Great performance tonight by Liverpool and Kenny, well managed tie and deserved winners over two legs. Go all the way now boys and finish the job off at Wembley next month.

While new signings are always (usually) exciting, I agree with Kenny and we shouldn't expect much transfer activity this window. While the team has been misfiring a little up front, they've still created an abundance of chances and once the luck changes or confidence grows the goals will come much more regularly. Last January LFC spent a fortune, no need to do so this year.

And on confidence - a note to all fellow reds supporters - is a confident striker more likely to score than one under pressure? I believe so. So its not in our interests to keep heaping pressure on any player who might be struggling, we would be much better placed doing what we can to ease that pressure and getting behind him no matter what. Isn't that what 'You'll Never Walk Alone" is all about?

Have a great night everyone, one to savour.

25 Jan 2012 23:39:13
Thought Adam, Henderson and Downing were all fantastic tonight (as well as the rest of the team... Including Kuyt!) Clear justification as to why we bought those players and for so called fans to stop the abuse constantly directed at them. No doubt they'll be slated again soon enough, and Kennys head will be called for, but those 'fickle' fans can please themselves.

Fantastic night for LFC, let's bring home some silverware!!

Oh dear people have forgotten Irish Rovers Sarcasm trick, he is defo not a manc in disguise Ed

However can't complain about today's game all I ask is we play like that every week against the Bolton's and Wigan's of the world

Bellamy is a god and a great buy and you know what if we come 5th, 6th or even 7th but win the league cup and or even the F.A cup. I would say that is a more successful season than just getting 4th -McMenemy {Ed016's Note - You missed my irony....}

25 Jan 2012 22:56:48
Just a brilliant performance by both the team, management and a massive shout out to the crowd at the game. I only watched it on tv but the atmosphere sounded amazing and I'm sure that helped inspire the team. That's why players will want to play for Liverpool, for nights like that and the amazing atmosphere that we can create at Anfield!

25 Jan 2012 22:56:33
Supposedly we have been showing a keen interest in Pablo Hernandez and Marko Marin over the last 2 nights. I'd have the pair of em. Am I not correct in saying Marin's contract is up in the summer? Eds??

{Ed016's Note - I do not know, so check the sources, if it reliable then it is possible but if they are either the s*n, the mail, twitter or wikipedia then disregard as crap}

25 Jan 2012 22:53:10
well played the lads tonight so proud and well done king,you have to kick ass more often,bellamy legend unplayable,was nice to see jh and linda enjoying themselves,jammy git owns lfc and has a stunningly beautiful wife like linda,ive never stopped looking for her,lol.ynwa, {Ed016's Note - He is living the dream mate, the absolute dream}

25 Jan 2012 23:36:30
Hmm is everything alright eds? There's no kenny, Henderson ,kuyt or downing bashers on here tonight! Did they actually do something right in a big game! Get and stay behind your team!
Still think they'll be one notable signing in next few days to push us for top 4
John H {Ed016's Note - Lol, they seem to vanish.}

25 Jan 2012 23:36:29
Kenny is the MAN!
Hope everyone saw how much it ment to him, he is Liverpool !
Well done to all the lads.

Well lads. Another draw at home, but a great performance by most of the lads. Thot Bellamy was excellent, and Dirk was fantastic, as was Agger and big Marty. Gerrard was very disciplined and very effective. henderson had a good game, as did Downing.

Still not impressed with Charlie Adam, or Jose Enrique. Adam strikes me as a lazy player, not at all impressed with his work rate. And as for Enrique, the man thinks he's Messi. He's got to know his limitations and stop trying to play his may out of trouble. Both players to me look very complacent, and i'm hoping Kennys post match interview against Bolton will give Adam especially a good tight kick up the a*se, didnt seem to work tonight for him, but did with everyone else. Or maybe Charlie Adam is just not a Liverpool standard player, yeah thats probably more like it...

Anyway, great result, more of the same on saturday. YNWA

KMK {Ed016's Note - It's not a draw when it is a two legged affair}

Enrique is one of most consistent players in the league. You maybe right about Adam although I am a big fan of the player but certainly your wrong about Enrique. Well done the boys!!

Adam played well tonight what you on about? kept beating men and driving in low shots and crosses, hugely important role in the build up to the penalty.

x

Thought adam over all was great tonight, that pass to kuyt I thoght was amazing could have been a great goal. Downing hits some great crosses tonight I think carroll would have loved that serice. Like to mention hart, fantastic keeper were in good hand for england. J.canada

Just because a player is quiet,doesn't mean that he's crap?
Somebody has to do the donkey work and i thought Adam was quite effective,in the sense that tactically he was asked to perform a role and that he did! Bet Kennys not on his case!

I'm not being funny but why can't anfield be like that for every home game?

Imagine our home form if it was!

Stu. {Ed016's Note - Agreed, If I was there every week I would be going all game}

Ed16. If you went every week you would be there every week? I dont get it !

25 Jan 2012 23:33:45
After watching the sky programme about Shankly tonight I realised something, maybe for the first time. We could be in the conference and we would still be LFC, world renowned, steeped in history, a true club, a true family, in a way no other club no matter how big, can ever be, no matter what they think.
There is and will only ever be one Liverpool Football Club.

25 Jan 2012 23:31:50
Bar the obvious (bellamy and Gerrard) Adam and kuyt had decent games, kuyt showed signs of getting back his form, looking forward to wembely

A run of games will do that for a player

25 Jan 2012 23:31:31
Ahhh brilliant, always had faith in the King.....

Thought Adam was back to his early season form in terms of pressing in the midfield. Best defensive display by Stevie in a long time, marked Silva out of 90% of the game. Bellamy what can I say.....Relentless. The team was brilliant today, don't think the City fans would've argued if it ended 5-2, Wembley here we come! Now Kenny do Stretford United and you will make my week haha.

Although bellers was mom and deservedly so how much ground effort and sheer determination did Henderson show proud of you Jordan you are a wholehearted player. {Ed016's Note - Yeah man, he worked hard closed down well, won tackles, really good game}

25 Jan 2012 23:28:31
Absolutely fantastic, everyone worked hard, and God bless KK. And to top it all Shankly is on sky sports 1 a good night all round. Bring it on !! Wembley the reds are coming! the owners were there that was nice to see.

25 Jan 2012 23:23:06
To everyone slating Downing, just watch that performance against England's best RB. Took him on on a number of occasions and succeeded too. He was always in the thick of things with some great crosses into the box. Although his shot was wayward, it showed that he's not afraid to take them on.

All in all a much better performance from our players.
People criticised Kenny, but are now loathing him, hang your head in shame. Fickle.

Stark.

25 Jan 2012 23:16:42
Well then, 12 months on, a cup final to look forward to, a 4th round tie, to look forward to, a challenge for a top 4 place to look forward to..........shame on you so called fans calling for Kenny to step down after the last 2 results. Don't get me wrong, I to have been frustrated at times this season but generally I can see a massive improvement on our play based on the previous years (Rafa's last 18 months and Roy's 6 months in charge). We have basically a young side who need TIME to develop people, TIME, not 6 months or a season. Look at the clubs chasing a top 4, City, have had 3 years to build a squad, Chelski roughly 6 years, Utd, 20+, Spuds 3 years, Arsenal...well ok!! The gist is all these clubs have had a head start on us, for f***s sake we nearly went out of business 18 months ago.....I have said a couple of times on here now, small steps people......finally for any idiots who didn't realise exactly WHAT this CLUB means to Kenny look at his reaction after the game and hang your heads in shame........bring on the 26th Feb! - TMac

Well said mate! On celebration video at liverpoolfc.tv King's eyes were almost watering, I could see his heart was totally melting down with the atmosphere at Anfield... I think we cannot ask God for any other kind of manager...

Jack.

25 Jan 2012 23:22:09
Bellamy is absolutely awesome. What passion and drive he has. A great performance by him yet again and the signing of the season without question.

25 Jan 2012 23:14:52
Great Performance !!!

Amazing how a bit of pace and desire can influence a football match

KK vs Mancini and his millions - would take Kk every time

Henderson's work rate was faultless but he needs confidence to put his Mark on a game

Leam Red {Ed016's Note - Went out and didnt give them a second on the ball, closed down hard and fast, cut out their attempts at the wings forced them into the center and still dominated them, Silva was almost a passenger. Their defence was shocking, should have been more goals, but the result is fantastic!}

I mentioned on another post when kk was getting slack for the draws - that the first step is to make Anfield a fortress - city came her and did not fancy it
I know it was another draw but it was another game where we dominated and the opposing keeper was man of the match

United won't be looking forward to Saturday

25 Jan 2012 23:09:18
Hate kicking a man when he is down and I have said on here in the past that I think Andy Carroll is a good player but tonight just proves that he doesn't fit into the system. We are a far better team with him not playing. As I said I'm not saying he is a bad player or worrying about the price tag just that we are alot more fluid and better moving without him up front.

Gazza {Ed016's Note - Are ya having a laugh? seriously, the lad plays 2 minutes when the other side is going full out attack and we have all 10 men behind the ball. reavaluate come back and try again}

He didnt celebrate with the team after wards and walked straight down the tunnel!
fagan81

I'm not on about Carrolls performance tonight. I realise that he was only on for a short time. I'm on about the way we played without him in the team. So read the post carefully before telling me to reavaluate.

Gazza

He might have only been on a couple of minutes, but there were two occasions where he could and should have close the defender down,but chose to dawdle and watch the City CB stroll out of defence. If you can't be arsed putting it about for a few minutes then you shouldn't get anywhere near wearing the hallowed shirt.

It must be almost an insult to the player to get 2 mins in a game and this isnt the first time either i can see why he wasnt all that overjoyed

25 Jan 2012 23:07:52
Is it me or is Jamie Redknapp getting to be as annoying as his Dad Harry the ode cock sparrow cockney wide boy no vat Redknapp? {Ed016's Note - Both total knobs}

Cheers for the confirmation!!

got to say ed016 don't see you here to often but you should be love the enthusiasm. top bloke haha true fan. no disrespect to ed001 or ed002 also top guys :) so happy well done reds!

Danny {Ed016's Note - I just love the club, it is what the Liverpool way is, we could do with the positivity so pass it a long}

Extreme proud after tonight, wonderful overall team performance.

Just thought I'd praise two individuals who are constantly berated on here. The first is Charlie Adam. For the first time since Lucas got injured, I saw a calm intelligent hard working pass master. He moved smartly on the pitch, used his range of passing effectively and shot to good effect with both feet. Charlie can become a great player for us, it'll take time but he'll get there.

The second player is Downing. He showed much more fight and spirit than I've seen all season. That made him look such a stronger player on the pitch, with some desire to run at people and use his pace and balance effectively. Yes he was brought to supply crosses, but personally I think he's more than that. He's a smart player, who can pass well, link play and provide assists. I think with Carroll and his lack of movement it's made Downing look poor by always looking for a speculative cross or difficult through ball. But once Suarez is back you'll see more of Downing as he'll have some space to operate.

I could go on and on with Henderson etc but that's enough for now. Wembly here we come.

Papa G

I agree Downing played well tonight,but to blame Carroll for Downing's poor showing so far this season is a piss take.AAnd to say he'll come good consistently when Suardz comes back is also a joke. News flash,Suarez and Downing have played enough times together with no assists to him or any one else. Hopefully this will give him the confidenc to push on.
Jonson

Adam is a decent player, although I doubt he'll ever be a "great". We need to realise his strengths and his weaknesses; he'll never be a box to box player, so we must make allowances for that. But that ball/cross that Kuyt nearly got on the end of in the first half, showed his vision and ability.
Downing too, has many good points but I just wish he had some of Bellamy's confidence and spirit. He looks short of confidence at the moment, that's all.
Rigsby.

To all those that were calling for Kennys head after the Bolton debacle.........put that in your pipes and smoke it! I bet every one of u were cheering and are delighted were going back to Wembley! This is the start of Kennys rebuilding process not the end and already after a year in charge he's got us to a final! Rome wasn't built in a day! There will be bad results, its part of football, but give the right man the support and resources he needs and he'll make us great again! Hang your heads in shame at not supporting King Kenny!

Scarface {Ed016's Note - Everyone is quoting my "Rome wasn't built in a day" That I have been preaching since the start of the season}

well done lads

25 Jan 2012 22:43:00
Well done reds, I would like to say well done to dirk kuyt, Bellamy will get the plaudits but kuyt was immense. I'd also like to point out that while we gave done well to reach the cup final - it still doesn't gloss over our league position. I will be berated for this but the carling cup wasn't the best I was hoping for this year. It's a shame we couldn't show that much commitment against Bolton, but a fantastic win all the same.

Gazman

Unless ive been in a deep deep sleep, then the seasons far from over yet, why cant people like you enjoy the moment and have faith for the rest of the season..

Now i hope everybody understands Kenny's frustration, he watches the players every day and sees their potential, if only they could put in the effort like tonight every game we would be challenging. Dalglish will eventually get it right so everyone be patient, I am old enough to remember the glory days of Liverpool and it was always down to hard work and commitment, and now finally we again have a manager in Dalglish who is instilling this into the team.

Be patient and loyal and Dalglish will lead us once more into the glory days.

You better save some money as its going to be expensive going to all these finals

25 Jan 2012 22:45:24
I'm hoping to get a ticket for the final now, got two league cup games on my fan card also.

Only reason im hoping because i've grew up with stories from dad and grandad of 'Anfield South' and how we went there and beat everyone. Now i get my first chance to go there with my dad and watch get us hopefully lift another trophy

25 Jan 2012 22:34:55
Sometimes i say bad things when im hurt especially the bolton match and all the home draws,i take back the kenny out comments i made, after looking at the tears and emotion on his face when we got to the final tonight was amazing,he loves liverpool more than anyone and deserves respect,sorry kenny and eds.....irish kopitie {Ed016's Note - Learn your lesson! I told you all you would be lining up to kiss his boots after tonight. Maybe you should listen a bit more to real dedicated fans, we're not stupid, we just make our own opinions and ignore the mass idiocy. Makes it even more satisfying when you get a win, had some bloke at the pub whining about hendo all game but he was working harder than I have ever seen, some times you can not win but glad you saw the light.....}

I agree ed,i love lfc so much and we all say things we regret in the heat of the moment,really excitied about wembly and bring on scam on sat...irish kopitie

FAIR PLAY to Irish Kopite. . .nuff said

If we dont get any players we have just proved that we can compete. Come on Liverpool players wear your heart or get lost

25 Jan 2012 22:32:19
Absolutely delighted.

I'm guessing the 'dalglish brigade' has a lot more followers now?

Stu. {Ed016's Note - Of course......But it feels better when you are the one who supported before, adds a certain smugness to the win also. I am feeling good today.}

Definitely ED.

You only have to see the tears in his eyes to see how much the club means to him.

I'll admit, I love kenny!

Stu.

25 Jan 2012 22:32:15
So which ed said Senegal for the African nations cup, its not looking good, come on hold your hand up {Ed016's Note - It was me, Thats why I watch footy on the TV instead of on a bench like most of the make believe fifa managers on this site otherwise, I would have a statue outside of Anfield}

To be fair, that was a decent shout b4 it started. Zambia have been a breath of fresh air. I'm also developing a soft spot for Botswana after their performance vs Ghana.

25 Jan 2012 22:31:45
1. Woo hoo .... Wem ber lee!

2. How good is Joe Hart - great player.

3. Will Kuyt finally win a medal for LFC - as this might be his last season. Good on ya dirk.

4. Praying to whateva Gods that will listen that Bellamy's knees hold up for Sat. Signing of season.

5. I hope we treat Cardiff as a serious threat - as I wasn't surprised we raised our game against Man City as we always do against the top sides. Its when we are not the underdog that we struggle.

6. Why do ppl post to slag off a team whilst match is on. Watch match and support your team and if u need to vent do it at final whistle. I'd have loved to hear u posters at halftime for Istanbul 05.

7. Steven Gerrard may play against his cousin. Sparks will fly.

8. Bigger picture - if we got 4th and a trophy it wud b an excellent season. Even if we did not get 4th it would not be a disaster but a setback. I think a lot of negativity is that we know we should have done much better in the league with all our home draws and be sitting in 4th now.

9. Kenny is a legend and still right man for job but the next signings ( prob in Summer) will be crucial.

10. YNWA

Samir Nasri £23 Million, David Silva £24 Million, Mario Balotelli £24 Million, Edin Dzeko £27 Million, Sergio Aguero £35 Million ..... Craig Bellamy ... PRICELESS

And people are slating caroll and downing look at the amount of rubbish players city spent so much on

Brilliant little post, just goes to show big money signings dont always buy success (it helps) great result tonight, played as a solid TEAM, looks like the LEGEND that is KENNY DAGLISH gave the boys a talkin to after weekend, im so so made up for him, 12months back an WEMBLY here we come, ps lets have the same performance this weekend.

RED4lifeNOTjust4XMAS {Ed016's Note - to doubting fans, do you want what Chelsea have recieved the past 6 years or what we have? all things considered our future is a fair amount brighter than most of the top clubs.}

Brilliant!!

I'd rather spend £123 million on those players, than £55 million on your two. How on earth Andy Carroll and Sergio Aguero can be worth the same is beyond me...

#ags 19

Ags i think ur missing the point mate..now scurry back to ur hole and give dad back his laptop and hell give ya back ur crayons..

Ags 19

You sir are a fool,
Do you not relise the mechanics of a transfer deal. You also have to pay wages. Carroll is on subsatially less than Aguero, and whilst yes I agree with you Aguero is better than Carroll, and Carrolls price was inflated, so, in the long run we get a better deal. Carrolls a quality player and we dont have to fork out megabucks in wages for him every year.

J-Red

(P.S. Eds, what about a page for all those that want to slag off Carroll, It would save me a lot of time wading through the plethora of tossers that post on here. Get A Life!)

Got to say loved kenny's interview after the game if man city have any more players like bellamy there giving away we,l take them nothing like rubbing a bit of salt in the wound lol absolutely chuffed to pieces with tonight even if iv got no nails left and none of the kids will get up for school cos iv kept them all awake shouting and bawling absolutely fantastic another win on saturday and be made up for time. Giblet

I'm guessing he's not after Johnson then, having a dig like that wouldn't help if he was.

25 Jan 2012 22:35:54
Feel for Lucas. Please Kenny give him a place on the subs bench. He can then get a medal

Will he want a runners up medal? Well I guess he's grateful for anything as Liverpool don't win much these days.

Won't he get a medal anyway just for having been part of the campaign?

Granero playing again tonight. Doesn't look all that hot to be honest, not that 15 mins of play against Barcelona is a fair judgement. Still, the lad doesn't look like a Liverpool player. Plays a little like Aquilani, and we already know Kenny didn't like that lad.

Granero is nothing like Aquilani mate. Granero is a tough tackling DM, I think it's safe to say Aquilani, is not. But if you had been watching Granero for more than 15 mins, you would've known that.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Fool. The player wanted to go.

Blair I wouldn't call Granero a defensive mid. He likes to get forward from what I've seen of him.

Maybe if he played for more than 15 mins once in a while...

To all the king haters where u now! I posted saying we wud beat city and united. Get behind the lads one down one to go !

25 Jan 2012 22:30:04
I am overjoyed tonight what a performance. If it wasnt for Hart who was outstanding it would of been more.

I believe that will start to shut a few people up who all they do is slag the club off. What an achievement by Kenny just 12 months in charge and we are going to wembley. Bellamy was man of the match but the whole team played well. I also thought charlie adam was immense tonight.

Were on the march with kennys army.

Agreed well done lads! so happy :)

25 Jan 2012 22:27:40
Excellent victory. Carling Cup, but lets not down play it. City played with their best available and lost the tie. Well done lads. Adam made me a nervous wreck most of the game though...he needs to play CAM, not hold. No defensive ability! Almost gave away a penalty on Dzeko.
Bellamy was unbelievable. He is in top form, and we can only hope Suarez returns in top form. {Ed016's Note - Adam played really well, one clumsy tackle but played really well IMO}

Adam put in a shift, but he is too reckless for me. I know i will get slagged off for it but i just think he is far too slow and a liability at times. {Ed016's Note - Some times, but he will learn, Lucas used to be the same I was scared some times with his reckless tackles from behind, but Adam was brilliant for me today just wish they could always put in work like that, it pays off clearly, without one of our star players we beat the most expensive and therefore the most stacked club in the world, get in.}

Excellent point Ed016. If Adam can learn to cut reckless tackles out of his game then he would be more appreciated.

Its amazing what we can do/play like when we go with the little bit of pace we have in the team, surely the owners(was in the stands) and Kenny can see we lack and need to buy pacey players.

LIVERPOOL

Attempts on target 13

Attempts off target 3

Corners 12

Speaks for itself, just hope we can continue playing that level of football, if we do there's no reason why we can't finish 4th.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE POST THIS EDS

I am a new poster on this site but I have followed all rumours/banter since years...I was so disappointed with our performance against Bolton, I had to post in order to get my frustration out...lol...

But tonight I realised what being a true LIVERPOOL fan means...I had criticized Kenny, his signings and tactics this season but after this performance I've got to hand it to him... Everyone played their hearts out...
Henderson, Adam, Enrique, Downing all were good...

Johnson and Kuyt have been subject to much criticism this season but they too did a very good job... Kuyt as usual worked his socks off and Johnson may not be the best defensively but he did very well with the assist for our second goal...

And lastly, well done Captain Fantastic, another inspirational performance and Bellamy I think is a legend...No questions at all about their commitment to our beloved club....

I hope everyone now realises how important it is to play for the shirt and give it all without thinking about the result....
For the weekend...hopefully Kenny will have the lads fired up again for the Scum..So let's get them Reds....

and for now...

We're going to WEMBLEYYYYYYY : )))))

great performance, Wembley here we come. Pleased for Kenny after all the stick he has taken over the last month.

Kuyt and Bellamy excellent up front. Henderson's best game for me in red shirt. How much better the team plays without Carroll. Same forward line against the United please.

I can't believe the grief Macca gets !!!

At a time when footballers and fans appear to live on different planets, he takes the time to pass on information to us, he doesn't need to waste use his time communicating with us, plus he risks losing the trust of his source of information (probably Carra).

Football deals fall though all the time for numerous reasons. Anyway I don't care if he makes it up !

Compare what he has done for Liverpool FC with what you have contributed !

Thank you Macca, you were and always will be a Legend !

We r here u getting so excited over a mickey mouse cup that's how desperate our team has become to win silverware, i once remember when rafa was the man we wouldn't worry about these mickey mouse cups because we were in the big boys comp the champs league, by the way no kompany and no toure best players for city all year, if we don't finish top 4 Kenny has failed weather u like it or not, especially with the money that he spent, the way u guys r carrying on its like we've won the title, which us very sad

Gotta start somewhere you miserable b**tard.

Agree, I think were sick of seeing each other lol. City always get dominated, Hart almost always bails them out. I hope we only have to play them twice next season

25 Jan 2012 21:58:04
The ball hit his both hand and still say its not a penalty come on open the rules book and see that say take up your hand over the waist high its a penalty. now some say its deflect his leg. OK accept but its nothing to do with rules. its touch in hand twice so what you guys think Referee going to do? even macmanaman also say like owen that's not a penalty. don't know why.

R-R {Ed001's Note - the rules state that a handball has to be deliberate.}

Ed i thought they also took positioning of arms into account for intent? {Ed001's Note - no, that is just nonsense from the media. The lawbook says nothing about that, all it says is that there needs to be intent to handle it.}

I would argue that the reason a player throws his hands out in the direction that Richards did when he was attempting to block the shot is so that his arms can also block the shot, therefore deliberate {Ed001's Note - that is what the ref has to decide and he agreed with you.}

The rules state were going to wembley

Please go in your back garden try and stretch as if blocking a shot with your arms behind your back you can't so stop talking b##locks except the referee was wrong you got away with it just stop trying to justify a bad decision

Please lets remember there are no rules of football,there are laws of football.

Derek {Ed016's Note - Its more of an interpretation}

The rules state 'swings and roundabouts'

Myk

To be fair it was clearly unintentional hand ball if that had been given against one of our players we would all be on here slaying the ref however its about time we had a bit of luck and we were by far the best team
ted {Ed016's Note - Oh well gutted for them.....}

Quote..."The rules state were going to wembley"

That is the best post I have ever read on this site. My hat is off to you sir.

Ed001,
It also states that if you gain an unfair advantage from handling the ball, its a handball. It seems to me that it was an unfair advantage.

Having said that it doesn't really matter, because we're going to the final.

J-Red

The other outcome would been jus as good, if he didnt raise his hands up to protect his face, the ball would have smashed him in the face and knocked him out, thats always good tv, whatever sport

we definately played well tonight, well done liverpool and kenny. Its amazing how much we look like a team without andy carroll, i really feel he doesn't suit us and we don't suit him, im sure he can make it as a good player with a team that suits him but from watchin bellamy there, its pretty obvious if we have another top pacey striker up top, we will be quite a force.RedTurk

Just think of all those crosses and corners we won to citys 2,wheres ac when we could do with him,he would have had a hatrick tonight,

Fantastic performance tonight it shows Liverpool play better without Carroll cos they pass and move instead of having to play to Carroll's strength. The team is more comfortable this way! Ed01 could I get your opinion on the game?
Secret Liverpool Fan {Ed001's Note - great team performance, in particular Bellamy was unplayable tonight, he kept their entire back line under pressure constantly. Also have to say Gerrard was excellent, he made sure to stay defensively alert and his positioning was superb. Very rarely did Silva get a second to create, while Stevie G was able to get on the ball and provide. We deserved to win the match, even though the pen was dubious.}

Have to say great performance, we could have scored more if it wasnt cause of hart. Only concern if our lack of chances created from the corners we had. wasted all of them

John

Carroll Is getting better, if nothing else he draws defenders

Fu#king disgraceful! Another draw at home. This cant go on ed. Anfield used to be a fortress. I mean how can we not beat a team assembled for £200 million with 9 men because Adam & Downing didnt do anything. Also that big goat Andy Carroll did nothing when he came on. Might as well have played with 8! Henderson? dont get me started on him, running around there like a fu#king lunatic. 7 players we beat that Citeh team with. Unbelievable.

I've stopped coming on this site recently with all the negativity I come on tonight thinking everybodys gonna be happy and lo and behold more negativity...We deserved the win and a few bad results you want the management out. He's building for our future and doing an exceptional job we outplayed city tonight all over the park and with a few more players were gonna be a formidable side.Kenny knows what hes doing and he cried at the final whistle the man bleeds liverpool and he deserves more respect than any of you fairweather fans could dream of giving. We are liverpool and true fans are 110 percent liverpool win lose or draw you negative moaners need to follow torres and go support a plastic club...From a relagation battle 12 months ago to sat nicely in the league a cup final and another cup game against the mancs this weekend, see how many negative fans come on here if we win both cups and finish top 4 maybe then you will Give the King the respect he deserves.

You don't know how lucky you are in England. In New Zealand, we get the games between 1 Am - 8.30 Am. Not to mention the fact you can go to Anfield. Still, getting up is justified when we get a result like this.

Yay! Bellemy!

That would work for me, I'm on nights and have to turn up late every time the pool play midweek games

25 Jan 2012 21:51:41
I believe now's the time to stop berating Kenny and the players,Downing and Adam in particular and get behind the team. Transfer rumours aside,the existing management and players have equaled and bettered arguably the strongest outfit in England on three occasions of late and with the addition of our own youngsters will soon be realistic title contenders.Roll on the weekend !!Brendan

Agreed. Having a go at Downing is just highlighting your own ignorance. Yes there's more to come but the lad is quality.

25 Jan 2012 21:51:20
Great win, great to see Hansen, Rushy and Tommo supporting the boys and Kenny. You can see how much that meant to him at the end, and how much he loves our club. We are so lucky to have him back, top top bloke.
Anyone who has posted to oust him should look at the emotion the man showed at the final whistle and think is there any other manager who would care as much and lift this club as he has done? No!

Joe Hart was MOTM, but Craig Bellamy was a close second. I don't think there was a blade of grass at Anfield that he didn't touch, he was everywhere; kept the City backline on their toes, and pressured them all night. Outstanding!

Another bloody home draw!

...obviously a joke! Fair play to each of those players. Absolutely brilliant! Man of the match is easy though, Craig Bellamy, a man who loves the shirt.

Muahaha, I said the same to me uncle!

Great result and response after the humiliation @ Bolton!

Well done Kenny!

Truth is it's s 2-2 draw at home with City's 2nd string - hardly breathtaking but if it keeps the plebs happy then roll on the yellow bus with flavoured glass

Did you watch the match?
2nd string?
WTF have you ever been happy in your entire life?
We got through to the final FFS
I hope you have a good time slitting your wrists you emo

Awww poor lad did you get knocked out by the big, mean Crystal Palace. There, there.

City's second string my *@#!, they are only missing toure and kompany, also we are without suarez, so are you saying city only have only one good player more than us then?

Were going to wembley

Lock yourself in a room and take a good long hard look at yourself! tit head. You're obviously not a liverpool fan!!

Wembleyyy wembleyyyy!!!!

If Silva, richards, barry, nasri, dzeko, aguero, johnson, hart and the likes of de jong is citys second string i'd love to see their frickin 1st team, must be better that barcelona!!!!!! get a life u miserable tw@t! Come on redmen!

25 Jan 2012 21:18:00
Thats why we will never win...ball goes into the box n we have only three attackers in there (which is good for us) and they have 9 players back there. We simply dont score enough because we dont get enough bodies in the box.... Not players fault..its tactical....
As I type this bellamy just scored u beauty but reality is that,is our,problem

With the number of chances wasted tonight, if we lose, and we still don't end up buying a striker, then I think it's safe to say that the management at lfc don't know what they are doing!

Hey Ed002! Don't shoot the messenger, but I heard Liverpool want to sign you!

Daglish is interested in your sharp, direct no-messing around nature and hopes your accuracy is as sharp as your wit. He also wants you to distract the opposition with your female "intuition".

What are the chances out of 10?

25 Jan 2012 20:47:17
Awesome half! 'Pool put in a shift. Their goal.. just our luck! But our work rate is top notch, makes me wonder why we cant perform like this at every game. Kuyt for me looks a little behind at the minute, but the guy can be clinical with all these shots rebounding anywhere..he could just find himself in the right place.

Good the team has maybe also warned Carroll that when Kenny points a finger at you - you listen and give it your all!

Adam's played some great passes, and downing is getting better as the game goes on...

Carroll to come off the bench and score!

= Good game!

Tiz YNWA =D

Carrol couldnt score in a brothel... Keep him on the bench we need players that can move run n keep the ball moving

ACHILLES.

Is it lonely where you are Achilles?

No mate why you ask?entitled to my opinion
henderson:
1.cant tackle
2.cant head
3.sloppy on the ball
To be a midfielder you need them qualities, He might be good in a few years but for me shelvey is the one who show quality at the min.

ACHILLES.

Did you change your mind by the end of the match? Or did your total prejudice against him cloud sensible judgement?

downing hasnt been to bad today, linking up with bellamy and enrique quite nicely, looking good down the left, on the right johnson strong and effective. pretty soft pen but still a pen.

gonna have to ride this one out till the 90 mins is over, definately need another goal.. especially with aguero and probably johnson coming on..

and how dodge is savic.. ha looks like a fish out of water against bellers!

Been saying for ages very overated , he's good but there is much better in the premier

2 joe harts would have conceded that, get a grip, t*sser, why do people just come on here to pick fault, prob the best 45mins ive seen from them this season, Adam looks ok, & downing, bowt time u freaks started supporting your team instead of constantly looking for faults in everything they do!!

That ball started outside the post, and then curled back in. De Jong had time and space, and hit a nice shot. How is that on Pepe?

25 Jan 2012 20:18:15
Charlie Adam is so bad just lost us that goal by giving the ball away carelessly for about the 6th time already, absolutely woeful

Yeah he gave the ball away but look how he has played besides that. His passing has been spot on and his attacking threat has been great. He isn't a defensive mid but is being used as one. He's more of an attacking mid but we have to use him there with no Lucas

Red Rat

You kidding? He almost delivered the pass of the season and started the play that won the penalty.

I thought he was having one of his better games. Not that that's saying much as he has been dire recently.

I'm not getting my hopes up, their team looks superior and i dont think we'll get as lucky as we did last time with the penalty. But the players need to get at them from the off, put a good amount of pressure on savic and go for a win, if we sit back they will punish us as they'll be determined to recover from the first leg.

so whos gona cover infront of the back 4 especally with silva and nasri floating in those areas? whos gona do it cos i fear adam tackles like scholes and always gives free kicks away!

Agree and Gerrard & Henderson cant play the CDM, if we can get the crowd behind us and get an early goal i think we can go and and win, hope Bellamy gets at Savic unlike Carroll did, also with Cty needing a to attack us i think we mite be able to counter attack with Bellamy and Downings pace.

Well you cant ask for a stronger line up than that, lets see how some of the players react to Kenny dropping some home truths on them after Saturdays performance.

And if the result doesn't go our way tonight for whatever reason, before you decide to post having a hissy fit just think for a minute how far the club got in this competition last year.

Here's hoping Bellamy shows Mancini what a huge mistake he made letting him go.

I dont know about aurelios fitness but i believe he woild be key in my line up. He can cross a ball in over Savic all day, creating havoc for the young lad and also help enrque shackle their right attack. Any thoughts ed?

25 Jan 2012 18:30:35
Ok, if Carroll is going to start then i would love to see Gerrard playing right up with him. Henderson & Adam holding if Spearing isnt fit, which i assume he wont be. Downing & Kuyt on the flanks. Im also guessing that Bellamy & Maxi wont be able to play 2 matches so close together, as well as a big game coming up on Saturday. When you look at it our squad is still pretty thin with only Lucas & Suarez to come back. We could really do with a few extra bodies. Ah well, at least we have Carra, Kelly & Coates to fall back on.

The Irish Rover

IMO i would only choose to fall back on kelly and coates...Sadly Carra is far to slow and will end up giving away penalties left right and centre

5. At the bottom right (as you look at it) you will see 'Get More Extensions >>'. Select this.

6. In the search box type 'Chrome Live Football' and search.

7. Click on Chrome Live Football and then click on install. (it may download to a holding file in the bottom left as you look at it, in which case as soon as it's finished click there, but mostly it will install itself)

8. A small football will then appear in the top right (as you look at it). Click on that, select 'live stream' and reset the clock to GMT and it will list all the live games available all over europe and other places.

You may occasionally need to install other programmes or the link you pick will only work on Explorer (in which case cut and paste the URL into Explorer), but you will always get every EPL match (or any other). Sometimes you will only be able to find it with foreign commentary and sometimes you will get it in English. You'll get about thirty links and you may have to look through a lot of them to get what you want. You will also get most La Liga matches, Greek matches, Italian matches and French matches as well as top matches from South America.

Someone also asked about viruses etc. Google Chrome is actually far more secure than Internet Explorer so the risks are considerably less, but you should have decent virus/spyware programmes and run sweeps regularly as a matter of course.

The quality will also depend on the speed of your internet connection. If you have super-speed and have a modern HD TV, consider connecting your PC to the TV via the PC socket on the side/ back.

Cut and paste the above into a document and save it for future reference.

Cannot wait for the game tonight! Hopefully the players deliver. As long as they put 110% into it, I dont care about the result. I they show passion for the club, and genuinely get out played fair enough.

Get behind the lads tonight please, City will come out firing (hopefully not thought)

I've had You'll Never Walk Alone playing on my ipod all day and I am extremely ready for this game. Everyone has been talking poorly of our summer signings but when we had games like City at home or Chelsea 2 or 3 times within 2 weeks everyone loved Adam and how he was playing. Liverpool is a team and yes individual can have bad days but you either win as a team or lose as a team. Everyone plays a part so lets just get behind our Legendary team and support them for the big game tonight.

liverpool will not sign anyone in this transfer window as dalglish said when it opened

Honest question to Macca if the Inter player who we tried to sign is now off can you please name the player just out of interest. Ok if not now at least at the end of the window, because there will be no ill effects now that the deal is off

I hate to say this but a lot of you so called fans have turned into a bunch winging b*st*rds who dont deserve to call themselves liverpool supporters - because you dont seem to be supporting liverpool!

i used to love coming on this page, now all I see is "Kenny Out", "kenny should be sacked".... are you all forgetting its taken redknapp 2 seasons to get where he is with tottenham, man city 3 times as much money and 2 seasons to break the top 4! I for one would rather a manager who loved the club like kenny than some mercenary like mourinho who goes to the highest bidder.

We used to be the fans who sang our loudest when we were down, and when reading some of things written by some of you so called fans, i feel ashamed to be a associated in the same breath as you.... i'm disgusted.

I just hope that the true fans, who's blood is red for a reason scream and sing louder than the embarrassments poisoning our club with so much negativity!!

You'll never walk alone used to stand for something!!

Its taken redknapp longer than 2 years

Chelsea have failed with a £29m move for rising Brazil star Lucas - with the Sao Paulo man set to stay at his club this month.

Lucas is coveted by Europe's biggest clubs and he is expected to move to a top league sooner rather than later.

At just 19, Lucas - full name Lucas Rodrigues Moura da Silva - already has 10 caps for his country and Sao Paulo face a fight to keep hold of him.

The Brazilian club, mindful of the growing interest in Lucas, has placed an astonishing £66m price-tag on Lucas.

They don't expect to receive that fee but hope it will help drive up the price - although it seems not even £29m is enough to land him.

Lucas' agent Wagner Ribeiro says Chelsea have failed with the mammoth bid and insists the player is staying put for now.

Ribeiro said: "The club's clause is £60m and this greatly influence the offers they receive.

"They do not want to sell and they rejected an offer from Chelsea for £29m. The player has no desire to leave the club at present. Lucas has no preference for any league at the moment."

--------------------

We defiantly defiantly wont be getting him at all ...

Durham on Talks**te is off again on his anti Liverpool FC anti Dalglish agenda by twisting comments made by Gerrard. He is just making things up. Dare I say he is lying. {Ed002's Note - Why not just turn the radio off?}

I was listening too. The guy is a first class prat. I switched it off. If only we were in a position as Liverpool fans to get him the sack. The guy really is a moron. Maybe some chanting at the ground about him might make the press and embaress him.

Eds and Everyone,

How would you solve the defensive midfield dilemma tonight?
something tried n tested
or something new and experimental

Got to go 4-4-2 for me
==============Reina===============

Kelly=====Skrtel=====Agger=====Enrique

Johnson==Gerrard====Shelvey==Downing

==========Bellamy==Carroll========== {Ed016's Note - Johnson won't play on the wing seeing as we play with wingbacks....}

I have to agree with Kelly / Johnson on the right. Johnson is a weakness playing RB/RWB.

We need to play with solid back 4 but with the ability to create chances.

Bellamy's knees aren't up to it. I'd play Sterling...The Carling Cup is where teams give youngsters first team experience. Perhaps not usually in the Semi Final 2nd leg but he can't do worse than our current options!

Reina
Johnson-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique
Gerrard
Kuyt-Henderson-Adam-Downing
Carroll

I'd like to see Johnson and Kuyt together on the wing again, can't remember when they last played together there, and they complement each other's styles. Gerrard is really the only option for defensive mid, the others are too young or inexperienced in that position and Gerrard can sit back and link defence and midfield

Red Ollie

We've only played with wingbacks once & it didn't really work. How are you confident that we will do the same tonight?

The Irish Rover

My experimental would be to play Kelly as DM infront of the two centerbacks.

===========Reina===========
=======Skirtle=====Agger======
Johnson=======Kelly======Enrique
Gerrard=Henderson==Adam==Downing
=========Carroll/Bellamy=======

Can switch Bellamy for downing but essentially playing 4-5-1

Alot of speculation on a number of foriegn transfers. What makes people think we are going to sign unproven foriegn players. Nothing in the last two transfer windows have suggested an overflow of overseas players apart from Suarez and Coates. The majority of signings will be britished based. FACT

Would love to see Gerrard play on the right tonight or in the hole , think Rafa was right about him, we suffer when he plays centre midfield.... Eds What was the post here a while back concerning our win % when Stevie plays there think it was leaked by some chauffeur or something..?

Gerrard was great on the right wing he played some of his best football there. IMO he was much better than DB!

I am utterly fed up of those unhappy with the team/ Dalglish. Get a grip, we're twice the team we were last year, we're heading towards trophies, we've only had a few bad results due to lacking luck/ that final touch, well guess what; it'll come in time. The more opportunity you create in anything, the better the odds for success. 100% behind the team, the manager, the owners.

Here's hoping the twelfth man does their job tonight. Everyone, get behind the team, our time is coming. If you're unwilling to do so, look for another team to 'support' - this year it'll be at least one trophy and possibly a champions league return. Next year, the league. I have faith in KK and LFC, so should you.

HodgsonOut

You couldnt script this, Scousers still saying "NEXT YEAR" - aren't you bored of this unwarranted, continuous optimism that has been plaguing your club since about 2002??!!

Come Sunday, your season will be over - out of both cups at the hands of Manchester teams and no doubt callin for the head of your saviour, King Kenny!

History repeats itself!

You should be more concerned about your year next year than ours. You're going to be playing for 3rd next season. Man City and Spurs have a better squads. The only reason that you are not 3rd now is that Spurs are just about reaching their potential now.

That's Yawn to RedSKY not HodgsonOUT

If we get knocked out tonight against City and knocked out against United the weekend the i think Kenny will be sacked, With the amount of money he has spent it is simply not good enough, If it was anyone else in charge then we would be asking for him to be sacked, Kenny is just living of his name in the past as a legend, He cant cut it these days, Too old, His tactics, Signings, Interviews, Public backing of suarez proove that (im talking about the t-shirt) Bring back Rafa. Sell off the dead wood.

Disgruntled.

Go and be Disgrruntled on the United page we don't want the negativity here!!

You are cheerful aren't you.

Please just shut up with the Kenny out bull. Improved massively since the last seasons with Rafa and Woy. We've been playing good football for most of the season and Kenny deserves more respect. Just watched 'Most wanted: Kenny' on LFCTV, if you still think he is the wrong man after watching that, then you are a fool.

KingHeskey

Couple more months and you'll be able to celebrate 7 years of being a gobsh*te bandwagon fan. Good luck with your Istanbul themed party.

Your are a positive thinker are nt you

First of all I will like win both, anything can happen in football. if lost both also I want Kenny sty until end of the season. and not Rafa I will like to see Joachim Löw of Germany as a manager in Liverpool.

R-R

I can't believe you call yourself a fan with a comment like that. Pity we can't "sack" a few of our so called supporters! Success doesn't come overnight! Perhaps you better go and "support" chelski or citeh and then do a runner when their money runs out.
Nothing in life that's worth it comes without hard work and a few ups and downs. Glad I'm not married to you.....one sniff of trouble and you'd probably dump me and move on to the next one! Try not to play Fifa 12 so much and get a taste of reality...it's much more satisfying in the end,even if it's not instant!
KJS

Why is everyone giving the original poster so much stick? If you look at what he's saying then he's right, If KK wasnt in charge and we had these results with someone else then we would be running a muc. The results have not being good enough, You are all fools just blinded by KK status at anfield, Hes a failure, We need someone knew in and to get rid of the kenny signings, they are all brutal, carroll, adam, henderson and downing are a joke.

We are in the semi final of a cup tonight....not so bad eh? I take it you won't be going to Wembley if we get there seeing as the teams such a disappointment!
KJS

Okay, I'll take the bait;

Rafa's first season: Played 38 Points 58 average points per game: 1.52

Kenny first full season: Played 22 Points 35 average points per game 1.59

Rafa also lost the final of the Carling Cup and got knocked out of the FA Cup in the 3rd round.

Therefore at this point in the season, just on that basis, Kenny is better than Rafa and should be allowed to continue to progress our team forward with dignity and respect without nobheads calling for his head every five minutes.

Now shut the fu*k up. You know nothing.

Sean.

So many people on here blinded by Kenny's past, The club is going backwards, You cant honestly say you are happy with not qualifyimg for the champions league last season? Are u happy with kennys signings? adam, carroll, henderson, coates, downing ? What a waste of money, No chance of champions league this season, Gerrard is past it, suarez will go to madrid because he wont be able to handle the stick from away fans of the racial comments made towards evra, he allready gave opposing fans the finger and got a 1 game ban for that, kuyt is coming to the end of his career. We be lucky to get 7th this season, Get KD out now and bring in Klinsman or bring back rafa.

Short memory! Didn't we fail to get into CL with Rafa and last season was Woys fault!

25 Jan 2012 15:14:55
I've never known a transfer window to be so quiet for all Premier League clubs, whats going on? {Ed002's Note - It will perk up a little in the next few days.}

25 Jan 2012 15:07:28
I have to say I think the bet of the day has to be City at 5/2 to win the cup outright.
£50 on that and if we win tonight you won't care if you've lost it and if we lose tonight you've got 5/2 on city to beat Cardiff!

Won't care? Do you want to trade a cup final place for a possible £125?

What hes trying to say is, even if city win he will still make some money so wont be as bad fo him

Liverpool win 1-0 is 7/1
Barca win 8/13
Carroll scores 22/1

A fiver get you 1400 quid.

The "won't care" was referring to not caring that you've lost £50 because we've won.
Jesus, some people need bloody pictures! {Ed016's Note - Yeah I did that for Bolton game believe it or not put down a tenner on Bolton to win, for the simple fact if Liverpool won I wouldn't care about losing a tenner and if bolton won I could afford the beer to make me feel better, might do the saem today}

Ok..I accept I misread! No need to be rude about it! ;-)

I occasionally back the other team when we go one up. Last season with Hodgson losing a 1 goal advantage was a regular event. If we end up losing it's a bit of beer money.

25 Jan 2012 14:53:08
I must be honest, I do chuckle with all the transfer rumours.
Many of the folks who post truly believe what they have been told, overheard at the local, or received so-called 'insider' information, not to mention the other interesting sources. If all were true, we would have squad of 50 or 60 players. I prefer to take the cautious approach and wait for confirmation, and take the rest with a pinch of salt.
It seems everyone knows someone, who knows something from some other person.
Its a hoot to read though!.
"UFO spotted over Anfield".

I travel the world seeking out UFO'S at what time did you spot it? How big was it? Did you get a look at the Pilot? (:-)

I cant believe some of the rubbish they actually believe. Lets face it we spent a fortune on Carroll and Suarez, both of whome were great at there previous clubs and allready people are saying were getting other strikers in. It just isn't going to happen.we may sign some youth but thats it, now live with it (6 days to go)

25 Jan 2012 14:37:08
We did very well in a couple of games last season with a 3|5|2, I'd suggest we need to play quite offensive and high up the pitch to stop City for at least the 1st 30 mins. A 3 man central defense could be key to this as city's main strength lie in playing through the middle.

I think Gerrard and Carroll could create a lot of goals between them if Gerrard plays just off the frontman as in the Torres days.

So this team for me tonight>>

Carra, Agger Škrtel | Bellamy Shelvey Hendo Downing | Gerrard | Kuyt & Carroll

I see Kuyt being used in the 'Johnson role' from the 1st leg ;-) anywhere on the pitch he likes basically... breaking up midfield play, nicking rebounds, anything as long as it doesn't involve much passing.

Bellamy as a right winger, I think he and Carra could create damage on the right, and he is reasonably good at providing defensive cover, a must for Carra.

Thoughts?

YNWA

Not sure about gerrard just behind the striker as it always leeds to him been piked up buy their cdm. When he played there with Torres he was class but did go missing when cdm did their job well

Big D

Bellamy 2 games in a short space of time ( dodgy knees) think bellars will be on the bench and only used if needed.
kidmillions

So Johnson and silva as well as Millner and even Aguero who can drift wide and your suggesting we play without any full backs????? when all we really have to do is not loose tonight.
RNred

OP here. I believe that a 5 man midfield should be able to contain any wide play - especially with Kuyt's tracking back and being a 6th man. It's an offensive containing move for the first 30 mins. Should offer good countering opportunities also.

Can bring on Enrique & Maxi for bellamy and Kuyt and slip to a 442 for the second half.

Hi All

Here is a weird one for you all.

CArdiff cannot play in Europe for England, so even who will the place go to should they win or get into the final with man city?

Dublad {Ed002's Note - They will be allowed to enter. This has come up before.}

The fact Cardiff is in Wales is irrelevant. They play in the English league and that's what counts

Wasnt always the case......

Dublad

Here's another weird one for you all.

Liverpool was once the capital of Wales.

BJH YNWA. {Ed001's Note - no, it used to be known as the unofficial capital of North Wales due to the large population of Welsh speakers. At one time something like 10% of the city was composed of North Walians, like my Great-Grandad and his family. They have even held the Eisteddfod there a few times, 3 if I remember correctly.}

Alrite fellow Reds!
I think that 4th place is still deffinately up for grabs. Yes we've dropped a few needless points this season with draws at home etc but haven't arsenal and chelsea been dropping points aswell?! Esspecially recently. We're only a few points behind and theres's 16/17 games left!! Even tottenham have started to trip up. There's still plenty to play for in the league in my opinion. Lets hope we get a good result tonight and enjoy a day at wembly and hopefully bring a cup home. Top 4 and the league cup would be huge progress for this season in my eyes! And there's still the F.A. cup to still play for. We've still got 51 points to play for in the league. Suarez coming back aswell. Come on you reds plenty to play for!!
Phil79 YNWA J4T96

Agreed. There is plenty to play for. As Souness said this season would be a case of 2 steps forward and the occasional one step back. To me everything is postive. After all we had 44 months where the whole foundations of the club destablelised and will take time to get back.

Everyone drop points but Liverpool dont ?

To "everyone drop points but liverpool dont" it clearly says that liverpool have dropped points aswell as arsenal and chelsea!! if liverpool can get a run of games together anything is possible. Phil79 is trying to be positive and still gets a negative response. Sick of all the negativity at the moment. Maybe we should bring back hicks, gillett and hodgson, konchesky, poulsen, jovanovic etc just for you guys and let the club go bankrupt and collapse and followed by relegation, because thats where we were 12 months ago! We need more posivitivity starting with a great atmosphere tonight to help the team get to a final at wembly and kick on and see what we can get out of this season because there is plenty to play for and a lot of football to be played yet!!

Hello eds and macca...
Just wondering if you know from your inside knowledge, what if any of our young lads are training with the first team?
I think coady is... also are any of them pushing for the bench? Suso good player for the wing....Adam morgan seems a natural finisher...can't we give 1 or 2 of these lads a go....??
Cheers... from blindsyde....

Wayne Harrison, Pogolle Sinoma, Anthony Le Tallec, Danny Pacheco failed. Let us hope Stirling and Suso are going to make it. Or what is the point of our academy. Very poor against Blackburn yesterday.

Liverpool needs qulaity playmaker and excellent crosser and cheap - DUSAN TADIC is the best , better than Hazard & Ericksen. Buy him with Texeira in a double deal.

Because Le Tallec and 'Pogolle' were definitely a product of the academy, both having been with the club since they were 13 right?

Nice post.

Sinoma Pongolle sorry ! Just trying to point out we have had highly rated younsters in the past who have ultimately failed to make the grade.

Sinoma Pongolle was top scorer for Recreativo with 22 goals

I thought Pongolle was quite useful. Its just that he has never become the player that Houllier suggested he would become.

Hey fellas! I say we get behind the team 100% for the remainder of the season starting tonight! Our boys have hit a bit of a rough patch in form but when was the last time City truly played well and blew someone out of the water? 8 matches ago? 10?

Truth is our team isn't good enough to win the league at the moment but we have a solid starting 11 and a good squad to back them up! I say we go out tonight to pubs, bars, or the mighty anfield (or in my case coaching kids in canada and checking for updates on my phone) and really support them. If we get past city, we're looking at a trip to Wembley! Have we all forgotten how important that is? Have we forgotten how good it feels to lift a cup for your club? Or to scream at the top of our lungs when Stevie G does it for us?!

Yes its the Carling Cup, but that's a bigger trophy than I'll ever win personally so I'll be more than happy watching Liverpool climb those 1000000 steps to lift it up!

Where did you see the solid starting 11? Carroll, Adam or Downing? Yeah they are solid alright! How long are we going to be saying lets back the team and each time to be a failure? Is it so hard to understand that critisizing is the best for the team so that they will understand we need to be champions and not mid table team? Is it so hard to understand that instead of giving 35 mil for a goofy player we could have spend it on a real gem? This attitude will never get us nowhere...time has change, things are getting done differently now. Its been 22 years and its time to raise the bar once and for all.

If people really have such a problem supporting the team and the staff f8ck off and support spuds or Man Utd we don't need you. Sick of all the negative crap on this page recently, I didn't come onto this site after the Bolton game as I couldn't have been bothered listening to all the idiots moaning about how bad a game it was. The way I see it is if you can't support us when were losing don't bother supporting us when were winning (Who said that lol?). I can agree there is room for debate on performances and certain players but all this get Kenny out sack half the first team is doing my head in. Get a grip lads and support your team. I have faith in Kenny, The Owners and all our players to perform. Now let's get to Wembly by smashing city tonight. C'mon lads..

It seems to me that there is a concerted campaign by many of the London centric Fleet Street journalists to undermine Liverpool FC, to undermine the progress made by Kenny Dalglish and to bash John Henry and FSG for the decisions that they have made since October 2010. Not just all the rubbish about white suits etc, but there is nothing worse than the complete drivel written by Martin Samuel in todays Daily Mail about our new kit deal and the insinuation that Adidas would rather deal with clubs like WBA and Stoke because of their success, whilst Liverpool FC are on the way down. Surely Liverpool FC are allowed to look at the deals on offer and do what is best for the club. In my view in the grand scheme of things it was the Umbro and Reebok eras that were the most successful and maybe a kit supplier change may bring us some luck.

Also why do presenters, sports newsreaders and journalists call Kenny Dalglish "Kenny" like they are personal friends, when they probably have never spoken to him in their lifetime.
Also why do some Liverpool fans keep calling Kenny Dalglish "Daglish" not "Dalglish", it really bugs me.

25 Jan 2012 17:48:51
Martin Samuel is a fat, pompous pregnant walrus lookalike. He's had an anti Liverpool agenda for as long back as I care to remember. He's happier throwing around his Slurgie and Alleged Tax Dodger love letters than caring about whether he upsest us with his hatred towards us. Not only that, he writes for a "news" paper that is not welcome by Liverpool supporters any more because of their other employees. His writing sums up the bigoted, jingoistic and xenophobic attitudes of the readership of that Nazi and other dictator sympathising rag (not libellous, look up Lord Rothermere if you don't believe me!) So just ignore him and he'll possibly disappear under his enormous dinner plate.

ok lets get this all straight all though we have not had the best buys thats because FSG wanted brits as it would be fast cheap and no work permits involved. quick fix. after we would start moving outwards international players like we are doing. sure carroll cost us 35 mil. downing 27 and hendo 20. but look how much we sold other players for. out net spending is -1 million pounds. all this crap about the owners not trusting kenny is outrageous. we have six points more then we did last year. and are in a carling up second leg one up on manchester city. we play man utd this week. needed to be said sorry for the rant.

oh yes i think d tex and j tex will sign {Ed002's Note - This is all BS. FSG do not say who to buy or define any "buy British" policies. You have no idea the money they have put in to the business and there seems little point in trying to explain.}

Downing did not cost 27 million and hendo did not cost 20 million shows how much you know about your club.

Well said ed, I am getting a little frustrated with all these posts saying KK should go and we are not buying the right players.
Correct me if I`m wrong but I can`t rember KK saying we would win everything this season, what he is doing is re-building, changing the way we play turning LFC into a dominant force and to be honest , appart from a couple of hicups Liverpool have been dominant, they have taken the game to the opposition and at times played some fantastic football, the achilleas heel.... in front of goal, we do need someone to take the chances.
we have dropped silly points this term because we have not put our chances away, if we had I think you would all be asking "dare we dream".
Get behind the team and let them know your there, stop the whining, things will go right, these players will click, the goals will go in and that, so far, elusive title will be Liverpools.
FSG are as much winners as LFC and want to win silverware, they will do what they see as the correct way to move forward, they are a sports group and realise what it takes to win and, that will be passed through to the squad and coaches and we will all be walking around with big smiles.

hi guys great website. hopefully we win today and this weeks match. but in my opinion we should focus more on the premier league games. we have wolves away then spurs at home (which i hope we win by 4-0 lol). we miss suarez and lucas. what im concerned about is that we automatically qualify for the europa league if we win the carling cup. thats why we need top 4, but the players seem to just focus on the domestic trophies. what do u guys think?. thanks and ynwa. {Ed002's Note - I am sure that they are well aware of what needs to be done in the league.}

Hi Eds, really love this site as it keeps me in touch with Liverpool even though I live in OZ. I have to say I miss all the terrible roumors that we used to have (my cat knows this dog who walks in the same park as KK's half sister etc) all we seem to get now is either 'I have read BBC online and paste all their content' or 'Eds, on a scale of 1/100 what do you think the chances of signing me' gran?' it's totally boring! Please, if your going to post, please make something at least half interesting up, its a slow January after all!
P.S LFC to re-sign Razor Ruddock, the guy has kept himself in great shape ;)

I walk my dog in Storton Woods and often see Ian St John with his two dogs.
I always say " alright saint! whats the word on the street with Lfc " he just keeps walking never ever answers me. Only just realised he has hearing aid switched off. Can't say I blame him. But his dogs did tell my dog Wuf Wuf Wuf and grr grr, can't make head nor tail of it?
So no rumours, Sorry.

Regarding the dfm position for the game tonight, how about putting fabio aurelio in that position I think he would do well has done it before for us. Have gerrard on the right putting them crosses in.

Abz

Is football at this level really so simple?!!

Too one footed, you have to be a 2 footed player in that position. He'd get slaughtered.
kidmillions

If he is fit, he would certainly be an option. He has the discipline to play the position, and as you say he has played there occasionally.

Add to that his ability to pick a pass could add a bit of creativity, and his crossing ability could bring out some of the best in Andy Carroll.

IMHO I think we should go with Conor Coady, but he played for the reserves yesterday so it would be a difficult ask for him, so I don't expect him to be selected. I think he needs to either get some game time in the 1st team or be loaned out otherwise we run the risk stagnating his development.

Back to tonight, I have a sneaky feeling that Agger may be used in the DM position, with Carra coming back into central defence.

RedSG

Two footed for d/m??
Like mascherano, busquets, Lucas, Alex song??
G BOX

Agger played there once before and was awful, if Agger ends up on the right side of the pitch as you will do in that position; he's lost! he's too left footed for that position, can't you see that? Would stake my house that Kenny will not play Agger there. Gerrard, Henderson or Glen Johnson are the probable options.
kidmillions

kidmillions

Rafa tried Aurelio at DM - he was poor

Redpath

Aurelio was bought as holding midfielder - Rafa put him at left back due to his good left foot, defensive skills and our lack of a good left back at the time.

IMO Aurelio as holding midfielder is a good option, although i reckon he would be injured by the 38th minute!

YNWA jns

Stick Agger in their

Too one-footed, too immobile, too weak in the tackle. Would be good to see him on the left-wing perhaps

I think we should have aurelio in the team tonight, just for his crossing ability from the left to carrol. yes he wont last many games but could do the job tonight lols. quality player who i think deserves a run in the team downing has not done much apart from cutting in and passing to other team players.

liverpool bill

(chorus)
o liverpool bill, you're our liverpool bill
your name is a legend
of courage and skill
you gave us the league
all the cups and the thrills
and thats why we love you
our liverpool bill

anfield will always remember with pride
the scot who commanded the liverpool side
as sharp as a razor - his wit and his voice
his love of the game made him
liverpool's choice
(chorus)

bill you will will never be walking alone
the kop will be with you away or at home
as long as we breathe we'll remember you still
o thank you forever, our liverpool bill

bill shankly from glenbuck

it was on a cold december's day
back in 1959
that man came down from huddersfield town
to lead the anfield line
he bought yeats from dundee and st john
and the football world was shook
this man became a legend -
bill shankly from glenbuck

but with shankly gone we sang 'walk on'
but feared we'd walk alone
and the search was on to find the one
who would fill the masters' throne
and the man we found became renowned
throughout the football game
three european cups - six championships
bob paisley was his name

and when bob stepped down he left his crown inside his anfield home
where joe fagan came and brough new fame with a treble won in rome
tho' the heysel year left joe in tears
the following year he'd sing
when we won the league and the fa cup
and kenny was our king

when he played in red bob paisley said
he's the best he's ever seen
and the team he built in 88 ruled the football world supreme
and tho hillsborough left us all bereft and the kop bedecked in flowers
kenny proved he truly was our king in anfield's darkest hour

now the mantle has passed to a man from france
and houllier we praise
and we sing 'walk on' and the kop's in song
as we savour glory days
days of ball-to-feet, days of victory sweet
days of passion, guile and fire
its the legacy of a man so great -
bill shankly from ayrshire

if any liverpool manager ever deserved a bit of patience from the fans, it's kenny dalglish. he supported you when you needed it most. get behind him and the team, it's what being a supporter is all about. bill's big society. it's easy when you're winning innit.

I think if we win tonight, our bigger concern for the 2 games after should be for the tuesday night game AWAY to wolves, and more emphasis should be placed on winning that one than saturdays glamour tie.
We desperately need to win on tuesday night, but will the players be up for it 3 days after a big game like uniteds?

I have a mate who works for a company which supports the LFC company's firewalls. He sometimes speaks to the IT manager at LFC who has the odd bit of info. Anyway I can't mention names so lets's call my mate Mr Blu and the other guy Mr X. Mr X told Mr Blue that the web developer he employs has been given a story which he had to hold off on publishing on the company's website. The story is mega, hence it has been pre-written. It relates to the rumour below ,where the guy wrote about shirt printing at LFC/CFC. Anyway as it turns out this is not just a rumour. Fernando Torres will not play for Chelsea this weekend but he will resign for Liverpool before the window closes. Dirk Kuyt will be ging the other way, plus approximately £20 million!! This will happen. - Kei - LFC Fan

Kuyt will not be playing for Chelsea

just my guess...

luuk de jong was first option not sure whether we backed out or he did.

guy from inter was probably luc castaignos because zarate not possible and coutinho very difficult.

now david texeira. makes sense, fits in with transfer policy. also would make suarez and coates feel more comfortable at LFC.

Isla: "Whilst Isla is only 23 years old, he already has 32 caps for his national team and has scored two goals. He can play in numerous positions, including right, centre and left back, as well as winger or centre midfielder. Also, he can play as an inside forward".

also makes sense as he can be a right winger but I doubt we have the money to buy both and macca says only one striker. hopefully isla in the summer...

redkenyan

On Isla , there is no doubt that he is talented and adaptable but , at 5 foot 8 inches , a Premiership centre back , I don't think so .

Isla is not a center back

Right wingback or Defensive CM are his best position, he's good enough going forward that i think he'd make a great winger for the club.

Watching Wilfried Zaha is just like watching Adebayor, but without his finishing ability. If Zaha can develop his finishing and keep a good attitude, then he should be a good player - those are two pretty big risks though, so I can understand why the club would pass on him at such a high price.

He is another player like Carroll who is raw and will take time to develop. I wouldn't mind the club snatching him up over the summer, focusing his training on finishing, and loaning him out to play as a striker and develop his potential. I'm sure he'll move to the premier league in the summer though.

Thanks!

CSeiling

I agree that Zaha seems to have something worth developing , as well as having a spirited approach at the moment .

As for Carroll , it does worry me when posters suggest that time is on his side .

He is 23 , when should we expect an impact , 33 , 43 ?

No, maybe when he's 24 or 25 and he gets some quality service

Not being funny but just been reading that Blackburns Mauro Formica is being touted by Olympiakos, but they are baulking over a price of around £3.5M, now hes been playing really well in a difficult Blackburn team, scored a few goals and so on, hes creative and gets forward, surely for any fee under £5M thats a bargain, with premiership experience and age on his side aswell?
I understand that at this time there has been no interest in the player, from Liverpool anyway, but I just think were missing an opportunity there, hes a great player, and gives what we are missing, creativity going forward.

does anyone else think that the fsg plan when they took over was to give a manager enough money to add to the existing squad and make us AT THE VERY LEAST realistic top 4 contenders for the next, say 5 years, until we get the stadium built? Then and only then can we really compete for top spot...
i dont know whether i am being a realist or pessimist for thinking we will not win the league for the next 5 years??
maybe it will give other fans great comfort seein things from this point of view and understanding what the club are trying to do...
god only knows this recent frame of mind has helped me. i've actually found myself chuckling to myself with an evil grin on my face.

Hey guys, Arsenal supporter here,
As much as i don't like Liverpool, i respect your team because you actually have a history and great supporters. The likes of Manchester City and Chelsea that spend big and don't have a history before the year 2000, i don't have any respect for them. At least you guys have some sort of dignity and it won't be long before Liverpool and Arsenal will be back in the top 4. Clubs like ours won't die, Arsenal have never been relegated and Liverpool having been up there for years and years.
And another thing, You'll Never Walk Alone gives me goosebumps, even when i youtube it, its great to see a EPL club cheering and supporting their team without the typical English chants every 2 seconds. I wish more teams could bring an atmosphere that teams like Liverpool and even Panathinaikos from the Greek league.
But on to players, you guys need a big name defender, a big name midfielder and big name striker.
Caroll was a waste of 35 mil, i'd sell him for a couple of magic beans and a billy goat, Suarez is good but he needs to learn how to finish the chances he creates because he could easily have been 10 goals + by now. For the striker position, i would take either Higuain, Doumbia or even Podolski (who I very much want at Arsenal).
For the Defensive position, i would take either Vertonghen (another one i'd love to see wear an Arsenal jersey), Chris Samba (for the bench to add depth) or Hummels.
Now for the Midfield position, i would say Hazard (another one I'd want at the Emirates haha) or maybe even Malouda.
You guys aren't far off, hang in there because we need more clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal in the top 4, not clubs like Chelsea and City, i mean honestly, as much as you probably don't like Arsenal, you know i'm right.
Nick.

Sold. please leave the two magic beans and billy goat at anfield road end !

I have a soft corner for Arsenal as they have bring so many young talent in Football. but this year they look like lost.

I'd agree with that, but I don't think we need a defender. With Lucas or Spearing we've managed to have one of the best defences in the league. Carroll needs more time, he showed a glimpse of his passing ability against Bolton but his confidence dropped after 3. I'd like a finisher at the club, someone who can take half chances and convert them to goals.
Also I'd prefer to see your team in the Champions League over the spuds as 'Arry is a crook and sucks up to the media (Then we take the Chavs place too!).

Arsenal like a lot of reds are my 2nd favourite club. Don't agree though; we just need a Van Persie imo.
kidmillions

Ahh, Arsenal.
Mixed feelings about you lot.
I think that Arsene has been good for you over the years and I admire the ethos he has bought to the club.
Can't forgive you lot for the last game of the 88/89 season though.

Redjinal

Sorry to bother you guys, but from a neutral perspective, what do you guys think of Theo Walcott? Tbh i think he is rubbish without his pace, he can't take on a defender in a tight space like most wingers should, very inconsistant, lacks the skilled required to be a winger and i just think he isn't a kid anymore and he doesn't have the excuse of "oh but he has potential" anymore.
Thoughts?
Cheers,
Nick.

does anyone else think martin kelly could play in the def-mid position , i think with his size he would be great in there , it would be a bold decision by kenny , most fans say spearing is to small , but forgive kuyts bad points when they say he makes up for it with his running , jay spearing gives just as much a kuyt , but does not get the sympathy vote , i like jay spearing but he's injured , so putting kelly in there would be a good move , or use kelly on the right wing , he bombs down the right anyway , plus he can help johnson out

Just get rid of Johnson and his ego and play Kelly at RB. He's far the better player.

Like Kelly; but no for that position, he's too one footed. It's a position you definitely need to be able to turn and play to the left or right and generally have a low centre of gravity.

Posters and eds, to ease the confusion, the Portugese mudfielder is called Joao Teixeira (noticed the 'I') and the Uruguayan striker is called David Texeira. Also take this to mind when pronouncing their names too. With regards to all zaha rumours, from what i saw today, he seems a tricky winger and decent player, but - and this only from observing from one match, so i may be wrong - he doesn't seem to be the fastest of players.

Lfc need a def mid, in watching recent games Gerrard, Hendo and Adam are in each others way, almost slowing the game down with 5 yard passes instead of spreading the ball around. On top of that very weak defensively. Spearing does help with the defense, and should be in instead of Hendo or adam, but spearing is not good enough to be in there consistently, need a def mid, striker( goal poacher). And a winger with pace and creativity a Marin/Johnson type. Won't get all 3 but to make top 4, we need this.

25 Jan 2012 00:01:38
This 'buy British' plan is - and always was - a myth. Ed002 is entirely correct in his assertions (he usually is). We also signed Doni too.

We may well have thought that Henderson, Carroll and Downing being hg players was a bonus (Adam is not) - but the idea that the focus at Liverpool was 'buy British' was a construct of the press.

I wrote for a blog during the summer and remember the interview in question breaking on Newsnow.

The quotes said nothing about a focus on 'buying British', they said if a player happened to have had played in England - or was a homegrown player - that that was a bonus, but that players would be selected regardless of nationality.

Within hours - the blog community, led by f365 etc - had given the comments a 'Kenny to Buy British' angle. At the time I laughed to myself at the misrepresentation of the quotes.

The next day, the press - seeing the internet reaction to the fictitous buy British ampaign - decided that they loved it - and went nationalist, as newspapers do in all countries.

The internet raged with debate and discussion on our new 'policy'. It was a big debate issue with fans all summer. To this day it still continues.

I marvel as this 'Buy British' nonsense and how it started.

It was a nonsense then and it is now.

It was a good lesson however - on how both internet football sites and news sites/blogs - and the mainstream media work the national angle - and how blogs and social media spread ideas like wildfire.

A lesson too in just how suggestable people are.

BJH YNWA

ps - Ask yourself this.

Beyond fulfilling our quota of 8 'homegrown' players - as required by all the sides in the premier league, do you see us having any more of a hg bias than any other side in the league? do you?

Reminds me of that line -

"Just because you see it, doesn't mean it's there............"

pps - Just listen to ed002, he'll keep you on the right track.

That he is an American (and a Chelsea fan) who knows so much about 'soccerball' only adds to his allure and enigmatic status. If all the blogs had his smarts - this nonsense wouldn't even be discussed.

Dont ppl actually read this site ed002 is a woman not a man many of u might not think women know about football but they do as ed002 has proven many times.

It's never been confirmed or denied as Ed002's fellow country folk would say.
Considering when Ed and Chris in Tamworth had an argument over sea bass,when Ed002 stated he was out with his wife in Windsor.
Now unless Ed002 is a women who bats for the other side,not that their's owt wrong with that. I'd say Ed002 is a fella.
Ed002 male,agree,female disagree.

To the person above

I actually am 99% sure i seen last year Ed001 say that Ed002 is female, and im sure that Ed002 also corrected a poster and explainin that she was a she, i maybe wrong, but im pretty positive thats what i saw. Maybe its a man, maybe its a female, all we know for sure is that its definetly a person (I think the Ed's like to play a game between themselves to keep this 1 private) lol.

Who does everybody think Kenny will play defensive mid. I sincerely hope its Gerrard otherwise we will get torn to bits. They have too many little players whos passing and movement are so dangerous we need somebody whos gonna anchor.

Charlie Adam cant run or tackle so if he plays that role we'll get destroyed.

Henderson's better playing infront of the midfield.

So if Gerrard doesnt play there I hope we play 5-4-1 with Skrtel, Agger & Coates CB, Kelly and Enrique WB's and Gerrard and Hendo in the middle, Downing & Bellamy just behing KUYT.

Andy Carroll is a liability at this time, he gives the ball away, doesnt close down, doesnt do anything basically so for me he just puts the pressure on the midfield (BOLTON GAME)

If we beat City or just get to the final, it will be the kick on we need for the rest of the season, Come on red men!

Post on rumours please!

RedHawk {Ed016's Note - "Not a rumour" "Post on rumours please!" No. It will be catagorized, there is too much of mess on the rumours page already. Not that this is mess, but it will go onto banter}

Hope Spearo can play 2mro but if not ur right it shud b Gerrard.

I imagine we'll play Gerrard, Adam and Hendo and Gerrard will play more defensively:
