All i want to know is why is a ex player of liverpool (alonso) giving a interview on lftv.What next that traitor michael owen.

To whoever posted the above, what a complete an utter fool, Alonso is a legend, he cares about the club a great deal and has shown this by coming to do his interview with us, he didnt have to come he choose to. Every true liverpool fan would welcome him back with open arms.

"Why not? I think that in football so many things change, and why not? I have my red passion and if circumstances arrived then why not? At the moment I don't know what is going to happen, but it could be a possibility. Never say never."

after he said that, you never know he cud be coming home this year or the next :D

That's of course if you believe that the OP really did see Alonso coming out of Melwood! But if he had, then it wasn't because Alonso did an interview for LFC as that was done in Madrid, at thier training complex,

05 Jun 2011 23:14:24
Be delighted if livepool get henderson, wickham, jones and 2 of mata/turan/adam johnson
Thats all we need as kelly and agger can both play left back very well, and if aqua comes back into central midfield there will be plenty of competition for places something Liverpool have lacked over the past few years. Alonso will return, but not this season.

Yes you are looking into it too much. All he said is that hes looking forward to our season. Doesn't mean he is coming.

i really liked this site until all you lfc dreamers keep putting a downer on all these rubbish players being linked to us. let hope ur all wrong with every transfer and get some class in.

05 Jun 2011 23:00:48
Well I am hoping we might see alonso back this time next year but would prefer this season, he has never bin quick, he beats people with passes so he could play for another 5 or 6 years at the top level maybe longer. So could be an exception to the new transfer regime. Tom

05 Jun 2011 23:00:46
I think it will be very hard for Liverpool to get value in the transfer market as any player we are linked with, their clubs seem to be looking for unrealistically high fees, I just hope we can get at least two proven quality players to improve us for this season and not just for seasons to come

05 Jun 2011 22:59:14
all of you so called football fans saying downing is no good need to learn not to judge a players whole career on a late miss in a international friendlily.

the guy scored 7 and assisted 9 last season winning 27 freekicks for aston villa, and thats without a big header of the ball like carrol.

05 Jun 2011 22:53:51
eds, i really don't understand how Juventus, who finished 7th in Italy and have only just apointed an inexpirienced coach as manager, can aparently attract the likes of Higuain when we, according to you, cannot. I'm not having a go at you but i just don't understand. Are you just being pessemistic or are players of that calibre not being targeted by kenny? {Ed002's Note - Have Liverpool held discussions about Higuain? Or have they declared any interest in the player? On the basis of this alone it is hard to say with confidence that the player will be moving to Liverpool this summer. The suggestion about Juventus was told to me a couple of weeks ago when discussions were going on between Aguero's representatives and Juventus in Turin. They have a great deal of credibility.}

Alonso back to Liverpool for 16m......wait and see!

Alonso back, rumours already started. Not going to happen, await the rumour stories regarding "alonso issues a come and get me plee" or "alonso wants a return". He stated he wanted the la liga so thats what he will stay for. We will not go in for him, can't see it being KD's style

Why people post complete lies on here is beyond me... What do they gain from doing so? I don't believe anyone knows what will happen this summer regarding transfers, not even the king himself. We have targets and it appears that they are all young promising British players. Forget mata it won't happen. Man utd will buy Henderson fat Bruce won't sell to us over whisky nose, young will also be at utd next season. I think there is a chance we might get downing. Wickham I think we will try are best to sign and 1 more player for the LB position. Can't see us signing Enrique I don't think he is any better than Kelly or Johnson. Dave

Hi mate, just to say, were are in talks with Valencia and Mata himself and the deal should be ready to go through as soon as the international window opens. Liverpool are the candidates most likely to get Henderson. we are in talks with Sunderland and we are negoitating a fee, which looks extremly close to going through. I have very reliable sources inside Anfield.

Thanks, James. {Ed002's Note - You do appreciate that Mata is away with the U21s on International duty?}

just watched the xabi alonso interview and at the end she asked xabi if he had a final message for liverpool fans. he said just a message of great gratitude for fans and i cant wait for next season. in a message to liverpool fans? maybe im reading too much into this? your thought ed

05 Jun 2011 22:47:29
I have a feeling xabi alonso is coming back.

Watching him on Liverpool fc Tv tonight, I think, he was putting the record straight for a return?

Barton, Warnock, Henderson, McCarthy are not worthy enough to play for us (next season). I am happy if we sign Henderson/McCarthy for future but if it comes at the expense of top quality transfers for next season, players who are ready to play first xi, mata, hazard, diego etc then i think we will not see top flight footy for years to come.
___________________________________

Henderson or McCarthy not worthy!! They could fit into this team. They are for the present as well as the future. Two quality young lads that proved they can handle the Premiership. McCarthy has made 44 appearances for Wigan and has scored 4 goals, he is one of Wigans most important players. Henderson has made 71 appearances for Sunderland and has scored 4 goals. And guess what both are Internationals for their countries. So they both are good enough for the PRESENT!!

Eds, flicking between all the top 6 sites. Came to the conclusion arsenal fans are poor city are diluded man utd are still second best spurs wud be lost without Harry and Chelsea fans are clutching straws if some of them are prepared to take Benitez to get the best out of el flop...

This Liverpool site is clearly the best and most popular?
Just to finish eds I would love to see kd sign Adam Johnson wats your rating, pmcn5 Belfast

Just wanna say alot of posts bout transfers on here with lots of negative comments I just wish to say that I have every faith in kenny regardless of who it is because he is a clever man and we should get behind him.

I would love to see top names like mata & aguero bt if we don't sign them so be it I will back any new signing.

This is from the article ScienceDaily.com.

"A new study, published in the journal Emotion, finds that when humans see red, their reactions become both faster and more forceful." and "Red enhances our physical reactions because it is seen as a danger cue".

Does this mean that when our players wear red, they unwittingly boost the opposition players and spur them on to compete harder? I found this interesting and I hope it qualifies as banter as it relates to the colour of Liverpool's kit. Any ideas fellow reds and eds? Or am I going insane?

im watchin this xabi alonso interview and im not sure why he would give this interview it just doesnt make sense he has nothing to prove to liverpool fans who know he was forced out by rafas actions regarding gareth barry...i just find it odd unless like a few posts earlier there was something to come of it ie a transfer back?

05 Jun 2011 22:12:36
I sent a post in the other day which didn't get published but that's not suprising. It was about Ed002....what's up mate? A lot of the time you're either sarcastic/short with people or dismiss their posts by telling them just to read the archives, calling them time wasters etc... If you think your time is being wasted then why bother being an editor, or why not just not publish their post? There is obviously going to be a lot of repeated information and a lot of bogus information. Chill out a bit and don't let it get to you!

I don't expect this post to be published either but at least somebody will read it and maybe take a bit of notice. I've been following this site daily for a good couple of years now and can honestly say that just recently Ed002's comments are really putting me off it. I don't see any need to be like that. Don't mean to get on at you Ed002 but if there are other people that think the same as me then it's not going to win the site any fans.

{Ed002's Note - Yes but I am guessing it is just a smoke screen in the quest for Joey Barton.}

{Ed002's Note - No. Everyone need to stop throwing up one random name after another - it is wasting my time and everybody elses. It is fine to ask sensibly but we are now just getting and endless stream of names from some Football 2011 game or whatever.}

{Ed002's Note - And you decided to ask after reading my previous answer?}

{Ed002's Note - The trouble is that many, many, many people cannot distinguish between a viable rumour and pure fantasy. You and I both know that Kaka is never going to be needed after Ganso was brought to Melwood for his medical this morning in a carriage drawn by two unicorns. So we have to ensure we do not get peoples folks up.}

{Ed002's Note - It is unusual for Liverpool not to buy every single player out there I know.}

{Ed002's Note - I will be leaving from Heathrow tomorrow afternoon, but I have yet to see confirmation that I will be going for a medical at Melwood. But rumours persist. I am sure that someone will post here as I board my flight.}

{Ed002's Note - And you read all of today's posts before taking up our time with this?}

{Ed002's Note - I am assuming that some sort of problem with your computer stops you reading or searching other posts? He will probably be at Old Trafford.}

----------------------------------------------

Ed002's Note - I am glad that you appreciate the efforts of the Editors who freely volunteer their time to keep these sites going for people like you. And somehow you forgot to sign your post or thank me for the hundreds and hundreds of messages that I have edited today, for putting up with vile abuse from others who, like you, hide anonymously behind their keyboard whilst typing their spite and hatred at Editors, fans of other clubs, ex-players etc.. And then to compound it, you come along to defend the innocent masses from tyrants like me who believe that common courtesy dictates that one should look for an answer to a question before asking it, particularly if it falls in to the category of “the obvious”. Do you realise that the site does not have editors to sit and answer questions when every sentence is ended “what do you think Ed?”. But for you, it will be easy to move on to abuse others namelessly.}

Summer buys will include the below.

Jan Vertonghen Ajax 10 million.
Samir Nasri Arsenal 10 million.

Both quality additions

We could probably get them, but Nasri would be at least 15m-20m.

Spend on the first xi or spend on squad?

This is the question..

Personally i believe we need to strengthen starting xi, we are not strong enough to challenge with our strongest team. 2 wingers and a lb are needed for first team. The rest should be spent on squad rebuilding.

looking at the list of players people seem to think we are getting, not including big money players( aguero, mata and the sort) i am worried that where looking at age more than class in some cases and i really don't want to end up like arsenal with a lot of young players with potential and not enough senior players with experience, cos lets be honest that probs the biggest reason they fell sort this year. do you think we will fall into the same trap as arsenal?

To the anonymous who wrote:
"joe cole aint going to spurs as they dont want him and have shown no interest in him what so ever! i hear that we are interested in signing Lucas Moura from sao paolo. Henderson and Downing deals to be tied up in next 48hrs. might not be announced yet though."

Lucas Moura seems to be Juventus bound if press to be believed. Besides, one Lucas is enough (no dig is meant, the lad is improving). Where's your info about Cole from? Would love to se him do an honourable thing and go back to his boyhood club West Ham to play for free and help them back into the top devision (and bl@@dy get off our wage list) he-he.

because Alonso has a place in the heart of every liverpool fan, as he was an integral part of our historic victory in Istanbul, and also Alonso was a key part of a team from 04 to 08, he left on good terms with the fans despite the fact he was treated so poorly by management, where as owen was a money grabbing whore who has no respect for our club, as he later joined the enemy;thats why.

If we get two wingers, then what system will we play? Suarez will obviously start, but do we play 4-4-2 with him and Carroll, or 4-3-3 with Suarez out on the left?

With 4-4-2, what two CMs will we use? Lucas and Meireles have been fantastic, but with a probably CM coming in and "Captain Fantastic" coming back, who will we choose? With 4-3-3, what will we do with the other winger?

Thoughts, anyone?

ed this is how i see the transfer window kk an dc pick the postions that need improving lb an the wings cm striker back up.they pick 5 players for each postion top picks an back ups.we get are ppl to put the feeliers out to that players agent on whether thier up for a move to the mighty reds!the average players like downing enrique henderson ect tell the world cause it makes them look good being liked with us, an are real targets keep thier mouths shut so not upset the move ect meriles suarez carrol in the past! do you agree? ynwa {Ed002's Note - Do I agree? No it really doesn't work like that.}

05 Jun 2011 20:47:27
Fed up hearing that this player or that player won't sign because there is no CL. Remember Dzeko, Robinho, Balotelli and Tevez all signed for Citi when there was no CL guarantee. The fact is players will sign for big wages, it's all they ever think of or talk about, so forget about altruistic players signing for CL teams..it's the cash that talks. CL just means a club's ability to pay big wages is enhanced, and those not having CL will have to invest. FSG know this. When a player turns down a club because they are not in the CL, 9 times out 0f 10 it's code for "No speako minimum wageo"

Nothing scares me more than the thought of a marquee signing a-la Citeh, except maybe that fans actually think we need such a thing. Buy quality players for the right reasons but especially don't overpay for marquee signings is the creed of FSG, KD and DC...thankfully

to be fair, clubs often bid for several players for one position to keep their options open.

I've been thinking over the last couple of days after seeing an Alonso returning rumour on here and i think he has/will re-sign for us. Firstly there is the full interview on LFCTV tonight, in which he may say something then but it is the time of the interview that gives it away for me. It is aired at 10pm, which is fairly late in the evening which coinsides with my theory. There is 20% off on the official online store but that is only until 9am tommorrow morning. So that signals to me that there is only a small window to get "Alonso" shirts for a few hours. I might be way off the mark but then again, it's something to think about. I for one will be over the moon if we re-signed him

the strange thing is exactly what i was thinking, along with the timing its the programs after... i mean last night i put it on at about 1145 and bang alonso again all his goals.

Hi Eds,

Instead of you guys having to answer question after question about the likelihood of our targets signing from desperate people, why don't you have a page with a list of all our confirmed targets, (at the very least an enquiry has been made or very strong interest in the press) with their latest rating out of ten to join and a general comments box to update any new progress. You could even incorporate a progress bar next to the player? Would also save the readers having to trawl through tedious posts all asking the same question and wanting the same info.

Thanks

TomRED {Ed002's Note - Because a large number of people don't read anything Tom. It is not worth the additional effort. We will be just deleting duplicate posts when we get busy.}

All these rumour's about alonso are boring at this stage.He will not come back to liverpool.And it is because of kenny and his cloak and dagger tactics.We have seen that over twenty years of that red nosed b------d's reign at the second best club in england and europe.(what do you think ed?) {Ed002's Note - I don't understand your post.}

if we were to consider the new FSG system of "moneyball" or buying players based on ther stats..
then i would presume we would be considering making a move for players such as (morgan amalfitano-lorient, marvin martin-sochaux ) based on ther stats both have the highest rate of successful assists for goals in the french ligue 1.
could be true? {Ed002's Note - No.}

Not a rumour but a point about FSG's possible approach to rating players. As an American who follows baseball in addition to football I can say that the spending tactics called moneyball certainly work in major league baseball. However, football is a much different game. Statistics dont have the same influence over outcomes like in baseball, one great effort from a striker can seal a victory for his side. Moneyball may prove to be effective in football as well, but it depends on measuring the right parts of the game.

Do you think city have a better chance of signing mata than Liverpool ed? {Ed002's Note - I really can't say.}

I was just thinking that if they beat us to the signature of mats then we might have more of a chance of getting A. Johnson.

Hi fellow Reds!

Would just like to say to eds that you do a fantastic job and commend your efforts for the rest of us.

In regards to transfers.. i am bitterly disappointed! Disappointed with the rumoured players (which i don't believe)

Sincerely hope we buy players who walk into our current first xi cos the above mentioned players do not fit thia category.

eds what do u think about bendtner from arsenal as our backup striker {Ed002's Note - To me I have no opinion - it just appears to be another random name pulled out of the hat I am afraid.}

Please tell me you are joking, Bendtner? He's as useful as an un-trained monkey. He's worse than N'Gog (and that's saying something)

Evenin' eds and readers !

I've been reading a few posts about Alonso returning and I'm starting to believe it myself.

1 : Reina has said he's impressed with the transfer prospects that KD and DC discussed with him and have made him excited for the summer and next season. I believe personally they told him they were going to try and get Alonso to return and get more flair with Mata.

2 : KD has said we can see some old faces back at the club this summer and its more likely that it will be former players in coach roles but 'the Liverpool way' is to go about their business privately and keep it on the down-low. This would stop newspapers and bookies catching ahold of the transfer and not including it on their betting.

3 : The interview tonight at 10pm. Since when has an interview been advertised so much unless it has been for a new manager/owners/player.
The snippet at the end does feel like a hint 'the question we've all been wanting to know, could we see Alonso in a red shirt again ?'
I reckon ( or just hoping ) that this will be where he says he is going to rejoin !

4 : He recently came out in the news and expressed why he left, like he felt he owed it to the fans. He never claimed it was the club itself and wanting to leave but felt he had to due to being unwanted. I think the only person who didn't want him was Rafa!

I'm sure i'm just getting over excited and reading too deeply into things but hey, we can all dream can't we !

Great site and thanks for posting.

Saw the under 21's this afternoon on no it was only against Norway but Henderson and Jones were amazing and I mean amazing Jones is an absolute rock just like carra great replacement for the man himself. Henderson was making runs of the attack and showed a great range of passing showing to me they are LFC quality. Thanks ed's keep up the good work.

05 Jun 2011 19:32:04
All you guys are pathetic! Do you really think that Damien Camolli and Kenny Dalglish will leak possible transfer rumours? Do you think there that stupid? Behind closed doors transfer activity is sworn to be kept quiet until a deal is agreed. Take the rumours from other clubs regarding interest very lighty more often or not Its just enquiring about the player, nothing more. Players that we have been linked with in the papers are just indirect advertising of what could happen but we all know that no one really Knows. Dont insult the King! Let him surprise you. Im the guy who said that we would have a 75 million budget and i was right. The only players i know that we are actually really going to try and sign at this present time is Charlie Adam and Juan Mata. Until then all you can do is pray we get the players you want.
But you will be surprised, guaranteed!!!

This isn't really a rumour more a question ouit of curiousity, if LFC stick
to 4-4-2 meaning there will be 2 CM at the moment Gerrard, Lucas,
Meireles, Spearing, Shelvey, Aqualani(if he doesn't go) fighting for the 2
Places and with us being linked with Henderson, Mcarthy, Adam who
Would be sold/sent on loan to make space for arrivals, surely we can't have
9 players competing for the same position, could we?

I've been thinking over the last couple of days after seeing an Alonso returning rumour on here and i think he has/will re-sign for us. Firstly there is the full interview on LFCTV tonight, in which he may say something then but it is the time of the interview that gives it away for me. It is aired at 10pm, which is fairly late in the evening which coinsides with my theory. There is 20% off on the official online store but that is only until 9am tommorrow morning. So that signals to me that there is only a small window to get "Alonso" shirts for a few hours. I might be way off the mark but then again, it's something to think about. I for one will be over the moon if we re-signed him.

***********************************
Look dude we all loved Xabi and yes he defo still cuts the mustard, but there is no way on this earth he's coming back to play for the might reds (I'm as gutted as you.)
There's a few reason why not as well. 1> He has a contract with Real and we would he to buy him back. 2> FSG wouldn't buy him cause of his age, his resale value and general price of a player of his stature (they didn't sell him Coco & Krusty did) 3> He has moved on, he's playing back in his own country for one of the biggest clubs in the world FACT!!! He may well respect LFC and hold us very dear in his heart, he's Spanish not Scouse.

So in may opinion, he's never coming back.

It would take longer than 11 hours to get a bid in for alonso, have it accepted and finalise all deals. Unless of course we have already put in a bid that has been accepted without us knowing. Has been done before [Meireles]. I think it is wishful thinking though.

selling n'gog for 5m and joe cole for 3m. that makes no sense

I can see the sense in the Cole £3m price tag....he isnt fitting in to the system and his wages and a hefty price tag would deter any suitors from buying him.

As for ngog, personally I think the guy is still a good prospect. Id at least put him out on loan to a side he will play every week for and then review the situation again next summer. He is still only 22...IF we needed the £5m to go towards a 25 goal a season player then maybe

In what world are Barcelona Valencia's rivals? I'm pretty sure Barcelona have one rival in Real Madrid, and other than that it is Espanyol, as it a local derby, Mata is a young spanish player with huge potential, and would fit in perfectly with Barcelona's footballing phillosiphy, seems perfectly possible that Mata may join Barca

strange question ed, but do you no how ryan babel performed since his move, he frustrated the hell out of me, but did show at times glimpes of quality.

To all you people who suggest these rumours, are pointless. if we sign these types of players and get rid of the waste we got in our team, its gonna make our team worst not better. and i can promise you we wont get no champions league place next season also. im a lfc fan and im not happy

Just been told by my source that we're getting Van Der Sar as back up. Also Gary Neville to get some experience in the back. Paul Scholes s coming out of retirement to fulfill his boyhood dream of playing for the reds. apparently Thierry Henry coming to finish his career as he loves the liverpool fans and the last signing we're gonna get is Salf Diaou from stoke, as he misses Anfield.
Heard it here first!

Ed why on earth would Valencia wait for Barcelona to show an interest, although you may suggest it would boost the price tag, why would they rather sell one of their best players to a rival team? And surely City's interest is enough to inflate his price already!
--------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------
Clearly you didn't see the league table at the end of the year, suggesting that Barcelona arent rivals of Valencia is barbaric, perhaps not main rivals, but still rivals, as are spuds or Gooners with us. Think about it and read what I actually wrote, I never said Mata would not fit in with Barca, only that i didn't understand why Valencia would WAIT for Barcelona to make a bid, it makes no sense. Maybe Mata might want the move but why would Valencia prefer him to go there.

{Ed002's Note - I guess if you are right then Liverpool will tie him down today or tomorrow then?}

Does anyone agree with these Cattermole rumours gathering a bit of pace that he should be kept as far away from a Liverpool shirt as possible.From M.Villa to Matudi to Catermole, he's just a filthy player who puffs his chest out like he thinks he's the next Makelele, passing weak, shooting weak, pace so so, tackling cruel, what if some one rips a season ticket up when he's clean through on goal if that was ever likely to happen, he'd just freeze and burst into tears.He's not a poor mans Maschereno, he's one Javier's clipped toe nails.Out of all the players we've been linked with and i mean all, i'd be the most devastated if he came be it 10p for him, never mind 10 mil thats been quoted.How can his valuation be the same as Charlie Adam is beyond me.Johnny Boy6

with the Gervinho rumours having gone quiet is it "official" that liverpool have confimed an interest in Monacos benjamin moukandjo. (only 22 and values in the couple million bracket) as third striker.
His market value is progressing upwards over the kast 3 years> Euro papers are statinh he is flattered to be "linked" with us.

@lfc_daily_news have just tweeted a rumour that Kaka is flying in for chats for a reported £30 million pound move. If true its s big money risk for a crocked knee player

mrs ngog
--------------------------------------------------------------

twitter page mentioned doesnt exist. cant see kaka joining liverpool. as a liverpool fan i wouldnt like to see kaka at the KOP anyway, slow, injury prone and past his potential.
would love to see poulson ngog cole and shelvey out with henderson comin in to do shelveys job warming the bench. henderson is for the future so people moanin about him not bein a big talent. same rule applies with carroll. both players will show their worth. i agree 20 million is steep for henderson i would pay 10-15. great prospect though

Carragher to retired

Hopefully Liverpool can bring in good players for replacement and promoted our youngsters for first team...

See you Joe Cole, unfortunately you were crap for us. If you didn't have the injuries, you could have been a great player. Have fun at spurs.

hi my neighbours cousin has been pointing kennys brickwork last week and he got some info, kenny told him that the big signings are coming from spain and we wont be paying over the odds for english players unless they have potential and patience to play in the reserves like the old days when you learnt the liverpool way ! He also said that the owners are keen to get the biggest stars from abroad to increase exposure in the far east !

I'm a Liverpool fan from Norwich.
I watched the England u21 v Romania u21's at Carrow road back in october. I was hoping to see Kelly play but Stuart Pearse had other idea's and left him on the bench. But Henderson did play and he was the best player on the park by a mile and rightly got the man of the match award. His passing was great and he seemed to have so much time on the ball in the crowded centre midfield area of the pitch. (Just like Alonso, Molby and Barnes when he moved to centre mid under Evans). England had a strong team out that day with Wilshire, Sturidge, Smalling, etc. At the time i thought he looked a class act in the making and on that sort of form i would like to see him in a red shirt next season.

KK has spoken of the right blend of players that would compliment each other. So I think Mata would be pivotal. Firstly he would give us width & creativity on the left. Keeping in mind that Suarez likes to drop deep & drift to the left then Mata can utilize the space in the whole behind Carroll. He can even switch wings wit the right winger (Young/Perotti?).
I see Carroll as a target man who will head the opportunities back down into the path of on coming players. He has proven that he knows were the goal is also.
As for centre mids we don't need a tricky one who dribbles in the midfield. We need some one to win the ball & pass it. Thats it. We don't need any maestros taking chances in front of 18 yard box.

I'm really starting to worry about peoples expectations for next year, it IS going to take a bit of time to build the team we want, yes we may well make top 4 next season, but is there a possibility that some of the less gracious fans of this club would turn on KK if we don't win the league? i'm starting to get that impression from a few posts i've read.

05 Jun 2011 14:52:30
I see time and again that we are linked to all these superstars with the ego's and this for me would be the wrong path to go down.

We need to build a team, a group of players that will give their all whether we are playing at Old Trafford or Loftus Road in the cup. We already have seen how destabilising a sulky superstar can be and how that can affect the whole team performance.

We need good youth players that can be trained in the LFC mould, such as the lads that came through and did such an excellent job for us this season (Kelly, Flanno, Robbo) not too many of the older so called players that have not been trained in the liverpool way, and cannot adapt.

In regards to the fact people say that players wont come because we dont have CL football, players we want must also have the ambition and vision to see beyond 1 season and the will to get us back where we belong, challenging for titles and trophies on all fronts for years to come.

Just my thoughts, feel free to agree or disagree, but it wont change the facts that Kenny will build a squad, not a galacticos type situation where they played fancy football but really didnt win that much for all the money they spent.

Hi Eds,
Yes i agree Citeh were able to attract top quality players and they didn't have Champions league , but that was to do with the fact they offered them a lorry load of cash to play for them! Yes we can offer players our amazing history and a plan to buy into, but any of transfer targets cud easily persuaded by a team with champions leagues spot to join them, maybe this is was not made clear in my earlier post.

For example, Man United are alledgly interested in Jordan Henderson. Say it came down to it, would Henderson rather have a chance to play In champs league than play for us, I am just saying it's a pretty important bargaining tool, we don't even have European football to offer, I want KK to sign world class players, but I wouldn't be shocked or disappointed why players would choose another club

05 Jun 2011 14:37:41
Juan Mata now odds on with Sky Bet at 8/11..... Other players odds on to join are Adam 1/2, Downing 1/3 and Barton 2/5

Make of it what you will but the bookies (more often than not) usually get things right.

I would expect at least 2 of the 4 to join, preferably Mata and Adam

I HAVE great respect for the achievements of Bob Paisley and he is rightly considered one of Britain's greatest managers - equalled by Jock Stein and slightly in the shade of what Brian Clough achieved at Derby County and then Nottingham Forest - however the position of Britain's greatest manager must rest with Sir Alex Ferguson, and his failure to win the Champions League against the greatest team ever does not diminish this.

Paul Forsyth's suggestion (Scotland on Sunday, 29 May) that Ferguson is still chasing Bob Paisley is somewhat lazy journalism. In terms of European football's top prize, we must acknowledge that Paisley has three wins and Ferguson two, but that is where the comparison ends. Ferguson has won the Champions League twice - a far more demanding test of greatness than that of winning the European Cup (with no slight intended to the great achievement of Glasgow Celtic).

In winning the European Cup three times between 1977 and 1981, Paisley's achievement is worthy of the plaudits it receives, but it is worth noting that in doing this Liverpool overcame a total of 14 sides, with only Crusaders, FC Zurich, Benfica, Aberdeen and CSKA Sofia defeated both home and away.

An away-goals victory over Bayern Munich and the 1981 final victory over Real Madrid were the only successes against clubs with notable European track records - ironically two teams defeated by Fergie's victorious Aberdeen team en route to their European Cup-Winners' Cup triumph in 1983.

Bear in mind also that as Paisley never won the FA Cup, he is not even close to Sir Alex who has three doubles and one treble on his record.

So whilst I would always offer praise to Bob Paisley and his great Liverpool side, I believe that, with 12 English Premierships to his name and having won both league championships and European trophies with Aberdeen (and a First Division championship with St Mirren) on this side of the Border, Ferguson must be now declared indisputably the greatest-ever British football manager. How many fans do Liverpool have? 12 million maybe, there are probably more fans in the world but if the Liverpool staff would make a charitable fund and there are maybe 12 millions of fans who could afford giving 10 pounds to the charitable fund we would come out with a 120 million pounds for the transfer window plus sales and plus money KK gets which is more than enough. We could sign Aguero, Mata, Ashley Young, Cissokho, we could sign whoever we like. {Ed002's Note - No really a charity in its purest form is it.}

-------------------------------------

Actually i think you'll be pretty surprised to hear that all professional football clubs around the world already have a system like this in place, yes that's right, every home game teams play they offer the sale of tickets for us, the punters to go and watch the team, then they sell merchandise, you may have seen examples of this called "replica jerseys" and "coffee mugs". quite savvy some of these football clubs.

Hi ed I believe Robbie Keane has unfinished business at Liverpool, he was treated very badly by Rafa and was not given a fair chance, I know he does not fit into the (young up and coming talent criteria)but every squad needs experienced players and i believe he would be a good choice as a third striker.Any Thoughts? I think people are being pessimistic when it comes to signings. Reina and mata etc would not be impressed with a few young lads or some average perm players joining so they must have big targets. And dalgish said he would only buy quality. Liverpool are buying for the future, but we ate also buying for the short term because we want success now.

Kenny Is Just bidding for Henderson to Put pressure on Alex ferguson as they dont have cash for Young , Henderson , Adam all in one go he knows Henderson will go to Mancs but is making him have to pay more and disstract from young or adma {Ed002's Note - Such an approach is a great way for Liverpool to put themselves in a position where no one will take the club seriously or deal with them. The club would very quickly become a laughing stock and have to pay well over the odds to avoid being seen to be screwing folks around. It seems unlikely that this is the approach the management are taking.}

Thanks Ed002 - you seem to be the most knowledgable Ed on here.
I am Irish, so I know we have been linked with Long, Keane & McGeady but I do not think any of them are good enough for us. Oul red nose seems to have henderson sewn up but I do believe McCarthy is an excellant prospect for the future. There is plenty of speculation but do you know who we have ACTUALLY bid for?
Also the thorny issue of the stadium.Can we expect news on the owners plans for same anytime soon?

Hey guys, love the site I'm up to all hours of the night reading your posts. Got a question for the eds, how much money do you think Liverpool will spend this summer? I Know we have been linked to loads of players and that's all great news but how much do you think they will go up to? Can you see us spending up to 100 mil this summer? {Ed002's Note - No idea at all, sorry.}

hey ed, just wondering about joe cole . ive heard alot that he will go to spurs depending on a medical but im irish so i have to ask your opinion about a swap deal for keane who last night scored his 50th and 51st goal for ireland

tomo , dublin {Ed002's Note - An interesting thought Tomo - would Keane move back to Liverpool? Would the fans want him back? I don't know.}

I for one would be happy to take Robbie Keane back as a back up striker to Suarez and Carroll. I don't think he had a fair crack of the whip during those 6 months he was with us for and I don't think he was a Rafa signing, I think Rick Parry signed him behind . Rafa's back. Could this be the main reason behind Rafa wanting full control of transfers?

Keane would be a quality back up striker, and at the age of 30, he needs to understand that he would be a back-up striker at any top 6 club, if he still holds the ambition to play at the top level.
Yes he's getting on a bit, but a quality finisher, still got pace and good strength. Man Utd have Berbatov and Owen who are both 30/31, Chelsea have Anelka and Drogba who are 32/33 so why not? The owners might have a policy of signing players under the age of 26 or whatever, but if a player who is proven in league and is willing to join as back-up then why not?

Much better striker than David Ngog who couldn't finish a roast dinner let alone a goal!

*O'dell-Boy.

why the worry bout the mobility of charlie adam cos he's not a box to box player, a certain jan molby was of the same build and style and he never found it a problem in the eyes of all red fans, he wasnt bought for his running ability, no need when u could just stand in the middle and dictate a game with your passing ability and thats what he did, the same as adam would do if kk got him in, have faith think he knows what he's doing.ynwa great site eds.thanks.

Hi Eds,
Why is it too simplistic to say that the likes if Benzema, Cissokho and other players who have champions league football next or other teams can offer champions league football instead of us, would choose them instead of lfc? We have to be realistic, I'd love to have these players been mentioned but we cant offer them the chance to play on the grandest stage of them all in club football. I tried making this point earlier in response to another poster but u opted not to post it

This is not an ove simplistic view, but a realisation of the truth, who would u rather join , Man City , Chelsea, arsenal or united , who can offer champions league , where u can play on the biggest stage of all or Liverpool, where the biggest stage next season a carling cup fixture or fa cup fixture!

I don't wish to offend any Eds or fell
ow posters with this, but I think we should be a tad more realistic!

Please post to rumours

Instead of signing all these overpriced british players we should be looking at the folowing who only have a year lefton their contract and would be able to be bought at a cut down price and have a sell on price in the future, which suits owners policy, enrique 7mil, artour vidal 7mil, rene adler 7mil, jeremey menez 6mil, clichy 6mil, gervinho 9mil, kevin gameiro, 8mil, mertasacker 8mil, diego alves 4mil, rami 5mil, dzagoev 5mil, barnetta 4mil, ninis 4mil, vukcevic 3mil, ederson 5mil, wijnaldum 3mil, guardardo 4mil, roger johnson 5mil, scott dann 5mil, budabuz 4mil, jeffren 6mil, dos santos (cole swap), Nzogbia 8mil, hoilett 5mil, amir zaki 3mil, im jus saying these would be better options as squad players than the others and spend the big money on the players expected to start

Obviously LFC have been linked with over 100 players this summer but I bet we are going for quality players. Week in and week out we are linked with several players, all in the quest to divert other clubs attention to our main targets. Expect Liverpool FC to sign the following players:

Charlie Adam, Ashley Young, Emilio Izaguirre and Charles N'zogbia

and out will be Ngog, Joe Cole, Jovanovic, Poulsen and Aurelio.

Young players from the academy will be given first team chance and also use them as a back up for the first team players.

...........................

The expect LFC to sign players you have listed here are not top quality I think you need to re think your list or maybe rename it as average players LFC will sign ?

'ED ... Why are some fans saying "Mata is going to be unveiled as a Liverpool player July 1st" ?'

It's not just the fans fella, Skybet have Mata at 8/11 to join us before the end of the window. I'm not saying it's a definite but they wouldn't be offering odds-on lightly. Interestingly though, they have us to get Downing at 1/3 and Barton at 2/5.

The Booter {Ed002's Note - The odds are based on bets placed. Who is leading contenda to be the next Liverpool manager on there at present? Martin O'Neill at 4/1. So I would not read too much in to it.}

the only clarke there gonna have at chelsea is clarkes shoes when roman gets bored an h***s off in a few years because they havent won the CL {Ed002's Note - Abramovic is one of the longest serving owners in the EPL.}

Why are we being linked with average players?? We won't progress unless we get some real class! I'm all for signing young promising talent but we need to be back in the top 4 and challenging for the title next season! Get a quality LWB, AM, DM and another Forward and then set up similar to Barcalona. What you reckon?

Hi Ed, why are spam chasing all of our targets? Young, Adam, Henderson all linked with them. Is this a ploy by them to inflate the price of our targets, or are they running scared of kk so are trying to stop us getting the players we need to mount a challenge?

Hey ed, last night on way home after a night out on the town I couldn't remember where I lived, so I went into this very gothic looking building and asked if I could use the phone...and the lady of the manor was obviously very tired as she was in her underwear.

Now as you know whilst I found this very much a beautiful sight I was also aware that mixing alcohol into the blood stream affect the libido etc so I wasn't going to make a pass at the lovely lady and let her feel disappointed because of the side affects and dangers of drinking.

Anyway I noticed that because we were talking quite loudly at this time a lot of her sisters and maybe some of her friends were being awoken because they seemed to be making a lot of groaning sounds..and they were scantily clad ladies as well(at least the ones I saw)

But then this young ladies father woke up and rather than shout he seemed to be embarrassed and when he saw that I had a nikon camera on me he said you haven't seen me, don't tell the press anything etc...anyway it was then that I realised it was avram grant!! By jove what a nice family he seems to have I thought..

And then this lady called jezabelle came out and said to her dad(avram) that he was making to much noise and that Sergio would be awake soon as he was going to travel to Liverpool the following morning.

Draw your own conclusions my friends...but do you really think Sergio could be coming to Liverpool to make a new western? And how come avram has so many daughters?

for all the people saying we r gonna get the likes of ali cisokko, benzema, higuian its not gonna happen for one simple reason: champions leauge football. these players wont want to drop down, and if they did move they would move to a team europe. we should get players like
phil jones, *
jordan henderson, *
marveraux, *
scott dann, *
charlie adam,
bobby zamora?????
charles nzogbia*
matt jarvis

they players with * are the ones I"d personally like to see at LFC.
do you agree ed? {Ed002's Note - Sorry, but no. It is not simply a case of not having Champions League football. Any transfer requires the selling club to want to let the player go and the player to want to make the move. It is over simplifying matters to simply suggest that Higuain, Benzema et al are not moving to Liverpool because of the Champions League.}

Well Ed your saying the poster is over simplifying it, well it's the truth, I think some posters and Eds, no offence are over complicating, we can't offer champions league football that the likes of Benzema, Cissokho et all have on offer at the moment. It's unfortunate but true and the poster is suggesting we should be realistic in who we want and who we can actually get,

Pepe reina, xabi alonso, sami hyypia, hamann, berger, dirk kuyt, mascherano, the list goes on and on. Excellent players and how many of them were "marque signings"? This is liverpool, not man city or chelsea. We take good players, make them great and turn them into legends. And who better than king kenny to do it? Bottom line is we dont need "marque" whatevers. Il take charlie adam, nzogbia, jarvis, henderson because if they are good enough for the king, they are good enough for me. But please, NOT DOWNING! Just my 5 cents.

Hi eds, first post. Great site btw. Have been reading the posts on this site daily. Anyway, i know the KK and DC will be doing all they can to get quality players in but it all seems to be planning for the future rather than looking at getting ourselves back on our perch (currently occupied by the spam). I see in the news and tabloids all the big names that Man Utd, City, etc are going for and then I look at some of the names we are linked with and I think, where is the ambition? I know we don't need to be looking at world class players but I think if we have the money and that player meets the requirements of player that Liverpool fc and the owners have set, then we should be going out there throwing our weight around and mixing with the big boys.

Lets be honest, are Enrique or cattermole good enough?? Nope but we have been linked to them. We have been linked to some very good players like Mata but the majority of players we have been linked to are either average or ones for the future. For the future is good but we also need to be investing for the present too!.

Anyway great site! {Ed002's Note - Well if it goes horribly wrong the fans can take it up with the management team, until then I guess they should eb given a chance.}

do you realy think that enrique, nzogbia, downing, jones, wicham wil secure us champions league place in next season...some of this players are weri good potentials but wee need 1st team plazers like mata, coentrao, perotti, skho and others.....

Why don't we get robbie keane back as a back up to carroll and suarez as i feel he wasn't given a chance first time around. I know he's 31 in july but has an eye for goal like against macadonia last night 52 international goals is a fair achievement. at the end of the day it doesnt matter the opposition the ball has to be put in the net. Please post in rumours page ed.

05 Jun 2011 11:15:27
Good morning all, I have been watching all of the rumours/banter on here with much excitement and dread. It does worry me the absurd wish lists that some people come up with. I am a great believer in looking forward and not relying on history but I really do think the best signing we could make this summer (bar Mata) would be the return of Xabi Alonso. He brings the best out in Stevie and his vision and passing are second to none. Having him in the squad may limit the youngsters chances to start with but what a role model to learn from. He is a calming influence on the pitch and is a consumate professional. Most importantly he knows what it means to play for us and has bags of experience to help us get back to where we should be and if memory serves me correctly we finished 2nd just before he left. I don't think anything will be announced in his interview tonight but if it is I for one will be having a very Happy Monday.

I'm in no doubt of the fact the whiskey drinking Manc prick will get Henderson he will give his bum buddy Bruce whatever he wants in order to kill off Liverpool. Also I'm sure Henderson would not have a choice in the matter. Wondered how long it would be until slur did something to piss me off over transfers

Hi Ed's,

How is it that all the bigger named players that have been touted around with the club have now gone quite?

Were now being linked with players that in my opinion that are average and very over priced.

To spend the kind of money that sunderland are after for Henderson and Ipswich wan't for Wickham is ridiculous.

why are all english players over priced.

05 Jun 2011 11:10:07
I don't think we should by a ''big name'' striker I think munian would be a great buy then next season we can have a good quartet with Suarez Carroll kuyt and munian as our striker options then spend most of our money on wingers

My opinion

Aguero deal is almost certainly off.

Liverpool have a wage budget of 120K per player (maximum) and Kun wants at least 180k

FSV are prepared to offer the £39M required but if Kun does not budge on his wages we have no chance.

This is all coming from a very reliable source

Please post in the rumors section

Thanks, James.

---------------------------------------------------

So not true .... FSV will blow the budget to get such talent into the club, not too many players are worth anywhere near 120k but there would be an exception to certain talent!!

05 Jun 2011 11:04:33
the type of players we need have to come with the right attitude and be able to put a shift in, of course they need to have ability aswell but this can be worked on.Liverpool has no room for passengers so weather they cost £100k or £50m or come from Hartlepool or Barcelona as long as they come to play and emerge themselves in the true Liverpool way then they will be welcome and with KK will no doubt bring success.

every one is wondering why we need more centre mid's well at the mo we have gerrad lucas spearing and mirieless (spelling) with cole and poulson going and maybe shevlery on loan that 4 ant really gonna do much what again if gerrad gets injured then down to 3 we need depth thats why tottenham and man city have beat us to 4th over the last two years we need a big squad what if kk wants to play 433 for a few weeks and we only have 3 fit frist team mid's what if two of them 4 get injured really think about it before you start asking why?

How many fans do Liverpool have? 12 million maybe, there are probably more fans in the world but if the Liverpool staff would make a charitable fund and there are maybe 12 millions of fans who could afford giving 10 pounds to the charitable fund we would come out with a 120 million pounds for the transfer window plus sales and plus money KK gets which is more than enough. We could sign Aguero, Mata, Ashley Young, Cissokho, we could sign whoever we like. {Ed002's Note - No really a charity in its purest form is it.}

I've got to say im annoyed by posters saying we should sign joe foreigner because they have more talent than an already proven premier league player!

I read a post about a left back who is world class and would be a great signing and a french midfielder who is quality and cheaper!

i would like to know whether they are just spending to much time on football manager 2011 and are just looking at his stats etc or are you watching these players week in week out????

What is to say that they arrive and cant cut the pace, physical side of the premier league? Are you fools then gonna blame King kenny for not buying a proven young premier league player.

My understanding from interviews from the King is actually when we have something to announce we will!! Not the rumours in the back of the daily rags

i for one will trust the signings of the King and Liverpool

Hi
I have a question if we sign both Mata and Vargas they will surely start in our starting 11. So can a team play with LWB and LW at the same time? doesnt it weaken our deffence? Plz answer this.. {Ed002's Note - Of course they can play with both - Chelsea have been doing it with Cole and Malouda as an example.}
-----------------------------------------------------
Yes mate, but johnson is more of a RWB too.. and dani alves of barcelona is RWB.. also the old Sergio Ramos played RWB.

Two strikers with a CF
WIngers
CM
LWB and RWB
Its a tottaly attacking team. Coz according to our target our formation may look like this, Can it be a sucess? {Ed002's Note - My understanding was, based on targets, the formation would be: GK, LB, LB, LB, LB, LW, LW, LW, LW, LW, LW.}

Ricky Van Wolfswinkel signed for Sporting Lisbon for just 5.3 million.....Why didn't we take a gamble on him....

MarkoLFC85 {Ed002's Note - So how many players should Liverpool take a gamble on? I recommend dropping a note to Mssrs Comolli and Dalglish telling them you are unhappy with their performance so far; and why not give them a list of players you want them to buy?}

i am starting to get annoyed now, yes we need to buy young english players, however we need 2 win the league, this better not be another 5 year plan, hence we need a couple of inpact players ie mata turan ang higuain, let these young players go suchas henderson as we have sterling, suso, coady, and the young prolific striker we have, i relise we need strength in depth however how are these players mentioned going to win the league, i am not happy and if fellow liverpool fans think they wud not be either, dont 4get fsg not spent a penny on transfers yet- we need a marquee signing signalling our intent else we are going to miss out on the likes of hazzad, mvilla and disapoiningly aguero

What do we think of signing Eriksen from Ajax? Surely if we can offload Poulsen and Aquilani he would be a much better addition for the forward playing central midfielder than the likes of Diego.

These are the players I hope we are in for in order of preferance:

Mata
Eriksen
Vargas
Sahko

If we could get one of them it would be a brilliant summer, imagine next year if we could get all x4, I think with the exception of Eriksen whom I believe has publically stated he does not want to leave Ajax in the short-term (but money and our determination could change all that), I think we would make a lot of other teams sit up and take notice.

Swansea have asked to loan Jonjo Shelvey and/or Danny Wilson for the season as they look to reinforce for life in the premiership. I'm welsh supporter of both teams and I've strong ties with the coaching staff and scouting department of Swansea.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Being a Liverpool and Cardiff City fan I hope we don't give the Jacks anyone. I hope they are the first team to be relegated without one point in the premiership but I would be absolutely gutted if I saw any Liverpool players in their kit.
On a brighter note, when do you think the first signings will be announced Eds? Adam is being quoted as a done deal, as is Young Downing etc, surely if they were done deals, since the transfer window is open, would they not be Liverpool players by now? Great site as always

Rumour has it that we are on the verge of signing Jordan Henderson for 16m. In my humble opinion, if KK LFC believes we are being ripped off for 10m Charlie Adam then its abundantly clear that Henderson is overpriced by double at least.

I cannot understand how we are willing to pay 16m for Jordan and not 10 for Charlie.

Sad times if we miss out on Adam, he is tailor made to feed Carroll from set pieces.

Please, sombody answer: eds or other readers/posters. Why isn't Johnson played as a right winger? I remember him playing there at Portsmouth and he was great. A lot of supporters have been talking about it, as well as ex Liverpool players for a long time. But neither Hodgson nor KK ever played him there??? And both would rather stick Meireles on the right..? Why?
Thanks.

Joe Cole is believed to be earning in excess of £90,000 a week, despite being reduced to only 1662 minutes of football in a Liverpool jersey. That figure means that the cameo player has cost the club £2470 for each minute played; or in broader terms, £4.1M for his time at Anfield.

Selling him for 3 million would be wise unless we could get around 4 or 5 million and break even!

Having billionaire owners doesn't mean the club will be allowed to spend more than it makes once the fairplay rules kick in. They are due to start this year. Keep in mind that the LFC fanbase is one of the largest in the world which enables us to sell more shirts etc. Our shirt deals & us being nearly debt free should help our net earning & enable us to be very competitive in the transfer market. We also have a youth program which should save us millions. So let's put the sheikh rumours to bed. Eds, correct me if I'm wrong. {Ed001's Note - the sheikh rumour was just a joke someone sent in, it was clearly totally tongue in cheek.}

Hi eds, do you think Jo from city would be an option for a 3rd striker? was brilliant for CSKA. He never plays at city and they will probably sell him in the summer. He is also still only 24. What do you think Eds? Cheers (please post in rumours) {Ed013's Note - No he has not proved himself in the prem with man city}

Thanks for the reply mate, however you could say that he hasnt really had much chance. Also you could say that about any player that is signed from outside the prem, ie suarez, people could have said, dont sign him as he's not proven in the prem. {Ed013's note - but I mean he played in the prem before and did not prove himself suarez had not played in the prem before}

Cheers again for reply mate, i see what you mean, but i mean that, as you say he's not proven in the prem, it sort of makes me think that no player should be signed unless they are a top prem striker. But i do understand where your coming from in the face that he wasnt great when he did play. Also what players are bieng linked for the 3rd striker role, or do you think they will use Kuyt and keep Pacheco also? cheers mate, thanks for the responses. {Ed002's Note - Kuyt will be used but I suspect Pacheco will leave.}

By no means am I keeping my fingers crossed for Jo to join Liverpool, but I just wanted to point something out. Jo not being impressive with Man City doesn't necessarily prove he's not worth a look. If Torres moved straight from Atl. Madrid to Chelsea where would he be right now? Probably playing for a Championship team in a relegation battle! It is possible that Jo could flourish and become a world beater under Dalglish at LFC. That being said, I strongly doubt Jo will be a world beater! {Ed001's Note - Jo has spent time out on loan and been abysmal every time, he is not good enough.}

I hope FSG don't conglomerate with those Sheikhs. I'd rather us pay from our own back pocket than lose all soul and become another Man City. {Ed002's Note - But if Sheikh Yerbouti can bring much needed transfer funding, surely it has to be a good thing?}

When we had LFC reps watching Benfica during the season are we 100% sure it was to watch Coentrao, there is a wealth of players we could have been watching.
The likes of Javi Garcia(DM), Nicolas Gaitan(LM) and a very bright young prospect i've been watching in the toulon international in Roderick Miranda.

Finally we are now liked with Aly cissokho, what do you think ed if pool were serious about him would he be a good addition, would he take Kelly, s place? thanks

hibsylfc {Ed001's Note - he is a left back, so he would not be taking Kelly's place! Excellent player from what I have seen of him, he has been my first choice buy for the role all along.}

"guy i have just been looking on FSG web site and it says LeBron James has bought a stake in Liverpool so it looks like they might be looking for more investors it might not be Sheikh Mohammed but we are looking"

Actually that's old news...Lebron James invested a small amount but the deal is more about branding compatriots, i.e., it's good for brand Lebron in SE Asia and good for brand LFC in the USA...it's more about generated sales and perception than financial partnership.

To the gentleman who said this:

guy i have just been looking on FSG web site and it says LeBron James has bought a stake in Liverpool so it looks like they might be looking for more investors it might not be Sheikh Mohammed but we are looking

It is not uncommon at all for big name celebrities in the US to invest into sports teams. James isn't the only one. If you look at the Miami Dolphins, they show Venus and Serena Williams, Fergie from The Black Eyed Peas, Gloria Estefan, Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez as part owners. LeBron James is a positive to have attached to LFC because he is a big draw in the US and has been wearing our apparel in post-game press conferences lately and speaking to the media very highly about LFC and his affections for us. More will follow, I'm sure, and it can't be a bad thing, especially if the Miami Heat win the NBA Championship and he wears something Liverpool branded for the post-game interviews...

This is for all the people who read the Daily Mail's sh*t and put it up here as "rumours". This is their "exclusive" they had on 24th May 2011

"Brad Friedel will re-join Liverpool after rejecting offers from West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa to remain in the Midlands.

The veteran keeper has agreed a two-year deal with Kenny Dalglish to be Pepe Reina's understudy"

Blair Mayne YNWA

Ps. Sorry for pasting ED, but it had to be done.

{Ed002's Note - Blair if all rumours come true then LIverpool will have every left back and left wing in Europe on their books.}

A strong rumour doing the rounds that Liverpool have agreed a fee for both Henderson and wickham, I don't know if it's 100% true but the sources seem to be very reliable in the past!

trying to work out what names kk has told reina we r buying to keep him at anfield. it cant be just the names regularly been published at moment from sunderland, wigan, villa etc. my feeling is the marquee signings will be spanish therefore i can see both mata and alonso signing. Add to them downing, jones, wickham and henderson for the future would be excellent summer.
i would love alonso or mata however how do we know names where mentioned to pepe how could you guarantee the players would want to come i think more likely a rough figure was quoted which would of reassured him of our intent hope im wrong and they showed him a list of several world class players but................

I believe we have made serious developments with some transfer targets, yes the same names keep cropping up but surely that is down to the fact that we are negotiating for these players. With the view that Henderson and N'Zogbia are potentially LFC players now, which I personally think is really positive.

I believe, in my opinion, that Mata and Young and Enrique are almost, ALMOST Liverpool players. I think before the end of this month, any transfer from another prem. club to us will be announced before, 1st July. Purely because Kenny wants a full pre-season with the new signings. Then come 1st July, LFC goes continental and that is when I believe we start seriously making statements, not only to the PL, but the whole of Europe.

And finally in the words of Maverick Sabre "I feel it coming in the air", I have a sneaking feeling that a certain "Kun" maybe our outside bet, our "where the f*** did that come from" signing. The noises coming from Spain, suggest he is on his way to Real. But I don't, not for one minute believe, that if we offer Athletico the right price, he will be an LFC player. It is all about getting the most out of a squad. And I don't care that he is on ridiculous wages. The message from Kenny will be clear, play for LFC and you make history and win big with the TEAM. The Liverpool squad needs depth and depth in numbers, any top quality reinforcements are welcome.

Lets get rid of the deadwood, and win the PL next season! :)

I dont understand why we just dont make A. Cissokho our no.1 Left-Back target. He is much better than all of the others we are linked with. Is there any reason why he wouldn't join us ed?

Thanks. {Ed001's Note - because Lyon are pigs about transfers and make it very difficult, and extremely expensive, to buy any of their players.}
