Eds, do you think that there will be both CDM/ CB movement from Liverpool this winter or it is more likely that they do business in summer?

Read report about Todibo from Nice, they look pretty solid in deffence this season. Is he a possible target considering the Nice- United newly formed ties?

Thank you for your work and reports.

Plovdiv

{Ed002's Note - Jean-Clair Todibo (CB) Various scouts, including a very high-end independent scout and ex-PL player who has recently been helping Manchester United and Liverpool together with Newcastle, Aston VIlla and Lyon have been looking. Bayern Munich, Spurs, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United have declared an interest, but Nice are still looking for perhaps €50M to sell and Manchester United have a preferred first choice addition - so they would likely make two additions at CB over two windows. Spurs might provide a wildcard option but I would expect Liverpool to look to other options first.}

1.) 29 Nov 2023 17:58:57
Ed02 and maybe you can't or you have addressed it already but can you tell us a few of the "other" options we are looking at for the CB position? Thanks, man.

{Ed002's Note - I have provided a list.}

21 Aug 2023 00:17:09
Eds, is there any possibility for going for Antonio Silva? He looks like generational talent.

Plovdiv

{Ed002's Note - Antonio Silva (CB) Benfica say that "many scouts" have been to watch the player - perhaps they are looking for someone to pay his €100M buy out clause - a move at that price seems unlikely but PSG are keen. Juventus and Napoli would want a reduction in the asking price to make any move viable. Newcastle would like to do something but it looks difficult for this window. Looked at by Spurs, whose interest may well have gone, and Manchester United as an option to replace Maguire. For Liverpool perhaps a Konate replacement but very, very unlikely. Discussed with Chelsea during a conversation about another player.

1.) 21 Aug 2023 10:13:13
The last generational talent we chased was Jude Bellingham. I hate we chase after generational talent.

2.) 21 Aug 2023 11:00:34
The term "generational talent" gets thrown around so much these days. Messi was a generational talent, as was Ronaldo. This lad is just really promising and 19.

3.) 21 Aug 2023 11:29:22
First time I heard the term was when ed1 referred to Bellingham as it. It’s a good term and I’m sure it was used long before then but I choose to blame him for the influx of its usage. Now I’m a starlet fan myself.

4.) 21 Aug 2023 11:57:18
TAA is a generational talent and we plucked him from our academy, there is a chance that Stefan B could also be a generational talent.

5.) 21 Aug 2023 13:34:01
You also playing football manager mate?

6.) 21 Aug 2023 17:03:21
I have not in a while, last time was when I noticed Szoboszlai years before anyone else and he is now in Liverpool :D.

7.) 21 Aug 2023 18:53:46
‘Generational talent’, ‘embarrassing’, ‘disgrace’, ‘legend’ to name but four, there are loads of words and phrases that are applied that are incorrect or meaningless in respect to people’s opinions about a game where people kick a ball about for entertainment.

18 Aug 2023 09:30:01
Morning Eds, I remember that you said Hincapir is not a Liverpool's target so today's speculations are probably wrong? Also is Theate a target, L'Equipe talk about interest.

Plovdiv

{Ed002's Note - Piero Hincapie (CB) I cannot see any interest of Nottingham Forest going anywhere - an option for West Ham. Scouted and rejected by Spurs, Probably not good enough to be a starter in the Premier League just yet. Tapsoba is likely leaving which means Bayer Leverkusen may hang on to him.
Arthur Theate (CB) Moved to Rennes last summer and they have no interest in selling and that was explaine to Fulham who enquired.}

1.) 18 Aug 2023 10:20:30
Hincapie’s agent is the last person I’d want anything to do with right now.

2.) 18 Aug 2023 10:50:26
I’m sure the feelings mutual ??.

3.) 18 Aug 2023 15:16:08
Who's his agent?

{Ed002's Note - Manu Sierra.}

4.) 18 Aug 2023 22:04:09
Isn't he Caicedo's agent or something?

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

15 Aug 2023 12:24:09
Eds, is Douglas Luiz considered an option? Neil Jones states so but I guess he will be hard to get. Do you think it is possible?

Plovdiv

{Ed002's Note - Douglas Luiz (CM/DM) Juventus, Arsenal and Spurs offer options. Aston Villa are working on a replacement. I am not aware of any approach by Liverpool.}

1.) 15 Aug 2023 14:17:11
Do you think Neil Jones is reliable then, in the last few years he seems like he is getting the wrong info from the club. Anyway, if we are looking for Prem proven abd quality DM, who is attainable the options are poor Doucoure and Luiz, BrunoG would be the dream option but too hard.

Thank you again for clarifying all that mess this transfer window is for Liverpool.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea who he is.}

2.) 15 Aug 2023 15:07:58
Former journo at LiverpoolEcho and Goal, sometimes he is given the wrong information like with Szoboszlai but sometimes heads on. Thank you again.

3.) 15 Aug 2023 15:42:11
The club seems to routinely take advantage of today's media climate, and use these guys to frame stories or throw up smoke to help them leverage something else they're actually pursuing. They know full well which people will post whatever news is fed to them, and won't ask a lot of tough follow up questions before putting info out there. To these so called journalists, getting information directly from the club is valuable unto itself and something that can be used to direct attention and increase web traffic with.

4.) 15 Aug 2023 18:41:06
U don't go and ask a king whose the peasant mate.

14 Aug 2023 11:10:26
Eds do you know what Lavia's personal preference right now is? And will Chelsea outbid that 60 million offer if there is any?

Plovdiv

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea are confident the player wishes to join them.}

1.) 14 Aug 2023 11:33:21
So we screwed right again except if Lavia and his agents did not do what Caicedo did and just made the other club they wanted in the beginning pay more. But I suppose that all that saga left a taste of bitterness in Lavia

Thank you for your information.

2.) 14 Aug 2023 11:36:23
You can only laugh.
We are an absolute mess.
Started so well as well with Mac and Dom.
As I said before we won’t get anyone in.

3.) 14 Aug 2023 11:37:28
If Chelsea get Lavia too we really will look like a laughing stock. They on the other hand will have the best midfield arguably in world football perhaps other that Madrid.

4.) 14 Aug 2023 11:47:22
You would have to assume though that by Liverpool making this new offer that we would also be confident that the player wishes to join.

5.) 14 Aug 2023 11:47:27
Please explain what we are a mess. There's not a lot we can do if clubs are prepared to pay ridiculous amounts of money in salaries and transfer fees. There is not way that Lavia and Caceido are worth £170m between them with about 70PL games played. Stop with the faux embarrassment it's, erm, embarrassing.

6.) 14 Aug 2023 11:49:29
Love the optimism.

7.) 14 Aug 2023 11:57:10
Spot on johnnyr1970.

8.) 14 Aug 2023 12:00:28
£60m sounds ridiculous.

9.) 14 Aug 2023 12:00:57
Agreed jonny.

10.) 14 Aug 2023 12:05:00
I won’t lose any sleep over Lavia if he goes to Chelsea.

Move on …. let’s see who we get.

Silver lining is we have been instrumental in Chelsea paying well over the odds for a couple of players…. We got McAllister for the amount they overspent!

11.) 14 Aug 2023 12:05:57
So many trolls in the comments on this thread. Go back to the United or City pages where you came from. How is it a mess? Liverpool were told MC wanted to join, they bid, he changed his mind, not their issue. RL was not valued at 50 mil by the club but due to MC changing his mind they have had to pay more to get a player to fill the DM position. If he goes to Chelsea so be it. We will get two more in before the window shuts.

12.) 14 Aug 2023 12:08:12
@johnnyr1970, is Liverpool an European Royalty? Yes or No.

If yes, Is low balling and submitting 4 or 5 bids an accepted behaviour of an European Royalty? Yes or No.

13.) 14 Aug 2023 12:08:31
Chelsea are blowing everyone out of the water with their 8 year deals for these young kids.

I hope the agent has the kid's best interest at heart. Ahem.

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea are not the only club to offer long contracts to youngsters - Liverpool do it as well.}

14.) 14 Aug 2023 12:12:11
I mean regardless of what you think, this can not be viewed as anything but a mess now. I'm not sold on lavia, and caciedo wanted chelsea so it is what it is, but realistically what took this so long when we knew hendo and fabs were leaving.

15.) 14 Aug 2023 12:18:46
How isn’t it a mess? We messed Southampton around and lowballed them, messed Lavia around and dropped interest in him for Caicedo only to be told by Caicedo he had absolutely zero interest in joining us and never has had. Which basic due diligence would have established. Then to lose out on Caicedo and go back cap in hand to Southampton offering £14m more than we’d offered previously with the player noe feeling somewhat annoyed by our antics and apparently deciding he wants nothing to do with us. To me that’s a heady combination of incompetence, negligence and stupidity.

16.) 14 Aug 2023 12:19:15
Could this be the season when a number of our youth players really step up? Elliot looked excellent yesterday, whilst bradley and doak are top prospects.
Money can't always win over, surely.

17.) 14 Aug 2023 12:21:39
If we paid the 50 million they were asking for we would have wrapped the transfer up a week ago.
Let's hope clubs are still willing to sell quality defensive midfielders with two weeks of the window left.
As i said a week ago, each day that passes it will get increasingly harder to convince clubs to sell us their player's, as they will want to get a replacement in.

18.) 14 Aug 2023 12:29:21
Completely agree with you Victor, for want of a better word it's a sh#tshow.

19.) 14 Aug 2023 12:31:33
Yeah, totally normal business. Nothing to see here. Move on. We all live in Boehly's world now.

20.) 14 Aug 2023 12:31:44
Unfortunately monkey it almost always does, big money spent wins leagues, the only anomaly in recent times being Leicester.

21.) 14 Aug 2023 12:35:56
I see the word 'lowballing' is out again. And once again I remind people of the word 'negotiation'. Football is a massive business, running a club requires adult/ sensible/ prudent business and financial decisions. Let's stop with the childish 'lowballing' nonsense, if we can save a few millions when buying these players then it can basically pay their wages for a couple of years - we need to move on from this stuff, especially as none of us is in the room for these conversations (and nor is Romano with his minute by minute updates on Twitter) .

22.) 14 Aug 2023 12:59:32
Ed02, if Chelsea are confident he wants to join them, why do you feel LFC have bid again? Surely they would want to avoid another embarrassing situation and just walk away?

{Ed002's Note - That is why clubs need to sell their project to the player. Newcastle have had a muber of offers accepted for players but have been unable to convince the players to join them.}

23.) 14 Aug 2023 12:59:33
@johnnyr

Thank you for summarising the voice of a reasonable fan who supports his club.

I don’t need a load of trolls to tell me I should be embarrassed every 5 minutes on here. I’m not.

24.) 14 Aug 2023 13:33:13
Leek - not the european royalty thing again. How many bids did Bayern and Chelsea take to secure their respective targets.

25.) 14 Aug 2023 13:51:51
@Faithinworks, is bargaining like on Alibaba or flea market a classy behaviour of an aristocrat?

26.) 14 Aug 2023 13:58:22
That is a very good point ED, about selling the project to the player. I think that was what convinced Van Dijk and Alisson to sign. What project are Liverpool offering to players right now? Difficult to say right? I don’t think the club has dealt with things in a way a club of Liverpools stature should, and I think we will see knock-on effects from that.

27.) 14 Aug 2023 17:23:06
Sean,
I don't think Liverpool is in a worst position to sell a project right now than Chelsea. If you say the people are not doing a good job at it or the other team offers champions league football, I would understand but it's ridiculous to say Liverpool don't have a good project to sell.
But I agree with the fact the club didn't act according to the situation they are in from the beginning. They acted like business as usual, as if they have a winning squad and they are out there to complement it.

Is there any grain of truth in the Andre information coming from Brasil? Are not Fulham the favorites for him?

Plovdiv

1.) 16 Jul 2023 00:51:52
Wonder be surprised if he ended up back with Katie Price.

03 Jul 2023 18:43:39
If Arsenal get Lavia, who is next on the DM radar? Thuram does not seem like a good DM to me and Kone is injured so I guess there is someone else.

Plovdiv

1.) 03 Jul 2023 18:52:14
I reckon fabinho will be back to his best next season and have baj under his wing. Get thuram in 100%.

2.) 03 Jul 2023 18:52:22
I would have a search on the Rumours pages to find out what Ed002 thinks if I was you. He's listed midfield options at least 2 times in the last few weeks.

3.) 03 Jul 2023 19:14:48
I think yunus Musah is underated as a DM and I think will count as homegrown when 21. Could be wrong on that.

Amrabat is playing some really good football and experienced. Another one who is underated. Would be a big leader too.

Fofana of Monaco looks a beast.

Maybe they go for experience like brozovic. Great player.

There are great players out there but if Liverpool miss out on Thuram and Lavia, who knows what they ll do. It's a lot of ifs and only they will know.

4.) 03 Jul 2023 19:31:21
Davey, Musah is a good shout but also don't think he would count as HG. For HG you need to have played for an English team for 3 years between 16-21. He was at Arsenal until he was 16y 9m (ish) and he is already 20 so won't have got the years in.

5.) 03 Jul 2023 19:48:51
Davey, brozovic is off to Saudi Arabia.

Ed002, who do you think is the alternative to the DM spot if the club does no manage to secure Doucoure?

Plovdiv

{Ed002's Note - I expect Liverpool would use Endo.}

Yes I read it and thank you for that but I am asking if you think that there is a chance for Gravenberch + DM or it is more likely that he will be molded into one.

Eds, do you think that if this is true, that is all for Liverpool midfield rebuild? Tbf Gravenberch seems like an 8 to me, not a 6 which is much more needed unless they rely on Endo for the full season which seems a risk.

Plovdiv

{Ed002's Note - I have explained about Gravenberch for a very long time. Read the posts or search.}
