Is that Macy Gray?

Agree22

06 Aug 2026 20:53:54
Last time I saw Macy Gray she was naked, but it could just be.

Agree5

06 Aug 2026 21:54:22
Is Macy Gray a Liverpool fan?

Is that where you got your name from, Flash?

Agree4

06 Aug 2026 22:56:07
Your world must have crumbled, Flash.

Agree3

07 Aug 2026 00:12:22
It was Glastonbury in 2000. She stripped off on stage as me and my brother were staggering through the crowd, trying to get to another stage. Burned into my mind.

Agree5

06 Aug 2026 18:12:56
Watching the inside training videos and wow, can that Munoz strike a ball. Left foot and right foot rockets into top corner. I think it's Davey Sulls been saying a lot that he's coming here to start, and he might be correct! Excited to see him play this weekend!

06 Aug 2026 18:40:14
The lad has just won a World Cup, even though he didn't play. The Spanish management must see something in him to include him in the squad of the world's best international team. I fully expect him to be a first team starter TBH.

I guess, because he 'only' cost £34m, he's seen as purely a bench warmer.....

Agree6

06 Aug 2026 18:57:09
Surely if he wasn't injured he would have started ahead of that Baena guy. Must be the worst player to ever start a WC Final.

Agree1

06 Aug 2026 18:59:48
Yeah, but Bernard Diomede won a World Cup too.

Agree7

06 Aug 2026 19:10:03
Ron, so did Stephane Guivarch and he was an appalling CF, despite scoring a hatful of goals in his backyard of A.J. Auxerre.

That being said, for Vic to make that brilliant Spain team sure says a lot about his talent. Hopefully, he can show it.

Agree3

06 Aug 2026 19:10:42
I think he'll be a sneaky good buy. MK was bought to challenge for first team spot and rotate in.

Not a bonafide starter, probably year one, but Iraola rotates his wingers and I think we'll see a fair bit of him.

I think if we buy Barcola, he will start for sure.

If we sell Gakpo and buy Mbaye, I think it will be a good fight between him, Munoz, and Rio for the other wing, and I suspect Munoz could come out on top in that battle.

Agree3

06 Aug 2026 19:12:19
Florian, you wanted Slot to stay.

Agree9

06 Aug 2026 19:13:47
Baena started for a reason for Spain, he gave them balance and work ethic on the left-hand side to give Yamal the freedom.

Agree7

06 Aug 2026 19:39:04
Looking forward to seeing Munoz play.

I missed him making the Spain team during the Wc, so hopefully an Anfield debut on Sunday it is.

Agree1

06 Aug 2026 19:54:44
Victor Munoz will surprise a lot of people as he might just have that unexpected wow factor like Salah/Mane-esque.
I prefer he's not seen as the one to replace Salah, but people will be shocked as how much he will progress in a short possible time in England.

Agree4

06 Aug 2026 20:13:10
Hi Frode, Enjoying your summer? Back to Munoz, I read last week that only Vinicius Jnr, Mbappe and Lamal had more completed dribbles than him in Ka Liga last year. And this is while he's playing for Osasuna.

Agree8

06 Aug 2026 23:56:05
Yeah, I'm really looking forward to him. Looks like an excellent player with crazy work rate and stamina, definitely X factor, versatile, bold and crazy humble at the same time.

He's our new "Robbo" in terms of undervalued gem from a lower side with huge speed, engine and humility.

I also think Barcola will sometimes play through the middle similar to Mbappe if Gakpo leaves and Isak needs rotating.

That would leave Rio and Munoz (and potentially Mbaye) on the wings.

All our wingers will get plenty of football to keep all of them fresh enough and still firing on all competitions. Even Koumas has a chance in my opinion to get game time, especially if Gakpo leaves.

Agree2

07 Aug 2026 10:57:55
Koumas is getting sold soon to the Championship. Cardiff I think.

Hi Ed's or anyone in the know have any update on potential takeover that broke a few weeks ago.

06 Aug 2026 18:28:01
It wasn't for a takeover, it was for a minority investment.

Agree7

06 Aug 2026 16:27:51
@VictorGoddam Don't suppose you in a position to offer any further insight into the possible marquee player?

Obviously don't risk anything pal!

06 Aug 2026 17:25:37
I wonder if where Rodri goes will affect it.

Agree1

06 Aug 2026 17:31:59
Frenkie de Jong?

Agree0

06 Aug 2026 17:44:26
One hopes it ain't Barcola: These are his stats from the PSG site:

Lyon 21-24 Ligue 1: 40 apps, 5 goals, Lyon career total 47 apps, 7 goals. 21-22 season: 11 Ligue 1 apps, zero goals, no goals in 2 cup games either.

PSG: 88 Ligue 1 apps, 29 goals over 3 seasons (4, 14, 11 goals last season). 3.03 compared to Rayans 15 PL apps, 5 goals = 3.00, obviously it's harder to score goals in the PL than a Farters league!

UEFA games: 43 apps, 6 goals, a goal circa every 7 games against much, much tougher defences than French Ligue 1, and much more elite teams are in the CL, than a poxy French Ligue
season 1 in Europe = 10 games, one goal.

season 2 in CL = 17 games, 3 goals.
last season in CL = 16 games, 2 goals.

He's a bag of Kaka? 145 million bags of it!
P.S. @suarez7, Rayan has scored 5 more PL goals than Barcola has ever scored! and more assists!

Agree4

06 Aug 2026 18:19:06
007 Barcola is a quality player. He doesn't play the full 90 in most of those appearances. He improves our team and adds pace and quality in wide areas. He is not by any means rubbish. He is not the complete article either, and maybe a little wasteful, but he is a lot better than our current options.

Agree10

06 Aug 2026 18:28:52
007 doesn't understand sample size.

Agree7

06 Aug 2026 19:10:56
@Fifth, not in the least.

Agree3

06 Aug 2026 22:26:24
Barcola is a very good player, yes, he's expensive, but so is everyone. Mane and Salah would be leaving Southampton and Roma for 85-100m each these days.

Agree2

06 Aug 2026 23:10:37
Wenger once bid one pound more for Suarez, to which John Henry famously said, "What are Arsenal smoking down there?"

If John Henry pays PSG £150 million for Barcola?

Luis Enrique will say, "Wonder what John Henry's smoking."

OliRed, Fifth Element, ye win a football opinion with facts, not childish name calling.

Wonder what you're smoking!

@Thiago that's a sensible/fair price range of 100 million Euros (£86 mill), has a smaller build than Hugo, too much to risk at £150 mill.

Agree0

07 Aug 2026 05:21:19
Not sure you can win a football opinion.

Agree3

07 Aug 2026 07:20:16
Beat me to it, @The Fifth. Is winning a football opinion a competitive pub sport?

Agree2

06 Aug 2026 16:22:36
Will LFC transfer comitte come out of transfer window with egg on face.

Salah leaving at end of season was known few months in advance.
And we had a very Big list of one Winger to replace. Diomande.
There was no Plan B.

CB; Konate was keeping them occupied while discussing with RM.
Jaquet can be his long term replacement not as a near term.

Leoni was injured.
Gomez is injury prone.
VVD is 35.

Guehi is one that went away. Again, no home worl done for Stop Gap arrangement or VVD's succesor alternates.

Jones would have gone in Jan we kept hold of him.
Endo is not favoured.
Need a DM from couple of seasons.

RW. Salah's replacement.

LW. Diaz replacement.
Pending.

CF bought quality but injury prone player in Isak.
His understudy injured.

Wirtz replaced no one in squad. Added craft but very little output.

Kelleher was sold 10m cheaper then Mama. And mama was oppurtunistic buy.

We need
Steady and reliable no 2 GK.
CB with exp.
RB who can also play CB or DM.
DM who can play CB or RB.
RW to replace Salah.

Except for perhaps RB we had 6 months to prepare the targets

Either we are acting too picky to get best or nothing.
Or they never Phanthom the primary targets will slip away.
Either case we are short on quality 1st team player and Squad fillers.

06 Aug 2026 17:24:59
I think the real answer is, now Klopp's gone it's back to normal.

He was an outstanding manager and man, FSG can put all the success they've had to that bloke.

They bought Edwards back thinking he was the man but let's be honest, Klopp probably made half the bad signings look good and the other half that were good he made look great.

Agree12

06 Aug 2026 20:08:17
Good article on TIA about Hughes hanging AI out to dry regarding transfers.

Agree0

06 Aug 2026 19:16:45
1 season of bad football and it's like yep we are back to under Hodgson, same owners that saved us from going under same owners that have given us the most success in 35 years, yes they could be better but come on.

Agree2

07 Aug 2026 06:31:28
Issue is not owners but transfer committee. Owners have sanctioned money, or we would have not pursued 100m players.

Agree1

07 Aug 2026 07:24:56
That's not how it works @bhav.

Agree1

06 Aug 2026 15:35:36
Anyone else find it hilarious how Vini Jr. used Arsenal to get a new improved contract, and everyone except Arsenal fans could see exactly what was happening 🤣 Ornstein was even reporting it in such a biased way because he’s an Arsenal fan looool.

06 Aug 2026 16:44:33
Arsenal fans redefine the term delusional.

Agree9

06 Aug 2026 17:01:33
Am sure Arsenal fans are more than delighted with their squad. Am sure they are laughing at us.

Agree14

06 Aug 2026 17:16:07
You are seriously laughing at Arsenal? League champions and Champions League finalists and favourites for a second title in a row, whilst we finished 5th and are going into the season with a weaker squad than last season. Yeah, they are a real joke!

Agree12

06 Aug 2026 17:20:27
But Arsenal don't have the best fans in the world.

Liverpool do.

Agree9

06 Aug 2026 17:33:53
Were we ever mentioned in the whole Vini saga?

Rather be linked to that type of player than not be.... Says everything about where they are and where we are.

Agree3

06 Aug 2026 17:34:11
Can't knock Arsenal's ambition in fairness.

Agree3

06 Aug 2026 18:15:20
Didn't realise this was an Arsenal blog reading some of these comments. 🤣 Settle down, fellas. You're allowed to poke fun at other teams. I personally don't believe Vini was ever properly considering joining them. His agency is RocNation, which is notorious (as we have seen) for playing clubs to get the best deal for their players.

Agree5

06 Aug 2026 19:12:43
Seriously, who in their right mind thought the "Vini Jnr to Arsenal" was a thing?

Clearly, many in the Arsenal fan base did cos they really thought that when you leave RM, Arsenal is where you go to.

As Chewy said, the delusion is epic with many in that fan base.

Agree1

06 Aug 2026 19:24:47
Glass houses, stones.

Agree5

06 Aug 2026 20:17:48
If I was an Arsenal fan I'd be breathing a big sigh of relief. The lad needs a lot more maintenance than he is worth.

Agree4

06 Aug 2026 21:54:07
Arsenal are gonna get a shock this season when they find that rugby tackles are indeed against the rules, and will be enforced for a change.

Agree1

06 Aug 2026 22:06:10
Chewy, if we finish above them we'll more than likely win the league.

Agree2

06 Aug 2026 15:31:39
With Diomande to RM official at £120m. Does this affect Barcola?

Younger, less experienced and has won back-to-back UCLs.

PSG can sit still on £145 easy now

06 Aug 2026 16:42:17
If Robbo and VG are correct, then no, as it is already a done deal. Plus, after this season he only has 12 months on his contract and so his value will drop further.

Agree4

06 Aug 2026 17:00:56
So he has 2 years left then, man of Todd?

Wishing a season away won't in itself make his price drop, mate. If they say they want £140m and we don't pay it, in the hope we get him cheaper next year is no solution to what we been right now.
We did this with Guehi and Semenio last year and are now weaker because of it? 2 class players that went to a direct rival.

For the sake of peanuts.
Personally I think Barcola at the amount they want is too much. As I think he maybe lightweight in the prem?
All in all, as each day goes by I'm convinced we are messing up, I have no trust in our recruitment team. I hope to god I'm wrong.

Agree3

06 Aug 2026 17:09:36
Chrissymate, that's not what I am saying.

I am making the point that it is a done deal already, according to two of our 4 most reliable itk.

The other point I am making is that OSG won't price him out of a move when they are already signing his replacements, and knowing that if they leave it another window Barcola's value would drop.

Also RBL have made it clear they don't want to sell Diomande, hence the inflated fee. PSG are wanting to move him on so I don't believe it will be £140m, probably between £100-120m.

Agree2

06 Aug 2026 17:35:39
After this season he has only 12 months left. 😂😂 Brilliant.

Agree3

06 Aug 2026 17:53:17
Younger, less experienced and won back to back UCLs ???

Diomande is 19 years old.
Barcola is 24 on 02 September 2026.

Agree1

06 Aug 2026 19:15:00
Not sure they are related. RM had Diomande done already, and we are full in for Barcola, and, per Robbo or TheFields, that will be done too.

Agree3

06 Aug 2026 19:39:58
Not even Real Madrid execs knew they were in for Diomande.

Agree0

06 Aug 2026 20:10:20
How much time did Hughes spend flogging that dead horse?

Agree0

06 Aug 2026 15:12:11
Anyone missing desperate scousewives considering the transfer news is very slow.

06 Aug 2026 14:30:47
Ed's do you have anything on if we have any interest on Spence?

{Ed001's Note - no.}

06 Aug 2026 15:11:17
I really hope not. He is dreadful.

Agree10

06 Aug 2026 16:19:03
Good player Spence don't understand the dislike but each to their own I suppose.

Agree11

06 Aug 2026 15:40:32
And long may that continue, Ed.

Agree3

06 Aug 2026 16:39:23
I'm with you, BeKind. If he played for a foreign club, most folk would be all over him. Left back or right back. Better than Bradley and more reliable. Definitely better than Frimpong.

Agree5

06 Aug 2026 17:36:23
Would depend on the price for me.

Agree1

06 Aug 2026 17:57:37
Love Jeremy just gutted he isn't looking like a prem player but things can change but I would swap for Spence even if Ed will personally block the move wink wink

Agree1

06 Aug 2026 18:59:24
DJed Spence is not better than Connor Bradley. Not even close.

I'm not against signing him for cover, but come on.

Agree1

{Ed025's Note - Bradley is far better RSO...at lying on a treatment table.. :)

06 Aug 2026 19:19:14
Rome, if Spence was this crap, he still wouldn't be a good player for us regardless of wherever he plays. He played at Rennes on loan, btw, before Spurs took him back and didn't do jack there, so there's your answer.

Better than Bradley? Nah, that's not a thing.

Were Bradley not having injury issues, you wouldn't mention both of them in the same breath, esp. with how Bradley lit up the scene when he got his chance and was League 1 Player of the Season prior.

More reliable? Of course. We can rely on Spence to be crap, for sure.

Agree1

06 Aug 2026 19:38:20
Oli, Djed Spence was named in the Championship Team of the Year. Are we playing Top Trumps?

I maybe wrong, but wasn't Bradley just Bolton's Player of the Year?

Agree2

07 Aug 2026 06:16:31
Rome, never let the truth get in the way of a good story mate.

Agree0

07 Aug 2026 07:15:41
I think I said the exact same thing regards to Oli, last week, JK.

Agree1

07 Aug 2026 07:42:27
You're right, Rome.
My son's mate is a Bolton fan, and he used to tell us about Bradley and his time there. My lad even jumped on the Trotters bandwagon for a weekend and went to Wembley for their play off final win.

He was Bolton's player of the season, not the League One Player of the Season.
OliRed still insists that Konate was MotM in the 2022 CL final, though.
Courtois got the award, so that ain't a thing, right?

Agree1

07 Aug 2026 08:12:28
Thank you for clarifying, Rigsby. I'm sure Oli will be on later issuing an apology for, not the first time, being factually incorrect.

Hope you're well, mate.

Agree1

07 Aug 2026 08:38:42
Rome, indeed. Bradley was Bolton Player of the year. That being said, Spence still isn't good enuff. That is my main point.

Agree1

07 Aug 2026 09:04:26
Oli, I don't necessarily want us to buy Spence, would much rather we buy Kounde or Kayode. However, I maintain that Spence is an upgrade on Frimpong, who I'd look to sell, and he's more reliable than Bradley, who I'm still not that convinced about.

As it stands, we are in the mire at RB and Spence would more than do a job. He's certainly not crap, like he's been described on here.
