Just read Real Madrids right back is looking to leave.
I know it's click bait nonsense and I can't believe he would but….
would anyone have him back out of interest?
As much as I think we desperately need a right back, I wouldn't.
20 Jan 2026 23:38:55
For the £10m we got for him, yup, I'd take him back.
He wanted to try something new. We don't know how contract negotiations were ever handled, but if the something new didn't work out for him, I'd rather see him play for us than for any other EPL team.
His passing has been missed this season, and we're struggling for a consistent RB.
All hypothetical of course, and I don't think he'll be back any time soon.
20 Jan 2026 23:41:55
I would take him back. Saying you wouldn't is biting your nose off to spite your face.
21 Jan 2026 00:00:36
I would with some pretty tight clause if that were to happen.
21 Jan 2026 00:57:39
No. He made his bed. He can lie in it.
21 Jan 2026 01:03:18
Him leaving on what is essentially a free and us having to pay a premium to bring him back is like a slap to the face for me. So while I think he would bring value to the team, as a matter of pure pride, I wouldn't have him back at all unless he costs absolutely nothing.
21 Jan 2026 01:40:49
After everything I'd say no I wouldn't want him back now. Nothing against the lad at all but wouldn't want him back at Liverpool.
21 Jan 2026 02:22:02
No way Mikey
The boy is a ball bag and his decision making and outright rubbishhousery will live long in the memory.
21 Jan 2026 02:40:41
We all know what he's done but surely if he wanted to come back home with an apology, us signing the best right back for our game style would be a good thing to happen.
21 Jan 2026 04:23:46
I wouldn't be anti the idea. But I have a feeling that Trent's career has taken a turn for the worse, not unlike Coutinho,
Mind you countiho wasn't exactly garbage after he left us, and he won things, but in terms of hitting the heights again, I think they may be over for Trent.
There's something about being motivated mainly by external motivators diminishing your ootebtial.
21 Jan 2026 04:38:38
Isn't RM's RB the 52 year old Carvahal? OrvValverd?
21 Jan 2026 06:34:48
Did Trent and Sot not see eye to eye or so it was reported or have I dreamt that?
If Slot were to leave and Alonso come in would Alonso want Trent? He hardly selected him at Real.
21 Jan 2026 06:53:06
Id have him back at half the wages he was on previously.
Nah just joking. I wouldn't have him back.
21 Jan 2026 06:55:14
Leaving aside anyone's feeling's about the young man's decisions, we have truly missed him in our side this season, im not saying he would of been the saviour or anything but his skillset and door unlocking would be a f***ing godsend this season.
21 Jan 2026 07:18:51
I absolutely would. We are still the best fit for his skill set, it would be the best possible move for him too. He should be praying that we'd take him back the way Owen did.
21 Jan 2026 07:31:47
He seems to have started having a lot of injury problems going back to last season with us. before that he had played 7/ 8 seasons with us and I can hardly ever remember him missing out threw injury. that would be my big concern more so than anything else.
21 Jan 2026 07:35:49
Why pay to have the cretin back? If it's all going wrong at Madrid, well tough. That's the way the ball bounces. He can enjoy being loaned out in a years time to Spurs or somewhere else rubbish. Whatever transfer budget we do have shouldn't be wasted on someone whose ego far exceeds their actual ability.
21 Jan 2026 07:40:17
Id take him back.
He has found that its not rosy outside home.
With all that is going on at the club I can now actually believe that neither slot or Hughes ever had the hard talk with him and listened to what he wanted and did everything in their capacity to make him stay.
I know he had has heart in Madrid but I think heart can be swayed especially given the money we had available in summer. But pretty sure neither slot or hughes went to him with proper intent.
Just thinking out of my ass here but it could very well be true.
21 Jan 2026 07:54:14
No I would not want him back he can stay there with his ?end brother and his lover boy dickhead who the crowd turned on at the weekend. Even they are starting to see what he is like now.
{Ed078's Note - It's a complicated situation. I can't begrudge his ambition. He served the club well for years. His manner of leaving may not have been to everyone's taste, but the boy is a talent, though maybe not the talent he thinks he is, much like when Owen went there. Football and its fans can be a cruel judge , and in the end, he aint coming back.
21 Jan 2026 08:35:20
Don't make it difficult, this is how Paisley would handle that question:
Is he better than why we've got? ✅
Is he available? ?♂️
Is he affordable ?♂️
Does he want to come ?♂️
If all those questions are answered "yes" then you sign him. You're not getting married to him, it's going to be 7 years before he's thinking about retiring.
21 Jan 2026 08:43:32
Can't see hime coming back to us. Think his wages would be too high and we might have had his best years anyway. Can see him back in England though. Somewhere like Man City or Chelsea.
21 Jan 2026 08:45:20
I don't think him coming back would be good for the dressing room. What he offers on the pitch is excellent, but from social media reactions and the statement the club issued when he left, you can see that the club and other players lost all respect for the way he left.
We just need to move on. If he wants to come back to England, I'm sure Man City or Chelsea will take him.
21 Jan 2026 09:05:22
He's a below average right back with an above average right foot who has a toxic ego. He genuinely believes he's bigger than Liverpool Football Club. Can't believe anyone would genuinely want to waste good money on him given there are other more pressing priorities.
21 Jan 2026 09:07:09
Well put Ron K. For me; I'd have him home in the morning. Excellent excellent football player. We clamour for top level players to play for LFC. He's a top level player. He'd excel in a XA team without any doubt.
21 Jan 2026 09:28:56
Any ounce of integrity in the clubs culture would have to be questioned if they brought him back anytime soon. Klopp rebuild this club mainly on assembling teams of strong characters and actually creating an environment where the players would run into the ground for each other.
Rewarding Trent by bringing him back after all that have been said and done would be a tragedy IMO. Even calling it "home" for him is making my skin crawl. He gladly burned every bridge the way he went about it so good riddance and see ya never lad.
21 Jan 2026 09:53:10
Pretty sure he's just working up to his ballon d'or right now.
21 Jan 2026 10:27:17
Simple answer. No.
Spend the money on Bastoni, Ordoñez, a proper DM, a RB and someone like Olise or similar to take Salah's spot long term.
Ship out Konate, Gomez and Macca at the very least.
TAA served the club well (mostly) but he's old news now, move on.
21 Jan 2026 10:42:41
The Spanish judas was bought because he was free, I always said he'd be sold within 18 months for profit, most probably end up at Chelsea.
21 Jan 2026 10:48:29
Even if you could look past the shabby way he left, his body is struggling to perform at an elite level. He might be 27, but he's got the legs of a player that is 5 years older. The injuries are starting to stack up.
21 Jan 2026 11:07:37
Trent is too injury prone so it a no for me.
21 Jan 2026 11:14:42
Shankly's ghost. He was literally in a XA team and XA took one look, thought he was lazy and benched him. So no. He really isn't a XA player.
21 Jan 2026 11:51:32
Never a truer Word spoken Viktor even though I sometimes disagree with your views.
21 Jan 2026 12:38:05
Can I say 5hat I totally blame Slot for letting him go in the first place …….
21 Jan 2026 14:24:10
I disagree VV. But there'd be no craic if we all agreed with each other! Enjoy the match tonight! Hopefully we get a result.
21 Jan 2026 15:11:42
Like you, Ed78 I love Trent to bits and he is one of the best footballers I have ever seen kick a ball. But I think we should just leave him where he is and try to move on.
We had great times together with him, the fans and the club so I'd prefer to not ruin such memories.
22 Jan 2026 11:13:11
@Shankly's Ghost, remind me how did TAA's career go with XA being his manager at Real Madrid? Perhaps XA doesn't think he is as good as TAA himself does?
