Could Rodri now agreed to Barca mean Gavi to us?
16 Aug 2026 21:51:38
Hope not, injury prone, lightweight and not a defensive midfielder. Just another box to box midfielder and we've enough of those.
16 Aug 2026 21:55:14
Marc Casado instead por favor.
16 Aug 2026 22:13:11
Chema Andres, big physical unit who can dominate the middle of the park. That's who we should be after.
16 Aug 2026 22:13:34
Viktor, Gavi would be an excellent addition. Getting a defensive midfielder is easy - they're honestly not that rare. Find someone with a high work rate and stamina, who doesn't mind being a shadow for 90 minutes.
I honestly think it's the easiest position to buy for. Mascherano was hailed as brilliant and he was extremely limited technically.
16 Aug 2026 22:59:07
Nevada, I think the key is getting someone with physical presence, but just as important is someone who can progress the ball from a deep position by passing. We don't have that at the moment.
All of our starting midfielders want to dribble to progress the ball, and as soon as you press them from deep, they pass it backwards or sideways.
That's why our defenders always end up bringing the ball out. It would be nice for a midfielder to do that for a change (would add another layer to our game)!
Gavi is an improvement, but is still more of an attacking midfielder. I'm sure there are plenty of up and coming Spanish players from La Masia that can do this.
16 Aug 2026 23:00:38
Technical or not, it was always good fun watching him get stuck into the United team at every opportunity @Nevada. π
16 Aug 2026 23:03:58
Stamina isn't a word you can use to describe a player who missed 46 games last year and had two serious long term injuries on the same knee. Added to the fact, Gavi is just another lightweight box to box number 8, any club taking that sicknote on would be stupid. Particularly in a physically demanding league.
16 Aug 2026 23:12:18
Gavi's got the knees of a penguin. No thanks. Too many injury concerns as is.
16 Aug 2026 19:19:41
Here it is:
Liverpool are edging closer to signing Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye. We expect both players to sign for Liverpool next week.
16 Aug 2026 19:47:51
Who's we?
16 Aug 2026 20:02:27
His alter egos/sock puppet accounts?
16 Aug 2026 20:04:08
Where's here?
16 Aug 2026 20:04:18
We? The government?
16 Aug 2026 20:18:46
Was this before or after you saw the teamsheet.
16 Aug 2026 21:15:52
The Royal we. Lads, it's Camilla posting.
16 Aug 2026 21:27:28
Your majesty, *bows*.
16 Aug 2026 19:10:55
Effin ell.... Barcola and Mbaye not even on the PSG bench... π€π€
16 Aug 2026 19:36:09
Enrique & Iraola must have been reading the forum earlier, and seen how concerned 007 was with regards to Russian roulette being played with this transfer.
16 Aug 2026 19:37:28
Maybe they are hiding under it.
16 Aug 2026 20:59:36
"A chicken "
only proves i was right and you and ye entourage were totally wrong.
as i said if BB plays today and gets injured the player loses out, LFC loses out, and PSG loses out, just basic common sense! no brains needed?
17 Aug 2026 07:55:47
How did it prove you right, @007?
You would have been right if they had both played and each suffered an injury.
They didn't, and they didn't, so you didn't prove anything.
Schrodinger's football has arrived on the forum. π
{Ed078's Note - not a cat fan if I'm honest.
16 Aug 2026 19:04:35
Things are moving now.
Barcola on the bench tonight, having a nice little rest ready for his flight to Liverpool. π
Jones heading the other way to Inter.
They can give each other a wave as they pass through the airport. π
Barcola in. Jones out. Here we go.
16 Aug 2026 19:49:26
Interesting, really getting Harry vibes from this poster, with excessive use of emojis in particular!
Harry, that you? How many accounts you rocking now?
16 Aug 2026 19:56:40
Zed, he's always gonna be a step ahead of you, no matter how hard you try. π€£π
16 Aug 2026 19:59:40
Barcola wasn't even on the bench. Neither was Mbaye.
16 Aug 2026 20:20:07
Amazing how many times one person can be wrong in so short a time. π€£
16 Aug 2026 20:26:34
Typo @Shipley... Supposed to say not obviously. I was on the Madri when typing.
How have I been wrong, Metal Mickey?
16 Aug 2026 20:28:17
Who's Harry? I've only joined this week.
16 Aug 2026 20:41:52
Robbie, Harry is a deity round these parts... He's a long time poster with a different perspective to most. Personally, I don't mind him because he puts a smile on my face but I know he runs a lot of people up the wrong way, which is understandable, and some people see him as nothing more than a troll.
16 Aug 2026 21:00:21
Cheers, Jari... No, I'm not whoever that is. I don't know why people get angry at posting. I'm not posting lies, just info?
We still aren't fit, and we can see today how much new blood gives us an edge.
16 Aug 2026 21:07:43
Harry likes capitals, Zed. Keep up.
16 Aug 2026 21:28:15
Ah good point, Baker.
Maybe he's evolving?!
16 Aug 2026 21:29:38
Harry is a City fan. Until they don't win the title, then he's a Liverpool fan.
Has anyone checked the Arsenal pages? Maybe he's over there these days.
16 Aug 2026 21:43:03
Ah no, Rio, Harry is a scouser. Or so he used to proclaim!
Where is he lately, anyway? Is he "ThirstforWirtz" or something?
16 Aug 2026 21:51:19
That sounds like the sort of thing Harry would say.
16 Aug 2026 21:59:06
He's still rocking several accounts, Molby, the one you're thinking of is Thristforwirtz, btw.
16 Aug 2026 22:14:36
Harry has been here longer than I have and I've been here for more than a decade.
16 Aug 2026 22:40:32
You think he's becoming HarrIAScousser, Zed?
{Ed033's Note - I think Harry is now Lastfanofslot not robbiefowledmyself80
16 Aug 2026 22:52:08
Zed and Harry's game of cat and mouse must have been a feature of the site for the best part of 2 decades now, funny stuff.
15 Aug 2026 18:58:40
We need to be patient with the club and trust the process. We need to be patient with each other. Things can change and genuine posts can end up being wrong. Both things can happen at same time. Carra, Fields, Victor and Robbo have supplied very reliable information as well as Macca.
For my opinion I think the new consortium will push for a new stadium. My understanding is that all infrastructure costs are separate from PSR rules. Also that any debt could be written off and while no extra funds for players, we could offer better terms for selling the club. Larger payment upfront. YNWA
16 Aug 2026 21:35:59
Patience..... I remember that in the pre-Twitter days.
16 Aug 2026 18:23:09
Ed do you think it's likely Jones is gone mate?
{Ed001's Note - yes.}
16 Aug 2026 19:31:04
Jones seems pretty certain to be leaving alright. Good luck to him. I genuinely wish him success in the future. Why it never seemed to click with Liverpool... A very bad eye injury, and inconsistency. Inconsistency in team selections, inconsistency in performances, and inconsistency with injuries and staying fit.
His stats on scoring and creating goals are pretty average too. You just never knew what type of performance you'd get from him from one game to the next. I think Elliott is the same too, and he could be gone soon too thinks me.
16 Aug 2026 18:11:17
I'll be shocked if Elliott and Jones are still at LFC.
They havenβt kicked on.
And Liverpool really need to elevate the quality, so hopefully they do.
16 Aug 2026 18:35:48
291 or on mine under friendlys.
16 Aug 2026 18:37:13
LFC TV, mate.
16 Aug 2026 18:58:26
Excellent, am watching it now, so many thanks lads.
16 Aug 2026 20:30:50
I'd be gutted if Elliot goes. At one point I thought Jones, Elliot and Bajectic might be the future of our midfield, and Elliot especially has showed real promise and quality. I still believe there's a quality midfielder in there somewhere, if he can just be coaxed out again.
Unfortunately I don't think he's going to get a run in the team again anytime soon now with Macca staying and Nyoni looking a tidy little player. I hope I'm wrong though.
16 Aug 2026 21:35:08
Elliott showed promise about 5 years ago. Since the ankle break he's been awful.
It's a shame because we all want to see genuine Liverpool fans play for the club that means so much to them, but at this point, I reckon I could do a better job in midfield than Elliott can.
Time for him to move on, I'm afraid. I still love him, he has genuine passion for the club, but we can't just keep him on sentiment alone. He needs to add something to the squad and quite simply he doesn't.
16 Aug 2026 22:18:17
The fact both he and Chiesa were nowhere to be seen this evening suggests neither are really in Iraola's plans. Both have had full pre season and still can't cut it.
16 Aug 2026 23:13:42
Agree, @Overkill. I think the 'winners' from the pre-season seem to have been Nyoni, Koumas, Ramsay and Wright. I think all four will be in, or around the match day squads.
Quick question, given the long term nature of their respective injuries, is there any point in including Bradley, Leoni and Ekitike in the squad nominations? I think that the CL squad can be updated mid-season, but I'm not sure if that is the case for the PL.
If it is, then perhaps the approach of inclusion for the second half of the season may be the way to go?
16 Aug 2026 23:51:49
WDW, I believe both are updated around the end of Jan to allow for the Jan transfer window.
Ekitike and Leoni might as well stay in the EPL one as those rules allow, for example, Leoni and Jacquet to be classed as U21.
Also, Leoni is apparently not that far away - I think Iraola suggested September some time?
We are likely to have HG slots available in both squads, so Bradley will probably remain.
Makes sense to remove Ekitike from the UCL list though.
16 Aug 2026 17:39:56
Jones not in the squad today. Apparently has a hip injury but I think heβs gone to be honest. Not disappointed about this one, take the cash while we can.
16 Aug 2026 20:57:38
Formby ready for French approval.
16 Aug 2026 23:14:35
Formby twinned with Paris?
16 Aug 2026 17:28:34
Jones has been left out for the match at six o'clock. Looks like he might be on his way out.
Jacquat fella is next to big Virg, great news.
16 Aug 2026 17:46:35
Think this is our starting lineup next week without any arrivals/departures.
Maybe Araujo in for Frimpong.
16 Aug 2026 17:59:41
According to transfer market, Araujo has only ever played 28 games at right back in 9 years of football.
Where he comes on tonight might paint a better picture. For me, if he comes on at centre half, then it's hardly good preparation to start next week at rb.
16 Aug 2026 20:31:47
Frimpong did well. I see no issues letting him start at RB v Newcastle.
