Kelleher appreciation post! I watched the lad play live for our u21's in around 2015/ 2016 in a friendly vs MK Dons senior team. He was superb. Best player on pitch alongside Harry Wilson, on the day. Made good saves, showed good kicking ability etc. After the game all the kids were down behind the goal and he stayed for about 15 minutes doing photos and autographs. I think I posted on here straight after that he'd be a star and I'm glad he lived up to it! Had Alisson not come through the door, Kelleher would probably have a couple hundred appearances by now. Klopp even called him "world class" and "the best no.2". Sadly for us, he's just too good now to not be a no.1.
He's everything our great club is about and I wish him the absolute best of luck at Brentford.

Always wish him well. He’s been a consummate professional, never complained and has been a top drawer back up from the off. I think we should be getting more than the rumoured 18m in this market, but hey ho.
01 Jun 2025 18:51:08
Done v well for us and seemingly has great attitude, wish him nothing but the best.
If he came threw any other time in last years 40years he would've been no.1.
01 Jun 2025 18:52:47
Special memories we’ll remember forever.
But We’ve been ripped off massively, Edwards has had a shocker there.
£12m possibly raising to £18m. The kid is a champions league proven goalkeeper. We’ve had a mare with that.
01 Jun 2025 18:54:03
Biased as an Irishman, but he has been a key part of some great cup runs and quietly kept the wheels on the road when Ali has been injured. Also quietly a pretty funny guy. Happy he is going to a club like Brentford. Hope the club and players give him a good send off.
01 Jun 2025 19:11:05
LFC8 - After all Kweev has done for us I think it would have been wrong to price him out of a move.
01 Jun 2025 19:16:05
He got priced out of a move last year, better getting a fee and letting the lad go and play, can’t win sometimes to cheap moan, price a player out of a move moan.
01 Jun 2025 19:21:05
It was really nice having a fellow Cork man in the team. Never let the side down!
01 Jun 2025 19:00:46
Would also say his salary has been really low and he has contributed a lot for that amount, more than most back ups. Possibly the club kept the deal sweet for Brentford, Leverkusen and Caoimhin himself all around?
01 Jun 2025 19:03:23
Not biased, Skeletor. I make you correct. With him in goal we’ve won 2 league cups finals. He more than played his part in this League title too whilst Alisson was injured.
01 Jun 2025 19:06:48
Lfc8 from what I’m hearing it’s all part of a bigger plan.
Leverkusen wanted the Brentford keeper but they wouldn’t let him go without a replacement. We’ve greased the wheels here for Leverkusen to get their man and hasten the negotiations with them over Wirtz.
01 Jun 2025 19:28:41
Good keeper with a very bright future ahead of him. Worth more than what we got too. Best of luck kell.
01 Jun 2025 19:44:23
Who will ever forget he scored the winning penalty versus Chelsea to win a Cup Final, that goalkeeping penalty record could stand for a very, very long time hopefully!
He played 10 premier games this season which is circa a quarter of the season, so fully earned his winners medal to go with the other 4 winners medals at the club (1 Euro Cup,2 prems, fa cup, efl cup) .
In total he played 20 games (10 prem,10 cups) this season, which you could say theoretically Becker had 20 rests this season (although some were injuries of course, who could forget his concussion episodes? (ThunderBird 2 LOL! )
Also Republic of Irelands goalkeeper, how many international teams have had basically a number two keeper as their first choice keeper for their country!
01 Jun 2025 19:44:30
Maybe he stayed on for another season on the understanding that the club would make it easier for him to go. He does stay, he does play when Alisson was injured, we win the League and we get a fee with new cover already on the way.
Yeah, I can see how we've had a nightmare ?.
01 Jun 2025 20:10:30
I thought Hughes was in charge of transfers? Where does Edwards come into it? Either way, one of them has had a "nightmare". Sack em.
01 Jun 2025 20:34:26
Hi Davey Sulls,
Caoimhin Kelleher has always been a "CORKER"!
01 Jun 2025 20:36:45
Rome, nobody knows they are supposed to be doing anymore. And that's after a season of moaning about them not doing what they are supposed to be doing.
Them not doing what they are supposed to be doing and us not knowing what they were supposed to be doing leaves us as Champions, Salah and VvD re-signing, not allowing TAA run down his contract and an exciting transfer window before it even opened.
Just let them carry on not doing what they are supposed to be doing! ?.
01 Jun 2025 20:58:55
"We’ve had a mare with that.3
LFC08, did it ever occur to you that the club rewarded Kellerher for all he had done for us by not standing in his way by not pricing him out of a move? Just asking.
01 Jun 2025 21:07:33
Oli have you ever thought about paying to watch a game.
Just asking.
01 Jun 2025 21:11:27
Keheller has to be the best number 2 for us for a long time . we've got the best goalkeeper in the world in Alisson but he is injured a lot so we've needed Keheller big time n he's hardly let us down, seems a gentleman n polite young man aswel. he'll be a great number 1 for someone.
01 Jun 2025 21:22:26
I get what you’re all saying, but he’s worth more isn’t he ? and you all know he’s worth more than £12m.
01 Jun 2025 21:39:28
Kelleher only a year left. 18m seems way too low but he's free next season.
01 Jun 2025 21:48:40
He was worth more than £12m last summer and he'll be worth less than £12m next summer, LFC8.
It was worth keeping him this season and we won the League. We could get nothing next season and we already have a replacement sorted.
It's hardly a nightmare.
01 Jun 2025 22:21:40
Just surprised there weren't more teams in for him.
01 Jun 2025 22:38:21
Good luck to him, the price is largely irrelevant, we just got 8 million from Real for selling Trent a month early ?
Can’t be easy being behind literally the best keeper in the world. He came in and deputised well.
Next season, vs Brentford, just launch it into the mixer, he was always suspect under the high ball.
01 Jun 2025 23:09:48
I wish Kelleher well, it’s the right time to move on but let’s not kid ourselves. He certainly would not have amassed a couple of hundred games for Liverpool. That’s pure fantasy.
01 Jun 2025 23:58:53
Thanks for everything Kelleher.
01 Jun 2025 23:59:48
TIR, he’s got 67 appearances despite being 2nd choice. If Alisson wasn’t here he’d be first choice in my opinion. Karius and Mignolet would not have kept him out the team.
02 Jun 2025 01:10:50
If Alisson wasn't here would we have won what we have won? I'll say that we wouldn't have won number 6 without him.
He's up there with VvD and Salah in terms of influences on the team.
Kelleher has been good as cover for Alisson but let's not get overly sentimental about him. TAA gets vilified and the stand-in keeper gets treated like a hero.
I don't get it.
02 Jun 2025 02:41:01
We def wouldn't have one number 6 without Alisson. Go back and rewatch the Barcelona game and you'll see he pulled off 2 huge saves to keep us in the game. That isn't to say I don't think Kelleher won't go onto to be a good keeper - just that I think its an unfair comparison. Kelleher is good with the potential to be very good but Alisson is on a different level. Will go down as the best goalie we have ever had (and that includes Clemence who I thought would never be beaten)
02 Jun 2025 03:59:38
Kelleher would probably be in the same class as Reina if he were to have played regularly for us as first choice. He is a good keeper and had the potential to be great but he was just unfortunate to have the world's best keeper ahead of him. He never moaned though and always have his all when we had to call on him. All the best to him at Brentford and I hope he sees success there.
02 Jun 2025 05:29:32
He is a very talented keeper but probably needs to go to play every week because he is always more than a bit dodgy without a run of games and takes a while to get going. Alisson is on another planet and he was never going to dislodge him, I think he isn't an s-tier keeper like Ali but probably can reach the next level as a decent premiership keeper. The fact that he is so good with his feet with shorter passes in the build up (while being nowhere near Ali at varying distances) will really help him.
02 Jun 2025 08:26:34
Liverpool would have simply purchased another keeper if it wasn’t to be Allison.
I said a few seasons ago that if Kelleher was as good as posters were making out then they may as well have sold Allison. Not much point in having 2 keepers of such high quality! You also don’t sell such high quality keepers for £12 million, even with a year left on their contract.
I like Kelleher and was a good understudy but let’s not get romantic and over egg his ability. It will be interesting to see how well he does at Brentford.
02 Jun 2025 08:58:03
I’m glad they let him leave on a good fee so he got his move but there was people on here stating he was no where near being our number 1 keeper
As a fan base we have a lot of fickle fans.
02 Jun 2025 09:18:47
Liverpool fc have treated him with the upmost respect and that’s just lovely. Good Luck and thank you Kelleher.
