99 million offer for Caicedo from Reds.

Delboyplonker

1.) 10 Aug 2023 23:21:32
Brighton : the price is £100M

Liverpool : we’ll offer £99M

Perfect ?.

2.) 10 Aug 2023 23:37:22
Still low balling I see ?.

3.) 11 Aug 2023 00:43:34
Offered a 99, more likely.

4.) 11 Aug 2023 01:09:21
Why stop at 99, why not 99.99?

5.) 11 Aug 2023 01:29:23
Reported up to £110m for Caicedo.

6.) 11 Aug 2023 01:37:47
Medical in the morning.

7.) 11 Aug 2023 01:42:13
love to know what the 1mil add-on will be and whether it's achievable.

8.) 11 Aug 2023 02:11:42
Bid accepted guys i knew Fsg would come good ?.

9.) 11 Aug 2023 02:19:42
Apparently we have agreed 110m deal for him? reported by ornstein.

10.) 11 Aug 2023 06:02:24
Lfc have gone down in my estimation. Bit pathetic, weeks of desperation. Klopp should of kept his mouth shut and we could of had a slight chance at Bellingham.

11.) 11 Aug 2023 06:47:02
Total cost of Bellingham is way above Caicedo. Caicedo is the type of midfielder we absolutely needed. And Bellingham wanted to go to Madrid.

12.) 11 Aug 2023 08:02:27
Why still go on about Bellingham who chose Madrid? Just be happy with the signings we have made.

I assume the boy Lavia has a good support network around him because all this ridiculous and quite frankly embarrassing situation Liverpool have programmed, must be frazzling his mind. Southampton have said what they want, Lavia wants to go but LFC keep offering less. Are they trying to get Lavia to force his way out of a 4 year contract by refusing to play? This ain’t going to happen. It seems they want this boy to absorb all the unnecessary stress to aid their bid.

Delboyplonker

1.) 08 Aug 2023 08:06:35
Is anybody really embarrassed?

2.) 08 Aug 2023 08:25:51
I find that using an assumption to form an assertion is really unhelpful.

Bayern are pursuing Kane (apparently)
Chelsea are pursuing caiceido (apparently)
Real want Mbappe for free (apparently)
We are pursuing Lavia
We could go on. Not saying it’s normal, wrong or whatever. But not sure it needs the over analysis based on very little facts.

3.) 08 Aug 2023 08:44:55
Getting a little embarrassing now! Yes we all like to negotiate however we’ve tried and we’ve been told what they want. The club either need to meet Southamptons valuation or move on. The quicker we can get our targets the better.

4.) 08 Aug 2023 08:51:31
Oh, it looks like Jamie Carragher is embarrassed.
Seriously though, I can't say I'm happy with this transfer window yet.
We need a centre half- preferably to play instead of Konate- and a midfielder that can put a challenge in.
This season should tell us a fair bit about the club and its ambitions and being honest, I'm less optimistic about the front players than other posters. Nunez and Diaz still have a lot to prove, for me.
It should be an interesting season anyway.

5.) 08 Aug 2023 12:17:00
I think you're right Rigby. Hopefully we'll create lots of chances because Darwin needs plenty of attempts to score goals. I have faith he can reduce the attempts missed, but I have reservations about the intelligence of his play. Quick yes, raw yes, decision making not yet matured.
Dias, on the other hand looks like a whirlwind. Before Gakpo signing I thought he could be at better use in the centre of play, but I've every faith he's going to cause defenders nightmares.
This season though feels abit like a year where we might end up frantically trying to outscore our opposition. It's too early to criticise our back line based on pre-season, but it's logical to say we haven't reinforced that area yet compared to a year ago.

6.) 08 Aug 2023 12:23:39
Well that could save our season. Diaz has already been brilliant when fit, but he’ll no doubt be extra determined when he finds out he still needs to prove himself to Rigsby.

7.) 08 Aug 2023 11:02:03
Not embarrassed, bored though of “angry” fans! Seen it before and it is amazing how moods swing. There must be a drug the Dr can prescribe?!

8.) 08 Aug 2023 11:05:59
Cant see us being able to afford anyone remotely near good enough to push konate to the bench. It'll be a squad filler centrehalf arriving to cover Virg if we end up signing one at all.

9.) 08 Aug 2023 11:44:38
That's not like you Rigsby pal. Usually your the optimistic kind. I agree this transfer window hasn't really fixed the problems we had last year. So far we have basically replaced hendo and milner. That's it.

10.) 08 Aug 2023 12:59:33
Darwin will hopefully get himself a few goals against the like of Spartak Chernobyl in the Europa and it should do his confidence the world of good. I think that’s the issue with him rather than ability.

11.) 08 Aug 2023 13:10:54
thomas, if Diaz only had to prove himself to me, then we wouldn't be European royalty and the stewards would have an easy life ?.

12.) 08 Aug 2023 13:17:37
I'm more pessimistic in real life, Magico. I may appear optimistic on here because I don't catastrophise and I don't think we'll be relegated.
Maybe it's an age thing (I'm an old git) but I don't think we are going to spend big money consistently and challenge for the title every season but I'm pleased with what we have achieved under Klopp.

13.) 08 Aug 2023 14:36:24
Stick one of the stewards at centre back. Hopefully leaves us alone then ?.

14.) 08 Aug 2023 22:30:12
Embarrassed because we just won't pay what another team is asking for lol ok. Suppose there's no point in negotiations anymore we will just have a flat fee and it's either paid or not lol that's the transfer windows solved now.

15.) 08 Aug 2023 23:09:18
This is Klopps fault.
He probably tapped up Lavia and now Southampton want the full amount.

There is no other reason that would explain why we keep low balling Southampton and they keep rejecting us. all very unprofessional

Before everyone has a hissy fit. the above is to be read with pure sarcasm and light heartened

Have a great day!

31 Jul 2023 21:18:54
Looks like Lavia is the player every Prem team wants. Man United "supposedly" in for him now as well as Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City (again), Spurs.

Is this just lazy journalism, are all journalists LFC fans and they want him signed. or is he really that good at 19 years of age for all the top six wanting him?

I watched a lot of Prem matches last season but didn't really get much of a look at him.

Delboyplonker

{Ed025's Note - hes a good player Del hence all the interest, only young but bags of potential, but if you want him you will have to stop low balling with your offers because someone else will pay close to what Southampton want mate..

1.) 31 Jul 2023 21:42:58
I have some spare nectar points …… do you think if I offered them, they would do it?

{Ed025's Note - im sure it would help Del, it was green shield stamps in my day mate..

2.) 31 Jul 2023 22:18:03
It’s ok mate…. I’ve a few Gold Bonds left in the back of messy top draw in the dining room, that should do it ???.

3.) 31 Jul 2023 22:26:30
Ed0025 it’s all about negotiating mate. Yes we met the asking price for MacAllister and Szoboszlai and got both done easily enough but we’ve decided to offer below what Saints want and hope that no one else who’s in for him out bids us.

Sounds like the perfect plan.

{Ed025's Note - if only JK, saints will not be messed about and liverpool are losing credibility with them mate, it could end up costing you..

4.) 31 Jul 2023 22:52:19
A very good player with a big future in the game. Has all the raw materials to play no6 for Liverpool FC. He's a good tackler, good ball carrier, press-resistant and comfortable passing with both feet. He will have to improve his aerial ability and at 19, might still have a little bit more to grow.

In terms of development, he's slightly ahead of where Caicedo was at this time last year. He is the logical option given Caicedo and Tchouameni are impossible to buy.

5.) 31 Jul 2023 23:15:53
Pelican. Where's this kid been hiding? For a moment there I thought you were talking about Bellingham. ?.

6.) 31 Jul 2023 23:59:50
What's coming to my mind now is what Macca said the other week about FSG 'they won't get into bidding wars with anyone'. Makes me wonder if this is going to happen.
I was hoping we'd of had this sorted by now but let's be honest, so much goes on in the background, thing's we have no idea about. What will be, will be.
I trust the club to get this one done but it'd of been ideal if he'd of got minutes with the squad during pre season.

7.) 01 Aug 2023 00:38:14
Overrated in my book.
He’s decent but he’s not worth all these ridiculous sums being bandied about.

8.) 01 Aug 2023 01:42:48
To be fair Ron, most of the transfer costs being bandied about, even for other players, are ridiculous.

That being said, Lavia is a great talent albeit a bit raw. He's too good for the Championship though so I would expect to see him move this window, preferably to us.

9.) 01 Aug 2023 07:43:42
So even if we don’t agree with Southampton’s valuation we should pay up anyway?

That makes no sense and if we had people like that running the club I’d be very concerned. We are doing exactly the right thing by negotiating Southampton down and hopefully they will agree to take a sum that we think is value for money.

If not we walk away.

10.) 01 Aug 2023 07:48:58
He can’t be that good - he was only in Citeh’s Academy.

11.) 01 Aug 2023 08:35:35
Seriously I think there is always a ceiling a particular club will pay and it will be based on a number of factors that I am sure the club will have thought about (and hope) .

Entering into bidding wars if there are alternatives can be a dangerous game.

12.) 01 Aug 2023 08:39:17
I’m still disappointed we agreed to pay Southamptons valuation of Vvd and Mane.

We should have walked away.

13.) 01 Aug 2023 09:52:33
What about Lambert JK23? ?.

14.) 01 Aug 2023 08:28:36
Nectar points (and OMG green shield stamps) ???

I remember one Fuel garage at one time offered what they called Premier points.

Apparently the Toffees team coach could be seen filling up there regularly in hope ???.

{Ed025's Note - love it Metro..

15.) 01 Aug 2023 10:25:59
Is £50m a ridiculous fee for a 19 year old in today's market?

16.) 01 Aug 2023 10:27:51
LFC8 ??.

Those were the good old days. Amazing to think how far Klopp has taken us.

17.) 01 Aug 2023 10:38:06
@Rigsby, yes it is - just because the game has thrown financial probity out of the window doesn’t mean we rationalise it. How much and many better uses could £50m be put to?

18.) 01 Aug 2023 11:13:13
Would be silly to lose him to a rival for 5m pounds.

Pay the asking fee and let's get it done.

19.) 01 Aug 2023 11:15:46
Ive still got a load of gratis points somewhere, Ill dig em out and post them to the club?.

20.) 01 Aug 2023 12:20:04
What about Lallana JK23?
And Lovren?

Happy with those fees? Saints are definitely winning deals with LFC.

21.) 01 Aug 2023 13:15:25
Ron I thought Lallana was very good for us in his time and injuries caught up with him.

Lovren for 20 odd mill at the time was a decent fee for a premier league proven international. Whilst he wasn’t amazing for us he still racked up over 130 appearances for the club and we sold him for a fee.

For me major transfer disappointments that come to mind are Naby, Aquilani, Borini, Carroll and Ballotelli. Players we spent money on and brought nothing to the party.

I have hardly seen Lavia play but the fact he’s had a season in the premier league, is highly thought of at international level for Belgium and has caught the eye of the top 6 managers tells me that whilst not guaranteed he will succeed the potential and the tolls for him to succeed must be there.

22.) 01 Aug 2023 18:09:03
JK it’s not about paying the fee. It’s about paying what we think is value for money and only the club know how much that is.

Obviously in the cases of Mane and VVD we thought we were getting value for money so we paid what we paid. If we don’t see value for money in what Saints want for Lavia then we shouldn’t pay it.

Also if anyone thinks we are only negotiating for Lavia and wasting time when we could be looking at other targets then you have no clue how this works. They will be negotiating other targets at the same time in case they can’t get Lavia for a fee they are willing to pay.

You lot make it sound like they are buying a bag of Space Raiders from Tesco. It’s a bit more complicated than that.

On a different note:-
Nice to see my home team Wrexham beating Man U 3-1. albeit Man U's team was a younger outfit.

Gutted that Mullin has a punctured lung from a collision with their goalie.

Delboyplonker

1.) 26 Jul 2023 10:31:22
Nice one! Seems that the Hollywood takeover has some decent substance.

On a separate note, United lost to Wrexham?! They're surely for the drop this season.

2.) 26 Jul 2023 10:45:25
OP, I saw that. I hope he makes a good recovery.

3.) 26 Jul 2023 11:46:09
Looking like he will miss the start of the season which is a massive kick in the teeth for Wrexham, being that he’s their talisman.

Fingers crossed they can cope and get him back asap.

4.) 26 Jul 2023 19:24:36
I wonder if the United fans are in uproar and demanding wholesale changes and signings?

5.) 26 Jul 2023 21:25:17
I’m from Wrexham also but a United fan, it’s was a squad of academy players but nice to see my home town doing well. As OP wish Mullin all the best and it’s not a long one.

I’m quietly confident of at least another midfield signing and if it transpires that Lavia doesn’t come off, then there are plenty of other options.

I’m no football agent nor an owner of a Prem football team, so I don’t know the complexities of players bought and sold. However, surely like any purchase or transaction, an offer is made and is either accepted or declined. If accepted, it’s generally perceived to be a good deal for both parties and the product is moved on. If declined, then the buyer either returns with another offer or decides that the price is too high and removes themselves from the purchase. Just because it’s football, surely the same theory is enforced. Money is money and the price is the price. You are either willing to meet the price or not. There will always be negotiations in any transaction like this due to the amount of money included. I bought a second hand car last year and the seller wanted £5600 and I paid £5000 after a cheeky offer. Only £600 less but both were happy!
