was the main attraction for Guehi at the time and we are talking about millions of pounds here. On the points you make on Slot our opinions differ.
He's used his squad more than last year it feels. Players like Endo and Gomez just are not as good as the main men, even when they are off form. On the Academy only Rio could maybe have an argument for more minutes but he's a kid who as Slot says can't even train everyday. No Academy CB is even remotely near been able to play in the Premier League, they are miles off.
{Ed001's Note - ok pointless, you are just going to argue for the sake of it.}
17 Jan 2026 12:12:09
City would not have gone in for Guehi if it wasn't for injuries, it has been alluded to on here that we have been faffing about behind the scenes leaving us very short in defence, the proof as they say is in the pudding.
If you genuinely think we're set for the next 5 months Florian then fair enough.
Right now its nothing but a shambles one I hope can be corrected.
17 Jan 2026 12:25:02
Just have different opinions ed, if everyone agreed there'd be no site. I certainly choose to be more optimistic than pessimistic in the way i support the club. I couldn't do it like some on here, they don't seem to get any joy whatsoever out of supporting the club, ever.
That doesn't mean im right and they're wrong, it just means i couldn't be them i'd be mentally drained.
{Ed001's Note - it is not an opinion I was giving though that Citeh did not go in for Guehi months ago. They went in for him this month after losing 3 centre-backs to injury. But you were arguing about it.}
17 Jan 2026 12:49:14
I'll bookmark this arrogant comment for the first of February.
17 Jan 2026 13:31:35
Hows it arrogant Endo? Bookmark what ye want. If they sign a good CB by tbe end of Jan i'll be happy. i think a lot of lfc fans will.
17 Jan 2026 14:25:52
I understand what you're saying FM but as is often said 'the stats don't tell the whole story'. Clean sheets and all that are not a true reflection on any of those games. I want a top CB too but like ED01 says it absolutely SHOULD have been completed on Jan 1 with MG.
It was all there for us to do so. Signing one, which seems doubtful, on Jan 31 is 30 days too late.
17 Jan 2026 14:34:37
I said we need another centrehalf Ernest, lots of times.

17 Jan 2026 09:56:00
Chrisy it'll only be a long term worry if we don't qualify for champions league. If we do the foundation is at least there to change coach and directors and kick on again.
My bigger worry than the teams form of the last six months, in the longer term, is the buys of Isak and Wirtz last summer, and Mo. If we don't get them ticking it's a big problem for us, we just can't afford it to carry on beyond this season either on or off the pitch.
Any coach of this club, including if get Alonso, can't have the best part of £250m of talent, £1m a week wages, on the bench or treatment room. If they're not performing then you have your whole attacking threat undermined and we won't win enough games. We'd then have to offload them at a big loss which would set us back massively.
17 Jan 2026 10:36:48
Dont agree. We have a super squad with the nucleus of a super, young first 11 moving forward. Another good summer window this year and we can have a complete squad and we have a manager who's achieved success leading us. Seriously the doom and gloom on here.
17 Jan 2026 12:38:14
Chrisy, get a grip, man. Set the club back 5 years, utter nonsense. I'm on the same page as Florian and also Sean Dundee, who's posted on the main page. So much anti, Slot, Hughes and Edwards. The latter 2 delivered us players we were salivating over 4 months ago. On way to the game. We're 4th in the table. Let's have a sense of perspective.
17 Jan 2026 14:33:58
You're all missing the point though Rome. We're 4th. Currently! And hopefully will stay there! Imagine thinking that in August that we'd be here today. We should be challenging for the title with the LDNrs! It is absolutely on Slot Hughes and Whomever else that we're here, trying to qualify for next seasons CL competition.
That, to me, is totally unacceptable coming from the high bar we set last May. It ain't ALL doom and gloom but it certainly will be if we're not in 4th Next May.

We only have ourselves to blame for not getting him in. £20m is very reasonable for a player of his quality. We were arrogant to think that he'd wait for us and that bit us in the bum.
17 Jan 2026 10:45:55
Absolutely true Drac. FAAFO has never been more true. We're at the finding out part.
16 Jan 2026 23:52:17
Wonder if will go for the lad "Dro" from Barcelona if its true his leaving them, only 18 but if we are going to spend on youth and hope we sneak top 4 seem a good prospect the little I have seen of him.

Hi all,
Unfortunately the Guehi deal didn't happen because we wouldn't pay a) what he wanted, and b) what palace wanted.
For what it's worth I think we've dropped the ball there.
This one is more on Edward's and than anyone else, which may surprise a few.
I believe the Semenyo scenario is similar.
Other than the obvious exits I haven't heard anything on any "first teams".
I expect a LOT of change this summer. Alonso remains the biggest "target".
Cheers.
