A nice little stat that went largely unnoticed the other night. Robbo has now overtaken Trent again in terms of assists. Robbo now sits on 59, one more than Trent on 58.

The most assists of any defender and the joint 25th most assists in the premier league history overall.

Not a bad return for an £8 million signing.

Legend in my eyes.

06 Apr 2024 09:31:21
Up there, maybe above. big Sami Hyypia as the best value for money signing the club has made in the history of the PL.

06 Apr 2024 09:56:04
Salah likely better value for money but yes, Robertson has been incredible.

06 Apr 2024 10:21:53
Agree Irish he’s been a great signing.

He’s had to scale his game the last 12 months from a marauding full back to suite the inverted full back role and as one of the leadership group he’s appeared to do it without fuss.

Was good to see him bring energy to the team on Thursday night though.

A great player and one who will certainly be remembered for many years.

06 Apr 2024 11:20:10
Coutinho, given the money we sold him for and the players we bought, that's great value there!

06 Apr 2024 13:03:01
Robbo has been a great servant but think we do need to consider investing in a replacement now.

06 Apr 2024 14:31:34
Definitely not. There's atleast 2 more years in robbo at a high level.

06 Apr 2024 15:29:19
I think we can still get a couple of years out of Robertson. Clearly, he's been injured more often this season and that's a concern. But remember how two years ago he played every single game and most of us were saying how "he's being run into the ground by Klopp"? Maybe the injuries are a consequence of that, and he'll recover form and fitness with playing less this season and a restful summer? The broken collarbone was a freak event and you can't attribute that to aging or slowing down.

06 Apr 2024 15:37:22
Cementing his place in the all time LFC 11 surely.

06 Apr 2024 16:38:55
I think Robbo’s had 2 injuries this season.

First one was dislocated/ broken collar bone which no one is recovering from quickly and kept him out for months and then his other injury was his ankle which he missed 1 league game. I don’t think that qualifies him as now injury prone.

Last season people were saying vvd needed replacing and look how that played out. I reckon Robbo has a few more seasons at the top in him yet.

06 Apr 2024 16:43:58
Best LB since I've been supporting Liverpool since the mid 90s, up there with the best LBs in the premier League era, plays a captain's role on the field, and a fellow Scot to boot! I love robbo, and there's plenty of life in him yet!

06 Apr 2024 16:44:02
I'd agree with aray, I still think there at least 1-2 good seasons left in robbo. If he had missed the games this season due to muscle injuries I'd be of opinion it ain't going to get better at his age so sell but his 2 injuries have been v unlucky impact injuries so I'd have no worries on him at all at least for 1 more season.

Amazing player and don't forget Kevin Stewart going to Hull for a similar (same? ) Amount same time as Robertson arriving.
Even better value for money.

06 Apr 2024 20:31:04
Absolutely Rugby!

It’s been a cursed position for us, ever since Jim Beglin got his leg broken by Gary Stevens in a Merseyside derby.

Riise had cult status, Jose Enrique was decent. Aurelio was class but injury prone. Ziege - what a disappointment he was.
Staunton, Burrows.
My goodness we’ve struggled with this position.

Andy Robertson has been crucial to this teams successes. Definitely a legend.

06 Apr 2024 21:02:31
Staunton was class and ‘we’ … Souness … sold him. We lost his best years as a result.

06 Apr 2024 21:45:42
If there was ever a footballer that was a machine it's Robbo. Old school. What a player he's been. More legs left in the aging dog yet.

06 Apr 2024 23:13:07
Don’t forget Konchesky and Dicks.

07 Apr 2024 08:10:58
Would be an interesting exercise to pick a team of bargain players we have bought to make a team. 4 midfielders that spring to mind immediately - McAlister, Mac Alister, Milner and Endo. I’d add Dudek as a keeper Sami and Robbo at the back and Mo upfront to get the ball rolling.

07 Apr 2024 11:07:47
Matip must be in there WDW.
Although what is better value - a youth player (Quansah) or free (Matip)? Not yet but soon will be of equal contribution.

07 Apr 2024 11:15:07
Robbo is Him. Nothing more to say.

07 Apr 2024 11:15:16
StEtienne
If my memory serves me I believe Staunton was sold to fit in with foreign player rules. As Scottish, Welsh and Irish players were considered foreign back then. I think we could only have 3 foreign players. Apologies if I am incorrect. Not sure who else may have been sold rather than Staunton, as it generally agreed he was a very good defender.

07 Apr 2024 11:37:04
Good call WDW but I suppose it’s difficult to decide what a bargain is depending on the era they were bought.

100% agree Endo has been a bargain but at 18 mill he’s the same price as Mach and 2 mill less than alonso.

We could even argue Rushie is the all time bargain signing. We signed him twice for 3 mill and 400k and sold him once to June for 5 mill.

So he was a signing that earned us 1.5 mill and scored 346 goals and 84 assists. Not bad.
