Well what a game today, again every player from front to back putting a shift in. One of the ed's said awhile ago regarding signing Benzema that a striker should be the first line of defense, all of our front line has proved that point during the last few games.

Also what are they feeding Flanagan i remember seeing Skrtel clash heads with Carra and come worse off, but this young lad knocks him out cold, no wonder no wingers really go at him they must be terrified lol. Great to see the arsenal fans clap our capitan off i was worried for a moment of two but he was there at the end celebrating with the players.

bring on Birmingham

always a red {Ed001's Note - to be fair he didn't have to worry about ruining his good looks bless him! I would like to say that Dalglish dealt with him magnificently afterward, he pulled him over and had a word in his ear and got his head back in the game when you could see he was looking lost.}

New book by Brian Reade about guess who. Extract in the mirror with quotes from Gerrard and Carra looks a good read

I think the reason he has been poor is because of the world cup. He had a very eventful world cup. {Ed001's Note - he admitted recently to wanting to leave in the summer, I just don't think his head has been at United all season. Madrid seem his likely destination, Marcelo can play left wing as well and it provides cover.}

I guess if they did get Evra that he'll be left back, Di Maria left wing and Marcelo as cover.

I don't see him leaving IMHO. {Ed001's Note - I would have said the same but for all the United fans on the United site, there is a growing feeling amongst them that he is on his way.}

Ed i am a realist but surely lfc can compete for better players than charlie adam such as yann mvilla or steven defour do you agree ed plz reply ed let me know your thoughts {Ed001's Note - but surely the point is that Kenny will pick the players he thinks are best for the club? If that happens to be Adam then it will be Adam we aim for. I have yet to see anything about Defour to suggest he would be any better than Adam.}

Wilson palascios to be bought cheaply (5mil) after he is out of favour at spurs with the bright new prospect, sandro being used to replace him. Kk thinks he could offer stability to the side and much needed cover for the back four.

And Ferdinand used his Twitter page to renew his fury yesterday, raging: If you score a goal and give a bit to opposing fans I kind of accept that, but at the final whistle go to your own fans and enjoy it, not opposing fans.

How bloody hypocritical of Ferdinand did he go after Neville when he celebrated victory at the liverpool fans shame on you Rio you are a bad loser

Ed today both flannagan and robinson were brilliant, just didn't realise how quick robinson was untill he was in a foot race with walcott and still got to the tackle. i know he is young but if he good enogh he surely old enough? i do believe we need a lb but not the most important area we need to concentrate on. we should get a dm, 3wingers, mc, str

I was not convinced by him and he only got his chance last season because options were limited amongst youngsters and Rafa wanted to prove a point about the youngsters. But since then he has grown immensely and is definitely in with a chance of being the long term answer at left back.}

{Ed001's Note - players often sign new deals on the promise they will be allowed to leave ie Ronaldo.}

Do you think Evra will leave United this summer then? If so where would he go. Not many big teams need a left back.

I think the reason he has been poor is because of the world cup. He had a very eventful world cup. {Ed001's Note - he admitted recently to wanting to leave in the summer, I just don't think his head has been at United all season. Hi eds, i just wanted to ask that you don't accept posts when the poster uses the word "yid". a poster a couple days ago used it to describe spurs fans and used it derogatorily and i was mildly offended. as a jewish liverpool supporter, i view using the word the same as someone using p*ki or n***er.

cheers guys (could you put this on the banter page too? it would be interesting to see if people agree)

JSR5 - YNWA {Ed001's Note - I can understand if it is used in a derogatory way to describe a Jew, it is Spurs fans that call themselves Yids in my experience. I have to admit it is not a term I would ever use myself.}

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Living in North London my experience is that some/ many Spurs fans openly refer to themselves as 'Yids'. My girlfriend is Jewish & she doesn't give a carp. It's about the context, the same way black hip hop folk can refer to themselves as N*****s in music. . it's about the context!

{Ed001's Note - that depends on whether they feel Evra is playing so poorly because he wants to leave or not. They pretty much have the keeper sorted apparently, so that only leaves midfield and left wing.}

If he didn't want to be there why would he sign a new contract. They are supposed to get De Gea for around 20 million I believe. They need a central midfielder for sure, Rodwell I would guess for around 20 million. Before you know it they've spent 40 million and they aren't oil sheiks. Sure there a cash rich club but have heavy debts and high interest payments.

I could see this deal going through IMO. Depends how quickly we act. {Ed001's Note - players often sign new deals on the promise they will be allowed to leave ie Ronaldo.}

Lpool Ed / s,
Forgive me for asking as I might have missed this in the last few days.
I was very happy to sign the Kenny petition but what are you doing with all the names - send them to no.10 or what ?
Ta mate.
KB {Ed001's Note - going to send them to the guy, whose name has completely escaped me, that used to be Lord Mayor of Liverpool, who brought it up at the Hillsborough Memorial Service. He is the one tabling the motion to get him the knighthood.}

Ed, Is meireles in need of a rest or something?

I thought he looked like he was running on empty today.

Thanks

You rate Coentrao Ed? {Ed001's Note - United need a left winger, they have no real replacement for Giggs ready to go, there is also talk that Evra will be allowed to leave in the summer. I rate him as a winger, but not like Bale, Bale is overrated, he had two good games and now he is some kind of genius.}

Yes he's overrated but you still have to admit Bale's a quality player who can massively improve. I used Bale as an example because he played as full back who has moved to the wing and has payed well.

United should be looking for a long term replacement for Giggs but haven't they got higher things on their mind? Such as a goalkeeper and a central midfielder. Also Giggs has signed a new contract so they could get a replacement in next year.

I remember Coentrao speaking highly of Liverpool so I hope a deal could happen. I rate him very highly and can only get better. {Ed001's Note - that depends on whether they feel Evra is playing so poorly because he wants to leave or not. They pretty much have the keeper sorted apparently, so that only leaves midfield and left wing.}

Not a bad weekend. With manutd losing, kahn winning, hamilton winning. Shame we couldnt get a win. But ill settle for a draw. I should of bet On it ending 1:1. I think that's the same scoreline for the last 5th or 6th match in a row against them now.

Being an Arsenal fan, I would like to apologise for the way Arsene Wenger acted by not shaking KK's hand. That is not acceptable for the vast majority of sporting AFC fans, and I personally feel totally embarrassed by his child-like antics. Like the result or not, the game is the most important thing. Good luck for the rest of the season. Catch those spurs !

Very well said mate, thanks and good luck to you on behalf of us Reds in the title race!

17 Apr 2011 22:47:51
Hey ed001 mate do you think there is a chance for coentrao so based on what you've heard? have you heard anything about Nuri Sahin

Fowler Is God {Ed001's Note - I think there is a chance, though it will not be easy to persuade him as there is interest from Real Madrid and United, amongst others. I haven't heard anything regarding Sahin, I very much doubt Dortmund will let any of their stars go, they are looking to buy not sell.}

Do United or Madrid need him? Evra have just signed a new contract and Marcelo has come on leaps and bounds this year. If he did arrive I would want him at left wing. Defensively is average but offensive he's amazing. Could be like Bale when moved to the wing.

You rate Coentrao Ed? {Ed001's Note - United need a left winger, they have no real replacement for Giggs ready to go, there is also talk that Evra will be allowed to leave in the summer. I rate him as a winger, but not like Bale, Bale is overrated, he had two good games and now he is some kind of genius.}

Bel-Lucas

unbel-Spearing

I'd defo go for Lucas myself, only posted this seeing lucas and spearing being paired in the midfield, don't really think that can work, Lucas very talented should play more in the hole i think would work well there, as a long-term Gerrard replacement? What do you think about this ed? Should spearing be sold/ loaned? cheers, fantastic site btw!

17 Apr 2011 22:37:11
Really excited with our future, supportive owners, club legend manager & our youngsters coming through. A future team could include stevie, carra, spearing, flannagan & Robinson (4 today)

Don't usually do think but Ed's can u rate out of 10 following players gettin prem starts next season - wisdom, sterling, coady, Morgan, Ayala? {Ed001's Note - I am not sure I can, it will depends on far too many things.}

17 Apr 2011 22:35:02
I gained a lot off respect to the Arsenal fans today when they applauded for carra when injured :)

17 Apr 2011 22:35:16
Unbelievable game today! Unsung hero for me - Skrtel. Since Kenny has been back his performances have improved considerably. Today he was phenomenal from start to finish, even when Carra was gone he was calm and decisive. His game also helped the young guys who also put in a great shift. For me, Skrtel and Lucas were our best two today!

RE "Todays Game"

Robinson and Flanagen seemed solid defensivly, however Flanagen needs to gain more confidence in himself but that will come in time, both played well

Lucas and Spearing both played well but im not sure they can play together. There basically the same player (run around tackle and pass) but needs must.

I now trust Kuyt over Gerrard in Penalty situations, don't think hes ever missed. ED have you ever seen him miss???

Draw. I think a draw is a good result against a strong Arsenal team when you look at the injuries suffered before and during the game.

I also think that we can catch Spurs but i depends on if we and Arsenal beat them. Its theres to lose. -Mc {Ed001's Note - I can't remember seeing Kuyt miss, he seems to be an excellent taker.}

Dirk Kuyt fast-tracking a route to LFC legend

To a certain extent yes. He won't be a Dalglish/ Hansen type legend, maybe more of a Didi Harman type legend.

17 Apr 2011 22:22:35
Was fantastic to have four home-grown players in our side today with Carra, Flanagan and Spearing in the side, with Robinson coming on later in the piece. Even better was the level of performance showed by Flanagan and Robinson, who were not phased by the situation and acquited themselves tremendously. Robinson nullified Walcott, and Flanagan dealt with Nasri and Arshavin. Credit to Flanagan who could have crumbled after his collision with Carra, but he carried on and did not let it affect him.

Hamburg have stated that if Liverpool come in with a realistic offer for Elia, then he's our man. It's been reported they are looking for around £13m. I think he would be a perfect and one of the cheapest prices we are going to find for someone with that pace and quality on the wings. I hope the deal goes through! Any thoughts ED? {Ed001's Note - we did bid for him in January, it is likely we will try and complete a move for him in the summer.}

So how many wingers do you expect Ed? {Ed001's Note - I expect 2 at least to sign, more likely 3.}

17 Apr 2011 22:09:46
Well done today. From an Arsenal fan the game deserved a draw. Thought you lot were proper organized. Got to say though i was embarassed to be an Arsenal fan when Wenger refused to shake Kenny Dalglish's hand that for me was the most dissapointing part of our performance. Just shows the difference is professionilism and sportsmanship between the to. And to be honest i think its trickled down in our squad their attitude is so bad and mentally so weak. That Robinson lad looks like hell be a good player stopped Walcott and Nasri all game. Gotta admit i admire your new squad i reckon next season you'll do proper well.

Just wanted to say I was really impressed with the way we played this afternoon. Skrtel was solid all the way through, carragher played well until he went off, even the Greek looked good at times (but was helped that he was defending high balls rather than quick floor passes) spearing Lucas and meireles moved the ball nicely at times.

Finally a round of applause for Flanagan and Robinson, both were solid and I lost count of the number of times Robinson blocked crosses.

Well done lads

Why people said Jonjo Shelvey not good enough for Liverpool ??
He was good player, that why we sign him. He only 18year old and just back from long time injured. So he need a time to get his best performance. All star player in the world need a time after back from long time injured. See, how Carroll. After a few game, only last week he score. And how long he injured ??? Why KK sign him although KK know about he injury ??? Thats all because he is a good player, we do not sign him for only 5 week contract but we sign for 5 year contract ! !

So people think first before make a rumour or statement.

I know this is sorta being wise after the event, but isn't it really refreshing when youngsters are given the chance. It seems to rejuvenate everyone and is brilliant for team spirit.
To their credit, Ferguson has done it and so has Wenger. I hope that we can do it successfully too.
And it certainly does show that life (after Stevie G) and the club goes on.
Brilliant.

I feel sorry for Fabio Aurelio. He just seems to get injured time and time again. I honestly think we'd have one of the best left back's in the country if he was able to stay fit.

On the other hand, i'm not sure what Roy was thinking bringing him back. He'd only be worth it on a pay as you play deal.

Unfortunately, i think his time at Liverpool should come to an end in the summer.

The bulldog

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

No mate. I was just replying to the way the poster said it, I think Flanagans done really well to have stepped in in these last two games and i wouldn't have any problems to see him carry on, if Kelly was injured.
But i'd obviously prefer Kelly to come back in on the right.

17 Apr 2011 20:51:14
Do you mean Cazorlas price is way too low Ed? I can't see you meaning Defour or Kjaer.

How much do you think Cazorla would cost ? Admittedly I did take a guess on Benzemas I know he cost 30 million but don't think we will be paying that price for him. {Ed001's Note - Benzema is not going to be available at a cut price because he is still in demand, half the Prem would jump at the chance to sign him. Cazorla is unlikely to join, he makes Meireles seem like a hardman, good ability but he likes to play central.}

I'm quite happy to see Flanagan carry on at right back mate. My only concern is that i think he could really use Carragher playing next to him as his organisation can be key for an inexperienced player.

Thinks it's so funny how wen we win everyone is I love this player this player is amazin and all that ! Wen we loose or draw everyone is like get rid him he is s@&t he should never where red shirt gen sell him and all that people there is no player that will have a great game every single game he plays we all make mistakes in our lives and would love all u lot to have go c if u could do better ! I know some of u can't even kick a ball so shut up and back our team we are a team that can achieve some very good things in football and until then show ur support and back our players we have done amazin to get this far from the bad start we got ! ! So sad to see us go for a draw today. A point meant nothing whereas 3 means a hell of a lot. In the end we were lucky to get one but it was a bit sad to see our delay tactics when it was 0-0.
Highlights for me were:
Spearing running 50 yards to reclaim the ball that Cesc stole from him
Aurelio almost playing two games in a row
SAF seated behind Jova and Poulsen (hopefully chequebook in pocket)
But most of all Wenger looking sheepish after trying to contest the penalty with Dalglish telling him exactly where to go.

Nice to see Wenger was as gracious as ever. . .the man is a true Muppet in the mould of SAF. . .The Devine Right of Kings(well T*@ts in their case) Why do they feel when they don't win (and they didn't deserve to today) that it was down to the other team playing well rather than a reason from their we must win book?! ! {Ed001's Note - you sound far more arrogant than anything. Take this petty little whining about Ed002's choice of team elsewhere, it is pathetic and unnecessary that you discount an opinion purely because it doesn't suit your blinkered arrogance. Real Madrid happen to have 9, try counting them it comes a fair bit after 5, European Cups if it comes to attracting players. Some of you are an embarrassment with your arrogance, we aren't the only club that has European trophies.}

Hey Eds. .

Hope you don't mind but I've pasted the link to the Kenny petition on the Liverpool Page on Facebook.

There are over 5 million fans on it :-)

On another note, if anyone is still suggesting Spearing isn't a player, I suggest you watch the City and Arsenal games again then come back here and hold your hands up.

"Question to the floor: how do people think jonjo shelvy is developing at the club?"

Nothing outstanding.
I think he should go on loan to a club like QPR next season, so he gets regular PL games, and then we'll assess the player the year after.

It may surprise you, but not everyone wants our club to have anything to do with the royal family, or their honours. We all know about this petition now, so please stop going on about it.

"Players can have bad days. Go watch the goal he scored against Birmingham while playing for Villa. How much would you pay for that?"

You don't pay defenders to score, you pay defenders to prevent the other team from scoring.
Anything a defender scores for us is a bonus, but essentially, a goal saved is a goal scored, and their prime duty is to prevent the opposition from scoring.
Get it?

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I'm quite happy to see Flanagan carry on at right back mate. My only concern is that i think he could really use Carragher playing next to him as his organisation can be key for an inexperienced player.

Well done lads! . The grit, determination and the never say die attitude which was missing since last season and half is returning. Really happy to see two young boys playing against the likes of Walcott and nasri and coming out with flying colours. I was having a real nasty feeling when kyrgiakos came on but we held on. Well done to everybody especially spearing, Flanagan and Robinson. I am missing Steve parker now, he would have ripped wenger apart tonight. And finally if this isn't evidence enough that the King deserves a 3 year contract(atleast) then God knows what is.

For the peoples who thinks that top Players don't want to come to Anfield due to lack of Champions League Football, Remember this.
City had attracted a lot of top players. We also attracted Suarez who is a top striker in the World. Sunderland who were nearer to relegation battle has attracted Gyan, a world cup star. If our History can't do it no player is wanted here. INDIAN RED

Typical arrogant Chelsea fan who thinks that Liverpool cannot compete with other top European sides in the transfer market. We have 5, count them 5, Euro League titles and as such we are respected around Europe for footballing achievements and not the size of the chequebook. If KK genuinely wants a player and believes that he is good enough then we will move heaven and earth to get him. Liverpool are on the up and with Kenny at the helm we are a very attractive proposition for ANY player.

/ / have to agree with most of this (ed002 does write us off with most players, and its been shown before with suarez that liverpool are just as attractive a club as chelsea/ man u/ real madrid). In the end none of us know what each different footballer wants. Not all footballers will care about champions league, look at the ones who went to man city (only after money). Maybe some will want to join a club with a lot of tradition and heritage (liverpool/ real madrid). Finally the club is on the up so lets hope in the summer KK and DC can convince some top class players to join us. YNWA

After the game, i just to say it's fantastic game. Awesome play from Liverpool, because the spirit and mentality from player. It's bad because losing Aurelio and Carragher, but now hope both will get well for next match. A lot youngster at the game, Flanagan, Robinson, Spearing and Shelvey. They are awesome, but that normal if they have a little bit nervous because it's a big game and it's not an easy game. But they did well and need more game, i trust youngster have a bright future under Kenny Dalglish.
For now, we should trust the youngster because they all good player and just need a more game. For next season just hope we can sign 5-6 player to add more strenght in squad.

Question to the floor: how do people think jonjo shelvy is developing at the club?

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

In my opinion, i think it's to hard to assess at the moment mate. I think he was poor today but only because of the fact he has a pretty long injury lay-off.
Next season will probably be more suitable to ask this as he'll probably have more game time. That's just my opinion!

Not one too single out a player mate, but i must also admit I do not really see the potential in Shelvey that so many others do. Looks to not have much skill and not much pace. Not sure where he is really suited to play either.

Ed's, whats your thoughts on him? {Ed001's Note - he is struggling with the step up in level to the Prem, he has got ability but it is difficult to play at his best when he is out of position. At the moment it is just about a learning process for him.}

{Ed002's Note - So given that Inter Milan and Real Madrid have already declared an interest with Dortmund, it is tough to see how Liverpool could attract the player.}

Take this petty little whining about Ed002's choice of team elsewhere, it is pathetic and unnecessary that you discount an opinion purely because it doesn't suit your blinkered arrogance. Real Madrid happen to have 9, try counting them it comes a fair bit after 5, European Cups if it comes to attracting players. Some of you are an embarrassment with your arrogance, we aren't the only club that has European trophies.}

17 Apr 2011 19:32:12
Jay spearing and Lucas played really well today and but my concern is again the in consistancy in the form of KUYT and Miereles. .I have said on here many a time that kuyt works hard and has 1in3 brilliant games were he is creative, doesn't lose the ball and wins the ball back all the time. but then will have two stinkers were nothing at all comes off for him. .and again miereles i don't know he is on the pitch sometimes until he pops up with the odd goal. .

I hope KK doesn't get to destracted with the fact we need wide players which we know we do.

We really need a world class central attacking midfielder cos we haven't got one. We have a great work ethic now in midfield but no real link to the forwards. and that was obvious today.

For me adam is not the player we need it has to be Sanchez. .

I will agree Lucas played rather well today along with Jay Spearing, however if you honestly think that we don't need anymore 'centre mids' then I believe you are rather niave.

We definitely cannot win the League with these two players in centre midfield, not being disrespectful as they give their all, however away from home (as today) we need creativity and some form of guile and craft, and unfortunately these two do not offer any of the aforementioned capabilities, we created absolute nothing from midfield today - we definitely need a creative midfielder other then Gerrard and the "on and off, in and out" Meireles.

As an aside I thought the two youngsters Flanagan, and especially Robinson were outstanding, they showed a degree of stability and assuredness well beyond their years.

Furthermore, can we continue to 'persevere' will Aurelio? the man is simply too injury proned!

Does anybody know the exent of Carra's injury?

How does that karma taste Monsieur Wenger?
Hard luck Spearing, worked tremendously hard all game but very unlucky to be given a penalty against him. Never gave up, and very promising player. I would be so gutted if he left in the summer. Highly rate the player. If Spearing is given the amount of time Lucas has had, (and we remember how bad he used to be but has come on since), Spearing will be better than Lucas - hands down.
Robbo and Flannas had very credible efforts today. Especially after Carra got taken off and the greek waiter came on. Both stood up to the challenge and took it full on. What a wonderful reflection on the academy. We may not have to invest heavily into a LB after all! Both look very promising. But Mr Glass Legs (Aurelio) must move on, he is so injury prone.
Hope Carra and Carroll are okay and injuries not too serious.
Lucas had yet another cracking game. Always went to help double up with the full backs. Put his neck out, same with Meireles. Kuyt was a work horse, Suarez looked sharp, Reina formidable as ever. Skrtel also had a good game, and so did Kyriakos (spelling) for his part. Shelvey looked slow and uncomfortable, still not convinced. Needs time.

What a game! A point is a good result. Still gives us an edge on Everton, breathing down Spurs' back and puts Arsenal a little closer to United.
United could still slip up. I doubt they will lose to Blackburn or Blackpool, but Newcastle, Chelsea and Bolton aren't easy games, and if Arsenal beat United. .it will be close. I don't see Arsenal slipping up too much from here on in. Just hope they beat Spurs now!

That's my summing up. Feel free to comment with (dis)agreeing opinions.

We will be a major force in seasons to come not only did we hold off a full strength Arsenal side with superb defensive display with 2 young full backs we showed we are no longer a 1/ 2 man team .lucas and spearing blocked wave after wave of Arsenal attacks( its time people got of lucas back)Flannagan and Robinson kept nasri and walcott quite on the wings , Suerez and Carrol never had the best of games but are always threat .
well played today lads, only three points behind spurs

A lot of people don't rate Lucas or Adam. Fair enough, we're all entitled to our opinion. Neither are the the most gifted dribblers like Suarez. But we've got to be realistic because e've probably missed our chance to sign Honda, atleast until January.
What I like about Lucas is that he's willing to clog up the wholes & win tackles before they get to the back four. What he lacks is the passing range needed to find Andy Carroll's head. Or to spray it out wide. I'm not talking about Carragher-esque hoofing. I'm talking about accurate long balls that would reach the target before even Maradona or Pele could dribble it there. I stress accurate long range passing "NOT HOOF& HOPE" long ball (that is what KK sees in C.Adam). A player don't always have to be Flair type dribbler. The most important thing for a centre mid is how fast he can bring the ball under control & pass accurate through balls which wingers & strikers thrive on. This way the formation doesn't loose shape. Centre mid isn't the place for dribblers especially in the BPL. That's what the wings are for.

I have no interest in showboating or fancy tricks thank you, Bale looks spectacular in the highlights but like many wingers is also capable of doing little for large amounts of time. Spurs flood the midfield to make up for this lack of inactivity and he's fast becoming a luxury player. We spent large on a half season wonder in the shape of Carroll because both the owners and manager were between a rock and a hard place. It was the 11th hour, none of the primary targets were available and if the money was held on to the more moronic fans would have started an internet hate campaign claiming the owners were asset stripping. The January transfer window is completely different in almost every aspect to the summer window, that's why i doubt we'd put all our eggs in one Bale shaped basket.

He's a good player, don't get me wrong, but he is far from deserving of PFA player of the year or the huge price tag that's likely to be hung around his neck. Players that rely on speed alone rarely maintain wondrous careers and in my opinion teams have started to work out his game and are beginning to quite easily negate his impact.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Did I say he deserves the PFA Player of the Year award? No. Did I say he's worth huge amounts of money? No. So I don't get what your point to me is? I was pointing out that he is a quality player & would be a fantastic addition to our squad. Would I pay £40m for Bale or £15m on Dzsudzsak? Balazs all the way!

Spearing was awesome against Man City as well, and is starting come on loads in the last few games, and as for Flanno and Robinson, I don't think we have much choice, they way it is going we could be using a lot more young players due to injuries. Ross

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is set to be given a 'significant' transfer budget to use this summer - but rather than add depth to his squad, he is set to rely on younger players from the academy and use the money for one big star.

This big star, like I have said before is Gareth Bale!

Just seen interviews on Sky with Dalglish and Wenger. One is a spoilt, unrealistic, arrogant, unseeing, weak and petty liar of a man, who has the attitude that would shame a 12 year old. Normally I wait a while to reflect on the match before commenting however I feel it's worthwhile doing it this time.

Aurelilo, sorry mate your body can't take it; good player but if you have 1 & 1/ 4 game and can't handle it then times up i'm afraid.

On an already weakened team to lose your experienced left back is a huge blow.

Spearing - MOM; well played tracking etc. . you've shown that when we are not the dominating then you can do the job well - i'm not saying he's the best midfielder we have what I'm saying is he's a good squad player - he's homegrown and local!

Lucas - well done son; you helped the youngsters and you done a lot of work; some things didn't come off but u kept your head high and done a lot of good things against a team that was constantly testing.

Flanagan / Robinson - not the greatest games; very very good considering the opposition - distribution, tackling and closing down was very good - loved it when Robinson caught up with Walcott.

The team - remember how many injuries we had today; remember the average age of the team. I think with a number of exits and 1st team additions then the futures bright; the futures Red!

Well done to KK for telling Wenger to do one but also keeping the youngsters relaxed. The sooner your contract is sorted the better!

Also watched the U18's game today - 6 - 0 against the mancs; played really well - Sterling looks a class above.

Thanks Rafa and thanks to all current coaching staff.

Also thanks to the Gunners medical team getting on to help Carra much appreciated.

Incredible. 3 months ago, LFC heads would have dropped. Now, massive belief and pride - never give up even in tbe 108th minute. And this is nowhere near a full strength Liverpool team - Carra & Carrol went off two teenage defenders. Rumour in The Times is that SAF has already said privately that LFC will be massive in 11/ 12. LFC need careful signings, not superstar names all over the pitch - its the mix and style that's vital. Comoli will scout smart. Clarke will get the team sharp. And Kenny, legend, champion, winner - has style.

Definitely have to look at getting some defenders that can stay fit for a whole game. Fair play to Carra that was a total accident, but we have had to change our defence a good few times recentley. This loses impotice and stop Kenny from being tactical with his subs. The 2 young guys played well today but we ca't rely on them all the time. Need proven world class defenders this summer.

Typical knobheads slating players thru the game. Lucas & Kuyt etc. As I said yesterday, our other players must be super human to carry so many crap & ageing players. Throw into the mix a 17 year old left back, a 18 year old right back & a 19 year old midfielder. So how did we get anything out of the game? Big Balls & the fact that the so called crap players don't come on here & see what's been written about them. You doubters really don't now what your on about. Really embarrising.

I have got to give credit where it's due guys, your young boys played very well today, very gritty performance. Looking at United's and Liverpool's youth players, I would say both clubs will be battling it out for a long time. Both clubs have immense quality in the youth department.

Hi ed, Im from the Philippines and me mates with Phil Younghusband, im not sure if your familiar with him but he's a former reserved player of Chelsea while Jose Mourinho, and now he lives here in the Phils and is a Philippine team player anyway Jose and Phil became close while their stay at Chelsea and Phil told me that Jose told him that Jose would first finish his contract at Real Madrid, after if Chelsea still havent won the CL then he will go back to Chelsea, but if Chelsea had won it then he would manage the Portugal team. These should quash all the Jose to Liverpool rumours, anyway he really isn't the one we need, he is very arrogant and plays boooooring football. What you reckon ed?

P.S. Hope Phil don't read these for doesn't know i hate Jose!

He's an overpriced Walcott who happens to be flavour of the month after a couple of big performances. Relies on sheer pace, can't weight a pass, prone to a leaden touch in tight circumstances and can be booted/ blocked out of the game all too easily. No thanks, i'd prefer a winger who can cross rather than one who may score a once-in-a-blue-moon wonder hat trick. Thankfully i doubt we'd blow our entire budget on such a half-season hero.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
What have you been watching this season? He's quality! He doesn't do fancy tricks & showboat (which is probably why you think he's overrated). He can run, glide past full backs, cross it well & shoot well. He's direct, which is the kind of winger we need. I very much doubt we'll get him mind you, but if we did, I'd be buzzing. Realistically Dzsudzsak is the man for us. Haven't we already blown £35m on a 'half-season hero'? In the form of Andy Carroll? & look how that's going, very well indeed! Seeing as though he was out for 2 months.

Stone YNWA."

I can't reveal my sources but my dad King Kenny (I just call him dad) will be signing mostly British talent in the Summer. Amongst those he favours are ;

Jordan Henderson, James McArthy, Matt Jarvis, Scott Parker, Conor Wickham, Charlie Adam, Shay Given, Adam Johnson, Micah Richards and our ex-player Adam Hamill.

Top foreign targets are;

Dsudszak, M'Vila, Gago, Benzema and Payet.

Those definitely NOT on his shopping-list are ;

Gareth Bale, Aguero, Lukaku, Modric, Hazard, Contrao and Hulk.

Im feeling a big win today, we are due a win at the emirates and the way we made City look "ordinary" should mean we take that confidence to Arsenal today. My prediction is 3-1. Scorers for Liverpool Carroll, Suarez (2) and for Arsenal Nasri.

well the wise one has spoken everyone we might as well give up on ever winning the title because this 'person' says so.

i'm hoping the rumour about Newcastle wanting Jay Spearing as part of any transfer involving Jose Enrique, i can't see Kenny letting the player go, so it could be a deal breaker and then club can target another better player. Gary Linekar-

"I've been in Kenny Dalglish's company many times around the world and one thing never ceases to amaze me, " he wrote in his column for TheNews of the World.

"He'll know every player, where they came from, their strengths and weaknesses and how the manager sets his team out. To describe his knowledge as encyclopaedic is to do him a disservice.

"Tactically, he's so sharp that he leaves the rest of us for dead. He's one of those rare breed, a truly great player who made the transition to become a truly great manager. In a way, he's similar to Johan Cruyff who I worked with at Barcelona." {Ed007's Note - Proved that at Celtic didn't he?}

If PFA gives the player of the season award to Bale I will lose all the respect (that I have left) for them. It'd be a shame. They didn't give it to Gerrard in 2008-09 season, now they are giving it to Bale for scoring a hat-trick in the Champions League!? I think Scott Parker or Vidic deserve it. (Have your say, who'd you give it to?)

And also best young player should be Hernandez not Wilshere. It's not easy to score 15 goals in your debut season in England, especially if you only played in the Mexican League before. And why in the hell ANDY CARROLL isn't nominated, can someone please explain it to me?? (And Gareth Bale gets the nomination here too) He scored 13 goals this season + 1 for England in 2 games. Imagine what he would have done if he hadnt been out injured for two months. I just cant, I just don't understand them.

17 Apr 2011 14:08:35
Both Bale and Modric are very over rated. The fact he is favourite to win Player of the Year is a joke IMO. Baines, Vidic and even Lucas have had better seasons than those two. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - TBH I don't think they are over rated but I think seamus Coleman off everyone should win it he has come on alot this year Gareth YNWA

Ed, do you think Lucas has proved his critics wrong. If so what is it about him that has made this possible. Secondly, do u think he is better than Charlie Adam. If so what is it about him that makes him better.
I think Adam can do all that Lucas does & has a better passing range & a better left foot
Football is based on passing the ball. Pass pass pass pass pass. Its the key to winning & Adam can definitely PASS a football
As for Banega & Co it remains to be seen wether or not they can pass effectively at the pace of the premiere league. Slower leagues allow a player more time to get the passing right {Ed007's Note - Charlie Adam NO NO NO NO NEVER EVER EVERRRRRR!!! AAARRGGHH lol}

Hey all, took this post off the spurs rumours page. Highly unlikely I think you'll agree, but I for one will be doing a dance of joy if this comes to pass. Maxi, is a useful squad player and ngog may well become a premiership class striker for a team like birmingham or sunderland in the next 4-5 years, but spurs signing these players would be like ferrari deciding to use a citron saxo in formula one next year,

Concrete info spurs set to buy maxi and ngog from liverpool in a cut price deal part ex for dawson and huddlestone who are unsettled. you hear it here first.

"I agree with everything said except that we do need a creative MF. Lucas & Spearing can handle the defensive harassing role. Problem is that Gerrard (when fit and at his best), Meireles and Shelvey are box to box all action MF's. We need a creative - Alonso-esque - midfielder who picks passes. When we had a 3 man midfield of Masch (DM), Gerrard (AM) and Alonso (Creativity in CM) we were at our best imo. I think Kenny wants this again with a potent attacking front 3 (4-3-3 / 4-5-1 on defence). My bet would be a front 3 of Suarez/ Carroll/ Young if I am right in what Kenny is thinking. I also think Kenny fancies Adam for the Alonso role.

Ed's any sense in what I am thinking? (Although I persoanlly don't rate Young. I do rate Adam though)"

Fair point and I agree - a creative attacking midfielder is needed, as Gerrard is coming to the end of his rope.
Alonso-esque players are rare though, and expensive too. I think Meireles could be deployed into this role if need be, but it is not a natural fit. If Kenny thinks Adam is fit for the role though, I trust Kenny as his judgement is infinite times better than mine, although like you I do not rate him too highly.
A few years back, when Benitez took charge, we were linked with Aimar - I would like to have a player of that style and versatility but obviously younger. He can be attacking mid or winger - with good vision for a cross or through ball - so that would certainly be useful.
However, I think there is high demand for this type of player and they are few and far between so there is bound to be strong competition. And let's face it, if there is enough money involved, most players will join any club and sugar-coat it with 'I feel this club has great potential'.
It will be interesting.

{Ed002's Note - Yep - apologies and certainly no hard feelings. The problem comes with those readers expecting Neymar and Ganso to be at Anfield next season, they are simply not realistic. There is certainly interest in Defour and there are certainly other midfield options out there (Sissoko, M'Vila et al). Like many clubs Liverpool are out there pushing to get some business concluded for the start of the transfer window and I am sure there will be some decent players coming in. There is a come and get me plea from Payet to pretty much anyone who will listen and perhaps Liverpool should be looking closely - obviously Comolli knows the player well already.}
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I agree Ed, We do not have CL football to offer players at the moment, and that is going to put some players off, But I belive that we can still get some very good players for next season. Do you know if Liverpool have made any enquiries about Payet, as I understand this could be tricky due to Comolli gentlemen's agreement with St Et. But if he wants to leave, then surely st Etienne will not be to upset. Ross

I told you Liverpool were in for Bale 35 million pound, done deal! Cant wait to see him at anfield next year!

Major doubts over whether Ryan Giggs will now receive that knighthood he is being touted for. On the pitch he has been outstanding. Paul Merson even rated him higher than George Best in one Sunday newspaper. Way out of order there Paul - George was simply THE Best!

Left out of Manchester United's FA Cup semi-final team and not even on the bench after starring three days earlier against Chelsea in the Champions League, he appears to have strayed offside and it will be a surprise if he turns up at Buck House for the sword play!

No Knighthood for Giggs before Kenny !

LFC Rumours

I expect Maxi, Jova, Ngog, Cole, Poulsen, Konch, Aquilani, Degen, El Zhar, Jones, Irwin, El Zhar will move on, to raise around 35m, even though the budget is strictly a player-by-player basis. KK and DC have to convince FSG that the player is worth the amount they want to spend on him. DC has 15 point plan as bullet points, saying where we want to go under FSG. However don't expect us to buy a load of superstars, just players to improve the squad. Maybe 1/ 2 big names this summer.

Right, currently we are looking at 9 positions to improve on. We want 2 strikers as Kenny wants 4 top strikers at the club. We want 2 wingers with pace and technical ability. We want a creative midfielder, one that can control the game and set the tempo, ala Alonso, whom we havent fully replaced as of yet. We want a CB, as Soto will move on, Carra is declining, Skrtel is inconsistent (but is rated by Kenny) and Agger is too injury prone to be relied on. LB is a problem we have had for a long time, since Riise left. And we want a backup GK, as Jones has been told he's not wanted.

We want Benzema, Young, Dzsudzsak/ Lennon, Adam, Douchez, Cahill, Enrique, Wickham.

Lloris, Akinfeev or Hennessey will sign if Reina leaves. (which I seriously doubt he will)

Kenny will get 3 year deal, as will Steve Clarke. I think Villas-Boas will come in when Kenny leaves.

Reina and Agger will sign new deals. LFC anxious to remove the 20m release clause in Reina's contract currently.

R.E : Wickham signing a new contract. It just has an added bonus in it for Ipswich. I expect Wickham to move on, Ive been told he's coming here, but Man Utd, Arsenal, Spurs, Newcastle, Bolton, West Brom amongst others are interested. It wouldn't be hard to convince him, seeing as he's a Liverpool fan.

"Ed, Poulsen and spearing, surely both will be off this summer as both are not good enough and with lucas getting a new deal and another cm coming in theres no room for both? "

Poulsen - Yes, he must definitely be off this summer. No worth to the squad.
Spearing on the other hand. Dalglish won't let him go. Maybe on loan, but not sell.
Spearing is a young, talented, local boy. That's what Dalglish advocates. And right on him, he doesn't want us to end up like Arsenal - a team of foreigners that could be any team on face value. Scousers are a different breed and set us apart from other teams. I personally do not believe another cm will be coming in.
With Gerrard, Meireles, Lucas and Spearing being midfielders next season, who else do you need?

Hello mates! 1st of all I think we should sign players for these positions: 2-3wingers, cdm, cm, lb, and maybe a striker(so we can play 4-3-3 when needed and if Carroll or Suarez get injured), and these would be my personal choices:

wingers: marveux, turan and payet.
CDM: Sissokho or M'Villa (would prefer Sissokho)
CM: Adam or Banega or Martinez(would prefer Martinez then Banega then Adam)
LB: Baines or Coentrao or Enrique
(would prefer Baines then Coentrao then Enrique)
Strikers: Hulk, Gervinho, Benzema
(would prefer Hulk then Benzema then Gervinho)

what you think mates? Would any ed please comment? Thanks alot!

Why is it then that we cannot attract top young players? LFC is a massive club with a massive history. In addition a young player like Sahin would get a starting spot with us and a place on the bench behind Ronaldo, Kaka, Oetzil, Alonso, Khedira and co at Madrid. Man City attracted top players with just money, we have money and a pedigree. Or am I missing something?

And it was not moaning, just an observation that you do not ever rate our chances of getting any top young talent. Yes, your opinion, I have given mine.

Recent history? OK then, how about 2nd, should of been 1st, just 2 years ago? How about Istanbul 2005? And why would a young player NOT want to work under someone like Kenny Dalglish, and in a club which will SOON be back to what it was in the 80s, maybe it would help if they knew that then.

Thanks Ed001, nice reply without telling your readers they are vegatables and to go follow Koptalk. .

Basically what I was saying is that (I think) if If Kenny & Comolli really wanted a young player like Sahin (who is not a Ronaldo or Messi) and wouldn't cost 50m, surely the vision of where the club will be next season with the team being 'built around him' as an AM and a nice decent wage structure would perhaps have him interested? I don't understand how we cannot interest a player? What if Inter keep losing and have no CL next season? Will no-one go to Inter (even though they offer them mega wages)?

Just my opinion to Ed002. I won't wine anymore about this and do actually like most of his input on the rumours.

I honestly can't see us winning anything in the next few years if we don't have any central defenders in the squad, but then again what do I know.

Also I was at Bloomfield Rd yesterday, and it changed my mind about Charlie Adam, I was sceptical about us going after him before because he wouldn't be good enough but now I think it could go each way. He could be truly awful but then again in a team which can defend, and with more players around him willing to take responsibility and better movement around him, he could be a good player to have in the squad. In the end Kenny and Comolli will have watched him much more often than I have, and know how they want LFC to play in the future so if they say he's a good enough then I won't argue.

Why would he want to come to one of the biggest clubs in the world, work with a manager that was one of the best players the world has seen with new ambitous owners who want success. I personally think we need to stay away from injury prone players - we have had our fair share over the years. Bale needs to perform for a second season to prove he can do other things than go outside a man to the touch-line with his pace. Defenders seem to have worked him out already. Plus FSG want to pay reasonable money for the next Bale type player, not buy the player when he has hit top price. imo.

My mistake Ed I know he plays for Udinese a Sunday morning thing mate.

I think we have a chance of getting Defour, Banega and Canales so would consider them three viable.

Wishful thinking on Sanchez but so was Suarez in january.

Which leaves S. Cazorla and Nasri. Could you not see us being interested in Nasri due to his contract only having 12 months left come the summer?

Also wouldn't Cazorla be a viable option the wing.

{Ed002's Note - There is no chance of Sanchez and I suspect that Canales will only be available on loan. Banega is someone the club could certainly go after and I have explained that the club have already enquired about Defour. I cannot see Cazorla or Nasri as options.}

17 Apr 2011 09:35:40
Ed I was stunned to hear that Nasri's contract runs out in 2012. Do you know if Comolli has shown any interest in him? Would be excellent on the wing.

Would like to see our midfield consist of the below in summer.

S. Defour Liege.
A. Sanchez R. Madrid.
S. Canales R. Madrid.
E. Banega Valencia.
S. Cazorla Villereal.
S. Nasri's Arsenal.

Would you say the above are viable? {Ed002's Note - No, you will have a very long wait until all of these are in teh Liverpool midfield. And Sanchez plays for Udinese.}

We will not be signing Gareth Bale, If you do some research you will know why. And why would we spend 35 Million on someone who is not worth it. Please stop posting rumours about Gareth Bale it WILL never happen. Thank god Ross.

Picking at all the web sites looks like these are all liverpool targets.

BRAD FRIEDLE. . blackburn rumours sugest he was ready to hang up his gloves if blackburn go down but the prospect of a player/ coach deal at anfield will prove to strong.

FABIO CONTRAO. .the benfica leftback has been watched and is main target enrique is a cover job for the real £25 million target.

PHIL JONES. . this is the only central defender on kennys list the blackburn lad will be moveing for a knock down price if blackburn go down between £8 and £13 million depending on division.

STEVEN DEFOUR. .has been on the liverpool radar for some time and for £12 million will be the only main central midfielder to come in

ADAM BARTON. . the preston midfielder is a £2 million pound target and seen as one for the future to add depth.

ASHLEY YOUNG. . this is a done deal £14 million and maxi rodriguez , young can play right or left wing

JAMES MILNER. . surprise to some but the out of favour city midfielder is the man kenny wants on the right. .£18 million

GARETH BALE. . you can snigger but a £30 million pound offer with joe cole chucked in is on the cards.

CONNER WICKHAM. .liverpool will offer £8 million + add ons for andy carrols back up next season.

SHANE LONG. . . again some might laugh but the reading front man is being watched as we speak £8 million the price.

Ed just wandering, we need a tough tackling, strong defensive midfielder. So what about Walter Gargano from Napoli? He's the man who allows players like Lavezzi, Hamsik and Cavani to play the way they do.
Plus he'd team up with fellow Uruguayan Suarez.

How about the brazilian international lucas leiva apparently he's been the highest tackler in the premier league and has a great attitude -Mc

Gud player but I wouldn't ant to see him at anfield he has said stuff before about Liverpool and he doesn't deserve the honour of playing for us let him go to Madrid where he will disappear like everyone else does

The only reason that Bale could move to another club is if Tottenham don't have champs league next season, im not saying that he will be moving but if he does it will be for that reason, so why would he move to us? Right ed?

filipinoRED {Ed002's Note - I don't expect he will be moving to Liverpool.}

Why Would we spend 35 mill on Bale after spending that amount on Carroll? That's 70 mill on 2 players. We could have bought 4 players for 15 mill and still had 10 mill left in the kitty. Ed, are our pockets really that deep to spending such amounts on 1 or 2 players.

Hey ed, these rumours about Bale and Coentrao, I know they're very unlikely but out of curiosity who would you rather have as our left wing(Coentrao shouldn't be played at LB), Bale or Coentrao? I myself would choose Coentrao. Thanks, I very much value the eds' opinion! Great job on the site and keep it up!

YNWA {Ed005's Note - If transfer fees were discounted I'd probably say Gareth Bale. I think he's been over hyped this season however I still think he's a quality player and could develop into a top class winger. Plus, he's younger and would count as home-grown.}

A couple of points:

1 - Kenny will be manager next season

2 - Next season we will be stronger

3 - Suarez & Carroll will bring us honours

I would like to thank every other football fan throughout the world who paid their respects.

Is it just me or do other people see that charlie adam is a poor defencesive player and steven defour is a class player who can pass like adam but can defend the new alonso in my opinion and only 23 he fits into henry plans {Ed005's Note - Adam isn't a defensive midfielder anyway. And if you watch Steven Defour you'll find out that although he is a great passer of the ball and very creative he is generally poor in the tackle. Although he constantly closes people down.}
