Champions League final is going to be an interesting one isn’t it.
Football vs anti-football.

06 May 2026 23:22:59
Arsenal to do the big double. Who would have thought.

Agree1

06 May 2026 23:27:36
Yeah. Pity we are an anti football team too. Hopefully not for much longer.

It was nice to see two teams try to score at every opportunity.

Olise was shocking today though. No aggression or fight at all. I think he is a fine player, but with our current group, it doesn't suit us to have a winger like him.

I've settled on getting Diomande and Toure. International buddies and blistering pace either side.

Iraola will make them pressers and lethal.

Positive thinking.

Kvarshelia is amazing.

Agree14

06 May 2026 23:30:53
Not a chance in hell of Arsenal beating PSG. Not a chance.

It could get embarrassing for them.

Agree11

06 May 2026 23:52:00
Their only chance is a shoot-out.

Agree2

07 May 2026 00:01:21
Or an early sending off, Ron. Anything can happen in a one off game, but, all things being equal, PSG should batter them.

Plus, they have the advantage of pretty much sewing up their league already, so they can prepare just for this game.

Agree6

07 May 2026 00:28:40
I think it is unfair to suggest Arsenal have no chance. They already beat them in the league phase. Their semifinal was also close last year. Obviously, I want PSG to win (since I can't the brand of football Arsenal play), but it could be much closer than people think.

Agree7

07 May 2026 01:37:34
I'd be happy to see PSG wipe the floor with Arsenal. Hopefully Arteta puts his outthinking-himself head on for the final. If Arsenal try not to lose, PSG will hammer them, but, funnily enough, if Arsenal try to win and actually give attacking a go, PSG can defend and will hammer them on the counter attack.

I realise that Bayern and Madrid scored goals against them, but, in Bayern's case, they are a very good attacking side at the moment, and I'd say that even though they scored a fair few by attacking, both Bayern and RM came off second best.

Agree4

07 May 2026 02:17:17
Thekoparmy, league phase means nothing in this competition. It's little more than a formality. Arsenal don't stand a chance; they'll hold out for a while with some hardball, but they won't be able to hold PSG off.

Agree3

07 May 2026 03:09:29
If Arsenal get two free kicks and three corners, they could well do it.

Agree5

07 May 2026 04:33:39
Hopefully PSG win then we can say we lost to the champions (again).
:D.

Agree3

07 May 2026 06:03:22
Chelsea has no chance against PSG in paper in the Club World Cup but they won anyway. Anything is possible in a once off cup game, and Arsenal has a good a chance as any to win.

Agree4

07 May 2026 06:57:11
PSG are not unstoppable. Arsenal very much can and I fear will beat them.

They won't be going toe to toe with them, that's for sure.

Arsenal will defend deep, keep it tight and take their chances from set pieces. Given that the PSG keeper is terrible, that's a pretty good strategy.

Agree3

07 May 2026 07:24:35
Like a boxing match, Arsenal have a punchers chance.

If the game is played as a football game and the ref keeps control, then it should be PSG's match to lose. Arsenal will try and turn it into a battle and street fight.

If it goes that way then Arsenal have every chance.

PSG look like a team that doesn't get phased by any opposition or gamelan, though.

Agree1

07 May 2026 07:34:13
People saying Arsenal have no chance. People said the same about Chelsea in the Club World Cup Final. One-off game, anything can happen. Too much sour grapes on here. They strengthened in the right areas and persisted with their approach. I wish we were fighting for a double instead of being led down the garden path by the three amigos.

Agree5

07 May 2026 08:35:36
Absolutely comical, talking about sour grapes then bringing our own people into it.
Bitter hypocrisy much?

Agree0

07 May 2026 09:09:06
Arsenal have a chance against PSG. Villa n Newcastle gave them a good game this season, we couldn't lay a glove on them because we are dreadful. I wanted Bayern to win last night, but I think Bayern would have beaten Arsenal easily.

Agree0

07 May 2026 09:41:58
Arsenal will beat PSG, final score 3-2, lay your money down.

Agree0

07 May 2026 10:53:52
Nah, ain't buying the whole "Arsenal don't have a chance" thingy. In a final, you always have a chance and even tho, PSG are better than them and play the better football, Arsenal have their qualities as well. And as others have said, never look at this PSG via the lens of the games they had with us. We are a shambles and a half, something Arsenal is not.

Now, what did impress me is how PSG, tho noted for this high octane, high press, fluid football they play, showed in the second half for the first time (for me, at least) that they can get stuck in, hold their shape, stay compact and just sit in and nullify the opponent.

That showed me another side of them that Arsenal are gonna have to deal with, cos if they take the lead, they can stink out the gaff and we all know Arsenal struggle mightily vs low to mid block teams.

Agree0

07 May 2026 12:13:11
If Forest win the Europa as well, we could celebrate losing to both CL and Europa League winners.

Some bragging rights that would be.

Agree3

06 May 2026 22:12:56
Have Arsenal modelled themselves on our culture or what? So f***n annoying.

06 May 2026 22:58:03
No I don't think they have.

Agree4

06 May 2026 23:15:36
They copy us so much. 😂 It's very cringey. Thank god I don't support a team like them, we're blessed to be a great club.

Agree2

07 May 2026 00:10:17
What makes you say that, Ron, I'm listening?

Agree0

07 May 2026 00:15:30
I had this conversation with an Arsenal fan friend of mine. The way they've manufactured a song to sing at the start of games is cringy.

You'll Never Walk Alone was sung organically by the Anfield faithful and adopted as our anthem. It didn't need to be created, the passion was in the crowd, and they took that song and filled it with passion and meaning which pours onto the pitch every time it's sung.

North London Forever (cringy already) was manufactured to create atmosphere. Akin to Leicester with their plastic clappers.

It's quite pathetic really.

Agree3

07 May 2026 08:18:19
Agree with Stock making up a song as an anthem is cringey, the plastic flags and singing allez allez, nothing original.

Agree0

07 May 2026 10:55:07
Stock, or Chelsea with those pathetic plastic flags back in the day.

Agree0

06 May 2026 20:49:26
Hey ed001 I want you opinion on a player I've watched a few times and think is very good and want to see if you agree. Llorente for athletico Madrid?? Is this where you tell me he's dog muck

{Ed001's Note - Marcos? Good player but 31 now.}

07 May 2026 10:56:14
I like Llorente. Plays every game I have watched him play with so much, determination, energy, skill and never stops running. One we could do with right now.

Ed01, were we not looking at him some time ago?

Agree0

{Ed001's Note - yeah, we did look at him a few years ago.}

06 May 2026 20:37:20
Oh my word!!!!

30 mins into the 2nd Semi between PSG & Bayern, and what is the ref doing???

If Chelsea were robbed all those years ago against Barca, what would you call this ref's performance so far?

And people say there is no corruption...

06 May 2026 21:03:23
Blatant pen for handball, as was the handball not given to Nunes, he'd have been sent off 2nd yellow.

Agree2

{Ed001's Note - it wasn't though. The ref just knows the rules better than you.}

06 May 2026 21:13:27
This proves PSG are far more than just an attacking side. Their defensive performance has been outstanding, constant pressure, relentless closing down, strong challenges, and every player fully committed to the hard work. It's no surprise they're favourites to win the UCL given they excel in every aspect of the game better than anyone else.

Agree6

06 May 2026 21:34:42
You don't think that the 2 handballs should be penalised Ed?

Both times, both players had their arms in unnatural positions.

Also, VAR is supposed to intervene in both situations.

The 1st because it was a possible sending off by virtue of a 2nd yellow, and the 2nd handball is clear.to see that the players hand was in an unnatural position.

Agree0

{Ed001's Note - the laws of the game are on the ref's side mate. It doesn't matter what I think it should be.}

06 May 2026 21:45:26
I think you need to apologize to the ref, JLC.

Agree2

06 May 2026 21:47:57
Jlc, a penalty isn't awarded from a clearance from your own teammate, IFAB laws, ref got it spot on. The second one was given by the linesman, not the ref. Only at half time did they show the replay to show it didn't come off the Bayern lads arm.

Agree2

06 May 2026 21:54:55
PSG have not been handed dodgy decisions to get to the final. They have a great manager who knows how to utilise his players with good tactics and coaching.

This nonsense that the ref is corrupt anytime an oil state club gets a decision is tiring. PSG are deserving of going to the final due to being the best team in their side of the draw.

Agree7

06 May 2026 21:56:13
And VAR can only intervene in a straight red card situation, not second yellows leading to reds. You've had a mare here, Jlc.

Agree5

06 May 2026 21:59:56
Great goal by Kane, another outstanding season for him.

Agree3

06 May 2026 22:16:45
I thought the ref was really strong tonight. Not swayed by the crowd and the pressure at all. One of the best refereeing performances I've seen for a long time.

Agree6

07 May 2026 08:17:05
Ok.... I'll admit, I was schooled today.

I still think there is a lot wrong with those 2 scenarios, as the outcomes are just not the right calls in my opinion.

It is what it is... the time will come when those decisions go against us... and we'll all be here bitching and moaning.

Agree0

07 May 2026 10:59:32
JLC, all good, man. I think the ref got both decisions correct. The one on Mendes was an accident.

The other on Neves would never be a pen, based on the current rules, as the ball got fired into him by Zaire-Emery at such a speed that he was never gonna be able to avoid. Dem is the rules, man.

Agree0

06 May 2026 20:20:19
At the risk of stating the obvious, are the club trying to clear out the players who were stalwart of the Klopp era?

Makes no sense to me whatsoever, we should be doing all we can to hold onto those who have experience winning silverware.

06 May 2026 21:06:28
Yes, because all of the stalwarts of the Klopp era are now in their 30's and past their best.

Agree12

07 May 2026 10:59:59
ArnieJ, that's not the only reason.

Agree0

06 May 2026 20:03:04
After watching the Arsenal game last night it got me thinking about the striker position and just a slight doubt in my mind if Ekitike was an opportunist buy that might back fire for us.

Goykeres was exceptional last night, runs his socks off for 90 mins and is a proper handful & he stays fit! His goal return could be better but next season he could well get a hatful.

He’s similar to Sesko - he’s another that gives his all, physically robust & with a season behind him could well get a lot of goals & be a real threat next season?

Ekitike started really well but I’ve always got the impression he’s liable to pick up a lot of niggling injuries & I was of the same belief before he got his Achillies injury - he’s stick thin, doesn’t work particularly hard and not a physical threat like the other two although his goal return is or will be probably very similar?

Would anyone else on here of swapped Seko or Goykeres for Hugo?

06 May 2026 20:36:00
No, never, absolutely not.

Gyokeres has had a good season for an Arsenal in form, but he is very limited as a footballer.

Hugo has come into a team which is struggling.

Agree7

06 May 2026 20:41:13
I personally think that Gyokeres is a yard dog, I'm taking Hugo every day of the week. Gyokeres is an incredibly limited footballer, good if he is in and around the box but hard to get him there because he turns like a Stenaline.

Ken.

Agree6

06 May 2026 20:56:26
Hugo Ekitike's ceiling, if he stays clear of further injuries, is incredibly high.

Can't wait to see him once Slot is gone. He should be gone, at least once Ekitike gets back to it. Then, hopefully, in a higher tempo team, when the focus is on scoring goals instead of winning possession stats, we might see him go to the next level.

Realistically, unfortunately, it might be the back end of next season or even the season after that we see him at his best. Hopefully, Isak can be the main man and get fully fit next season.

Agree6

06 May 2026 23:07:06
We had a player that worked hard, ran his socks off, was quick, physically strong and had much more ability than Gyokeres, but everyone wanted rid of him.

The problem was, just like Gyokeres, he missed too many easy chances.

I thought Gyokeres was really poor last night, but the ref fell for his and Arsenal's antics every time.

It annoys me when players like Gyokeres back into the defender, the defender moves, and they fall over and get a free kick.

Or he backs in and dives forward like he's been shoved, when it was him that initiated the contact.

Call it clever play if you want. I call it cheating.

Agree2

06 May 2026 23:32:11
Agreed. Ekitike before Gyokeres any day of the week.

Agree2

07 May 2026 07:02:15
Gyokeres may be limited, but what he can do, he does very well.

If you play exactly to his strengths, then he will do a great job. He's a bit of an old fashioned target man, no 9 in many ways.

I love Hugo, but there have been some worrying signs about his mentality this year.

Agree0

07 May 2026 11:05:48
@Stock, I agree with you on Darwin (yeah, I'll say his name) and I would take him over Gyokeres too. However, the goals weren't coming and, regardless of his strengths and abilities, which I liked, he couldn't get it done in front of goal. It pains me but that was the reality.

As for Ekitike, he is raw, young, but his talents and skills are just as good. He needs to grow and mature and stop the antics, as Wassa said.

Hopefully, a good manager will be able to harness these qualities.

Gyokeres is very limited and is a bit of a flat track bully, cos whenever he plays vs bigger teams with better defensive setups, the guy can't function cos Arsenal can't move the ball well enuff to service him and, unlike Darwin, he cannot create chances for himself.

That being said, what he does do, he does well, and for Arsenal, that has worked this season.

Agree0

06 May 2026 18:43:07
So more than half the team is again enjoying holidays and will return tomorrow for some tippy tappy training.
Chelsea are so hopeless right now and if we don't win and seal CL next year I think slot should be sacked right after the game.

We can go manager less in last 2 games.

06 May 2026 19:25:52
Slot is like a cat with infinite lives. A loss to Chelsea ain't changing his position before the end of the season.

Agree8

06 May 2026 20:01:26
Is that serious, Cafu?

Agree2

06 May 2026 20:16:01
Please say it's a joke!!!

Agree4

06 May 2026 20:34:14
The dead horse isn't half getting a flogging.

Agree3

06 May 2026 22:12:53
Should have been sacked 10 times already, ain't gonna happen.

Agree0

07 May 2026 11:07:51
Guys, why are we asking is Cafu true in his comment?

Have we not seen this happen dozens of times this season already?

Agree1

06 May 2026 18:42:31
Hypothetically and going off some rumours in terms of ins and outs, where do we finish if we go into next season looking like?

Mamardashvilli
Gray Konate van Dijk Kerkez
Szoboszlai Camara Wharton
Diomande Isak Wirtz

Jaros, Woodman, Bradley, Jacquet, Leoni, Gomez, Tsimikas, Gravenberch, Scott, Jones, Nyoni, Frimpong, Ekitike, Gakpo, Ngumoha

A lot of senior players departing and looks light on goals given Ekitike injury and Isak fitness issues, but some very good, young and versatile players in the door.

It can't remember the last time it was so hard to predict how we'll go into the next season.

06 May 2026 19:40:39
About the same position as this season, Thiago, if we're still going to persist with Konate as a starting CH.

If he stays / signs a new contract, then he's back up & needs to really earn his spot.

Agree2

06 May 2026 19:58:18
I don't think much better, still has issues.

Wirtz should be central, and Gravenberch should start. I know he's not been great this season, but there's still some player in there.

The problem is, I've no idea how to get them all in that's suited to them all unless we change formation.

I'd still have Bradley over Gray, certainly in RB, assuming he comes back from his injury.

Agree0

06 May 2026 20:00:31
Throw Sangarre in midfield too... Keeper needs replacing, he's poor. Wirtz is wasted from left.

Agree0

06 May 2026 20:18:23
I don't think the personnel matters anywhere near as much as adopting a tactical approach that suits the players at our disposal and the league we are in. Play an efficient high press, and on the front foot, with a stable base in midfield, and Konate looks like a world beater, like when we beat Madrid.

Play boring, possession-based, non-creative footy with no midfield base, and we'll get picked off like we have been all season regardless of who's on the team sheet.

Agree0

06 May 2026 20:35:33
@Bristol, Do you really think the way we've been playing this season is down to Konate?

Agree1

06 May 2026 21:09:03
Gray is not a great RB. And might be more expensive than he is worth.

If Geertruida is available for cheap fee, then that looks a good option. I heard 17m touted.

I think bringing Diomande and Toure is attractive to me. A lot of money, but would really get our wings bouncing.

Keep Jones and Allisson. Park goalie for the year if you can. If Alisson must go, Diego Costa looks seems to be raved about by Portugal fans.

Sign Jones to new contract.

We need to get the best priced DM we can. Sangare looks decent to me, but always hard to tell without watching, but I'll go him.

Bring Tsimikas back.

And of course a new manager whose target is to score goals.

Allisson
Geertruida. Leoni Van Dijk. Kerkez
Szoboslai. Sangare. Wirtz
Diomande. Isak. Toure.

Agree4

06 May 2026 23:31:41
Davey, liked the post. All good points made. I've got a piece of advice you could also add to your piece.

It was fitness that would count in the end. So we kept at 100% at all times, and it paid us.
Roger Hunt.

Ngin.

Agree0

06 May 2026 23:53:09
WDW, no, not at all.

I just picked up on the fact that the OP had him in a starting eleven that, in my opinion, he should be nowhere near moving forward.

The shocking form & performances have been a collective from Slot and his staff down to all the players, but Konate has been consistently the worst of the worst.

Agree0

07 May 2026 11:10:38
Agree on many of your points, Davey. Also, thank heavens I'm not the only one who doesn't rate Gray. I was feeling all alone for a moment there, man.

Been using this website daily since about 2010 potentially longer back in the Macca rumour days.
Just got reprimanded at work for having it as my home page on chrome by the higher ups.

Just wanted to say to the community here and the Ed's thank you for all the years I will have to have eyes behind my back when going on here from now on.

Crabby, I'm a union rep. You know where to find me!

Just don't get caught in the first place though yeah ha.

Oh, the mention of Macca.
Imagine if he popped up with a rumour.
Would crash the site. Ha ha.

Best site I visit (since facial recognition was required on others. 😂)

Ken Aguero is still around LFC8. He goes by Ron now. But his lucky underpants in the 13/14 season were legendary. Kept us in the title race for so long, but ultimately couldn't see us past the line.
