With rumours starting to build about Luis being off again see various outlets ( now makes me feel a bit sick )

I wondered how the England -Uruguay match would play into that scenario. With the press laying in to Luis during the lead up and after

Or should I just live in the moment and enjoy him while he is around and not worry

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Enjoy :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Just enjoy him mate! Same business in the press every summer since he has been here, don't worry about it!

I do feel that if we beat west ham this Sunday the league will be in our own hands. This is the hardest away game we have left due to the style of football fat Sam plays and if we win our forward momentum will make sure we will not lose to City.
After watching Chelsea tonight I feel Brendan will set the team out with an all out attacking option witch once more they have proved they can't cope with and offer little threat in attack.
Come on the reds we have gone past dreaming and now we dare to believe.
Thanks Marco - m

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The hardest away game is palace imo

Alright lads, little bit of good news, uncle's condition is still critical, but they said he has improved overnight, will keep you updated on that.

I don't like to tempt fate, but I genuinely think we have a great chance of winning the league. Chelsea have not looked great since the Arsenal game and are looking slightly jaded. Similarly with City, although they have a squad capable of providing results even with injuries and fatigue. I think it all comes down to the two games at Anfield in the coming weeks. The City game is going to be the decider in my opinion. I feel we can beat Chelsea if we perform as we did against the big teams this season, although I still wouldn't rule them out. We gave City a good run for their money at the Etihad, and that was with a few vital players missing. At Anfield, with the 12th man sucking the ball into the net, I think we could just edge City out. But that won't be the end of it. It will no doubt be the so called 'smaller teams' which I feel will decide the destination of this seasons Premier League. West Ham will be the hardest of those in my opinion, and maybe final day nerves vs Newcastle. I don't even know what I would do if we won the league. I was saying I'd cry like a baby, and I probably would, but I think I would literally run around the whole estate in the nip (along with Ken and his lucky pants). Would be amazing, and on the 25th anniversary of Hillsborough it would be a fitting way to end the season.

Cheers,

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Too right ROI, too many factors in the remaining six games to consider, makes for a nervy end to the season. Glad to hear the improvement with your uncle, still in my prayers mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Glad to hear of your uncles improvement mate! Hope it continues swiftly!

So many twists and turns left in the season let's hope we can remain consistent and come through our tests largely unscathed!

Already excited for the game on Sunday; hoping we can keep the winning run going.

Think we need to do it this year as I can see Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal and Man U spending big in the summer.

Can't credit Rodgers enough; tinkers with his team and sets them up to hurt the opposition; if we get Champions League next season it's going to be interesting as he hasn't had to rotate or change the team that much unless injuries have forced his hand but have every faith in him.

The summer's going to be interesting in terms of transfers; I'm hoping that if we have a target in mind that we do offer an amount that will at lease allow us to negotiate; I'd hate to see us lose out on targets that can improve the team.

I think we may only need 4 players (whether these are returning players from Loan or new ones (LB and CM I'd prefer new) - LB, CB, CM and LW.

I also think we will generate some income with departing players as well (as the Ed's have said we have too many options in defense).

What a difference being in the mix makes and on top of that we're playing exciting attacking football. People who thought Swansea were good then this is a step up from that.

Lets get a win on Sunday and if we're not going to come 1st make sure who ever comes above us has to work for it it get there!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree with all your comments as to if we don't win the league this year carry on to the final whistle on the last game to make poss City deserve it.
Next year will depend on keeping suarez and a slight squad re-build just an extra bit of quality combined with quanity ( youth )w will see lfc make a statement to the watching football world.
We have the right man in charge let's get behind him as he follows his and our dream to make LFC a true football power once more

With our players out on loan due to return this summer here is what the most likely outcome for them will be:
Pepe Reina - Leaving (won't play second fiddle to SM)
Andre Wisdom - Leaving due to many defenders
Tiago Ilori - Leaving unless guarantees are given
Jack Robinson - Leaving as he has not progressed
Oussama Assaidi - Leaving as he has impressed Stoke
Krisztian Adjoran - Leaving as he is surplus for us
Michael Ngoo - Leaving as Morgan was better & left
Suso - Staying as he will be integral next season
Fabio Borini - Staying as he wants to succeed

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wisdom and llori will still be here next season the rest ill agree with

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I think the ilori situation has been exaggerated, I think he didn't say he was leaving if he's not guaranteed starts, but he think he should leave if he's not playing, ie on loan like he has

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone been watching the Granada matches with Ilori - thoughts?

Agree0 Disagree0

I see Wisdom staying, and instead Kelly leaving. My brother's flatmate grew up and went to school with Martin and as a result he remains best mates with him. In recent discussion he has apparently informed him that he will look to move on if the correct opportunity arises as he does not think he will get the playing time he desires at the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's been out injured

Agree0 Disagree0

You can't get rid of wisdom, i'm pretty sure he's part of rodgers plans.

I'd keep suso, borini and Illori as well rest will definitely be sold.

Also agree that Kelly might be moved on as well. I really like him but I guess he's too fragile

Agree0 Disagree0

I would like to see kelly and wisdom stay. I like both, and think that with Illori we have 3 young backs who will get game time in cup competitions and cover injured players.
Right now I see one of skrtel or Agger leaving in the summer. I'd also rather us keep hold of the young guns because toure only has a nother year left after this, and I can't see us extending that. which means next year if we sell kelly and wisdom, we will have to be in the market for another CB

I truly believe we can win the league this year but let's just say we don't and Manchester United win champions league. Am I right in thinking that if we finish 3rd (which is the lowest position we can really end up now especially if Arsenal and Everton draw this weekend), then we would have to go into play off game pre group stages?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Done to death. Regardless of what happens if Liverpool get through to the draw they will be in Pot 4 - and nobody will want to face them.}

Sorry Ed. Think you misunderstood my question. Let me restate. If Man U win Champions League do they go straight through to Champions League groups and 3rd place in Premier League gets treated like they came 4th, I.e have to play qualifying game to get to group stages?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No.}

Man U will have to go through a qualifier. Not sure at what stage though. Remember after Istanbul, we had to start at the beginning, long season that one.
Anyway, forget it, Man U won't win. Lots of positive press after the Bayern game, but let's remember, they're the reigning epl champions playing at home. Bayern away will be a different matter.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gidgo - in a position other than the top four a team who wins the champions league 9currently) takes 4th spot and has to qualify, Currently the premiership's top 3 teams do not need to qualify regardless of their ranking in Europe.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Apr 2014 22:49:29
Looking more like Pot 3 at the moment, Ed02, at least with a bit of luck. Lots of the usual suspects above us don't look likely to make the CL.

Agreed that it doesn't make much difference though- whichever group we are in likely becomes the group of death due to our presence in it.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I rather doubt it.}

Pot 4, 3, or 26 we will take it! Been so long since we've been in the CL! Even in pot 4 we can get a 'favourable' draw so let's get qualified and see where the chips lie!

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Apr 2014 20:13:48
Can I ask why, Ed02? I only see maybe 2 teams that might go in front of us coefficient wise- Sporting perhaps via gaining a bit due to Benfica/Porto still being in Europa (they are .8 behind us but would need Portugal to get above 12 points total or roughly 5 more for 13/14 to exceed us) and perhaps Alkmaar if they continue to do well in Europa (they need ~3 points to overtake our position). I don't see either of them being in the CL though, so there coefficients aren't really that important anyway.

Honestly not seeing much else that could change as everyone else still playing (aside from Alkmaar) is pretty well below us coefficient wise and there aren't enough points left from the 20% related to country coefficients to make much difference on top of which I only see maybe 20 or so teams in front of us likely to be in the CL which would put us right about the middle of pot 3 (assuming we get that far). Or am I missing something?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You have missed the big issue. It is a rolling 5 years. Deduct the figures from five years ago and then look at it again. Hopefully this is clear.}

02 Apr 2014 21:46:50
Evening Eds and all fellow Reds,

Just been watching some of the Chelsea CL game. They looked pretty awful, couldn't really get a flow. Hopefully their performance at Anfield is similar! Be good to hear your views on their performance.

How does Jose expect Torres to come on and impact the game when he chose to start a midfielder in his place. He certainly knows how to give his players a confidence boost.

Red Rum

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Maybe the £170k per week isn't motivating enough.

They brought the wrong player; Stevie had so much influence on the goals he scored.

Loved him for Liverpool but he's gone now so I think your see him in La Liga next year - him and Villa at A Madrid.

Eds fellow reds, said it last year and I will say it again, I don't see Luis leaving .he seem to be enjoying life at Liverpool and he will be in champs league will play every game if fit and his partnership with Danny sturridge is just getting better and better . So don't think he will go anywhere soon .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would be seemingly inevitable, after being poor and him staying, that now we are better he will leave haha

Agree0 Disagree0

I think its 50 / 50; I think he loves it here but has too many people telling him what he could be doing - in all fairness he deserves playing on the greatest stage; maybe this year he may believe we can give him that.

If he doesn't don't think the players who have played with him haven't learnt from him. Somehow I don't think we will waste our £100m if he does go

Hi Ed02
Would you think after todays findings the chances of letting any Barca players go in the Summer must be pretty slim?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Are they allowed to sell players? Or loan out players?

Are they going to appeal?

Has ed001 won the lottery then, and is now doing Liverpool Rumours on a gold-plated Ipad whilst being chaffeur-driven around Dubai in a Hummer on tank tracks?

If Ed001 is around, would you mind giving us your usual in depth analysis of the game yesterday please? I love reading them!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I have to be honest, I could not get to watch the game, partly due to the last game I had missed being the 5-0 game against them! I saw bits, in between Ed003 and a half jumping around like a loon every time anything happened and running in to tell me how many goals he had scored against himself. I reckon a bit of work and all Ed003s pushing of him to become a Blackpool fan will be undone and he will be wearing red not clementine. Sorry but I think I will be continuing to miss any game v Spurs until it stops being lucky.}

hi edd this barca embargo on transfers is interesting and I have a few questions if you do not mind?

1 win your opinion will they appeal and get it overturned?

2 is this a wake up call for all clubs let's say bending the rules?

3 will that mean any players barca intended in selling they will keep hold of now?

4 let's say pepe reina buys out of his Liverpool contract could that mean he could hypothetically join barca because there is no transfer fee included?

cheers edd.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - 1. It could go on for a long time via the Court of Arbitration. 2. They are by no means the only club responsible of this infraction. It is simply endemic there. 3 With a couple of exceptions. 4. That won't happen.}

I really can't see the 'not selling players' portion sticking. That would seem to be potentially punishing players for the transgressions of their employer which would seem at the very least a tad unethical and would seem similar in some way to restriction of freedom of movement claims like under Bosman.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its not that they can't sell players rdl. They just won't because they can't buy in replacements

Agree0 Disagree0

Thought they were banned from transfer windows, and read apart from fringe players, they cannot sell either

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree RDL - you can't restrict employee movement.

I can see them not being involved in overseas transfers of a minor for a couple of seasons but not all transfers.

I really wonder how we are going to go at west ham, the high pressure game may suit the hammers as they will have no problem just getting it clear towards Carroll, and if our midfield are pressing then may leave space around for Nolan and co to pick up off him. May be time to play a lot of keep ball and try and pin them back with the ball, rather than without it, despite it being so successful this season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Let's just stick to what has us top of the table

Agree0 Disagree0

Well that's an odd response, seeing as we have changed tactics and formations a fair bit this season to adapt, I'm sure rodgers will have different koans for this game than spurs?

Agree0 Disagree0

You said yourself it's been successful this season so why change it for a team we are well able to defeat. Play our own game an let them worry about it rather than ye worry about theirs no?

Eds,
Quick question.
Now that Barcelona has been banned from buying or selling a player for the next 18months what does it mean for Pepe Reina?

Also, what impact will it have on players we are looking at from Barcelona.

Is there a massive difference money wise if you win the league? Compared to just finishing 3rd or 4th?
Also if we did win the league do you think we will see a higher profile of player coming in? Like for example we've been linked with Marcelo & Sanchez in the past.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No, not a massive difference. I have answered about Sanchez and Marcelo.}

HI Eds,

With the transfer ban imposed on Barcelona today, do you think will now hold onto all/most of the players that were rumoured to be on the way out this summer?

02 Apr 2014 11:00:42

02 Apr 2014 10:40:48
Hi eds,
We've seen all the reports saying BR has assured everyone that Jordan Henderson and Jon Flanagan will be offered new contracts in the summer, but what about others? I've seen Philippe Coutinho's name mentioned (I guess to ward off interest from various parties), and obviously Glen Johnson as well. Jose Enrique was bought at the same time as JH so I assume he's got the same amount of time (just over a year now) left, so what are the club's plans for him? And are there any academy players who are being looked at offering contracts to?

Cheers!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I really can't help.}

03 Apr 2014 20:13:28
Cheers for the reply Ed02. I'm aware ed001 is normally the one to answer these sorts of questions - is he about to provide any insight into this?
Cheers!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Coutinho will be offered one, Johnson will have to accept a pay cut, that will be the sticking point, Enrique is unlikely to get one as things stand right now.}

02 Apr 2014 09:48:13
Hey Eds, not necessarily Liverpool related but I was wondering on your opinions on which club you guys reckon will most likely be the largest spenders this summer with FFP dates closing in?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Much depends on sales but certainly a number of clubs have lofty ambitions for players including Chelsea, Manchester United, PSG and Real Madrid.}

02 Apr 2014 16:59:03
Anyone else think west ham will be very tough with out a early goal?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The game I am really worried about is Palace. I think they are a very difficult team to play at their place.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it will be a tough game yes! We found it quite diffiicult at home to break them down until the own goal, then we found our flow, let's hope for a better start and a similar scoreline Sunday!

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I think it will depend on the situation at the time (one game at a time ;o) ).

If palace are safe Pulis might look to see what he's got in his squad that he needs to remove (therefore play non 1st teamer's) - same as any team.

We've just got to believe that we need to win every game and forget what others are doing or saying. Unless it's sorted by that point.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Apr 2014 16:41:47
Hey eds, does the transfer ban on Barcelona mean players can't leave as well? That seems sort of unfair if you ask me.

If they can leave, I'd imagine it would be that much harder to sign them though, as there is no chance of replacement except through their huge youth team.

If anyone could handle this ban, it's Barcelona.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - They can't buy or sell any players.}

02 Apr 2014 15:06:25
Alright lads celtic fan here can I just say a pray yous win the league am sick a teams where money is no object and they can just throw money about like its nothing ie city and Chelsea these clubs try and buy history because they didn't really have any in the first place all that money spend and your style of football is still most pleasing on the eye than the lot of them hopefully sticking by Rodgers is paying off now? Hi Ed's&all my Red mates. Something in my head I'd like to throw at you all seeing as I've not been here for a bit.Now young Flanno is having one hell of a time in the 1st team and long, long may it continue but here's the thing he's a RB playing LB.Long term would we not be better getting a LB to play LB?Now before you all shoot me as I said I love the lad and I hope he play's for Liverpool for ages but for me long term I would rather a proper LB and no I don't rate Enrique. What would you guy's do?
Cheer's lad's.
BarryinLouth

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Flanno players better on the left in my opinion its like it suits him

Agree0 Disagree0

Why worry if he's doing the job - Philip Lahm was a right full back, and can equally well at left back, and defensive midfield - some players thrive on adapability. Jamie Carragher was originally a right back and played midfield for all his under 21 caps. Who is to say Flanagan cannot build a very successful career doing what he is doing now. Good sides need players that can play in a number of positions.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a no brainer mate. Obviously we need a new left back, flanagan and johnson should be able to battle out for the rightback slot. In my opinion we should also buy a left back and let enrique fight back to get the 1st team place with the new signing. Its a priority for me as its our weakest spot but there aren't that many options available, maybe bertrand? shaw? not a clue but we need one that's for sure.

Agree0 Disagree0

Took the words out of my mouth Jackoo.

Red Rum

Agree0 Disagree0

For me it is the one place without quality, who would you guys want realistically for left back?

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with you Jackoo.Cheers for the replys lads.
BarryinLouth

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Flanno can look suspect when someone runs at him with the ball. If a player is about to receive the ball he's in there and normally wins it.

IMO he is a good squad player and would probably play 50% of the league games at either full back position.

Saying that the way we press and attack allows us to do the things we do and Flanno is an important part of us winning the ball high up in the opposition half as well as using good distribution.

Not knocking the guy as Sami wasnt rapid and he sort of reminds me of him - cool, good distribution but can be out witted and look cumbersome due to a lack of pace

Agree0 Disagree0

Bit of banter.

Any shouts out there for Sakho to join the back line against West Ham? Could he do a better job at neutralizing Carroll? If so, who would make way, Agger? Perhaps we don't change a thing and attempt to shut down the wide service in midfield.

I'll trust BR's choice on Sunday, I believe he's earned that at this point. I was curious what others thought.

Personally, I wouldn't change a thing in the back at the moment.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Keep the same settled back four for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

I know they say "never change a winning team", but West Ham will be doing all they can to lump the ball up to Carroll.

Therefore, tactically it would be wiser to bring in Sakho for his aerial ability. He and Skrtel should have no problem dealing with big Andy.

Red Rum

Agree0 Disagree0

What will happen is we will play the normal team, Carrol will score maybe 1 or 2 and we will put twice as much past them.

I can honestly see that happening for the rest of the games this season other than the Chelsea and City games.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Apr 2014 16:44:40
Keep it as it is I would. The way I see it the biggest issue with our defence has been inconsistency and constant changes of line up. They've done well last few games, leave them to it. 3/4 of the best defence in the league season before last.

Cheers

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Apr 2014 17:48:42
Sakho might make it a little harder for him than Agger, but honestly I think Carroll's better at winning headers than both of them, and will win headers if the service he gets is good enough. I think we have to worry about second balls and cutting down their crossing opportunities rather than trying to directly combat him in the air.

And there's also the possibility that Carroll would move onto Skrtel as much as he can to avoid Sakho if we do start him and render the change pointless.

I like Sakho, but I don't see any value in changing the back 4 to specifically counter Carroll.

Agree0 Disagree0

I was wondering about putting in Sakho but am now convinced by Something Reds clever analysis.

I don't want to tempt fate but if Stevie G was out who would take our penalties?
Who are the next in line?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agger takes pens for Denmark, I think. Sturridge otherwise, or maybe Henderson I imagine.

Agree0 Disagree0

Suarez.

Red Rum

Agree0 Disagree0

Coutinho should be deputy for penalties imo. I remember him taking a couple in pre season, sent the keeper the wrong way each time. Looked as cool as a cucumber.

I think it'll be very tough getting a decent lb this season. Come to think of it a lot of big clubs are looking for a decent left back this summer. We need one, united need one, chelsea need one and spurs and arsenal wouldn't mind getting someone in either.

But i'm sure rodgers has identified his targets and with cl football and a great season under his belt he'd probably end up getting his 1st or 2nd target

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Have to say I agree.
This may be one area where we may end up paying over the odds. Unless BR has a rabbit up his sleve :)

The Spanish giants are deemed to have breached rules relating to the “international transfers of non-Spanish minors”, according to a statement from the game's governing body, and they have also been fined along with the Spanish FA.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

They are not allowed sell players either I think. at least that will stop the silly rumours.

Agree0 Disagree0

Eds - do you know if this is just 'transfers in' or 'transfers out' too?

Would this affect our chances of signing Tello?

Would it affect loans too?

Thanks

{Ed002's Note - In - loans are not dealt with separately.}

Watching man United Munich last night now the latter is said to be the best team in Europe now Liverpool will strengthen in the summer we definitely will not be out of r depth we will get a tough group but nobody will want us for their 4th team in the group stage if that's the best there is.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I fell Liverpool will hold their own in europe, but don't for 1 second think Bayern got out of 2nd gear

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that if our players perform in Europe like we have this season then we will do well in Europe. The problem being that the Champions League brings an extra 6-13 games so if the squad is durable enough to perform in Europe and the league then I don't see why we won't be contenders.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought it was just like watching Arsenal watching Bayern pass the ball to death get to edge of area and it all goes Pete Tong they try walk the ball in. any one hear the commentator mention during the match that Bayern manager had told them not to shoot out side of the box! why if they play around the box like last night then I think they won't win champions league I really did not think much of them to be totally honest I still think the two Spanish teams are better on the day

Agree0 Disagree0

just seen the report about the pruposed spurs new stadium. they have 47,000 on the season ticket waiting list. couple of questions without sounding naive. if they have a list like that, what sort of numbers have we got? and secondly if we have more than that on the waiting list why is ian ayre talking about 60,000 being our sweet spot. and lastly if momey was no object and anfield wasnt as hemmed in as it is what sort of stadium could we fill eaxh week?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We have a season ticket waiting list of 70,000+, the reason we can't go above 60,000 yet is because we'd need to revamp the transport system in Liverpool such as the railway for safety purposes, which would cost enormous amounts of money.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Apr 2014 14:16:55
You can't build as you wish.

Agree0 Disagree0

Where the hell did you get the idea of 70,000 on the waiting list, it's been well documented that our waiting list is about 20,000 - the LFC website states that over the last 15 years 70,000 have expressed an interest - not the same as being on the waiting list.

Agree0 Disagree0

As a former Mersey travel employee I seen plans for the city of Liverpool for the once proposed tram system and the trams would of ran right up to the once proposed new Liverpool ground and to Goodison park which would of catered for all the football supporters but this fell through and may of been one of the reasons that the new ground did not happen

Agree0 Disagree0

So are we saying that in ten years time our redeveloped anfield will still be to small? I understand the need to keep up but I fail to understand that were not future proofing. will we be in the same position as we are now i.e in a stadium that isn't big enough? any thing to add edds?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - 60k will be the limit.}

I seem to remember Ed02 giving a very good answer to that question a few months ago.

Nobody will be signing anyone from barca then because they can't replace them! There's the end of barca their ageing squad needs almost as many new players as man utd!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think that have been banned from both buying and selling so there will be no movement in or out.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's if an appeal does not get over turned.
An appeal is more than likely on the grounds that "Barcelona hope that similar action taken against Chelsea over the signing of Gael Kakuta, which was eventually overturned, will see them successfully contest the judgement."

Although how they can argue that one infringement by Chelsea can be as bad as the 10 signings they have made as well as "several other concurrent infringements" is beyond me.

So we will just have to wait and see what happens.

The breach by Kakuta relates to other things, if I remember well

What do you guys think of james milner? personally think he could be a good bit of business. down to his last 12 months of his contract.so could be on the cheap

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Great squad player!

Agree0 Disagree0

Not for me Stevie lad, I think he is over rated. He's final ball as well ain't great. But hey what do I know.

Agree0 Disagree0

For about 5 million pounds would you take him?

Agree0 Disagree0

Henderson and Allen at the club there's no need but with his experience and grate attitude maybe

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Apr 2014 12:14:48
I think he's a decent player, but I'm not sure he adds anything that Hendo and Allen don't bring!

Agree0 Disagree0

Decent player, but I rather look elsewhere.

Keep in mind that we will probably only see 2 or 3 players bought in; Do you want one to be Milner?

Agree0 Disagree0

For 5 million pounds would you take him?

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Apr 2014 12:33:23
James Milner is very suited to the way Rodgers likes players. He is very mobile, fairly quick, great energy, and loves to press the opposition. He is also arguably the most versatile player in the premier league. His end product is actually very good, he just rarely gets the plaudits he deserves because he is a lot like Dirk Kuyt. Very industrious, but very little flair. He gets the job done, but he does it 'ugly'.

I'd take Milner at Liverpool in a heart beat. He epitomises a hard working squad player. I just don't think we will go for him because of his age/wages, and also the likelihood of City wanting to sell.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Apr 2014 13:00:20
He certainly a good adition, A good squad player, But I won't splash more than 10 mill for him. He could play on both wings and also through the middle.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd drive to Manchester, pick him up and then take him to Melwood to be Zaffed. Without a doubt.

Agree0 Disagree0

I reckon he offers more then allen. allen needs to start getting a few goals and assists, he presses and defends well.Milner also plays more attacking and longer passes where as allen plays mostly short. that's where I reckon milner would be better

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't see why you would want him for 5 million but not for more. Yes it could be good business but we can't do the same thing this summer as last, which was to spend money on lots of cheaper buys as opposed to signing a top player for the combined equal total. Anyway to answer the question, I wouldn't pick him personally but I would be happy enough if we signed him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with East Midlands on this one, he would be a great player to have around the team. In the tough matches where we've taking the lead he would be good to come over the bench after 60 mins or so and help win out the match . We can have all the flair and skill in the world but you need these type of workmen type players who grind out wins and win ugly . Would be a great addition if the price was right of course!

Agree0 Disagree0

Clamdown if we signed a top player he may also flop (carrol torres and many more) at least Miller is proving in the league

Agree0 Disagree0

Joe Allen or James Milner? - no brainer - Allen every time.

Agree0 Disagree0

John b joe Allen offers nothing really accept six yard side way passes around the halfway line . He can't score or assist I understand Brendan Rodgers fancies his tactical awareness but I don't think he offers anything . He chases players bouncing off there hip . He's to weak for me . If Allen was any use I'm sure clubs would of been interested Liverpool will never recoup near the money we paid for him . He isn't worth over 8 million and never will be!

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd have him straight away doesn't mean no Allen, we will have a lot of games, rotation will be key, and Milner is hard working and consistent.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think with us pretty much having champions league milner would be a useful addition. premier league experience, good work ethic, decent on the ball and can play in a few positions

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Apr 2014 10:40:43
6 games away one game at a time. Only time will tell us what lies in store for us but I don't think we'll get as good a chance next season to win the league because there will be expectancy and look what that did for the team in the 09/10 season.

Saying all that mancity can still afford to draw with us and draw another game and still win the league on goal difference so its not going to be easy. City are still favorites.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Every game from now until the end is enormous.

We need to treat each game as if it was the champions league final!

Westham will be a massive win, we all know Carroll, Downing and even Nolan would like to prove a point.

Lets just hope we continue this amazing form!

Agree0 Disagree0

If we have planned for the future, I cannot see why we cannot have similar seasons in the future.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pakred, if city draws twice then they fail to increase their good for two matches. I don't think we'll have a problem making up the difference in our 6 games, we still have Norwich and Newcastle which could be drummings.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Apr 2014 13:01:13
I don't care, If they prove a point or a sentece, we need to score one more than them, They don't have 3 goals with them against any team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Red fish, i'm assuming on of the draws is against us so we won't add anything either. At that point if they are ahead by 3 goals as they are now I don't see them scoring any less goals than us with aguero coming back as well.

I know we will plan for the future but i'm sure bennitz planned for the future as well in the 09/10 season. Almost everyone tipped us to win the league and we just couldn't handle the pressure, it wasnt just about alonso leaving

Agree0 Disagree0

If expectancy causes teams to fail then ourselves, City and Chelsea are in for a relegation battle next season. Its important we just keep building. Remember that United, Spurs and Everton won't just disappear next season so the competition for even top4 will continue to be as tight as ever. In other words if we fail, it won't be down to expectation, because that's always there.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pakred the difference between 09/10 season is we have Brendan Rodgers not rafa Benitez . The thing that ruined that season was him! The players are a lot more mentally focused than back den

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Apr 2014 09:46:46
Banter please eds,

6 games left still tight at the top so let's not jump the gun and think we have the league won. I think us fans need to cool abit. Yes we are excited yes we haven't been this close for years but hey wait till be cross the line before assuming the league is over. one game at a time as the gaffer says and we will see where it takes us.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree. It's nice to be up there with a fighting chance and there's nothing wrong with being hopeful but let's keep it real. I'd hate for us all to get our hopes up and then it doesn't materialise.

There are many potential banana skins between now and the end of the season. Either way whatever happens I think top 4 is a definite!

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly 99dude.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed. West ham, palace and norwich (even with our good record against them) are all very difficult matched as they are all in relegation battles.

And then we have city and chelsea at home. We haven't beaten city in the last 4 matches I think.

Its all very difficult, I hope we win the league but we need to help the players by decreasing the pressure and lowering expectations

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Apr 2014 09:06:10
Seen a lot of people talking about all the players they would buy for the first eleven next year.
Personally think that would damage the club as it would send out the message that we are replacing the people who have got us into this position. If we are challenging for the title with six games to go then the team is that standard.
I think all we would need is to add depth for champions league games and maybe a decent cup run. Obviously a full back is needed as cissokho played few game and will go and flanno still inexperienced but other than that I think we hair need competition but even that may not be huge numbers as we have Kelly, wisdom, ilori, suso, assaidi and borini coming back in

Believable0 Unbelievable0

02 Apr 2014 09:33:13
I don't have any Interest in cup runs, Consistent top 4 for another 4 years and decent run in the CL would make our club look brilliant financially,
Doemstic cups won't generate Money, CL does.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree,
I can't see us needing too many 1st team players.
We need to boost the squad and improve the quality of the bench.

Agree0 Disagree0

Got to agree with harry if us going out of the cups in first round meant we got champions league again so be it prize money for champs league goes up significantly after next season i'd love a cup run but not at the expense of champions league we have a good starting 11 a few equality additions would be good for next season we have sone goid youth players too I don't think we need loads of signings

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolutely agree. IMO, we will buy 3 players. I think the management needs to make a decision on a number of players. For example, Kelly and Wisdom are similar players with respect to the squad and I think only one will be with us next season. Borini and Aspas is another one where a decision needs to be made.

I would like Suso and Ilori to be part of the squad next season, but won't be surprised to see them go out on loan again. Assaidi will leave I think.

Agree0 Disagree0

A great man once said Liverpool FC exists to win trophys.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow. For once, our bench is kind of strong IMHO: Jones, Sakho, sterling/Coutinho/Allen, Moses, Alberto, Aspas, Toure, Lucas. And we're on top.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Apr 2014 08:53:53
Eds and reds,

I have heard recently that players we bought last summer, Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas, could be moved on this summer as they haven't been good enough to compete.
Do you think it's too early to judge these players after one season?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

02 Apr 2014 09:33:58
Alberto could be kept, But Aspas should be off in the summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I think Alberto was a pointless signing. I have no doubt he will go on to have a pretty good career, but it won't be with us. His style of play is more suited to la liga, where I think he will go back. If BR intends to keep Borini, then that is the end of Aspas imo.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with Indian Buzzer.
Why did we sign Alberto?

Agree0 Disagree0

Could pf kept shelvey instead of Alberto said it all alone

Agree0 Disagree0

It is very harsh on them but I can see both being moved on.

Alberto plays in a position where we have plenty of others, who can be argued are better. Coutinho, Suso, Teixeira are all similar in age and playing style to Alberto. And, we have young Cameron Brannagan coming through.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Apr 2014 02:48:47
John Aldridge made a very good point on LFC website today - imagine how many goals Luis would have if he was our main penalty taker! Messi, Ronaldo, Fowler, Owen all had penalties to add to their high goal scoring records which makes Suarez's tally each year even more impressive than it is

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Great spot buy Aldo, plus it goes to show how great a feet it is that Suarez has achieved so far.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's already broken Alan shearers record then if you take his 10 penalties away.

Agree0 Disagree0

Understand what you are saying totally.
However for me, Stevie is too reliable from the spot to remove.

In situations like we are in (Challenging for the league) we need to forget individual accolades.

We need the captain to continue what he is doing and put the crucial pens away E.g. Fulham.

(My oppinion)

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think anyone is suggesting Suarez takes the penalties, just that he has achieved a phenomenal record without any spot-kicks

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont think people are saying that think they are saying imagine that's like 9 or 10 peno's this season Gerrard missed 1 or 2 studg missed 1 luis could have added like 10 on top 38 goals

Agree0 Disagree0

LTP no one was saying they want Suarez to take the pens, just commending him for scoring so much without taking them.

Agree0 Disagree0

LTP123, I think the OP is trying to say how Suarez has been impressive, not suggesting we change kick takers mate. I agree Gerrard is too good from the spot to be changed.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's also played less games because of the ban! Been an amazing feat so far.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Apr 2014 14:22:06
I was the first one said, he would net more than 30 this seaosn with or without ban, He would hit another 10 in 6 games.
2-3 against the Hammers this sweekend, One a spectacualr freekick.Mark my words

Agree0 Disagree0

Bear in mind there is a reason Luis doesn't hit penalties. I seem to recall him missing a couple during his career here.

Anyone think a big name striker will be signed in the summer especially if aspas or borini are left go, also what big name striker would ye like see come join sas, mine would be benteke or diego costa

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would prefer someone a little more versatile. Alexis Sanchez would be awesome, but I think the Eds have indicated very unlikely.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would a big name striker come in to sit on the bench?

Agree0 Disagree0

I very much want Griezmann, but it aint't happening - though I have a secret hope that things may change when summer comes.

Agree0 Disagree0

We do not need a 'big name striker' who would be on the bench for stupid money. Borini is more than good enough to be 3rd choice striker. What we need is a wide player preferably Shaqiri or Griezmann who would provide competition to our front 3.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Sanchez is a pretty big name in the world of football. I can't see a big money signing being brought into be a squad player.

I agree with Indian Buzzer that somebody like Shaqiri would be an excellent addition.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed with a lot of the posts above! I would give Borini his chance and go for either Sanchez or Shaqiri, fluid players with great talent.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Apr 2014 02:42:44
Do you think rodgers will want moses or cissokho to stay at Liverpool next season? I think they have both been bad. We need to buy a good left back and assaidi is better then moses

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The amount of (limited) playing time suggests to me they will not be here next season. I must say I expected more from Moses, and can see why Rodgers took him on loan. In hindsight, a loan was a good idea, because he doesn't appear to fit in with our on field ethos.

Agree0 Disagree0

I haven't seen Moses offer very much at all (although his first goal made me think he'd do well). I like Cissokho and he's impressed me more than Moses but probably not good enough to warrant buying him

Agree0 Disagree0

Call me ludicrous but I wouldn't mind keeping Moses. Not sure he'd cost much more than £5m which is hardly a huge outlay for a squad player who can play anywhere across the front line. That said, I'm not sure BR wants to keep him anyway, so my opinion is moot.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Apr 2014 10:40:21
I hope BR doesn't loan any players in next season unless he has a buyout clause at the end like with cissokho. agree totally that moses has been poor

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think either will be bought. I can only see one wide player coming in, and I rather it be somebody who can adequately challenge Sterling and Coutinho.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't want Moses either but bear in mind that he has now had a season to settle here so may be a decent bit of business if he is kept and has more opportunities. That said I think he only looks decent when he is running down the line 1 on 1 against a defender, so its a no from me. Personally I wouldn't mind if we kept Cissokho but next year could see McLaughlin or Wilson push on so a switch is for the best.

So Sterling has been voted the 5th best teenage player by some poll or other. Not bad you might think on the face of it until you find out that Januzai is 1st and Defoleu is 4th. Now don't get me wrong both are very good players with big big futures but surely they can't be taking into accounts how well they have played this season? The impact they have had on the team or Sterling would be above these 2 easily? i'm truely baffled.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I shall write to the polling station and express your concerns Irish.

I hope this makes u feel better and a little less upset about a poll that maybe wasn't manipulated by Liverpool fans again to get the result they want to see even if the fact is they are wrong!

Yes januzaj is a better prospect than sterling, but that is not others claiming sterling is a donkey just maybe not as good as another player his age.

Rooney is a great player but i'm sure an honest poll would have Suarez above him and many others, it dnt really matter in the grand scheme of things.

Stop taking everything so personal, the media are all over your gonads atm and the scouse media will make sure that continues dnt u worry

Agree0 Disagree0

Ironic that you talk about the "scouse media" when it has been the media's constant bumming of United that has somehow convinced a lot of people that Januzaj is an amazing player when he quite plainly isn't.

Agree0 Disagree0

Did Januzaj play against us? I don't remember him

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah Seano it's like everyone thinks he is on Crisitano's or Hazard's level at that age.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rooney is not a great player. Overrated defo

Agree0 Disagree0

Januzaj better than sterling. at the min . Naaa!
sterling all day long more power pace more goals

Agree0 Disagree0

Ctr definitely emotional about us having a chance of winning the league

Agree0 Disagree0

WOW!
That is bizarre.
Sterling is twice the player of Januzaj!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sterling is top dog in the league at his age no doubt about that

Agree0 Disagree0

Joke of a poll.

Agree0 Disagree0

Januzaj def isn't a better player than Sterling. Defoleu is though.

Agree0 Disagree0

@ bobatron

I was thinking about this for a while actually and I think they are just about equal. Deulofeu is probably better individually but Sterling tactically and as part of the team is better - I'd say they were dead equal IMO.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just ignore it, they never mean anything. I remember all us Irish getting Gary Doherty to be Times man of the Century, only for Times to disqualify him from it (an action from which I am still bitter) and give it to Einstein.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sterling is one of the best young players in the world at this moment, his consistency has come on 10 fold and so has his game, (mainly his vision, offensive and defensive positioning and supply)

Januzaj looks a great talent also IMO, maybe in a sustained run he would have burnt out by now but he has looked good on the occasions I've seen him play,

Sterling's ahead for me though at this moment.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe the other two are flashier at times and have a good shot in them, but the reading of game, positional sense and defensive work rate of sterling is way beyond his years. He's developing really fast that it's almost frightening to think how he'd turn out!

Agree0 Disagree0

On what planet is Defoleu better than Sterling.
Did the poster above watch the Tottenham game?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'll agree with that assessment seano
