Lee Chung-Yong out for 9 months after breaking his leg. Poor guy. Bolton will need a replacement and I reckon we could go for Cahill & offer Joe Cole as part exchange or Jonjo on loan as part of the deal.

Hi ed can you clear this up for me? My mate was ribbing me today that on page 8 of the spam it said that we were in £350 million pounds of debt and are now after the depature of the clowns and Henry and co coming in we are now only in £237million debt. Dont understand it and hope there is no truth to this {Ed002's Note - I think he was pulling Stevie's love truncheon.}

I am sure that everyone agree's that A. Johnson would be a great signing for Liverpool (speed, dribbling, crosses, british, young). Here is the catch; Man City would not sell to Liverpool, cost too much at the moment, we don't have the money at the moment, CD is a higher importance to the club at the moment. I can only hope that everyone will think about this and settle down about the rumor before everyone gets distraught when it does not happen. Like it or not when the eds and most of the time macca says it is a possibility or it is way off base then I suggest you listen, they have been right everytime. And pls stop taking what caught offsides says and listening to them, it is a joke. Thank god the Villa, Mata, Aguero rumors after years will be put to bed And now no Forlan, Johnson, sturridge etc. Its great to see excitement but lets keep grounded.

Gerrard to retire and go on coaching staff.... Fabergas to be signed and gerrards wages would cover his.....
Just a thought but really dont think it will happen...
But thats the type of player needed a good leader as well as player.

if we can get rid of aqualani, poulsen, jovanavic and if we are lucky degan , el zhar and rodriguez as well this will bring down the wage bill liverpool are still not a title winning squad only the signings of

GARY CAHILL
LEIGHTON BAINES
ADAM JOHNSON

will give us a shot at top place next year

Ed, what do you think suarez is worth in today's Market? And plz don't say something like priceless :) Cheers {Ed002's Note - I have no idea, but certainly more than was paid for him.}

30 Jul 2011 22:51:11
So we are being linked with
Ryan shawcross
Diego forlan
James mcarthy
All i have to say is why?
Shawcross is a thug
Forlan good player but not premier league
pace.
Macarthy come on bloody hell.
With Gerrard being out for at least another
month maybe keeping Mierelies and letting Aqualani
Aqualani go makes a bit of sense.
Then would have midfield of
Mierelies, henderson, adam lucas, downing.
Still looks strong to me.

Everyones talking about centre backs seems everyones forgotten about danny wilson a centre back with a lot of promise last summer i think we should give him a chance till jan.

Heard alot going around about adam johnson but mancini seems to want to keep him Played today and scored and looks to want to fight for his place. If he wants to go though i suspect liverpool would be in there as they would look for players for both wings :)

not a transfer rumour but general question - at the end of last season a fellow season ticket holder said he had heard that gerrard carrea had finished with this injury now i thought who told you that and its a load of bull sh*t but lately things seem to not be good with gerrard and i keep thinking of what i was told at the end of last season i hope the fella is completely wrong but has anyone got any info on the gerrard injury thanks. ps great work eds

I like many others on this site posted months ago that Stevie.Gs career was in the balance I like all the other posters on here were ridiculed by the various editors. Today's news confirms there is more to his injury than previous reported hence my previous post. Stevie has put the club first before his body for years to help us out but I'm afraid time has caught up with him, it's so sad. Stevie.G will not be rushed back and I can tell you all now that Stevie
will not return this year, he could be out all
season that's how serious the club fear Stevies
injury is, sorry but this is a true fact. {Ed002's Note - You weren't ridiculed by me. I have kept at arms length from anything to do with Gerrard's love truncheon.}

hi ed,
to be honest with you(ed2) i never agreed with you
the way you criticize rafa and aquilani but i can
understand you have a very good contacts on what
you say and on that i appreciate it. ed, rafa is LEGEND
and aquilani is CLASS that we didnt see.
thanks MALTA. {Ed002's Note - Benitez' problem was that time had come for him to move on. Mistakes were being made and time had simply come. Aquilani is a very good player but buying him and bringing him to Liverpool when injured was a major mistake. He wants to go, everybody knows that.}

30 Jul 2011 21:20:09
I was the one who posted about Carroll as the big signing in Jan. So I only post when I actually have information.

There will be no more signings.Wage bill is massive, FSG fully expected it to be trimmed down by now based on info given by Comolli in March when they drew up plans for summer. FSG have given funds, Comolli hasnt delivered. He will be removed unless players are moved on. KK understands.

30 Jul 2011 21:18:32
Having heard it from the club itself my worst fears were confirmed in that Steven Gerrard will not be fit for the start of the season. I now see it as though he may never recover an be the player he once was. That's why i think we have signed Henderson now rather than later

hate to think it but im starting to feel gerrards injury is turning into what has happened to ferdinand. he may not recover fully and be less involved from now on. hope that im wrong but that might be it for the gerrard we know.

Hey eds, hope y'all are doing great, sites a beast Anyways, can you clear something up for me; I've heard from a few apparent "itk" peeps and all are saying Sir Steven of Gerrard won't be fit for start of season and will mist likely be a part Player this year..? Any updates etc.

Hi ed didn't see the Gala game but mates said we were awful did we field such a poor side bar kelly flanno doni and carrol because we were looking at the shop window also are they the same players were taking to play valarenga.
Cheers,

30 Jul 2011 20:22:06
liverpool are still looking to add a centre back and a winger, if Ngog leaves expect another striker to come however the leftbck spot isnt a need as we have Johnson who will play there with Martin Kelly filling in at right back.

30 Jul 2011 20:12:24
If Stevie G is finished, should we look at Hamsik (Napoli) creative and scores lots of goals.

30 Jul 2011 19:35:37
I actually felt it necessary to flag some deluded person's comment on our official website who wrote how we need to get rid of the King, and how Liverpool were going to be struggling to be a top ten team Just ridiculous.

Though to be fair he admitted he was being a little "pessimistic"...

Lucas, Adam, Downing, Henderson looks like the midfield. Still think we need someone like Aqualani but who has the right attitude and can tackle to give an alternative. Cole is not up to it, Suso needs more time, that player with guile in tight games is a required to turn draws into wins. We will miss Stevie G as he is that player. I did say a month ago he was seen in tears coming out the Royal in town, whether that had anything with the not so surprising news today I couldn't say. Hope he can overcome the issues with his fitness, he is our talisman and we do not have anyone at present who can turn a game like him, or lead by example. He is our leader and if fit would add an extra dimension to the team. Hopefully the sum total quality of the new look midfield will enable him time to recover fully and not rush back.

serious concerns about stevie g and his inujuries its not looking too good at the moment maybe thats why the mccarthy rumours have started again, if he does get fit he could be out gor the half the season with little nggles here and there we might even see him announce retirement from his international carrer who know

Adam Johnson will not be leaving Manchester City.

Straight out of Mancini's mouth courtesy of Sky Sports.

Let us put those rumpours to bed then?

While I feel Kenny is the right man and the perfect one to take us where we want to be, I don't think we are anywhere near the top 4 with the squad we have.

We have always done a bad business in the transfer market. I don't know what goes behind the scene but our problem areas are not covered well. quality natural wings have been our problem for a long time now. Downing is the perfect buy. but that leaves us with the only available option. Rafa went for cheaper foreign talents and now kenny is targeting over priced English talents. I hope there was a balance between those two.

If Spurs add those two quality players they have been looking, If Arsenal keep Nasri and add two more targets, am afraid we will still be behind those two unless Kenny over achieves with our squad. we still luck a quality left back, a center back and another winger/striker to come out and say yes our squad deserves to be in a top 4.

am a bit disappointed because, when camolli was appointed and sending squats in every corner of the world, I thought we would have edge over other teams. but we are only targeting premier league players which Kenny could have done by himself.

I am sure if Affelay comes he will be fantastic, or mata, or payet, or cissokho or sissoko and few more foreign players we decided not to go for. I hope we will add some more quality so I won't regret missing on these players. Do you eds believe we have the a squad that deserves to be in top 4 or expecting Kenny to do the majic?

Where is RAFA? In Rafa We Trust 4-2-3-1
The master Tactician. Why did he ever leave?
Will Kenny copy a Genius or will he let Steve Clark do his home work. How much more work does Kenny really do at the club? Scouts watch player, Damien Comolli buys the player, Rafa left his tactics book on lfc desk.

Looks as if the Manager is going to become another over priced expendable

Not a rumour as such....I am a doctor, and I am baffled at how Gerrard got a groin infection this far out from surgery. Something is amiss with this story. I have a bad feeling that soon we will find out Gerrard is out until January, and then for the season. I would love to be wrong about this, but I doubt it. {Ed002's Note - You don't even want to hear my first thoughts when "groin infection" and "antibiotics" were first mentioned.}

30 Jul 2011 17:45:54
I think if we were being honest, not having Gerrard for the start of the season is a bit of a blow. Just having that extra body in our already pretty thin squad is a hard pill to swallow.

I suppose after our last few friendlies a little bit of good news would have been nice. Gerrard is still a big influence at our club, but it is better that he comes back 100% fit, and at least he'll be well rested.

A good start to the season is important, this season more than most.

IN regards to management I took
a american lady to anfield she had
never seen a football game in her life
at half time I asked her what she
thought her answere surprised me;
she said the forwards are playing
too close together they have to
spread out and use the wings more,
it turned out that her ex husband
was a professional hockey player.
my friend a evertonian(yea) took his
daughter to goodison park we live
in the us same story never seen a
game in her life, she asks her father
daddy why do everton players keep
putting the ball into the goal area
when their players are so much
smaller than the other teams.I guess
my point is how come two females
who had never watched a game in
their lives could spot these problems
and all the those guys in the dugout
the team captain, all the players,
could not because they played the
exact same tactics in the second
half.so forget about blind faith in the
management lots of you supporters
know your football and watch more
games than they do only differance
is they get the Big bucks.(liverpool 8) than they do
only differance is they get the big
bucks.(Liverpool 8)

stop panicking everyone, we have plenty of options to cover for gerrard now.
our midfield might look like this to begin with:
downing adam lucas henderson.
thats the best players (arguably) for sunderland, liverpool, blackpool and villa last year.
gerrard might struggle to get himself in the team this year, not out of injury but because of form. you could argue all them 4 players played better than gerrard last year.

Gervinho looking good again for Arsenal vs Boca.... wonder if we really tried for him? Would have been excellent for us (w/CF with pace and skill). If Gunners get Mata and have a front 3 of Mata/RvP/Gervinho, they won't miss Nasri that much imo.

I know everybody harps on about a LB & CD, but I really hope we get one quality attacking player in before the window closes. Suarez can't create everything for the team.

30 Jul 2011 16:53:54
First thing is first, we are not getting deigo forlan on loan or permanent he is a freak player, but what about carroll suarez kuyt we wouldnt want to leave suarez or carroll out on a 4-4-2 2nd thing is Stevie G is avalible in september says the LFC website, that what 1 month of the first bit of the season, thats not that bad, and i cannot believe the rumours of Mcarhty from wigan or what ever, he would only break into the squad when gerrard adam henderson downing merlies all retire - sorry for the spelling - anyway i dont think we need anyone coming in maybe a few squad players like joe cole, good off the bench, need a strike, a backmen then LFC will be set,

Hi eds i work with nicky ajose uncle in bury and am a life long lfc fan, i feel we should go in for nicky ajose in a year from now as he will be banging them in foe peterborough this year and although he came through the youth set up at man utd he is a staunch liverpool fan and would jump at the
chance to play for liverpool. please take note of this shout out as he will be a revelation in the championship this year.

Kyrgiakos & Ayala replaced by: ? (Dann/Cahill)
Cole replaced by: ? (Mata)
Ngog & Pacheco replaced by: ? (Long or perhaps just Mata)

liverpool midfield 2008

mascherano alonso gerrard

liverpool midfield 2011

lucas adam henderson

we have the same keeper similar defence and have just changed the strike force in january but it is gonna be in the middle were we are gonna lose alot of matches. the current 3 are good players but the 3 from 2008 are greats and the main reason we finished 2nd that season

I'm still waiting for numerous apologies after my post yesterday regarding Gerrards injury. I was told that I was full of BS and why haven't the club announced it.
Feeling quite smug today, although still gutted that my info turned out to be right.

30 Jul 2011 15:44:52
Been told Dalglish is wanting to take a close look at Snodgrass from Leeds but apparently he's injured.

30 Jul 2011 15:34:52
So the club have announced that Gerrard is suffering with an infection, what a load of rubbish Gerrards groin operation was rumoured to be unsuccessful about 3 weeks ago so there should be no suprises that he will be missing for a few games.
Will he be missed - debateable
Just lets get on with playing without him as I always thought he bullied a few of our own players on the pitch and when he was missing these same players flourished.

Don't get me wrong, he is a fantastic player, but he won't be here for much longer and we may as well get used to playing without him.

Remember - no one is bigger than the club.

Big Bill

30 Jul 2011 15:32:43
i think we should try to keep both aqualani and meireles atleast until jan because of the gerrard delay. they are the best senior midfielders we have available

As a liverpool fan I read a lot of rumours websites ie caught offside (or talks s**te as it should be known) but I do take the comments seriously and im ashamed to see what some so called liverpool fans say about our signings weve made and potential signings and demanding kenny be sacked I always believed we had the best set of supporters in the world but im starting to have my doubts on no otherclub page are the clubs suporters so against there own club as some of ours are I hop its just a few so called liverpool fans that believe weve signed crap and kenny shud go I have a few doubts but would never air them in public for the other scum bag teams fans to laugh at us if we carry on we as fans will be laughing stocks lets all get behind the team and manager and see where we are at xmas then criticise or hopefully applaud

Its so good to see the Aguero rumours can finally be put to bed, there were only a few clubs willing to pay him his ridiculous wage demands and surprise, surprise it was Man City he signed for.

Now for the life of me i cant understand everyone's panic about Gerrard missing a couple of games at the start of the season. He was missing for the last 5 or 6 games of last season and the team managed without him. Besides who's to say he is going to be pick every game anyway, for me the first 2 names on the team sheet will be Suarez and Reina.

Finally i know the games are only friendly's but the center back's really need to stop the long ball rubbish up to Carroll its embarrassing. I know they probably aren't the same players that will be seen week in week out but they are starting to make Stoke look like Barca.

always a red

30 Jul 2011 14:54:33
Aquilani doens't want to be here, Meireles is angry about wages and will probably move on, Gerrard is injured, Poulsen and Cole aren't good enough & Shelvey is still a long way off top quality. That basically leaves us with Adam, Lucas, Henderson & Spearing to choose from for the centre of midfield.

This is the area of the pitch that is going to come back to haunt us this season. We need 1 or 2 top quality players for the centre of the park. As good as a midfield trio of Lucas, Adam & Henderson might be, it's a long way off Mascherano, Alonso & Gerrard that brought us close to the title. Unless Kenny is thinking that Coady & Suso can make a breakthrough this year then I think we need to put the centre back search on hold and go after a young player like Javi Martinez.

-Shane.

30 Jul 2011 14:49:15
Stop sending rumours of central midfielders coming in cause we have way too many already and no one will believe you. We need players everywhere else but in that position YNWA

30 Jul 2011 14:07:23
we bought adam henderson downing, the reason must be that kk isnt happy with the midfielders wee have or they cant play the system i wants to play, so i think that meirreles aqua poulsen cole will leave.gerrard wont be playing for a while but he will be back.in my opinion we should get erikson trust me the next big player in europe.can play in the joe cole role or gerrard role and is only 19.
we need a center back and a left back if kk sees kelly as a center back only left back needed.
this is kk first full year he will bring us into the cl places.
next season we will be back.
the likes of insue aurelio degen soto maxi ngog el zhar wont be here in 2013.
we have to many players to sell and replace, i summer is not enough time.
but we will have a strong team this year i really believe in kenny, he found a mess we need to give him time to clean it up. 1 last thing KENNY wanted suarez so he will not be only buying british.this is just the first step in a long term plan.and we need to keep in mind buying players that will get inthe way of our youngsters would be stupid.anyway KK ALL THE WAY

Hi Ed just wonderin if there is any truth in the Micah Richards rumours? {Ed002's Note - None that I am aware of.}

30 Jul 2011 13:41:05
A question for ED002. With all this talk of Gerrard's ongoing injury problems and the rumours about Aquilani and Meireles leaving, what I'd like to know is what are you having for your tea? I can't decide myself. Cheers Ed

Liverfools to finish 7th this season and King Kenny to do his walking out act in November..Chelsea for the title mmmm where have i heard that before?

30 Jul 2011 13:35:21
The problem is just an infection after an operation Stop panicking. We have a better win ratio without him over the last couple of seasons. I always found that we played with more fluidity without him. Gerrard will be useful but not necessary

30 Jul 2011 13:32:04
After the recent outing in Turkey, it's plain to see there are certain players who must never play for Liverpool now or in the future............ we all know who they are. But the one who i strongly believe shouldn't play is Turan, cos he was absolute pants aswell. I hope this stops all the computer manager geeks from naming him on their wish list. What we really need is a top class centre back.

30 Jul 2011 13:25:10
Renato Augosto for the wing ed? More of a tucked in winger which Kenny likes to play on one side. Could be a great signing.

30 Jul 2011 13:15:42
Its an infection that he has suffered it will clear up with anti biotics people need to stop being so pesssimistic he will be back in that no.8 shirt again

30 Jul 2011 13:09:04
they really seem to be some really nervous divs panicking about gerrards rehabilitation due to an infection and people are writing him off saying his career is over and we need to buy a replacement for gods sake what is wrong with you morons he will be back fit and willing when ready he will probably have 3 to four seasons left in him and i hope and believe although he has been injured for some time he has had rest which he has needed for some time so i anticipate seeing a gerrard of old when fit and ready

Ive got no idea why everyone is paniking about the gerrard situation, he likly to only miss sunderland, arsenal and bolton, this could be a good thing in allowing adam, henderson, and downing a decent opportuinity to establish themselfs and not feel they have to pass to gerrard at every opportunity they get.

Afternoon eds and reds. I hear alot of posters on here saying "if we sign player A the Shirt sales will pay for the player etc. ED can you explain how the shirt sales works? Next season worrior sport will make our shirt, paying us 24 or something million. Do they get a percentage of shirt sales? Please explain Thanx in advance {Ed002's Note - The money from shirt sales goes to Adidas and from next year Warrior. A small amount goes to the club and the profit from player names and numbers added in club shops goes to the club and the player and is divided up in acordance with whatever contract is in place.}

Just being reported on the BBC Website that Gerrard will miss the start of the season and is not expected to be back until September - looks like the Eds and Macca where correct, gerrard having trouble shaking off a groin injury - worrying if its as serious as has been suggested on here.

Steven Gerrard update
Liverpool FC this afternoon issued the following statement:

Steven Gerrard today began a course of antibiotic treatment for an infection related to an ongoing groin problem.

He is expected to remain in hospital for several days while the precautionary procedure is completed.

The player will then return to Melwood to continue his rehabilitation programme and is expected to be available for selection in September.

soooo sooo sad

Ed wat do you think? {Ed002's Note - What would you expect me to say. The kid is injured, no big deal.}

Gerrard out til September, so his injury was healing fine? Now even more important that we start with a strong team in Norway and against Valencia next week so that the new lads can gel--finisher

30 Jul 2011 12:36:12
Not a rumour as i don't have any sources and I live in India. Now the Gerrad injury scare has been confirmed by the club, I feel Aqualani might have a role to play in Liverpool now. And all the moaners crying about the midfield overcrowding should think about it now, Our best player is unavailable. We seriously need further signings to add quality, not in midfield but perhaps on the wings and upfront. Your thoughts EDS...? {Ed002's Note - He has only been ruled out for a few weeks. He was missing for much of last year and the club got by. Aquilani does not want to play in England.}

I've just watched the Andy Carrol story again and I have to say how excited I am to see him playing next season. I've got a feeling that this player will not only bring goals but is the start of the 'new Liverpool'. This lad will be at the club for years to come and will be just as influential as Stevie. Kids will look up to him - as will the players. I can't wait. What are your thoughts?

Steven gerrard out till September? This is the start of future frustrations. We need to sell and sign players asap or we could end up with a consecutive losing streak in the Premier ship new season.

I'd have preferred Llorente to Carroll as he would have been cheaper and feel he is better technically but what's done is done we just need sign a left, centre back and right winger and we'll have a good chance of getting 4th place.

30 Jul 2011 12:10:58
i read on the lfc website, king kenny has to go, the singings he has made are rubbish. carroll instead of aguero and downing instead of mata. who ever posted that has not got a clue. carroll and aguero are 2 different kind of forwards and mata is not even an out and out winger.

If Gerrards injury improves, then he should end his international career, if he wants trophys he wont win any with England, so he should concentrate on club football.

If Liverpool are after McCarthy, i feel as tho this could be the beginning of the end of Stevie G as we know him, maybe Kenny is going to use him wisely , instead of him playing him until his duracell batteries have ran out, think we forget that he isnt Superman but what a player he has been and a great inspiration and servant to the club , thinkin back to Barnesies last couple of seasons in the middle, Stevie could do a holding job there no probs , McCarthy is going to be a boss player , so hope the rumours are true bless ya loads Liam

Not rumour exactly - but would appreciate posting on Rumours...Can any of the Eds please give some clarification on the Fitness of Stevie G please...there seems to be little news, and all of the spotlight has been taken off him by the transfers and rumours...is it REALLY bad enough to be contemplating buying James McCarthy considering all the other midfielders we have..are we planning life without him ?? {Ed002's Note - It is not a rumour and the Eds cannot help about his fitness.}

Imo, I think we really only need one or two more signings. For a back up striker we could just push Kuyt up there who's shown he can score and then use Hendo on the right. But I believe priority should be a centre back and left back with Kelly acting as cover for either. Finally, in these positions I would rather see Cahill for cm, Cissokho(spelling) for lb and maybe, but only maybe we could get a right winger and use Hendo as back up, turan or Honda? Would be great I think Only my opinion tho Kelly23

30 Jul 2011 10:53:15
This Mata thing is getting out of hand, if he came all well and good, quality player. But we dont have a right to sign every player, or we'd have even more so called deadwood to get shut of which is the only thing holding us back, in no way can we this regime can be blamed for the mass of players we need to get rid off the wage bill, down to the previous lot of owners and Parry. We've or them two f*** ups. We've been dealt the hand we've been given and some of the fans are gonna have to learn to deal with it. Just remember were we were a year ago with the two muppets still at the helm and we were going on a serious downward spiral. The way we ended the season and the players we've brought in so far in this window{say no more on Carroll, seem's he's gonna split opinion on matter what} will be perfect for the Liverpool way of playing with some real quality from the left in Downing and right in Henderson with Adam pulling the strings in the centre of the park. Getting Gerrard back will be bigger and more important then any signing were likely to make. Think people should wait and see re his groins until they have concrete evidence that these f***in sad rumours go away, . I really am positive for the players we've got suit our system very well. Get Reina back who lets face it, who wouldn't miss the best keeper in the world, our South Americans back a centre half and things will start to look a whole lot better position then some fans are making out. Look i'd like Mata to sign but people need to stop slaggin our own players who signed before him, i've said it before but which 21 year old wouldn't want to play for Liverpool. It seems that people are realising Downing is f***in quality so we'll turn on Henderson now. It aint Henderson's or any other players we've signed as the reason we've not even bid for Mata and got the other players we've signed instead of him, first Downing, now Henderson, these guys will bleed Liverpool along with Adam who's got away with the bitchin because of his price tag. Its a sunny f***in day cheer up folks it aint as bad, or should say its a f***in lot better then some of us fans are are making out. Lets judge the team a little more when we know its more or less the first team is in action against Valencia bar a couple of obvious players to come back, and make a proper assessment of the team after a few games of the season. Thats when we should be judging these players and this team, not before the first team have even kicked ball in anger together. Were missing a serious spine in Reina Gerrard, Lucas and Suarez so lets f***in rally and stop slaggin everything about our great club just for the sake of it. Jonson6

All this negativity is driving me mad

Carroll not good enough, Downing not as good as Mata, waaah...waaahhh...

Honestly anyone would think we had played 30 games and were bottom of the league

People, we haven't played a single game yet

The friendlies are exactly that, the team was nothing like the first team, KK is building fitness and looking to see if players can step up, thats it The real training is at Melwood.

As for Carroll not being good enough, please give the guy a chance He's played a handful of games and hasn't been fit I'm convinced he's a 20 goal a season man 13 in 19 for Newcastle last year, that equates to 26 in a season...golden boot

In a years time everbody is going to love him

As for downing, ok i'm gutted we didn't go out and sign Mata and Hazzard, but kk knows what he's doing, for years i have been angry that LFC play out of shape, left wingers on the right, Centre forwards on the wings etc... at last KK has addressed this..we actually have a left winger

and i for one am delighted...

Good luck for the season boys, its gonna be a blinder.

Have carried out some statistical analysis on this website (Google...) and here are some names which regularly feature on this site with the number of mentions. Have included a couple that have already signed for comparison.

Downing 667
Adam 560
Mata 463
Johnson 322
Enrique 294
Henderson 262
Dann 256
Cissokho 254
Aguero 242
Cahill 154
Honda 48
McCarthy 23
Roux 18

What does this tell us? Absolutely nothing. Carry on.

If Gerrard misse's the start of the season, you can forget a top four challenge, Saurez needs a rest, so thats him out for a month, Carroll thinks he's Drogba, and theres no depth to the defence, conceeding 12 goals and scoring 10 in pre- season shows this, you've got more mid-fielders then a super markets got trollys, the first ten games of the season, include real tests, Arsenal, Spurs and Man Utd, you could have as bad a start as last year.

30 Jul 2011 09:54:24
Everyone needs to trust in KK more, when he became manager of Blackburn in 1994 he brought British players between 22 and 26, he signed 2 wingers a new young central midfielder a new striker and also brought through youth players including Alan Shearer.
That season (1994/1995)Blackburn won the league, have faith.

Hi all fellow fans.
I have been looking at our transfer and policy and seems like we have a pattern that has been followed.first of all we signed our targets who were pre-identified and there was danger of other teams getting them, pretty much like what we do when we shop daily in our lives.we buy stuff we need at any price like daily shopping. and then there is stuff we only buy if there is bargain. same thing we have done with targets. we have bought what was required and players such as jose enrique, Scott Dann who will add more strength will be looked into last few days of market..well lets be honest birmingham is on verge of meltdown and Dann got 1 year left on contract and they need to reduce wage bill and any money coming in would help and LFC is aware of that so i think very late bid would be made and if there is bidding war we would stay away which is correct way of doing things.same goes for jose enrique as well..i still think another winger, Center Back and Left Back are required and possibly get rid of poulsen, maxi, degen, Zahar, Ngog, Kyriakos, Aquaman, Jovanovic and maybe 2-3 players going on loan to balance wage bill and make room for 2-3 players to come in..im still sure i could see us plunge into market very late final day bids to do some bargain hunting or i hope so that would happen.

30 Jul 2011 08:33:16
I think you're all putting too much pressure on kenny, the only time he won prem in last 20 years is when he was able to buy it at blackburn. Didn't fare too well with newcastle. Don't expect title wins, just expect improvement.

Why do people keep saying carroll will terrorise defences because of his size? Davies is similar height and build with 10years more experience in PL yet noone minds playing against him and he's extremely physical. Carroll (from what I've seen so far) needs to stay on his feet more.

If all we needed (like people on here claim) was a big physical target man to bully defences then davies would've been 30m cheaper with much more of that oh so vital prem experience that everyone rattles on about.

We don't have any flair in the team apart from suarez. The kind of players that unlock stubborn defences. Downing carroll henderson and adam might be ok against easy teams but agaunst an 11 man defensive stoke team you need sone magic, that only seems to be suarez.. hope we don't become too dependant on suarez like we werewith gerrard or torres

Everybody is talking about these tricky, flair players. I'd just like to ask who is Man Utd's tricky, flair player? Fletcher, Carrick, Rooney, Park. None of them are tricky, flair plyers Nani is their trickiest player but he's not even half as tricky as Suarez. Suarez is unique because he's tricky & clinical in front of goal. He'll benefit from the service of our new signings just as much as Carroll.

Just a comment on the amount of players in our squad, we currently have 27 who fall in to the criteria of having to be registered for the EPL.e.g over 22. If my maths is correct we will have to get rid of at least 3 players on our books who fall in to that bracket before we can can buy at least one. If we do not ship these excess players out we cannot register them although we will still have to pay there wages. If rumours are correct jova is on £100k pw, Poulson is on £40k pw then you also need to consider Degan £?, El Zhar £?, and also Aqua if he is not part of the plans on £80k pw. From a financial position how can the owners justify over £200k per week or over £10 million on wages in 1 year for those who cannot play and we can't register in the squad. Every one on here is going on about missing out on numerous targets when we need to address these issues first. To put my comments into prospective the average supporter earns about £30K per year (estimate). why does everyone insist we carry on paying these excess wages but also continue to buy buy buy sorry for the rant

Lets just trust FSG and KK, In Kenny we should trust

More about Mata and other 'world class' player from abroad. Let's set the scene: it's a cold winter night, it's extremely windy and pouring down with rain and is only a couple of degrees in temperature. Who's gonna perform better Mata or Downing simple downing. Who's gonna perform better ageruo or Carroll-Carroll, Hazard or Henderson- Henderson and the list carries on we have a whole starting 11 of tough players many of which are British but also agger from Denmark it's cold he's as hard as nails also lucas played here for many years. We finally have a tough strong team who can also play really well Quit complain and just watch and see what develops and wait till january and then we will see :) thanks. JD. macca lad, cheers for bring a little bit of perspective to things with ur last post, i as much as the next fan would love to see some of the stellar names in world football coming to the reds but ur spot on in the fact that as a club we are still in the building process and need to make the requirments of C/L football first and that requires proven ELP players, all i can say is have faith in the King, he knows the task ahead and unstands the club, its fans and tradition more than anyone and will sweat red blood to take us back to where we belong in the king we trust, ynwa

looks as though kenny is finally happy with the midfield options and is starting to look at the defence. left back looks to be enrique but i would prefer figueroa. he is more experienced in the prem and has been more consistent while in the prem. at cb there have been alot of players linked but for me dann is one of the best options. he is cheaper and younger than other options and will also play with passion for the club.

No matter how many people keep going on about it - Everton are NOT going to sell Baines to us - not now, not ever In the same way, City are not going to sell A. Johnson to a top five rival either. People who keep stating these rumours don't understand football complexities. Also, many rumours are coming from tabloids like Bleacher Report, Caught Offside, Goal.com, GiveMeFootball, etc. and are just plain laughable. These sites are almost almost wrong about EVERYTHING. Just reiterating their rumours here does not provide any kind of service.
