So With The Rumors We Can Gather These Will Be Our Signings;

-Gylfi Sigurdsson(Attacking Midfielder)
-Mohamed Diame(Defensive Midfielder)
-Victor Moses(Winger)
-Clint Dempsey(Striker)

Really Looking Forward To Next Season To See What Rodgers Can Do With These.

Sigurdson, diame and moses are not good enough and dempsey said he wants champions league football

They probably weren't good enough for a previous team but right now, they what we're aiming for sadly.

I know i am not the only person who feels this way, in fact someone wrote earlier, but i have to say i feel Torres is spoken about in a really bad way but i do not think he wronged LFC at all? He was a great servant and i'm sure he had been promised some world class players coming in by the then complete WA****S we had at the time.
I think he tried hard not to speak out of turn but after he left i actually felt sorry for him and was a little embarrassed he got booed by our supporters, especially as they also had to take crap from the same WA****S we had at the time.

What about Gerrard??
He is born and bread Liverpool and was off to Chelsea at one point. He didnt go but that was forgotten quickly and i was more shocked he considered it then torro leaving

gareth

Call yourself a fan. torres forced his way out of liverpool, the coward held us to ransom on the last day of the transfer window and forced our hand, he also said some very bad things to the backroom staff and spoke bad about the club, he will never come back and in my opinion will never be welcome

big red g

Stop going on about this guy, WHO CARES?? He plays for Chelsea get over it and stop living in the past!

MR EM

Also suarez was bought to play alongside him, not as a replacement, if he had been a bit more patient they would have been deadly

big red g

Even though he forced his way out of the club you can't blame him for wanting to win trophies, you have to remember we did not win anything during his spell at the club

He had asked them to consider the Chelsea offer which had been hanging around for awhile and was forced to make it happen on the last day of the season, he spoke bad to the backroom staff? I never heard about that.....whats your source?
Suarez is better and El Nino is having a miserable time, i dont blame him for what he did a players career isnt long and Liverpool were going backwards so i wouldnt blame him for leaving......saying that I love to watch him suffer at Chelsea. I would like to see him back to his best in the future cause on form he is great to watch but i would rather watch it if his was playing in Spain or some other league when i dont care who wins.

Easy BIG RED G FAN!

i was just saying from my point of view. I was gutted about timing when he left also but i have no idea what Torres said to back staff etc, if anything? I honestly do not know everything about what happened just what is obvious. BUt Gerrard proposed move didnt seem to upset many did it. What if he had gone to Chelsea? Would you think that was eh okay?

Lets stop picking names at random and re-cycling old rumours - Yes, many of the names mentioned may have been on the hit list under the previous management team, but surely, with the new manager, everything changes!

To play the way Rogers wants, we require a certain type of player, and a lot of the players mentioned on here simply do not fit the bill - I firmly believe we will not see ANY so called big names being signed, but individuals who have the desire to work for the club and the team - Individuals can win odd games, but teams win titles and cups, and thats what we want and need.

Carroll will be shipped out - Personally, I rate him, but his touch is simply not good enough and that goes for Skrtel as well, plus Carra will see little or no first team footie - Cole, Maxi and the Aqua man will feature and excel under the new boss, as will Downing and Adam.

Since when was Skrtel's touch not that good? And also since when was his touch more important than his defending ability? We still have to defend you know...

Is this the same Skrtl who beat Shelvey and Downing in keepy uppy then ?

Skrtl has real class both in the air and on the ground and was rightly voted our player of the season.

Get a grip will you please.....

Long shot maybe but would we have a chance of signing:

Javi Martinez
Younes Belhanda
Yann M'Vila

This would allow Gerrard room to burst forward and play killer passes to Suarez!

Cheers - great site!

Am I the only person that doesn't want Dempsey at the club? I think he is over rated and just looks like a star cos he is at fulham who have no talent. He is also quite now an we should be lookin to buy players for the future. Also I think Dempsey would want high wages if he went to a big club. Another Charlie Adam in my opinion.

Personally I think we should sign siqurdsson, soldado, boudebouz and Adam Johnson. They are realistic and would be cheaper not demanding high wages and lets be honest all you people sayin how about cavani, lavezzi, higuian, robben etc is so unrealistic and you need to realise that.
PEACE.

I hate this big fish in small pond thing, it's stupid; look at Scott Parker, he moved into 'a bigger pond' and improved. All football players start in a small pond and progress up, just because Charlie couldn't handle the pressure of LFC doesnt mean it happens to everyone. Furthermore a common arguement is that messi is useless without xavi and Inesta, yet if someone is with worse players it makes them appear better, that does not add up.

Parker moved to chelski and face planted! What u on about?

08 Jun 2012 22:27:44
Last summer i read an article about a possible move to nani. The journalist had hacked kenny's phone and found out that he was to meet nani's agent in a cafe in liverpool. Unfortuanately nothing ever materialised. Now i know it is extremely unlikely he will move to liverpool can you see nani leavingmanchester this summer.

Rays Of Red

08 Jun 2012 21:44:40
Well after that game... I now want Dzagoev at Liverpool, what a little livewire!! Brendan, Brendan sign him up, wouldn't mind Lewandowski also.

Lincolnred1892

What a great idea...due diligence is so passe and overrated. Much better to adopt a rash, knee-jerk approach to signing players based on a minimal sample size of games or in this case a sample size of...one game!

Yeah! More irrational decision making is just what LFC need.

Hmmmmm...wait a second...isn't that precisely how we blew 35 mill on Carroll?...and another ridiculous whack of cash on Henderson?...and so on and so on...

08 Jun 2012 21:44:39
Hey Macca, it's all gone quiet over there. Any news chap?

Anything?

08 Jun 2012 21:44:06
the eds heads are going to be wrecked with the euros and erverybody saying are we linked to every tom dick and harry they see play good for 90mins and not 40 to 50 games in a season. get a grip lads......

08 Jun 2012 21:40:21
Here we go everyone MOTD fever is about to go viral we will be linked to every Russian player now

Red End

Ed's you ready for all the match of the day fever posts? Should be fun.

08 Jun 2012 21:29:56
Ed,do u think perfromances in the euros will have an impact on possible signings by BR? {Ed002's Note - Possibly.}

08 Jun 2012 21:24:43
just wondering if by chance Reina was sold (presumably 15-20 mil) and we got Ter Stegen in to replace him, would you be happy with this change or not? Just as a matter of interest!

I don't think Reina is going, if his latest interview about our new manager has anything to go by!

Keith

No team wants to pay big money for Reina as he was so poor last season

08 Jun 2012 21:07:14
Hey Eds, do you know of any interest from clubs in the mexican Carlos Fierro/

thanks
Amz {Ed002's Note - No.}

08 Jun 2012 21:37:12
Alan Dzagoev is quality. That's the sort of "young with potential" type of players we should be going for.

Shak Attack

Yeah right he scored a brace so will cost the world. do you even know if he's that good. before answering bear in mind that FIFA is not the best source for scouting

In fairness, Dzagoev has been on the radar for a wee while now; well recognised as one of the top rated 'stars' of the future. This tournament will open a lot of peoples eyes to him, glad he's in my fantasy team!
Milamber

08 Jun 2012 21:34:56
i find it funny the euro's starts and people recognise some decent players which they've probably never heard of before and link them to liverpool, come on lads be realistic lol

08 Jun 2012 21:33:14
We all see the names were are being linked with on a daily basis, some are quite exciting some not so much but I am sure FSG have looked at the other teams competing for the top spots and the calibre of player they are buying and know that in order to compete they will also need to purchase high quality players! Now I'm not taking about the same price tags but astute signings! Each investment made will be considered carefully and discussed at great length more than likely with a similar consortium who advised on the manager who I beleive is a fantastic choice if he can do what he beleives he can! Once bitten, twice shy springs to mind! They will not make the same mistakes twice! Have faith guys I am sure the ambition they have for the club is genuine, they do not look like the type of business men that make the same mistakes twice!

Danski

They signed young british players for when the fifa fair play rules come into effect {Ed002's Note - You misunderstand the rules.}

They signed them because kenny fU***d up! he thought British players would want it more,,,,,,how wrong was he.....because instead they just chilled back, thought they were over the hill and that they made it.

08 Jun 2012 22:12:47
Please when will you supposed lfc fans get real and stop posting things like we are going to sign benzema, higuain, eriksen, pato, cavani, lavezzi.
Just lets be honest these type of players will want champs league footy and a barrow load of cash neither of which will be on offer at Anfield.
Buck Rogers knows this as does Henry and Werner so why don't you just go back to playing FIFA or fantasy football and wait and see who we sign and leave it to the men in charge and have faith that they know what to do and who to buy !
Rogers will know the type of player that he wants and that he can actually afford so leave it to him and just get behind him and the team and whoever he signs.
Rant over thanks for reading.

The seasons not started. Nobody has been signed and morons like you have already bitching about anyhing that hasn't happend! Lets see who the manager brings in ,see how they play and what the results are. Then you can moan

08 Jun 2012 21:55:54
this is Liverpool banter not euro banter ...: ed can you ban these morons who go on boring us about how good such and such has played .... if its not about Liverpool who gives a damn.

Dead right !
The Real KB

It's a team England with alot of Liverpool players in it. So let people talk about it!

Just because you chose to support a team in another country!! Do one

08 Jun 2012 21:49:17
Hey eds and everyone on this site I have been an avid poster on here for many years although a different name which I got abused for as it had an easy name to take the pee out of like a flashback to my childhood.
I am unaware of what people mean by this MOTD fever but have some great questions for everyone and some new names to throw into the potential LFC signings hat....so here goes my questions for all too answer.

1) Have Liverpool shown any interest in signing the next player in the euros to score a good looking goal.

2)what are the chances of Brendan Rodgers putting a bid in for the player who beats another player with a trick.

3)Brendan speaks Spanish fluently so whilst on his holidays what are the chances he managed to order a meal without ending everything with the word "O".....IE- "One-O steak and chips O pleaso and Uno beero".

Just some non related questions to this fever thats hitting everyone who is just realisisng that most european teams have some pretty half decent players and wanting to name drop every one of them who has a good game.

Kopping a feel

I hope the reported interest in Nicklas Bendtner are well wide of the mark :|

Lol brilliant....

Notwithstanding, the original post left the door wide open for you...yeah...brilliant response!

08 Jun 2012 21:31:25
If the best signings we can look forward to are the likes of Diame, Sigurdsson, De Jong and Moses then we are doomed for next season, After signing Carroll, downing, Henderson, Adam and Coates last season i thought it couldnt get any worse.

We are Liverpool, We need and deserve better plays than the ones we are been linked with

James YNWA

We are liverpool we make great players we dont buy them

Why do we deserve better? Is that cos of our name, how arrogant is that we would crucify the ass up the M62 for saying that. When we gonna realise we haven't won the league in over 20 years and we need to stop living in the past. We call the lads from across Stanley park for spouting the same crap were coming out with recently.

Mike

Hey leave coates out of it.

08 Jun 2012 21:29:47
Alan Dzagoev looks impressive what are the chances of him transferring from cska and do you know of any teams looking at him

08 Jun 2012 21:24:26
Dzagoev strikes again

08 Jun 2012 21:23:50
if any other team win Euro2012 rather then the favourite spain , france , germany, Holland then it's Russia they are playing good attacking football.

r-r

08 Jun 2012 21:20:01
Are any of you actually watching these games? dzagoev (spelling)? id take pilar (no.14) czech all day long over him

He could run all day that guy.
kopfiend 1978 ynwa

08 Jun 2012 21:05:38
Im beginning to get abit worried about the players we've been heavily linked with diame is an average player but is not liverpool quality the same goes for siggurdson (spelling) although he's younger he's had half a good season in the prem does that remind you of someone (charlie adam). Dont get me wrong im not expecting cavani, neymar or any other over priced player but the likes of soldado honda and sahin would improve our first team never mind the squad

Gilfy is not average

Maybe you should try and watch these players play?

I agree I just hope some off these players become world beaters...

Liverpool should hire you to become a scout because clearly you know more about scouting than our current staff. welcome aboard and may i wish you the best of luck!

08 Jun 2012 21:04:19
so when a player has a decent game...or makes a run down the wing are we going to get loads of "rumours" saying "NAILED ON" to sign for us!?

Now you get how it works

08 Jun 2012 20:58:18
Hi all, not so much a rumour just a question about that vaclev pilar playing for the czech republic. seems a decent player would we have an interest in him?

Keighley red

Just signed for Wolfsburg

He has only just signed for Wolfsburg

BthekingB

08 Jun 2012 20:56:11
I know it's a bit far fetched but would we be interested in Vaslav? Pilar ? Of the Czech Republic? Seems a good little playmaker to be fair

08 Jun 2012 20:50:10
we all saw in the poland vs greece game that lewandowski was brilliant in the first half but was hardly in the game in the second! This shows that a striker is only as good as the service given to him! So imo instead of focussing on getting a big name striker lfc should get a quality winger or attacking mid to link up with the centre forwards! I reckon someone like siggurdson for the attacking mid and james milner for the wing would mean more goals for the cf's and therefore meaning lfc get back to the big time! What do ya think eds?
A.K

Why in utter christ do you want milner. he is a workhorse yes but the transfer, wages and the fact that he probobly won't want to sign for us makes it unlikely. there is much better value out there

You were doing well until you mentioned Milner! Sorry not a fan of his.

Keith

08 Jun 2012 20:48:47
Hi eds please post this  We have been told that there isn't much money to spend this summer and this is who I hope we go for this summer without it breaking the bank. Sigurdsson, Adam Johnson, affellay, luuk de jong and Aly Cissokho. We should sell spearing Glenn Johnson and Charlie Adam. That would pay for most of these signings I think. Please let me know what you all think.

08 Jun 2012 20:20:48
Do we have any interest in all of the russian team? Or their kit? Heard we may be in for their drinks man too. Sorry I think I may be coming down with MOTD fever!

08 Jun 2012 20:19:42
Second game in, too many snacks and cans. I think I've peaked too soon!
Ultra red

Classic post....got to pace yourself mate...how are you going to cope for the remaining 3 weeks?? LOL!

08 Jun 2012 20:15:34
I have to laugh people sayin we are goin in for this player and that player do u really have a clue no one does did any one know we was goin in for carrol for 35mill I hear all these close sources buh missed carrol I do know one thing for sure we will sign no one till after the euros!!FACT

Wrong mate

08 Jun 2012 20:12:17
If Downing is worth 20 million then Dembele is worth double, he's a great player. Fulham got him for 5 or 6 million I think, why can't we find these good players first?

For all you know we have with coates and shelvey. we certainly have with lucas, skrtel and agger. why focus on the negatives ?

I love the site but have to say i find the posts extremely funny! One minute people are complaining that we arn't getting a 'BIG' signing the nesxt people are wanting to find future unknown players that will be the next 'BIG' thing!....Siggy, Phillips etc could all become future stars!

08 Jun 2012 20:12:10
How good do Russia look? When are clubs aloud to start talks with Alan dzagoyev (spelling) we and who is interested?

Thanks paynee {Ed002's Note - From July.}

08 Jun 2012 20:01:03
Is there any chance of Liverpool buying Dzagoev?

Is this a joke jeeeez day 1 im board already....redman matt

08 Jun 2012 19:58:10
Daniel Agger has emerged as a surprise transfer target for Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Real boss Jose Mourinho wants Agger to be his first signing of the summer as the Spanish outfit look for reinforcements ahead of the defence of their La Liga crown next season.
Danish centre-back Agger has been at Anfield since 2006, making 119 appearances and forming a formidable partnership with Slovakian Martin Skrtl.
New Liverpool boss Brendan Rogers is reluctant to lose the 27-year-old but Real are preparing a bid of £18 million for the left-footer, who has 45 caps for Denmark and is currently with his country at Euro 2012.
Rogers had been linked with a raid on his old club Swansea for centre-half Ashley Williams but is not able to buy players from the Liberty Stadium as part of the agreed compensation package between the two clubs.
It is thought Agger is happy at Liverpool but would welcome a move to the Spanish capital, should the opportunity arise.

At 27 and the amount of niggly injuries he gets 18 million
I'd give him a lift to Madrid!!

I'm glad we can't buy Ashley William's from Swansea! Really would not be happy with him replacing Danny Agger! If Danny is going?

27 is the peak of a CB's career but I'd still sell him for 18 million.

BthekingB

He is good but there are other great young defenders out there.

08 Jun 2012 19:54:16
Who is this Baros chap? Looks a handful for the CR. Maybe BR wants to get him.

You dont know who he is? and you think your a liverpool fan... {Ed016's Note - Could be sarcasm}

08 Jun 2012 20:06:00
Dear Eds,what is the interest like with regards to Łukasz Piszczek

Why has he had a good game today
By any chance!!!

One Swallow doesn't make a summer!! {Ed002's Note - I remember this girl back in the summer of 1974

Careful Ed002...that girl is now my wife! :)

, that was a bit dirty from ed002 there.
KiwiRed

08 Jun 2012 20:03:13
Dzagoev looks a good player any interest in him
Lucky the red {Ed002's Note - Dzagoev has interested Chelsea in the past but Arsenal have shown a lot of interest this past year including sending a contingent to watch him play in Moscow back last summer. He will be available on a free transfer at the end of the year, not in the summer.}

08 Jun 2012 19:47:19
How many people would be happy if in January this was our team?
Reina
Kelly Agger Skytel Enrique
Henderson Lucas Gerrard
Suarez Carroll Suso

Bellamy Johnson de Jong Sama sterling diame downing Adam Robinson

Okay I have a soft spot for Suso and think he will be a world star, so might be biased. So if you account for a 15/20m player and put him in instead (insert llorente, solado, johnson etc) do you honestly look at that team and think, is it worse than our main rivals? Is it not more than possible to get champs league with that team/squad? Why were we so bad in 2nd half of the season? We're we even that bad? Was it just not scoring goals? And Kenny's insistence to stick with out of form players?

All these people insisting on squad overhauls and 2 years away from champions league etc. really? That team if players are confident and playing well is pretty damn good! CQ

Think steering will move up before suso ,BR wanted steeling at Swansea, plus suso had a few injuries last term .cheers psv

First of all Gerrard on the RCM with someone coming in for the LCM or Aquilani stays if BR can talk him to stay. Henderson isn't a starter not first choice starter anyway. he wouldn't get in as a 1st choice starter at our rivals man u, man city, arsenal, chelsea, tottenham. this is why we ended up 8th. Because we DEPENDED on Henderson, Shelvey and Spearing too much. i know that we have miss fortunes last year but if the same were to happen this year then...well then we deserve it.

I think it would be a right kick in the teeth for sterling and de jong if suso gets the nod ahead of them

Why would it be a kick in the teeth? suso is far better technically and the style of play BR wants to bring to Liverpool suits someone with suso's attributes more.

He had like had like a two week injury and two red cards. (both were wrong BTW not one of them deserved even a yellow)

We'll have to agree to disagree on sterling and Suso. And personally think they're both potentially world beaters but I think Suso will make the step up first. And anyone who would want aquilani anywhere near our team needs their head checked. Good player but screwed us over for 3years. I've said it before and I'll say it again under BR and his style of play and playing in his natural position Henderson will be immense this year.

08 Jun 2012 19:46:37
How come people on here are saying we have a limited budget? I thought Tom Werner said in a recent interview we have the resources to compete with anyone in world football. Or are FSG simply another Hicks and Gillett. It's obvious we need to spend money again this summer.

Hessle Red {Ed002's Note - I think you will find he was referring to the players.}

Eds your wrong mate how on earth do you interpret what Werner.r said as "referring to the players?" zed {Ed002's Note - So Liverpool have the spending power of Malaga, PSG, Manchester City, Palermo, Chelsea? Right.}

Liverpool owners are worth few billion I believe? If they wanted to spend a couple hundred mill (albeit unlikely they would blindly do so like other club owners) they could. Of course they have the resources to compete, maybe not match in financial clout, but compete by spending their money wisely with a long term plan..yes.

Shak Attack

We definitely don't have the spending power but our squad is also lacking

GuvTOB

On a level playing field with ffp yes we do

If FSG mean what they say they should
be competing with MANU,CHELSKI,CITY,
instead of having 3YEAR PLANS,the teams at the top are not gonna wait
for us to get our 3YEAR PLAN going,
the only way were going to compete
at the moment is if the top 3 standards
drop, because with FSG at the club
we will never compete with the big boys.

auntie annie.....

Took city 3 years with money to win anything

ED ED ED Please can we sign Dimitrios Salpingidis. Ask macca to ask his agent if he is interested

08 Jun 2012 19:38:40
The first thing that I would like to point out is that all the fans calling for new "marquee" signings today and a spot in the champions league by next summer need to get a grip!
First, upgrade the scouting system. Just look at teams like Newcastle who have targeted the a specific league (in this case the French) as its cheap and full of talent and subsequently look at where they finished last season). Sign some top scouts and start getting players watched and evaluated and then productive signings can be made that actually improve the squad not add to it.
We need to stop signing average premier league crap e.g. Downing/Adam for inflated prices. Adding to that, we - the fans - need to stop hoping for players like Moses/Zaha who will cost a bomb and offer no improvement on the current bunch of players.
TRUST THE SCOUTS & THE MANAGER.
You don't have to buy proven talent to improve; it wasn't that long ago when Rafa was signing Arbeloa, Alonso and Reina as HE knew their qualities and potential.
This has been one of the main reasons why over the past 3 years we've been slipping further and further away from the top 4 let alone challenging for the title.
My point is, stop aiming for premier league players or proven foreign talent (unrealistic without champions league) and give the manager and staff some time to weigh up some options, look at the statistics and all the other important "scouting methods" they carry out and then we will start to see improvements at Liverpool Football Club.

I have no sources, I'm not neighbours with Jay Spearings cousin, I'm just a LFC fan who hates reading all the stories of signing Cavani/Lavezzi/Ozil on here but love it for the eds comments, the useful posts and of course Macca's words.
Support Rodgers and give him time!

Re:
{Ed006's Note - The same Torres that left us for Chelsea? The same Torres that said we lied to him? Right I'm sure this is correct now!}

Can I just say on this answer form ed yes Torres did leave us and yes he did say we lied to him but we being Liverpool being the owner the same owners that lied to us THE FANS so cut the lad some slack if we ever signed him back me you and every other fan would shout his name the same as as if any player singed for us...

The face man

I wouldn't. That makes your point null and void. As I count as a fan, therefore not "you me and every other fan" would be shouting his name.

I respect the job the EDs do on here, and am frequently disappointed with the level of abuse given to them by clueless and ignorant so called fans. However, I am offended that you have chosen to remove my comment from earlier. I assume ED02 thinks it ok for Chelsea fans to come on here and bitch about our club, and I should not have criticised them. No offence meant. Nonetheless, I would not dream of posting vitriolic nonsense on other teams sites but it seems if I post on our site when mocked by chavskis it gets deleted. Hey ho. Double standards.

BigBadBen {Ed002's Note - It was nothing to do with me allowing Chelsea fans to criticise Liverpool. The threads have been removed from both pages as they were going beyond banter in to abuse.}

Thanks for the reply ED002. I apologise if you thought I was abusing anyone. I just feel that the banter we have on here is fun enough - there's a fair old mix of views on everything from the manager, the ground, the players we may/may not sign and even the merits of the new batman away strip. It doesn't need intentionally derogatory comments from people who have no interest in our club. But I promise not to be so childish in future.

Except if more of the same appears. Then I will reply. And you can remove it. ;)

Respect to all the Eds.

BigBadBen {Ed002's Note - The abuse was not from you but others. I let it run on both pages for a while but some folk got a little heated.}

secure the future, improve the team & spend no additional money !!

a few hours to myself so here's my plan to continue to reduce size of squad, slash the wage bill, sign young talent and address priorities in squad.

sell

johnson - 12m
adam - 7m
aquilani - 4m
spearing - 3.5m
pacheco - 2m
jones - 1m
cole - 1m
maxi - 1m
eccleston, amoo, darby - buttons
kuyt & aurelio already gone

sign

soldado - 20m
sigurdsson - 7m
butland - 6m (loan back to birmingham)
powell - 6m (loan to championship side)
clyne - 4m
dos santos - 3m
diame - free
mancienne - 2m
affelay - season loan from barcelona
sahin - season loan from real madrid

net spend 10m if all players sold but wage bill reduced by c10m so nothing spent.

soldado, affelay, sahin, dos santos & sigurdsson as attackers, diame strong back up to lucas and clyne to compete with kelly at right-back with mancienne (well know to rodgers) covering across back four and dm. he's good on the ball and likely to develop again under our manager and with carra's legs going a useful squad player. butland to be pepe's long-term replacement with powell given a chance to prove his worth in the champs - both players fees dependent on apps etc so not 12m for the pair up front in any case.

then if we gets champs league we'll replace bellers with a young striker and grab muniain and joe allen next summer !

if only buying and selling players was as easy as this !

pieintheskyman

For a start, We wont get 12m for johnson, 7m for Adam or 3.5for spearing. More like 7m for johnson, 4m for adam and 1-1.5m for spearing.

Soldado wouldnt sign for us either i dont think, I think he's gonna get offers from europes top teams. Looks like powell and clyne are off to united, dos santos and diame are not an improvement of what we have and are over rated, sahin wouldnt come to us i dont think either. Dont think most of your post is realsitic in my opinion, greg

It's a bit of idle fun Greg but I'll bet this type of business is closer to the mark than the lists with 3 or 4 signings in the 10-20 million range.
Soldado could easily be persuaded, doubt Utd will get both the kids as they're targetting big players for teh first eleven this summer first, diame clearly better than spearing and if Wigan or whoever want a 23 year-old who's played more than 50 games in our first team they'll need to fork out more than 1m. Also don't see any reason why we shoudln't persuade Jose to loan a guy who played 4 games for RM last season.

So agree or diagree but I don't think these players are unrealistic - especially compared to some of the names we're linked with. When you reflect on all the players going out only 3 were really firest team regulars last season and if you think we'd only get 7m for the England right-back at his peak you're bonkers. If we don;t get at least 12m we wouldn't sell - he's a good player. It's just a position where we can afford to sell for a decent wedge and save on his salary.

Do you know why Brazil not in Euro 2012? Did they not qualify? IMO they have team to win the Euros... Also i thought Messi would be the leading goal scorer.

Ed do you think this would be realistic if I'm honest I probably think it isn't

NOTE: This post is not intended to offend anyone.

In my view having some of the black players or African Players in the team brings the team to a good balance. They have strength to hold up the ball, have great acceleration and have great power to drive forward with the ball. I also think that their work rate is massive and they use their body well while playing. (Not saying all posses this quality)

Some of the examples are:

Lass Diarra at Real Madrid
Yaya Toure at Manchester City
Didier Drogba at Chelsea
Eric Abidal and Seydou Keita at Barcelona
Clarence Seedrof at AC Milan
Alex Song at Arsenal
Cisse at Newcastle
Mario Balotelli at Manchester City (You guys can have a laugh at this one)

and many others...

My point here is that Liverpool presently lack such kind of quality in the team. Mascherano used to do that for us but he got sold. Lucas started to look like he was going to fill that gap for us but then he got injured. IMO bringing Diame in could bring that dynamic quality to the team, if not Tony Silva looks like our younger talent who can bring that quality.

I understand that they play different position and the roles they play in the team are different but I am talking about overall quality of the team rather than individual position within the team.

Again, I am not being racist, just a thought.

Liverbird Upon My Chest

Diame is perfect and FREE

I understand your not trying to offend but this could be seen as a bit of a generalisation toward African players, for example look at gervinho he hardly shows power and the ability to hold up the ball. Players will be picked on ability and that alone not race, there are good/bad players from every country in my opinion.

Square tomato

Lass Diarra for me. young fast hard working and not reguler in Real. so we can ask for him as real have shahin now.

Just saying what I have heard and dont shoot me down, but Rodgers knows what xabi means to the club and the fans and knows he is one of the best players to have when playing 'tika taka' football so he will put a bid in!! it will also get the fans onboard almost immediately to see xabi put that beautiful new shirt on and help up get back in the champions league and then championship!!

Hi Eds,
We need 4 players this summer;
-A defensive midfielder.(back-up for Lucas).
-A right winger.
-An attacking midfielder.
-A striker.

Being realistic and considering FSG transfer policy,i think we can get:

-DM: M.Diamé.(free).
-RW: R.Boudebouz.(£8M).
-AM: G.Sigurdsson.(£6.8M).
-CF: L.De Jong.(£12.5M).
Thanks!!,
Cheers.

My head says this is what we will end up with and may be a LB or CB or RB depending upon departures. But my heart says there is going to be at least one 20mil signing (Muniain or Ramirez or Soldado). Hope we sign one.

AJ

Not bad At all good player and Low Budget.

08 Jun 2012 18:46:31
Diame + Sigurdsson are the two most likely players to join us in the transfer window & i also think we have a pretty good chance on signing Johnson if we show interest along with Luuk de Jong but i think personally he is very overrated.

Then you know absolutely nothing.

De Jong is the new Ryan Babel, Ive seen a lot of his games, Not good enough.

Eds, whats the situation with Suso for this year? Is he getting a new contract, going to be sold or going to get a chance?

Thanks {Ed002's Note - There is nothing I know of planned regarding his contract - he is still only 18.}

He should be getting a new contract, he has one year left on it as does, Silva, Sterling and I'd imagine a lot of the reserves. bar Coady, Sama and Wisdom who had contract renewals last summer if I'm not mistaken.

08 Jun 2012 18:30:56
What a pisser it will be if utd do sign Lewandowski and modrc having already got kagawa. It seems them and chavski mean business and will seriously challenge City. We seriously need to sign some quality players or risk falling further away from the pack. Only 5 years ago we were signing world class talent and had one hell of a team always in the top 4. I have faith in Rodgers and hope he makes us a top 4 club again within 2 years?

08 Jun 2012 18:10:02
Hi eds! Realistic players players we could get without breaking the bank
1.Diame
2.Sigurdson (spelling)
3.De Jong
4.A Johnson.
5 S Kjaer if Skrtel decides to jump ship

Diame and Sigurdson not good enough. De Jong way over rated. Johnson is an improvement on what we have. No chance of signing Kjaer

Kjaer is terrible sorry.

INS:
M. Diame £free- would work well as an impact player or a holding/defensive midfielder with lucas
D. Hoilett £free- I'd try my best to pick him up on a free, its a steal. great shot, very fast and a good cross
G. Sigurdsson £8 mil- great passer and bound to follow BR with the way he plays
A. Johnson £12 mili not getting game time at mancity and perfect winger for us
L. De Jong £10 mil- proven goalscorer in the dutch league and young with room to improve

OUTS:
M. Rodriguez £1 mil
J. Spearing £3 mil
D. Wilson £2 mil
C. Adam £5 mil
A. Doni £1 mil
A. Aqualani £4 mil
D. Pacheco £3 mil
B. Jones+ N. Eccleston £1 mil

whats your thoughts?

That looks pretty realistic and i would be happy with that this summer(although like everyone else i have my hopes up for more) YNWA

Would that not leave us with no backup keeper? Or are you talking about our young left back, i was under the impression he was very highly thought of.

Other than that, I dont think that's too unrealistic and would be happy with additions. Although cant see Adam leaving, he was never that bad when gerrard wasn't playing.

Why has the interest in Honda cooled? He's a BRILLIANT player, could be available for no more than 18m, and he is far better than Sigurdsson (no one can argue that). Honda, Soldado and a skillful, pacey (Suarez like) winger will get us top four for sure! And if Adam and Spearing are sold then Sigurdsson would be a good cheaper replacement for them, but we must not rely on just him to solve our lack of creativity in the middle. Not totally sure about the winger we should move for but we should try and go for Munian if possible, back up option for me would be Belhanda.

E.H LFC

We have absolutely no hope of signing soldado, munian, belhanda and honda. More likely going for players like diame, moses, sigurdson im afraid

To be fair i dont think anyone really knows where interest lies right now on anyone. their are players that we were very keen on in the past but now its anyones guess with the new manager

Hi ed would just like to update people on the wingers were inrested in.

Ryad Boudebez
Ben Arfa
Adam Johnson
Matt Phillips
Gio Dos Santos
Maybe some more in next few days but we will sign a min of 2 as sterling will be givin a good chance and hit 20 apps sub or starting

Thanks?? for nothing {Ed016's Note - you get what you pay for}

I think Susaeta would be cheaper than all but two and could possibly be a better option than all. hope he is still in consideration

What about Munian Ramirez and susaeta

08 Jun 2012 17:03:20
Got that sinking feeling! Unt have signed Kagawa and on the verge of Lowandowski and Modric as well as a talented 18 yr old striker. Chelsea have signed Hulk, Hazard, Marin.
I think that Rodgers is the man for the job but would love some promp quality signings to fill the problem areas that we all know need filling. How long has it been since we've had someone wide who can skin people or 2 quality out and out strikers??!
Give Rogers the tools to do the job and get players in promptly.

08 Jun 2012 17:01:31
If we want to sign some really big names this summer then we should go for the two Greek defenders?

MR EM

Yes. They have got very big names. Must be nearly 40 letters between the no8 & no15

08 Jun 2012 16:44:48
All we need is players like Moses, Sissurgoson, Adam Johnson because we are the mighty Liverpool who are meant to be 'big' and we can defo match teams like Chelsea and United with these players. Seriously?

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit you know!!

Sigardson has a lot of potential and at that price is a steal

And highest for of intelligence

08 Jun 2012 16:39:53
Okey kokey LFC fans..........
Lets see who we all really want. These are my tips for bringing in and letting go.
In
1. Adam johnson ( a must)
2. Siggersson ( a must )
3. Jermaine defoe ( a must )
4. Dempsey ( cud be gud)
5. Diame ( a must )

Out
1. Shelvey ( loan)
2. Spearing (loan)
3. Coates ( loan)
4. Aquilani ( sell)
5. J. Cole ( sell )
Thats it for me. We need passion players and we need these guys out on loan to develop into great players for the future.

Unbelievable post :-

None of your musts are a must at all, and what is all this clamour for Adam Johnson about - if he was as good as people think he would be more of a regular at City. Defoe, Dempsey and Diame all ok players but none are outstanding and would not improve on our current squad.

Spearing on loan I agree with - hopefully with a couple of seasons in the Conference he will become an average player.

John B

The players we are being linked with are depressing, there seriously the kind of players that usually got to clubs like Villa and Sunderland

08 Jun 2012 16:21:41
Hi ed.thanks for lovely work on the site,to be honest i think next season top 6 will be our priority not top 4,no champion league to offer nor we will get in bidding war as last season owner did spent all most 100 million,so this year there wont be big budget to offer.still hope if we can snatch rasmus elm, ryad boudebouz and luuk de jong n may be gaston ramirez, chelsea already got hazard n likely hulk, utd got kawaga, close to get modric n also lewandoski.mancity exception, arsenal have champion league to offer, spur will sign couple of good name, newcastle have better squad as compare to liverpool so all in one top 4 is huge task, arsh-redindian

"newcastle
have better squad as compare to
liverpool"?!Yes they have a couple of good players but our squad is better. They finished 5th but that not means they have a better spuad than Chelsea and even Liverpool.

Another player lost.

How can he be another player lost - maybe another player from some fans wish list - you can only consider them lost if we actually bid for a player and don't get him. Wish list don't count.

08 Jun 2012 16:18:53
Robert Lewandowski is NOT going to man utd because he won't get much football , maybe Liverpool could seal a deal for him he would be a good striker to partner Luis Suarez and send Andy Carroll on loan. Luuk De Jong won't be joining Newcastle he will snub Newcastle and join Liverpool. Outs- Maxi (50/50 chance , Skrtel ( Man city) should do a swap for Richards Or Kompany , I'd say if Suarez wants to go then listen to offers and then when a team comes up with a good offer then offload him. Already signed Gylfi Sigurdsson

This must be the funniest post I've ever seen!

Send a 35 million player out on loan and city to get rid of their most influential player and team captain! Get your head out your a** mate!

Hi Ed's. Any ideas on the owner's financial situation?

Are we not getting a decent sized budget because they're skint or (and I fear this) are they simply asset stripping like H&G did?

Cheers for the updates

BigCrazyJay {Ed002's Note - No one has asset stripped Liverpool.}

The most ignorant post of the week.

dd

In fairness last tear we had a magnificent budget from the owners. and.....by and large it was wasted. The owners - new to the game - expected that this money would be well spent and they would only have to 'top up' the budget. Unfortunately this is obviously not the case. The owners are not to blame - they got rid of G & H - they invested in transfers and the return is poor

{Ed006's Note - I am not sure mate, it must just be the site? I am no expert to be honest. We dont choose it, it just happens I think. Hope this makes sense.}

The way I see it is fairly simple, on the rumours page replies are hidden in another page which is linked.
On the banter replies are visible below each other on the same banter page.
So its determined via ist on the banter or the rumours page; simples

The visible replies are on the banter page. The replies with a link are on the rumour page. Hope this helps. The Robster.

IMO we are under the wrong ownership as united, chelsea and city are being allowed to go spend freely on which ever players they want with no limit to make themselves successful whereas we are limited to how much money we can spend, therefore unless we have freedom to spend we will never be in the top four again. It hurts as a passionate liverpool fan and I can not see us signing any good players this season our best signing will probably be heskey.

Moron

In the words of the esteemed Chandler Bing, could you BE more wrong?

i do not want Liverpool to go out and buy a title. I want us to put together a team at reasonable expense and that team will contain players of sufficient talent and desire that they will overcome any set of Harlem Globetrooter style mercenaries collected by the Chavs and Blue Mooners.

It's football, not "my daddy's got more money than you"!

Mrpjd

(Enraged)

Football is about money and trophies, every winning team spends big,we have been sold to the wrong owners yet again, the other big teams in europe have bigger stadiums and are generating more money.

Mrpjd.
I thank you, kind sir.

How much hasBVB spent the last few years? Correct me if I am wrong, but they sold Suhin last year, didn't spend huge amounts of money to replace him & still won for the second year in a row.

It simply amazes me that people want a "quick fix" to our lack of title instead of longevity for the future. None of you complained about H & G when they first bought the club, as much as you are about FSG. The funny thing is, if you had done your homework you would have been furious when Moores sold the club to those two failed business men. FSG are very good owners. Both of their other sporting "franchises" are on solid footing. There is a lot of work to be done at LFC, have just a bit of faith

an american red

Wrong owners we have. No club will compete without money. Can you imagine if Liverpool FC had money available to buy and to pay players top rates? Do you really think a player would choose Chelsea or Man City ahead of a team like Liverpool? I really don't think so, but money talks. So therefore we could have the wrong owners. It's alright paying off debt etc. but what's the point? Frankly fans want to see Liverpool winning trophies on the stages of
England, Europe and the world. The only way to do that, I would argue, is to create a winning team with the best players in every position and quality cover on top of that.

I have to say though, having said they maybe the wrong owners. We have not seen yet this pre season what resources they intend to plough into the team.

But if we have to continue the trend of getting free transfers and bargain basement players then we will not succeed full stop.
And it won't matter if we have Brendan Rodgers or the real Buck Rodgers in charge either!

Z

Look at Tottenham, how much did they spend last season and still got into the Top 4? Come on mate smarten up. It isn't how much you spend.. it is how well you spend. I believe Rodgers will get it right!

Really hope these rumours linking us with Diame are false. Im sick of these bad signings, Downing, Carroll, Adam and Henderson last season and now were been linked with Diame, Moses, Sigurdson and De Jong. They will not improve our team/squad and are not good enough. Diame just isnt good enough, Moses is over rated, Sigurdson couldnt get into the hoffenheim team and looked ok at Swansea, But Charlie Adam looked good at Blackpool and look how that worked out, Luuk De Jong is also over rated and is the next Ryan Babel

We are Liverpool FC for gods sake. We should be going for the best players in the world. Could be another bad season in store for us if this is the type of players we can attract. Noel

Sigurdsson and De Jong are very gifted players with good futures ahead of them.
Moses is a made up story.

The only good signing we've made the past few seasons has been Suarez and he'll be off this summer to a big team. We need better players than siggurdson, diame, moses and De Jong. De jong is so over rated its scary

Graham

Yeh, i agree with the above.
Sigurdsson and De Jong are VERY talented players.

See... What we have here ladies and gentlemen, is somebody who looks at stats and which clubs players come from, rather than watching football and understanding the game(original poster).

Kagawa is a perfect example, United would've no doubt paid a fairly large truck load of money for him. However in 2010, Dortmund paid only 350K(euros) for him. Do we really want to be the club that pays huge fees and wages for players that other clubs have found and watch them flop, or do we want to find them ourselves, and watch them thrive?
We can only go over this argument so many times... It's doing my head in.

Red7.

Suarez can go for all i care, He's a person. Dont want people like him at our club, steve dub ynwa

Sigurdsson could be an allright addition to the squad, Not a great player but he will come in handy considering we'll be over loaded with midfielders, We have no chance of offlaoding adam, spearing, sheley or henderson so were stuck with them. As for Diame, Moses and de Jong. No, Just no. diame and moses are shocking and i the only reason people want de jong is because hes the 1st half decent player that would be open to a move to liverpool, he is not an improvemnt on carroll. suarez will be off and your spot on saying de jong is the next ryan babel.... super red

Henderson was a great signing, give the lad a chance and he will be top class.

De Jong is reasonable, the rest are over rated.

Just a note with regards to money and football, Man city won the league this year in the last seconds of the season after spending god knows how many hundred million, for the amount of money spent the general consensus means they should have walked to the title at a canter, not scraped to the title, money is not always the answer, obviously it can be a massive help signing brilliant players, but titles and trophies can be won with a genuine team ethic and a very smart coach with top knowledge of the game, think of all the managers who have spent fortunes and not turned it into success and ultimately lost their jobs, and think of genius' of the game who have used their knowledge to produce outstanding teams, Shankly, Clough, Ferguson these are men who have built teams and success, and reasons i always believe in a top coach is more important than spending fortunes on individual players, another example is Real Madrid, they spend fortunes yearly, yet it took the genius of Mourinho to turn them into champions. just like he did at Inter Milan. Lets hope Rodgers is as talented a coach as people are saying and his knowledge of the game and players is up to scratch and i think if he is a top coach we have a good chance of being a top team.
its not all about money!

You can't walk to a canter.

25-1 for England to be lowest scorers in the tournament. I may have a bit of that

Chris in Tamworth

Remember ireland are involved

Not a bad shout that chris.
Where did you find that?
Suppose it shows that expectation is about the same level as success now for England, the betting shops are usually full of the likes of:
England to win and rooney top scorer with 45 goals 8-1.

MIKEY

Not a bad shout.

Stone YNWA.

According to the odds checker website that price is available with Paddy Power, William Hill and Betfred amongst others.
Ireland are actually the favourites to be lowest goalscorers at 4-1 but with our first game against France we could easily be beaten to nil, a nil nil draw with Sweden wouldn't be that unlikely and then in our final group game a certain Mr Rooney will be back so don't expect us to score in that one!

Chris in Tamworth

Was listening to talksport on my way in...and both ronnie irani and alan brazil where complaining about a chris in tamworth...and how much you hate rooney....

Killerpool

What about greece

Yeah but as usual Irani and Brazil were talking crap. I don't hate Rooney (I couldn't seeing as I've never met the man) I just believe that he is massively overrated and I point that out and the reasons for it quite often.

Hi Eds,
I am aware of BR's preferred style of play (which I think is something to look forward to) but do you know if he has a favoured formation / system?

If he does have a favoured formation, which current players do you think are most under threat?

Personnally I think playing Suarez as an attacking right (where he was most succesful at Ajax) with a similar player on the left, and a out and out CF in the center would be great (with Gerrard / Dempsey in 'the hole')

Thanks in advance.
Peter

Out and out like carroll ?

It will be carroll.

Kaizer

Rodgers might line up his players differently than Swansea as we have more players and better ones aswell.

Hang on what has Carroll done to make everyone suddenly think he'll be banging 20 goals next season. Yes he performed well towards the end but he wasn't scoring goals was he? We need Soldado!!

Just finished watching Japan play in Asian WCQ and it is imperative that we sign up Honda. Controlled the game from midfield and also scored , not to mention countless assists and accurate passes into dangerous areas in the box. If Mancs can sign Kawaga and he is something to watch out for signing Honda is must.

Id get honda for also economics reason as well !

He did have a blinder eh. I really like watching the lad, well, i won't on tuesday, but yeh. Brilliant.

Honda is a must. i need to upgrade from my fiat punto !

Martin Kelly scored more goals, made more assists, made more tackles and won more trophies than Rio Ferdinand last season.

That is all.
Casey

All these know-it-alls outraging at poor (almost permanently crocked and always unreliable) Rio, may wish to consider Kelly's ability as right-back as the reason he got the nod. Ultimately, Glen Johnson's big toe was the decisive factor.

(Not English and don't really care- just pee-ed off at all the "poor Rio" crap).

Mrpjd

They're complaining about rio when richards is twice the player he is and didn't get the nod. besides rio will just divide the camp. also kelly is for the future and can play just as effective at RB than at CB. i think hodgeson also knows him better.

so ed's the Euro's are here who do you think is going to win.

Thanks

Greg. {Ed002's Note - Germany will be tough to beat.}

My money is on russia i think they mean business this year

I agree with Ed 002 or Holland
Will probably have a flutter on them both :o)

Phooey

France

My money is on Holland, which isnt really exciting but i also think Poland will do well and Ireland to qualify from their group (very hard to beat).

The Irish Rover

France are going in under the radar
Plus no one seems to be backing Spain

I think Holland are going to flop this year....

France, Germany and Spain in the semis with one of Portugal or Russia.

Germany and Spain in the final.

Adam

My first choice would be Germany or Holland but I think Poland might surprise everyone, they've got a few good players and home support, if they get a good start they could get on a role.

Sounds like a long shot, but i think it's very realistic. Italy!
Also, for the superstitious, they won the world cup just as a match-fixing scandal was breaking news, so it may be time again.
My money's on them for different reasons though, mainly their tenacity combined with intelligence and the form of some of their players. I think Pirlo will go close to the tournaments best player award.

Red7.

Portugal will not see their way out of the group stages, but i really feel for Denmark, what a person of a group to be drawn in...

Germany v england final germany to win

Hi

Not transfer related but I'd like to know if and when Kevin Keen left the club as he is no longer listed amongst the staff on the official website.

and does anyone have an idea of who BR wants to bring in staff wise.

{Ed002's Note - He left a couple of days ago with Steve C.}

Brendan Rodgers has his own staff. He's brought 3 with him from Swansea. Keen left when Dalglish left.

Just wanted to say I'm so glad the Euros are starting today I've had major football withdrawals! Oh and to all the supporters who have been slating last years signings its interesting to see that 6 of the England squad is made up with some of those so called flops & we have the highest representation of any other Premier League clubs!! I will be supporting our lads over in Poland & Ukraine (from my armchair after watching Panorama!) and hoping they all have a great tournament & gain vital experience from it so they come back stronger for the start of next season

I wish Brendan Rodgers all the best, and i'm genuinely excited to see what team he puts together & watching us play exciting attacking pass & move football! Also excited about the new signings whoever they may be and roll on the start of 2012/13season!

It's a recycled story but reports suggesting that Man City want Agger.
If so we need to apply their valuation system to our player ( suggested adam Johnstone @ £16m) and slap a stupid price tag on him ( and anyone else we want to keep) we always seem to pay top whack and sell for less.

Thats because there good when they join you and you turn them into below average players :D

curt

Is there any chance theyd pay £20 million for charlie adam?

To Curt..

funny how that didnt happen to Torres..Alonso.. Mascherano..Arbeloa.. do I need to go on? And we made a killing when we sold them on.

hi eds. hope you post. eds just wondering do you know anything about jonathon Cristaldo of Metalist and Pierre- Emerick Aubameyang of Saint-Etienne. they are only 23 and 22 and would under £10mill each. I know they are pretty much unheard of but what i have seen of them they have unreal potential. I think we should be looking at mayby unfashionable targets as there is value out there. Instead of everyone going on about ramirez ect Pierre-Emerick is as good as if not better than Ramirez and woyld prob cost a third of the price. Its just at the moment we are gonna find it hard attracting top top names with no cl football and finishing poorly in the league i just think we need to dig a bit deeper as regards transfer targets. anyway eds end of rant cheers lads.And good luck to Brendan Rodgers as liverpool manager he plays the game the way it should be played imo.cheers again. {Ed002's Note - Jonathan Cristaldo has third party ownership and would struggle to get a work permit. Fiorentina have an interest in him. I don't know of interest in Aubameyang from Liverpool.}

LFC is bigger than any of its players or managers - Yes most would answer.

However when does a club stop being true to its roots?

When does a club lose its Soul?

If a club is more than a stadium, players, fans, etc. what defines a club? What defines a special club?

Under Henry what is LFC - A Brand?

Do Brands have have something special, that indefinable quality LFC had in spades in the past?

LFC use to have that "something Special" does it still have it?

Or did a large part of it die when Henry Sacked Kenny?

The players have all being very quiet since Kenny's departure, with Gerrard saying Kenny was my idol and still is my idol.

BTW Kenny was not my favourite LFC player and its no sour grapes about Kenny, its just that Henry approach to football is Cold, maybe there no room for sentiment but then again does a brand have that something that sets it part from others?

Is LFC only a brand now?

Mojo

Of course it is. This has nothing to do with Kenny or Henry or anyone else for that matter.

Football is now a buisness. No other way around it.

If people want football that's played by people who do it out of pure love for the game only then go and watch your local Sunday league games.

Tristan

Its the fans that make our club special. We need to start showing the support we once did, interesting post tho.
TIZER RED

What a load of cobblers ! LFC is just a brand because the ownership makes a tough decision that in the long term they believe will prove right for the club. Football is a business and success on the pitch will only follow success as a business unless of course you have an individual willing to pump in millions, no billions of their own cash. Please get real.

Apple is a brand that has done quite well, don't you think?

an american red?

Were we any less of a brand under Hicks and Gillet? No. LFC is not a brand don't be so paranoid and frankly, stupid.

The heart and soul of the club is with its fans and its players and if people who come to think like you that the club is a brand, then the club will lose its soul.

Zero

As hard as it is, we should judge King Kenny in the same way we judged Roy Hodgson. Kenny is an icon but the team under performed and we paid over the odds for players. We cant blame FSG for doing the right thing, even though its not the most popular. True leadership is defined by the unpopular decisions.
Freeworld Speech.

The fans are the clubs soul, when everything else is gone the club will always have it's fans.
Our owners are looking to refurbish anfield rather than a new stadium and have given us a retro looking shirt. That's not selling out too much is it.
Look at Cardiff fc for a good example of selling your clubs soul.

MIKEY

Football stopped being a sport when the PL started and gave Sky the ultimate control of fixture days and times.

Apple is a brand and a fantastic one how ever does it have fans who cry when the team lose , what the prevoius poster means is that lfc are a collective just like the borg we are all together and we all feel for the club.

Spot on could not agree more, now its all about the money not about the game, very shortly football in this country will go bang when the ever increasing fianancial bubble bursts, clubs go bust and all the mega rich playboys find something else to play with,as for sky, great tv coverage but for me football is 3,o,clock saturdays always was always should be!

Apple is a brand

But its a brand without soul without passion, without that, special something

Those that compare LFC to Apple really are lost

Infact the whole point of the original post seems to have been lost on those that replied

Maybe very few people are in touch with the Souls?

This all happens with private ownership.

08 Jun 2012 13:12:12
It looks like FSG want to do things on the cheap.

Today's game is ruled by money. Nothing can be done about it.

Man U, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham will all sign top players.

Liverpool will only spend if Suarez is sold.

That is the reason for selling Suarez.

Too many excited for the future posts here and not enough realistic ones.

Only a large budget will get us back to at least fourth place.

Newcastle came very close to the top 4....

Absolutely agree.
To progress in a 'competitive league', money has to be spent.
The euphoria of a new manager will soon wear off, and the reality will set in.
Limited transfer budget.
Sell the best player to earn money.
18 plus months on and NO news on the stadium.

Dear oh dear, what have we become under FSG.
The succession of two sets of American owners is sadly leading LFC down the path of mediocrity!.

Its not just about spending money on the over hyped individuals such as Cavani, Lavezzi, Hazard and Hulk it's about building a team and there's plenty of quality players out there that don't cost the earth that we can make a solid and exciting team/squad added with the talented youth we've got coming through.

It's a long term project not just an over night attempt of boom or bust.

Your never be top 4 again like someoner said newcastle had no money just face it ur clubs going downhill

curt

'two sets of Americans' - is that you Ozone

Puzzled

Fella, take SPurs away form that group of teams.. they are not a rich club nor is offering players huge wages... Harry Redknapp & co assembled a great group of players after years and they have come to fruition thats all..

They have a very rigid wage structure. I doubt any player is above 90K wages.

Of course they scout players and try to get quality players but the transferworks for them is like this an makes me laugh.

They scouted Aguero, Mata, Hazard, Rossi, Suarez, but you know what happens they can't pay more than 20M for any player and their highest of wage they can offer is around 70K.

They got VDV... you know what
Liverpool and Chelsea asked about Real Madrid for him Real said 12-15M but Spurs went and got him for 8M... what actually happened was when negotiating Prices spurs beg & cry to lower it but most of the time they are priced away from it.

Spurs is not financially or by anyways a bigger club than that of LFC, MUFC, CFC, AFC or MCFC

On FSG imo they really should loose their grip on the money, should little bit just a little bit more splash the cash.

To get that fourth spot, it won't come cheap... Newcastle got lucky,, rare case
but if they want it to happen fast then just splash the cash. thats all

I love the fact you lot are slagging off the owners with absolutely no idea who we are going to buy or how much we'll spend. It may be true but at the moment your making things up in your head and having a go because of the stuff you make up.
Some people just need to get a grip.
IOM Red

Spending big is not what's needed.
Spending wise is what we need.
Liverpool will always have a healthy transfer budget we just need to stop wasting it all the time.

Scouse Ben

Scouse ben

Is diame a done deal or am i missing something? Also the fact that sigurdsson plays in the attacking third and diame playing in the defensive third why isn't there room for both?

Or a few of the likes of adam spearing will be leaving?

I believe that Sigurdsson is virtually a done deal behind the scenes.

With Adam, Aquilani and possibly Spearing likely to leave there is room in the squad, besides we will need a bigger squad next season anyway.

I very much suspect Bayern Munich would be top of the list with a cheque in hand should he not agree an extension at Dortmund but Dortmund certainly do not want to sell him to BM. i have watched a lot of diame in the past 2 years and in my opinion he is class he very much reminds me of yaya toure he can bang them in from outside the box which i think we have missed when stevie has been injured also he is skilfull and is very, very good at taking the ball past players i think he would add somethink much needed to the squad also when could a deal be completed?
thanks
lfc liam

I haven't seen much of him, but he reminds me of Momo Sissoko pre-eye injury. Strong, aggressive, powerful, but seems to struggle with the simple things, but do the difficult things well. Capable of the sublime and the substandard.

Under the right tutelage he could be a good player as he has the attributes

RedSG

He will not improve our first team but our squad and it is a squad game. i think he is a sensible buy on a free, he will give lucas the rest he needs whilst providing competition for him to up his performance. although wages may be an issue as i don't see him coming to liverpool to lay second fiddle to lucas without a mighty payoff, maybe im wrong ?

What does everyone think will happen to Kelly next year?
A lot of talk about how Glen Johnson will fit into brendans style but we are starting to hold back kellys progress now.
He is surely a better player than Johnson or at least will be.
Could he be sold?
Could he replace carra as back up CB to get more games?
Or do we expect him to use this season to overtake Glen on the right, and then sell glen in the summer while his price remains reasonably high?
I hope it's the latter and I hope he has a great euros.

MIKEY

Full back

Martin Kelly should play centre half imo. Not likely though with agger, skrtel, coates ahead in the pecking order

Boothy94

Centre back for me, I would hope he and Coates get used in the Cup games, as we will have a lot of them. Considering Carra probably wont be offered a playing contract after next season, Skrtel, Agger, Kelly and Coates will be our centre backs for 2013/14.

Plus we have Flanagan and McLaughlin who need to be developed too...

RedSG

He is naturally a CB.

What are you smokin?? He's never and will never be better than johnson at fullback! but i agree with the one poster that they should put him and Coates at cb for cupgames

BR has said glen can become the best right back in the world, plus he fits into his style perfectly so the chances of him being sold are very slim.

I was asking if Kelly could be sold not Glen.
He's going to really struggle to get games next year and if he has a good tournament then who knows.
I would have him over Glen But Rodgers seems to have a soft spot for him.

Strong rumours round Cobham (Chelsea's training ground) that Kalou will sign for LFC.

Also, New song for Gylfi when he signs, to the tune of the Hyypia song:

Must have spent weeks writing that song.

Quite simply unique - no one would ever have combined the two in the way you have there... *headshake?!*

"His name is Gylfi and he dances on the pitch,

One thing that I totally disagree with some of the Ed's is their view on Aquilani.

Alberto may be many things but in my opinion he is the type of player Brendan Rodgers will want to try and keep and develop. He plays pass and move, the Liverpool way and I'd be very surprised to see him leave this summer.

Anfield Villain

Aquilani is lazy defensively and looks to be carrying a few extra pounds IMO. Also he is injury prone and home sick, hardly the type of player I would want.

Eds I will do the honours.
He does not want to play in Liverpool or England, now or ever.

MIKEY

He doesn't fit the new wage-restriction policy, and lacks the necessary phisuque. He had potential to fit intothe club, but that is in the past now.

Drigan

He doesn't want to be at Liverpool. It can't be that hard to understand.

Agree, lets just sell and get rid!

HE DOESN'T WANT TO BE AT LIVERPOOL! Even if we wanted him to stay, he doesnt want to be here and to have a player on the pitch who doesn't want to give 100% for the cause is not a player we want to keep.
KiwiRed

Why do people keep on talking about aquaman, dont they listen to anything for f###s sake. he doesnt want to play in england !

Aquilani, a pass and move exponent? He can pass for sure, he's just not quite figured out the move part yet!

Red G

(puts head in hands and starts to sob a little...)

Boothy94

he doesn't want to play for liverpool or live in england! he is lazy, over rated (exactly why no one will buy him), injury prone and a pre madonna!!

personally i would use him in a deal to get juan manuel vargas from fiorentina. that would be about as useful as aquilani will ever get! enrique and vargas competing for a place down the left, vargas is agressive, gets up and down the left, makes good use of the ball and can add some goals. healthy competition for places, that's what we need.

It's sad that other big clubs are signing and attracting bigger names while we are yet to sign or able to attract these players. The players that are linked to us are mostly average and decent. Yes,we have no CL to offer. But this doesn't mean that we'll just sign any average Joe. This is LFC...We need Qualities not Quantities. It's about time the once fallen giant to wake up and rule once again. In BR and the owners we trust...

Goliath

Don't be so blind! Had you ever heard of Demba BA, Pappise Cisse, Yohan Cabbay or Chet Tiote before they arrived at Newcastle? How about Vincent Kompany? Havier Hernandez? Or a 16 year old Cristiano Ronaldo? Were not in a position to tempt massive stars from the beat teams because quite simply we're a step backwards for them. However, good players are out there and just because you haven't heard of them doesn't mean LFC isn't getting quality, it just means we have to work harder to uncover the best talent BEFORE they become worldwide stars.

How many good players that LFC have missed before? Why are we signing decent players with high prices instead of getting proven players with decent money? How do you know players choose other teams cos we're simply a step backwards unless you try to bid for them. In my opinion,we failed to replace the Qualities we have before and instead replacing them with decent Quantities.

Well actually Konpany was always viewed as a massive prospect when he was younger, just saying.

On the subject of new kits, and following the posts of the "soul-less" Adidas strips, have a look at Chelsea's new away shirt.
Interesting. I don't know what Chelsea fans will think about it.
But it's better than that monstrosity that Warrior have come up with for our away matches.
And what's with the material and shade of red of our home shirt ?
In the words of Comic Shop Guy - Worst Shirts Ever !
The Real KB

Who cares about the shirts once we win. NOBODY is forcing you to buy the shirts..

Site should be Liverpool-Moaners not rumours!

Adidas must have plenty of that blue diy left it looks like a box of fags pool one has history
redrrab

This is the banter page mon ami, not rumours.
The word 'banter' obviously is not in your vocabulary.
If anyone is gonna wear the away shirt to matches, we'll look like a Star Trek Convention has just rolled in to town.
I don't buy shirts anyway, tbh.
They're for playing in, not sitting watching a match and eating hamburgers.
Is that material good for washing ketchup stains out of ?
F's sake.
The Real KB

Have you got one yet KB?
I have not had the chance to go into town and have a look at one up close.
The away kits horrible so I will get the home kit.

MIKEY

Lol, that's quite funny redrrab.
Do you think Didier Drogba was consulted on the new Chelsea away shirt Ed002 ?
Lol..
The Real KB

Southampton, stoke, sunderland, united, west ham, arsenal, villa are all of the away games we have to wear that kit for.

We need proper red colour

eds i have tried to post once or twice but my posts have never made it on so can u please post this, do u think lfc will sign 2 or more players this transfer window, and out of our possible signing which player would u buy, please post. great site keep up the good work tanks. {Ed002's Note - There is no doubt that players will be signed. What we cannot do is list the likely signings which you keep asking for. You have to read the posts.}

Hi all.
I would like to put my thoughts across re-possible signings in the forth coming weeks.

Why are a lot of reds fans stating the like of Downing, carroll, Charlie Adam, hendo etc should move on due to poor performances last season? Other than Suarez really, all other players were under performers. The players that came in last season (mentioned above) need time to establish the way Liverpool want to play and be successful. They are all quality players......... This is proved by other big teams wanting there signature when we approached them all. They want to play for us and i really think with a few other additions we can once again challenge.
We without doubt need a poacher, like a defoe and an attacking right winger, like Adam johnson and someone to replace Steve gerrard. He has 2 seasons at best left and so now is time to nerture a new face with support from Lucas and Adam. We only lacked scoring goals last season. With these prospective players we can be fantastic. Brendan Rogers is the perfect man to lead this 2012/13 campaign.

Please let me know if you agree ...... Or not!

Ynwa guys!

I agree on the whole just a couple of points if i may:
1) skrtel was our best player not suarez (just my opinion)
2)Hell no to defoe!!

Love the site eds keep up the good work. Just wanted to know peoples thoughts on Jordan Rhodes, he wouldnt cost over 5 million although he is a natural goalscorer. I think we should take a gamble on him or we could regret it he is exactly what we need, he would have taken at least 10 of the chances we created last season which would have got us further up the table. I say take a gamble Brendan. Nigel YNWA {Ed002's Note - There is no interest that I am aware of from Liverpool at this time.}

Problem is with rhodes is he contributes little to the team from what ive seen tbh

Andy Caroll to destroy the Euros! He will not be sold and next year will be our one man up front with Suarez in attacking midfield!
Heard it here first
Ralf ragnick

Suarez cant play AM. Too selfish with the ball and slow too pass.

Well then I've wasted 40 quid

AC up front...oh goody!!...guaranteed top of the table then...the SECOND half of the table that is...how on earth did it ever come to this for LFC??

Hi guys,
Strong rumours about sigurdson and Diame

Thanks
(my birthday is I the opening day of the transfer window, if we buy a decent striker it would be a great birthday present

What buy a desent striker you have 2 good strikers, suarez is a very good forward and even carroll is getting better for you,i know you will say ye didnt score enough goals last season but ye have to feed the forwards for them to score so ye trouble lies with players like downing with no assists for a winger is shocking.Terry

What is with the use "ye" shakespere?

Terry we still need 1 more striker kuyt has gone and bellamy has issues with his knee's so if anything was to happen to saurez or carroll we would be stuffed its finding the rught striker that can improve the team but he may have to spend some time on the bench depending how br rotates the squad but agree with what your saying carroll is starting to come good and hopefully saurez will still be at lfc next season and we definatley need a winger maybe 2 but 1 class 1 would be great some 1 to put the crosses in for the strikers

Good morning all, I am certainly not in the know or anything, but I mentioned after the Swansea game last season that after the handshake and arm around BR 's shoulder, could he be our next manager !! Well he is and I for one am pleased, but please please please get behind him and the team, and make Anfield roar again, no fan really wanted Roy and thus did'nt get behind him and we all know what happened that season, so lets get behind BR cheer him on and the players, turn Anfield into a fortress again and get LFC moving up the league, with a few tweaks things could really change, but I know all true LFC fans will get behind BR and the team, remember we are the 12th man at Anfield where the atmospohere can be truly electric, so please chaps and chapesses Support BR and the team.

Don't worry about the time it takes to get these things right. As far as i can see, what we're trying to build here is a philosophy, culture and complete style of play that will live on forever. Over the last 20 years or so we've gradually lost our identity, or indeed had it a bit battered and bruised, and this is what needs to come back if want to see results again.

Look at Barca, their style of play(i know... barca barca barca, but there is simply no better example.), although beautifully interpreted by Pep Guardiola, goes well beyond the man himself. It's something the club as worked very hard at over years and years and we've seen it pay off lately.
Now the more comforting part, we still have an identity, although it's taken a few knocks, it's still there, we just need to buy it a new wardrobe! This is where Rodgers comes in. With him, and a few other lads to help him out, along with Borrell at the Academy, we're finally looking at the future with real determination, instead of "it'll take time, but if it takes more than 3 months, we'll panic". I've said it a few times now "we're moving forward, we're moving forward" but we've never really had anything in place, and never really had a plan for the future, so what was basically naivety on my part really. But the owners have indicated a clear plan for the future, they've identified what the clubs culture will look like and what we will need to do to get there, so i can FINALLY say, with confidence this time, that this is just the beginning, that patience will be needed, but i feel the supporters will be more willing to lend the club their patience because we know there is a definite outcome from all of this. Clubs like Barca and indeed the liverpool teams of the 70s and 80s have given us the foresight to know what we're building for, and what can come from the right set of blueprints so to speak.
So please, all supporters must afford us the time it takes to get this right, no more quick fixes, no more bandage solutions.
It sounds silly, but we really have to ignore the last 22 years, we were in no way, shape or form rebuilding in that time, we were told that's what was happening, but we never saw a solid approach nor decent planning.

What i'd like, is posters just to reply with a number, indicating the position on next season final day table, of what they would consider the minimum requirement for what they would consider a "successful" season. Please be realistic too, because in my opinion, if we don't finish 4th, i won't be too bothered, but i'd like to think we can have a good run at it.
Ed's too if you don't mind, i'd like to be able to gauge just what expectations are going to be for the season ahead.

Cheers.

Top 4 finish and the Europa league would be a good season.

Just to let you all know mohammed diame is actually a great player not average as some of you seem to think, he will certainly push spearing out of the team completely and could
Infact replace lucas. Aswel as being a great tackler, is strong, tall, fast and can go from box to box with great technique and control. If we do get him ( it would be a big mistake not to) then i think we all be pleasently surprised. RedTurk

I very much doubt he would be better than lucas. Lucas has to be first choice if fit.
Indian Buzzer

Ive watched him a lot this season and he is in the mould of Yaya Toure, however he will not push Lucas out of the team. Not the Lucas that we saw dominate midfields this season anyway. And I seem to recall him Destroy Yaya Toure and David Silva at Anfield. Not that Lucas anyway. But I do agree, he is an excellent player.

Theres a rumour around here guys that sturridge could be going to use,am not sure if its a season loan or perminent deal.Terry

What's the score with his heart condition though ?
Is he likely to pass a medical ?

We dont know what kind of player lucas will be when he comes back, it may take some time for him to get back to his best, i always rated lucas even when most where slating the lad

The amount of guff Terry writes about LFC on here, and on the chavski site makes me think Sturridge must be on his way. I wish the EDs posted the comment I sent yesterday on this matter (Terry)....

great site eds !! just curious on how much brendan rodgers will get in the summer? we spent loads last season and didnt get very far so how much will he get this year ?? keep up the good work {Ed002's Note - I doubt that there will be a fixed amount.}

If we had £30 million plus player sales for instance, outs ; downing £10 million, spearing £2-3 million, c. Adam £5million and possibly andy carroll if an offer comes in for about £20 million. With the money from sales and a 30 million pot we could certainly replace them with better quality. RedTurk

Are you mad sell players we purchased last season. We will the be in the same boat bringing new players in that will take at least 1 season to settle

Do some people not understand we will not sell every single player brought last season when they were signed for the FUTURE. ffs

cant help but notice not much coming out of anfield these days, the papers etc trying to make stuff up as usual, I for one although frustrated at the lack of transfer news find it refreshing that the club are keeping tight lipped about the whole thing,eg just cos maxi was on hols the press put 2 and 2 together to make 5, long may it continue and lets hope when the signings happen we will be pleasantly surprised. The not knowing makes it very intriguing and somewhat exciting, do the EDs find it harder to get any solid info for eg,love the site,Carrano1fan YNWA

Hi eds do you expect Liverpool to maybe make bids for a couple of players today as it is the start of the euros? {Ed002's Note - I really don't know when bids will actually be made.}

They may wait until euros are over, they may have already made bids... nobody knows... One thing is for sure, it'll be completely out of the blue, and it'll be for players we have never even mentioned on here.

Sorry hit submit
Skertl: not the quickest, gets by with his positioning due to his die hard body on line attitude. Our 2nd best header of a ball.
Johnson: best technical wing back we have, quick accurate passer. Drifts from position a lot.
Enrique: quick, comfortably with ball at feet, strong for size. Weak against same type of player as concentration drifts in and out too often.

Sorry, I'll do rest later I'm off 2 download festival to lose my mind.
Piddy

Mate, that lineup is ridiculous this year, i doubt you're comin' back at all...

Ignore the positions of players we are linked with and how many we already have in that position. Brendan will be bringing zonal type football.
Groups of 3-4 players per zone moving the ball quickly from zone to zone.

A few Benefits: quicker version of a classic counter attack. Builds huge team spirit and confidence, no one can hide in a game.zone rotation across the middle top third of the pitch is the main focus. How often do you see Messi linking with Xavi Busquets etc, next he in and around the area with them.

Downside: takes a good 2-3 seasons to get right, can be boring for fans . Players have to be 100% on the game at all times.

There are a few versions of tika-taka most will have seen the difference with Spain or barca. Spain can switch and ignore the style if needed. Barca stick to it no matter what.
I'm thinkin Brendan may adapt Spanish style to suit the physical PL game.
Set of disciplined, technically aware and most of all determined players cut this type of game.
Reina: used to the style through Spanish training, we see it all the time passing out from the back, or if he sees player in space he can accurately find them, goalie is part of the defence zone.
Agger, one of the best ball playin CB's around and most importantly rarely caught out of position.
Skertl

Some people are really over anylasing it it's just 433 only pushing your full backs higher up the pitch and your holding midfielder drops in and takes the ball

Tika taka isn't meant to be counter-attacking in any way

eds, not really a rumour, but i was just thinking back to the 09-10 season in the january transfer window, when we were strongly linked with a move for ruud van nistelroy (spelling), in fact i think i remember him attending one of our games, and cheering when we scored, so i was wondering if you knew what ever happened to the deal?? Again i know it's not theat important, but this subject has really annoyed me over the past 2 years.

Hi Eds & Reds,

On the eve of the Euro 2012, I am just wondering by this time tomorrow night, how long will it take for someone to start the "we should sign the Plosh left back, he looks good" to the " Greek right winger will sign for us", by Sunday evening I expect to see " Rodgers in Gdansk to seal deal for Jelavic and Whelan".

Oh you got to love the Euros!!

COYBIG

Rebel_Red {Ed016's Note - Ofcourse, all We have a Euro section also set up for the site. Yes after major tournaments player prices can inflate. Also yes, there will of course always be people who post asking about a player after seeing them play well}

I will be pointing out players that looked good, but not in the "are we interested" context, i'll just be noticing these lads as a fan of the game.

Red7.

A few to look out for.

-Giannis Fetfatzidis - GR - will hopefully play a bit, lots of old legs in the squad though, very good older legs at that too in Katsouranis and Karagounis, but if he gets his chance this lad, he'll take it!

-Sotiris Ninis - GR - Will play and will surprise! unfortunately on ManU rader though...

with all the rumours surrounding the imminent signing of Mohamed Diame, im just wondering if one of the eds or anybody else can clear up why was he released by wigan and if he is such a good player why did nobody go in for him last January on a pre contract, also i dont recall him getting much game time last season.
Jaydee YNWA {Ed016's Note - Maybe he wanted a move and just didn't sign a new contract. He was linked when Kenny was in charge, since then heard nothing}

He fell out with Martinez because of his involvment in the African nations cup.

I would prefer the club to stay away from african players. The african cup of nations can be a real nuisance plus diame has some heart problems. best we stay away n go for jordy clasie.
Indian Buzzer

I think Diame could be a gem of of a player he reminds me a lot of, dare i say it 'yaya Toure'.
Would be a quality free signing.

Thomas insists: £10m playmaker will sign for LFC "without a doubt". Good news?

look as this for a headline. this is talking about Gylfi Sigurdsson. when did he become worth 10m, I'f I was liverpool and his club tried to jack the price up past £7m then i'd walk away. no negotiations nothing just say no thank you goodbye.

Maybe it's not Gylfi, maybe it's Rasmus...

Let's not forget about many other players who have been at some point in recent times linked with the club:

Clint Dempsey, Rasmus Elm, Ryad Boudebouz, Adam Johnson, Milos Krasic, Borja Valero, Gaston Ramirez and Esteban Granero to name just a few of the possibilities that could be defined as a ''play maker.''

''£10 million'' could easily be £15 million or even £20 million, as information tends to change ever so slightly here and there upon it's travels.

I wait patiently until there is genuine news. We have the Euro's to keep us busy and entertained, with many of the Liverpool players featuring for England.

I just hope they stay injury free for the start of the season, have a great experience, learn from it and have some quality memories when it's all finished coming back better players.

I don't want a lot really :)

Or maybe it is Diego Ribas of Wolfsburg. Fits the bill more than all the other players mentioned.

07 Jun 2012 23:13:03
Why do we all moan about our club being dragged into the 21 century.
We sit on here and complain about anything our owners do instead of looking at the bigger picture and seeing where we go. Here is the way I see it

Dalglish
Yes he was a great player but as you all say about rodgers inheriting a Swansea side dalglish also inherited a side first time around and then he let them all get old together, tactically sometimes you wondered what the hell he was thinking, i.e getting beat at home to west brom last season and we sub a left back for another left back. Most of the times last year travelling back from matches the conversation was about how rubbish we were and we had nothing in midfield

Benitez
Yes another good manager but should of won us the title in 08 if he had not went on his fact rant, got no ref decisions after that.

Players
You all sat on here during the season and had a go at Henderson but never had a go at spearing until after the fa cup final. Spearing has never been any good, his passes from midfield were shocking, way to slow but would then stand there in the middle and wave his hands to say it was not his fault, I can't remember him putting many tackles in last season. Maybe spearing should have play on the wing like Henderson had to all season.

New kits
Yes they are different but did we want our kit to look like Chelsea or anybody else sponsered by addidas.

Stadium
What ever the owners decide to do they need to make a stadium that is different from everybody else, when you go to all the other grounds there is about 3 different designs just some are bigger than others.

George
Is it just me or do we need to start looking at pre match songs. When you go to away grounds you get excited for the match to start by what music is getting played, but come to Liverpool and you have to listen to local Liverpool bands that he has seen play in the picket. It needs to be livened up to get the crowd going.

What I am really saying is that we need to get behind the whole team including the owners to get the whole club into the 21st century off and on the pitch.

I agree with most of it..... But you can't hold George entirely responsible for the music, before every home game the official website holds a poll for fans to select the pre-match play list.... C'mon La, leave good ol' George alone eh?

George Gillet has no control over music at Anfield he was MC like once in 08 that is all.

Good post.

Lets also mention that some fans wanted Dalglish out, some wanted him to stay, some wanted Rafa back, some didn't, some welcomed the Rodgers appointment, some didn't, some really liked the new kit, some didn't, some think George is part of the fabric of the club, some think he should be replaced with a newer up-to-date model, etc etc. The point is the owners can never please everyone, there'll always be fans unhappy, or that think they know better.
Just trust the owners, and give them time. Neither Rome (nor the current Barca setup) was built in a day - or a couple seasons.

Also, the fans moaned bitterly when liverpool was an open book and every man and his dog knew what was going on. Now the fans have what we wanted, which is business happening behind closed doors (the liverpool way I believe many fans regularly brought up at the time), many fans are complaining they can't find out what is going on, which of course must mean the club aren't doing anything. Get real!

Support the club. Trust the owners and new managerial team. We are supporters, we have no say in the core running of the club (thank god).

SCF27

I love the new home kit, the away kit isn't too bad

Hi eds,

rumours are that diame and sigurdson are on their way into the club does this not mean that we will have way to many cm coming in ?

Gerrard, adam, lucas, spearing, aqualani, joe cole as he wants play cm, plus them

Do you expect us to get rid of any of them ?

also hope diame doesnt sign just shows that we are becoming an average club by signing a medioca player, we need to be buying top quality european players now that we are back in Europe even if its europa

LFCHero :)!

Hi Eds. Am a little curious, who made the decision to turn Lucas from CAM to DM? Was it Rafa, the scouts or Lucas himself? {Ed016's Note - Rafa Rafa Benitez}

It was Lucas himself. If you watch his interview on LFCTV he says he had the choice because he could not cope with the physical demands of being a box to box midfielder in the Prem so decided (along with Rafa) to concentrate on the defensive side. The Robster.

07 Jun 2012 22:12:00
Diame looking likely to sign on the 1st if July on a free transfer, eds, do you reckon he's the quality we should be looking for or do you think we should be going for better? {Ed016's Note - Very strong, good control, fantastic skill. powerful tackle. Could do a great job for us.}

Ed, I need your help here, if he is that good, why are Wigan allowing him walk on a free? {Ed005's Note - Because his contract was out and they wouldn't have been able to keep hold of him and a rocky relationship with RM.}

If hi is that good way non of big teams are goin for him? Only us and clubs like villa are after him

Barca tried to sign him 3 years ago if I'm not correct but he failed a medical great player to have away from home as he will dominate midfield

Its fair to say that Diame coming in will see the end of Spearing....

hey eds. Great job keeping us informed. Just curious, how serious are these Alonso rumours? Would Madrid consider selling him to us?I'd love to see him back {Ed016's Note - Just rumours if anything.
