Michael Owen joins old red nose and blames us for his dreadful injury problems then is nice to us and says we are his tip to finish 4th. God, he's harder to understand than Jamie Carragher lol

RedSpud

In the same story where he said we "ruined his career" he also said Liverpool was the best years of his career. The point of that article was that now-a-days youngsters play too much too soon. Not to rip on articles. It was the British sensationalistic press that twisted the quote like usual.

Haha, even when it's not Suarez and it's Jonjo getting blatantly fouled, we dont get a stone wall pen. The weird thing was, when i watched it i knew we weren't going to get it, because that's just how our seasons been. And Allen gets struck on the hand from 2 bloody yards and apparently its a pen, wow. Anyway, onwards and upwards lads, made up by the results. Aston Villa next week and Suarez is back i sense another 3 points. YNWA

AsianRed

It wasn't a pen he got abit of the ball

Hopefully, buddy. The next 4 games could easily set us up for a 4th place finish, we just need to do the business and get the points.

Chrismiz

I'm not sure Jonjo's was a pen either but Agger's should have been. Is it true we are the only team in the PL to have not been awarded a Pen this year?

RedOz

No matter how harsh it is, i think Joe Allens penalty was right.

Kaizer

How can you comment about the game ? when YOU said "if cole plays i will throw my telly out the window" also slating henderson too . you must have been really cross when they proved you wrong , like i have said before go away YOU and DRIPS like you are not proper supporters , how did your new team do over the weekend ASIANBLUE , please please please go away...............andy.

We will get a big striker on loan. one of alexis sanchez or mario balotelli.

Walcott will sign as arsenal will bring in Huntelaar which will make Walcott 100% want to leave.

and a attacking midfielder / playmaker will come in as well as douglas teixeira to replace carragher.

Who on earth would want balotelli a pathetic excuse of a footballer who lets his team down time after time.

...did you see Balotelli play today?...

Ballotelli is a no go for me wud never live up to the liverpool way
livlim

Yeah good idea, get Ballotelli on loan, 125k/week wages for someone who can't be bothered.
Fantastic.

The only club who Ballotelli could play for is City because they are the only club who can afford to write of his wages.

Hi Eds,

Where is Wisdom lately?

thanks {Ed002's Note - Liverpool.}

Enrique is in form so wisdom benched

Ill re-phrase the question for you then; Is there a reason Wisdom has not been playing as much lately? For example is he injured or has he fallen out of favour.

Thanks

He's injured I think

ChrisMiz

Just laughed when reading your comment 02. I give into you, and youre brilliant piss taking ways.

I was just wondering what the Ed's (and anyone else who cares to reply) opinions are of Ajax's current young crop, and in particular the young Danish duo of Lucas Andersen and Viktor Fischer?

Cheers

Bye people. I'm leaving this site forever. Can't be doing with the negativity. Ill just talk my team up, all the time, and know the day will come where we are back. Thanks Eds for all the info etc.

Your a nugget, how sad are you. So if some people don't agree with your opinion then your wavin the white flag and goin. See you later, you wont be missed.

See ya tomorrow!.

Won't beat about the bush but that was a funny old game. I must admit after forty minutes i never saw us winning. I worry that br still hasn't got us winning the ball back once we lose it which is something swansea had down to a t. Plus we are very soft in the tackle admit it peeps.

However we won the who gives a monkeys

randy watson

Upton park is a hard place to get a result, we were never gonna have it all our own way and neither will any team that goes there!

Could suso be off to a Spanish team, as on twitter he says he is off to Madrid for a couple days ?!

Thanks YNWA

Our next game in next weekend isn't it?

He just signed a new contract. He's probably just going with his girlfriend or something. The thing that I hate about most liverpool fans is that they look too deep into EVERYTHING.

BthekingB

He is Spanish, perhaps he is visiting family/friends?

ChrisMiz

The teams off Monday and Tuesday. He's going to Madrid for a couple of days, that's all.

Chi-Paul

Rumour has it we have a straight up swap for Ronaldo.

Just to echo what others have also said...some of the comments before the end of the game were awful. I also think we did not play great for large periods and was frustrated at times in the game but honestly some of you have no right calling yourself supporters.

No, you do not have to support by any means in a biased non truthful way by saying we are the greatest and we deserved this or that if we didnt or are not, but slagging all the players off like some of you did is disrespectful and annoying to read!

Allen-sh+t
Gerrard past and and crap
etc etc!!

Funny how rarely anyone attaches a name yet suddenly when we win there are also loads of great comments syaing how we are a great force and show grit and determination etc...I could swear a lot are by the same folk who desroyed and tore our team to shreds earlier.

Anyway, just wish fans were not so fickle. After all in many ways (and true supporters may know what i mean) we often dont pick who we support but that team attracts us and there is a connection. For anyone who can slag off one minute than love the next...you can't support and i feel sorry for you as you won't feel the true high's even though you may not suffer the lows

GARETh

How many Lfc fans watch the match and say: 'Downing's not playing particularly well for the twelfth time this season. Ah well, best of luck Stuart'?
You groan, you swear, you punch the tv, you get passionate and emotional. You write stuff on here.
As supporters we should back everyone at the club but it doesn't make them immune to criticism especially when you're losing the match and Joe Cole gives the ball away again.
Best of luck to Gerrard, greatest Liverpool player ever IMO and I hope he stays playing for us for a couple more years. But god he was crap in that first half.
Cannot complain about the result though :)

cozinoz

Maybe it's not that people are bad supporters it's that people need to learn to contain their emotions and calm down. I was pretty frustrated and was biting off heads of anyone that came near me during the game but I managed to keep my opinions about how quiet shelvey was, and how wasteful Sterling had been, to myself because as we supporters should know, it takes one moment of brilliance to change a game, something both sterling, shelvey, Gerrard, even Johnson, Skrtel etc have shown they can do

But Sterling had one moment of brilliance that helped change the game......but apart from that he played really poor.

09 Dec 2012 22:14:49
Made up with the result today, but it's an expected result. If we are who we say we are, we should be winning these games, however; win we did! Unlucky conceding 2 goals that in my opinion were very legitimate, but very lucky. Allen could do nothing about the penalty and Gerrards header was also unlucky.

As I say in all of my posts I won't ever chant against anyone wearing an LFC top, but Downing and Cole have to go. Fair play he got a vital goal today, but neither are good enough for such a big club. I'm hoping we see the last of them this month/January.

We fought well today against a very good West Ham team and away from home. Credit to the fans that travelled, I could hear them singing very loud on the tele!

Looking forward to Villa and Fulham at home, hopefully 6 points.

I'm betting we're ahead of Everton by Christmas.
If I don't post again, have a good Christmas!

Thanks, Ell.

Hi Eds i hope liverpool go for diame he was diffrent class today what do you think the chances are? {Ed002's Note - I cannot say. It'll be someone else next week, then someone else the week after.}

You can't say that, Kenny was going to sign him for free before he was sacked and apparantly Kenny doesn't know a good player when he see's one!

Waro

Diame = free
as oppose to...

Carroll = £35mill
Downing = £20mill
Henderson =£16 mill

So yes, Damien comolli and kenny daglish did not have a clue what they were doing.

On the contrary Diame would have signed for Liverpool on a free if Kenny wasn't sacked, I remember Diame saying this in an interview before he joined West Ham

Not liverpool but messi is unbelievable

Messi tidy player.

09 Dec 2012 21:41:05
John Barnes is in Norway this weekend. He was interviiewed on TV, and asked about which players he was ev. expecting to arrive in January, he said that Ronaldo and Messi def. wouldn't be coming, but he had a good feeling about Roberto Soldado.

Rob D

I wouldn't pay too much attention to John Barnes, great guy and a liverpool legend but he used to have to read his own name off cue cards for his football show.

its not sad that gerrard is past it,he is getting old and its showing its just the way it is.he gave us everything he had from day 1.
the way he played all his carrier is taking its toll.
i believe he needs a rest,he has not played well all season.

Due to him playing a more holding role to just bombing forward. I love it when he goes forward but he can break up play and spray the ball to wings or a decent ball forward like no other player.
He is getting older so instead of killing him off in 1st 30 mins let him slow his game down and simply do what hes good at. strengthening the midfield up.

Don't see y people r slagging off the team half way through the game. It's bs u all need to get a life they fought back got a win so don't be so negative all the time and have a bit of faith in the team. Plz post

It's not only faith they need, they need to get their ar..s
on seats and support the team. Just got back from the game, the travelling supporters were terrific, not like some of you armchair fans who can only moan and groan on these blogs. Great win today regardless how we played, really good team effort to come back from 2 down. escpecially after how we conceded

Bobbinred

Even on tv you could hear our support singing, at upton park! We've got the greatest home & away support.

The travelling supporters kept us going. We do definatley have the best fans in the country who support the team (not like city/arsenal fans who like to leave half way through and boo there players if they lose a couple of matches.)

Thought it was a really good game today although it think downing is sh*t and has to go. I thought Lucas had a strong game and hendo played well when he came on. I was just wondering y pachecho wasnt given a chance and if u had any news on any possible transfers t

Totaly disagree! Downing had his best game in a red shirt, and i thought we played better when lucas went off

Downing played ok today, its you who is a brainless person who can't think for him/her self and just because every other person on this side slags off Downing because he is so last year ,you decided to join in. Think for your self.
Allen and Sterling had a bad game so did Gerrard .. but all n all well done to everyone its not easy getting 3 points away to Westham.
Roy

Downing was awful and wasn't wearing red! Sorry mate but Lucas was great as well! What are you talking bout!?!
Redhead

The catalyst wasn't Lucas coming off, it was Diame coming off for west ham.

Great result after going behind, very impressed by the boys character to come back !

Downing mustev done something right to get BR giving him games. remember BR said that he needs players to fight if they want 1st team spot. if Downing wants to fight and do better, id gladly take him. he wasnt that bad today anyways, some good crosses from left back.

Kaizer

Downing was a bloody disaster.

Some people have no clue.

The most abysmal spineless inept performance I have yet seen from him.

And that really is saying something.

Gerrard out of form, Suarez suspended and Torres was sold years ago yet we still won away from home. Not bad for a 'one man' team. SJB

I think Gerrard might be on the way back. Seems to have dropped a lot of weight.

09 Dec 2012 21:13:12
Is it safe to come back on here? Have all the spoilt children gone to bed, tired from throwing their toys out the pram? I'm sure they're all disappointed at the result, and the fact that we're 4 points of 4th place, with Villa, Fulham, Stoke, QPR & Sunderland to come.

Great spirit today (from the players, not the whining brats who spent the afternoon posting on here), against a team that destroyed Chelsea in the second half last week.

Could all the haters please remember - a game lasts 90 minutes, a season lasts 38 games. Try waiting until the end before drowning us in your negativity.

A post from about 10:41 AM this morning

''I think Shelvey will play as the 'false 9'.
The biggest goal threat will be an own goal, ha ha.
I'm going for a Glen Johnson goal today.
Rigsby.''

Rigsby, that was a pretty decent prediction i think, well done and bravo.

I saw that earlier on as well, I must admit that's pretty impressive Ribsy, If I was you I'd be bragging about that! were are you haha, fairplay

The question is, did you place a bet on it? ;)

Jolly Red

Aye I forgot about that post, great call Rigsby mate!

Cuchulainn's Hounds

Oh Miss Jones!

Len

Cheers, folks.
No, I didn't back him because I was running late and even missed the goal as I watched it in the pub and had to wait for the missus to finish work. It would have nice, too, just before Christmas. Sod's Law!
But the main thing was three points and away from home and after we'd gone behind. I'm never confident when we go behind but that was a cracking result.
Let's kick on and hopefully strengthen again in January.
All the best,
Rigsby.

09 Dec 2012 20:57:55
It a bit of a cliche' but I truly believe that there are NO easy games in the premier league. No matter what team you are if you don't give 100% for 90mins you can, and probably will get turned over. You don't have to be on top of your game but the effort has to be there. Today we didn't play at our best, but we kept going for the duration (got a bit lucky) and got the result.
I have just read through todays posts and am a little dumbfounded by some of the ridiculous posts on here. By the sounds of it the majority of posters on here thought that we only had to show up today to collect 3 points. West Ham were always going to make it hard for us, and it was always going to be a tough game, Especially without a recognised striker in our squad. Most of the personic posts calling for Brendans head were being posted throughout the game with some coming as early as midway through the 1st half! Why aren't these fans watching the game instead of giving their keyboards a hammering, and slagging off the team. How do they expect their opinion on our team to be taken seriously if they'd rather be on the internet slagging of LFC rather than paying attention to the game and just supporting them for 90mins.
I realise no one persons opinion is more valid than the other, and if people really feel the need to call for our manager to be sacked I suppose thats their right to do so. But I have a self imposed rule that I don't post on here for at least a few hours after a defeat because the emotions run high, and things always seem worse than actually are. Maybe a few more people should try and impose this rule also.

Important 3 points today, keep it going LFC

Today BR gambled big time and showed he had balls- when Luis got injured he put on a forward player instead of replacing him with a defender. Like the departure of Enrique, the injury to Diame was a game changer and the bit of luck we needed to impose ourselves on the game again.
Well done Brendon - I was one of those questioning your decision to put Cole on for Luis but your gamble payed off and you deserve credit for it

09 Dec 2012 21:05:32
Luis? You mean Jose?

Everyone keeps talking about we need to be more physical but I have just seen someone the size of sterling score there 86th goal in a calendar year. So my suggestion is maybe we should look to be better technically!

Perhaps Messi is a little bit of an exception. Also, he plays in La Liga where Ronaldo is one of the toughest players.....

And i saw falcao put 5 in one game and he is physical and technical

But messi is a tank

Messi may be small, but he really has some muscles in him.

Kaizer

Be fair, Messi never has to play physical opposition. He wouldn't be scoring 80 goals in a year in prem league. He'd still be outstanding but you have to remember spain is not renowned for its physical teams.

Taken from the LFC website.

BR: "The first 25 minutes, we were outstanding...And then all of a sudden, for the last 30 minutes of the first half, we stopped playing."

I really like BR but not sure about his maths!!??

On a serious note...great result today. Imagine if we get 6 points from the next 2 home games!

IncaMan

You might wonna chec how many minutes there are in a half of football ;)

He thought that he was the boss of man u!
AK04

There was quite a bit of stoppage time at the end of the first half -did you not see the game??

That's dangerous. Dalglish wasn't good at maths and end up paying 35m for Carroll

09 Dec 2012 20:37:24
Today's game was a great result with some excellent performances. I do however feel concerned about Gerrard and Sterling. Stevie has once again proved he is past his best which is sad to see - luckily Shelvey is looking like a ready made replacement. Sterling was awful today. His passing was poor, shots worse and he is starting to irritate me. I hope he returns to form soon because the past 3 games he has played in he has been a shadow of his reputation.

Overall, well done reds. Lucas, you're ace!

U clearly didn't see sterlings amazing through ball to joe cole for the second goal did u? Also just because sterling hasn't been firing off 30 shots a games doesn't mean his form has dropped. He works his socks off defensively and his stats are on the lfc website he has won 90% of his tackles. U are just a narrow minded fool and it's people like u that put too much pressure on these kids shoulders, BR has did his time and knows what he's doin and maybe it's just me but I believe he probably knows a hell of a lot more about talent and nurturing that talent and I believe sterling will b a very big part of our rise back up the table in the next few years.

Gazman10

To be fair, Sterling had a bad game. Great ball through to Cole but I lost count of the number of times he lost the ball. Doesn't mean he won't be our future star though

cozinoz

I think people should take into consideration that sterling played his part in the europa league, and he's played nearly every game. I think they're going to keep playing him until he signs a new contract just so he see's a place for himself here, and then hopefully he'll starting getting some rests. Honestly, i don't know why Rodgers hasn't used Assaidi to ease the pressure on Sterling...

09 Dec 2012 20:33:46
Football should be about technical ability. You muppets who keep saying "you need to be a physically tough player to play in the Prem" are absolute persons! You are the reason that England national team are so bad. Almost all scouts in England look for players with physical presence and those that are "too small" have to settle for local clubs even though they can be world class one day.

I reckon Allen could do with a rest. He was brought in, immediately had to cover in a position not natural to him whilst also settling into a new city and team. The defensive position, I have noticed, has also meant he has had to mark and tackle players much taller and stronger (think about Fellaini in the Everton match).

He is 22, so still young and is good/will be a terrific player. He has played a lot of consecutive matches and consistently for 90 minutes. No Europa League for a while will do him good, because honestly he needs a break.

Jolly Red

Sterling could do with the same tbh. it's never good to play you players so much. Unfortunately we dont really have a deep squad

Hi eds whats the story with assadi when i saw him he seemed goo why is he not getting any game time the few times i saw him he was good why not play him we payed 3 mil for him {Ed002's Note - That is a question for Brendan not me. I am letting him pick the team at the moment.}

09 Dec 2012 20:22:02
Evening Reds and Eds,

I have just been reading the posts on here when we were 2-1 down and also the posts after we won 3-2. Both are at complete extremes. I was very disappointed and depressed when we were 2-1 down so I can sympathise with lots of posters. However i also think it is important to not get carried away with the win. Dont get me wrong, I am ecstatic with the three points, I think that is a very important win for us. But we were poor today, very poor. Thought Henderson played well when he came on and the game changed with Diame off injured. Skrltel and Agger were awesome today as was Glen Johnson.

Honestly, what has to happen for us to get a penalty this season! Shelveys was so blatant is was ridiculous.

9 teams between 4th - 12th only separated by 4 points which is amazingly tight. With a bit of good fortune, good form and a few good signings in January and we should hopefully be in better shape come the end of the season.

Hi Eds, any truth in the rumour that Nuri Sahin's loan deal could be cut short because of him being played out of position and madrid and himself being unhappy about this? i know there was financial implements involved but madrid are apparently willing to offer compensation fee to have him return? {Ed002's Note - I don't know the provisions of the loan agreement but I am aware that he has told Morais that he is not happy being played where he is.}

Does he want to be the holder. If I'm honest I think he'd be brilliant in a midfield three of: lucus sahin
Allen

Any idea why he isn't playing?

I'd have thought a 3 midfield of Sahin and Lucas holding with Gerrard in front would be a match for anyone.

ChrisMiz

I'll give him a lift to the airport, just need petrol money

Wow, poster above me. Great minds!

ChrisMiz

He aint playing cos hes been awfull simple

09 Dec 2012 19:34:40
At 2-1 down and approaching the hour mark, I really couldn't see where the goals were coming from.

Nonetheless, superb resilience from the boys to come back and win in the manner they did.

Looking forward to Villa at home now (3pm). One game at a time, we should not be looking at this month and saying "oh we should beat so and so" - win one game at a time and watch us gradually climb up the league table.

09 Dec 2012 19:30:42
Thought we played reasonably well today although our midfield definitely seemed to lack a physical presence. Lucas is finding his way back but is so calm in possession, dictates the play and never gives the ball away - a master at what he does. Allen was poor today (outmuscled) and sterling struggled but stuck at it and played a wonderful through ball to Cole. Skertel and Agger coped incredibly well with wave after wave of high balls into the box and Johnson looked good down the right. You have to give BR huge credit for getting us to were we are with a small squad, young players, under achievers and one experienced forward. I'm confident we can push on with further additions and break into the top four..YNWA

09 Dec 2012 19:30:35
I gave us a bashing but Sterling got better later on.Stevie also-though that cant have been hard! But have to say (and ive given lad loads) Hendo changed it- being a presence, tall and energetic.Because were getting outmuscled at times in the middle.Stevie aint what he was.Lucas just back but aint that sortve player-breaks it up.And Allen more a guy who keeps pocession-small.and imo needs to do more!
Let Hendo bomb on in future.Allen,Shelvey and Lucas are the future in whatever formation. But i feel Brendan makes correct changes,BUT doesnt start with correct team! BTW shocking decision against Shelvey for pen-this is happening TOO often now! Even Aldo said LFC got to speak out-now.And theirs wasnt a pen either! Still we at last showed the fight to overcome decisions.Got to add aint happy again with couple of Reinas punches, luckily got away with it.Do feel opposite to a lot on here, that Sterlings gona be cracking player, can we not come to a comprimise-say 30k a week, more put in trust for when hes 21 perhaps? He didnt have great game, but got real pace that does make a difference. After all some others on daft money given their input. We need to keep our young talent, not make rivals stronger

09 Dec 2012 20:11:38
In order for any team to progress, they need to win tough matches in difficult circumstances. This win will not only boost confidence, but it may have grown some of the younger players. To be a top player and top team, not only do you need talent, but you also need mental toughness (see Manchester United). This win will have done wonders for the team's experience and self belief.

Sunderland fan here, was just wondering what you think of henderson lately? I've seen him a couple of times this season and he seems to have really stepped up in recent weeks. Safc93

Glad to see you are still interested in your former
player and you are right there is improvement in
his all round game which everyone can see. There is
still a lot of room for more improvement fom the lad but
if he plays more and performs to a high standard this lad will win over all the gloom and doom merchants waiting to see him fail then they can say what did I tell you.
Marco
PS -- good luck for the rest of the season I am sure
M.O.N. will guide you to saftey.

Yeah for me Hendo is improving all the time. His substitution against Wigan and today really as made a massive impact. I really love his energy. His final product sometimes let's him down but he is definitely getting better.

Mighty reds

Been shocking clueless donkey, but! just of late a few signs he MAY come good after all, depending what role he has really.Should be given licence to bomb forward

09 Dec 2012 20:07:03
Hat off to Rodgers. He got it right again with his tactical changes although i'm not going to get carried away as i believe that if Diame had stayed on the pitch we would have struggled to get a draw. That said, with kelly and Borini out injured, Suarez suspended on top of what is already a thin squad as well as Enrique injured, a debatable penalty against, a Stevie G OG and being denied a penalty i will take what little good fortune comes our way. This result should give us a massive confidence boost and i was delighted to see an appetite for for the fight especially after seeing what The Hammers did to Chelsea last week. Villa next week has the potential to yield more points so as i sit here with a glass of red i can say that i am quite content.

I'll be honest..

I love this club which I have supported since I was a kid and I used to dream of being the next Barnes or Beardsley. The football at that time was fantastic and admired. Aldridge himself says Liverpool of this late 80s would easily have won another European cup if we were playing in it.Dalglish was and still is a fantastic manager. His Blackburn time proves this.

The 90s came and although no league trophy we still have tremendous memories of Fowler, mcmanaman, r Jones etc the list can go on. With the souness attempt to succeed then the Evans attacking football, houlier technical game but still all memories.

The benitez timel appears and to be fair he chopped and changed but kept this European system going throughout our great club. He is tactically astute and would always defend his players, his fans and his club against the critics and the plain rude. In my opinion he was departed a season or two to soon.
Hodgson was the replacement and to be fair he wasn't given the time but then managers who follow successful managers normally don't get time and his early stint he had a stinker.
Dalglish came back and again we saw this attacking football which we hadn't seen since Evans era but he wasn't PC enough and then wasn't wanted.

Rodgers is a decent manager who does lack experience and my judgement on him will only happen after the season. I cannot however remember a time were we was mid table around halfway through the season but I'm hoping he pulls us through and we can challenge the leaders as this club is built on the basis of winning the league so that should be our ambition and our target season in season out because a ' top four finish' is what average sides say.. Liverpool say ' we play it to win it'.

A couple of seasons back we were 12th going in to the second of of the season, that is when Kenny took over

Two years ago we were mid table at the halfway stage remember Roy

Ed do you think we should go for falcao in January.I think he'll do alrite once he finds his feet.MATTYLFC {Ed002's Note - With Cavani coming as well perhaps that'll help him get settled.}

Ed I'd be worried goal return myself.MATTYLFC {Ed002's Note - Not with Drogba coming on loan as well Matty?}

Ed, will falcoa move in January? Who is interested?

Thanks. {Ed002's Note - There are a number of clubs who are interested but I suspect Atletico Madrid will try very hard to hang on to him for the season.}

Ed I would settle for Walcott and llorente for now.MATTYLFC {Ed002's Note - Don't hold your breath Matty.}

No chance of Walcott ed I think it was you said ages ago.that Walcott was looking big wages and Not so much where he plays.mattylfc {Ed002's Note - I would not say no chance Matty, but certainly not probable.}

Genuinely can't understand some of the negativity. We won a game away from home against a side in decide form without playing great for 90 mins. In seasons gone we would all have moaned that the difference between us and the title chasers was that we don't win when we play poorly. There really is no pleasing some people. We have played some very good football this season and got naff all, that's unfortunately just how it goes. Also some of the negative comments about players at half time was ridiculous. I am not joe Coles biggest fan, nor downings but when they pull on a Liverpool shirt I will support them as much as any other. I'm sure all those slaters stopped themselves cheering when cole scored or appeased themselves with slagging off the rest of his performance! We are 4 points off fourth going into a pivotal point of season. Lets get behind the team and you never know we may get more than we all expected this season.

Cheers
Greggers

Nice one Greggers. Some of your points are way over the head of the serial moaners on here. Ok performance, good result, shut up and enjoy!

Not to forget we played away in eurpoe on Thursday followed by a 15 hour flight delay which meant a missed training session in preparation for this game.

Support the team and the manager.

What!!who said stoke is a physical team, west ham are worse.skrtel and agger were on their toes the whole game..my word the way diame dominated the middle, that guy is a beast..I have never seen our defense so vulnerable..please stop supporting allen,he has nothing to offer in attack..how crazy is football we play well most games and draw, then we were terrible for most of the match..and we get 3points...haha rodgers was looking lost when we were down..to be fair I was already ranting about rodgers, and why he brought cole in ahead of suso..nobody should come here lying like you had rodgers back at halftime..

Don't lump the real supporters in with your own shallow fairweather views - you might be the majority on here, but not in reality pal.

LIVERPRES

'stop supporting Allen'? Or 'lying like you had Rogers back'?
You don't speak for any LFC fan I've ever come across. I hope your just a jealous troll, but if not, it's time you found a new team, because I for one don't want you. I'm sure others will have a different opinion to which they're entitled, but 'fans' like you don't belong to our family. Do one, for my sake and yours.

was terrified when enrique went off and cole came on cause it meant that dowing was going to fullback, but what a permanences from the man. maybe we have finally seen what rodgers see's in him in training. lets hope he is another lucas only he settles in less time. thought gerrard was brillent in midfield as was johnson, skertle, agger and shelvey up top by himself but my man of the match was pepe, commanded his area very well and almost got to the pen.

Hi Ed

Sorry to say I haven't been on here in some time due to the amount of pathetic, moaning, clueless so called Liverpool fans. To say they are deluded would be a complement.
As all true Liverpool fans can see we are in an important transitional period where we are trying to stabilize the books, return to the old philosophies that Liverpool were so successful with, and are introducing a youth setup that rivals that of Barcelona and Ajax.
As I say we would be deluded to expect us to challenge for the top three at this present time, however we are 4 points off the top 4 spot and are embarking on a run of what you may call as winnable games. January is around the corner and hopefully a striker will be lined up, all is good.

Therefore loyal long lived Liverpool supporters who have seen probably the darkest days of the club will be able to see through the "now" and look into the future with a more positive outlook than many a long year. Owners who are prudent, a young manager with a similar philosophy of playing the game as to some of the past Liverpool greats and a wealth of real promising young talent coming through. If we can add to what we have without spending obscene money on journey men and spend wisely on players that suite the system, and also want to play for the club then hopefully we will see us start challenging.

The start of this journey is to grind out results like beating West Ham away, playing a Liverpool style of football and sticking together.
Fans on here are shaming the good name of the club, we have always been the envy of supporters around the world for our undying support, however reading many posts on here really disappoint and disgust me. We will only move forward with the total support of all, we are Liverpool with the mantra of "YOU WILL NEVER WALK ALONE" some fans should remember that and stand proud always, and respect the fans who in the past supported this club with respect and total loyalty that helped made us great, I am glad to include myself in this group and will always support the club whatever.

Well done Liverpool and well done Brendan.

I am a season-ticket holder. I have a brilliant broadband connection and subscribe to Virgin TV.
I have an internet-enabled phone and a top-of-the-range digital radio. I was offered a ticket for today's game at West Ham but was working last night so declined.
I cancelled my a website subscription a while ago 'cos I wasn't bothered about women's sport,golf,tennis,American stuff,etc.
My plan today...with all of the technology at my fingertips, was to grab an hour or two's kip before settling down to a decent afternoon of footie.
I won't elaborate but a combination of player-error (left my radio at work and my phone un-charged!) and acts of God...Virgin lost all services in my area (broadband,TV etc.) and,get this, my car (including radio) was "stolen" by (as it turns out) an expectant couple rushing to the hospital (all sorted now).....led to my afternoon of woe!
Chronologically, things transpired to leave me depressed.....United had won, Everton had won (both in the 95th minute) and Liverpool...my Liverpool were 2-1 down after throwing away a lead they just about deserved.
It was a bizzarre afternoon and I'd lost all contact with it!
No reception...no football...no car...no phone !!
I write this a couple of hours later....we won 3-2, the expectant couple are still expectant and apologetic (so they should be!).
3,My Virgin services have been resumed

What did I miss?
Did Shelvey look as good as he thinks he does?
Is Raheem Sterling in a position to demand that a top Club caves in to his wage demands?
Is Joe Allen the real deal?

I know we won....I have rarely appreciated an away win as much, But,as I say, I didn't get the whole picture.

Villa at home next ...so,on form, a home draw!

ANFIELDPETE

Shelves played very well considering he was out of position - could've got a couple of goals and even had a Messi-type run through the penalty area before being denied a penalty. Sterling was like a lost little boy at times - the game seemed a bit physical for him and despite working hard all game, he lost the ball continuously. Put a sensational through ball in for Coles goal however. Allen did what Allen does. Passed it around a lot, supported his teammates all game but blew hot and cold for me.

Silva and Mata are top players. Allen, Assaidi and Borini are not.

4 points off 4th place, and we have no strikers?... yep I'll take that. Without Suarez, if we'd have drawn the game today I'd have been delighted, the win just makes it even sweeter. Good persistence from the lads, if they believe you can win these types of games more often, then the future is looking brighter than Shelvey's genius head. Great result. RC

"4 points off 4th place, and we have no strikers?... yep I'll take that. Without Suarez, if we'd have drawn the game today I'd have been delighted, the win just makes it even sweeter..............."
Just dont get this comment,sorry.
Iam far from being deluded but c'mon......a draw against west ham???
There are plenty of teams who struggle without full squads but our lack of players is by enlarge our own fault. Bad shout in my book

I love Shelvey's goal celebration class player

Delighted to draw against west ham!. Really? Remind me again what club are we?

C'mon the draw was okay in the current situation, but I'm no Roy Hodgson who thinks its a utopia to get a point! My point was, with West Ham just off the back of beating Chelsea, on a good run and were above us in the table. With just the 1 away win this season from us, and at being 2-1 down I would have taken a draw. Also without Suarez, playing no strikers, and a good run of fixtures coming up, sometimes you just look at the situation and say at the time, the draw would have been fine for me. But we won, so really who cares?! RC

09 Dec 2012 19:01:34
Good win all around, West Ham are not easy opposition by any stretch of the imagination and plenty of sides will drop points at Upton Park this season. Maybe we got a rub of the green with the winner, but it's a little way towards making up the games we 'should have' won, but didn't. Jonno was hugely impressive, Hendo was good when he came on (I was terrified that we'd lose our rag completely without Lucas), Downing was actually good at left back this time, and Skrtel and Agger have to be among the best centre-halves in the league. We have good players, always remember that. They just need to perform.

Two things though:

1) Lookin' at the challenge on Shelvey late in the game again, and I'm really starting to wonder what has to happen for us to get a pen.

Maybe if an opposition defender pulls a gun and shoots one of our players? The ref might at least consider it then, yeah?

2) This might seem harsh, because Joe Cole took his goal well, but he was shocking from when he came on to half time and wasn't really all that involved in the second half either. The difference in our ability to keep the ball in the opposition half once he came on was really marked. I would really prefer not to see him play again for us. Not a nice thing to say about any of our players, but he just doesn't look like a Premier League footballer anymore.

Still, we're on the up and only 4 points from the top 4. It's probably a bit beyond us, but at least we can have a good go.

- Something Red -

Initially he was wrestling Shelvey on the edge of the area (I think he was booked for this after the break of play).

However the tackle inside the box was a fair one in my eyes. Saying that, we really don't get much go our way from the officials.

09 Dec 2012 18:55:43
You anti-Allen moaners are unbelievable! He played a full 90mins against Udinese on Thursday, and almost the entire game today - and even stepped up in the second half. What more do you expect of him? bunch of nimrods!

Singred

I thought he was fantastic today.

Allens brother here???
can u just go and sleep...
he is the worst buy of this millenium..after downing...

You have to admit he has been quite poor defensively recently. He has made a few stupid challenges just outside the box and then it becomes dangerous for us. This is where B.R will want to play him at LFC, i would want to see him strengthen up and improve his defensive abilities a bit. He will come good for us. I am a fan of his, i think he's a decent player and i see a good future for him with us. Just some areas of improvements needed.

Right we got the 3 points so well done to the players for not giving up.. But we need to face facts, we're simply not playing good enough football, we definitely can't compete for top 4, so lets hope for a very good window in jan.

Woooow 4 points off 4th place mate ! Idiot

Defo cant compete for top 4 your joking right were only 4 points off 4th place with more than half a season left .
We've improved a hell of alot and i would say we'll be only 1 point off 4th place by end december at the most.

How many times this season has BR made a substitution and it's had a positive effect?

For all his knockers on this site, he has lost 1 game in the EPL since playing slur Alex lot. Yes we had a bit of luck today, but that luck has been in short supply this season, so we deserved it. How many times have we dominated teams n drawn or even lost.

U21s unbeaten this year & have been playing this brand of football for a couple of seasons now, so patience with BR is needed.

Four points off 4th, with 2 home games to come against villa and fulham, we have an opportunity to get right in the mix. So think about it before you post negative stuff.

Jimbob

I agree but we didn't have luck? Did you not see how they got that penalty?!

Sup eds just wondering after watching gerrard this season i think it could be his last.Hes alot slower now and is less accurate with his passing maybe it would be for the best if he takes over a coaching role at the club but aside from that who so you think could take over as captain.I think daniel agger has a good shout but with being injury prone it may be a bad idea,any suggestions? .. cheers eds {Ed019's Note - Remember he's just come back from Illness, got a few years left yet}

09 Dec 2012 18:35:30
my thoughts on the game today
reina: pretty much getting back to his old self great to see him come and punch the ball thru players. enrique: did very well till he had to come off thru injury. skyrtel played well enough against probably the best performance ive seen this season by a target man. agger: had a few wild shots but rodger deff told him he had to join up with the play more in 2nd half and it maid WH drop deeper to try stop him.
johnson: super goal but played deeper for the rest of the second half allowed jarvis too much room to cross at times.downing: man of the match performance at left back put in a few good crosses too. allen: again showed for the ball all the time but did make some bad decisions today in possession. gerrard some great passes a bit unlucky with his og but played well enough generally. lucas: good to see him get more mins under his belt did well today. shelvey: allways a trier shud have ha a pen but stuck to his task well. sterling: for the first hour today was his worst in a liverpool shirt great pass for the cole goal and effected the game more in the last 30mins. cole: in and out sort of a game but great finish for the equaliser and to be fair to him i think he has a great attitude. henderson: affected the game really well good pressing and great delivery for the winner. coates had little to do in a short time and didnt do much for the free on cole very soft imo.
overall not the best weve played this season but how many times have we played well and not get the points. roll on next game and hopefull 3 more points at home to villa.

Great result today, didn't play well but still bossed the position, FOURTH spot does not look too far as it did few weeks back, we are getting close to it sooner than I expected so we can't be doing that bad, get behind the team second half of the season will be very interesting.

Ps: all the negativity coming from fans of other clubs, don't fall for it.

09 Dec 2012 18:40:09
Don't underestimate this result today. It was a GREAT WIN! In this league teams have to be able to dig out dirty wins and today we proved we can win against the tough, physical teams, while playing our own game plan.

Got a few bogies off our backs too; three wins in a row, first time we've won back2back league games in over 9 months, scored in the last 15 mins of a match (twice!), won without Suarez, had two goal scorers, and came from behind at half time to win a game.

And no way was Allen's handball a penalty! His arm was up but it was in a natural position as he pivoted. And he was less than 2 yards away from where it was hit. Shelvey was denied a clear penalty near the end of the game and was fouled outside the box a few seconds earlier.

good win for us today even though it was a struggle just a few points for me i still feel its to early for sterling beleive he would be better for now for an impact player say last 30 mins, also for me hendo looking realy well in last few games and for me would be alot better in first team then allen who may still need time to settle but i fail to see wat he brings to the table at the moment to early to judge but hendo seems to be getting better and looking like the player we spent alot of money on. couple of key signings and rest of season toget gelled think next season will be alot better love everyones thoughts cheers

Let's not get carried away, between 20 mins and 75mins we were dreadful. Thank god diame got injured, he was bossing the midfield. We definitely need a big player, like fellaini, toure, song, diame, carrick, mikel.
Joe allen is far to small and lightweight.
Benny baller

Your post started negative and then got ridiculous when you mentioned Carrick and Mikel as big players, still laughing now.

John B

According to reports Diame has a got a buy out clause of £3.5 million and west ham would be powerless to stop him leaving.....if thats true i would knock the agreed selling price for Carroll down if they will sell him to us.....shame we didn't sign him for free in Summer.....would add some steel to the middle of the park but i am sure some people on here would be saying 'not good enough cos he plays for Wigan'

Carrick & especially mikel. Wot has Y Toure done this season?

Lucas!!!??? He has the biggest heart of lot.

Jimbob

I slightly agree with we wasn't playing our best during the 20-70 min mark, we wasn't able to press high enough and create anything purposeful but they had 2 lucky goals from an accidental hand ball and a unfortunate o.g. but LFC stuck at it and that's what i liked, we didn't give up and that's what gives us the chance to get results like we got today.
Keep the faith.

FowlerGod.

We probably wont be seeing Diame for a while, that looked like a blown hammy.

I think the original poster meant in size as to referring to big player's!

I agree... not that I disagree - but how would Xavia and Iniesta cope in the Premiership?

Good post FowlerGod as mostve yours are

Boys, maybe it was a bit negative, remember we had to take enrique of, when he was on we was cruising. the game was decided by injuries to be honest. and by big i mean, big physically.
Allens tackle are like "almost tackle" he pokes and pokes away, but rarely gets the ball, compared to a yaya or fellaini leg wrapping around ya :P

Yes, thats more like it. we cut them to shreds in the first 20 minutes but then we were bullied of the park by by them. I thought carlton cole and diame were excellent for them. Sterling was out muscled today, he's a young lad who's playing week in and week out so stop abusing him. Cole didn't have an excellent game but not a bad one either. The finish for that second goal has been lacking since torres left.
We are far from the finished product but rodgers is the way forward. with some strikers in january you just never know where we may end up. Support the bloody team you all.

Feels so much better saying we didn't deserve to to win rather than we deserved to win

Why didn't we deserve to win? I know you can't just go on stats - but take a look at them, and also look at the ridiculous penalty decision.

John B

? Or we deserved to win and did win!

JOZLFC

? Or we deserved to win and did win!

JOZLFC

I know I am biased, but I think that we more than deserve the win. We scored 3 good goals, a 100% penalty denied us (again!), had a vey dodgy penalty decision against us, we had twic the number of attempts, and bossed possession as usual. No doubt that they caused us some problems, but we were playing at their gaf, so you would spect to have some defending to do.

As I said, well worth the 3 points.

Nick

And West Ham sat on their lead and did nothing 2nd Half so deserved to lose!

I think we deserved to win on possession stats and considering we have no centre forward!

09 Dec 2012 18:30:49
Now, does anyone else see the difference under Rodgers, comparing to Kenny and Roy? We would never had won that game if it wasn't for Rodgers. In recent games, even though we have been behind, we have not given up. Rodgers has instilled some fight into us, which is what we lacked before. It is obvious we have a lack of quality up front, but we have to make up for that with courage!

I understand that we do not have as many points at this stage under Kenny or Roy, but we are much harder to beat than we were under Rodgers. Come Christmas time, we will be knocking on the door of the top 4. Come the end of the season, we will finish with many more points than last season.

Thanks for reading.

What a brilliant three points. I am buzzing after that. What a ball by Hendo for the winner. But the whole team deserve a lot of praise. I never thought he was going to blow the final whistle though. Fairplay to Jonjo he gave 100 percent.

What I like about Rodgers is that when things are going wrong he can turn things around.

So happy that we went for the win after drawing level. Would have been easy to have knocked the ball about and retain possession. Don't care if it was an own goal, Henderson knocked a decent ball into the box and we finally had our share of luck. Should have had a pen too.

Now to all the moaning 'fans', we are 4 points from 4th position, played half a season with one striker and we have a transfer window around the corner. Put everything into context, it hasn't been all that bad. We are a long way from winning the title, just get behind the current squad, albeit a thin squad, and the manager.

FSG and the board, we have coped okay since you screwed us over in the summer. Make sure you back us in January, give Rodgers what he wants or you'll have a backlash like no other. You helped us get away from those Yank cowboys, but don't follow suit and take us to the dark places they took us.

Massive win - well done lads
Special mention to sterling and Shelvey

Hopefully this will now change our season and give us the belief

Long time since we have come from behind to win

Villa, Fulham, stoke, qpr & Sunderland next 5 games. After this we will be right in the mix for 4th. Suarez back, Lucas back and players like Henderson finally stepping up to the mark. Transfer window open and still in Europe, this season is alive and kicking. Oh and for all the fake fans get of sterlings back he's young, learning his trade but got another valuable assist again today.

09 Dec 2012 18:22:05
Well done guys 3 points in the bag, but the best team lost today. Westham was way better than us today and the turning point was the injury to their best player Diame. I think Rogers need to make a bid on him, what a player. My MOTM was Downing. He had one of his best game for us today.

09 Dec 2012 18:20:36
Blah blah all the told you so's are out in full force...why are people not allowed an opinion? We were great for 15 mins, shocking for an hour, great for a few mins and then spent the last ten mins defending! It's great to see us win ugly, and extremely pleased with 3 points, but we didn't deserve it! That was hardly a top class performance! People are allowed to speak as we find, we were shocking for the most part of the game, giving the ball away, misplaced passes, shooting wide, over etc. The three points is fantastic, but let's at least be honest, that was horrible to watch!

Do you ever see Fergie complaining when they win ugly? You must be a bitter manc! Singred

I agree, but a win is a win even if we won cheaply. With the amount of games we have hammered for 80 mins and drawn/lost its about time we got a sweaty win.

UTD manage it every week and look where they are. Still a great effort from johnson, back 4 looked solid and shelvy gave 100%.

Still not sure bout allen, im not bashing him but somebody needs to address his position within the starting 11 because for a holding mid he gives alot of posession away.

Anyway, happy with the points keep em coming!

Noshbag

09 Dec 2012 19:07:30
I wasn't complaining at all at winning ugly, read the post properly...Mancs who are happy with winning ugly are biased fools...I want to win well, winning ugly is better than losing, but on another day against another team that dire performance would not have been enough! Get into the real world! Oh and people who use that default insult "must be a Manc" - pathetic!

Blah blah same old. nameless posters. 'we have Played tiki taki or whatever but we didn't win' changes to 'we may have won but we were sh**e'. which way do you want it? Sign a name, grow a pair, and support whats happening at our club under BR.

BigBadBen

You shouldn't post that rubbish mate. We had more possession fact. More shots fact and we scored three they scored two. We won and picked up three points in a very difficult match. Why talk the team down?

10 Dec 2012 17:36:22
Wow BigBadBen you sure do love to jump to conclusions! I love how you are inside my head and can read my thoughts, and also that you know everything I have written in the past! I'm just being honest about the match, I love BR, am in full support of what he is doing, but why pretend that because we won we were amazing? We absolutely hammer other teams supporters, Everton for example, when they were saying that they deserved to beat us in the derby, because their blue tinted glasses wouldn't let them for a minute see that Luis goal should have stood and we should have had all the points! Everyone on here was slating the hell out of our terrible performance and then suddenly when we have a bit of luck (which is like hen's teeth for us, so most welcome!) suddenly we were amazing and deserved to win! We all love LFC on here, which means we should all be allowed an opinion, when they don't play well we should be able to say, and discuss with one another. Anyone who is happy with not winning because they just love the team is kidding themselves! It's concerning how we played, but a kick up the ass should get the team back on track, bring on the January window!

09 Dec 2012 18:20:21
Well done Rodgers, great away win, especially considering we were missing Suarez.
Happy Reds fan here who waited until the end of the game to leave a comment (a lot of you so called fans should of done the same)

Just wondering fellow supporters, have we actually been awarded even 1 penalty this season? can't remember the last time we got one,

I reckon the refs are actually trying to do us a favour, how many did we miss last season!

davethebutcher

We are the only prem team not to be awarded this season.

Realistic red

The last team to complete a prem season without a single penalty in their favour was Charlton Athletic in 2004/05.

09 Dec 2012 18:20:07
The good news : we've moved up to 10th place and only 4 points away from 4th place. The bad news : the Mancs are 6 points ahead of second and now have a strangle hold on winning the PL. ra1969

Who cares what Utd. are doing... I'm past it!

09 Dec 2012 18:19:03
what the hell have refs got against lfc.to give a penalty against joe allen when he was turning his back to the ball was very harsh,i cant see him giving it against man u. and that tackle on shelvey at the end was a definite penalty again i can see him giving that one to man u. biased or what?

09 Dec 2012 18:18:44
Playing badly and winning is a good habit to get into, we've played much better than that this season and lost. A lot of worrying signs from certain personnel at the club though: Allen continues to flounder, Gerrard continues his bad run of form, Downing's indifference to the game in general is a disgrace, and a good number of other players were largely peripheral for the majority of the game. Big respect to Henderson, when he came on it changed the game and we looked better - the lad has taken a lot of flack but he earnt his crust today - 2 good performances on the trot, hope Henderson can keep that up.

True and clowns praising Downing on here

09 Dec 2012 18:17:52
henderson looked a class act when he came on good on the lad feel abit sorry for him some of the stick he gets lol

09 Dec 2012 18:16:52
Don't look now lads, but we're 4 points off the top 4 spot, and 2 off the top 6. Next 4 games are crucial, UP THE FLAGS.

09 Dec 2012 18:15:16
Some of you so called supporters should be ashamed of yourselves today.

Fantastic yes we got three points but found out allen and others are no good even br knows this did you lip read him today.

Haha! That's the most moronic reply ever, and that's saying something! What, did you lip read BR saying 'Holy sh*t, I've just realised that Joe Allen is actually really crap - what was I thinking spending money on him!'

I'd go back to lip reading school, or just school, or maybe a nut house, or even a crack house.

Nick

Get off thisw page you wind up merchant. Joe Allen is a Liverpool player and he is magnificent.

is it just me who thinks we are doing superbly well with one striker in the squad and only four points off fourth imagine where we could be with two strikers jeeeeeeezzzz

jayblair89

Or even the 4 that everyone else has?

09 Dec 2012 18:14:02
sterling's biggert failure is he waits for the ball to reach him instead of moving toward the ball, therefore he makes it easier for the defender to come from behind and take the ball. when he has the ball at his feet he is brilliant, but needs to work on his movement when receiving the ball
welsh jeff

He got a man sent off on Thursdays night doing that.

09 Dec 2012 19:03:27
He's 18. No one's perfect at that age.

- Something Red -

Be fair to the lad, just turned 18, and although he's been one of our best players, he shouldn't have played as much as he has. Watching the last few games, I think it is evident he could do with a bit of a break. Personally, I'd rotate between him and Suso, then they're getting the game time/experience they need, but also a bit of protection and not too much pressure. (keep them fresh)Though for his size he does show some strength.

El Diablo!

Thats the passers fault. Ask any coach. You should never have to wait for a pass to reach you.

09 Dec 2012 18:12:55
4 points off Top 4 now boys! Futures looking good great footy under Brendan quality young players coming through. Agger skrtel immense, trademark unlucky/bad ref decisions. Can't wait till jan get a goal scorer in then make a real push for top 4. That last spot is wide open.

Lets do what fans are supposed to do and support the team we always knew we're looking for the long term. Theres gonna be ups and downs but I fully believe we are on track.

Keep the faith YNWA

Okay what have I just watched?
Every lfc player that had a terrible first 70 mins was the reason we won. That was crazy!

09 Dec 2012 18:09:56
I missed the game but came on here just as it was finishing. The comments on this are disgraceful. There are a lot of Liverpool fans that should be ashamed of themselves. A lot of you us can't even wait until the end of the game to slag off our team. This team has some grit and won't give in like a pricked balloon so don't write them off until the whistle because, like today, it makes you look like plastic supporters. Get behind the team for once. Some of you should be ashamed. Your treatment to our players and especially our manager is disgraceful. Shame on you.

Superb reply

09 Dec 2012 18:06:34
Not sure how we won that - doing well until the ridiculous pen against us (good pen though) and lost a stupid goal from the cross. Cannot believe how poor we were then - appeared to be fight or nothing and just gave the ball away.

Cole got his goal and we seemed to regain a little belief and well deserved the third - shocked everyone including the ref because after that he did everything he could to get West Ham an equaliser and once again denied a clear pen - we are not getting the decisions at all - quick stat guys - that's 4 pens we have against us this season - and we have not had one - something is not right

09 Dec 2012 18:06:15
Reading some of the moaning posts of the last hour and a half, I can only conclude that there are a lot of dissatisfied wives and girlfriends out there.
Some of you seem a little trigger happy......

Fantastic win! What a big, big fightback and performance from the lads! Hendo was class, Agger and Sterling were excellent, but my MOTM has to be Johnson - absolutely magnificent! Hammers were definitely up for it and played in-your-face, but we matched them. Again, for the moaners who couldn't shut up, up yours! Top ten and onwards! Singred

Got a bit lucky there as we were overran today, especially in midfield. About time we got a bit of luck though.

Downing still awful...which leads me to -

Worst player ever to pull on the mighty reds shirt?

Downing, Piechnik, Biscan.....?

Biscan is a ledgend!

And you forgot Diao, Dicks and Istvan Kozma anyway.

Kromcamp, Konchelsky, Dundee........

09 Dec 2012 18:05:06
We didn't light the world on fire but we tried to force a result (eventually) and it actually worked out for once. Despite looking a bit lacking at times, we looked threatening throughout. The defence looked solid and Skrtel was on fire! Johnson was tearing them apart in the first half and was always a threat. Downing had a pretty good game after all he's been criticised. Even Cole played pretty well. On paper, we looked like we would do well to manage a draw but we won and scored 3 goals, I'll take that any day. The only real negative was Sterling's wastefulness but he's still only just turned 18 and was still a threat.

A good game in all and a satisfying victory that sees us only 4 points off 4th place. Not to shabby considering the terrible start we've had.

Hey all you negative nancy's, how about waiting to the game finishes before slagging off our players, team, manager, fsg and anything else relating to the team allegedly we all support! A game is 90 minutes plus!
A Great win with no recognised striker!
A Happy Liverpool fan who understand's it will taske time to get back where we belong!

09 Dec 2012 18:23:04
Because weve seen it all too often, completely falling to pieces under the pressure. Comin back from that happens once in a blue moon for us, let's not dress this up! The win was down to a bit of luck not BR's amazing tactics!

09 Dec 2012 18:01:45
It was a rather dire performance BUT we got 3 points so I'll not complain. Great result. That is 3 victories in a week, two consecutive league wins for the first time in a year.

PS Thanks Joe for the equaliser. Everyone here(including myself) has been slating you, but thanks anyway.

Well, what a difference a half makes, c'mon you reds, YNWA.

09 Dec 2012 18:00:23
How the hell did we pull that off? Not complaining though, about time we had some luck. Still say Sterling is awful though and the game changer for me... when Diame went off. That guy tore us to shreds.

The game changer in the first half was losing Enrique!

How the hell is Sterling awful? Best youngster in the league by a mile.

How about some props to Downing for once. Defended well, got some good crosses in, and showed some grit after taking a knock. I know he's struggled at Liverpool and may not be "Liverpool quality", but I thought he had one of his better games for us.

He really defended well today. There was no attack from the left flank of West Ham, maybe they were weak on that side, or maybe Downing was good.

I do believe now, 4 points off 4th and 2 wins in 2.

Come on you REDS, GO MARCHING ON

Once again proved he is so much better at LB than LW. if BR permanently swapped him and Enrique we'd have two better players

Downing was really good today. It's hard to pick a man of the match though.

My MOTM is Downing. He has done really well today. Definitely one of his best game.

Hard to pick a MOTM?? What are you nuts. Johnson did anything he wanted at any time all game long. Clear man of the match {Ed008's Note - Probably one of Johnson's best ever game for you guys.

Johnson has been the player of the season for me. It is easy to notice a CB making those tackles and blocks like skrtel and Agger, but when a full back comes in to create width in a the game, it is extremely difficult to notice that.

Johnson has done that all season. He definitely is the player of the season for LFC.

09 Dec 2012 17:44:08
Ok what just happened? Joe Cole scored and we got lucky in a very short space of time?! We just need a penalty now and I will have to pinch myself!

Clear penalty denied. Again.

Almost, more reason to give Shelvey's penalty rather than giving one against Joe Allen. Bit of a harsh decision that one. Was impressed with Glen Johnston today, for me the the best Liverpool player on the pitch over the 90 mins.

09 Dec 2012 17:34:38
The last few games Allen defensively has been poor. I like the lad and think he is a pretty decent player. You can't blame him for the penalty, before everyone starts slating him but recently in them areas he has given away stupid free kicks and he can't catch up to play when a pass goes a stray.
I'm only saying this due to that is probably the position he is gonna play for LFC, he isn't gonna be able to push further forward due to Gerrard and co playing in that role.
Would like to see him strengthen up and work on his defense a wee bit more. I can see a good future for him at LFC.
Plus after todays game you see the huge need of an extra decent striker, we do need to pull out all the stops to grab a decent striker. I not not meaning that Sturidge is a decent player cos that guy is too inconsistent.

What's the point in bringing henderson on? Suso or morgan should be the change. Is joe allen bredon rogers love child? Any reason I can think of as to why's he's in the team

Perhaps he can provide an assist for Shelvey?

You were saying?

jt

09 Dec 2012 17:33:02
Diane goes off. Possible chance now as he has been dominating midfield

09 Dec 2012 17:32:50
get carra on? go 3 at the back and get johnson and downing much further forward. Take chances!
kidmillions

09 Dec 2012 17:32:42
a big team must have a great coach, proven coach not a mediocre one like we have.

Scared boys don't sign their posts ...

09 Dec 2012 17:32:29
Pathetic! Are we still improving? If the answer is yes jog on!

We're improving

You jog on billy no name

09 Dec 2012 17:32:04
Sack Clueless brenden before he can do anymore damage in the January window

Marc

Who's clueless now, Marc?

Good thing you waited until the end of the game before giving your ridiculous opinion....

09 Dec 2012 17:31:33
Please take of Joe Allen
never takes him of
He is Average
K.O.B

It's "OFF" lol!

09 Dec 2012 17:30:35
If I did my job to the standard that Joe Cole does, I'd be sacked

Haha doubt it you goon

You have the occasional good day in the office too?

09 Dec 2012 17:28:43
its disgraceful where we are at the money thats bein pumped into the club over the last number of years and we cant field a striker its pathetic championship teams have more fire power than us kenny and rodgers have alot to answer for wasting so much money

09 Dec 2012 17:28:40
Well as it stands.. No player on the Liverpool team adds anything to the Liverpool team. Balls.

Reina has been solid. But that's it.

Remember a game last's 90min

09 Dec 2012 17:28:30
I would take a draw right now 100%

You look a bit stupid now

09 Dec 2012 17:27:38
we must be the only fans to no when we go a gola down even if it in the fist minute we will losse the game west ham have made us look so bad can any one tell me when the last time we come back from a goal down to win a game

Today against West Ham! Hehe!

09 Dec 2012 17:27:03
Current worse players on the pitch:

Gerrard - well of the pace.
Cole - why is he even on the pitch? Ahead of Suso??
Shelvey - out of position and no service.
Downing - has been one of the better players the past 5 minutes though.
Allen - wasteful

Thing is, all those players are quality....maybe it's what they are being asked to do that is making them look bad.
Sooner we get rid of BR and get a proper coach with some tactical knowledge the better.
We should not be struggling against west ham. We got lucky yet again!

Ha, two of the players you mentioned scored goals and that's what counts, so keep you trap shut you clueless nugget!!

Actually 3 of the players he mentioned scored today :)

swedish adam

09 Dec 2012 17:26:31
Sorry boys but this is not moving forward .

No! We're not moving forward we're moving up! The league!

09 Dec 2012 17:24:45
The majority of these players have under performed under 3 managers now. Clear 'em out.

-Shane.

09 Dec 2012 17:24:31
The misplaced passes from all over are really infuriating me now...the only ones having an anywhere decent game is Pepe, Skrtel and Johnno. I literally put my head in my hands when Cole came on! They're making us look like we have half the players they do! Get a grip guys we need this!

09 Dec 2012 17:24:02
i feel sorry for jonjo

09 Dec 2012 17:23:42
Playing like a lower Leauge side, soooo embarrassing.

09 Dec 2012 17:22:42
Diame takes ball from Allen any time he feels like it. I like BR's approach, but I am losing faith that Allen was truly the man for our team.

Sahin hasn't had a great year, but surely he should start over Gerrard. Poor Stevie is lost. Downing, Cole don't require commentary.

09 Dec 2012 17:22:14
Outplayed, outclassed, outmuscled, outskilled.... Out BR....let's face facts we are a miserable midtable team... May as well man up about it...we are useless.

May as man up? No name I notice. Hows about manning up?

Andy K

09 Dec 2012 17:31:05
I have never know a Liverpool team to give the ball away as easily as we do! No creativity and simply not strong enough to compete against bigger, more eager and fitter teams than us....all who are better technically and want it more than we do! Grieves me to say it but it doesn't get any worse than this performance today!

Paul B

09 Dec 2012 17:30:37
Henderson coming - please god let it be for Gerrard

09 Dec 2012 17:21:47
Dear Santa,

Would you be kind and bring me something resembling Liverpool FC this Christmas?

It appears that I must have been naughty over the past few years and evidentially somewhere along the line you did a sneaky swap thinking I wouldn't notice?

It took me a while but I have finally cottoned on and apologise profusely. I am not sure what I did but it must have been very, very bad for you to give me this old rubbish.

Please be kind Santa

Lots of love

Clacker

09 Dec 2012 17:21:30
A massive plea to our owners spend some bloody money please ! We need more firepower! pull out all the stops cos we are not gonna finish in the top half at this rate

09 Dec 2012 17:20:52
Joe Allen offers nothing!

This whole idea of keeping the ball is wasted with him. All he does is give it away or get muscled off the ball.

Way too lightweight.

09 Dec 2012 17:20:06
Why a club with the stature of Liverpool has only got one recognised striker I will never understand.
Gazman

09 Dec 2012 17:16:36
Holy crap we're getting mullered.

09 Dec 2012 17:14:24
Show some plums Brendan stop guaranteeing Gerrard starts!

09 Dec 2012 17:13:22
Never a pen,Smith so Anti LFC in commentary. And hard luck with Enrique injured, but if Fenway wont invest adequately with B.r's reign thats what you get with small squad.

09 Dec 2012 18:03:45
Please stop this Anti Liverpool , its so Sad , no one can have an honest opinion ,I remeber whn our fans tured on roy when he said we'd be lucky to get 8th he was being honest Plus anlan smith has just said the one at the other end should have been a Pen it does my head when Liverpool fans go on and on about this Anti Liverpool this and that we no in some cases yes
who cares if Alan smith thinks this or that
K.O.B

K.o.b if you heard that guy hes a disgrace.Point is not about Lfc a commentator should be impartial doohhhh

09 Dec 2012 17:13:19
A bunch of lost sheep out there now. Our fears have been realized: we are a one man team. Without Suarez we are truly crap. Gerrard needs to retire or go to MLS.

09 Dec 2012 17:26:23
Your some supporter, "tosser"

09 Dec 2012 17:13:15
Move Johnson to rw. Go to a back 3 and bring Coates on. 3-4-3 and bring suso for Allen.

Without a doubt, the only player BR will bring on is Hendo, and probably for lucas

09 Dec 2012 17:12:25
I have heard that Huntelaar is set to be coming to us if he is then we will get 4th place

Are you kidding? I would be happy with 8th. Have you watche us play?

4th? HAHA. Best joke i've heard all day. Messi couldn't save this team.

4th place.... will be lucky to get top half!

You are delusional......

3 pointss shhhhhhhhhh

4 points off 4th now still 22 game's to go! Not impossible! With decent signing's in the window we'll be very much in the mix!

09 Dec 2012 17:12:22
This game is just a showcase for our deficiencies. Allen, Gerrard, Cole, Downing are so poor. Sterling is poor with the potential to improve.

09 Dec 2012 17:11:28
Memo to Brendan-Glen showed if you shoot insteadve pass pass pass what can happen! And STOP playing Downing, especially leftback!

09 Dec 2012 17:11:05
Raheem Sterling, worse player on the pitch by a mile.

09 Dec 2012 17:10:27
How long until Brenden uses they were tired card...

Mark

09 Dec 2012 17:09:45
jesus i thought gareth barry was slow till i saw joe cole trying to run , its like watching in slow motion .

09 Dec 2012 17:09:31
Never a pen! But show some balls lads b oody hell !

09 Dec 2012 17:08:54
Dont put Cole in Slow mo will look like hes going backwards! Surely Brendan Suso and one other be better than that pair.Even if Agger went leftback!

09 Dec 2012 17:08:41
The problem is Rodgers doesn't have a plan for wen we go in front... U know we're only gunna at best scoring 1 goal without Suarez in the team... U NEED to change yur tactics a bit to defend yur lead...

It's starting to get silly now

09 Dec 2012 17:07:34
Great start to the game, Johnson playing as well as anyone in the world these days. Enrique injury seemed to change the game a bit. Joe Cole has been very poor, and actually Sterling not having a great game either.

I don't think Allen is playing as badly as everyone else.

Come on let's go boys in the second half. Unfortunately this team starts well but seems to find ways to lose games.

Lee

09 Dec 2012 17:06:30
Since all Sterling contract talks hes been poor.Get that person Downing off Brendan ffs.He aint got bottle to tackle as leftback. And hes pretty useless elsewhere!

09 Dec 2012 17:06:23
Whooop!!no way ure for liverpool brendan..a smart coach can't bring downing and joe cole on in the same match

09 Dec 2012 17:04:58
Our Midfields too small and Lightweight. When we did well Stevie was in pomp with Didi.No presence nowadays. Were getting bullied.GET STUCK IN REDS!

09 Dec 2012 17:04:13
Cnt believe we missed out on diame for free and paid 15 for allen even tho i like allen n we missed out on jarvis n paid 20 mil for downing
Arghhhhhh gerrard du summa u bloody muppet

Basy blowin off sum steam
Wuuusa wuuuusa
Basy

09 Dec 2012 17:03:26
Same old start well then back into shell, sickve it!

09 Dec 2012 17:02:49
Johnson great wingback but NOT a fullback! LFC just aint worked to stop the ariel bombardment, its simple-STOP the supply, but we AINT!

09 Dec 2012 17:02:29
Our players need to man up big time, everythings fine when they stand off us. A good old kick up the arse is what's needed.

09 Dec 2012 17:01:47
I am sorry but why is joe coke on matter of fact why is he in the squad absolute pony! Morgan or Suso all day long and I really hate downing at left back would rather have jack Robinson on the bench to come on.

Deanalfie

09 Dec 2012 17:21:31
gerrard, downing and cole are playing rubbish.i cant understand why bring cole on! Gerrard just cant cut it nemore..his corner taking is terrible.forever red jack.

09 Dec 2012 17:01:21
Hmm So we've had 60-65% possession close to every game this year.. We've won 4 games.. That's FOUR games. FOUR. I guess this whole possession theory has been thrown out the window eh,

No it's just that we have only one striker to put the ball in net and make possession count.

Hans

Sorry hans but the difference between an average side and a world class side is goals from midfield and we are now an average team.

09 Dec 2012 17:00:54
any transfer funds will be used on a striker and no other players coming in. we need a commanding centre back,, cole and downing will be kept till the end of the season, because we have no choice!
JayB

09 Dec 2012 17:00:49
Great player hes been but nowadays were better without Stevie,as midweek showed.Sadly he doesnt power games from middle anymore. At times he stops running when chasing back!

09 Dec 2012 17:00:13
Taylor doing his best Nigel de Jong impression, that should have been a red in the World Cup final and that should have been a red today.

09 Dec 2012 16:58:46
sterling is so overated. they are many other youngsters in the academy that are way better than him

09 Dec 2012 16:58:01
That's the most gerrards done for a while, good to see he can still change the game :(

09 Dec 2012 16:53:56
when we have downing as left back nd Joe Cole in team what changes do we have..no point having Morgan yesil nd suso .Coates nd wisdom if downing nd Cole gets picked up.....

harry oldbury

I think I should curse players in game little more as they can listen to me...we won nd Joe Cole scored..early Xmas

harry oldbury

09 Dec 2012 16:53:11
I am sick to death of these rubbish refereeing decisions.

The lads not playing too badly, but need to see more from Sterling, Downing and what is Cole doing on the pitch.

I would settle for a draw now.

FT

I always said Joe Cole was a great player!

FT

09 Dec 2012 16:52:46
Gerrard continues his woeful form this season with an own goal. Has failed to break up play and has been sloppy with the ball, if Allen wasn't so bad I would suggest Gerrard be dropped - as it is Allen should be, has offered us nothing, passing and defening has been poor, gave away a (harsh) penalty and just gets bullied in midfield. A lucas, Gerrard, Shelvey mid 3 would be far more effective.

Downing should never wear the red shirt again - his heart isn't in it, why does Rodgers keep playing him when it's obvious he simply does not care?

Bar the Gerrard comments you're bang on mate.

Allen is so lightweight it's laughable!

09 Dec 2012 17:12:55
Mate gerrard has also created goal. The big problerm is Allen he doesn't offer us attacking or deffending which makes Gerrard to do too much he needs to be droped at the sametime Rodgers chooses our first Xi blindly. Time has come for experience Dof to help Rodgers or things are going to get worst its shame wesham outplaying us in floor

09 Dec 2012 16:52:31
FFS it's hard being a fan right now, awesome football for 15/20 minutes then it falls apart, and we get a ***** decision AGAIN!

When's it going to come together?

Never under Rodgers!

It won't.. We are bad. Simple.

Thank god it did, massive slices of luck all round, Hammers to get in the lead and us to come back.

09 Dec 2012 16:52:29
simply dissapointing coming to realize rodgers and allen are not for liverpool

09 Dec 2012 16:51:54
alen is a good player but how long can he keep playing like this b4 he gets dropped easy been 2 monts of porr games from him now should have played jonjo in midfield

09 Dec 2012 16:51:44
What a waste of a season. Whoever is responsible for leaving us with only one senior striker at the club needs shooting. At least Stevie has shown he still knows where the back of the net is!

NR

09 Dec 2012 16:51:26
hey ed what happened to assaidi, why is he not even in squad and also did not play in europa ..wondering why Br is sticking to cole and downing

vivek12011

Perhaps he is playing them so that another person club buys them ? SHOP WINDOW

If i was trying to sell a car that didn't run well I would't drive it up and down the road in front of the potential buyer! At this rate we'll get sixpence for Cole and Downing put together..............

09 Dec 2012 16:51:23
Im sorry but why does brendan bring on joe cole and play stewart downing we havent got time for playing people into the january market they are seriously no good it is terrible that these type of players get to wear that shirt. Disgusting.

09 Dec 2012 16:51:13
An absolute disgrace. How can you go to a football game without a striker in the squad? And play Downing and Cole over Suso and Henderson. Brendan continues to make poor choices. A penalty and an own goal sums up our luck. We are never going to score in second half. Going to be 3-1 to West Ham. And before people start making excuses, this is only WEST HAM!

Morgan is in squad ? obviously not good enough though ?

And they beat the chavs 3-1 - does that mean the chavs are as bad as us? Fool! Singred

09 Dec 2012 16:51:08
Game changed with Enrique going off.
Hope it's nothing serious and he is back for the next game.

09 Dec 2012 16:51:02
Why Downing and Joe Cole?
Please bring Suso on!

HK

09 Dec 2012 16:50:44
Men against boys at the moment getting over powered all over the pitch.

09 Dec 2012 16:50:23
Cole comes on, Liverpool down to ten men...

Nine men - Downing's 'playing' too

Haha, so true

9 - Dowings already on.

09 Dec 2012 16:49:56
How we can expect to win with cole and downing in our squad... just goes to show we are a mid to lower table team, with a low level manager and as fans our expectation and too high.

Mark

I didn't expect to win. Did you?

09 Dec 2012 16:49:48
Wow! Joe Cole and Stew Downing are absolutely horrible! Allen got a harsh penalty. Still, you have to say that West Ham look like they have this one

Coop

09 Dec 2012 16:49:47
Joe Allen = Waste of space
Gerrard = Past it (so waste of space)
Downing = Waste of space
Cole = Waste, period
Shelvey = As a forward waste of space

09 Dec 2012 16:49:34
Gerrard is the best liverpool player ever IMO.
However of late he just doesnt look interested.
He looks tired and is sloppy and wasteful.
He needs a rest for a few games.

09 Dec 2012 16:49:19
Match totally changed after Cole came on. Thought Downing did okay and Cole came in and was absolutely abysmal.

Keith YNWA

09 Dec 2012 16:48:47
While Stuart Downing is getting his weekly pasting from the opposition he should take time out and learn from Jarvis how to cross a ball....

Downing, Cole.... Honestly is that the best we've got, I can't believe Suso and Henderson arnt playing instead?

Curled1

09 Dec 2012 16:47:51
Big Sam, the man associated with the long ball game, has his side totally out playing us on the floor.

Sterling constantly giving the ball away.

Sooooooo bloody frustrating.

I would hardly call that playing us off the park.

Have some perspective.

FT

09 Dec 2012 16:45:04
Crazy goal by Johnson!

However, any squad with Cole and Downing on the field have little chance. Also, as talented as Sterling is, he is being easily outmuscled by West Ham. I think we will get beaten 5 - 1

09 Dec 2012 16:44:16
Yet another game passing Gerrard by.
Downing should not be on the pitch.
Shelvey should not be playing up front.

Who should play up front?
gareth

09 Dec 2012 16:44:09
Sterling is a lazy little git, watch him when he looses the ball.

09 Dec 2012 16:43:37
West Ham making us look like a bunch of kids. Joke!

-Shane.

09 Dec 2012 16:42:59
After today, I have some doubts in BR as manager. Enrique comes off and joe cole comes on? Sterling is having a shocker but I've always said that he is too lightweight. Downing is dogsh!t, simple as. Shelvey up front? He hasn't even had a shot yet!

Lets hope BR makes some changes because its clear to see we are being battered by west ham which is embarrassing beyond belief. Regardless of a work in progress, our team on paper is better than theirs!

Come on BR, grow some nuts and make the changes you need to!

Biggy Balls

You realise Enrique had an injury, right?

Alex

09 Dec 2012 16:41:46
Love the way everyone can get a pen for nothing and we never get one for actually getting fouled

09 Dec 2012 16:41:05
Joe Cole instead of Suso, really I just don't see it.....

Diame is running all over us....

Barbie

Madness must be shop window exercise.Agree joke!

09 Dec 2012 16:38:28
without suarez..we look like rubbishs...
joe allen is the worst buy in this season...
he brings absolute noting...

09 Dec 2012 16:53:55
u have to be kidding me allen is very good holding the ball now that lucas is back he will play up front we will see him shine
vivek12011

09 Dec 2012 16:54:44
What do you mean without Suarez? This performance is far more concerning than just Luis being suspended, they are completely dominating us in midfield! Even if Luis was playing he would hardly get a touch! This is awful!

Cos we are rubbish without him,but clowns will say we beat Udinese-(luckily in end) who had nowt to play for infrontve 12,000

09 Dec 2012 16:36:18
Should have brought suso on instead of joe cole i know he played midweek but joe cole might aswell not be on the pitch half the time

09 Dec 2012 16:29:46
Joe Cole comes on. He then gives the ball away 3 times within the first 30 seconds.

:/

-Shane.

No better than Sterling has been today.... what game are you watching?

Him and downing are useless! How do they get picked?

09 Dec 2012 16:46:07
I noticed that! Where is he meant to be playing? Surely Carra or Coates would have been better options?! This is just shocking!

Because he is rubbishe.

Downing rubbishe....

Allen rubbishe....

Rodgers rubbishe....

I said a long time ago that this team wa rubbishe and the manager was and is out of his depth.......

I wish for ****s sake that someone would put him out of his misery before he buys more rubbishe....Sturridge, give me a break!!

When will these owners realise that you cannot be successful with inexpereinced managers while paying peanuts for players......

Will you give Joe a break...

The poor fella only takes home 100,000 a week and he is trying very hard..

He should be the 1st name on the team sheet and in fact captain.

Mark

Downing and cole pathetic

I take it all back (well, not all of it, but some of it).

You can have your 100,000 this week for that goal. Go on, have it, sure it's Christmas!

Just do it again if you can.
...And mind those hamstrings!

-Shane.

09 Dec 2012 16:19:16
Downing is a donkey, has just given up, everyone playing decently instead of him, he should never play for us again, no point.

How come the whole world can see it bar BR

09 Dec 2012 16:16:04
Am i the only red who thinks Sterling isn't all that?

Great potential but then David Bentley and his ilk had 'potential'!

Has just turned 18 and is being offered no support of over lapping runs because Downing is seemingly incapable of doing anything positive for the team.

09 Dec 2012 16:03:34
Wheres Doni at? Has he done a runner from the club? {Ed002's Note - I think you can assume Doni will not be playing for Liverpool again.}

I have no idea. I'd love to know though.

Crazy.

BJH YNWA

09 Dec 2012 15:54:24
Alonso has come out saying that he wants to end his career at Liverpool... He's made it no secret... There must be a big chance we could bring him bk for 2-3 years

09 Dec 2012 15:51:14
You have to hand it to united....they are a prime example of where we go wrong, they had a goal disallowed for offside which should have stood and they go and score again to put things right...it happens to us and we jus moan and think the world is against us. we have to rise back and giv the world the finger like they do..anuva 3 points today please
COME ON LIVERPOOL

Yeap and now theyve given up.No steel or leaders in middle. No physical presence either!

09 Dec 2012 15:48:29
Personally I would start Assaidi or Cole over downing, anyway hope we get 3 points today

Anyone over him!

09 Dec 2012 15:43:04
Eds ar liverpool close to signing anyone?an answer would be nice,thanks {Ed001's Note - at least 22 days away.....}

09 Dec 2012 15:11:49
I personally would like to see huntelaar sign for us in january.
29 years old is old but with an expiring contract could be a bargain for a player with 81 goals in 111 appearences for ajax (wikipedia) , and 71 goals in 102 appreances (also from wikipedia) for schalke.
With the german and dutch league considered to be the closest physically to the Premier league and the pure quality of the striker, i would doubt he would struggle to adapt.
With rumours of him being available for 6 million, i would love to see an attempt to get him to fill our void of the player to link up in the box with super suarez.
Sterling on the left
Huntelaar in the middle
Suarez on the right
I expect a straight battle with arsenal for his signature, with their Champions league qualification may have the upper hand, but maybe the chance to re-partner suarez and join the highly decorated liverpool in rebuilding the former glory could prevail.
I would like to know other fans and lfc supporting eds (ed052) opinion on him as a player and possible signing, and any infomation on interest in him.
Thanks all,
Sorry for the long post
YorkshireRed

"29 years old is old"
Is supposed to read 29 years is older than we've become used to signing.
Was distracted by the manchester derby haha.
YorkshireRed

09 Dec 2012 15:44:22
I would love for LFC to sign Huntelaar, however I think peoples concerns come from the fact that he has struggled in better leagues such as when he was at Real Madrid...I think he would partner well with Suarez, he is the fox in the box type player we have been looking for, one of the best there is. At such a low price we can't go far wrong, there is minimal risk, it's not like we have to pay £35m *ahem* for someone who may or may not work out. It's always a risk signing players, there is no guarantee anyone will work out. £35m for Carroll and £50m for Nando, prem proven and ineffective. Michu on the other hand can't stop scoring, not many of us ja even heard of him! I think Huntelaar would be a good move, as long as he wasn't our only other strike option. If we got Walcott or Sturridge as well I think we'd do very well

I'd like Huntelaar and Sturridge or Walcott to arrive for extra fire power. I think we need another forward who's able to push out wide, Sturridge or Walcott can do that and they are both quite effective in that role. Huntelaar could happily play through the middle which is a position we don't actually have filled at the club in the 1st squad.

Suarez can just do everything and anything he wants really but those who say he's plays through the middle are wrong, he's always naturally drifting usually between the lines or else out wide. Also when Borini comes back we'd have 2 quality well rounded players in Huntelaar and Suarez and we'd have Sturridge and young Borini and Sterling, which is 5 players to fill 3 places, which you need over a season, i believe if we are going to be threatening in every match for goals and places in elite European competitions. :)

Sterling's really a winger, he should be cutting the grass right under Rodgers nose and getting instructions right in his ear in my view, i don't think we should be converting him to the smallest striker in the World, in one of the most powerful leagues, but Rodgers seems to like the idea. Although he's played a great deal of games already and may not have scored lots, he has acted as the signing we didn't get on dead line day and has made a big difference to the squad.

Suarez strikes me as one of the easiest people to manage, he just goes out and does his thing, the only worry is he going to be a bit nutty, which to be fair he's all but disappeared from his game of recent and what an example he's showing to Raheem, I can't even think of a time Suarez has been openly angry or disappointed with Sterling, he's just chin up and let's get busy.

The handball yellow which sees Suarez miss out against West Ham is about as natural as it comes i don't think that was petulance although rightfully punishable with a yellow, i guess it's a natural instinct when so focused. He'd be one of those managers heading every opportunity and taking every free kick from the dug out, i guess it's being in the moment.

Huntelaar and Sturridge/Walcott would be the biggest turn around for us, i believe for under £25 million or so in transfer fee's. Which would represent value for money, again in my opinion.

I think Huntelaar's got a few seasons left of heading in goals for fun and i think Sturridge, with regular football could develop into a very productive player. I like Theo Walcott and think he could be a instant impact at Anfield.

Huntelaar and either Sturiddge or Walcott. Then we'd be ready to rock and roll, i think the midfield is a working progress and not in top gear yet, with Lucas back let's hope we can remedy that but i believe that will come once the strikers start capping chances and we need more than one striker and a winger to make that vision become reality.

tl:dr YNWA!

Huntellar can't play for Arsenal in the Champion's League as he's cup tied through playing for Shalke! Plus he'd be cup tied for us in the Europa League! {Ed002's Note - Champioot for the Europa League.}

What do'es Champioot mean Ed002? {Ed002's Note - It is Dutch for "Champions League, yes, but not".}

If i was a youngster at the club now (i.e Morgan or Yesil) i'd be seriously disillusioned at seeing a midfielder start ahead of me today up front.

What chance would you have when (as expected) we sign a couple of forwards in January?

Really like BR but bad decision for me.

Sorry pal but i disagree,
As good as morgan and yesil are, i dont think they would be able to lead the line. Shelvey we all know loves to attack and proved against young boys he can be used as a temporary striker fairly effectively.
I can see where you are coming from and its a valid point but i beleive shelvey is currently better than the inexperienced yesil and morgan
YorkshireRed

What is downing doing the line up??
10 vs 11

Rubbish, BR starts Suso, Wisdom and Sterling regularly because they're good enough and ready. He can't start a young boy without experience against a strong powerful side like WHU. Either Morgan or Yesil, would get bullied by Collins, Demel etc probably ruining their confidence.

Shelvey may not be perfect, but right now he's the best option available.

Papa G

Fair point but how are youngsters expected to get experience if they don't play games?

BR's done great in this respect which baffles me as to why he's not given someone a chance

I know BR has been fantastic with the kids but for me today he's using a square peg in a round hole when he has got alternatives.

And Yesil wouldn't get bullied no way, he's pretty solid for a teenager

Hi folks, I am a bit confused, so I need your help! We let Ince go and now we are buying him for £6m. We could have bought Jackson Martinez for £4m,now he one of the hottest strikers in Europe, Michu was available for £2m, now we want to pay £7-£10m we were linked with Diame for free in the summer, now we are linked with a £6m bid. It seems all our dealings are retrospectively! We should be bold in the market, not wait for somebody else to show us the way! We are making all these small clubs rich! They take our money and spend it wisely! We could have a very good squad with the players mentioned all for £6m! But being Liverpool, we spent £10m on Borini, £15m! Enough said!!

You have to take all those rumours with a pinch of salt though mate.
Michu was not worth much more than 2 million,he's having a blistering start to his Swansea career, thats it. Demba Ba's knees are well documented. With Tom Ince, that is worrying. Not because it makes us look stupid, but i fear that the coaching staff must have been fairly certain he wouldn't make it,the worry is we are letting young players leave who have excellent potential.
And yes i know about his off field issues with his dad and stuff, but he cant have been that hard to work with if we are considering having him back now can he?
WelshBoyDave

And we are defo buying all these players?

Well captain hindsight which of those player were you calling for us to sign. i do not think liverpool would want ince back because him and his dad wanted him on high wages for a unproven talent. if we bring him back we will be caving to his demand. what message will that send to our youth.

He has'nt done to badly out of his career! load's of money and medal's to go with all that money! Only he never won that medal he left us to win and ironically we won it the season he left! Hehe! But he was suppose to have said his best career moment's happened when he was at LFC!

Running about like a daft sod in this stupid, red costume and at the end of it all I always end up with nothing." The elf say's "Now you know how Steven Gerrard feels...!! I'm a red but still thought it was funny

Ho ho ho!!

Gerrard, who has spent his entire career at Anfield, His honours include two FA Cups, three League Cups, two Community Shields, one Champions League, one UEFA Cup, and two Super Cups so far.

is that nothing? many people love to be in his shoes m8.

FA cup winner (twice)
League cup winner (three times)
Uefa champions league winner (once)
Uefa cup winner (once)
Uefa super cup winner (twice)
FA Community shield winner (twice)

I wouldn't say that's nothing...

Let's break this down: Steven Gerrard is 32 years old. Santa looks around 70 years old. Surely Santa would have known how Gerrard feels before him? This joke is a dud!

We all know that strikers helping Suarez getting the goals is necessary in january. But I think that we can also do with an attacking midfielder and perhaps an defensive midfielder as well. I also think that we need a new good keeper, either as a number two behind Reina, or as a new number one if Reina leaves in the summer.

Here are some players that would fill the spots:

GK: Jack Butland (Birmingham City), Bernd Leno (B.Leverkusen), Ron-Robert Zieler (Hannover 96)

CDM: Victor Wanyama (Celtic), Lars Bender (B.Leverkusen), Mario Suarez (A.Madrid), Blaise Matuidi (PSG), Maxime Gonalons (O.Lyon), Vicente Iborra (Levante)

AM: Isco (Malaga), Gonzalo Castro (B. Leverkusen), Lewis Holtby (Schalke 04), Miralem Pjanic (Roma), Coutinho (Inter), Marek Hamsik (Napoli)

ST/CF/LW/RW: Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (ST, Schalke 04), Roberto Soldado (ST, Valencia), Wilfried Bony (ST, Vitesse Arnhem), Cristian Tello (LW, Barcelona), Wilfried Zaha (RW, Crystal Palace), Lorenzo Insigne (LW, Napoli), Antoine Griezmann (LW, R. Sociedad), Dries Mertens (LW, PSV) *injured though, Dusan Tadic (RW, Twente)

LFC for life

Defo agree, we are so short of midfielders at the mo.

6 cm not including Suso, spearing or coady, not enough for you? Perhaps it's quality not quantity we need..

The team leak seems to be-
Reina, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Enrique, Lucas, Allen, Gerrard, Sterling, Shelvey & Downing.

Tbh I could have predicted that, Downing more defense minded than Suso. I might have said start Henderson at RB and shift Johnson to LB.
ForzaRed

Still puzzled as to why he'd play Downing when he could easily have Sterling on the right and Assaidi on the left.

JFT 96

JP

How is it nowadays we seem to get info leaked constantly? Thought we did stuff in private.

There must be a deficiency in assaidi's game we are unaware of, perhaps defensively, tactically, fitness, communication, a injury, who knows but it's keeping him out of the team.

Shelvey is slow and Suso isn't the quickest, we will be playing counter attacking football, hence Downing and Sterling as they have the legs to run.

Assaidi didnt play on thursday so maybe rodgers was saving him for today

Well said poster 4, there has to be a reason for his lack of games does he even speak english, maybe he does not have the fight in him yet like sterling shows every game .

I would love to see us sign James Mc Carthy in the summer.I have being watching the lad for the last number of years and have seen him play for Ireland and for me while we will never see the likes of Steven Gerrard again I think he is the closest of all the young midfielders in the league to him.I know that he got it very hard to leave Hamilton to come to England and is a bit of a home bird so I think we would have a great chance of getting the lad because he would like to stay in the north west.He was with us as a young lad on trial and we wanted to sign him but he didn't want to leave home at that stage but by all accounts he enjoyed it at Liverpool.Get him signed Brenden.Any thoughts Eds? Kenny.

Sorry kenny but you had your chance and spent soooo much on crap
robbie

Average player in a crap team! Made to look better than he is!

McCarthy has only just got back into the Wigan team, whilst i do rate him, he's no where near consistent with his performances. He's a tough little battler though and he will drive the play forward, but i don't think he's worth Hendo money (not that Henderson was either mind you) but if we look to McCarthy we'll be forking out £16m+ and there are better options for the team, but just in my opinion.

If we look at Gerrard the last few weeks he's been more defensive bound to the tactics, which is something none of us are used to, with Lucas coming back maybe you'll see a slightly more attacking Gerrard through the middle, i hope so anyway.

I know the lad might be 32 but Frank Lampard still scored for fun at that age, so i don't see why Gerrard couldn't. I know the physicality of Frank Lampard is a bit freakish, but i think Gerrard still has a lot of fuel in the engine left to burn. Lucas is the key and now he's back in the fold we may see some flashes of a classic Gerrard come to light and add some assists/goals and ultimately points.

I am 50/50 with Sturridge, i think we need ''finisher'' as easy as i make it sound. If we bought Sturridge and Huntelaar then i'd be more than happy, but Sturridge on his own may not be enough fire power for are more than obvious needs.

09 Dec 2012 10:57:06
Xabi Alonso - this is 50/50 to happen in January, enquiries have been made via his agent, if not Jan then likely in the summer window.

Theo Walcott - again this may or may not happen in January, mainly dependant on whether Wenger will let him go.

Daniel Sturridge - this should go through but is mostly dependent on whether Chelsea's demands are reasonable, its expected that AVB will join in the bidding.

If we don't get a striker in jan, will we still hear yeh but we're goin in the right direction? If I was BR I'd tell them to back me or sack me

And end up like Rafa when he told Inter to back or sack him? Rafa got fired for thinking he was Mr now it all. Don't think Rodgers is that arrogant.

FSG brought Rodgers to the club and he has been made aware that things are not going to change overnight and that is why FSG will give him time to rebuild.

People have to realise that appointing Rodgers is not a quick fix and that the rebuilding process will not bare fruit straight away.

Be patient please.

Benitez is his own worst enemy, he thinks he's irreplaceable, he's been at war with the owners at Valencia, Liverpool n inter Milan, since he's been at Chelsea hes already said that Chelsea don't have a big enough squad to cope with all competitions etc, he's now come out and started blaming the fixture list....... He's a broken record, he did the same at Liverpool n he's repeating himself over n over again! So Benitez what's next ?

Hi Eds, I was reading that in Spain there is a Super Tax to be introduced, not quite sure when this comes into effect but my question to you is, who do you think will come to the Prem within this Transfer window. I have a few friends in Madrid who are saying this is going to be a big problem to La Liga and there is already player unrest in all the big teams in Spain and that there are many looking to leave ASAP. Good luck to LFC this afternoon, hoping for a great win. Cheers Eds. {Ed002's Note - There is a higher level of income tax that has been introduced in Spain and is now being extended to cover income from existing contracts. It is not really practical to list all EPL interest in Spanish players here.}

Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso wants to return to Liverpool.
The Daily Star Sunday says Xabi's current deal has 18 months to run and the Spanish giants won't start talks until the summer.
But by then, Alonso, 31, will already have decided on his future, with a desire to link up once more with his great friend, Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.
Alonso and Gerrard talk regularly with the Kop star saying: Xabi Alonso is the best midfielder I have played with. I miss playing with him.
Now Gerrard looks like getting his wish with Alonso determined to return to Anfield before he hangs up his boots.

Trying to readjust to at pace of the Premier at 31. Couple of bad games in; his reputation would be in tatters. (fickle fans) so he's got nothing to gain by coming back and everything to lose.

Yes the following statement is true.
However, gerrard also wishes to play under Mourinho too so that could mean a move to Real Madrid.
In hindsight a swap deal for Kaka etc could be on the cards, but you will have to watch this space.

Hey, Sorry if this is already answered, But is there a reason assaidi is given so limited playingtime? Seems strange of BR to use money on a wingerforward without letting him play. And then say in the media after every draw and loss that we lack players around suarez?

Hes brendans secret weapon and will take the premiership by storm the second half of the season... Jdog

If I remember rightly when we bought Rodgers said that his first year was about bedding him in and getting use to England. I just think we need patience.

That's one of the mistakes KK made. He let Henderson,Adam,Carroll just walk into the team ahead of Kuyt (Dutch International) Maxi (Argentine International) and Bellamy (Welsh International) None of whom had ever let the club down: If Assaidi is good enough he will force his way in eventually.

The opinion here in the Netherlands is that he was only ever bought as a squad player and that he will be quite happy filling that role with the tremendous rise in salary that he has got!

Sometimes its easy to look at a player and not understand why we don't go for him at just 7.5 million but then you read a good article and it all becomes clear!!

FSG (despite previous mistakes) seem to at least be getting a hand on the financial side of things.
