Good morning all, new gaffer wants to talk to everyone before deciding on their futures, Joe Gomez would still like to stay, it was never an option to leave before because his wife didn’t want to uproot, the club have pretty much said it’s up to him what he wants, they respect he’s the current longest serving player.
Joe has told me Curtis loves the idea of Italy which is not good news in my opinion but again Andoni really wants to speak to him and ideally have him in America, let’s hope he changes his mind.
For a fact the club will stop all negotiations if Curtis says he’d like to stay now.
The mood from what I know at the moment is excitement about a new coaching set up!
{Ed001's Note - good to see you ST.}

Cheers Tomato, hope you're well, mate. It feels like it's been years since I saw you post!
06 Jun 2026 10:12:18
Wow,
The nostalgia!
It's gotta be 5+ years since you posted, is it?
Great to hear mate, thank you.
06 Jun 2026 10:16:34
Welcome home ST. Glad to see you posting again.
06 Jun 2026 10:19:15
Cheers ST, great to see you back! Glad Joe is keen to stay.
06 Jun 2026 10:20:39
Welcome back ST. Brilliant to have you back with us.
06 Jun 2026 10:22:49
Nice to have you back, ST!
I'd be very happy for Joe to stay. He's a very good defender when fully fit, adds great experience to the squad, and always seems to have an excellent attitude without complaining about game time or position he gets played in. Top pro in my opinion.
06 Jun 2026 10:32:51
Square, amazing to see a post from you again.
Please tell Joe to stay. And if he can get in Curtis's ear to stay as well and sign new deals.
These 2 are worth far more than the change they could bring in, and we'll need a big squad this year. I sense there'll be minutes to go round.
06 Jun 2026 10:40:36
Welcome back ST. It's been a while.
06 Jun 2026 10:44:13
Nice to hear from you again, St. Personally, I hope he stays around as I just have a lot of time for him. He doesn't cause problems when he's fit, then he's always ready to step into any position.
06 Jun 2026 10:45:21
Always on treatment table so get shut ASAP.
Don't matter how good he is if he's always watching from bench.
No more leaving for nowt.
Clear out all dead wood and replace with fit healthy players.
Agree, he's a keen positive guy, getting paid to sit around most of the year and training in top class gyms, but we need starters who can be called on to play all the time and he can't do it, never done it.
Like him 100% but his body is not robust enough and if new manager want high intensity footy that will defo not be achievable with Joe.
06 Jun 2026 10:48:38
Welcome back ST, we missed you!
Joe has to stay.
1. I think he's a one of a kind on both attitude and skill set. Injured a lot, sure, but still.
2. He is forbidden to leave until he scores. ?
06 Jun 2026 11:00:29
My guess is that Jones wants to be more important and try something different, and for these reasons I don't believe anything will change his mind.
He also holds onto the ball for too long for an Andoni set up.
He also has only 1 year left and does not want to do a Trent.
06 Jun 2026 11:01:39
Good to see you back, square tomato
Hope all is well.
06 Jun 2026 11:07:19
The hypocrisy on this thread is unreal, 90% on here have wanted Gomez to go as he's never fit, unbelievable.
06 Jun 2026 11:14:09
Maybe it's the 10% who like Gomez who are posting Mr Wallet.
06 Jun 2026 11:16:58
Where’s this poll that fans wanted Gomez gone, notably 90%? I think everyone knows there’s a player in Gomez and I’d have no problem with him staying as he’s versatile at the back. His fitness poses the only issue really.
06 Jun 2026 11:22:58
Welcome back, ST. Good to hear from you.
I think we are all excited (and relieved) at the coaching change - whatever next season brings, it will be fun again.
Would love Joe to stay if he's able to, but if he did move on he'd go with my very best wishes.
06 Jun 2026 11:49:49
I'd keep Gomez if he's happy to have a fraction of his wage! Lad's a bit part player, if even that!
06 Jun 2026 11:50:49
Wow! I was actually just thinking about posting to ask you how Joe is!! Thanks for the info, ST, good to see you back.
06 Jun 2026 11:52:02
I don't want Jones to stay. He doesn't track back and he fouls every time he makes a tackle. He deserves first team football, but there is a reason we have bought 6 midfielders since he broke into the squad. I do wish him all the best though.
06 Jun 2026 12:17:54
Jeez, what's the preoccupation with players' wages and how much players are worth?
The overwhelming majority, who frequent this site, definitely including me, have f*** all idea about what when we are talking about when they start throwing numbers around on here as if they were fact.
As an aside, Joe is a class act - you can check back on the diet @Fatwallet. If he hadn't had such bad luck with injuries he would have been a starter CB for us for years and would have earned a heap more international caps than he actually has.
As I've said a couple of times on here, the three or four reasonable games that Konate had this season coincidentally coincided with Joe playing RB. Good player is Joe - a good clubman and someone who deserves a lot of credit for coming back from the injuries he has suffered.
06 Jun 2026 12:32:18
Great to hear from you, ST, after all this time. I'd like Gomez to stay. I have always thought he was a good defender, and especially alongside VVD. Certainly a better RB than either Frimpong and Bradley. As we all know his fitness issues are the big issues. You already know my opinion on Jones.
06 Jun 2026 12:33:32
It's been waaaay too long, Tomato, good to see you back!
06 Jun 2026 12:46:36
Welcome back, ST...
You've been missed.
I'm gonna be that guy, mate... we all know the mood was pretty downbeat under the old regime.
What are Joe's feelings about the change... besides your tidbit about the overall team excitement.
06 Jun 2026 13:05:06
An ST post! Welcome back!
06 Jun 2026 13:32:56
Welcome back ST!
06 Jun 2026 13:33:05
Cheers ST, best wishes to Joe YNWA.
06 Jun 2026 13:35:50
I like Joe Gomez. Extremely good player to have around, if and when fit.
Even more so than Jones.
With a good run, Joe may be able to get very close to be in the starting 11, and I can be happy with that.
Jones, probably the 13th or 14th player, if you know what I mean.
06 Jun 2026 14:05:44
Square Tomato is absolutely correct.
Ta.
06 Jun 2026 14:24:50
ST, the OG ITK! Welcome back, and hope you're well. Thanks for the insight.
Pls tell Joe to get on penalty duty when Mo leaves.
06 Jun 2026 14:46:36
Good to hear from you, St.
06 Jun 2026 14:50:20
Gomez only issue, as everyone knows, are his injuries. We can only hope they're all behind him. Great player when fit who can cover a few positions.
06 Jun 2026 15:30:12
Great to hear from you St, it's been too long.
06 Jun 2026 15:39:43
"The people saying B were the same people saying A."
Another style of debating I hate, lol.
Like, do y really need to just fabricate a reality to make your point valid hahaha.
Anyways, Gomez should stay if he wants to stay.
He can go for free.
There is more value in keeping him as a utility than selling him and then spending 10s of millions on a new backup with no connection to the club or relying on a kid to replace his experience.
06 Jun 2026 16:23:31
Joe must stay till he scores a goal. You all know, if he ever leaves, he will score about 6 seconds into his first game for another team, and that would be a tragedy. It has to happen in a Liverpool jersey in front of the Kop.
06 Jun 2026 16:52:39
Has anyone ever asked if Square Tomato is actually Joe Gomez himself????
06 Jun 2026 17:09:16
St knows Joe, and, going on past information, we have no reason to doubt that. Glad to see you back on the pages, Square.
06 Jun 2026 17:52:29
Pay him for the games he plays, he'd end up owing us!
Let him stay, it's not a youth club, get him gone with some sort of money to reinvest in a fit and healthy starter, why will next season be any different for the last 3 or 4 at least, paying a wage for someone who's always on the treatment table is bad business / planning no matter how nice the guy is or what his wife wants !!!
He should have been replaced years ago, we need to sell weaker players and defo ones coming up to the last 12 months or just keep losing them for nothing.
06 Jun 2026 23:09:10
Like Joe, I really do, but the injuries are too frequent and he, along with Jones, should be sold this window. Jones is just not good enough... Joe is, it's the injuries that's key here.
Really nice to see you back ST.
07 Jun 2026 00:31:46
Joe shouldn't be allowed to leave until he scores a goal.
07 Jun 2026 04:13:38
Good to hear from you, Squarey. Been a long while. With several senior players going and a few young CBs coming in, I think it's very important Joe hangs around. Who knows, maybe he will stay for longer!
