Just a question ( aimed at SOME non scousers really ) for the posters who criticise anybody who is concerned about the direction the club has gone and is going in.

A lot of you advise said posters to go and support City or Chelsea if you want instant success, well here is my question. What first attracted you to the most succesful club in English football?

Would you even be here slagging off concerned supporters if we had stayed a club in or around the 1st and 2nd divisions? I'm a scouser and was born a Red so regardless of history and trophy's I have always known my team.

Can any of you honestly reply to this post and say you would support Liverpool regardless of what division they were in all those years ago and without the cups they won?

Don't twist your reply to suit your answer, simply answer the questions I have posed ( if this gets posted, shocked if it does ) I am expecting merely disagrees to be honest because you non scousers who tell people to go support another team because there worried about our future can't possibly defend what you post because of the irony.

Waro

Spot on Waro lad. Being told how to support our team by fans who wouldn't be here if we weren't successful. Almost all scouse reds I know don't like Rodgers. I wonder what attracted them all to the 18 time league winning, 5 time champions of Europe? And yet we aren't 'true' fans and should support a team from a city we aren't from.

When I was about ten I loved football full stop. I didn't really have a team, more favourite players, I loved Shearer, Le Tiss, Ian Wright, but particularly Robbie Fowler. I'd watch football whenever it was on the tele, but MOTD every week as well. I found myself wanting to watch LFC every week and wanting them to win and it went from there, eventually turning into a full on love affair with the club. You can only really be part of football if you can follow it through attending matches or watching it on the tele, so no I probably wouldn't support LFC if they had been in div 2 when I started watching football because they would never have caught my eye. But I love LFC and I can't change that, I don't have the same love for any other team, win or lose.

'what attracted you to the most successfull club in england'

this is Liverpool page not united mate

I think a fair question and deserves a fair response. I'll preface this with I've never and will never tell anyone on here to 'go support another team' though and never would, so perhaps I'm not the ideal candidate to answer!

For me, I'm an American currently living on the western side of the US. I became a Liverpool many years back now. At the time, I had just started watching more EPL games and figured it would be a lot more interesting if I had a 'team' that I followed. So, I watched the games a bit more clinically than I had previously and one day saw a match (can't remember what it was, might have a CL game or one against ManU/Everton) and they showed the crowd singing YNWA. I was hooked instantly as I thought it an amazing sentiment and the sheer noise from Anfield the rest of the game only reinforced my opinion. At the time, I had no real knowledge of LFC's history or pedigree and for all I know they could have been relegation candidates and it wouldn't have mattered.

Fast forward to today. What I can say is you guys/gals in Liverpool who are lucky (and yes, I understand it costs a small fortune!) enough to get into Anfield are not only influencing the game at hand on the pitch, but you're also recruiting potentially new members into the legion of supporters and those new supporters (like I once was) bring additional revenue into the club via things like LFCTV subscriptions and ordering kits and such from the online store.

Apologies for the length of the post, but you asked.

What's more, it's not so much the constructive comments, it's the people who come on here and slag off BR, FSG and whichever players are having an off game, because FSG won't buy us Cavani or Neymar. If people only support LFC when they win, they should support a different team, a team who will buy success, which will in turn satisfy their footballing needs. There is a difference between "this is why I am concerned about the direction of our club. " and "WE ARE rubbish! BRENDAN AND FSG OUT WERE going to GET RELEGATED!"

To the third reply - you really need to do some research

Fair point really Waro, it's great for us to have a World wide fan base and I think most see themselves as genuine fans but the fact is they don't choose to support? say, Tranmere Rovers, having said that, wherever you go in the World you will find a scouser and he'll more than likely be preaching the lfc gospel and I wouldn't deny anyone the chance to feel what I feel when I watch the boys playing towards the kop.

Scouse parents, simple as that {Ed001's Note - my daughter has the same thing, she doesn't have a choice, even though she is down south, she follows us or else! She has it far from easy though, it has not been a good time to be a Liverpool fan in recent years.}

Let me apologize to the poster who wants to know if this is a Liverpool page or united page.
Yes you are very right it should be
"The most successful English club in world"
honestly England is a small place compared to world or even Europe, I you still have doubts let's meet up and Ill apologize to you personally.
Red 316

Ps: What attracted me to Liverpool was the true grit, the determination, the passion, the solidarity we show on field and off field. few of these things are missing right now but you don't lose them they are still with us and you never know when it will come back, then there won't be any other team who will match us.
call me deluded, don't care, I call myself a true Red not Red F***** devils

Red 316

I can honestly say I would. I'm not from Liverpool, however half of my family are, I had no choice who I supported, and can say i'm glad Liverpool was drummed into me from the day I was born. You can't judge all non scousers as the same. I've been to hundreds of games home and away all over the country. i'm only 22 so i've never experienced the glory days. Am I more or less of a 'True Liverpool Fan' than a 'Scouser' who never goes to a game? The times we are experiencing now and the times as I was growing up in the 90's only make you appreciate the good times (istanbul) even more

Interesting, but seriously flawed. Tell me, how many fans from India, Austrailia, Africa, and come the summer Thailand saw Liverpool play over 20 years ago when we were winning titles?
A lot of the posters on here have known nothing but a succesfull Man Utd. But it highlights one thing about you, if everton were the most succesfull team and Liverpool were in the second division, we can see which club you would be following, and probably shouting for moyes to be sacked now for not winning the league.

I think you need to check your facts noname - Liverpool are the most successful club in England
DT

Waro are you saying that you can categorically confirm that no 'scouser' has ever said go and support another team on this site? I've seen a lot of your posts from months ago and thought although sometimes a little misguided you were pretty good value in the banter stakes but that post is really poor.
DT

I wasn't born in Liverpool, but I live around the area. I still have family who live in Liverpool. My dad as a youngster, used to watch Liverpool one week and Everton the next. He used to get spat on in the crowd by the other kids because he went to a private school and they could tell because of his school uniform. He no longer watches either side, as most fans have become pretty moronic (His opinion). It doesn't matter where you are from its the respect you give a fellow supporter that matters. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, no matter what colour, race or background they have. I don't agree with 90% of the stuff people put on here, but at no point do I feel the need to come on and start a flame war over something I have no control over. Sometimes you just have to sit back and enjoy the good times (Which the club and fans have had many) and get super drunk to forget the bad times (Please drink responsibly). or just be thankful you aren't an Everton fan.

It really doe's my head in when I read that phrase" Go and support someone else then" if you don't happen to agree with the direction we seem to be going in. For a start it just sounds childish, plus I've supported Liverpool since I was 6yrs old and was taken to my first match, I'm now 54, don't these people realise I could no more go and support someone as I could change the colour of my eyes. Over the years I have invested my time and money in the club so don't tell me I'm not entitled to my opinion.

Dav

I've supported Liverpool for 34 years because the Panini stickers in '79 seemed harder to get than other clubs. And most my family are from Southport. And Kevin Keegan sounded like the name of a superhero.

Most people start supporting a club as a kid and they will naturally sway towards the more successful clubs unless their family and friends have a strong affiliation. Geographic location doesn't mean anything anymore (although if you're born in Liverpool or Manchester its unlikely you will start supporting Bristol City) - the global nature of the game means that millions of supporters have never set foot in the UK, let alone the city of Liverpool. I'm sure most residents of Barnet will be either Arsenal or Spuds supporters. Success breeds popularity.
The reasons for supporting the club are irrelevant - what is important is that, once you have chosen your club, you stick by them through thick and thin whatever division they are in.

I've always lived in the South East of England and supported a team in the North West.
The reason I support them is because of my Dad.
My Dad has always lived in the South East and supported a team in the North West.
My Dad's Father, I don't call him Grandad, left the family when my Dad was five years old.
My Dad didn't have a team to support, other than England.
He saw a brilliant player playing for England.
He said who ever that man plays for, he will support.
That man was Kevin Keegan, and he played for Liverpool.
My Dad and I will never support another team.
Whether we win, lose or draw Liverpool is our club.

I do not support them because they used to be the best.
I support them because they can be the best again.

Lol I'm a southerner but my dads a scouser so when I was younger I used to get told watching Liverpool was church and we all had to watch it so I wouldn't ever support anyone else.

Bad times though no one down here supports them so I'm a lone wolf fighting against all the mancs (don't know why there's so many down here) and arsenal fans : ( bad times my dads getting a bit clueless now he only knows old players and just has a go at Gerard every time he mucks up lol clueless old man

A wise man once said, "If you can't support us when we lose or draw, don't support us when we win"

End of discussion.

Moody

Im from wakefield so we don't really have a team, everyone says I should support Leeds because they r next door to us and I say **** u I support who I want to support and I support Lfc because I never really had a team when I was a young lad, just grew up watchin the Spice boy era mcmanaman, fowler, redknapp etc and loved everything about Liverpool fc not just the players so I began my journey and love affair with the reds. I always try to get to at least one game every season (times are hard moneywise so its tough) and show my support for my beloved reds. I also make sure I visit the city (which I think is the best city in England or as I would say 'its own country') I think everyone who wasnt born in Liverpool who support the team will have their own unique story to tell, there will be the odd few that support us because of our luxurious past but that wasnt what attracted me. I will support LFC if they end up in my Sunday league somehow?! And I will support them when I die!

Supporting a team depends on lots of thinks. Color of the team, history and obviously charismatic players and fans are the most vital factors.

Lots of people support Liverpool for gerrard, coutinho and suarez.

just suppose if you bring tom ince how much will support us but bringing in some one like higuain will obviously increase the support.
Though I have to say they are no way "true supporters". But its an important factor without any doubt!

Would most of us support LFC? No, because without them in the Premiership, many of us would struggle of to get news of LFC never mind about actually see them occasionally play, so we probably wouldnt. But I once posed this question on our another group (why do you support LFC) and here are the replies I got:

Heard YNWA and got hooked.
Local to the area.
Most attractive team when I got into football (not necessarily winning but most enjoyable).
Local to the area.
First team ever watched in the stadium and got hooked.
Got hooked by a specific match, usually a crushing win.
Family didn't give me much choice.
All my friends were Mancs and I didn't like my friends much.

Only one, two at a huge stretch, are anything to do with being successful. Personally, I started supporting because my dad does and my dad started supporting because they were the first team that came to his country to play, and he respected them for travelling to a smaller country where they had loads of fans who never got to see them despite it not being the most commercially sound thing to do. I believe Wigan also travel abroad in pre-season?

My OP is not having a pop at how people became Liverpool supporters it was to highlight people who because they blindly back everything that is going on at the club feel they have the right to slag people who are not happy with the direction the club is heading, calling them glory hunters who should go support city chelsea etc etc.

Just pointing out the contridiction.

Waro

Well, for me it was strange. I never used to watch football or was interested in football as I am from India. It has always been a sport that when you mention to your friends, they smirk, including me. I never even had any interest in watching the World Cups!

Then one day, sometime in 2006, I saw a midweek game LFC were playing. I don't know what happened but I just liked the them. I was cautious at first and watched other teams play, including Chelsea with Mourinho, Arsenal and UTD. But they didn't change my mind and even though I try to reason why I support LFC sometime, I can't answer. I just love LFC.

I have only seen us win 1 trophy (last year) and the majority of the time since I have been a supporter, we have been outside the top 4, but not even for one second can I imagine supporting another team in the world.

LFC changed my whole perspective about football in general and now I can't go a day without thinking of the current season we are/were involved in and ofcourse reading this site.

Y does people like Barca. young kids. love them. there are atleast millions of sponosrs and deals with them.
thats coz. they are the best team in the world.
messi, xavi, inesta, villa, fabrigas.
now that's a dream for any football fans.
they win everything.
turns impossible to possible.
football is measured in this scale.
reputation. profit, wealth, players, and then comes fans.
Liverpool were once dominant. but now let's be real. we are not a great force.
may be we are playing better. but is that good enough?

Difference between fans, owners and players.

fans can wait. wait. wait. and wait.

players have a decent 5-10 years. they cannot wait.
owners are even in worse condition, they invest. and they need returns.

10 Apr 2013 10:42:13
Lower division games are not telivised or shown in tv. outside englnad.
so no one will care for the clubs or player who plays in lower division if they are living outsidw UK.
to get the best fans and best support. you need to be a top team.

I'm a 30 year old man born and raised in kent have supported Liverpool from the age of 5/6, reasons? 1-when I 1st got into football Liverpool were the best and always on t. v, 2-my best friend 2 years my senior supported Liverpool and 3rd and final reason is my aunt and uncle moved to dovecote due to work on e on a early visit they took me to anfield and then after to the what I can only remember as a portacabin in the car park to buy me my 1st Liverpool kit. I fell in love. Seen some bad times, some good unfortunately missed the best times but I'm still a proud red get to 3/4 games a season due to cost/travel/availability of tickets and I play weekends myself, hate when told to support my local club as I'm not glory supporter and u can't help who u fall in love with! For the record my local team are gillingham I do follow them occasionally attend games, would love to see us draw them in a cup comp! Kinderfish

Born Red amigo. Used to jump the 12 on Princess Drive when I was a little meff about 8 and try to be the 1st in the Kop when the gates opened and 3 hours later could pretty much see f*ck all and you're bang on about a fair few scousers being weary of Rodgers. He likes the sound of his own voice a bit too much for someone who has as many trophies as my cat and he probably talks about himself in 3rd party

My first memory of lfc was in the nineties watching Macca and Robbie terrorise defence after defence, sadly we didn't win much, I also remember enduring the first half of the Istanbul and nearly tearing the house down when we won, I also have plenty of other memories, I've been through the recent highs and lows with LFC and would not swap it for anything, even lady gaga. So even though I'm not from Liverpool I still support them just as much as any other scouser, and would continue to do so even if we dropped into league 2, although I would prefer them to stay in the premier league!

Never liked Skrtel and yesterday proved just how poor he is at defending and Liverpool fans honestly think he is better than Luiz, oh yeah he can tackle now and again but he cannot defend and should not be mentioned in the same bracket as players like Kompany and Vidic etc. And Sturridge is just poor everyone needs to stop kissing his **** he has one game against Man City and all of a sudden he is a great player in fact apart from Gerrard, Suarez, Coutinho who is any good? I hope Johnson goes as he has a big ego and is incredibly lazy and we have no good young players coming through, our team is not good enough for Champions League look at the bargains we could of had, Berbatov 3mil! Butland 3mil! But just because Berbatov isn't a workhorse brendan won't have him in fact I guarantee you if Messi was a free agent and wanted to join Liverpool (never happen) BR wouldn't bother he would just say 'he doesn't work hard enough' but just trying to stay positive.
Red Apple

Your message was a load a bull not ever going to get in to it with you only one part

Messi not having the work rate are you for real the main reason people say he is better than Ronaldo is because he is a team player who puts in a shift!!

what do u think eds? worth discussing or just recycled news

I will return to Liverpool one day almost certainly, I just don't know when, my daughters and wife are still living there rafa {Ed002's Note - I suspect he was talking of the city.}

His wife and daughters don't live in Liverpool, they live on the Wirral. {Ed002's Note - So you think the owners are about to yet again give in and give the fans what they want and sack Rodgers and bring in Benitez?}

Straight swap moyes for rafa. But I do think the Everton job is a bit to much for him.

He was talking of the club ed, He does still live in Liverpool with his family. {Ed001's Note - you might want to tell the owners then. They are not likely to want him back.}

Ed002 it has been confirmed that he was talking about returning to the club? maybe the owners see rafa as the best person to get us back into the champions league and quickly {Ed001's Note - not a chance, it is just more wishful thinking on his behalf, just like when he put his name forward in the summer and never came close to being appointed.}

I hope not!

10 Apr 2013 08:04:21
I was merely pointing out were his wife and daughters live ed002. Were you are geting I expect him to return I don't know. For the record there's not a snowballs he will return and myself think it would be a mistake if he did. {Ed002's Note - Clearly he doesn't know where his family lives if he says they live in Liverpool and you say they don't? Maybe he is just confused. Sparky will be looking for a new lodger in the summer - just a thought.}

10 Apr 2013 08:13:18
well I am not a fan of BR but sacking him and bringing on rafa would be disaster instead its better if we stick with him.

10 Apr 2013 08:33:34
He obviously doesn't ed002, geography like yourself seems not to be his strong point.

Ed Is there a possiblity of Rafa returning to the club maybe in a different role? i'm not saying I want him back. Maybe working with the youth sides or scouting. {Ed002's Note - He would need to lose a little weight and work on his fitness, but may still be able to provide adequate cover for Lucas.}

10 Apr 2013 09:35:11
Fantastic reply ed;) but I think we need his strength upfront!

Ha Ha love it ed002

Re. The recent Glen Johnson debate.

I've have always said that we should be playing him as a right winger.

I agree with those that say he has defensive lapses, so therefore would he not be of better use further forward? Think of all the times he makes a forward run with the ball, takes the full back on and beats them and/or gets to the byline with a result of a cutback pass more often than not.

He even gets in the odd curler/spectactular strike from those positions.

Would like other posters and eds views on this if possible.

He played there for Pompey and was outstanding. We bought him.
He plays right back for England and likes to play right back for his club, Liverpool fc.
I think he's outstanding in either position as I believe there's no substitute for skill on a football field.
(workrate players are ten a penny)
Don't know why people have a problem with him?
He is not the problem, we need natural heading ability and pace in the centre of the back 4 and pace in the covering midfielder role, when we get that? Johnson and Erique will shine even more than they do now.

Agreed, he's a wonderful player. I don't really see him not defend well neither, even though people keep saying he cant. i'd like him just to learn when to push on, and i'd like for him to press the crossers of the ball quicker, same for enrique.

He wants to play right back so he can ensure he has that position for England same reason why he doesn't like playing left back and only will when needs must.

In Rodgers system he can get forward more than in other systems but it only works if one of the two deeper midfielders slots in to cover when an attack breaks down.

09 Apr 2013 22:17:06
is enrique worth keeping after the summer?

09 Apr 2013 23:08:09
YES!

Yep, also a fantastic player. just needs to pick moments when going forward, and close down the crosser quicker.

Hell yeah! the way he finished off that team goal against Swansea an his understanding with El pistolero should be enough to keep him already, don't get me started on his pace and strength, he makes the hulk look like little red riding hood.

after watching champs league I am so annoyed at the downspiral of our club over my lifetime, yeh we've had a few good moments but they are gradually getting lesser and watching dortmund etc having great nights i'm just in a negative mood at the fact we may not even be in this competition again. we have a small stadium with no atmosphere, unknown manager, only two players worthy of champs league, one which may likely leave and other is getting past it and owners who can't provide money. I just can't see a future for us unless we get rich. sorry but just realising some home truths.
bring on the attacks for being a realist.

Come on AVB I am sure life is not that bad, if you do not make CL this year just keep trying

Thought it was avb as we haven't got any

Even if we won the league 5 times on the bounce the extacystill wouldn't emulate Istanbul

10 Apr 2013 09:13:43
I hope this gets posted as I tried last night and it didn't come through! iam actually happy you post garbage like this so I can use it to show you how wrong you are!

Did you know?
1. Klopp is in his 5th season with Dortmund!
2. Klopp by most peoples defenition on here was a mickey mouse manager! He was brought from Mainz.
3. Klopp was brought to Dortmund to rebuild with minimual funds!
4. klopp did not have any notable sucess in his first 2 seasons!
5. He bought 2 players with him from mainz
6. He kept pumping through youngsters!
7. The board kept supporting him and had patience and look where they are!
Except the 1. Point its obvious to anyone with a long-term vision that its the same path we are going! You may not know much about football! But when I watch Dortmund and how far they have come in the last 3 seasons it fills my heart with hope, because we are exactly on the same path when klopp took over there! Patience please! Where would Dortmund be know for sacking klopp after no sucsess in his first 2 seasons and f. eks buying M. zidan from Mainz! We are better placed than you think! If people only were more positive and patient that good energy would have helped the team! No doubt!

Just finished watching dortmund vs malaga. what a end to the game. Have a question though. was the second malaga goal offside? I thought it was but some people say it actually wasn't.

I think it was the line on the pitch shows it
I hope Rogers was watching and rrealises that pumping it into the box when your down and out who cares if it's ugly once you win sometimes it has to be ugly if your loosen nothing to loose

Dortmunds 3rd defnitly was. from the cross, 4 offside. then when finally bundled in, the defender on the line technically become the keeper, and the actual keeper was the opposite side of the scorer, equalling offside. if that makes sense?

It was pretty much do or die for dortmund at the end.

Dortmund 3rd and Malaga 2nd were both offside, as was PSG's first last match VS Barca. And the linesman behind the goals weren't suspicious of any of them

09 Apr 2013 21:46:07
If BR has learnt one thing from Morinho, I hope it is his ability to get his players to run through brick walls for him. Love him or loathe him, Morinho forges one hell of a bond with his players - they will die trying to win a game for him.

09 Apr 2013 21:55:14
mourinho has a radical personality and a likeable guy, you just never know what he is going to do next, fergie also has a strong character and is always in the news about something. brendon has about as much personality as a sponge and will just try say the right things to suck up to the fans rather than voice an actual opinion. complete yesman whos philosophy should be took elsewhere to a slow boring league

True when he was in England but with Madrid he fell out with clothing of players

I don't think so far he has shown he has the ability to do that yet. However, what he has shown is an abilty to improve players confidence/perfomance. ie Henderson and Downing

Iker begs to differ

09 Apr 2013 22:27:25
Mate ferguson and Mourinho are born winners they can't take defeats when united gets defeated the dressing room is upside down neither Mourinho can take defeats, just google hair dryer treatment and you will understand why they are succesfull, at the sametime they started their career with bang fergie didn't struggle winning trophys in scotland neither mourinho struggled in portugal so they didn't learn to take defeats they only learned how to win!

Ferguson got sacked from his first job after being taken to a tribunal by the young secretary who was unfairly mistreated by Ferguson, who the judge described as a petty man.
Wenger got relegated in his 1st management job as did Klopp.
Point is, I disagree, you have to experience the lows to go on to achieve the highs.

10 Apr 2013 00:55:35
Feguson was enjoying beating the likes of barca and madrid for european trophys when he was in scotland what you talking mate, and why bring wenger in debate, how many league titles or champions league trophy has wenger won in 18-22 years as Arsenal manager?

10 Apr 2013 08:21:13
rodgers is just a good coach but he is not a motivator its clear he just don't have that quality whenever things are not going well we really look lost our team do not have that winning mentality I actually believe we have a decent squad as compared to other team around us.

Hi The Real AG. Thought it was about time I came back on here!

Hey Ed001, Ed002 & Ed052 how you all doing?

Ps. Me and The Real KB are 2 different people

Hi United Kolours of Benneton. You are not the same people! :o

There goes my theory I can remember most of the names here.

The real AG {Ed001's Note - I get confused just keeping up with the editors, let alone the posters!}

Out of curiosity, how many editors are there ED?

The real AG {Ed001's Note - it changes all the time mate, some get bored of doing it and move on and others join. I think there are about 20 at the moment across the sites.}

Cheers Ed001.

Comparing BR's current situation with that of Shankley's or SAF's all those years ago - in a totally different era of the sport - is completely rediculous and I'd go as far to say embarrassing.

To illustrate my point - could the same thing not be said about any manager who doesn't excell in their first season!?

Agree or disagree?

HB

09 Apr 2013 21:37:02
Fans are finding every excuse in book to cover Rodgers disaster season that`s all mate, no one can be compared with great managers because example mean nothing in footy.

If you compare Rodgers to Shanks or Fergie then at the sametime anyone can compare Rodgers to souness after all Rodgers has even broken souness records, souness atleast won trophys where Rodgers after spending 60M couldn't even achieve minimum targets like europa or decent run in cup competions etc.

anyone comparing Rodgers to Shankly or fergie is just foolish, that will never happen or else today we would have many shanklys and fegusons or paisleys managing teams.

Don't get me wrong I'm not dissing BR here, that's a totally seperate issue. But the comparsion is complete tosh in my book and has no basis to it.

HB

The point is that managers need time and support.
I hope people are not saying Brendan Rodgers WILL be as great as Shankly or Ferguson.
I hope people are praying that Brendan Rodgers CAN be as good as them though.

Give Brendan Rodgers time and support and see what he can do with it.
A managers first season should not be his best, it is the start of a transition.

Liverpool won the Champions League in 2005.
Rafael Benitez did it with Gerrard Houllier's team.
We did not deserve to win the match, we were out played but hung on and miracles happened.

Liverpool lost the Champions League in 2007.
Rafael Benitez had made Liverpool his team.
We deserved to win that match, Milan hung on and their miracles happened.

Liverpool came second in the Premiership in 2009.
Rafael Benitez had made Liverpool one of the best sides in Europe.
We should have won the league with the side that we had, but we didn't.

Those moments are what Rafael Benitez will be remembered for.

I don't think any Liverpool manager will match Rafael Benitez's first season.
I do believe Brendan Rodgers can achieve better than Rafael Benitez did in his six seasons here.

I think People just compare the situations out of hope of returning to the glory years that's why you can get benitez being hailed as jesus or hodgson actually being trusted by fans to manage a top team or its gets worse, a country! His tactics would probably put my aunt to sleep and with her love of coffee that's no easy feat.

I have tickets for the Everton game at the min all games for that weekend are down for 3 o'clock on the Saturday does anyone know when times gets confirmed coming from dublin and don't want to give Ryanair a extra penny by booking to early thanks. {Ed002's Note - A couple of days.}

09 Apr 2013 19:01:20
A few points I would like to make. Firstly, I've seen people who don't go the game on here criticising the atmosphere created by those who do. Well I tell you what, buy a ticket and start singing, until then stick to watching it on a stream and shut up. That isn't a dig at fans who don't go the games by the way, as there are plenty of reasons why people can't, but it does my head in seeing fans criticised who pay a fortune to watch the lads.
Secondly, people who keep comparing the situation we are currently in under Rodgers, to how Fergie and Shankly needed time and how would people have reacted then if it was like it is today. It is an insult to two of the greatest managers in history, and giving somebody time, does not guarantee success in the slightest. The most important thing is having the best, and right man for the job.
Thirdly, the fact that Rafa has said he will almost certainly manage us again has made my day. He is a top class man, and I think, is still a top class manager. I'm not sure if him coming back would work, if I am honest, but the man loves this club, and the fans, and the City. The work he has done for Hillsborough, and Istanbul will mean he will always be a club legend. The way some of the people on here talk about him is pathetic.
JFT96
Smithy

Smithy, the man will always be a club legend you are right about that but that doesn't mean it wasn't the right time for him to go (if not a little too late) it also doesn't mean he should ever get the job again. He messed up mate and you really need to move on

Post off the day Smithy. Well done lad.

I've been trying to get two tickets for me and my dad to go and sing our hearts out for years. The cheapest I've been offered is £160. Each. For a £45 face value ticket. How about the fans 'who pay a fortune to be their' either start singing or give up their tickets for the value of their tickets, not just try and make a quick buck off desperate supporters? You (not you personally but people) cannot not sing, take their ticket every match and then criticism others for having a go when they don't go themselves

Out of the 3 CB's that Liverpool Are Regularly Linked With From the Dutch Eredivisie - Toby Alderweireld - Stefan de vrij - Bruno Martins Indi -1. Who do you Guys Rate Higher? 2. Who is the Most Realistic of the 3?. would like to know your Insight. and as always Appreciate the Reply.

concon

I would think Alderweireld would be most likely - scouts have watched Ajax a lot this season and he has been in pretty good form. He has also let the club know publicly that he would like to join. It looks a possibility in any case. I would say he would be a really good signing as well.

I hope we get two class centre backs though. We need the competition so Agger keeps his game going - I have noticed that he has been quite poor in parts this season but has shown much better fitness.

Don't think alderweireld is interested

Well Alderweireld is clearly Interested if he came out and said it I Agree about Agger also but he is still one of the best around. and Cheers for the Response Eds, :/

He didn't say it, the press changed it all around!

He did say it, he never said we were first choice for him though just that Newcastle wouldn't be in the running in his mind and Liverpool would be. Feynoord has also confirmed that they would be willing to sell Indi

Why not both. ?

Cause eriksen see's his future else where

Anyone else think Rogers had many ideas at the start of the season that seemed to dry up for example 3-5-2 formation hasn't been used for a while I think Europe is over so maybe experiment with a few ideas. I used to like 3center half's god knows it would suit our fullbacks better

Cheers

What like (with current players)

Reina
Kelly Skrtel Agger

Johnson Lucas Gerrard Enrique

Coutinho

Sturridge Suarez

Personally, I agree. I think a back 3 of say Wisdom, Carra, and Agger would create a stronger overall team and would allow Johnson/Enrique to go forward with less implication if they get caught up the field. For next season, something like Kelly, new player, Agger could even be better I think.

Thats just 5 at the back wrote down differently

Should of used it more tactically in certain games could have done it the weekend to give us more width and stretch the game. I thought the villa game at home was another were we were overrun the extra man in the center meant we wouldn't have got dragged apart like we did. Would also like to see enrique used further up tactically could have been another option at the weekend bringing assaidi on was a waste also johnson plays better left back and had a stinker on the right

Any taughts ed001 did you like that formation? {Ed001's Note - it only works if the wingbacks will stay wide at all times to create width. It worked under Evans, because we had Bjornebye, Jones and McAteer for the position, all 3 were happy to hold out wide. If Johnson and Enrique are the options, then no I don't like that formation as both like to cut inside. It would just be a waste of time and leave us with even less options out wide than we already have.}

Alderweireld agger Kelly
Would be serious

At this moment of time with Europe looking out of our reach (unless with a bit of luck through the fair play league) I would really take a summer window with the following players coming in :
One of Lovren/Zambrano/Alderweireld
Bruno Martins Indi
Thomas Ince
Andres Weimann
A Decent DM (Medel would be a dream buy and potentially available for 6-8 million)
If some money left would also go for a decent back-up GK (Bunn or the lad on loan at Wigan)
Thats it. All very realistic and more importantly very within our price range and would absolutely improve the team with their respective attributes.
What do you reckon Fellow kopites?

**** knows, I really do think that nobody has a scooby doo who we r in for in the summer so i'm just gunna wait and see who arrives. We get linked to all these players and never end up getting any of em and sign players we heard nothing about.

Not alderweireld : (

If you had never heard of Sturridge or Coutinho before they came to Liverpool you can't have watched much football.

Just a quick question for all you reds. What do you think will happen to Mr Moyes over on the blue side of Liverpool?

Personally I think that he has become fustrated due to the lack of money for him and will move on at the end of the season. Everton will then sell their "star" players and will be relegated within the next 2 or 3 seasons.

Opinions welcome:)

Nah I doubt they will get relegated, they always just about stay up. I think a better manager might be on the way to them, Moyes is too negative and buys too many manc players.

09 Apr 2013 17:02:54

And how long have we all been saying that? It won't happen as there will be always to many poor teams for them to get relegated.

Yeah. with Chelsea in a couple of weeks, let's hope that's the last we see of him, ill always respect Benitez for Istanbul but he blew his chance at Liverpool, he spent shed loads of money only to finish 2nd once in league, then where did we finish year after that? Instead of kicking onwards and challenging, we ended up going backwards again. Like we did under houllier. We came 2nd in the league and instead of buying quality players, we bought useless squad players, that's why we went backwards and why they both lost there jobs. fact

09 Apr 2013 17:18:28
remember that summer 2002 world cup we got diao diouf I have to say houllier must have picked them on the strength of that french game they played. were was all his great scouting network he was bringing in nowhere, long ball merchant that's what he was. only a fool would consider heskey a better option than fowler up front, we should have stuck with roy for a while longer, look at the talent he had coming through. I like the sounds coming from br who has stated better to bring in a few who can make a difference rather than 6 squad players that's what rafa did unfortunately. Tommy Irish Red

He will be BRs replacement according to Abramovich

99redballoons

Ack17 good answer you don't see people calling for houllier back even though it was his team that won the champion league apart from one or two

I actually think in 2001/2002 we had our strongest squad at Liverpool under houllier but instead of buying diouf, diao and cheyrou, he should of taken up the agreement to buy anelka, but he didn't and he got the sack two years later, in came Benitez and won the champs lge with houlliers squad, there were only two players who rafa bought that played. Alonso and Garcia!

Can anyone explain how Skirtel has become a bad player?

It would be interesting to see the contrasting opinions from him nearly leaving and him hesitating in signing a new contract, to him being left out and rumoured to be leaving.

You don't become a bad player overnight.

DaveyBootle

09 Apr 2013 15:17:46
had a rift with BR over the FA cup elimination match.
thats should be cause

But he has been playing 'Bad' the whole season. he loses his concentration numerous times during a match and for a big man, he is just not strong enough or good enough in the air.

I think he wants to leave and will probably leave.

The real AG

The style of play.

Kenny Dalglish played a system that suited Martin Skrtel.
Defenders defend, and Martin is our best defensive player.

Brendan Rodgers played a system that doesn't suit Martin Skrtel.
Defenders play it out from the back, and Martin is struggling with that.

Either Martin Skrtel stays and learns to play in the new system or he goes and we find someone who can.

You can't become a bad player overnight, I agree. But, you can have a run of poor form, focus, and diminishing spirit. That over time is enough to affect your overall performance and attitude on the pitch. Somethings got to change for him, whether it's his approach or another team.

Horses for courses me thinks big Andy fits into that bracket also

Got his big contract

Skrtel had a great season last year. But other than that he as been inconsistent after his bad injury. When he first come though I thought he looked his best but its time he was moved on.

Get rid of the system and the manager behind it. {Ed001's Note - only an idiot gets rid of the system and manager because one fairly good player can't play in it. I would suggest getting rid of the player and getting a better one would make much more sense.}

I think the problem with Skrtel is that when attacking players run at him he just backs off and backs off and then doesn't put in any sort of challenge on them which results in the opposite team mostly scoring! This season he has been poor

Hello all.
This is not actually a rumour, but putting a rumour to bed.
You may or may not have seen the supposed Liverpool shirts for the 2013/14 season. There are three shirts. An o. k. home shirt a horrible 3rd shirt and an away kit that almost made me vomit.
I can confirm, through being a bit sad, that these are indeed fake.
Thinking that the home shirt look very familiar I done a little lunch time investigation. I had a look on the official online Liverpool store and the home shirt is simply a photoshopped (or whatever is used) image of this years home shirt. Take a look at the base fabric, the colours and the exact positioning of the badges, sponsor and the angles they fall at and it is clearly that image after tweeking. Thank God for that.
Saddo. I mean Mr H.

I really worry about how one footed some of our defenders are. Hyypia and Carragher were so good as both could use either foot (despite being mainly right footed).

I'll summarise each defender:
-Agger is effectively useless with his right foot. His 'carry the ball forward' style suits us very well, and he is great at getting us out of danger. His problem is he cannot tackle with his right foot, resulting in silly freekicks or player ghosting across him with ease. Given time to set himself though, he is solid in the tackle with his left side, and very good at tracking runners. He is very poor at set pieces though, and often his man is the one who scores.

-Skrtel is useless with his left. He has uncharacteristically added mistakes to his game this year. Like Agger, he struggles when people run at him, possibly due to a severe lack of pace, and cannot deal with people cutting across him. He is good in the air both offensively and defensively, but really lacks in the tactical side. He doesn't see runs in behind him and is often made to look worse by Johnson. Unlike Carragher, he doesn't have the awareness to cover both positions at once whilst Johnson gets back.

-Coates cannot use either of his left feet. He is very weak in the air depsite being a giant 6ft6. He cannot deal with runners at all, and has been described by his fellow players as 'possibly slower than Carragher'.

-Enrique is fairly left footed, but has the speed to recover for himself if someone runs across him. He doesn't track runners very well, but seems to be improving. He is certainly a good tackler, and one thing he possesses that not one other (first choice) defender we have does (despite the tattoos and hard man look) is natural strength. I cannot remember seeing Enrique knocked off the ball this season. Only Hulk has matched him physically. He has a tendancy to try too much or not think about his runs (both on and off the ball). This is a major weakness in our system, although when he makes the right run, he can be very creative. I like him as a player, but feel he needs competition, as our only other left back is currently 19 and on loan at Wolves.

-Carragher is still solid in the tackle with either foot, possesses great organisational skills, and tracks runners very well. He is also good at covering. His problem is age. He can no longer keep up with players running, and he is not a strong in the air as he once was.

-Johnson is a very powerful runner, and is a strong, but not sublime tackler. He is comfortable with either foot, which is a bonus. He adds another dimension to our attack, but too many times he is caught out. All great attacking fullbacks, do not let their attacking take priority over their defending. He has a habit of making the right sided centre back look bad as they constantly need to cover for him, and none of our player currently being used as a centre back, are quick enough to do so. He tracks runners very well, when in position and is also quite disciplined at set pieces despite not being too much of an aerial master. In my opinion, he can only continue to play as a right back if a faster centre back plays alongside him. I personally prefer him at left back, as he tends to maintain his focus better.

-Kelly would be a good option in the right centre back position, as he can tackle with either foot, tracks runners well and has the pace to catch them, is very strong in the air, and has the pace to cover for Glen Johnson. His time at right back would also help him in doing this. I really like Kelly, but his major issue is injuries. He is like Agger and Kompany roled into one, being strong and very tall as well as good on the ball, but the problem is, he is also as injury prone as Agger. Could have a great future, and I think less running due to being centre back, could be kinder on his ligaments.

-Wisdom is a lot like Kelly. Only not quite as good going forward, or as tall. Somehow at 6ft, he is still exceptional in the air, and very strong. He is also very quick over a short distance, and probably the most natural defender at our club (bar Carragher). He is very good at organising the defence, and has captained at every level he's played. great tackler with both feet, and surprisingly good with the ball at his feet. He just lacks experience in my opinion. He also tracks runners well. He will not make it at right back in our system as he doesn't offer enough attack wise, but him and Kelly could be a formidable partnership for years (assuming a certain Lloyd Jones doesn't knock either off their perch; excellent 16 year old in our accademy).

-Robinson, McLaughlin, Smith and Flanagan all have potential. Robinson is showing great signs at the moment on loan at Wolves but will need to do it at a higher level next season, or risk stagnation in his development. Stagnation is something Flanagan is familiar with. He lacks the height and strength to play in the middle, and the pace and passing to play as a right back. He could convert to a Mascherano like midfielder, but he will never reach our level in my opinion. McLaughlin and Smith are both very attacking right and left full backs respectively, who could have great futures. Smith will need another year in the accademy before he trains with the first team, after duffering a broken leg, but McLaughlin could see promotion as early as January next year if he continues to develop.

I hope my summaries are fair and helpful. For me, it outlines our need for one or two, two footed centre backs in place of the (likely) departing Skrtel and Coates, plus the retiring Carragher. A utility player would be good also (able to play either full back position or as a holding midfielder).

YNWA! (Adam)

Excellent summary Adam. I disagree on Agger no being comfortable with people running at him, most CB don't like players running at them, but Agger I think cops fairly well.

You also make an excellent point about how the right sided CB usually is made to look bad by Johnson.

McLaughlin is going to be an excellent RB. He has pace, is always forward thinking, has good movement, is comfortable on the ball and is agile, a quality that is a must for a full-back in my opinion.

The real AG

I have to disagree with you on coates, he has not played enough games for us to be judged on, have a look at him making his debut for uraguay in the last coppa america, and you will see a different coates, one who is match fit and plays all the time, it will be a very big mistake if we let him go, maybe a years or 2 on loan where he gets to play week in week out will show you how good this kid is

mickey b

Very well constructed and a good read. A lot better than the He's S**t that is usually posted on here

Really good post Adam.
I totally agree with your summary of Johnson and Kelly. I would like to see wisdom play a bit more but in a CB position, it is a bit of a shame that we look unlikely to be playing in Europe next season as this would of given him the opportunity.
I too think that we will be looking for 2 CB's next season hopfully they will be quick and be able to head the ball, because we always seem vulnerable at corners and set pieces.

Phooey.

Agger is a top class defender and I'm really happy that we have him. I would love to see Agger partner De Vrij, Alderweireld or Lovren.

Adam,

Well guys, we think we are in a bad place and then our red rivals go and get beat at home by their neighbours haha, you have to laugh. We may not be able to challenge anymore but atleast we can get behind city to laugh at united. Well done blues.
Things here don't seem so bad anymore

We support Liverpool and not city

Since when did our fans develop such a small time mentality.

"Things here don't seem so bad anymore"

Are you for real pal?

Utd are sitting pretty at the top of the Premiership, on the verge of a record breaking 20th league title.

We (LFC) on the other hand are battling the likes of West Brom & Swansea for 7th place.

To be honest we are the laughing stock not Man Utd.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. I wonder why you left no name.

Thank goodness your fellow fans have a bit more dignity!

It's not so bad being 7th so long as United are now ONLY 12 points clear in the league?

Go figure!

dear Eds your doing a fabulous job on here I have to appologise for my earlier I have an affinity with the rafa benitez era and I probably was frustrated because of the draw and all. Anyhow I have come terms with the fact that its a work in progress and maybe no european football might just be a blessing in disguise for us. I sincerely believe we are a couple of signings away from challenging for the league title and I hope BR can sort that this summer yes I am RAFA fan and all but BR is all we have got for now and we might as well get behind him

Rodgers is not merely "all we have" now. I am one of Rafa's biggest fans - he never should have got the sack and should have been offered the job again last summer - but Rodgers is an excellent manager. Two very different styles but it's possible to be a fan of both! A bit more support and a bit less impatience would do wonders for performances.

we only need 1 cb 1 midfielder and 1 right winger. they all need to be wordclass players we don't need anymore players coming in we need to play for the the top 4 next season. if top 4 is essential for us to compete we should forget europe for 1 season get into the the cl and starts from there, if not we will have the same problem us we are having now next year. carra retiring sell skrtl quates assaidi and carroll loan out shelvey suso. skrtl the only 1 to be replaced from the players we don't need and kelly/wisdom can cover for the new player. carroll was on loan and assaidi/quates have no future at the club. spend 50/60 mil on 3 players, trough sales bring in around 35mil. and if we are able to buy allen for 18mil euro erikson should be no problem. 1 central defender and winger that all clubs want, please no williams let's at least try and be Liverpool. last season buys allen/sahin/assaidi/borini made no impact the only reason we are 10 points behind the top 3/4. borini was injured he turn into inzaghi if we are lucky, borini is not a good controller of the ball but he makes goals like inzaghi. Malta

What worldclass players are going to come to a club that cannot offer Champions League Football? They will be snapped up by the big clubs, not us.

Have you seen how we have defended at times this year, fairly sure centre back is place that is needed.

I reckon Kelly & Wisdom will get chances at CB next year. However, we still need at least one more experienced CB.

09 Apr 2013 12:44:31
talk about all the center backs needed what about martin kelly and Andre Wisdom getting a chance there then we can spend some money in places that really need it.

We will still need another CB though when Carra, Coates and Skrtel all leave.

Dear ed (s) out of the options realistically available to us, who qould you like to see come in to replace carragher at centre back {Ed001's Note - I honestly don't know, I haven't been able to watch as much football as usual this season, due to the worldwide crackdown on streaming. It is not so easy to find full games to download and watch when I have time as it used to be. The sites I used all got shut down, so I have not seen anything like as much footie this season and not seen any outstanding defenders at all in the games I have seen.}

{Ed002's Note - Just to translate, when Ed001 says "footie" he means football.}

Frootie!

The real AG

I think Martin Kelly should be the one to partner Daniel Agger as we have Wisdom as cover for CB as well as RB if needed and also Ryan McLaughlin can cover RB, that way we would need a good back up to partner Wisdom in the cup games.

Kelly and Agger are very injury prone and if they were to get injured (which they do every season), then we are left with Wisdom (who has only been involved in 12 PL games so far) as the only CB. We definitely need another CB or 2

The real AG

Hi ed001, not sure where you are based but firstrowsports have had decent quality streams for every Liverpool game, only problem is there are considerable pop ups. FR

The eplsite is a good site to watch football on, I watch footy on there all the time, and it gives you a few streaming options aswell if the 1st or 2nd are lagging

Download and use adblock plus and that will stop most if not all ads!

Adblock changed my life!

GuvTOB {Ed001's Note - more of a problem is finding recorded games to watch. There used to be a few sites that kept links for full games, so I could take a look at players clubs were getting linked to. Those sites all got removed and so it is only live games I get to watch, which isn't ideal as you can't always be there to watch them.}

Hi Eds, hope you are well.

I'm seeing that we're linked with Alderweireld.
Can anyone tell me what kind of CB he is. don't follow the dutch league much so know little of him.

Is he pacy? Strong? Good on the ball?

Response would be appreciated, from the Eds or anyone else who has seen him play.

Thanks.

Norwegian Blob {Ed001's Note - I haven't seen him play yet myself, I have been meaning to because Spurs have been following him this season.}

He is a centre half, 5ft 4ins tall, 17 stone, can only play once every two weeks and wants £90k a week – sounds like our type of player!

He's 6ft1 and has been almost ever present this year, and is not the greatest defender in the world but is very able at his job

He's not the greatest but meh.

The guy is an international centre back.
That's where he should play, and where he would have played if he came to Liverpool.
He get's put to full back and centre midfield because they're rubbish there.
Should have come to Liverpool.

This thread = bitter

Jones will be England's no. 1 CB within a few years. He is a beast. I would think he'll be pleased with his EPL medal this summer and is delighted to work under SAF - but hey, perhaps he would have rathered finish 6th or 7th in Merseyside and learn from the ledgend that is Brendan Rodgers?

HB

Why is it bitter? He's a quality and versatile player, but I am not overly upset that we didn't get him because he has huge injury problems and personally, would rather see a slightly less good player who rarely suffers injuries to a slightly better player who spends half the season out. United can afford the cover, we can't

not saying its going to happen but would people see this as a good summer window agree if you do disagree if you don't:

weimann 6m
cissokho 6m
gameiro 8m
32m

Out
Carroll 17m
pacheco 1m
spearing 2m
wilson free
Coates 6m
assaidi 5m
Skrtel 12m
robinson loan

Your right its not going to happen!

Who in their right mind will play 17m for Carroll, 6m for Coates, 5m for Assaidi and 12m for Skrtel?

Liverpool ^

Who said we have to sell to people in their right mind? To Russia!

I am as disappointed as anyone that we (most likely) won't be playing European football next year. But I do like BR.
It's clear that many here don't though and that's fine. We haven't won a trophy or qualified for Europe so I think people are well placed to question our progress.
However, if you don't think BR is the right man, then who is?
Thanks.

09 Apr 2013 12:30:35
Puzzled Red mate the problem is we have chose a very difficult path for ourselves by appointing rodgers, I always believe top manager was the way to bring success again to a club who have been struggling for ages, Ancelloti was very interested and has a pedigree that very few manager have, if I'm honest or you can ask Liverpool fans who know footy inside and out will tell you next season will be the same, teams above us are very, very strong interms of experience or have owners who can throw silly money to get that top4 compare to us. Just imagine if fergie retires do you think united will appoint a young manager or midtable manager the answer is simply no, they will appoint top manager to continue their success, I know as supporters we need to back rodgers which I will do as his our manager but from inside I think the job is too big for him or neither our owners will give him another 60-70M to gamble on top4, now it almost 5-6 years without champions league very, very sad to see a club like Liverpool struggling like that.

Yes I agree with you in part unnamed poster but you didn't really answer my question did you? Unless the Eds think Ancelloti will manage us? Eds?

09 Apr 2013 13:08:27
Puzzled Red mate Ancelloti recently said he wants to return to england and will be very proud of managing Liverpool fc, his agent even said they had a talk with Liverpool.

09 Apr 2013 13:09:36
Most here believes. the clock will swing 180 deg and we will be challenging for the titles next year.
nothing is going to happen.
lets be realistic. and hope spurs don't get CL.
Arsenal if gets the Cl. will not spend much.
spurs on the other hand also will not spend much.
so we can have a go at the 4th spot.
city, utd and chelsea are untouchable.
we can see plenty of super stars arriving with these clubs in summer
We will have to convert our draws into wins and loss to draws. by hook or crook.
If lfc doesn't get CL by 2014. then we can see a lots of players dissapperaing and probably another transition.

09 Apr 2013 13:15:10
Puzzled Red 2-3 months back Ancelloti said he will be honoured and proud to manage a Club like Liverpool

Just because Ancellotti said he would be proud to manage 'a club like Liverpool' doesn't mean that a) We have the money to pay a manager like him, b) that he would be satisfied with the state of the club and what he has to work with once he has a more in depth view, and c) that he wasn't just being polite and didn't want to cut his options or appear like a git by saying 'nah, I think Liverpool are rubbish and would never work with them'

09 Apr 2013 16:17:51
I'm sure a lot of manager will jump to manage us after all we are always in top3 spending!

09 Apr 2013 09:14:21
Wasn't it a folly to get rid of the KING?

Rodgers has brought success in what form?

How can BR's success be measured?

Where is the Silverware from BR reign?

What have I missed something?

Is it that we are playing better? (what a joke)

All BR has done is brought BS and people are buying it by the barrow, shame really, must have big allotments!

Fieldmarshall Merkel

Move on.

To emulate our past we can't keep going back to it,

Rodgers has done a good job in his first year,

He is steadily resolving some of our issues namely the wage bill and underperforming players.

Completely agree Fieldmarshall Merkel. Rodgers is not the man to take our club forward. Bad buys, no Plan B, bad tactics, ONE UP FRONT, shows no passion.

Clearly a half wit as usual, please stop posting this sh**. BR all the way for me the mans going take us places.

Scottybhoy1888

How easily some are fooled!

Its always the path of least resistence for the populus.

Where's Brendan Rodgers trophies? Are you serious? He ain't even been in charge for a full season yet! Where would Manchester United be if they had sacked fergie because he didn't win anything for 6 years! Get a grip and stop living in the past! Be proud of our history like we all are but we need to look to the future now

Ack17
In brenden I trust
JFT96
YNWA

What evidence can you come up with to show that Brendan is going to take us forward?

Forget king Kenny, we never shudve let Benitez go, Benitez would never have wasted money like the way Kenny did and Rodgers (borini, when we could get Jackson Martinez on 3 millions cheaper than wot we paid for borini, now Martinez value its 20 millions, and borini its 4 millions, and another flop its Allen, when we never needed a player like him) {Ed023's Note - 100k a week on Jovanovich, 20 mill on Keane, 20 mill on Aquilani, loads more millions and over paid players. Give it a rest. I like Rafa but he had his chance and blew it!}

09 Apr 2013 11:11:27
Guys like you are not even worth arguing with!

Coutinho & Sturridge bad buys? WHAT? F****** behave you plank!
Bad tactics? Again no clue whatsoever! I have watched Liverpool for over 35 years and most of the football played this season have been nothing short of brilliant!
Plan b? I have seen Liverpool play 3-5-2 away at chelsea, I saw them play 4-4-2, I saw them play 4-3-3, I saw them play 4-2-4, I also saw them play 4-2-3-1. shut up about plan B when we obviously have many plans! In your, mind plan B is lump it, forward? NO THANKYOU.

We have moved on a lot of players and still are 4-5 players short of challenging! We have scored some amazing team goals this season and we will propably finsh 10 points more than last season with double the goals scored!
The team last year was in one less competition btw!
Fix the defence, add 3-4 quality players and we will continue growing next season! Btw remind
me! Did kenny win anything in his first season? NOTHING. a lot of people forget Kennys last year was his 2nd!

Stop being little whiny ******* and SUPPORT THE TEAM and manager! Good things come with patience and SUPPORT not fickle gloryhunters who can't see the big picture, I didn't have expectations this season because of the summer window! Since jan we are 3rd in the tab and if yle!

Malak {Ed023's Note - Fantastic post.}

09 Apr 2013 11:14:04
Didn't sign!

Malak {Ed023's Note - I signed it for you ;)}

I loved Kenny as a player but to keep thinking he was going to take us forward is folly look at his spending Carrol £35 mil Downing £20 Mil Henderson £ 20 mil wages losing £500k per week BR has come in and has had to steady the ship Coutinho £ 8 mil Sturridege £ 12 mil he must be given time to complete the project otherwise no club succeeds changing the manager every year

Excellent reply Malak!

The real AG

So expressing concerns about the path the club is on

IS WHINEY?

Great logic that!

Malak I couldn't have put it better my self mate, top drawer post and firmly put these daftys in there place's. It's hard work coming on here these days, far to many trolls, kids and supporters of other teams coming on here spouting the crap about FSG, BR, and player after player. I actually look forward to games now, I watch all the reserves and I can assure you we have quality players coming through and with a bit of time and Patience Liverpool are going places. BR has put right a few wrongs, we seem to have a great medical Science dept now, Stevie G has played every min and who would have thought that after last year he's been superb for us, Agger seems fit these day to. And he's sorted out the scouting system, and he seems to be putting a mesg out to every team in world football that LFC won't be taken for a ride when trying to by players in the future and were only going do it for the right deal. How many times over the years have we wasted the cash and got now where?

What we all need to do is get behind the team, club, manager, owners and really start rocking Anfield and driving the team forward. Our crowd seems to have gone, wheres the famous passion? I saw it at the Zenith game what an atomspher. let's get that going at every game for the rest of the season.

So to sum it up Malak cracking post mate you seem to get where were going and what we need to do to get there. so, so many don't on here. i'm loving it cause when we do finally get there its going be f*****g amazing mate. YNWA

Scottybhoy 1888

Repeating the same statement about the same subject topic over and over and over, offering nothing new, no realistic solutions, nothing constructive and acting like everything is as one sided as you want it to be is whiney, yes

What makes you think kenny would of taken us forward? I love the guy because he is mr. Liverpool but where did he Finnish in the league? Did we win the f. a. cup? And as for Benitez well he blew it big time and I mean big time!

09 Apr 2013 09:12:05
In the summer Liverpool are going to sign two centre backs. One a young and upcoming talent and the other a mid aged experienced defender to play along side agger. Liverpool have identified two targets for each category of centre back. The target for the young up coming talent is Carlos Zambrano of Frankfurt and Stefan De Vrij of Feyenoord. The targets for the mid aged experienced player is Toby Alderweireld of Ajax and Dede of Vasco De Gama.

I understand that Alderweireld is a likely replacement for Gallas at Spurs however Alderweireld has recently publicly spoken about how a move to Liverpool meets all of his criteria and would love to come and play infront of the kop in the colour of red.

Harry from Southport

So it is nailed on that Alderweireld is going to Spurs.

Alderweireld didn't say it harry, he said it about spurs, the press just changed the names around mate

Whats up with kelly getting the chance in the center. loads of pace just what we need.

09 Apr 2013 08:45:34
No Chance for Carol coming back - too expensive and won't except he, s on the bench

Too expensive? He already plays for you!?!?

He means in wages - £80k a week for a designated sub

BR unhappy to pay £80,000 per week for a bench warmer and AC has said he will only turn out for a side that promises him he starts every week – so its goodbye AC

09 Apr 2013 13:11:42
no club in the world can promise caroll a start. wether its madrid or wigan.
he is that crap let's be honest.
carlton cole scored more goals than him at west ham.

09 Apr 2013 08:10:30
its a bit strange how people here react after the west ham game! I haven't seen the game live but after watching the full match later I think you lot were to wrong to criticize the manager or the players.

It was a strange game as we dominated all 90 minutes and played some great stuff. West ham gives us so much space in the mid field and all of the players were sitting in their own box to defend.

the lacking was our movement in the opposition box and link up. Other wise we played great in general.

gerrard should have scored after that suarez rebona, sturridge could have scored when he shoots and that gerrard fouled in the box was clear penalty.

suarez does lots of tricks including the rebona and the side stepping but his link up was a bit poor. so his placement. off day!

but overall some how we couldn't score though we managed to shot so many times in to the target. off day!

coutinho was brilliant again. He capitalize the mid filed very well and when he cuts inside he should have scored. some how deflected!

In the summer we should bring a quality center back who can score and defend from set pieces. Needs a physical one tbh. we are great in technical aspect but lacking in physical one. But in EPL you should have the physical presence in your team to get in the top.

Bring one central defensive mid fielder to play in position of lucas/gerrard is also necessary.

at wing position I would give chances to assiadi/sterling/ibe/ngoo/downing etc rather bringing overrated tom ince etc.

we need to get rid of carroll and bring another CF. My choice would be alvaro negredo. strong player with descent technical skills, great in the air, good finisher and a phenomenon penalty taker.

You contradict yourself in the first few paragraphs

09 Apr 2013 07:19:55
william, eriksen and ince must b sign

Ince might but the other two I doubt very much

09 Apr 2013 10:59:11
Erikkson can be a decent target. if we pay upto 18 mill upfront. Spurs if fails to reach CL then it will be us and them to battle.
We already have some experienced gambles from past two seaosns.
Y not go for honda.?
8 mill is a steal he is a real quality player equal to errikson by all means.
excellent left foot. good at dead ball.
perfect ACM for me.

I think he has already said he would like to go to spurs?

09 Apr 2013 04:17:11
I see Glen Johnson latest to spout how were nearly there in today's early editions of tabloids. When will they shut it and prove it on the pitch?
Doesn't help anyone, Who's he trying to convince? Were not CONSISTANT enough, Lightweight, And need at least 3 World class players in key areas-Spine of team.
Just makes us a laughing stock. Shut it and prove it! (And Personnally you where oneve worst-Saturday Glen) Sorry all but sick of hearing it

Was just gunna write the same thing! Our lads need to shut their gobs and start proving some consistency on the pitch.

09 Apr 2013 11:11:18
Seeing Rafael last night, his pace going forward and his deffensive abilities made me realise why we are 7th and not 3rd or 4th. Johnson is so inconsistent and he needs competition. {Ed023's Note - So if we had Rafael we would be 3rd or 4th? This is hillarious..}

Hahah Rafael!

The real AG

09 Apr 2013 12:24:31
Zabaleta. the best RB for me in EPL.
he is a beast. neither rafael nor Johnoon would even come close to him.

I like rodgers but I wish he would shut up at times, players and coach need to do their talking on the pitch.

Rafael is much improved and has had a very good season. He is explosive going forwards. Already better than Johnson and the gap between them will only increase.

I'd have to agree with noname though - Zabaleta has been the best RB in the league this season and last. He is excellent going forwards and dependable at the back too.

HB

HB, yeah Rafael is literally exploding all over the place as he is going forward.

But seriously, the fact that you come to the LFC site everyday to respond and justify to anything mildly related to UTD tells me you are trying very hard to convince us, LFC supporters that almost every player in your team is better than ours. Now why do you need to do that when you know we won't agree with you. Perhaps you are unsure yourself. that's right keep telling everyone, just like Anderson, Young and Nani eh?!

Rafael is pants.

The real AG

The real AG - I am a fully grown adult and capable of being unbiased! Did you not notice that I said a Man City player is the best in his position in the league? What was your point again, lol.

Suarez is a fantastic talent and has made Rooney look average this season. Gerrard has great character and has been excellent over the years. There you go, does that make you happy?

I'd like Nani and Anderson to be sold - which kind of devalues that point of yours. Young is a decent squad player and I see him as nothing more. But he's still better than Downing who starts every game for you guys.

"Rafael is pants" - what were what were you saying about me trying to convince people? If you can't see that he is already better than Johnson then I don't really know what else to say on the matter.

p. s. I visit the Arsenal and Liverpool pages but not as much as the United page. So don't worry about that. I try to make valid points and I think mine was a lot more valid than your reply!

Damn, and I usually remember to gin my posts!

HB

HB

How does it de-value my point? I don't go to the united site and have no inclination to preach LFC's quality there. So I would not know if you wanted Anderson or Nani sold, until you just mentioned it.

Rafael is pants is an opinion of mine, its nothing to do with convincing people. They already know that he is pants.

And I can't see Rafael as a better player than Johnson, because he is not and I don't think Johnson is particularly good.

And as for you being a fully-grown adult and you making valid points, these are objective ;)

The real AG

LFC form so erratic we'll probably draw v Reading beat Chelsea lose at Newcastle beat Everton Draw at Fulham and lose to Qpr-Yo yo club of form and therefore our emotions

ITs an emotional Rollercoaster

I feel a song coming on .

Next season will be different we will sign thingamebob in the summer and things will be different

Ah yes the same oul song!

I will just take this 0-0 as part of the Carrol deal ;)
Now bring on the last 6 games and finish as good as we can.

09 Apr 2013 01:34:26
Players out
ST; Carroll £17m + additional £1m for West Ham United staying up. so £18m
CB; Skrtel £13m
WF; Assaidi £4m
CB; Coates £6.3m
ST; Borini £8.5m
DM; Spearing £3m
FW; Pacheco 500k
= £53.3m

Owners give £40m of that + transfer budget of £15m
= total spending power of £55m

Players in
Center Back/ RB; Tobias Alderweireld £8.3m
Center Back/ RB; Carlos Zambrano £5.3m
Left Back/ LW; Dennis Aogo £6m
Defensive Mid; Mohamed Sissoko £5.3m
Attacking Mid/ CM; Thiago Alcantara £17.3m
Wide Forward/ AM; Dimitri Payet £12.3m
Striker; Leandro Damiao £3.3m, on loan with option to buy

7 in
4 in as replacements (CB, CB, WF, ST)
3 in to add to positions we lack depth (LB, DM, AM)

Total Spending £52.4m

meaning we come in under the budget as well as a net figures in the + side rather than the minus.

The extra midfield players will allow Shelvey and some U21 midfielders to go out on loan.

Not a hope

Sorry did Brendan Rodgers save the entire board and manager of Internacional from a grizzly death? If not, I fail to see why they would let us have their best striker on loan when they would need to replace him if they lost him

09 Apr 2013 11:01:11
Do you honestly think we going to get the money on all above players.
Apart from Skertel I don't see anyone going to pay anything close to the amount you mentioned.

CB; Coates £6.3m
ST; Borini £8.5m

Borini 8, 5 mill?. Injured all season 1 goal in 11 appearence. only a fool will pay 8, 5 mill.

coates will go for free.

09 Apr 2013 12:52:28
Harry scousscer you are so full of it its amazing!

Why would coates go for free? He cost £7 million and is just 23! A full international with the best talent in copa america ahead of neymar in his locker! Just because he doesn't fit Liverpool doesn't mean he is a bad player and in jan. There was 6-7 teams ready to take him! Westbrom made an offer of £5.5m and it was rejected because there was no replacement at the time!
I expect he will be gone in the summer for around £4. 5-5.5m specially with over 5 teams wanting him!

Then Borini, are you that foolish or just like to sound completly wrong?
You say he is injured all the time yet he is worth nothing?
He has been INJURED which doesn't affect the value what so ever because Liverpool are not even considering letting him go!
He is 21 years old an very very highly rated in italy and if fiorentina want him they will know these 2 simple things
1. Liverpool are not intrested in selling him so any offer less than what Liverpool paid for him will not even be considered.
2. They want him to replace Jovetic, now tell me why on earth would they do that if he is a bad player? Fiorentina is a top 4 team in Serie A and that alone tells me there is something about him that makes me want to keep him even if we get £15 m for him! His potential and age alone and the fact he is an italy international tells me when he is fully fit and in top form playing as a striker not on the wings his value will tripple in 2-3 years time!

You are so clueless its sad!

Malak

09 Apr 2013 13:15:43
Mr. Malak.
Appreciate your reply. I am deeply impressed.
Lets wait till summer. and see how much we fetch for these two.
If the amount is pretty low. you can yourslef be the negotiatior and make this happen.
I would love if we get the amount which is mentioned.
there are almost 100 nationals outside. coates is just one among them.
he is bad. and that's the only reason we are selling him. or else he would have been on the pitch.

Borini I am not sure.
his actual value was and will remain only at 7-8 mill. we paid 11. none will repete that mistake.

sometimes age does not matter much. you need to a real talent to be attracted not the age.

no mood to argue.
lets wait and see

09 Apr 2013 13:17:38
did you compare borini with jovetic??
Ed. this is the joke of the year. publish this. plss

Imagine Borini taking over from Jovetic! Not sure they'd be top 4 the following season, Malak.

Signed Alderweireld, Williams, Martins-Indi, Alonso, Eriksen and Ben Arfa for LFC on FIFA 13 - it worked and I won the title :)

09 Apr 2013 00:38:33
For DM cover who thinks that Mohamed Sissoko would be a decent shout, older played for juve as well as current psg (on loan to fiorentina)

28 years old, good pedigree is terms of trophies; la liga title, europa league (champions cup), super cup, FA cup & would cost no more than £5-6m

Just saying would be a decent backup to Lucas as low cost + EPL experience.

09 Apr 2013 08:48:38
we already have ittura deal tied up.
he is a DM {Ed002's Note - There is no pre-contract agreed for Iturra.}

Cover for Lucas? Personally. I think we need a first choice DM to replace Lucas. I have watched him closely since he came back and whatever he had, he seems to have lost.

09 Apr 2013 00:29:44
Hey Eds,

More of a question than a rumour, but here's hoping you can shed some light.

With Stoke facing a bit of a relegation battle, do you know if we've looked at / had Shawcross of Huth scouted recently?

Both are solid, rugged, defenders, and with the relegation clauses in their contracts could make very affordable additions to the backline. Shawcross in particular would be a great addition with the departure of Carra (and possibly Skrtel) imminent. What do you reckon, has there been any interest or rumblings of interest from inside the club recently just in case Stoke do go down?

PS: Great work as always. {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

From the other fans I speak to, there seems to be a consensus amoung them that Stoke will survive the relegation battle and are rarely talked about in the same breath as Sunderland and Villa, which I find quite odd. Anyone else actually hearing Stoke as real relegation contenders despite them being right in it?

08 Apr 2013 23:26:50
Well only 6 more episodes of poorly received comedy show "Anfield Follies.
Rumour has it that due to declining viewership, and weak plot-line as well as poor weekly performances, that the "owners" of the franchise will be looking to replace a number of the cast members as well as the Director/Manager.
It is anticipated by the owners FSG (Folly Style Group) that the changes will take place in the next few weeks, after the completion of the current series.
A FSG spokesperson urged supporters and fans alike to "remain loyal, and that they were working very hard to improve".
A critic was quoted as saying, "there is a lot of work needed, to salvage this once glorious and internationally known and well branded show".
End of report.

08 Apr 2013 23:02:50
With Skrtel and Coates leaving for around 18-20 mill Rodgers wants Williams and Alderweild. I personally believe this would be brilliant business.

It will be a great bit of business for Spurs when Alderwereild signs for them. I think that's what you meant as he won't be signing for LFC.

08 Apr 2013 22:59:32
Summer targets LFC have enquirer about: Ince (They want 15mill) and Eriksen (Bidding will start at 18 mill). Other being scouted are Alderweild, Aubameyang and Ter Stegen

Spurs will get eriksen for half of that as well as alderweireld!

Yeah spurs will be able to attract players with champs league ftbll on offer, oops maybe not, I think we have a chance with some of our targets

08 Apr 2013 22:59:27
Players that I believe we are targeting:
Alderwield
Williams
Eriksen
Plus a RW perhaps Ben arfa if a deal for Carroll can be sorted.

We are open to offers for:
Carroll
Borini
Downing
Coates
Skrtel
Shelvey
Plus young players like ngoo spearing Morgan and Wilson.

If it were up to me I'd only buy one CB and buy a DM that could fit in like wanyama. However I would also love to see alonso back but can't see it.

Very unambitious mate!

I want Messi, Xavi, Falcao, Hulk, etc.
