message to santa
the gift i want most this year is to see the ball hitting the back of the net instead of hitting the bar,post,keeper,defenders and row z , ive been good all year and to see us stop dropping points needlessly would be great . i know your a red santa so you must know that apart from the spurs game where we had 9 men we should of won every game . we are defensively sound and play good football all i want for christmas is goals

BREAKING NEWS

I've just been talking to one of Santa's ravens who has been taking notes on which boys and girls are being good and going to bed early tonight and he told me that if all reds fans behave themselves that there may well be a South American striker in Santa's bag for LFC, so behave......Happy Christmas everyone, especially all the Eds, who have put in so much hard work this year, we do appreciate it, so go and put your feet up eat and drink and enjoy your holidays..unless your not Christians..in that case keep working!

Hey, long time reader first time poster.
Can anybody tell me why daniel pacheo fell out with liverpool or did he even fall out and is just out on loan for experience. Felt he was always a bit cocky but so what still looked good. {Ed002's Note - I understand there were issues over his attitude to training.}

Ah, Norn Iron... I miss it mate! Merry Christmas to LFC fans across the globe, hope the New Year goes out with a bang! Happy Hogmanay!

{Cuchulainn's Note - Eds, thanks guys for keeping me sane on a daily basis while waiting for 'permanent stability' in Canada. A great & thoroughly addictive site, you deserve a huge thanks for the hard work. Here's to you and your familes having a relaxed and enjoyable Christmas!}

Cuchulainn's Hounds {Ed002's Note - You and yours have a nifty one. Could be a long wait for any sort of stability in Canada.}

Lol true Ed002, but as long as I get my permanent residency, get back to work and am able to stay with the missus and the daughter, I'll be grand. Still waiting for something which was supposed to have been wrapped up in october. It tests your patience (and your frame of mind!)

Cuchulainn's Hounds {Ed002's Note - Good luck with it CH.}

Cheers mate!

Hi Eds.Yesterday at work a few friends of mine who happen to be Man.Utd fans started going on about Alex Ferguson being a world class manager but I totally disagree.Ok you have to give him credit for winning 12 League titles but he has only won the European Cup/Champions League TWICE IN 25 YEARS.If that makes you world class then what are Bob Paisley who won it 3 Times in 9 Years or Pep Guardiola who has won it twice in 3 seasons and before any Man.Utd fans remind us that they have also reached the final another 2 times well losing the final while being embarresed twice in the final by Barca count for nothing .Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year to all LFC supporters and thanks Eds and keep up the good work.J.B from Malta

hi eds a question for u when i looked at the team against wigan especially the midfield there was not enuff goal scorers apart from suares there is no regular scorers in the team i feel suares misses loads of chances he creates bcos he doesnt trust the other players to score kuyt shud b picked b4 henderson i dont rate him at all. and bcos fergie stated adam had a great left foot he thinks he shud take all the dead balls i feel bellamy is a better dead ball player than adam my point is we clearly need more scorers in the team and with this in mind who do u think will come and go in this window many thanx mc {Ed002's Note - I am not convinced anyone will leave, but I expect a striker to arrive.}

I would just like to say Merry Christmas to everyone. To Ed002 for keeping it real when all around him are losing touch with reality. To Ed001 for creating this monster all those years ago. To the regular posters, the Real KB, Bob the Red, Chris in Tamworth, Blair Mayne, Jonson, to the numerous posters from my wee country ( N Ireland) etc the list is endless. Just remember to pop your head into that next door neighbour who might not be as fortunate as us. Spread the season of good will ( even the mancs).

24 Dec 2011 16:52:50
Ed could you see a scenario where darren bent moves to qpr and then aston villa buy andy carrol of us? I know kenny praises him but it is clear that they would sell him, he never plays {Ed002's Note - No, I can't see that Carroll would be of interest to Aston Villa. Dalglish has defended Carroll and said he is one for the future, so I suspect he will be staying a while longer. And to be fair, the catch-22 situation (which means he cannot get a run of games to start performing as he is not currently performing) hardly helps matters. With a ban looming for Suarez I suspect that he will be playing more.}

24 Dec 2011 16:23:29
Happy crimble to all posters and the eds. Hope you all have a goodun.

24 Dec 2011 14:49:57
ed001, u said ozil is unhappy at madrid, r u sure of it? thanks

Kaizer {Ed001's Note - yes.}

Liverpool should do everything possible to try to sign Ozil if there is the slightest possibility. He'd be awesome - Close to being as good as Gerrard.

£25m is a bargin for a player of his calibre, he is only 23 years old and would represent good resale value. Lets get him in.

BigD

Yeah because its a no brainer to swap Madrid for a mid table english team who's future will feature disappointment, but it's ok you can kid yourselves that this will be the year liverfool win the epl like you do every season. 21 years and counting.

24 Dec 2011 13:25:31
Well, Hope u all fellow fans doing well and wish you merry xmas and happy new year.

i would like to share few views regrding future transfers in and out.

first of all Ins, we have been linked with loads of players as normal but i thing we would be looking at Fordward/striker and playmaker and Right side winger. we have been linked with numours playes but i think top 5 are below
Podloski
Barrios(possibly on loan)
Sisokko
Kagwa(Loan possibly)
Ramirez

FOR WILD CARD
Mathis Fedrico(i know hard one but we have looked for nd he is skillfull nd would come at reason able price )

OUTS
I think we as club need to make most of loaning out players and i cant not recall last time we loaned a player to premiership....Shelvey went to blackpool(championship) but came back stronger. players like Suso, Coady, Strerling,Morgan must be loaned out to premiership clubs even on us continue to pay their wages to gain valuable experience,which would help other clubs and us massively in future. anyway players going out i cant see anyone going. roumours about Johnson leaving does not make sense, he wont move abroad as Euro2012 is round the corner and switching to diffrent country would mean he would be risking his place in England team as players like Kyle Walker would be noticed more and Martin Kelly would be looked into which he could eliminate by playing for LFC due to his playing clause. i think Wilson would be loaned for sure. Kuyt,Aurielo(thank god) would move in summer and maybe only Maxi would move if good offer comes along. {Ed002's Note - Players like Sterling cannot be loaned out - too young.}

Thanks ED002 i think i forgot players under 18 cant be loaned out?,,

Wilshere was loaned at 17.

Martin {Ed002's Note - The rules have changed now. There is much more protection of kids.}

If the owners are reading these pages please go out and get us Ozil, Padolski and A. Johnson

That would give us a fantastic push toward champions league football.

Set up a direct debit with a million fans for 1 pound a week and you have your money back by the end of the season!

That wouldnt be a bad idea m8, im sure we fams would do that, but not so sure the owners would

Maybe 5 quid a week

Theatre of trophies, in conjunction with Liverpool pantomimes present:

A Christmas (Andy) Carroll

It was Christmas Eve. As always, Anfield was dark, dank, desolate, and void of hope. The stench of failure pervaded every nook and cranny. Ebeneezer W Henry was assessing how he could squeeze money out of his latest venture, and "King" Kenny Cratchett was inadvertently plotting to waste his money.

Eventually, late into Christmas Eve Ebeneezer allowed "King" Kenny to go home to his family, Mrs Cratchett and Tiny Stevie G.

Continuing to count his money, all of a sudden a little man appeared out of thin air. Covered in locks and chains, the apparition proclaimed, "Ebineezer, I am LFC's loyal, but discarded trainer Samuel Lee. I am here to tell you, starting at midnight, you are going to be visited by 3 ghosts who will show you the error of your ways". "Bah humbug" shouted Henry, and the apparition disappeared.

Ebeneezer fell asleep, but as the clock struck midnight he awoke with a start as the first ghost appeared.

The apparition was a rotund man, dressed in a waiter's uniform with a goatee beard, the kind you would only grow for a bet. He spoke to Ebeneezer in a Spanish accent, "I am Rafa, the ghost of Liverpool's past. I have been reduced to appearing on Soccer AM whilst waiting around hoping you will be stupid enough to re-employ me! I made a complete mess of Liverpool the last time and that's a fact, but the gullible, I mean knowledgeable Liverpool fans love me!"

Rafa left, and the second ghost appeared. "I am Woy, and I am the ghost of your recent past. Your knowledgeable fans hounded me out, they honestly haven't got a clue! I have forgotten more about football management than your current manager has ever known"

Ghost Woy left, and the dreaded ghost of Liverpool's future appeared. Dressed in a black full-length hooded gown, and holding a sythe, he was only identifiable by a huge great nose protruding from his hood. "I am Thommo, the embarrassing bitter and twisted Soccer Saturday ghost to show you Liverpool's future".

He duly showed a future of continued trophyless seasons, year after year, bleak, dark, dank, empty and desperate.

It was daylight and Ebeneezer woke with a start. Was this all just a dream? He opened a window and shouted to a dim looking lad walking by "you there, boy, what is your name, and what day is this"? "my name sir? why I'm Damian Comolli, and it's Christmas Day!"

"I haven't missed it!" Ebeneezer exclaimed. "Boy, would you help me? I want you to buy the biggest turkey in the land!" Damian replied "No problem sir. I specialise in buying turkeys! There is the biggest turkey for sale at Mike Ashley's Turkeys Direct shop, but it will cost 35m". "Buy it" proclaimed Ebeneezer, and instructed the turkey to be taken round to King Kenny Cratchett's place within the hour, as he wanted to surprise Tiny Stevie G".

An hour later, the turkey was sitting on "King" Kenny Cratchett's bench. As you do at Christmas, the turkey was named Andy.

Ebeneezer looked down at Tiny Stevie G. "Why do you always need crutches Tiny Stevie G"?. "I'm always f*cking injured" came Tiny's whimpering reply.

"Why are you wearing a Chelsea shirt"? asked Ebineezer. "It's a belated Xmas present. I have wanted a Chelsea shirt since 2004. I wanted to kiss their badge and win the league, but I wasn't allowed to. I was forced to stay where I am" he sobbed!

Looking down at Andy the turkey, and the often injured Tiny Stevie G, Ebineezer proclaimed " I am a changed man! On this Christmas day I declare that I will put Liverpool where they deserve to be.
"King" Kenny proclaimed "And Ebineezer, I promise to find a lot more turkeys where Andy came from!"

Tiny Stevie G continued to sob, and whispered, "God help us, everyone".

"King" Kenny delivered on his promise, and Andy the turkey wasn't used and rotted on "King" Kenny's bench.

Even with all the money given to "King" Kenny, he refused to move from his original address;

No 6/7, Premier League Place, No Hope Street, Nowhereland. LO5T 1T

There was great cheer throughout the land as everyone loves a happy ending.

Merry Christmas

In this country there seems to be such a desperation to prove you are not racist that any reference to colour becomes a racial insult.

Last week I was in work and entered another department to look for a colleague I had never met. When I asked who he was in a room full of people I found it almost laughable at the attempted description. Until I asked if they meant the black guy. It does not mean I think more or less of the person but the most distinguishing feature was his colour.

The whole Suarez situation seems to have gotten out of control as a public relations exercise and this has been fuelled by the media.

Suarez's comment has a certain level of naivety attached to which can only come from someone who is blissfully unaware. There seems to be such an attempt to prove that there is zero tolerance to racism that there is no acceptance of Suarez's cultural differences. Suarez is not a racist but his comment seem to be aimed at mainly at Evra's limited stature although the colour reference was badly considered.

I cannot help but feel there has been a trick missed here and a lot of good and awareness could have been created if the FA handled this situation with more thought. Instead Suarez has been made vilified and handed a lengthy ban.

He was wrong, give him a three match ban and allow him to be the face of a cultural awareness campaign. Not just a case of black and white or anti-racism but a campaign based on awareness and acceptance. Part of that is realising that for some people intolerance due to someone's skin colour/culture is such a strange concept that they feel they can comfortably describe someone as a black without it being derogatory.

RedKev

And charge Evra for insults in Spanish that he knew were offensive as well.

Iggypop

The best is when boxing commentaters try to distinguise between two fighters by a different coloured stripe on the shorts or different coloured laces instead of the simple fact, ones black the others white, it really is pretty stupid.

MR EM {Ed002's Note - But they are not insults - try and see this in context. Try and understand the charges.}

hey ed, just read through a few posts about glen johnson. i understand he is a high earner, but people seem of the opinion he has clauses in his contract he can only play RB and must play when fit?
it all seems a bit far fetched to me, he played out of position alot last year at left back with kelly at right back.
maybe, just maybe he plays when hes fit because hes our best right back!
he is, and has been first choice for england for the last few years. yes he may well be sold to lower the wage bill, but as shown at chelsea johnson can be a match winner, surely we are trying to keep our best players? no one except the club the player and his agent no whats in his contract.

Let me start by saying Merry Christams and a Happy New year to all.

With the recent history of things being said on the pitch (player on player, player on ref, ref on player etc etc)..... why doesn't every player wear a micro sized microphone on the collar of their shirt?

Technology is such these days that they can be small enough to not be noticed and fairly cheap.

Everything that is picked up can be transmitted to a little black box for every game, so that if there is a contentious issue, an authorised person can access the data to clarify exactly what was or wasn't said.

I'm sure if every player, ref, coaching staff etc know there language will be picked up, recorded and possibly used against them if needed, you would soon see the respect that everyone is calling out for.

These so called role models for everyone will have to clean up their act and it will add some transparency to the way refs treat players (refs and assistants are mic'ed up anyway.

If you look at the rugby model, it is good to hear a ref explain why they have made a decision and the way the players treat the ref in return.

What does everyone think?

I know some will say that you are just adding unwanted/un-needed technology, but there are plenty of arguments for it to be added.

Football and society has moved on. Techinology is now there and is small enough and cheap enough for it to be viable. Plus the game needs to catch up with the times and use everything that is available (I'm including goal line cameras in this as well, along with the microphones the ref, assistants and 4th official already wear and the buzzers the assistants use to alert the ref to something.

Why not just put them on everyones jackets and just get spied on 24/7??
Football is about kicking a ball not what people say to each other during the game.

It's becoming more about what people are doing on the pitch aside from actually playing football though, so I agree with the first post.
Players have a responsibility to set the right example to those that idolise them.

Football would have to be on after the watershed if we could hear everything a footballer says during a game. I am not interested anyway. If your into bitchy gossip read heat magazine or something. Keep football as it is.

MIKEY

We wouldn't be hearing anything a player said. It would be recorded for reference purposes if any situation came up. It could be accessed after the game to prove what was or wasn't said.
It would be on a closed circuit system and recorded direct top a secure server/box that only officials had access to.
The mic's would not broadcast to the general public.

Not for me thanks. Bit too 1984 for me lol

MIKEY

It happens on the rugby pitch! You can hear everything the players and refs say to each other. And we all know how respectful rugby players are of the refs. Football could learn a thing or two from rugby in that respect.

I would like to thank all the EDs for the last 12 months of entertainment. This site is absolutely brilliant. How on earth they put up with some of the stupid articles I will never know. They have the patience of saints, but if Im honest, my favourite has to be Ed001. Always respectful, witty and knowledgeable on all subjects to do with LFC

Happy Xmas to all the EDs and I hope you and your families have a wonderful time over the holiday period.

Best wishes

Liverpool Football Club has shown an astonishing naďvety and lack of common sense in their approach to handling the Luis Suarez/Patrice Evra incident. From the time that the initial complaint was made by Evra, the club has adopted an aggressive, belligerent and very public stance to dealing with the matter.

Whoever is in charge of the Public Relations at Liverpool should be fired as the advice they are providing is counterproductive and hurting the brand.

For those who have not followed the story between Liverpool’s Luis Suarez and Manchester United’s Patrice Evra, a brief recap.

An incident occurred on 15 October 2011 during the Premier League fixture between Liverpool and Manchester United, following which Evra claimed that Suarez racially abused him “at least ten times”. The matter was reported to the Football Association (“FA”) who launched an investigation.

Liverpool’s initial response was to deny, deny and deny again. An unnamed Liverpool spokesman was quoted as saying “The first thing we did, as you would expect, is ask the player and he has categorically denied using any language of that nature.” This approach does not tend to end well as Bill Clinton found out during the Lewinsky cigar debacle. I understand that the club feels an obligation to protect and support a highly prized asset, but PR101 should have steered the club clear of such a definitive statement until all the facts and the evidence had been presented.

Following the decision to investigate the issue, the FA made it clear that both clubs were not to discuss the matter in the media. From this Guardian article on 16 November 2011 it was noted that “The FA is acutely aware of the sensitivities between the two clubs and asked them both at the outset not to risk inflaming the situation by discussing it in the media.” From a PR101 perspective, Liverpool have managed another epic fail in not respecting the wishes of the FA in this regard. Suarez and manager Kenny Dalglish, in particular, have made numerous media statements and comments which have not shown the club in a positive light.

On 20 December 2011, the FA released a statement saying that Luis Suarez had been “banned for eight games and fined £40,000 after being found guilty of misconduct, regarding using insulting words towards Patrice Evra of Manchester United. Unfortunately, the FA did not (for reasons best known to themselves) release the detailed reasoning behind their decision which is to follow in due course.

To call the reaction of Liverpool FC hysterical when they released this would be a huge understatement. Understandably, the club would be upset that the FA made a decision against their player, but from a PR perspective this is where cool heads are required to assess the situation and to come out with a level-headed response. Instead, it appears that the PR gurus were high on a combination of crack and heroin when they decided to run the statement on the club’s website.

The statement contains inaccuracies, contradictions and an accusation of bias against the FA, which Liverpool FC have based entirely on the word of Luis Suarez without having studied all of the available evidence (because it hasn’t been released yet). As argued here by Andi Thomas, “Liverpool fans are being told by their club to reject a decision they have not seen the reasoning behind, simply on the basis that the club disagrees with it.”

The club continues to dig its own grave by making statements about Suarez not being racist and how “some of his best mates are Tokyo Sexwale”. They point to Suarez being of mixed heritage, the work he does for charity and how he has black teammates. The matter decided on by the FA had nothing to do with whether or not Suarez was racist because it is still possible for a person to make racist remarks regardless of whether that person is racist or not.

To make matters worse, the Liverpool PR team took another leave of absence prior to Liverpool’s game against Wigan on 21 December 2011 at the DW stadium. This time it was the Liverpool players who released a statement on the club’s website and warmed up wearing t-shirts in support of Suarez. Missing the point entirely, they stated that “We totally support Luis and we want the world to know that. We know he is not racist.” I don’t have a problem with the Liverpool players rallying around a friend in a time of need, but I have a problem when the comments made are misguided. To repeat once more, the FA made no mention of whether or not Suarez was racist and Evra also echoed the same sentiment. That has not, and is not, the issue here.

Liverpool’s public handling of the Suarez matter has been extremely poor throughout. One can only hope that the current PR team is sacked and replaced with any person who has half a brain. Here’s hoping anyway.

P.S. Somehow, that initial statement reacting to the FA’s findings is still up on the club’s website two days later.

Agreed. This thing has the makings of a PR disaster. I notice the owners have kept their distance. They are smart.

One paragraph was enough for me.

MIKEY

Total and complete hogwash, the OP. The reaction of the club is totally appropriate.

BooDaBooze

We got it mate you don't like Liverpool FC.Why are you posting your opinions on our site? I will personally wait for the findings of the men who made the ruling, before I brand someone who has a black grandfather a racist though.Liverpool are doing a great job of supporting a foreign player with a different cultural background than yours.
Micheal Mouse

To be honest this is a pretty good summary. Looked on lfc.tv and the statement has been removed now. The statement did look like it had been written by an angry 12 year old. Just want to see the back of this now.

Pete Desmond

I think what has annoyed so many fans and the club about this whole affair is the lack of equal treatment. No one denies what luis said was wrong but what Evra called Luis is equally as wrong and could be classed as racist towards south americans. Evra should be receiving the exact same punishment. If this had happened we would all be saying that's harsh but fair. {Ed002's Note - I am not sure that all of the fans would be saying that judging by many of the posts which don't get accepted. However, it remains the case that Evra was not charged with anything because until he gave evidence in relation to Suarez' charge nobody knew he had said anything.}

I can see what your saying but I totally disagree, I'm very happy with the support the club has given Suarez. The FA punishment has given the press and opposing fans the go-ahead to label Luis a racist something LFC and his team mates who know him better than most don't agree with. Sometimes you have to make a stand for what you believe in.
Do the FA ever wonder why they are not popular around the world, they never take into consideration other countries cultures and are quick to shout fix when they don't get their own way
Topcat {Ed002's Note - Aside from some poor reporting in one paper I am aware of, I don't think there is a suggestion that Suarez is a racist.}

Much as I suspect that the original poster is a manc, I also have big missgivings about the way the club have handled this esp the t shirts. However, the reaction is so unlike Liverpool Football Club (we rarely challenge FA decisions) that I cling to the hope that the evidence is spurious and gives grounds for a serious appeal. If not we will look mighty silly and give our enemies plenty of ammunition of the self-pity city sh*te type. Id prefer we did our talking on the pitch with an emphatic win over poor Rovers. Merry Xmas fellow Reds and eds! {Ed002's Note - The original post was not written by a "Manc".}

The statement has not been removed from LFC.tv . Have a look through the archives.

hi guys i know liverpool are looking for new players i just wanna know do we really have funds left and are our owners really gonna spend that kinda money after spending over 100m in the previous transfers and also how poorly our 35m striker when we could have got strikers like podolski,soldado,villa for that kind of money..THX...YNWA {Ed002's Note - Buying Carroll for £35M was the choice of the management team. I have explained that I expect the owners to continue to provide the financial support within reason, but the bulk of the shopping was sone in teh summer. Depending on Champions League qualification, next summer may see more changes, but I would not expect too much in January.}

Look mate, if the club have money to spend on players, it will not be publicized for us all to know. And that is how it should be. So what is the point of asking whether we have the cash pr not?

Just replying to the post about twitter my point was more to the point if it makes you ill and depressed then whats the point of using it. They are soon to take credit. Then when things go wrong they are saying they are depressed. Surely no use equals better quality of life. Unfortunately if you use it you are there to be criticised and shot at or praised. You cant have it all one way. As i said abuse is not right but we live in a society were people are opinanated.

Eds little clarification if possible......what does 3 non EU player limit exactly means??
at a time not more that 3 EU players can take part in single match??or something else?? {Ed002's Note - I don't know what context you have read this in. Various countries have different rules about the number of non-EU players they can have on their books or play in a match. So I would need to see the context in order to understand the question.}

Hi eds, jan wich of these Players are most likely: Podolski, Higuain, De Jong, Cavani, Lavezzi, Albrighton or Hulk? Thanks ED :D {Ed002's Note - We have dealt with all of these separately.}

24 Dec 2011 10:14:26
Serious question please Ed's/All, is Evra going to get charged for what he is reported to have said to Suarez, and if not, what are the reasons?

{Ed002's Note - We don't know. If I had to guess I would suspect not as it was by his own admission as part of the evidence that it came out at all. No one, including Suarez heard what was said.}

Thanks for the clarification Ed, but didn't Suarez also admit to saying what he said so I don't understand why it would matter whether someone else heard what Evra said or not, it was still unnacceptable and not permitted. Had he denied saying it, it is probable that he would have got away with it, so surely Evra admitting what he said should also be treated in the same way?

Lets cut to the chase, both players were saying unnacceptable things to wind each other up as part of the game (which happens in most games). Do I think either of them are racist, No. But the things should not have be said and when said they should be punished, but it has to be fair and consistent.....

For me, this is what makes the whole situation and the FA a joke!

Happy to hear other people's views on this? {Ed002's Note - The charge was made against Suarez. There was no charge against Evra. Whether Evra should subsequently be charged or not is a separate matter. Suarez initially denied saying anything and then he admitted it. He was found guilty as charged and punished. Again, if the punishment is deemed too harsh by some, that is a separate matter and one for the appeal process.}

Surly if the FA are going to give any credability to the charge Evra should get a ban and fine if he said it. It doesn't matter who heard him say it he said it there is no grey area. Suarez admitted what he said afterall.

The FA are making things worse and adding fuel to the fire because they haven't issued the report yet, the media and fans are out of controll and this is turning very ugly.

They took a further 4 days to come to the guilty charge yet it has taken over 4 days to publish the evidence.

Yet agian the FA make a mess....suprise suprise.

GGK {Ed002's Note - Evra cannot be banned and fined without a charge being made against him. And I am by no means sure that the evidence will be made available in the public domain.}

Sorry Ed, do Liverpool need to make a complaint in order for the FA to Charge Evra (Although that would be seen a petty on Liverpools part I'm sure) surely the FA can do this off there own back.
I am sure I read that The FA did say they would publish the findings on their website.

GGK {Ed002's Note - Liverpool are not in a position to complain. I doubt, rightly or wrongly, whether Evra will be charged.}

Ed002, you should work for the Fa with your diplomacy. Where has common sense gone in the world? Without that and too much grey areas in the process and rules, situations like this will happen.

Can you honestly say there is not a lack of common sense and bias in this whole process?

If an FA statement was released stating: "Suarez and Evra have both been naughty boys and will each miss a couple of games whilst heading up a cultural difference education/awareness campaign to prevent similar misunderstandings going forward with John Terry's situation to be closely monitored and handled at a later date"

Would we even be discussing it Ed or have so many unhappy people all over the world? Where has common sense gone.

Have a great x-mas, hope u post this.

Chuck Norris over an out {Ed002's Note - There is no bias per se. QThere was no complaint made against Evra but there was against Suarez. Suarez was charged and found guilty of the two charges. As part of the evidence given it appears Evra said something that would also have resulted in him being charged - but nobody had heard it and the case being dealt with was against Suarez. They are separate issues and I agree that perhaps it would be right to charge Evra retrospectively - but that does no detract from the charges that Suarez was found guilty of.}

It may be felt that punishing Evra for what he admitted in evidence during a racism investigation might prevent other minority persons from being all too honest in the same situation for fear of landing a ban themselves .

Racism the major concern it is I think the authorities want to be seen to be as helpful as they possibly can be to the accusers in order to extract as much information as possible to then deal with the accused as exactly as they can .

Hy ed! 1st merry christmas to all the eds' and reds! I have a strange feeling that saurez might leave either to real or braca because of fa being so harsh toward him and i am quiet sure than club will be ready to deal if we can get either 60-70m(which is a bit crazy) espically barca will sure lure a bid as they are in market for striker! I willn't scold or complain if saurez leave! And for 60mil we can sure bring 3 quality player and they for me will be:
saldado+dejong=35mil
adam johnson/sharqiri=20mil
sissikoo=10m
hoilet=8mil
out:
maxi=3mil
auerilo=3mil
kyut=7mil
sauraz=60-70mil
just imagine but i know its dream but not impossible what do u think ed and fellow reds! And our team would be able of wining anythng i would believe! Once again merry christmas and fingure crossed for our top4 aim! Red i live and breath for!

3 mil for Aurelio haha

What about selling your own granny
and donating the funds to LFC?

24 Dec 2011 10:06:16
ed, who wd you pick between soldado and podolski? and, if we actually bought one of these 2 and OZIL, that would be fantabulous! maybe luuk de jong and ozil! i dont know.. i cant wait to see it all unravel..
balaji raman {Ed001's Note - Podolski offers the ability to cover the left side of attack, I would choose him on that basis, though either would be great.}

Could nt agree more! thanks mate.. i m guessing we ll be doing our business as soon as the window opens?
balaji raman

24 Dec 2011 10:01:38
Ed has there ever been a case of a white man reporting a black man for rasist comments on the pitch?

Genuine honest question {Ed001's Note - not as far as I am aware, no.}

Guys

The abusive attack on Collymore is as pointless as it is disgusting it is exactly what he and his employees Talksport want it gives them another stick to beat us with.

We are targeted because of the huge active support we provide as shown by the number of hits on this site for our page.

If we really want to send a message lets hit them were it hurts in the pocket. Reds fans boycotting the show and not putting money in the bank through phone calls and text denies them the very thing they are trying to achieve revenue. Plus falling ratings means falling advertising revenue.

Reds fans action through dignified non compliance of these people's game has got to be the most effective solution.

Have a great christmas to all the Eds and fans.

Robo red in exile

They can only shoot if given ammunition by stupid 'don't think' people or people who pretend to be 'fans' from clubs they don't really support.
Either way, if they can't shoot they won't.

24 Dec 2011 06:27:29
{Ed001's Note - midfield I expect the other signing to be, though sales will change the plan.}

Whom you think could be on way out, some of players looking to get out or it is management looking to oofload?

Thanks,
Bhavesh shah. {Ed001's Note - the only players to leave will be ones that the management are willing to offload to bring in better players. Well, we would consider selling any player if we get offered ridiculous money to be fair, but I was talking about those we are looking to sell. Johnson, Kuyt, both are assets that can raise a fair amount towards a transfer kitty, both play in positions that we have better players for, both play in areas of the pitch we are looking to buy players for. They are the most likely to leave as it stands, though I am not sure about January being the time they will go, it is difficult doing business then, though neither player are cup-tied for Europe, which makes it easier to sell.}

Glen Johnson is the best player in his position for LFC. Maybe CFC want to buy yet another of our players. ok 40 million {Ed002's Note - Johnson is an ex-Chelsea player.}

24 Dec 2011 09:29:57

Hi people i just want to make a point about people being abused on twitter and i know its not right to be abused. But surely if it bothers them that much then close there twitter account. These people take the credit when they are praised but dont like it when questions are asked. I am not saying being abused is right at all.

I personally am not a twitter user as all i can see is that it causes problems. But if it makes that depressed then dont use it.

Anyway merry christmas all.

So if the minority abuse you and the majority don't you should cancel your account because of the minority?thank god your not in charge of our football club because that my friend is ridiculous

i would like to ask during our glory days we had great players who made up the spine of the team with the likes of grobbelaar between the posts , alan hansen our centre back , the great graeme souness in the midfield , and our great attacking duo the king kenny dalglish and ian rush , my question is do use reckon there are any players in our current squad that are as good as those legends ?

Pepe, agger, steven gerrard, luis suarez,were missing a goal poacher

With the Titanic known as VILLAREAL sinking fast now would be a good idea to try and poach one or two players who will no doubt be disgruntled and looking for a change of scenery. I would nominate:

Bruno Soriano (as a DM)
Nilmar (as a striker)

Rossi?

Lets be like Ron Atkinson and offer at least twice what the player is worth that way we will be sure to sign him Ah forgot John Henry is not that wealthy guess we'll have to do it the way it is being done

And before all the silly posts come in the combined wealth of shareholders in FSG is not available for transfers these guys are not benevalent sheiks

Wise up for Fu*k sake this crack about player signings is becoming stupid

Over optimism is just as bad as being too negative try to find some common sense middle ground

I was going through archives and I was shocked when I had a look at the date. I'm sure Ed001 told me that he created this site ten years ago. lol someone knew John Henry was going to take over Liverpool back in the 70's.
Hey Ed Nostradamus was a Liverpool fan?lol

OMG Its all getting out of control! If Luis is guilty? then we shud accept tht he shud be punished and show that we are not sticking up for this kind of behaviour!....I think the problem is Mr Evra has cried race before (unproven) and that the FA should release the full details with any decision made! we don't know all the facts but it seems very harsh and the media and opposition fans are destroying luis character! ....this is a very very serious matter and its being blown up way too much! Another MAJOR factor is Mr Ferguson! he is loving this! his comments about luis and referees and just about anything go UNPUNISHED! he wants to take the limelight off himself and the serious decline in his team and club finances! ......Liverpool Fc must stand together and not fall into his and the medias trap! stand back! stop with the public shows and go down the QUIET legal dignified route! ..... I would urge supporters to show restraint as our great club is about to be tested once more! ......You'll Never Walk Alone......redmoth!

24 Dec 2011 01:32:44
Ed, if my memory serves me correctly you have said that you think two signings will be made in January, obviously a striker is being sought. What position do you think the other signing will be, if any? Cheers pal

ToonRed {Ed001's Note - midfield I expect the other signing to be, though sales will change the plan.}

Surely not another midfielder ed? Unless you mean an attacking one/ winger rather than just a central midfielder similar to Gerrard, Henderson, Shelvey etc? Cheers pal

ToonRed {Ed005's Note - With Gerrard, Henderson, Adam, Shelvey and even Spearing in there I would imagine the midfielder will be a winger.}

Hi ed,
Do you know the reason why ozil is unhappy at real at the moment and could he be a possibility in january?

Thanks

Thank you

And now liverpools REALISTIC top three targets?

Just heard about the Stan collymore abuse and must stress my utter disgust by our own so called respected fans. My only defence would be that those responsible must surely be fans of other teams trying to tarnish our good name.

No person is worth that kind of abuse and specialy an ex red.

Stan if you read this post then I hope you don't think bad of us reds and I hope your footballing opinions, wether write or wrong are answered with dignity and maturity that's deserved.

Any person who stains our club is a disgrace and I only hope that those responsible are cought and banned from what ever club they truly support.

I don't believe a true red fan would resort to such low depths in abusing you or your family.

Physic red

Deluded if u think fans of other clubs would even be bothered - the club, manager, players and fans just keep digging an ever increasing hole and alienating themselves further from public and football opinion - good work

I personally, even being a liverpool fan, i was a fan of Collymore during his playing days, but as a pundit, i jus cannot stand the man, i have no hatred towards him, no disliking or a liking of him, i jus cant stand his attitude and the way he speaks to people about things, he's very opinianated, which is good, but he's one of those 'my opinion is right, therefore im not willing to listen to yours' for that reason, i cannot listen to him on talksport or on any program where is a pundit, but what was said to him on twitter is a whole other level, it was unneccessary, i believe its 1 thing to dislike someone and keep it to yourself, but another thing to dislike someone and say things that are completly out of order to be said, the person who made those remarks deserves to be punished by law.

23 Dec 2011 23:45:22
Hi Ed's. I don't know how you put up with the repetition of questions. Drives me mad reading them. Are there any more players called Lucas (first name or surname) that we are interested in. I count about half a dozen so far. SnowyRed {Ed001's Note - I have given up trying to keep them all straight, I get them all so mixed up, it is impossible to keep track.}

...& what I don't get is... the BBC & other media outlets are quick to make a very public sacking of a presenter who may have said a stupid comment not in accordance with their 'PC' requisite. So what example is set by then employing a man who is violent to woman & likes to go 'dogging'?
