Hopefully! I don't understand the recent hate for Szobo, yes he threw his hands up, but if there's one player you can't accuse of not trying last year, it was him. A natural leader and one of our few weapons from long range, we've missed those since Coutinho days.



Approaching his peak years too, I'd be very happy if we can nail him down.

The longer it goes on, though, the more worries we have, given recent situations, in fairness. If it was agreed in March, I'm not sure why it wouldn't have been signed by now, but who knows.

I hope it's true, he and Kerkez were about the only players who came out of last season with any credit, and that was even with him persistently played at RB, which he clearly wasn't happy about.

I imagine that he will enjoy playing under Iraola a great deal more, and he'll be signing on the dotted line soon. The haters are aiming their anger at the wrong person, and that person has now gone.

Szobo is a good player, but he was hyped to be the next Gerrard and future captain, so people didn't take kindly to him having a pop at the fans, and if there's any player that starts to think he's bigger than the club, it'll be him, in my opinion.
There's also a feeling that if he doesn't get massive wages he'll walk for free and that doesn't sit well either, especially after Trent and Ibou.


Personally, I hope he stays and new players are brought in to match his energy and work rate, because there were times last season he was the only one trying until the very end.

Tbh, we've been here before with other players, the will they won't they dads and they've then not signed. Given his frankly appalling reaction to us as supporters at City (which he should have read the room and had some self awareness), I'm not fussed if we renew or sell him, and if he's not signed it by 1st August, I'd hope the club take a proactive approach and start listening to offers or seeking to replace him and move him on, as we've had two players effectively down tools for the last 12 months of their contract before sodding off to Madrid and I feel Szoboszlai would do the same, he's just a replaceable employee at the end of the day.

Szobo, is probably good enough? Seriously, he is by far our best player. 8/9s out of 10 nearly every game during a season where everyone else was well below. He had to play rb because the 3 rbs we have couldn't collectively stay fit for 10 games all year, and he was still our best midfielder.

He's compared to Stevie, because he can do everything he did. Engine, press, defend, tackle, driving runs, and a right boot like a sledge. Who cares if he got frustrated with fans, if ever a player had the right to be frustrated it was him last season.

And no, he's not comparable at all to Gerrard, he doesn't deserve to be in the same conversation as Gerrard. Gerrard dragged the club to a European Cup final win against all odds. Szoboszlai hasn't done anything close to that.

And yes, that reaction to the fans' frustration does matter, people paid a lot of money for what was frankly an appalling performance, instead of being humble & apologetic, he was openly contemptuous toward the travelling supporters for daring to speak up, and if you're telling me that he gave an 8 or 9 out of 10 performance in that game then the only person you're deluding is yourself.

Any player is entitled to run down his contract, one he signed, and was agreed by the club. Don't get me wrong, it infuriates me that we have lost significant funds recently, but not playing a player seems counter productive.

Maybe clubs need to look at transfer fees. Maybe abolish the fees altogether and have a free for all when players come to the end of their contract.

When was the last time we got a really worthwhile out of contract player? Matip maybe. They're thin on the ground unless you're RM, which tells you a couple of things. They're the biggest draw in world football, they play by slightly different rules to everyone else.

So I’ve been reading for years and never posted, never needed to as I’m not in the know and not even based in Liverpool so know one affiliated with the club at all. I won tickets through my company for Wimbledon in the nice area, not a massive tennis fan or never been so let’s call it the VIP bit. Was in the the bar with the Mrs and some bird knocked my drink off the bar. Turned round, was some stunner of a blonde, I through I recognised her but wasn’t sure. I've never quite understood the hate for some of the ITKs to be honest

I mean, clearly they have some sources and just like Ed002, they did be happy to pass on what bits they know

Of course, there are some clear pretenders and am happy to call them out when it becomes evident, but a handful have been quite spot on

And being in the nature of work and role that I'm in, I can appreciate how much work can be put into 1 thing / person, but the outcome is totally different, or that not much of effort was put into an area / person, but suddenly the stars align and you get what you want (or better). It really can be that dynamic

Finally, this is a rumors page! A rumor means an unverified piece of information or story that spreads quickly, often without solid evidence to confirm its truth. So I guess we can live with anything between outlandish nonsense and nearing gospel truth?

Like most, here, I am not an ITK nor know of many people who are ITK (bar one contact whom passed on info to me once and decided not to do it again as he got a lot of grieve from others after sharing what he did, which I totally understand), and will be happy to chew on those bits that I hear here. Got a update. Missed out on Xavier Parker unfortunately, as all know. Was Liverpool's top target at academy level this summer and as reported elsewhere the club won't look for a plan B or anything like that.

Liverpool are still working on some deals though. Currently working on bringing in Joshua Holme, cousin of Liverpool U18 player Haydn, and Josh Chigwada from Everton.

Heard Celtic got badly done. Tribunal fee for Dara Jikiemi will be low.

I would imagine there are people at the club who have responsibility for different aspects of the team, i.e., current first team and future first team, and getting a good return on those that don't make the first team squad. If not, there should be.

As I said, Footyfan, my view is the real focus should be first team recruitment and development. Secondary is the trading of players at youth level. Once in a decade someone makes it as an established first teamer like Trent, the rest of the incomings and outgoings tend to just generate surpluses to help fund the first team.

Although I’m still relatively new to posting here, I respect everyone’s views and opinions, especially those who put their trust in the established voices like Carra, Robbo, and others.

That said, I’m sticking with what I said a week ago. Liverpool have walked away from the Yan Diomande deal and, from what I’ve heard, they won’t be going back. The club feel they were messed around by Roc Nation, so they’ve moved on.



I also expect PSG to end up signing both of their winger targets, Diomande and Alikouche, as Carra has mentioned.

As for Barcola, we’re in a really strong position. I believe we’ll beat Arsenal to him, especially as they’re putting most of their focus on Morgan Rogers, bid for Barcola after World Cup.

This isn't about Liverpool refusing to deal with a difficult agent. It's about the club believing they were deliberately played by Roc Nation throughout the process. That's completely different. Once Liverpool reached that conclusion, they walked away from the deal and have no intention of going back.

I actually posted that Liverpool had walked away over a week ago, long before Carra spoke about it today, so I'm not jumping on the back of his comments.

If anything, what he said only adds weight to what I'd already been told.

I also don't agree that Liverpool will sign Diomande. I believe PSG will end up signing both Diomande and Alikouche.

On Barcola, we'll have to agree to disagree. I still think Liverpool are very much in that race, and I actually fancy us ahead of Arsenal because they're prioritising Morgan Rogers.

I don't believe Liverpool have walked away at all from Diomande. One, it's not been announced. Normally we'd announce it or at least feed the media we've pulled out. Secondly, no bid or rumours from the usual social media crown that PSG are in discussions. I believe the agents are p****, and there are still negotiations going on. The 'prefer PSG link' has been made by his agent, probably to hurry us along and come in with a higher bid.



The club are shrewd dealers when it comes to signing players, it's what lots of proper ITKs say. I think they're negotiating agent fees. Went to uni in the Pool, stayed a number of years after. I'll see if I can reach out and get the dishwasher at the training grounds name and see what they've heard!

I know some agents (including some who worked for Raiola's agency) and a couple of people high up in some Italian and German clubs.

No matter how annoying and unprofessional an agent is, the club will still deal with them if they represent a target the club really wants.



Plenty of players have atrocious reps: Pogba, Salah, De Ligt, etc etc. Clubs still speak to them and still buy them. The finances and the need for the player determine transfers, whether or not the club likes the rep really doesn't matter to any of the clubs I'm familiar with.

Munoz deal wasn't floated at all. Hopefully we get more of these slightly left field transfers through over the coming weeks, although who knows what type of buy he'll turn out to be.

Historically, the lower profile or quicker deals have often proven to have been better than the long convoluted pursuits like Keita or Isak.

The main deal I can think of that we persevered with that ultimately proved worth it was VVD, but he was already a well established player in the Premier League.

We were looking at a young winger from Lyon last year, Malick Fofana. Thought we might have went for him as Lyon need the money and Luis Diaz needed replacing. Would he still be an option? Might be in the Belgium team tomorrow if he was called up.


Also still hoping Madrid fans drive Mbappe out as him and his mother have a soft spot for Liverpool.

Hi Potassium,
My dad applied for walking football England trials a year or 2 ago when they had them at Burnley.
He wasn't pleased when they told him they were looking for people around the 50 year old range and not 85.


I last played walking football with him 5 months ago.
Now he has dementia and doesn't know me half the time.
Made me laugh when you mentioned England.
