{Ed002's Note - Goodbye Bashir.}

10 Sep 2014 21:18:34
My honest expectations:

1. Borini's time will come. In fact, the time is now.
2. Emre Can will be a mainstay in the side by January
3. Sterling will win YPotY in the BPL
4. Liverpool will win the Premier League title.
5. Lallana will make the team of the season.

Believable5 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - 1 out of 5 - not too bad.}

Number 4 is a given so Ed002 must have someone else in mind for number 3 but I can't see who atm. Coutinho perhaps?

Agree0 Disagree2

3 and 5 would seem the most realistic ones to happen. 1 is highly optimistic, 2 is based on an U21 performance and 4 really fails to consider the superior squad strength of the other teams vying for the title. I hate to say it but it is difficult to look past City and Chelsea - they have experience of combining CL/PL and, let's face it, better squads overall. I think we have a great first team and a lot of exciting young players in the squad, I just don't think winning the title is plausible this season.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - 3.}

Seano.
dont write us off after 3 games fella. have a bit of hope you will enjoy the season more. it ain't over till the large boned person sings ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

You just jinxed it all. Starting wth Emre Can going out injured for 6 weeks. What have you done man?

Agree0 Disagree0

I single-handedly caused the injuries of Sturridge, Can and Allen with my optimism; I apologize to anyone reading this! I should now fret for our premier league life as Mario, Sterling, Markovic, Coutinho and Lallana are such average players we can't possibly contend with Aston Villa and Lundolundolondon bridge is falling down.

The reality is I think our squad is better than when Benitez took us to second, and while I feel City and Chelsea are both better than the United team that won the league that year, they are both prone to inconsistency and we could capitalize on that if we give them a good game at home.

United I think will falter for a few more games yet as they settle, but being in so few competitions could give them a run for 4th place against Arsenal and Tottenham. Way too early to tell.

Losing to City was tough, but our squad is still learning to gel, Mario and Lallana (our marquee signings) had not yet touched the field and it was an away game early in the campaign. We will recover from that, and in fact, I feel we already have.

I like our odds against teams we used to struggle to break down because we have so many options. Borini is one of those, and if he really does buckle down in training, I have no doubt Rodgers will give him the nod. Lambert is also right on the fringes, and capable of lending an extra hand if we need a goal late in a game.

The injury to Allen (and Can) is unfortunate, as I prefer him to Lucas in midfield, but I don't doubt Lucas' ability against Villa.

I don't know, man. I really like what I see from our attack, and if we can stick with the back four we had against Tottenham I think we'll concede far loss goals. I also feel like we'll add something to the mix in January - Valdes, before that.

Agree1 Disagree0

Nah mate not writing us off, we have a great first team, a strong squad, an exciting manager - but we've had many false dawns over the years. I'm a fan who has no recollection of us winning a league title (just turned 30) so for me the urge for us to succeed is even greater - but I've seen us go close a few times now, I'd rather just see how games pan out and take it from there, as you say only been 3 games.

Looking at it neutrally though I would find it difficult to pick us over Chelsea and City - but anything can happen, for now I just want us to get 3 points against Villa.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's better. Hopefully, it goes the right way, I mean it all goes tits up, starting this weekend.

Agree0 Disagree0

Seano.
was only kiddin mate. you are right, my heart rules my head.i have been lucky enough to stand on the kop when we were winning the league, I start every season believing we will win it again and I am convinced we will before gerrard retires, miracles do happen "istanbul".

So has anyone come up with a Mario chant yet? I'm going to the Villa game so maby we'll have one by then. I know the pub was bouncing last week, with loads of people jumping up and down 'Torres esc' just simply singing the Super Mario theme music, not sure if that'll catch on though. Be great to see the kop bounce again soon though

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There were many - the best being based on the Mothers of Invention's "Let's Make The Water Turn Black".}

To the gambler "King" Kenny "Brendan" Rodgers. (Good name too!)

Shoulda know not to sold him
Now they can't hold him
So all his dancin days
Are for the kop

We can count our money
While we're climbing up the table
There'll be time enough for dancin
With sturridge at the kop

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Miltown Red I agree 100%. I've got two big Kennys in my life: King Kenny, and Kenny Rogers. I actually just watched Kenny Rogers perform live last weekend and he did that gambler number of course. I'll be very happy if the Kop would adopt this song for Sturridge.

As If Real and Perez are out with a letter desperate for Rodgers.
Anchelotti is a wonderful manager and I don't think Real would replace him with BR.

Agree1 Disagree4

Rodgers to Real by far!

Sterling a fantastic player but we'll always have more. Ibe, Markovic etc

Rodgers to Real, Rodgers has been the best thing that's happened to our club since the arrival of Shankly.

They say it's all fair in love , war and football but it was totally unfair having Can on the same pitch as those young players last night .

What a performance!

Agree9 Disagree0

Absolutely outrageous performance, it was some of the most effortless brushing aside of opponents i've seen to date, ran the midfield from start to finish. I really hope he starts more games when the cup competitions get going as he has impressed every time he's featured so far.

Agree5 Disagree0

What do I type in to find it? Can't seem to see it there.

Cheers

Agree1 Disagree0

Emre Can, Markovic and Origi all have fantastic potential. Could all be Gems if they apply themselves correctly.

Agree9 Disagree0

Ho I can't find the video on you tube can someone post a link please

Tis you, tis you so please don't shoot it wide

Suarez has gone, down another meadow
Danny gets the ball and just you watch him go
As he'll be here in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, we love you so

What are you opinions on Glen Johnson possibly leaving on a free to Juventus. I personally think that getting him off the wage bill and allowing Flanagan & Manquillo room to compete for the starting berth is the best solution. I am very impressed with the signings that we made this season but am unsure of the potential signing of Victor Valdes as he is not that good at shot stopping and is not a commanding keeper in his own box.

Believable11 Unbelievable0

I'd drive him there

Agree2 Disagree0

Get rid of Johnson ASAP. I am actually beginning to hate him a little, simply for the lack of effort he puts in and how he is limiting the progression of two very talented youngsters.

Personally I quite like Valdes myself, not watched him week-in-week-out but every time i've seen him he's impressed. You don't hold down the number one spot at Barcelona for years without being at least Mignolet's level in my opinion. I know he's on big wages but still think he could provide the experienced competition Mignolet clearly needs.

Agree2 Disagree0

If we are really looking to offload him, just sell him cheaper in january, taking him off the wage bill by january would be better than letting him go on a free.

but then again whod buy him in January knowing they can get him on a free in 6 months time. not really free though with the signing on fee.

Ed, s Can you answer something for me, do clubs like Liverpool, UTD make any money from replica shirt sales.

Alan

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - only a merchant's cut when sold directly through the club's shop.}

10 Sep 2014 12:20:01
So for a shirt sold for €60 in a sports shop how much do the club get?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Nothing.}

Do the manufacturers of the shirts pay for the rights to produce them? Or is that all included in the kit sponsorship deal?

Cheers eds

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The money from shirt sales goes to the manufacturer, the distributor and the retailer, who can make extra adding numbers and names to the shirts. If the club are the retailer (club shop, club website etc.) then they get the retailers cut. The manufacturer (Adidas, Warrior, Nike etc.) pay the club an amount each year which allows them to manufacture and sell the shirts using the correct logos etc.. That is how they justify the money given to the club. So if you walk in to a high street store and buy a Liverpool or Arsenal shirt - nothing goes to the club. There are a few clubs that have negotiated different deals with manufacturers (Real Madrid with Adidas and Barcelona with Nike are the two obvious examples) based upon joint reselling ventures. So the income from shirts is fixed to the £xM or whatever Adidas, Nike etc. pay the club plus a small amount for reselling through the club retail outlets (shop, web).}

I thought I'd ask some of the more knowledgable fans here, how young Sinclair is progressing!

It would be other way around. Borini coming to Waro for an autograph. Lols.

Agree1 Disagree0

The Sandon, he's here all week, available for birthday's christenings barmitzvers.

I think Sean Lock's job's safe lad.

Harry, your due some gardening leave surely? It's been at least a week since you were barred from this site!

Ed's I'm looking to change my sign in name because of the abuse, it makes me so so sad and makes me cry a lot. I have narrowed it down to two.

1) Borini is sh**e and a money obsessed mercenary.

2) Joey Allen is sh**e but it's not his fault he was on the night feed.

Would you have any objection to those Ed's? I will obviously join the spaces to make one long funny sign in name like TheSandon

Agree1 Disagree6

Wind it in Waro lad,

Borini and Allen have never done anything to be given abuse. They are model pros and actually use what's between their ears and listen to managers & coaches.

Why don't you turn this around and blame Rodgers for handing them contracts?

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Sep 2014 13:00:37
Waro

Common mate. chill. No one abuse you here. The reality is they are jelous. ( All smiles )

Agree1 Disagree0

Harry I was using a touch of sarcasm, maybe a little lost in translation.

ForzaRed, Abuse? I've a funny feeling, call it intuition, but I don't think either player will be a visitor to this site so don't fret over 2 multi millionaires feelings being bruised by the naughty man who gets by on 32k a year, a sum that they probably put in there Ferrari's in 6 months. I've a picture in my head of you now in a frilly white shirt sitting on your couch with pictures of these 2 and holding a rose weeping, strap on a set lad and man up!

Agree1 Disagree1

10 Sep 2014 14:00:59
Waro

Both the players have been down the pecking order. Borini never got a chance at Liverpool, Allen on the other hand did had and then was off due injuries.
Both wouldn't be a starter unless any major injuries.
I also expect Borini to move in Jan or Summer. Allen also might be off if he just remain as a bit part time player.
We do have players from the academy to be used as part timers.

But If I was Borini, I would have slapped BR and moved out.

My song for Danny Sturridge to the tune of "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons.
I haven't changed the first verse because it's perfectly relevant as it is. The rest is mine though. I hope you like it.

I raise my flag and don my clothes
It's a revolution I suppose
We're painted red to fit right in. Woh oh!

We brought him in, to lift us up
Now we are fighting for every cup
This is him, the dancing king. Woh oh!

He'll win us cups
If he keeps scoring goals
Enough to make us overflow

Welcome Danny Sturridge

Agree0 Disagree0

Harry,

Not only is your comment derogatory to women by its inference, it actually makes no sense at all as there is no relevance.

If you are going to hack your way through the English language, in a veiled excuse for banter, then at least get the context right.

Here's a short and sweet one with relevance (decide for yourself if its banter or not)

Harry's comments are like the Ebola virus. not wanted, but sadly it would seem, here to stay.

Unless the Ed's think differently.

Noticed people trying to fashion a song for sturridge. My personal opinion is the word dance or dancing should be incorporated. I'm not saying use this but it's just something to get the cogs working. Do a little dance when you score a wonder goal it's Danny Studge hey hey it's Danny Studge. Poor I know but I'm sure you guys can come up with something better. While I'm at it I think we need one for Sterling. Something to keep the vultures at bay (Madrid)
