Question for eds (if you have the time) and reds.

This season we were a third tier team in the champions league (I think) which seems weird seeing as we made the final.

When will it be decided what tier Liverpool will be in next season? Will winning or not winning the league make a difference, and what other factors are considered?

Robbiesline

{Ed002's Note - Winning league or CL will be pot 1 - else pot 2 or 3 depending on ranking and who else qualifies.}

1.) 05 Feb 2019 07:30:57
The pot you go in is based on European performance over the last 5 years I believe? But if you win the league or champions league you automatically go in pot 1. We were on the cusp of pot 2/ 3 this year so at a guess I think if we beat Bayern that will probably bump us up into pot 2 but a lot has to do with who qualifies.

No word of a lie, I saw timo werner near wlva rd. In a grey mazzarati. God knows why. Reckon he will be a liverpool player next year.

Robbiesline

1.) 02 Feb 2019 20:40:09
Or Everton?

2.) 02 Feb 2019 20:43:47
Think he was supposed to go to Blackpool.

3.) 03 Feb 2019 10:29:48
Timo was in a grey Walter Mazzarri? Got nothing against it, but I didn’t know Walter had gone grey already. But if he is signing, then it’s good to know he’s enjoying the sights and attractions of Liverpool already. 👍.

4.) 03 Feb 2019 18:50:01
‘God knows why’ 😂😂.

Hi ed02 (or anyone, eds or reds)

Do we still have interest in the young full back from Bristol City?

Robbiesline

{Ed002's Note - There is nothing new.}

1.) 10 Jan 2019 10:13:36
i very much doubt they would sell him mid season! potentially one for the summer but i imagine most big clubs would be looking at him, having a very good season!

2.) 10 Jan 2019 10:18:17
Lloyd Kelly could be a very smart purchase, he’s a big, quick, mobile, a good defender and a good footballer (he dominates players who are a lot older than him) . He can also cover left back comfortably as well as centre back. To my mind he looks like he has the ability to step up, the same way Rob Jones did.

3.) 10 Jan 2019 10:41:52
Id take another rob jones alright!

I wonder if klopp his fuming at his players.

Robbiesline

1.) 11 Jul 2020 17:33:33
I hope firmino - the more I watch the more I think
Someone else can link up play but also take more
Shots and try to be tenacious with wanting to score
He doesn’t seem that way anymore like he’s been
Told your always going to play bro.

2.) 11 Jul 2020 18:44:01
redrebel, he's one of the most important players in the squad that's why mate.

3.) 11 Jul 2020 19:17:40
Firmino was arguably the best player on the pitch today. Very unfortunate not to come away with a goal and a few assists. His link/ hold up play is probably the best in Europe.

4.) 11 Jul 2020 21:27:14
No way - plenty of other players who can link up - he needs to start scoring and klopp needs to start telling him instead of trying to be content with average all the time
He doesn’t score - you know what - I bet wiijnaldum
Would score a ton on his position - and we all know
He can play higher up the pitch
He has an eye for goal and score all types
Great at link up play

I think lfc r a top team that can continue but I’m sick
Of firmino getting in the team with 0 goals - the new be benteke.

5.) 11 Jul 2020 21:55:40
Redrebel1, the fact that you are calling Bobbie the new Benteke just shows how OTT your posts are. Pls, take a day off, man. You sound bitter and are overreacting.

6.) 11 Jul 2020 21:55:48
I find it strange that Man City won 5-0 every game
And they r so far away from lfc in the twble.

7.) 11 Jul 2020 22:53:22
City won 5-0 every game? when was that?

8.) 12 Jul 2020 13:46:09
Scoring is not as easy as it looks and most goalscorers go in spurts. All he needs is one and the floodgates will open up.

09 Jul 2020 04:40:44
Missed the game last night. Saw some highlights.

Was Henderson as good as he looked on highlights? And was keita? he looked good also.

Sometimes I wonder if we'd be better cashing in on salah. But I must be mad. He's a goal machine. Absolutely class. Hope he stays for years to come.

Oh, I saw young Williams at lb. How did he do?

Another win, what an amazing team.

Robbiesline

1.) 09 Jul 2020 06:51:26
Henderson took his goal really well and Keita was a monster. We started the game with a really high press and Keita won the ball through the press for both of the first 2 goals, played some nice passes too and looked a lot more like the midfielder everyone thought we’d signed.

Williams played some lovely cross field passes to Trent in the beginning and then lost possession a couple of times when pressured and put us in some tricky situations and it went a bit downhill from there, started to give fouls away and was hooked at half time already on a yellow.

A steep learning curve for the young lad but no need to be too harsh on him, he’s 18 and making his prem debut on the wrong side of the pitch.

2.) 09 Jul 2020 08:43:40
William's started well but things got harder as he was up against a very quick young wing back, u could tell classic right footed left back an it showed not a long term solution .
Henderson and keita quality, Henderson might have Injured knee. Mo was great he should of had a hat trick in the end .

3.) 09 Jul 2020 08:57:05
Keita was everywhere. he had a very good game.

Hendo was Hendo and capped off his performance with a very good goal. Hopefully the injury isn't too bad and he's back soon.

For everything that people like to say about Salah I personally think he is fantastic. He has been the most consistent performer in the league for 3 years. With out him none of the success would be possible.

We should enjoy watching him instead of listening to people like Souness complain.

4.) 09 Jul 2020 09:35:00
Neco Williams - good for 25 minutes then had a dodgy 20 minutes and was taken off at half-time so he wouldn't receive a second yellow and be sent off on his full debut for the club. He needs to learn to tackle with his less dominant foot and we'll have another astonishing full-back on our hands.

Henderson was as good as always, a total stalwart but Ox seemed slightly off his normal game (might need another game to get back to normal) . Keita was very good early on and had a good overall game. Fab made a difference when he came on.

Sadio made a big difference when he came on. his close control and general ability just cause teams to back off and consequently give us chances we wouldn't otherwise get. I'm going to keep Bobby out of it because I see things through Bob-tinted glasses. so to me, he's always brilliant. The notion of selling Mo is as crazy as you think it is. He was the true standout performance only let down by not getting what seemed an absolute sitter for his hattrick.

On an honest note, Lamptey had a good game for them and looks a handful. and if not for the early part of the game things were very even.

5.) 09 Jul 2020 09:35:41
First 10 mins we started really well. Went 2 up and seem to drop off the pace. Brighton played well tbf. Salah could of had another couple more goals he just keep going and going.

6.) 09 Jul 2020 09:36:41
Yes you are mad. Just ask yourself how much it would cost to replace Salah and those 20-30 goals every season? His occassional selfishness can be a pain to watch but its in the nature of the animal. I applaud Firmino for handing Salah his first goal on a platter but he should have taken the shot himself; would have done him a world of good.

7.) 09 Jul 2020 09:53:25
First 10 minutes, was very good by all, very good pressing and capitalising on Brighton not being able to cope and forcing the errors that lead to goals. Going 2 up we seemed to take foot of the gas. Hendo, Naby and Salah maybe the only ones trying to keep it up.

I thought Naby was the best player on the pitch before he was subbed, always looking to get the team going forward, and his pressing leading to the errors by Brighton for the first two goals.
Williams showed some promise, threat and some good feet early on, but also some inexperience, which is to be expected as he was playing out of position. He was starting to look uncomfortable at left back and maybe trying too be to clever a couple of times, he was given a tough time by Lamptey, and understandably replaced by Robbo at half time, maybe also due to the yellow card he got.

Future looks bright for the lad though. Probably a far better right back than a lot of other teams have as their starter.

Summary, LFC very good for ten minutes, then mediocre for the next sixty, then looked better again when Robbo and Mane occupied the left. Brighton could quiet easily have had one or two more though. Sometimes we just seem to switch off and get a little complacent.

8.) 09 Jul 2020 09:54:32
The lads look good, defence was a bit shaky first half, better when robbo came on. Williams played okay, his positioning and desire to go forward was a bit too much at times, he struggled with Brighton's lb, lapertay, but he made some good tackles and looked good going forward, gave the ball away a bit too much maybe, but his first pl debut, he did okay. Keita looked class, assisted again and nearly set up Salah twice. He played very well. Henri played well, cracking goal. Overall a good performance from the boys, just a shame we conceded!

9.) 09 Jul 2020 10:24:55
Henderson put in a captains performance, Keita stepped up and is looking good - he's good at winning the ball back and moving it around and added a few Keita moves, as he gets more confident and the team get use to his moves I think he will be a starter.

I would only cash in on Salah if he lost his pace, what is that 73 goals in 104 league appearances - he is special. Young Williams started well and then struggled once Brighton got into the game and targeted him. I would not want to expose him on the left again and keep his appearances on the right.

10.) 09 Jul 2020 10:25:16
Williams did well considering he played LB. '
Hendo was awesome
Keita seems to be finding some form.
Team did well as did Brighton.
good game.

11.) 09 Jul 2020 11:14:09
i have to say when Hendo first came i wasnt sure, but give the lad his due he has worked his socks off and is a superb captain and leader on the pitch, and is definitely the heart beat of the team and sets the tempo. player of the year without a shadow.

Just watched klopp interview today. And burst into tears. It's been absolute joy to support this club but also absolutely heart breaking. I've never given up hope, we've never given up hope. I thought I'd taken this all a bit too casually, wondered why it didn't feel as special as I thought it should. Then klopp looks to the camera and says "this is for you and its an honour to do it for you" and the dam broke. Oh my god.

I don't know how to say it any differently. Thank you klopp. Thank you Henderson. Thank you Virgil. Than you to all the boys. Thank you to all the amazing fans that make this club so special. You've made an old man very very proud.

And a thank you to the eds and all the posters that make this a very special place for a non liverpudlian to revel in our successes and near misses. I love you all. Amazing. Absolutely amazing. I recommend leaving it 30 years between titles, as when it comes it's so so amazing.

I cannot wait to see the boys run out at the ethiad. More tears I suspect. YNWA X

GET INNNNNNNNNN.

Kloptimism is infectious, great leaders awaken the mass.

21 Jun 2020 00:22:49
I don't know about everyone else but I've suddenly been hit by this massive hit of adrenaline. I can barely breathe thinking we are 2 wins. Potentially 4 days from winning the Premier league. Jesus man. I think the way we were playing before the break, we all just expected to win the league but the anticipation of "will we finish the season, won't we" and now we are going to. I can't believe it. I haven't had a drink for a long time but I will the day we win it (if we win it, surely we will)

Robbiesline

1.) 21 Jun 2020 11:51:54
Keep an iced bottle of water at your side at all times. Not worth giving yourself a heart attack! (But keep a drink aside for me also, LOL) . 😉.

17 Jun 2020 04:00:54
Who does everyone fancy to score our first goal? I think Everton will be tight, they have a great manager and were playing okay before the break. For that reason I reckon Hendo.
If it's a forward I fancy salah.

Robbiesline

1.) 17 Jun 2020 06:56:45
Everton without the home crowd behind them will be a walk over. Mane to score first.

2.) 17 Jun 2020 08:21:38
Admire your confidence Thunderbird, don’t thing they will be a walk over though mate, very much the opposite infact could well be a tricky game.

3.) 17 Jun 2020 14:13:42
Pickford for me.

4.) 17 Jun 2020 22:08:13
With you there, Hhanif005. The most dreadful GK in the PL (neck and neck with the other clown Kepa from Chelsea) has been throwing them in all season long so won't be surprised if he throws one in again com Sun.

Salah isn't getting a Hollywood move based on last night's performance. He's brilliant, don't get me wrong, but Madrid, Barcelona or juve won't take him imo.

The ox has definitely given klopp something to think about. It was only genk though. I'd bring him on at 60 minutes. Open the tired defence.

Dembeles unvieling said it all i think. The kid couldn't even do one keep up when they announced him. He looked like the kid in the playground who couldn't kick a ball. i've rarely seen a pro footballer (even semi pro) who couldn't dazzle me with keep ups and tricks. I don't doubt dembele could. But he has so much pressure on him and was sold too soon. A kid thrown into the snakepit that is the Barcelona dressing room.

They, and he, would've been better off had they not signed him. There is a message there if you have the wit to see it.

I believe him when he says that. He was a red for years. We developed him into one of the best players in the world. It has been said that he regrets leaving Liverpool and i believe that too.

It won't be the only motivation behind him snubbing utd, much more likely is the state that utd are in right now. But i believe that liverpool are part of the reason.

Dodgy theory: coutinio, through his agent, generates interest in a utd move. Snubs them at the last minute because he still has love for liverpool. Paving the way for pipco's return.

I know it's not this simple but, would you rather have becker and vvd or coutinio? Even coutinio on top form, I'd pick the keeper and cb. I don't think our rise in fortunes is just because pc left, and I think he's a brilliant footballer (on form and full of confidence) but I wonder if we'd have over turned that 3 0 defecit to Barcelona with Phil in the team. I don't think so.

It's klopp. I like the wolves manager. Wilder has done well, I simply don't like him. He's proper hard on his players and he thinks he's the big man, it's the players who have done the hard work.

City will without doubt be there abouts. How can you doubt it? They play such nice football, totally dominant. We are better defensively but they will be there. A tough adversary. It is amazing that we beat them and by so much. We have one of the best teams the league has seen. On top song they are as good as there's ever been, and they're consistent. City are capable of 100 points and we need to be too.
