{Ed001's Note - I have noticed him sleeping even when he is deep, he has had little to no training in defensive positioning though to be fair. Not in the centre anyway, he has always had a lot of freedom to roam and get forward while other players covered the space. I still think he is at his best bursting forward and wouldn't really want to limit him.}

Where do you think he should play then Ed01? I think in games that we will get majority of possession he can play in CM with Lucas (home games really). But tough away games play Lucas & Sissoko/ Spearing CM with Gerrard RM or in the hole. But this is just me thinking in terms of a 4411/ 442 - he could play in a 3 man midfield of him, Lucas & Sissoko/ Spearing/ Meireles.

Stone YNWA. {Ed001's Note - this is the problem, do you limit him to fit into the system or fit the system around him and so limit others? We have played so well without him that I think time has come for him to fit into their system, rather than the other players adapting to suit him. So train him up to revert back to how he was before he was coached - a central midfielder who would burst forward into the box.}

Gerrard is 32 but i think we could save millions by playin him in the holding role for the next 3 to 4 years even at that age he still will be better than any player being linked in this posistion.what do you think eds? {Ed001's Note - he has no defensive awareness at all, he is always having to throw himself into tackles because he was caught sleeping. I would never play him in a defensive role unless he had been given a lot of coaching in the role. So maybe he could be gradually trained up for it over the course of the next season.}

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

Gerrard is 31 born April 1980.

My concern is he energetic enough to play in this fluid passing and moving system? He seems to slow things down for me and tries the odd Hollywood ball?

Any other comments Ed?

Spriggsy {Ed001's Note - I don't think that is a problem, he has just spend years being coached to take it easy and conserve energy to last the full 90min. I am sure he is very capable of playing high energy, quick football, he just has to be coached back to playing like himself again. I think Gerrard is better in a quick moving system, it suits him more than the Rafa-style slower game.}

I agree ed, but i also think he gets caught out because he likes to go forward, if he were told his position was holding midfielder and not to go forward i am sure he could do a good job there. {Ed001's Note - I have noticed him sleeping even when he is deep, he has had little to no training in defensive positioning though to be fair. Liverpool fc will not sign any players over the age of 25 years old. This is so as they can sign on for 5 years and then still have a re-sale value at the age of 30.

12 May 2011 23:11:37
Whats everybody's thoughts on Gary Hooper at Celtic do ya reckon he could step up to EPL standard? He's young and banging them in regular for celtic! There's no real way of knowing without giving someone a shot i know there's plenty tried and failed i.e. Kenny Miller! What ya reckon Ed's? Grelders {Ed001's Note - they call him Celtic's Kris Boyd, in other words a lazy goal hanger. I don't think he would be much use in a pass and move system.}

Just wanted to make a point about football transfers in general. Transferring a player between clubs is a lot like a pregnancy; there are so many ways it can go wrong that it's a wonder they ever happen at all. When you add a player exchange into the deal, the chances of it coming off must drop by around 40%. So, even though we have had good info from reliable ppl (ie macca and others), it doesn't necessarily mean they were wrong if the deals don't come off.
Hope I'm making sense here.
Long live the King!

Downing has not pledged his future but merely intimated that Villa have initiated contract talks this is different from signing a contract. This is a PR excercise from Villa so they won't look like a selling club when both Downing and Young leave! As for Lavezzi being average? The only think that's average is your footballing brain. Lavezzi is keeping Tevez out of the Argentinian team you tool. You do the maths. We have to face facts we are light years away from attracting the likes of Sanchez, Aguero et al we just can't afford the the wages. Aguero would be here tommorow but he will be on 150-200k a week soon and we just can't compete hence the policy of youth. We will be a diluted selling club in essence until we start winning championshops and titles. As for reading regurgitating caughtoffside rumours grow up fella football transfers are hard to keep quiet the media regardless of how you deem them get hold of stories and may turn out to be true. I will not be put off conveying what i hear because im a fan first and formost and share my inside knowledge as i make a supposition that other reds fans wanna hear it

*********************************

Lavezzi was only in the Argentina squad cos Tevez and Higuain were injured. . If he's such an amazing player how come he's only scored 6 goals in 29 games in Serie A this season??? He is a striker after all. . Yea i've done my maths mate, he has more yellow cards (8) than goals. Lets spend £20m+ on him, you're the tool mate. And Downing stated that he wants to stay and commited himself to Villa, its nothing to do with a PR stunt at all, its all over the internet, he's not looking to move. . As for facing facts, Inside knowledge mate, if you had inside knowledge you'd have a clue

12 May 2011 22:31:02
Hey everybody
just two things i heard, the marin rumors were started by a newspaper called bild ( spelling might be wrong , its like the german version of the sun ) so i don't no what to believe it or not
and secondly i heard a reason it took so long ( i don't say i believe it its just an interesting point ) for kenny to sign was an issue with players, he wanted and has full control and last say in transfer, but comolli pleaded with him to sign hes choice , yann mvila insted of kennys choice charlie adam and kenny was stalling about this as he really really rates adam, and it has been resolved that will be sign comollis choice for EVERY other decision will be kennys, as soon as he heard damien wdnt be interfering with any other future transfers he was happy to sign

title next year :)

Eds. Why oh why do the LFC fans not sing 'John Henry was a steel-driving man' at Anfield' - JH would love it too! Its an American Anthem and it kicks ass! The place would be rocking! If anyone knows how to get this info/idea to the die-hards who get these tunes catching on (i think they have phone networks set up), it would be great. The words can be changed if need be, in true LFC style. . . I'm no poet so give it a try folks.

ps. If you don't know the song, its an old one - Bruce Springsteen does a quality version of it with the Seeger Sessions Band at St. Lukes church - check it out on YouTube, listen to it LOUD! (I'm an old rocker though, so I would say that!).

Imagine that at Anfield! It would be some craic! mighty craic indeed! A great thank you for getting Kenny & rescuing the club. I think JH would really appreciate the sentiment, and every time I hear that tune it brightens up my day! Any thoughts? If any of you like the idea and go on any any other forums (traitors!) please suggest the idea there, I know everyone would enjoy it! I'd love to hear it catch on someday!

BJH YNWA {Ed007's Note - I know the song, that would get a ground rocking}

I know a lot of people don't really want ashley young but I don't think he will be that bad a signing.
He's prem proven so no real risks and them last couple of games for England he was starting to look the part.
Is rather see young over navas anyway.

In context too the people saying about players wages being too high so we can not afford them, am I right in saying j Henry said when Fenway took over that he wants to decrease the squad but significantly increase the wage bill? Eds am I right or wrong (great work btw fella's)

Hi Eds

Lets face it the only real thing we do know at the present time is that KK and SC have signed three year deals.

We don't know How much money KK has to spend wisely in the transfer window.

We have seen half the Galaxy linked with us over the last few months.

We will all have to wait with baited breath as to Who, What position and how many players will arrive.Im also certain that all our business will be concluded long before the window closes.To give our new look team time to settle and gel

We are entering a new dawn at LFC one that with the right players could be the start of another special era.

Reason for Kenny signing today it dosent make sense to do it at the end of the season as nothing to gain on field. i think the reason behind it is doing it before the biggest game of our season in the battle for 5th and with the owners being there it will be like at party at Anfield and gives that extra push and belief to beat if not hammer Spurs. As they say it was always going to happen. Great plan.

Transfer rumors. taking into account what they have said about players they have i think there will only be 3 big signings. personally i can see where Mata are coming from. 1. Marguee signing (there has to be 1 big , you all know it) 2. young 3. versitile, can play up front (as i don't think a striker will be bought not for 1st team purposes anyway). 4. potential worldclass, only going to get better and sell on value. other winger - young pretty straight forward. left back - enrique. if you think about it solid left back good going forward not to young and can be ousted by Robinson when he is ready to step up without fuss. Coutinho would be nice but he's 18 and that would like a kick in the face to the youth. other signings DC- jones, not going to be 1st team yet but couple of years when Carragher steps down Kelly and Jones in defence, solid and English. wingers - Marveaux & Payet - depth and squad quality. Mid - Sissiko (same as Jones but with Gerrard) only if they fell neccesary. Striker - personal fell Morgan should be staking a claim to make the step up and with Kuyt and potential Mata might get opportunty. no big name striker.

Mata-£22m
Young-£15m
Enrique-£9m
Jones-£9m
Marveaux-free
Payet-£7m
Sissoko-£12m(possibly)

again just my opions and observations

Congratulaions to King Kenny and Prince Clarky

Now lets stuff the Spuds.

What sort of motor is kenny driving these days?
I propose that the club splashes out to buy a suitable golden royal carriage, complete with cavalry escort, to transport the KING to melwood every morning !
KB {Ed001's Note - last time I saw he was driving a beemer I think, but I agree, that would be absolute class!}

12 May 2011 20:38:29
I've seen a post of here saying we're not looking to sign world class players; has anyone seen (yes I know you all have) Suarez? The guy has been here about 14 week's and looks world class in terms of scoring, free licks and assists. He runs the opposition defense ragged (hence why other players are also scoring); I may have a sneaky bet on him being Player of the Year next year as he looks that's good.

I don't know who we will buy or sell but has KK said today; it doesn't matter as long as we buy well. We need to remember that on top of the current people playing we have Kelly, Agger, Gerrard and Carroll to come back; 4 quality signings this summer (LB, CM? LW & RW) plus with some players on the way out then IMO it's looking good.

We don't look like the team who can be out thought or passed by the likes of Wolves at Home anymore.

To be so depressed when rafa left then Roy and his tactics we are a million miles away from that now; things look positive, the players look positive, we are playing positive. I'm not going to say we're going to win this or that but we're moving in the right direction and we have a lot of youngsters in our squad now (we had 6 players called up for England U19's the other day and 4 for the U17's).

The future's bright the future's Red!

I hope Liverpool don't sell Agger, i think he's one of the best in the league when fit. Hopefully he will come through eventually. Eds, do you know if it will carry on reoccuring or will he be able to be fit for the majority of the season? hes a bit like Van Persie in this game, quality but always injured.

Also to the person that said about Oxlade Chamberlain coming, i have stated numerous times that even if he does come (highly unlikely atm), Southampton want him back on loan for at least a season i have been told.

Also brilliant news about the King and Steve Clarke. Best 2 signings of the summer already appointed, can't help but be optimistic now!

MacIntosh {Ed001's Note - Agger will never be fully fit, he has a back problem similar to Buffon I am told. As it has been described to me, he can play fine but he is always going to risk tweaking things because of the back weakness. It doesn't help that he is a slow healer, so every injury seems to take longer than it should to heal.}

12 MAY 2011- Kenny Dalglish signs 3 year deal as Liverpool manager

Praise be to Fowler. A moment we been long waiting. Well done Mr Dalglish and thank you Messrs Henry, Werner and Ayre. The best news in years.

As I've always said, we LFC folks must always remember how fortunate we are. We have so much to be grateful for.
About 8 months ago we could've gone bust. We wouldn't be here making wishlists about Aguero, Benzema, M'Vila, Hazard, Sissoko etc.

We'd likely be staring at the spectre of relegation, mass exodus of our top players. It really could have all gone tits up. We'd be looking at Shane Long as our marquee signing.
But I don't need to tell you all of that.

Thanks to Sir Martin Broughton, Christian and Ian, we never met administration.
Thanks to John and Tom, we can dream big once again. Thanks to Kenny, we believe in this team once again.

It's been a long, long time since I was this happy, enthusiastic and relaxed about about my club, Liverpool FC, the greatest football club in the world.
All's perfectly set: great owners; fantastic manager; players are happy, fans are united, it's all great, man.

Now what's left to do is:
-tie Pepe down
-seal Marveaux
-do some shrewd business summer
-have a good pre-season and we'll be all set for next season.
Forget the pathetic "3 year plans and top four".
Top 2/ 3 next season and the title back on Merseyside the season after.

You know, I'm no fan of Young, Downing and Cahill, but if Kenny wants them, I'm all for it. Who better than the King himself to know what it takes to make this team tick?
"Kenny's been out of the game for too long. It's not the same anymore." lol.

Form is temporary, class ir permanent. Kenny is class, Kenny is permanent.

Fowler Bless Ye All
Cudroe

Its a while since i posted but after the news today that king kenny and steve clarke have signed for 3 years i feel the need to write again

King Kenny is a legend, will always be a legend and as far as i am concerned this is really the second coming
Steve Clarke is obviously a vry very good coach and his time at chelski has shown he can coach top players and i look forward to him becoming a legend with our great club

and to all those people asking for a knighthood let me tell you it goes against all etiquette to knight a KING , sorry not a king but THE KING

i can't wait for next season or even the closed season to see who we purchase but do we need many new faces i am not so sure, yes we need width and a good centre half to cover but the youngsters that have come in have been brilliant, lucas my player of the season he has re written everything we all said about him to which i apologise and also congratulate him for a terrific season.
luis suarez is the most exciting player i have seen in a red shirt for years, just love to watch his movement, skill, tenacity and effort and will be held up with the great names of our club and become a kop favourite for years - absolutely love the guy

roll on next season, one which offers so much hope and expectation and we havent finished this season yet.5th place from the depths we sank to early in the season is a marvellous achievment and i applaud all the coaching staff and the players but especially the king

There's some good comment knocking around that, in addition to the 'King Kenny effect', the value of the 'sidekick', in this case Steve Clarke, is absolutely paramount to the success that can be achieved. IMO one of the most noticeable turns of event in the reign of Rafa was the loss of Paco, pretty clearly in retrospect the one who turned the ideas into reality. If Clarke can do the same for KK, then we're back with a chance of anything and everything, starting next season. If ordinary players can be inspired to play like heroes, then I for one am looking forward to what our top players could do. Oh, and somebody sort out that Knighthood ffs.

I know I am slightly obsessed (as well as others) with the whole Kun Aguero situation, but who is currently favourites to sign him? I know he signed a new contract in January but surely it's a only a matter time before the leaves Athletico. I just can't help but think KA on the left, big AC down the middle and LS on the right would be the best attacking force in the EPL and dare i say the world!

'He made the people happy

What a great, wonderful, heart warming, life affirming, glorious, magical day. He has been my hero since I was ten years old and he has gone from football superstar to incredible manager - through tragedy and triumph. And now after all these years he returns to where he has always truly belonged -and this time as MK3: a quite brilliant leader, driver of change, energiser, inspiration. I am out tonight and will have a very, very, very nice dram and raise my glass to my hero, LFC's champion, pride of Scotland, King of Liverpool, the legend, the one and only Kenny Dalglish. Thank you Kenny, for making me so happy. Drew.

Hey guys just watched on youtube this Falcao guy, I know youtube isn't the best to judge and I haven't seen one Porto game this season so I don't know his all round play but my God he has scored some absolute crackers this season, maybe the Eds have seen him? Maybe worth taking a punt? He seems really quick around the box, we've got a bigun we've got a trickster what about a quick preditor, just a thought? (Worth checking out on youtube you will see what I mean)

Tobey {Ed001's Note - looks a good player whenever I see him, I have often thought he looked a better player than Hulk to be honest.}

To those who haven't read this yet - Priceless

Date: May 11, 2011

To,

Mr. Kenneth Dalglish,

Manager Liverpool Football Club,

Anfield Road, Liverpool, L4 0TH

Sub: Transfer Request

Dear Sir:

Hope this letter finds you in the best of health. I apologize for not turning up for training today since I was suffering from a really bad mood as I mentioned in the text message I sent you.

I would like to bring your attention to a more pressing issue at hand, or at least my hands it seems. The issue about my involvement in what you call the first team of the Liverpool Football Club.

Sir, every since you and Mr. Steve Clark have come on board, I have had a terrible run on the field. When I was young, I was given to understand that football is a game played by a team of 11 versus another similar set. I m surprised to see that although you re worshipped by all the supporters, stakeholders, players etc of the club, I do not form a part of the 11. May be you have not noticed, but I really do not get to play football! In the past four months or so, the ball hardly comes to me. Ever since you joined, the total goals scored have only been 14 (as against 27 before you did). This statistic would mean that the defense and the goalkeeper have been stronger but my worry is that most of the work is done by the defenders that you pick and have trained.

During the last regime, every midfielder and defender was looking to pass the ball to me. Then I was supposed to hoof the ball at the striker. These days, even the defenders don t pass the ball to me. The young guys have so much confidence that they tackle and dribble and pass the ball away to the midfield, or worse, they themselves make a run in to the opposing half. Even in other teams, there is so much focus on goalkeepers, like Tottenham and Arsenal.

Apart from the obvious desire of touching and kicking the football at football stadiums, there are other personal issues as well. My wife called me up in the half time of the Fulham game and was wondering what I was doing in London as if she was suspecting that I had lied that I would be playing with your team in the game. I understand her worries since the ball hardly came to me and my TV appearance was blink-and-you-miss. She promises that she didn t blink too many times that evening. Even my agent and sponsors are getting worried. They say that I m not getting too much TV time and it s hurting my recognition among the fans and thus reducing the brand value. The momentum that you have cultivated in the team is so high that even after the first goal, the action shifted so quickly that I was hardly on TV. So much so, that I had to kick the ball away and make the referee give me a yellow card just to be on camera for a few seconds. It was helpful in preserving my vanity for the night.

Sir, such has been the performances of the rest of the blokes that even young kids like Flano and Robbo get so much TV time. With all due respect to Maxi, he was hardly on the substitutes bench earlier but now he is always on TV and newspapers. His wife made some really wonderful tacos the other day for him while I had to order pizza. He was taking a dig at me on phone. I was so jealous.

I should thank you for atleast mentioning me the other day about the balls I played that created a goal against Birmingham.

There were times when I was called into great saves. The defenders were lacking confidence, the strikers were nearer my post. I had so much company. There were so many attempts on my goal that I had so much TV time. My wife never doubted me. These days I only get to chat with Carra near the post. As scouse as I am now, there is still time before I start understanding what he says. The other day he said something but I could only understand he said chair somewhere in between. I think he was suggesting that I should bring a chair along with me.

Given the above circumstances, I would like to submit a formal transfer request. I would now like to play more part in the outfield. You ve made Dirk and Maxi into such prolific scorers. Jay and Lucas are never shy of taking a attempt. Raul had a super run under you. For God s sake, even Joe Cole has scored! Please transfer me to the midfield so that I too can play football and can get rid of the above mentioned issues.

Truly,

Jose Manuel Pepe Reina

Congratulations to The King and Steve Clarke.

Appointing a coach who had recently been part of a title winning team was a master stroke for Kenny. I don't recall any of those 'in the know' on this excellent website predicting that appointment.

2011/ 12 Season. .
Experienced Goalkeeping cover is essential.
A full back.
A centre-half.
Attacking width and pace.
Also better luck with injuries.
If we achieve this then 3rd place is well within our grasp and (providing that we do finish 5th this season) will demonstrate solid progression.
7th to 3rd in two years is great work.
If Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and City have similar seasons to this year then maybe we can hope for higher.

Let's get the squatters off our perch!

There s so much stuff on Liverpool s WEB site, interviews, articles, stats, KK appointment has been well planned.
If we d waited till the weekend the story would have been second to the mancs, so at least by doing it today we will get our Big News Day, and the fans can still have a celebration on Sunday well done FSG.

Did anyone hear what a United fan emailed in to SSN about KK getting the job full time?

He said he's glad because now we aren't going to win anything for the next 3 years.

KK won 9 (5 major) trophies in 6 years as Liverpool manager. Plus we are 7/ 1 to win the league next season - same as the Gooners.

Dont understand why people want a.young to come in so badly 15m to much to pay for player in last year of contract and he's a one trick pony comes inside on his right everytime need a natural left footer out left as that's been the main prob area all season plus need someone to supply carroll cos kuyts delivery is not always great so with young cuttin in all the time back to the same prob as this year no natural width i can see mata or andre ayew from o.m as as far better options with maybe(hopefully) clichy payin l.b more cross comin in for carroll to feed off i can't see major investment in another striker as kuyt will be used up there when needed so the long deal is strong possibility don't expect any more than 8m spend on striker these aint facts just what makes sense no

Maxi is class, u lot didn't even notice when we had a bad time wid hodgson, he was the only player trying to score 4 us. who ever says he not good, dnt appreicate nothing and are not a true supporter of liverpool
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I am glad someone finally pointed this out. One of the reasons why we scored next to no goals early on was the lack of players in the box. We would have Tosser up there trying to do it all on his own (!), but whenever Maxi was in the starting 11 he would always be in position in case the former number 9 would be kind enough to pass to another player. It is simple folks, if you are making the runs in the box, you'll score every now and then. Ask Meireles, Kuyt and now Maxi why they have had good goal scoring spells and they'll tell you that it started by making those runs into the box. The only surprise for me is the number of goals he scored recently, but he was always likely to get a few here and there because of his positioning. Check the tapes.

Fluke it? You obviously don't follow the championship. Before christmas they just drew too many games, since then they have been one of the best teams in the league, perhaps only behind Norwich and QPR, including winning 9 straight games. Do your homework before posting rubbish."

ha ha

I do follow the champ and know that after a fantastic run Reading lost momentum with a spineless loss to Sheff Utd and a not entirely
deserved draw against Coventry (according to a good friend and Reading fan who was there). Yes, they beat Derby with an understrength team but Derby were very poor. My friend suggested that the team they put out vs Derby would be the first team if they don't get promoted! So they go into the playoffs (through which they have NEVER qualified despite plenty of attempts) in reasonable shape but not favourites by any means. I think they play nice footie but are a bit flimsy.

But this is a LFC page, so fab news about Kenny and Steve. About time :-)

How can Liverpool be taken seriously when they're not actually looking to sign world class players?

Chelsea have Sign Torres (regardless of what people think he is world Class).

United are currently in talks with David De Gea and Wesley Sneidjer.

City are probably in talks with everyone.

How can Liverpool expect to be taken seriously when you're entering talks with Mid-table players?

Not a cricism just an observation.

Nobody outside the clubs knows who we are talking too So how do you know were only dealing with mid table players?

As for Man U I agree Sneijder is a good player but what has De Gea done?

The point of this page is for everyone to air their rumours of which the vast majority will be false. Wait til Liverpool call the player press conferences before you assume we're entering talks with mid table players

It's been a while since Fowler, McManaman, Carra and Stevie G. came through to youth setup. With the current crop from Kelly, Flan, Robinson down to the new emerging stars, can you think of a better man than King Kenny to put his finishing touch to these young men. The foundations of the next 15 years are sitting at our club with KK and Rodolfo, SC. Liverpool FC will become bigger than ever in the next 3 years. What a great day for us.

I'm intrigued by the return of the Shane Long rumours. He's a nice lad. And this season hasn't just been ab out his goal scoring, he's starting to play some nice football as well, which given his relatively short time in the game reflects his current team's faith in him.

I'm not convinced we'll make a bid. Who knows. I wouldn't be upset if we did. I doubt he'll be at Reading next season, unleSs they fluke it into the prem through the play-offs.

Fenway Sports Group and Liverpool FC today confirmed that Kenny Dalglish has been appointed as Team Manager.

Dalglish, who was initially given the job until the end of the current campaign, has signed a three year deal with the Reds. It was also announced that First Team Coach Steve Clarke has put pen to paper on a three year contract.

Principal Owner John Henry said: "Kenny is a legendary Liverpool figure both as a supremely gifted footballer and successful manager. Since returning in January he has shown extraordinary leadership and the ability to bring the best out of so many people associated with the Club. It was obvious to us very early on that the atmosphere surrounding the Club had been transformed by his presence. No one else could have produced such a response. Therefore, I'm delighted we have agreed to a new contract. We didn't need nor want to look elsewhere for the right man to manage the team.

"Working closely with him, we've seen first-hand his love for the Club and his determination to do whatever is necessary to produce a winning side again. He has a unique relationship with our supporters and embodies everything that is special about the Liverpool way of doing things. Liverpool enjoys a global standing within the sport, but having Kenny in the dug-out will help us in our efforts to bring the best available talent to the Club as we continue to move the club forward.

"I'm also pleased we have reached an agreement with Steve Clarke, as his contribution to Kenny's backroom team has been significant over the past four months."

Chairman Tom Werner commented: "It was extremely important that we enjoyed a period of stability after some difficult times and Kenny has done a tremendous job over the last three months in bringing the whole Club back together. It's clear how much the players have responded to his leadership, his man management skills and knowledge of the game and that sense of optimism now runs throughout the Club. We have a clear vision of the way a Liverpool team should play and the way the Club should be run and Kenny's inspirational effect on the senior squad and his keenness to involve and feature the younger players from our Academy set-up sits perfectly with that way of thinking."

John Henry added: "This has been an exciting time in the history of the Club. The appointments of Ian Ayre and Damien Comolli and now Kenny represent a significant strengthening of our senior management team going forward. We face a huge challenge to take Liverpool back to the level its fans deserve and in an increasingly competitive environment, but I'm confident we now have the right people in place to do that."

Managing Director Ian Ayre said: "This is great news and it was an easy decision to make in the sense that there was never anybody else in the running. Over the last few months everybody has had a great opportunity to work together; the owners, Kenny, Damien and myself and it's there to be seen what Kenny and Steve Clarke have achieved together.

"I'm not surprised by what Kenny has achieved since he returned to the Club. It's an amazing achievement for him to have got us where we are but somebody who I respect a lot in football said to me once if you are going to pick a manager then pick a winner and that's what Kenny is. For a long time we have needed people here who really understand what this Club is, what it means to our fans and what makes it different to other clubs. Kenny knows that inside out and I think that's a key quality. He understands what matters at Liverpool and what needs to be done here."

Kenny Dalglish said: "I said when I took the job on in January that I was just happy to help the Club out for the remainder of the season. Now the owners have decided in their wisdom that they want me to stay a little longer and it's fantastic news for both myself and Steve Clarke that we have signed these contracts. Both John and Tom have taken their time to assess what was best for the football club and bring in the people they wanted to take the Club forward. They are both winners, but understand what the supporters want from a Liverpool side and the way that we should go about things. This is a unique football Club and I'm delighted to have the opportunity to help build something special here again.

"I want to salute the efforts of all the players as they have been fantastic and thank everyone at the Club for the welcome they have given me since I returned in January.

"I also want to pay tribute to Steve Clarke's input since we started working together as he has brought great experience and knowledge to the role. The players enjoy the training sessions, understand their relevance to our actual football games and have responded brilliantly."

City can't buy everyone! Kenny and Clarke have shown that they can get 11 players to play as a team - as Utd. have shown this year, that's more important that the next star buy! We'll get the quality we need for next year, but more importantly, we'll have the team we need - I'm sure.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I think players will eventually stop automatically jumping to city as places become more competetive. Young players will start to look at teams where they will get a fair crack at first team football especially with KK seeming to be giveing the youth at his disposal allot of playing time. Dont get me wrong City will still attract allot of players but i think it will slow down.

Sorry to point out lads, But Liverpools 05 winning side had 5 top class players

1- Gerrard
2- Carragher
3- Alonso
4- Hyypia
5- Hamamn

Plus Finnan was a quality right back, Riise was a good left sided player. We had a better team of 11 than people think, Hence why we did so well with that team.

My friend works at the LFC shop at Anfield and was talking to some of the staff that work around the stadium. He said the owners are due to fly in for the match on Sunday as it is the last home game of the season and more importantly they will appoint Dalglish as manager. He has also been told that there will be a VIP guest, a player or an agent, he wasn't told which. Need to keep a look out on Sunday at the guys in suits to see who it might be.

My friend works at the deli counter at my local shop - just got a phone call; No Jam-bons! Watta dose! !

City can't buy everyone! Kenny and Clarke have shown that they can get 11 players to play as a team - as Utd. have shown this year, that's more important that the next star buy! We'll get the quality we need for next year, but more importantly, we'll have the team we need - I'm sure.

12 May 2011 13:00:24
Well said ed, take the 16mill for aqua and we could buy 2 good midfielders. Would also like James Mcarthy from Wigan he's gonna be a top player. What you think? {Ed001's Note - I like him and Ed007 has been banging on about how great he is going to be since I have known him. I think he has a lot of potential and could be a star with the right guidance.}

i'd personally wait till the end of the season to see who kenny will mover for . . he Won't put pen to paper till after the aston villa game so the players aren't playing with pressure YNWA

You have to have some respect for Manchester United though. . they have been competitive in every championship for the past 20 years, and won 12 of them. Really is an incredible achievement. . . and with 2 decades of huge success. . .they HAVE STILL ONLY JUST CAUGHT US UP!

12 May 2011 12:50:09
It's fantastic ed how everybody's source has told them that Kenny will be appointed on sunday i bet they all have the same source (any daily paper) please guys no more lies

12 May 2011 12:24:35
I would like to see Aqua back tbh. i think hes would boast our squad. although if he don't want to be here then fine he can go. but surely having Aqua back instead of paying Blackpool 8-10mil for Adam is a no brainier. thoughts ed? {Ed001's Note - or sell Aqualani, not buying Adam and spending that money on Sissoko, M'Vila or Matuidi? Neither Aqualani nor Adam are good enough in my opinion.}

12 May 2011 12:21:12
I think some common sense is needed to be honest. Yes a lot of the players at liverpool at the moment are average but with the right management they can certainly do a job for the team and club.

All of the past league winners had fantastic squads.

Look at Park Ji Sung at scum. He isn t world class put he does his fair share and works very hard for the team. People like maxi and spearing are never going to be world class but will always be committed and over a 50 (minimum nowadays for a successful club) match season will definitely be useful.

To make our team a winning one though we definitely need to look at adding a few world class and game changing players.

If I could add four players to the squad they would be young, Mata, hulk and Cahill.

Our defence is not as bad as everyone suggests and central midfield options certainly isn t poor either.

This summer is all about adding quality not quantity.

If you look at this possible squad I definitely think it is good enough to win the premiership with Kenny in charge:

GK: Reina, Gul csi, Hansen

RB: Kelly, Flanagan, Johnson
CB: Skrtel, Carragher, Cahill, Agger
LB: Robinson, Wilson,

RM/AM: Mata, Kuyt
CM: Gerrard, Lucas, Meireles, Spearing, Shelvey,
LM/AM: Young, Maxi

FW: Carroll, Suarez, Hulk

This gives us a squad of 23. The obvious 1st team players who aren't there could either be retained or let go. That is a decision which Kenny and Comolli will make.

You have then got academy players such as Coady, Wisdom, Irwin, Steerling who should be included in some squads and even given a chance if Kenny thinks they are ready.

Regarding Marveux who is supposedly nailed on to join. I haven't seen him play and don't know too much about him to be honest if Comolli and Kenny think he is good enough that is good enough for me.

Nobody remembers second place so it is about time we went all out for top spot.

It's those folks who keep replying to him that irritate me more than the unsigned Manc cretin who keeps trolling here.
What's your problem? Can't you see that he's just winding you up, huh?

Goodness me! Are we that predictabe
He's not bantering, he's WINDING YOU UP, and you're all falling for it. Ignore him, stop biting and the tit will eventually bugger off whence he came.
Do you know how sickening it is having to see such drivel every 2 seconds I scroll down?
Come on, folks. We bigger than that.
Ignore the prick and he'll fizzle out.

Anyway, ed, what's the latest on Moussa and Yann?
Matuidi seems to be coming into the picture suddenly. Are we talking to him?
Also, have you been able to gather how and to what extent the lack of CL football has impacted on the deals we've been working on?
Lastly, have you managed to find out the Prem club that's been pursuing Dzagoev?

Fowler Bless Ye All
Cudroe
Ps: An aside. Ed, I'm hearing that should Hazard leave Lille, he'll likely move to Spain. There's only a very slim chance of a move to 'em Gooners, which baffles me. The kid's said he wants 'em Gooners, e'm Gooners want the kid. So what's the problem?
It's not like the Turan-Liverpool situation where player wants club but club ain't interested. {Ed001's Note - there is not a lot of change at all in anything right now, talks are ongoing with Moussa, still an interest in Yann but no move made. Matuidi has always been a potential target, DC likes him a lot, but Moussa is the first choice central midfield playmaker. I haven't been able to find out who is after Dzagoev yet, I just get the English Premier League club line off everyone I ask. As for Hazard, it is simple, Arsenal simply aren't sorted out yet, the new management structure is not in place and so doing any kind of deals remains difficult for them. This is why they have missed out on all their targets the last few years.}

Great news for all Reds fans
Various news sites are reporting that Stewart Downing has committed his future to Villa. Too inconsistent and definitely not good enough to command a regular first team place at Anfield.

Also seems that Aquilani's agent has come out and asked us to drop the price agreed for his signature so he can secure a move to those Italian cheapskates. Well they can bloody well get stuffed because if they want him they should pay in full what they have agreed.

King Kenny to reign once more at Anfield and take LFC back to where we belong

Hi all
i have a question for all readers of the site and the edds
what is the chance of the king being given the mananger of the year award for this season as there is no one who has done more for there club
i also have a good feeling that for the first time in ages we could get the player and manager of the mth from the premier leauge as the king and luis have had a great time of late what are your thoughts {Ed001's Note - no idea, but I wouldn't have thought he had a chance, he is just not media friendly enough.}

12 May 2011 11:10:46
I see the web has various 'in the knows' linking us with Scott Parker. He'd be a good addition, but I don't believe he fits into FSG's ideas for the clubs future. What do you reckon, eds?

What Kenny does over the length of his contract with the team, is irrelevent his main brief is to settle the team into a trophy competative side, while preparing the next manager of the club, Liverpool are going to return to the recruit from within approach, that served them well for so long.

Sauraez will be snapped up by a bigger club once he has had a few good seasons. Remember Mascharano, Torres, Alonso, Owen. They all wanted to leave. He can come to united.

12 May 2011 09:50:39
I am beginning to think that this Mata rumour may turn out to be true. Benitez was certainly tracking him, and during this period Kenny was still involved as an ambassador for the club. Also, I reckon the owners and Kenny persuaded Reina to stay because of the summer activity, perhaps including a mention of his spanish team mate Mata. He'd be a fantastic addition to the team.

Doesn't Suarez remind you of a young Kenny Dalglish. . what you think ed. ? {Ed002's Note - I am sorry but I have no memory of Dalglish when he was young. I was still liveing in America in the late sixties and seventies. I am guessing that the other Ed's are too young to remember him then either.}

Regarding all this "I STILL DONT LIKE MAXI. NOT GOOD FOR LFC. .GOALS. .JUST LUCK. .

shut up . . he is playing well."

Its a fair point when, bar the teenagers and Carra, as the same things have been said pretty much everyone's who fit and playing in the starting XI, and even Carra's had his detractors. At what point do you put aside the form many of them showed under Woy and even under Rafa. All players suffer dips in form, but if the same management and coaching team remain in situ, who's to say that these players can't retain their form for muchj of next season? Add a b it of talent and more competition for places, and surely that's a great mix. Maxi's only had a few starts under KK and he's taken his chance. I think he'll stay on for a bit but the real doubts are those who aren't getting pitch time. Given that Mereiles is keeping at least two other left sided players on the bench whilst he plays out of position has to be significant. Bad news for ;ova and maybe for cole, although both have fitness issues I believe. And as for johnson moving to LB next season - maybe, b ut why then is he playing at) and that other) Flanno playing at LB.

Did you mean not having a song? If so then do a bit more research mate or get yourself down to Anfield as Dirk does have a song. Only problem is it isn't a very good song, but then Kuyt isn't the easiest name to link into a song lol

It's great the banter from the United fans is happening. It can only mean they're scared of what will happen at Liverpool next season, they have a 19h title and a lesson I mean Champions League Final coming up and they still want to make sure to tell us what they think of our club - they know how good Kenny is and he don't care about red nose and won't be sucked in like Rafa was with his facts rant!

Hi Ed. We can win d a title nxt season. Wht happends 2 scum if they don't free up their debt. Dont think they got cash 2 spnend this transfer window. Thats gr8. All interest payments on existing debt is excluded from the Financial Fair Play regulations so it makes no difference at all.}

Ed, is there any chance of Liverpool signing Coutinho? How much do you think Inter will want for him? {Ed001's Note - they are looking to loan him out, they don't want to sell him, it would take a big offer to convince them otherwise. Probably 30m+, it is unlikely to happen.}
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
30m+ that's never going to happen. Its a real shame but you never know. Kenny could create the next generation:
Reina
Flano - - Kelly/ Jones - - Coady - - Robinson
Suso - - Sissoko
Sterling - - Coutinho - - Hazard
Morgan
Hazard and Coutinho are unlikely but it would be great if it does happen.

Eds - in your opinion, do you think we will be up there challenging for CL places, given the money that Citeh has; Chavs & Gooners both looking to buy at least half a dozen new players, and Scum fighting to defend their title etc? I really like him too Stu mate. He's got a great left peg and would be able to handle the physical aspects of the PL. He seems to put himself about for such a small man. I don't know about now mate but i'm pretty sure that Rafa had him looked at a few years ago but was quoted to high a price. Or Sevilla didn't want to sell him yet, but we were defo interested mate.

Ed, what about Pablo Zabaleta for the DL position? OK he prefers RD but he is still very confident at LD. He is also allot better than the guy at newcastle and Clichy. {Ed001's Note - he is not as good as Johnson at LB though so why bother buying him?}

Hello eds. I have a question. Who is MACCA? I see his posts from time to time, he seems to be held as a reliable source of info by lots of people here. Just wondering why? Does he have good info -how seriously can I take the 'scoops'?

I'm always interested to see what he has to say, but I'd like to know more - is his info good? Is he really Steve McManaman? - if he is - please tell him I love him!
