See Chelsea have sacked another manager. How many is that now in last 5 years?

22 Apr 2026 18:43:25
8, I think.
23 Apr 2026 06:49:21
Do they need to pay off his 6 year contract? Of so the culture of rewarding failure is staggering.
6 years football manager salary for 3 months work and not even doing well. Madness.
{Ed001's Note - no, just a small (in football terms) pay off.}
24 Apr 2026 16:17:53
Yip... Just a small payoff.
His great grandkids might have to work for a living now...
22 Apr 2026 11:26:12

Gakpos not going anywhere with Ekitike out for a year.
22 Apr 2026 13:04:53
Djed Spence??
DJED SPENCE!?!?!?!?
22 Apr 2026 15:14:43
Why does everyone seem to be so intent on selling Baj? He hasn't played in 2 years, no body is going to pay 15mn for him. On the other hand, if he can recover properly, he might actually be a very useful Endo replacement, and someone by virtue of his qualities on the ball, Slot might trust a lot more.
22 Apr 2026 15:51:44
Risser (GK), A.Gray (RB/DM), A.Wharton (CM), L.Camara (DM/CM), Y.Diomande(RW/LW), B.Toure (LW, LWB).
Plus adding some more young players from M.Mane, S.Mayulu, J.Monga, D.Banjaqui, A.Bouaddi and C.Yirenki - subject to cost.
22 Apr 2026 17:17:00
DJED SPENCE!!!
22 Apr 2026 17:24:52
You a fan of FM26 by any chance FPF? ?
22 Apr 2026 19:12:32
Never played it before, Chaningofthegvardiol.
I am simply looking at how many players will be left after this set of directors have shipped out everyone.
Mo, Alisson, Robbo, Macca, Curtis, Chiesa and possibly Gomez leaving while Bradley, Ekitike have long term injuries from a squad is already thin.
22 Apr 2026 19:50:27
DJed Spence? No thanks.
As for Endrick he should not even be in the conversation given how he was actively trying to injure our players a couple of years back for Madrid.
24 Apr 2026 15:42:57
Djed Spence!!!!
22 Apr 2026 03:18:31
There are a lot of articles saying that Slot will remain as Liverpool's Head Coach next season, and if you think about why these reports keep coming out, it could be that Alonso turned down Liverpool or that the negotiations didn't go well.

Two wins and we get Champions League. Don't see others below winning all their games.

22 Apr 2026 11:12:24
I was thinking the same whilst trying to figure out who our most likely challengers for 5th spot would be. As it stands I'm thinking Bournemouth.
To be safe, win our 3 remaining home games and then I believe CL is guaranteed.
It's scarily tight back there. If everybody wins their games in hand Chelsea could drop to 13th (admittedly only if Fulham won 12-0)!
22 Apr 2026 13:17:18
Brighton worry me the most at the moment, they're in great form with 4 wins from 5 and we've already played them twice. With Newcastle, Wolves and Villa coming up I don't see why they can't get 9 points from their next 3. They have United for their final game so add blasphemy to your list of sins.
Bournemouth, similarly, only have one really tough game on paper, their 2nd last against City, but they haven't been in the best of form. I think Fulham, Palace or even Leeds could take points off them.
Brentford have drawn their last 5 and still have to play Utd, City and Us. They haven't a chance.
Chelsea have Rosenior.
22 Apr 2026 18:47:28
Given the number of clubs that CAN reach 61 points - Everton, Bournemouth, Brentford, Sunderland and Brighton - we need 3 wins.
But we should be getting 5 wins and pushing for 3rd/4th.
23 Apr 2026 00:49:54
2 wins and 2 draws will do it, none of them bar Brighton are capable of going on an unbeaten run Zed.
21 Apr 2026 20:02:53
Thanks the fields.
Re Diomande and Barcola, could we possibly get both? We need a LW and RW so surely we won’t just target one right?
Agree3
21 Apr 2026 23:24:02
Both will be very expensive. It will be Diomande and another cheaper option.
22 Apr 2026 07:33:05
Fofana
22 Apr 2026 11:12:57
I'd happily take Diomande and Fofana.
22 Apr 2026 12:45:43
It will be either not both unless Gakpo is shown the door
21 Apr 2026 16:56:25
I know we've got no chance of getting him n he moving abroad at the end of the season but Man City's Bernardo Silva is some player, I'd love him in our team, he ran the game against Arsenal the other day, workhorse as well as being a dirty lil basket, 31 still got a good few years left in him.
{Ed025's Note - hes excellent Strom, but he has a bit of history with Liverpool so i just cant see it mate..
Agree1
21 Apr 2026 17:59:33
You must be forgetting his history with us Strom. A thoroughly dislikable human being
21 Apr 2026 18:41:56
Ed025 n COTG.i know he has history with us, i was just looking at him as a footballer, and that man can play football n has that added extra of wanting to win, he was the always the one who I thought if he played well against us then Citeh would win
{Ed025's Note - yeah Strom its always nice to have a little nark in you side mate, your midfield is a bit too nice..
21 Apr 2026 18:56:45
Brilliant footballer, I've no problem with him disrespecting us turning his back. I loved it when shelvey called fergie for everything when he got sent off. Love your own team fook the rest.
21 Apr 2026 19:36:50
Ed025 we've got a nark, Macallister is a toughie haha
{Ed025's Note - aint he just Strom.. :)
21 Apr 2026 20:09:16
Never in a million years I'd want silva at Liverpool he's a 1st class rat
21 Apr 2026 20:20:41
I'm amazed that any fan of LFC would want one of the ring leaders of that sickening mock song of Sean Cox. He's complete filth of a person.
21 Apr 2026 22:46:15
COTG.I am talking about the footballer not the person.what bit aren't you getting
22 Apr 2026 01:05:43
It's a bit hard to separate the footballer from the person mate, especially when you say that you'd love him to be in our team
22 Apr 2026 15:55:00
Stromsgodset the footballer is the same person i would rather he never comes any where near Liverpool football club
22 Apr 2026 17:52:17
Strom. You've had a mare with this post mate. Why not just bow out instead of defending your position? What he did is f@c king disgusting and should not be involved in any "I wish he could play for our team" convos.
How are you not getting that?
22 Apr 2026 19:54:31
I'm with changingofthegvardiol here. Him and that rat Sterling were two of the ring leaders of that song. Unforgivable that.
22 Apr 2026 23:28:38
Well it was all conjecture anyways.he isn't coming n we don't want him.but he is still a great player,
21 Apr 2026 16:31:59
Would like to see the starting 11 as
GK - Ali
LWB - Kerkez
LCB - VVD
CB - Leoni
RCB - Konate
RWB - Frimpong
CM - Szobo
CM - Gravy
LW - Wirtz
CF - Isak
RW - Diomede
Bench
Bradley
Tsimi
Jacquet
McAllister
Hugo
Rio
The start of next season that's a good squad assuming we get everyone fit etc and bring in Diomede.
Agree1
20 Apr 2026 14:12:44
So, as if this season could not get any worse, Konate is filming material for his long term contract extension. I can't even with this club.
Agree3
20 Apr 2026 15:48:04
Would you rather we lost another saleable asset for nothing and spent £50m on a replacement whilst desperately trying to strengthen other key areas of the team?
He's not been good, but if that is £50m extra towards a Mo replacement then happy days!
20 Apr 2026 16:13:17
I don't really have a problem with Konate and Gakpo re-signing, yes both haven't been great but I don't think anyone has apart from D.S.
We had too many replacements last summer, going straight into the first team. In times long past a new player had to earn his place, rather than go and be no1 straight away.
20 Apr 2026 18:03:40
Gakpo signed last year.
20 Apr 2026 20:57:37
Konate isn't elite but any upgrade would certainly cost us upwards of £60m. 2 young defenders are signed to push both Konate and Virg next season, which can only be a good thing. Much greater priorities this summer, where money will be needed, so it makes sense to renew.
21 Apr 2026 07:08:30
I don't mind it because we need another CB anyways, although I can see the team going into next season with only VVD, Konate, Jacquet and Leoni.
My main issue is wages. We seem to be gifting wages like crazy. Gakpo and Gravenberch were not deserving of the wages they got, so that is my main worry.
21 Apr 2026 13:58:30
Konate signing a new contract with us doesn't bother me in the slightest what does bother me is we stick with slot for another season plus he can take his love child with him
20 Apr 2026 10:57:16
Liverpool have put themselves in a good position regarding UCL qualification. The more recent performances have been miles better with the players seemingly actually playing with intensity and desire (something that has been painfully absent all season).
With UCL qualification a decent possibility, I thought it would be good to turn our eye to the transfer market!
What do we think of the below:
LB: Tsimi, or offload and bring in Raum of Leipzig
CB: Jacquet (Konate to resign)
RB: Anyone who functions
CDM: Workmanlike CDM who is a duel winner
CM: Wharton (I like his progression from deep and he'd be an upgrade on Macca)
RW: Yan Diomande (obvious choice)
Versatile forward who can play across the front line, Bazouma Toure has been linked.
I think the above is a very expensive window (again) however it has been heavily reported that Liverpool will be looking to add 3-4 first team players again in Summer. You could argue Jacquet is already one of those, but a starting RB, RW, CDM are also very much required.
With a bit more depth I genuinely think this Liverpool team could be really good. This season has been p*** poor, so let's finish the season strongly and look forwards rather than backwards.

20 Apr 2026 12:11:36
I know there is never any guarantees, but wouldn't mind someone from the prem who could Potentially hit the ground running.
Bowen as example, little older, and guess would depend on costs.
Gordon has been mentioned a fair bit, do really like Bowen tho, few factors such as age, do West Ham stay up and so on.
20 Apr 2026 12:33:34
I'd expect, only including players who've actually played for the men's team at least in a friendly, we'll see something close to the following (with a fair few going on loan of course). There may be some others who make the jump up from the academy, but these players we know are in the first team picture to some extent already.
Keepers: Ali, Mama, Woodman, Jaros, Pecsi
Right backs: Frimpong, Bradley, Stephenson, Mabaya
Centre backs: Virgil, Ibou, *NEW, Leoni, Gomez, Nallo
Left backs: Kerkez, Tsimikas, Beck, Chambers, Scanlon
Midfielders: Gravenberch, *NEW, Jones, Nyoni, Bajcetic, McConnell
Attackers: Szoboszlai, Wirtz, Morrison, Koumas
Wingers: *NEW, Gakpo, *NEW, Rio
Strikers: Isak, Ekitike, Wright, Danns
This would likely be very expensive. At an educated guess, Minteh, Diomande, Wharton and Jacquet (who all seem like legitimate and plausible signings) would be approximately £250-270m total.
Not many departures are expected to fetch much either. At a guess (all likely to leave permanently), Elliott, Macca, Ramsay, Chiesa, K.Gordon, Endo, Robbo and Salah would be approximately £80-100m.
I find it really difficult to see us signing any full backs. We already have loads for both sides and Gomez, Szoboszlai and Jones can all play LB, RB or both too. Feels like a huge waste of valuable funds that could be better spent on wingers where we really need some fresh impetus, youthful exuberance and actual blistering pace.
My main concerns are that I think we'll keep Slot (as well as Konate) and then sign a ball playing midfielder like Wharton. Personally I'd move on Slot and Konate and sign a ball winning midfielder like Joao Gomes.
20 Apr 2026 14:28:34
We simply have to sign a RB, MK. Frimpong and Bradley cannot be relied on - new coach and medical team or not.
By all means, get creative with someone like Oscar Mingueza on a free if money is the issue.
LB should be fine, as we can either go with Kostas, Beck, or Chambers to deputise for Kerkez.
20 Apr 2026 15:06:51
MK, we've already signed Jacquet.
You're putting a lot of faith in youngsters who most of us know nothing about, and a few of the ones we do know about aren't good enough. I personally think we need another RB and LB, as I have little faith in Bradley, Frimpong and definitely Tsimikas.
20 Apr 2026 16:23:37
That's a bit harsh on Bradley. He has been extremely unlucky with injuries, I would actually think the coaching staff should be replaced, players not fit, players having reoccurring injuries because of fitness levels, I mean, wow, did anyone notice that Isak could do nothing but jog around yesterday like he was in a training session.
4 touches until he was eventually hauled off. If he isnt fit enough to sprint and fight for that ball then he shouldn't be anywhere near the first team, and why, for the love of JC, wasn't a reserve player brought onto the subs bench, even just for the experiance.
20 Apr 2026 16:36:00
Maybe it is harsh, David, but he missed 150 days with 2 different injuries in 23/24, alongside the injuries he's had the last 2 seasons.
Like you say, it is harsh, but how many seasons have we put up with Gomez? I just hope Bradley isn't another one in the making.
20 Apr 2026 17:00:47
You cannot be expecting Ekitike to contribute anything at all next season. If he does anything meaningful next season, it is a bonus.
