Whether you like Konate or not just imagine the team this year without him? We were depleted last season. Now add Konate, Robertson who was hardly used, and Salah - I know it’s not even June but me personally I am extremely worried how thin this squad is …..
I say this by not counting on Bradley return or Gomez or Elliott cos when u hardly play u r not really reliable.
I just don’t believe this club will buy or loan 8-9 players.

Add in a coach who gets players fit enough to play intensive football.
A coach who improves players.
A coach who can get players to fit into his system.
The squad was bloated last year, bloated, unbalanced, unmotivated and unfit.
We don't need that many new players in my opinion, but we do need a coach who will get the players fit and will optimise their abilities.
Bloating the squad because your players are unfit and out of form is not the solution.

It seems pretty clear we will recall a couple of loans, buy Wharton and Diomande or Barcola, another midfielder and a utility back. I don't worry about central defence. Guys like Nyoni and Morrison will get more minutes.

We are not getting rid of Konate. We are not re-signing him. There's a difference.
To keep him would mean giving him another contract and it'd be like signing him again, which would be a mistake.
We need to do more work on replacements than we thought after the season we had, but Konate thinks he is worth more than the club does.
Him staying would give us another body, but it's not seen as value for money.
I agree. If the two young centre halves are not seen as ready, then a better value Konate replacement shouldn't be too difficult to find.

I would prefer we replace a poor manager who does not suit the club of the city of Liverpool and have another clear out and recruitment drive, wrapping up the new squad by the winter window, and if that means another season of hit and miss performances, maybe a good effort in one of the cups, and a top four finish then I will take it, as long as that means we are progressing in an upward trajectory.

I doubt anyone remembers now, but I used to be fairly active on here (we're talking ten years agoish probably ). I used to love interacting with Ed002, Ed001 etc and Ed001's match reports. Life got in the way, I got married, moved to the US, got stabbed, ups and downs of life. I've been lurking on the site for a long while now and just wanted to say thanks to all you contributors who kept me going when it was darkest with your posts, and the eds who make it all work.

What's getting rid of Konate got to do with Vvd or the midfield?
Konate had a job to do and, apart from 2 or 3 matches when Gomez played at RB and helped Konate out, he has not done his job.
There are a fair few others who also had poor seasons but Konate's contract is up and paying him (allegedly) £200k+ a week and bonuses on top is a massive waste of money.

I would've preferred Konate to stay due to we have enough to do this summer without looking for another, we definitely need a cb with good experience to compliment our young cbs + an ageing Vvd who plays too much at his age.
The way Konate has played this season, he doesn't deserve 20k a week let alone 200k, but u could say that for 90% of squad. If we can get somebody decent in, Konate won't be that much of a loss, but v disappointing he leaving for free.

Even if the midfield is awful, you still have to perform your own role well.
Konate has had a thorough stinker of a season and shouldn't have been anywhere near the starting eleven.
With that in mind, you would be mad to offer him the money he's supposedly after, £250k a week, which, broadly speaking, equals around a total package (without bonuses) of £45 million to the club on a three year deal.

Konate is a rank average defender, and that's all there is to it.
He is neither aggressive nor brave enough for someone so big. He wins plenty of duels, but any headers or tackles he does win normally go straight back to the opposition (which is partly him, partly his teammates).
In possession, he is probably worse than average overall, and definitely worse than defenders at other top clubs.
He is next to useless from attacking set pieces.
Do not compare current Konate with the defender with the one we signed in 2021, who had an excellent first season. He has substantially regressed since then.
Let Jacquet and Leoni fight for his position while we focus on signing a top class VVD replacement. Ed001 has mentioned Murillo - I don't know. He's a very solid defender (fundamentally, one of the best in the league) but I'd always be wary of his height and the fact that he's predominantly left-footed.

Hi, genuine question, what happened to this site?
It used to be a transfer rumour site where people came to see what eds had heard and get some insight into potential deals. Now it feels like half the site is people pretending to be Fabrizio Romano.
I've seen several self-proclaimed ITKs on here who haven't got a single thing right, yet people still treat them like tier-one sources and hang on every word they post.
Maybe I've missed something, but it feels like the site has gone from transfer information to fantasy reporting.

Some posters are putting so-called in the know info which is made up, and just reflects their personal positions.
It's tricky to disprove. Things change quickly in football as we know, and given our psychology as fans, we want to hear something which gives us hope.
We all want Enrique or Jurgen, who wouldn't.

Also tbh not sure how much the Ed's know, who they know or what circles they work in or have worked in. But no one questioned their knowledge or contacts. So should we question other people that post information?
Yes of course you get the odd one or two that want to be in the know.
But I believe that the likes of Carra, thefields, RobboLFC and others post just to let us know what is going on. Bit of course I could be wrong, it all is just a matter of opinion:)

The reason why there's so many 'ITK's popped up recently is because we're in a bit of turmoil as a club, and there's way too many people on here who eat it up, praise their favourites, and who poop on those who disagree or have a different favourite.
That's not to say I think they're all fake. I believe some may have some sort of source, but until anything happens to prove or disprove them, it's essentially just the same as hearing a rumour from a guy down the pub.

It's a rumours site, so rumours are meant to be posted. There are only a few people who claim to be ITK, and some of them post information which bears fruit.
I have no problem with people posting information which is then proven incorrect.
It means things have changed since they posted, their sources were incorrect, or like I'm sure there's a few they are waffling.
Some of the ITK will disappear after they have made big calls and proven wrong.
They are the ones who were making stuff up.

I stopped seeing this site as a 'rumours' page years ago and see it more as a community for (mostly) like minded people to chew the fat and discuss football.
Over the years, you get to recognise posters and for a while, there was a stable community of regulars with insight from the Eds. It has become a little stake recently with what seems to be an influx of new users, whether they are just a small group creating multiple accounts, who knows, but seems to have coincided with Ed2s unfortunate passing.
Either way, I'll keep coming back as it's a fun distraction.

What's everyone's thoughts on Rayan at Bournemouth? Rw but can play across the front. Same age as Diomande. Bournemouth paid £25m in Jan and even if we doubled that it would still be £35m cheaper than Diomande. We could get Rayan and Akliouche and sort the rw out for £100m or less.
Rayan has played 15 games, has 5 goals and 2 assists.
