I don't want to intrude on your grief, but you are experiencing what we did post Ferguson.

Klopp wasn't just your Manager, he was the figurehead, a true leader, he set the style, the tone, the standard, a big personality who led from the front. The players bought into that, so any change was going to be traumatic. That you chose someone from the Dutch league probably didn't help, but whoever followed Klopp was going to struggle.

He was held in such high esteem, nobody can match up to him in the players' eyes.

We saw the same when Fergie left. Unfortunately, we also had a useless CEO who made a series of bad decisions, so here we are 13 years on and still not competing.

You may well change Slot, but the same issue remains until the new man inspires the players, or you have a big turnover of the Klopp players.

Hopefully, City will experience the same when Pep leaves.

Cheers, AJH! Deserved win yesterday, and thanks for the input, mate.

We have to find a manager that shows the right traits and then stick by him through tough times and good times as he builds.

That manager has to show foundation blocks like hard work, spirit, and a good style of football that can be built into successful football.

Unfortunately for us, it's clear as day Slot is not that guy, and there's potential we are going to waste further time with him beyond this season.

The big difference is, AJH, that Slot won the league in his 1st season!

That is what the majority of us on here are baffled by. He took a winning formula and threw it away!

I agree with you as regards to Klopp, and also you have to factor in the signings which were so un Liverpool like.

You have done well this year with your signings and a vastly reduced workload. Next year will be different.

The big question for your fan base is, do you stick with Carrick or do you get someone else in? Both are gambles, but of course, you can only pick 1.

The only joy we have regarding Utd is the fact another year passes and no title, and like us, you will go trophyless.

City have far too much money to fail. Only Mark Hughes failed to win a trophy since 115 fc was formed in 2008!

Spot on, King Kenny, that's what I can't fathom. Why take a winning formula and not only rip it up but destroy it. I can only assume arrogance, delusion or sheer stupidity. I think all three.

Don't want to fart on your ice cream, AJH, but you're still well in that period. Carrick is simply having his Ole honeymoon. You'll revert to type next year.

Mr. Ferguson and David Gill (let's not forget he left at the same time) were basically the entire footballing structure at Man United, and you haven't sorted that out yet.

Klopp wasn't as crucial at Liverpool as that. And our stadium isn't falling apart either.

Chelsea doing everything to gift us that 5th place.

6

04 May 2026 17:18:40
Slot will still make them look like world champions.

04 May 2026 17:34:46
That West Ham draw vs Palace looks more and more costly now.

Both Chelsea and Villa are poor atm, that is our only saving grace, but I am not 100% confident we beat either side.

Alonso would be mad to take the Chelsea job, their owners are as mad as a box of frogs!

Slots rotten tactics are gonna make Chelsea look like world champions.

Just having a quick look at the table and, other than Liverpool’s miserable stats, the biggest standout is that Bournemouth have only lost 7 times this season.
For a team that have lost nearly all their best players since last summer, that is a remarkable display from Iraola and his team.
That is the difference a top class coach makes.

04 May 2026 16:28:26
Exactly, and just look what a new manager has done for Forest!

6

04 May 2026 17:39:51
He did the same at Wolves MM, then when he had a full season, it all fell apart.

4 managers in 1 season has to be a modern day record.

Forest could also make the Europa League final, although after sacking off the game against Spurs, Emery has to get a result on Thursday.

Like almost everyone else, I was pretty excited with our transfer window last summer. Isak, Wirtz and Kerkez in particular looked like we’d signed three of the best. Obviously hasn’t really worked out for any of them yet, for different reasons.

However, there were three things I wasn’t so happy about. Signing Frimpong. Letting Diaz go. Not addressing central defence. All three have hurt us.

Hard to watch Gakpo floundering every week whilst Diaz is on fire, and to watch the Konate clown show and van Dijk demise when a player who had done his announcement video for us last August is now playing for City for £20m and will start for England at the World Cup.

It’s criminal to win the league so comfortably, spend almost half a billion and then find ourselves where we are now.

04 May 2026 15:44:42
This is what happens when you let a transfer guru build a side.

Frimpong was bought as a part of a bigger move to get Wirtz, and because he was seen as a well priced squad player, which is hard to argue against.

Kerkez seemed like the right move. Ekitike seemed like a sensible.

I will guarantee you that with a few additions and more importantly, a different footballing approach then we will be back in the hunt again. They can't have all gone bad at once, think about that.

04 May 2026 16:15:17
I'm not concerned about any of the new signings. Get Slot out and we'll see them do well, he's held the entire team back all season.

04 May 2026 16:17:17
Exciting attacking signings, but as soon as it was clear we weren't signing a proper DM, I knew we were going to struggle every time our attack broke down and the opposition drove directly at our slow and powder puff duo of Grav and Mac Allister.

04 May 2026 16:52:56
One thing's for sure, Slot will make Chelsea look like world champions.

Spot on, Molby, we need to find balance in the squad. Although Slot's sideways football is as balanced as you can get, we can neither defend nor attack with any consistency. He will be gone soon, chaps, no one can have that bad a season and survive. It's not bad luck, it's bad preparation. Too casual an approach has sucked the intensity out of the team, and all play is laboured and slow.

I can't count on 2 hands how many dreadful 1st half performances there have been. It all comes from the manager, and his race is run. He cannot continue. There have been zero signs of improvement, and although hampered with injuries, nothing close to a style of football is being developed. Now is the time to take the next step. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

It looks like the Alison to Juve rumours are heating up again, will that be a new GK added to the summer shopping list?

04 May 2026 18:54:48
Bad decision to let Ali go. Yes, he is on the downturn, but there is value in keeping him for his last season, reducing his minutes and mentoring Jaros.

Watched the series Doubters to Believers again, I get rather emotional. What is Slots series going to be called?

I doubt there'd be enough material for a documentary seeing as they have so many days off, SM.

Perhaps a reality show would be more apt. Keeping Up With The Slots, following the part-time househusband in his daily drama at the Slot household in the Netherlands.

To Holland back.

I think Jamie Carragher hit the nail on the head yesterday after the game. He said the big worry for Liverpool right now isn’t that this Slot team has no identity, the big worry is that this is the identity.

I think a lot of people who want Slot to stay believe that we are simply out of form or we’ve got a lot of injuries and the football will improve with time. I’m on the other side of the fence, I believe this is the way he wants football to be played. It doesn’t matter who he has at his disposal, I don’t believe his tactics, or the Dutch way of playing football is suited to the Premier League at all.

It’s too slow, too laboured and frankly not brave enough.

That is what I think worked well last season. He was slowly introducing his style e.g. more control and ball retention, but without veering from Klopp’s method too much. This season, he has completed switched to his own tactics and it’s clear to everyone that it’s not working, and won’t work. Clear to everyone but him it seems.

LFC have played all season like they are having too many days off and not training with intensity!

I don’t want to see these lads on mini breaks in season, showing off on Instagram! You are getting paid obscenely as elite level professional footballers. It is time to be professional!

Just shows the season ended months ago, and everyone was on board with that bar the fans.

Nobody has given a single fudge since October, hence why we didn't try to sign anyone in January or swap the manager etc.

Tools down, season off. Fans dragged along for the ride.
