Just part of Slot's post-match speech
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has been speaking after the defeat at Old Trafford: "We weren't able to control their strengths. We were aware of them in terms of set-pieces and counter-attacks. You have to know where to lose the ball if you play against Manchester United, they are really strong when they play into the middle.
They have so many fast players. Bruno Fernandes to hurt you in transition, and that's exactly what happened with the second goal."
03 May 2026 20:05:09
"So Arme, how does it feel to have been outplayed by a rookie interim manager who may not even be at United next season?"
Another awful performance to add to the many we've had this season. Please put the man out of his, and our, misery.

What was clearly more interesting were VVD's post match comments. Clearly very angry and talking about next season, already. Never seen him so free with his comments, always measured, calm and neutral in tone. First Salah earlier in the week, and now VVD. Ed001's comments about senior players being unhappy has a lot of credence to them.

03 May 2026 20:28:44
Arne is scared of his own shadow. He is terrified to take any risk in a game, and I'm sick of it.
He is an incredibly defensive manager, which is ironic because we are terribly defensive.
Agree4
03 May 2026 20:38:37
ArAy, VVD needs to look at himself, he was lousy today.
Agree8
03 May 2026 21:32:03
Agreed, Rome, he was asleep during their second goal. Both he and Konate have had a season worth forgetting. Maybe things would have been different if they had a classic DM playing in front of them? 😉
Agree1
04 May 2026 07:49:45
Szoboszlai and VVD have used the same excuse all season, we don't know why. We need to play till the end, it keeps happening, etc.
It's not just Slot who spouts nonsense.
VVD is captain, apparently, he really needs to start acting like one.

CARRA THE FIELDS robbed has said he expects slot to go what is your honest thoughts now that's 18 losses and the football is dire. Eds what's your verdicts too regarding slot stays or goes?

{Ed025's Note - i think he means Robbo Baz..

We have been robbed of passion, commitment & pride by piss poor management, all season.
Agree6
03 May 2026 20:16:43
I just don't see how he stays. We look lost on the pitch, no identity like Sturridge said. Sad thing is our identity has been that we are slow, boring and predictable.
If think if this end of season review ends in anything other than Arne leaving we are screwed, not that going to Old Trafford has ever been a given, but that 1st half was embarrassing at best.

I feel privileged to be named :).
This is a little of the mulberry bush and Groundhog Day all combined together.
My honest view is that, without Slot's long-term future being secured here, that would be destabilizing for the club and players heading into the next season. Far too many unknowns that must have an impact on recruitment plans etc.

Anyone else catch Slots after match presser? Is it me or like seeing this angry version? He's fuming at players switching off. That we had enough to win. Went off on one about the inconsistent VAR as well.
03 May 2026 20:07:01
I'll like seeing it even more when he's doing it for another club.

Agree3
03 May 2026 20:49:00
Think what you like of Slot, Grino, and I have very little love for the guy left, but no Liverpool fan should be calling their manager a rat.
Sorry, but that's simply not on.
We are better than that.

Agree4
03 May 2026 21:46:38
He's definitely not a rat, but he is a fraud.
Agree3
03 May 2026 21:53:14
Idk if rat is that unfair on him. The way he talks about our players disgusts me. He said 'a player like Freddy woodman needs all the support he can get from the fans' he said that young Scottish rb we've got isn't good enough in a press conference. He absolutely destroyed quansahs confidence to the extent he said a few weeks ago he's finally enjoying his football again.
There's numerous other comments he's made about Klopp as well. That is a horrible person who blames he's shortcomings on anyone but himself. I haven't liked the guy for months now and if not a rat he's a horrible prick if you ask me. More of a Chelsea manager than a Liverpool one
Agree5
04 May 2026 04:59:16
We're obviously not Wassa.
Yeah, it was good to see / hear some fire from him.
He comes across too protective of the players and the club. A bit of a gee up every now and then is appropriate.

03 May 2026 19:06:43
With all the focus on slot, some of our players have got away with it all season with not much being said about them. That performance from Macca was a disgrace! He's suppose to be one of our senior players, no excuses that he's played out of position or anything like that, so tactics cannot be blamed there.
He's been very poor and he's not the only one!
03 May 2026 20:01:55
Agreed. Would take Harvey over him all day long, if only he was still here.

03 May 2026 20:07:28
Macca's been catching flak all season.
Agree3
03 May 2026 20:09:06
Gravenberch is every bit as bad. Wirtz hasn't played 5 good games. For over 100m I was expecting so much more, and before anyone starts with Slot's tactics, he should be showing an awful lot more than he has done. Frimpong, I cannot fathom why he was signed, and while Isak is a decent player, can he really be relied upon fitness-wise?
Agree4
03 May 2026 20:10:00
With you there, DW2. I said, earlier, I want a change of coach, but very few of our players can hold their head up high. Mac Allister being one of them.
Agree3
03 May 2026 20:32:15
I went to the game today and I thought Macca has one of his better games. Obviously, defensively, he let himself down, but in the middle of the park his distribution was good, I thought.
Agree2
03 May 2026 23:01:02
Macca has suffered through the manager giving Grav a more forward role. Having said that, he hasn't been as good as last season, but besides Dom, who has????
Agree0
04 May 2026 01:33:42
I agree Wirtz hadn't been good enough either, but excuses can be made for him, he's a young lad, just moved to a new country and new team, and he's being played all over the place. He played as a striker and rw today, so I will hold off until this time next season before judging him. Grav has been very poor as well! The tactics are causing him a lot of problems. Here's a question, the manager wants him to get forward, we all know that.
If you're Grav, Macca, or Dom playing in midfield, if you see 2 of your partners high up the pitch, is it not just common sense to stay back a bit and offer some kind of protection? Sirley Slot doesn't want all our midfielders in the opposition box at the same time! It's basic decision making when you're on the pitch.
Agree0
03 May 2026 19:06:40
Can someone please tell me exactly what role Frimpong plays in our team? He's no defender, can't cross, head, or tackle. Zero positional sense, never tracks back and can't pass the ball forward. I really just don't understand why he was bought and how he has improved us as a team. He always seems joking and messing at training and gym work and takes nothing seriously.
Has no mentality of a dedicated, focused winner. Winning or losing are an afterthought for him. I know Jones, Macca and Konate have been all putrid this season, but they don't have a patch on Frimpong in terms of inconsistent, weak and whatever performances. Takes nothing seriously in terms of fitness and attitude and this translates into abysmal performances on the pitch.
03 May 2026 20:09:17
100%. Been saying this for a while, I'd sell him come June if I had the chance, he's just not good enough.

03 May 2026 21:16:07

Interesting from the Sky panel on the result and Slots future. Carragher pinpointed if we go for a technical player in midfield again in the summer he worries for next year. Could tell by his reaction he was fuming. Keane gave some good points on what a midfield needs. Even Neville was in awe of Rio.
03 May 2026 19:24:44
Anyone with a brain cell can see we lack physicality and crave a physical presence in the midfield, Not Wharton, if Slot stays and we get in Wharton, we'll be stuck with layers we can't sell at a price we've paid, it will do well elsewhere and we'll screw ourselves over.
We need a Caicedo type player, not a ball player.
The lack of play from deep isn't due to Trent leaving, it's due to he's playing crap football, it doesn't need 'replacing' Fabinho needs replacing, we got lucky he could pass too, it we need that defensive shield, that ball winner.
Agree1
03 May 2026 19:44:37
Wharton is an Edwards signing, along with the rest.
Agree0
03 May 2026 19:51:26
Sailer Jerry, agree we need a proper dm in midfield, we're crying out for it!
To suggest Trent doesn't improve this team is disingenuous in my opinion. We are clearly missing his ball playing from deep and his progressive passes which help move us up the pitch quicker.
Yes, Trent was below average defensively, but he isn't any worse than Frimpong, or Szob/Jones, when they're playing out there.
Agree2
03 May 2026 18:44:50
The only thing that's going to cheer me up is a Carra/ITK post.
03 May 2026 19:26:05
Slot will go, Wharton links are Bs. We get 2 wingers and a proper DM. Sensei for free. Next season, Wirtz, Isak, Frimpong and Kerkez flourish under Xabi's style.

I have no idea why it wasn’t done 6 months ago. It’s anyone’s guess.
But I really just cannot see how Slot doesn't get sacked.
It is absolutely appalling and even the stats back up how bad it is now. 18 losses this year. Wow!!!!
Another thing I was thinking as well. Slot is literally doing a part time job.
The man is being employed by the club, paid massive money, and is giving players days off, not doing his job to coach them and improve things, effecting club income etc, all so that he can go on holidays back home.
Just the logic of that is disgusting.
There is literally no way the man keeps his job! No chance.
03 May 2026 19:28:11
He gets the sack. There is One ITK here who's got a proven track record and that's Carra. By all accounts, the club's working hard to shut down leaks and half of them here were chatting BS anyway, so the only one worth believing, and doesn't constantly backtrack, is Carra.
If he/she says Slot's going, Slot's going.
Agree2
03 May 2026 19:41:59

03 May 2026 19:58:08
I think the last and final point at which Slot should have probably been sacked was this past international break, if it was going to happen before the end of the season after that horrid first half of the season, it would have been then and we still didn't pull the trigger, so it's probably most logical to ride it out till the end with us needing basically one more win to guarantee CL football.
Once all that becomes a formality, Slot should be sacked or walk immediately. I really wanted it to work out and improve during this season, but we've had very few impressive performances this season, no signs of good passages of play, no rhythm or team chemistry, things have been negative for the majority of the season on and off the pitch. That is not a manager that's in charge of the situation. Klopp had bad seasons, but you always knew the players were playing for him and he had relative control, and the performances and results would then reflect that, we don't have that dynamic anymore.
Some of that is down to the players, but a lot of it stems from the manager. Worst of all, he has not embraced and immersed himself into being the manager of Liverpool and the city. With all that, it's very difficult to not think that the best thing for everyone involved, is to part ways.
My concern at that point would be the replacement and whether or not we have the right set up for them to succeed. Currently we haven't demonstrated constructive decision making at the hierarchy level, so I don't have much confidence in what happens next. There's not a pool of world class managers who have established themselves as certified winners either, so it'll be another risky project manager again that could go either way.
Agree0
03 May 2026 20:16:26
Didn't Carra come out & say last week he's now of the opinion Slot stays in position into next season?
I've not changed my mind either - CL qualification & he keeps his job.
Doesn't matter who we sign in the summer, if Slot is still in charge & is adamant that he won't change his coaching principles, the club is on a dangerous path.

Did everyone see Salah's interview and insight into training and culture within the club, honestly very very worrying. This is a player who has been at his peak for almost a decade and breaking every record possible. When Salah speaks people should listen and take seriously!
Salah: "When I first arrived, it didn't feel like many players were putting in extra work before training. Maybe I'm wrong, but I remember guys like Millie, Adam, and Sadio doing sessions after training. Personally, I wanted more, I wanted to work before, after, all the time. Eventually, others started doing the same, and that's something that genuinely made me happy and proud. I love this club, I've had my best years here, and I just want that mentality to continue."
"I always tell Dom Szoboszlai that even if he wins the Premier League every year, it doesn't take anything away from what I've done. I've played my part. But more than anything, I want these guys to succeed and for the club to keep progressing."
"One of my biggest concerns is maintaining that culture. I've spoken to staff and people at the club about it and when I leave, there still needs to be examples. Players who show up early, go to the gym, and set the tone so others follow."
"If that standard drops, it could become a real problem because it's essential. The bar has to stay high — arriving early, putting in the extra work, taking care of your body. I don't want that to change when I'm gone. Keeping those standards is crucial if the team wants to keep winning."
03 May 2026 19:02:16
In the old days wasn't it said that all medals were put in a bucket and players were told, right, we go again next year. Even Ferguson did it. Slot is a title winner at Feyenoord and now us, so hopefully he's kept it the same.
Agree1
03 May 2026 19:13:28
Well, after today's gash 1st half performance it looks like the standards have dropped. We only got back into the game due to Utd being as crap as us. How far we have fallen since winning the league is catastrophic, & like many of the other posters, I can't believe Slot is still in charge. Can't wait for the season to be over.
Agree2
03 May 2026 19:17:03
Salah was trying to tell us early on when he said the club was trying to get him out behind his back. He is witnessing a decline and yelling it out in plain words we can all understand. Keep in mind that what the club did or tried to do to him (cos they never denied it) would never have happened had Klopp been in charge. That just lets you know the type of F-ries going on at the club that Salah is sounding the alarm about.
For me, it was disgraceful how the club's mouthpieces in the media treated him in those post-outburst hitpieces they did about him, dragging his name in the mud, saying how he had no friends in the dressing room and all that jazz.
Jaime Carragher can take a big, fat L as well, btw.
Standards are dropping, levels are not being met, mediocrity is being rewarded, and if we go down this road with no accountability, look out, if Salah's rant has any shred of truth to it.

Yep, posted about it this morning; the fact that he did it in a farewell-type video is the most concerning part. It was completely off-topic and totally unprovoked. He's definitely leaving because of Slot.
