For some reason, I would love Shelvey to get the winner in the last minute and do a Suarez-like celebration in front of Fergie. HullRED

Haha do a two footed slide tackle in front of the dug out

At the Minute his first touch travels that far he could Score!!!

Lyndon

Why, what happened?

Piledriver

Suarez to score the winner deep into Fergie time would do me nicely.

That would be hilarious, mostly because it makes no sense!

Liverpres

10 Jan 2013 01:43:13
He is very young, we should send him on loan.

How about just stand in front of fergie and just stare at him very awkwardly?
AnfieldUSA

Id like to see Suarez score the winner and do an Evra-type dance :)

Id love suarez to score in the 93rd min and celebrate by lifting his shirt up revealing "fergie time" on his shirt underneath.

Suarez to score the winner in Fergie time with his hand then kiss his wrist infront of Fergie.

Havent heard any tripe about Suarez from Utd this week perhaps they have learnt from other teams mistakes!

Chelsea where aweful there player gives 2 goals away they miss chances and the fans are signin for di matteo! And booing Benitez...embarrassing fans! Made up for the swans hope they go all the way.
Kp

And in what way is that different to when Hodgson was in charge and fans called for Kenny!!!

Lyndon

Omg totally agree! Chelsea played much better football then with di matteo and you can blatently see that was not the managers fault that was down to the player completely. Anyone could see that Chelsea fans are persons.

Londonred

Chelsea are capable of scoring 2 at Swansea... Hope they don't manage it

Oh I see, when they win its because Benitez is brilliant and when they lose its the players fault. Typical Rafa loving argument

Any more embarrassing then liverpool fans demanding rodgers be sacked? Our owners leave? and accuse them of stealing Liverpools income. Or how about our players being described as deadwood from some corners? Before insulting chelsea perhaps we should get our own house in order.

09 Jan 2013 23:45:40
but you won't hear ed002 ranting on about how abusive their fans are...cant wait to hear what he has to say about it after hearing him berate our fans all season for not supporting rodgers. {Ed002's Note -What I find strange is that you are so obsessed with Chelsea. I am right now not in a country that showed the game.}

I agree with ed 100% I've often slated people who come on her from other teams obsessed with us.

Reusch

Chelsea battered them they had two chances off mistakes what a miss by mata in first half at 0.0 aswell i understand with them being angry at torres he didn't put a shift in at all benitez got stick simply cos he was with us he always will he's on the road to knowhere for the way they they really need to play ba as there style needs someone to hold the ball up and bring there mids into play torres is simply gone

mayhem 1981

Funny!! Double standards you abused Hodgson in large numbers!!

Being that Biased is Tragic and sad alot on here have abused their own players as much as any other team!

So get off your Pedestal

Those who disagreed in what way is it any different to abuse off Hodgson??

Is it just because it's against uncle Rafa

Jokers

Actually Ed has never defended Chelsea fans, merely made a point of our own. If you visited the Chelsea page you would see he got sick of their attitude and stopped answering questions.

Dan.

10 Jan 2013 11:40:19
It doesnt matter if you watched the game or not, i am referring {Ed001's Note - oh give it a rest, Ed002 hasn't even been the one editing that nonsense. Embarrassing this is, you need to grow up.}

09 Jan 2013 21:41:53
any chance of us getting miralem pjanic from roma? he seems like a decent player.

Snafu

Not decent, he's magical.

I remember buying him when he was 16 on championship manager (not sure what year). I didn't have a clue who he was. I played him straight away in the left central midfield role in a 442 with him pushed forward a bit. He scored a hatrick every other week.

If only it was real.
Cudge

09 Jan 2013 21:18:50
What has happened to Blair Mayne? {Ed002's Note - WonderDogSparky gave some recent updates on Twitter.}

How can anyone disagree with a question?

09 Jan 2013 21:18:44
No more deals will be done. Tom Ince is not coming. #FACT. We should have learned our lesson in buying British players, they are not even close to foreign players in every aspect yet their transfer fees are so much more.

Carrol £35,
Downing £20,
Henderson £20,
Adams £10,
Allen £15.

Thats £100 million down the drain. Thomas Ince will be another mistake, so lets pray we buy foreign or not at all.

Its not about what country theyre from its about how good they are

We bought average british players last season this time theyre actually good

Look at chelsea today full of top european an south american talent but got beat at home by swansea 0-2

Yea lets buy foreign, like

Aquilani
Poulson
Sean Dundee
Sahin
Kromcamp

Good Idea

Evered

I heard La Tallec is up for grabs.

No1s guna agree with you but urself, you don't even know charlie adam's name...
Paul

Its being so cheerful that keeps you going mate.

Yeah british players are awful
lets sell all our young upcoming british talent because they obviously arent going anywhere

Wisdom
Sterling
Shelvey
Hendo
Flano
Robinson
Kelly
Sturridge
Allen
Coady
Morgan

I'm sure after our success with players like Gerrard and Carragher none of these players will amount to anything.
Congratulations on your undefeatable logic.

The OP said 'Fact'. Nothing more to discuss then.

Ever notice that persons always seem to think Charlie Adam's name is 'Adams'.

I can guarantee this guy also is a Benitez die-hard who has inexplicable attacks of amnesia, and a memory that consists entirely of the game in Istanbul, finishing 2nd, and the games v Utd and Real Madrid.

Oh, and Rafa's last season didn't happen either. It was all just great.

And the football was amazing too....

Just an observation.

To the OP - Am I wrong? Or can I read your soul?

BJH YNWA

To be honest sturridge at 12milion is about market value, both chelsea and liverpool got decent deals from it

and ince for 6 million is also a good deal

we may have overpaid in the past but i hopnestly believe the reason we didn't sign dempsey in summer and why we profess to having little money was to stop this trend of paying 16 mill for hendersons and allens.

i think we have more money than we let on

tom1975

You can't argue with ince s statistics
13 assists and 10 goals in 20 odd games is top class in any league and says to me that he s too good for the division he is in. whether he replicate that level of performance at top flight level where defenders are that yard quicker is another thing

but for 6 million it is worth the risk.

I have it from an inside source at the Emirates that Walcott signed yesterday, Arsenal will confirm in the next few days and yes he is staying put

Only Source you have is more likely

Not lfc related but anyone watching Chelsea v Swansea? Michu for 2 million I mean whoever scouted him should give them selves a pat on the back! I mean last season he was the missing part of our jigsaw someone who could finish.

London red

Right!! We'd now have to sack the Newcastle scout everybody wanted last year. To now get the Swansea one!!

Its hard to keep up!

I think out scouts who are getting all the youth lads is doing a Pretty great job....
We'll stick with him.

Lyndon

Whoever scouted him?. He was the top scoring midfielder in La Liga last season, I scouted him on Sky Spots Revista la Liga.

One season wonder

He is brilliant, not just scoring tap ins, but has an all round game about him.

Also had 14 goals in la liga last season from a midfield position

09 Jan 2013 23:56:17
Oddly my brother went to see a game in Spain and visited the club shop at Rayo Vallecano. He told me the shop was tiny but was basically packed full of Michu related stuff, his name on virtually all the shirts.

He watched the game and thought he was some player. He said he couldn't believe the price Swansea got him for but immediately put him in his Fantasy Football Team for this season.

Perhaps we should visiting the club shops to see who to buy?

I remember Danny Baker telling the story of scouts coming to the pub near Millwall ground saying they were looking at Cascarino, the fans all told them Sheringham was by far the better player.

The fans know ;)

Thomas

Brendan rodgers reportedly began the interest of michu while he managed swansea, he discovered him. Just for the record incase anyone says brendan looks at the wrong players.

Anonymous woolback {Ed002's Note - Michu was a Laudrup buy.}

It was down to laudrup he already knew about the player, and he knew he was one of the top scoring midfielders in spain, its a pity he never came to us because a lot of players went to swansea because of who laudrup is, but at the end of the day no other scouts from any team in the prem seen him, laudrup has added to swansea and made them a better side

Hi Ed002,
do you think both Suarez and Sturridge will start at United on Sunday? thanks.
tom {Ed002's Note - No. Just Suarez is my plan right now.}

Woops! Ed002 accidently let slip that that he is in fact Brendan Rodgers.

09 Jan 2013 20:15:16
Could Liverpool be looking at Danny Rose after his loan?

09 Jan 2013 20:42:54
Happy with the Sturridge as much needed cover for Suarez

Not so bothered with bringing in anymore widemen in the front 3 as we have enough cover on these position - maybe ince as long as less than £5m

Desperate for a fox in the box or out and out finisher - need this type of player if plan A is not working

Desperate for a No 10 / playmaker in midfield 3 - now that cole is gone and Sahin wanting to leave/play deeper and shelvey not able to do it against better teams (lacks the first touch and composure) and Suso still a few years away from being the finished article and Gerard preceding to play deeper at his age (struggles to find space and trickery in the final third)

Then need a 21-23 yr old left back

Leam Red

Borini will be back soon hopefully! and jack robinson looks to be a good player for the future (left back)

Paul

Will try to answer my own question

Fox in the Box - £6-8m Austin or Hooper until Yesil ready - these guys may not start every game but can be brought on when needed

No 10 - these guys aren't cheap and are a rare commodity (unless you look in Spain - Silva/Mata etc) BR is definitely after this player but Dempsey/ Gyli are just poor imitations
Jovetic too expensive / taarabt maybe

Left Back - the lad from Celtic quick attacks well and defends reasonably well

Leam Red

I agree, but to say Shelvey is lacking composure at 20 years of age is a bit silly. He has been tremendous in most games.

Shelvey is more of a box to box midfielder

Suso is a number 10 type midfielder - able to unlock defences with a killer pass or a quick dribble even when surrounded by defenders

Shelvey struggles when under pressure - no doubt when he has time and space he can find the right pass - but it may take time as it is not his natural position (much like gerard)

Fox in the box is borini

A question for reds and eds. was just wondering why we haven't seen Joao texerra get a chance in first team as we have given a lot of the youngsters a run out. From wat I have seen of him I taught he looked really good, a bit like a younger kaka . He is nearly 20 years old now so should be starting to peak. Has any body got any info on him thanks.

eire red {Ed001's Note - if you read through the posts you will find an explanation.}

To summarise. He is a young foreign lad trying to settle into a new culture who suffered a bad injury when he first arrived. He has only been fit for a few months and not played too many games, not his fault, just lack of u21 fixtures. Id guess next season we will start to see a lot more of him.

Frank McParland recently did an interview where he spoke about Joao and said that he's suffered badly with his back but he's recovered now and is on the way back. By the sounds of what he said he feels asif he could be a huge player for us so it's likely if he can get fitness and stay fit with the reserves he will be looked at in the summer friendlies as potentially we could have a perfect number 10 in him, however with the emergence of Suso already and other centre mids he may be overlooked unfortunately

Wish we sign
Michu what A goal machine signing of the season easily

Do i remeber correctly that Rafa wanted Philippe Coutinho at Liverpool, but then brought him to Inter when he left as?
Was he ever scouted by our scouts in the past?
I don't know what is Ed's oppinion on him. ?

Aldo

{Ed006's Note - I am not sure on him, he is young and has potential but I dont think he is as good as the likes of Ocscar.}

Liverpool should get more Brazilians and other South American players. I think they bring flair skill class and talent. Unfortunately we're goin for the British route where the players are over valued even for average players for some reason. {Ed001's Note - you mean like Suarez and Coates who were both bought recently? Or do they count as British?}

Rafa didn't sign him he was a
Ready at inter top young player though

He is a bright talent great imagination on the ball...
Paisley's genius

No ed I think he means players like Adam downing Carroll and Henderson. With the money they cost you could literally buy 50 michu's.

I d agree we should be looking at getting top south americans in before they become superstars and we can't afford them

scouts to all underage south american tournaments but i m sure we do that already. a lot depends on the manager i think, rafa seems to like south americans

tom1975

Well he would't cost 28 mil., would he Ed006 ? :D {Ed006's Note - No probably not.}

09 Jan 2013 19:53:34
Guys do you think playing on that bog of a pitch on Saturday will hamper your style of football, appreciate it won't affect Utd who just hump it up to Van Jangles.

I guess it'll be like an away cup game against a lower league team with that swamp, although that's being a bit unfair to lower league teams.

Stoner

09 Jan 2013 20:19:04
Sorry my mistake, Sunday.

Stoner

Stoner

Sucking up to the scousers is a little pathetic. I would have thought after 8 years without a trophy at the Emirates you should be concentrating on your own team, you know, how to hang on to your best players. Wait a sec...

AJH

Well said AJH. It's funny Stoner even looks up to the Liverpool fans at least they know what it's like to see silverware every few years.

Also, I spotted another typo - when you say 'lower league' I think you mean 'top of the league'. Close, but there's a crucial difference.

Gav

AJH, remind me what your doing here? Come on love its time to go to bed back to the arsenal forums, don't forget to put your straight jacket on and strap yourself into bed!

A question for the Eds and fellow Reds.Realistically, what do you think Andy Carrolls value will be come the end of the season, if he continues with his usual mixture of injury, lack lustre performances and the occasional good game. Some are of the opinion that AC is worth a small fortune, i am not in agreement, what do you think ?? Beardsley's Boot's

Sturridge, English International not getting a game with his then club £12m ish. Personally i think we would be lucky if we got close to this, and if there is some sort of clause with the Hammers to buy if they stay up for £17m? i would snap off their hand!

Pity as well, as he is clearly a good player, and young and could develop, the big money move to a big club wrecked him too early in his career IMO.
Piddy

I can't see him being worth a small fortune mate, think we'll be lucky if we even sold him for half the amount we originally paid for him.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

I would say even with a good second half to the season fully fit £15 / 17 million max

12 million. I'd take it aswel because he isn't gonna get a game under Brendan

I'd say he'd go for 10m. I'd snap off anyone's hand for more than that.

BthekingB

Unless by some miracle he starts being amazing and uninjured the 2nd half of the season, I think we'll be lucky to get 8-12M for him in the summer.

I would tend to agree with Piddy, £12 m would be a result, 10 or less might be nearer the mark !! Beardsley's Boot's

09 Jan 2013 21:16:12
People make too much of the Carroll fee. If you also think, like I do, that Chelsea overpaid for Torres - the form he was in at the time surely didn't merit more than 25m - then Carroll cost us 10m. Carrolls remaining contract is also due to cost us c10m so factor that into your thinking too. I was also told if we hadn't spent the Torres fee when we did we would have lost a lot of it to tax which is money going out of the club. That year Liverpool made 5m on player purchases and sales by the way.

So if AC was valued at 17m in the summer that was probably a bit OTT. 12m given his injuries and lack of games seems fair and hey, that's hat we spent on Sturridge. Maybe we aren't muppets in the transfer market anymore.

Listen to Ed02 and Macca who appreciate we are righting wrongs and getting the squad size nd profile and salary structure right. The TV money to come in the next few years will be immense and if we get things right it's a chance to close the gap on teams above us. The winner of the PL next season gets 100m. That is astonishing.

Getting him off the wage bill is worth 4-5 million a year.
I'd take 10 million or just keep loaning him out to get his wages paid.

The lad's got a problem with his lifestyle, shame he's p'd his career up the wall.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

I would class £17.5 million as a small fortune personally

Gav

I know gave, agree mate. The question is, do you think we would even get that amount for him? Personally, I doubt it.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

hi all good news within the next 48hrs we are to make an approach for theo walcott this is genuine information my source who i can not name has never let me down and he works within the club. offer to be around £9-12 million he will be signing a 4 year deal 90k a week wages. s.mcC

Arsenal will turn it down IMO

Oh....my....god, how delusional are some people on this site?

Then your source is not telling you the truth .. assuming you had a source ..
How can you jump from "we are to make an approach" to "he will be signing a 4 year deal 90K a week" ; there are few steps in between and many negotiations to be had ..
If you stopped at "offer to be around" then I would 've definitively believed you.

Roy

Yes mate the only problem being that the new arsenal contract NOT Liverpool.

Is the reason you can't name him because he/she doesn't exist?

MIKEY

Source? I think you've been on the sauce mate

No name poster yet again claiming to be in the know.

Walcott has apparently agreed to sign a new contract at Arsenal, you will see it in the papers tomorrow.

BigD

He's signed a new contract at arsenal. Back to the drawing board for our scouts or as they call it, match of the day.

Hi Eds

Quick question on the rumoured fee for Tom Ince - How come we are paying £6m for someone we let go for peanuts 18 months ago and from what I understand he only has another 6 months to run on his contract? (from what i have read)

If we thought he was that good then why did we let him go in the first place?

Yorkshire Kopper {Ed001's Note - Blackpool have a year extension they can use, so his contract is 18 months, not 6. We let him go because he refused a new contract, due to not being afforded the opportunity to play. It was a different era, different management and the lad has made huge strides since leaving us.}

We didn't let him go - he wanted out because we couldn't/wouldn't give him what he wanted - first team football there and then.

Have you seen the price of peanuts these days!

M.Aurelius

Its a shame we didn't just send him out on loan for a season or 2. We could have saved that 6 million transfer fee.

MIKEY

He didn't want to be loaned out MIKEY, he wanted first team football for a few years and then move onto a top team.

BthekingB

Price of cashew nuts in a different ball game!

Myk

09 Jan 2013 21:16:11
highendsight is a wonderful thing mikey

Maybe what has happened is a good thing and it is good for us. 6 mill in the long run aint bad money if he has made big strides.
huddz red

Ive read that he wanted 1st team football with us, but left because he did not get, people have said about loaning him out for him to get 1st team football, but he did not want that, but what's the difference say to loaning him to blackpool for 1st team football to selling him to blackpool for 1st team football, either way he gets 1st team football with blackpool, but this way we sell for 250 grand and buy back for 6 or 7 mill, i thought he was part of the charlie adam deal, because blackpool seen something we did not, its only now that we see it

Ed 01 just said that Turan is available and he wants to come to England. I presume that Editor 2's stand is that he will not be joining us this January. What do you think ED 1 ?

On another point,
I like Sturridge and Ince but I don't think that they are the answers to our big problems. I don't intend us to go after the big talents but players like Turan, Mertens and so on are much better than Britain based players. yes there are top players in this league. but when these players decide to move on, there are 4 or 5 teams ahead of us which these players prefer. so if we are still sticking to this premier league transfer policy, we will end up getting average players.
for example there are very talented players in France who are available this January. yet so far, we ignore to look at them. whats the point of having all these scouts all over the world? I just can't seems to understand these things.

I may seem to be complaining, but it seems like we want to believe that the damage done by the previous owners was do severe that it will take us years to build a successful squad again. I don't think it was that bad, these owners came before it went too far.with the kind of money we have spent so far and the opportunities that were presented to us to be in top 4 again, i believe we did bad for the last few years. I believe that ED001 is with me on this, but am glad to hear your opinions.

miccmak {Ed001's Note - I really don't expect Turan to move in January, due to the price, but the foundations are being laid for a move away. I know the lad would like to move to England to play for us, I just don't believe we will move for him.
The scouts are also there to look for the Suso's of this world, more so than the Turan's. I also think it will take a few years to rebuild the squad to where it was before, then a couple more to challenge for titles, let alone win them.}

We ll be top four next season

09 Jan 2013 16:26:56
For Ed001

Great to have you back mate! How have you and your daughter been?

Ed, do you have any idea how Sturridge is coming along in training?

United Kolours Of Bennetton {Ed001's Note - cheers mate, good thanks, took her to see the delights of the greatest city in the world this month, so all is good! I believe Sturridge has been doing well, I am told he has been eager to learn, which you would expect from a new boy. Fingers crossed he will slot in quickly, he does know Rodgers and a few of the other players well.}

Tbh the thing I always thought Sturridge needed was an arm around the shoulder and to feel wanted an Rodgers with his excellent man management skills recognises that straight away. He will be a great player for years to come!

Ed1 how dose he know rodgers? rodgers left chelsea before he arrived

majestic69

Rodgers would have kept in touch with the Chelsea set up and still went along to their training sessions as he is always eager to learn himself.

09 Jan 2013 16:07:31
Hey Eds

I know you have spoken about the following two players quite abit

Walcott
Turan

but was wondering if you honest opinion who would be the better signing for us in the long run?

RamyTheRed {Ed001's Note - for me there is no doubt Turan is the better player and would be a better signing.}

09 Jan 2013 18:57:58
So Ince to Liverpool bar a major hiccup. Good buy. Better all round game than Sterling at this moment in time. RED LENIN

09 Jan 2013 18:57:41
Here is a question from an American Liverpool fan. How much do you all believe in these young attackers? I'll be the first to admit that, although I love watching, I don't have the eye for it that fans who have been watching for far longer do. So Im asking on our young guys, the ones on the first team and the ones still not quite on the first team. How good does everyone think these guys can be:

Raheem Sterling
Suso
Jonjo Shelvey
Jordan Ibe
Samed Yesil
and perhaps even Thomas Ince

Out of all of them I think that Suso is the real stand out, not seen enough of Yesil and Ibe but I've heard great things about both of them. Sterling needs a rest at the moment but he's been a real stand out performer this year. I personally prefer Hendo to Shelvey, imagine if he had Shelvey's confidence, he'd be awesome! Still think Shelvey has the potential to be a key player for us though.

Alan Partridge

Sterling will be a good player his main attribute being his speed, which is what we've been lacking.

Suso will be a cracking player, could be as good as silva in my opinion.

Shelvey will make it could possibly fill gerrards boots one day, don't think hell be as good though.

Ibe I think is going to be class, fast, good with his feet and not affraid to run at people.

Yesil I've not seen a lot of.

Another one for me is wisdom, this guy will be a rock.

LAVERS

If they all keep focused in living their live's professional and civil in the proper way, they listen and absorb what's been asked of them on the training ground, with plenty hard work they all could be world class! They must be giving the right sign's back to the management as all bar Ince are signed on long term contract's! Hope that help's?

Im the one from the first post, but here is my point. If we all believe in these guys and the club does too then doesn't it make sense to not go crazy buying players. Look at all those attackers I mentioned, look at the back with Wisdom, Kelly, McLaughlin all potentially coming along. Any player we sign is going to take playing time away from these guys. Even if it takes an extra year or two to get back to where we want to be, wouldn't that be worth it if in the long term these guys could bring us back to truly the top? Meaning League Champions and competing for European Champions?

My plan would be to take a measured approach to transfers these next couple years. Not saying spend no money, but be smart. Put money away, get these kids all signed long term to reasonable deals. Then when they are ready to start reaching their potential spend big money on the 1 or 2 guys who can really put us over the top.

Some of them will be good and others will flop. I think we have a real star in Suso. But wouldn't it be nice if they all stayed at Liverpool like Gerrard and become world beaters. Like Barca

Coady and Robinson could become excellent players too.

Square Red

{Ed006's Note - Robinson yes, I still have my doubts on Coady.}

I think suso and wisdom are the 2 most promising from what I have seen. They are the 2 I see having long productive careers.
Sterling, although I think he will be very good, as someone said his main threat is speed. Speed obviously dwindles as you get older and I suspect his usefulness will start to dwindle once he has hit 27. (long way off yet though)
Yesil and Ibe I have not seen enough of yet to really comment. They need game time with a senior squad (Liverpool or on loan) before we can decide if they will make it or not.

MIKEY {Ed006's Note - Ibe will be as good as Raheem.}

I think Ibe will be better than Sterling. Its a big ask but when i watch Ibe i think he has more to his game, more of a goal scoring threat than Sterling, more direct.

The Irish Rover

Ibe was starting for Wycombe at 16, I think he will be a great player for us, people shouldn't underestimate coady either, he's cool and composed, works hard, passes and defends well and more importantly he is a scoucer with real leadership qualitys. With Brendan's recent interview I think a lot of effort will be put on developing coady, he will get favouritism imo. Same with Adam Morgan, Brendan wants there to be a local feel to lfc

Hi Ed006,

I am the same as you, sometimes I see Coady and think he could seriously be the next Gerrard, then other times his decision making, positioning, passing and tackling will be awful. What do you think he needs to do to make it? I think he has the potential to be a descent box to box midfielder but is way too inconsistent to be a world beater. {Ed001's Note - he needs first team football, a loan period is required if you ask me.}

What ever happened to one time target Cherno Samba?

Best player on Champ Manager. Gerard nearly signed him but Millwall wouldn't accept the terms. Since then he has been much lower profile and played mainly in obscure European Leagues.

My mates brother is ex-Blackpool and he's asked his ex-team mates about the Ince situation. They all said he's as good as gone but Oyston, in typical style, is holding out for every last penny. It's possible it could be done by the weekend but more than likely some time next week.

This isn't rubbish btw, I know it sounds like one of those 'my mates cousin's dog walkers, half cousin's milkman who knows a catering person an Anfield' kind of posts but that's honest truth.

In light of the many United "Trolls" coming on here, being obnoxious and all what, I'm a looking at our two 'probable' First XIs and I am struggling to find much difference to promote their ego.

I reckon we are probably matched in the goalkeeper department. Our defence probably edges out theirs, even though both have been shaky this season. There is a 21 point gap but we have actually let in 2 less goals which must show something.

As usual against United, we will dominate the midfield IMBO [in my biased opinion]. Their only truly better area is strikers, which as IMBO relies upon RVP - but clearly we are looking to rectify this in the window.

If we can find a way to nullify RVP (easier said than done), then I think Suarez can give Ferdinad, Evans or Vidic a headache and a couple cards to boot. I reckon if we give it our all - which we normally do against them - we are capable of getting a result, and a draw is a great result.

My two cents ;)

Jolly Red

All sensible and feasible! Just see if we can put it into practice! Here's hoping!

Nath

Agree with what you say, But what do we do with their twelve man ? ant

I can see both teams scoring. Suarez will be saving his best for this game for a few reasons. RVP is the one to watch from them.
The original poster said there is not much difference between both starting 11s but there is plenty of difference in the league table so they are doing something right.
this game could go either way.

MIKEY

Their squad is twice as good as ours. The league doesn't lie. If RVP hadve gone to City they would have dominated the prem for the next 5 years but it wasn't to be. We are 8 good players away from challenging

Ur completely right, we do edge it in defense, player for player its pretty even in midfield, and obviously suarez and rvp are both our stand out strikers..

The problem is tho, we could put together 10 attacks against them, but i just never feel confident about getting a goal, our passing in the final third (particularly against utd) is very predictable, and it isn't until suarez pulls sumthing out of the hat that we might actually have sum end product.

On the other hand, every time utd string 3 or 4 passes together around OUR box, i just fight myself on the edge of my seat expecting us to concede..
They are much more ruthless than us, and have quicker, more unpreditcable passing in the final third.

But lets hope at the weekend we can exploit their dodgy defense and have a controversial free game of football :)

Jak

I believe we can get a result too, but unfortunately the games played on grass not paper. The team needs to start to believe too...that's the annoying truth of the arrogant Mancs, they never lack the belief they can get a result. We are still susceptible to the odd wobble, it's been a trait for way too long....not one that made us European Champions 5 times.

What's going on at anfield. We have only signed 1 player this window the same as sunderland who signed N' Diaye today and then to sicken me altogether, hull go and sign two premiership players who I'm sure we could have at least tried to sign yo. I have been reading this website for a few years, and posted a few things over the years, it always make me laugh, come Dec/Jan & in the summer, when the transfer market is open, as to how many people post stuff like;

Do we have any interst in this player?
why don't we put a bid in for?
According to the paper we are after this player, is he any good?

we can't sign every player in the world, the only paper i read in Jan & in the summer regarding Liverpool, is the Liverpool Echo, until i see the player holding the shirt.

if we don't sign anyone else in this window, i will be happy, i know sturridge was a bit rusty at the weekend, but there was signs that he will be a quality addition to the squad, i mean he scored 8 goals in 11 appearances on loan at Bolton, and no disrespect to Bolton, but we have better players who will create more chances for him.

I have a season ticket at Anfield, so i have seen all the home games this season, and at home we have played some great stuff, but its clear all we really need is and out and out goalscorer, and i believe Sturridge COULD be that player. if you look how we line up 4-3-3, we don't really ply with wingers, and anyway are there any more out and out wingers anymore, they all want to come inside instead of taking it to the byline and getting a cross in,

I think BR has got a good understanding across to the players on how he wants to play and its slowly coming across on the pitch, but it will take time, and if we don't get anyone else this window, im sure there will be new recruits in the summer.

Steve

A well reasoned argument there friend agree with you on Sturridge, think he will do well for us...

Why mate whats Paul Ince doing regarding the move

He's basically saying he don't want him to leave Blackpool if he will not play regular 1st team football not even if Barcelona wanted him because he's becoming that good basically. He needs to get out his sons backside it's like the sun shines out of it!

London red

Paul is just trying to get Tom to reach his full potential. I believe retrurning to us will be best for him and for us.
Scouse_Pride

But he must understand when you play for a club like Liverpool you will be highlight in the world. Suarez did very well in Ajax but how many of the peopel know about him ?

The world knew about Luis Suarez when he was at Ajax! The South African World cup 2010

Mate everyone knew how good Suarez was LONG before he signed

Where have you read/heard Paul Ince saying anything about his son's transfer to LFC? I can't find anything?

Po

Suarez was good like many other player. but not highlighet best in the world. he is one of the top 4 striker in the world.

I'd like to add that in regard to Suarez, may people rated him highly at Ajax, but by no means was everyone convinced.

I argued blind on this site that Luis was a genius who we would be very lucky to have at the club - and at the time there was a consensus built against him on this site. I was in the minority.

So the retrospective 'agrees' mean little.

I also said all along that Luis is a goalscorer. At the start of this season the consensus was he would never score enough.

The retrospective 'we all knew that' is not lost on me either.

He has as many goals as RVP, and is a better player too. When RVP was his age, he had done feck all.

Most people here change their views of a player from game to game.

For the record, I had Uruguay on to win that World Cup, and Suarez and Forlan both backed to be top scorer.

That's belief (nearly happened too - and Forlan made me a few quid too)

As for Ince, he is right in many respects - but nowhere did he say Liverpool must guarantee his son first team football. That's tabloid crap - you'd think that being Liverpool fans, people would stop reading such tabloid garbage - (and that includes Sky).

Hi all....
Quaresma has signed for Al Ahli from Dubai. In my opinion if we were actually looking at him it's a disaster averted. The fact he has signed for a club from Dubai must hint that he is motivated by money and not the type of player/attitude we need playing for our club.

Wish everyone would forget about Ince moving to Anfield It's not going to happen and I for one am glad it wont! A good Championship and league cup player at best hence his valuation of 4 million by BR he is not a top priority Liverpool F.C. have better young prospects currently at their club!

Red Ron

09 Jan 2013 19:09:05
The Championship is really competitive man, the the teams at the top end are bottom 10 premiership quality.

IMO, you could take the bottom 7 or 8 from the premier league, stick em in the Championship and they wouldn't be dead certs to come straight back up, very few clubs manage that.

Different question is he good enough and consistent enough to play for a club with ambitions such as ours, but for the reported 4 million it does'nt represent a particularly big risk.

Ed..pls post this and very important...

Tom Ince father came out and said...he is not going to any side where he won't be playing week in week out..he has never said..he is gonna go to liverpool...

how arrogant is that...
Ed y are we begging for this gguy?

Fans says..KK said when selling torres...no one is bigger than our club...
we are being rubbish here...absolute awful..
who the hell does this kid think he is?

6 mill...the guys father is the most arrogant person liverpool would have ever come across...

just leave it...he won't be joining any club...UTD have plenty of wingers and no guarantee of start..
spurs, city, chelsea no one wants him...

It's easy to pass this off as arrogance and apparently PI does have form in this department but maybe he just looking out for his boys development? Sitting on the bench week in week out isn't going to further his development as a player is it. If I was in Paul Inces shoes I would be thinking the same thing. Only difference is I wouldn't be chatting on to every newspaper/media outlet in the country about it.

I understand what your saying about wanting his lad to have regular football, but I have met him a couple of times and he is up his own arsenal. A complete toolkit.

IMH

Paul Ince seems to have forgotten what he contributed to Liverpool, which quite frankly wasn't much apart from overbearing arrogance and to make the managers life hell. He was a sort of Souness without the talent or insight. For him to pontificate about his son is his right, but he's not making the lads life any easier, simply setting him up to fail. Gob shut, and let him get on with his career might be a better strategy.

09 Jan 2013 14:33:55
Could someone please shed some light on the situation of loan signings for me please? Is the rule that a premier league club can't make anymore than two loan signings all season? Or is no more than two loan signings at any one time?
The reason I ask is because I think that if Sahin is to be released from his loan and we could then add two loan signings I think we then should add, if possible, Kevin Gameiro (PSG) and Philippe Coutinho (Inter) on loan with options to buy at the end of the season.
I think both players would add extra quality to the squad and if they do well between now and the end of the season we could then buy them when the extra t.v. money and Andy Carroll money comes in.
That would probably conclude our January deals as Daniel Sturridge, Tom Ince, Kevin Gameiro and Philippe Coutinho. We would have then deffinatley strengthened and would certainly push for a top 4 place with that squad and if that was achieved that would be even more money coming in.

Kev7 {Ed002's Note - Two at a time subject to certain conditions.}

If we completed loan with option to buy deals for both gamiero and continho then id go as far as saying its been our best transfer window in a long long time

Why would Coutinho be a loan option? Inter want a sale to bring in funds so they can go into the market themselves.

09 Jan 2013 13:43:55
If sahin is to leave do you feel we will try to bring in two players on loan or maybe use freed up wages on a extra signing or will we just simply keep to two players and one loan?
Thanks, ShaneK_Lfc

Ince done with Cole out and Sturridge already in is excellent business.

Now hoping we don't loan/sell Coates as we are already short in defense. Still think we need to buy an experienced LB as back-up to Enrique.

Are we linked with any LB, eds any possibilities?

We have just bought Daniel Sturridge....he's 6ft

GLJosh

Because Barcelona get bullied all the time.
Maybe you should reconsider that position, if Liverpool reach the heights that the current Barcelona team are playing at then I'd say Brendan is doing a pretty damn good job. The premiership may be a more physical league but it does not stop teams playing good football. There is a reason that Spain and Spanish clubs have dominated football in recent years and physicality does not seem to be an issue.

Hi Ed's noticed a lot of questions over the last few months bout young Joao Texeira and why he wasn't playing much etc and spotted this quote from Frank McParland. Hope this clears it up for everyone. " One that was outstanding last year was Joao Texeira at Sporting.

We knew when we saw him he was one for us and when we got the chance to sign him the manager backed me and we spent a considerable sum on him.

The trouble was when we got to the medical his back was in a seriously bad way. We questioned going ahead with it but he was worth the risk.

He was put in a back brace for six months and after some fantastic work by the physios he is starting to play again. He is going to be a top, top player." Simonpw

I do miss him, but still enough young talent to come through to look to the future! Coady, Yesil, McLaughlin, Ibe to name but a few!

Another day another transfer story about young or low priced risky player's. We buy Downing and Borini for more than Arsenal paid for Carzola and Podolski, it makes me wonder what mess are we goin to get ourselves in to this window.Someone must be responsible for the medicore transfers.

Omg shut up.

Man you really have to give borini time he gas hardly played for us

I'm looking forward to when we play again!
Then at least we can hear you Moaning Bitching and abusing Players we HAVE got.
Not just the ones youve read about in The Beano or which ever rag!!

Someone must be responsible these clueless mediocre supporters. Previously before joining arsenal they were lining up to join a mid table non, CL team. Oh no, they were not.
Pull your heads out of your arses. Shrewd signings like sturridge are what we are aiming for until we have the pulling power of CL. How many times must this be said? Stop spitting your dummies out.
Davey Liver

09 Jan 2013 14:56:01
Would definitely had rather had Cazorla, but would he have to come to us? Not quite that simple I'm afraid, and pointless comparing now. Borini however is still only 21 and I can still see him growing into a good player, much rather have gambled on him than brought Podolski in.

GLfc

Why do people disagree with facts, we did pay more than arsenal or worse players

Really?

1)FSG have told BR he must buy young
2)LFC are not in the champions league
3)LFC are building a team for the future
4)LFC are trying to balance the wage structure

so do you really think that Sturridge, Borini, Assaidi, Allen and Yesil are bad transfers?

Downing and Borini >>>>> Podolski

Give me downing over podolski any day...

AsianRed

Stop moaning. Every club's transfer policy is hit & miss... Besides that, why are you dragging Borrini into this, he's been out with an injury & Downing's performances of late have been impressive.

Downings stats where the best in the PL when we bought him - why has he struggled? maybe the it's because the Liverpool way over the last 20 years is don't play a player in his natural position - there a large number of examples of this.

Imo its easy to compare players like this but you have to say arsenal can offer cl every year we can't thats were the top players want to go so you can offer all the money you want the team with cl will more than likely win the signature.i for 1 don't see these players tearing up the premiership. downings starting to play better and lets give borini a chance to get going and don't be so fickle.Tommy Irish Red

It's getting really boring now, this constant slating of Stewart Downing & co.

Yes we paid over-the-odds for Downing, but the likes of Cazorla & Podolski were never going to join us when Arsenal could guarantee them Champions League football.

For gods sake, quit with the moaning and move on.

Sorry Lyndon but the Beano is not a rag. Some very good stories in there!

I Apologise!!!

Podolski is poor and cazorla is overrated.

No so much a rumour but I for one would love to see us add Walcott to our front line. Young, pacey and even a fan. I know the 95k a week maybe a stumbling block but surely we could be hinting to his representitives that we'll take him for free in the summer or on the cheap in Jan if he doesnt sign. Despite wht our plastic fans think, we are on the up, with a good long term strategy in place. Walcott would be great to help us progress further

Do players want to sit around and wait for this long term plan to come into place?
Or do they want to go to teams who are winning right now with their plan? :/

Well Michael Owen left and the next season we won the champions league. Andy carroll, hendo, adam, cole plus the rest all came to us and won the league cup last year and fa cup finalsists. So that jogs all over that statement

FA cup finalists? Who cares, in a year or two no one will remember that, and our players will only be worried about when our next cup is coming, it took us 6 years to win the League cup last season!

If your a true fan i won't need to explain this next statement ;
'If you are first you are first. If you are second you are nothing'

People said we were amazing with the team of alonso, gerrard, mascherano, Torres. Yet that team and amazing quartet won us absolutely nothing. Zero.

Funny that everyone seems to be playing for 4th these days.

So when would you be happy then? If we won the league you'd just say well it'll be forgotton when the new season starts. You've obviously forgot we are current League cup holder, yeah we runners up but out of all of the losers in the competition we were the best!!
I bet your the type who keeps harping on about Marquee signings and big name players. The club makes people into legends

Disagree I don't see the point of buying both Sturridge and Walcott both similar players wanting to play that central role, I think Thomas Ince although some fans think he will be a poor signing I feel he can be a great squad player

Walcott has stated he prefers the central striker role! he has been on form for arsenal when he has played there but when hes pushed out wide hes average. so you want us to sign him to play with sturridge who prefers that role also and then push suarez out wide? Eds, correct me if im wrong as im commenting on a subject i know little about, but to me all of this talk about FSG not going for certain players because they are lowering the wage structure doesnt make sense!
they payed cole off, sahin fee and wages, sterling new contract, sturridge deal, ince deal on the cards and another possible loan deal, oh and wisdoms just signed a new contract. Surely this had added to it considerably?

JOZLFC {Ed001's Note - the idea was to pay players a wage which they deserve, rather than just lowering the wage bill per se. We had a lot of poor players being paid the wages a top class player should command. That is what is being changed.}

The sooner it happens the better ed {Ed001's Note - I agree completely. It is how a club should be run, the better you play, the more you earn, though it is not always like that in practice. Mind it is very rarely like that in any walk of life.}

I normally avoid grammar as a topic, but the substitution of 'v' for 'we' drives me a bit mad. Is that really necessary? It's only one extra letter!

^ He was injured for most of that time! And how long did it take him to score his debut goal for us! And what kind of shout is "See my face...buddy...? This is a football banter site not a dating site! And if he did see your face he'd probably feel sorry for you! As judging the grammar and spelling in your post you don't seem very bright!

I think he uses a 'v' as he is Russian, and he likes to incorporate his accent into his posts.

Another youngster signs long term deal at Liverpool Andre Wisdom has just signed a new long term deal believed to be 5 and a half years.

Something must be good at liverpool then for all these player signing extensions .

The talks of Jack Butland seem to have gone quiet - does this mean its not going to happen.

09 Jan 2013 12:10:26
He's not that good anyway. We should be looking at the two young german keepers, ter stegan and ron-robert zieler. The keeper situation can wait 'till the summer though. We need the money for other areas at the moment.

09 Jan 2013 10:46:24
ed..great site..and great work..

we should never release a player...and if we does so...we should put a clause...no blackpool...

09 Jan 2013 12:27:31
Young players get released from every club all the time for lots of different reasons, man utd released Peter Beardsley years ago. Ince at the time WAS offered a contract but his father advised him to go elsewhere and play first team football, as at the time the youngsters weren't really getting a crack at the first team, so he didn't sign and left.
Since then we have had a new manager come in with a different scouting team who have been watching this young player in terrific form who they also think will fit in with the system and style that we now play. In their eyes its a talented young player who they won't have to pay out a fortune for (Zaha, plus Ince is twice the player) and a player who already knows the area well and knows the club well and probably wouldn't take a lot to settle in and wants to prove himself at the club.
Personally I think it could be a good signing and think that he could make an immediate impact for probably £3.5m and not huge wages. I don't understand all the negativity that this transfer is getting. I think there's some people who just want any excuse to have a go at the club and the owners.

09 Jan 2013 10:45:11
I do not get the moaning about Ince. His contract was coming to an end, he was not playing enough and so the club made the best of the situation by inserting a 35% sell on clause. By leaving the club to gain experience Ince has shown hunger and determination. Just as importantly he has shown that he wants to return to us. He has given some outstanding performances, goals and assist for Blackpool. At a cost to us of about £3.5m we are buying him back and he will strengthen our options on the wing. There is very little downside to this deal. If he continues to develop as he has done over the last 18 months he will be a very very good asset on the wing for the team. If he is unable to make the first team breakthrough he has shown enough in the championship to have a sell on value which will mean we are not out of pocket.. Reality Red

09 Jan 2013 12:05:49
And also its a talented young player who's in great form who already knows the area, knows the club inside out and already knows most of the lads so really should be able to come and slot straight in without having to settle in and all that.

Is a sell on - the same as a buy back?

If he was developing excelently and you are and were very optimistic...why on earth did you release him?
were people nuts? when they released him?

Very well said lets hope we don't pay anymore then whT you qouted though. We don't want to stunt the growth of some up and coming players like ibe and sinclair. Also if walcott is available for £6-10 mil i would go for him instead, proven assists and goal scorer in the premier league. RedTurk

It was a joy to watch the under 19s last night in the NextGen series against the current holders Inter Milan. The 4:1 score line reflected our lads superiority. A few observations. (1) The under 19s are playing to the same blue print as the first team. (2) The club has managed to put together an under 19s team of strong lads (stereotypically British) but with pace, skill and ability. (3) All four defenders were immaculate and defended as a unit with the full backs bombing forward at every opportunity with loads of pace and skill. As others have said, we are unlikely to need to sign a full back for the next 10 years at least such is the depth of talent coming through in these positions. McLaughlin was outstanding and made 3 assists (4) Offensively the team was full of players with skill, pace and courage to get on the ball. (5) Conor Cody continues to show that he might just turn into a Stevie G MKII. A period on loan at a championship team would do him the world of good. (6) Jordan Ibe deserves special mention. He is only just 17 but was again outstanding. He is similar to Sterling but with a stronger build. He has great vision, pace, an eye for a killer pace and it is only a matter of time before he makes the breakthrough. (7) The age group below the under 19s are said to be of an even better quality. A young lad aged 16 called Jordan Rossiter made a brief appearance for his under 19 debut. Remember the name! The academy is beginning to produce quality in abundance. Some from a young age whilst others like Sterling and Ibe have been spotted and snapped up (whoever is responsible for signing these to knows what he is doing). Reality Red

Nice post!

LFC_SA

I agree our youth teams are brilliant, especially considering the likes of sterling, suso and wisdom could also be eligable had they not been in the first team, and morgan had he not went on loan. I didn't think that we would see the benefits for about another 4-5 years but with the quality coming through it may be much sooner.

Conor Coady is a mystery to me. Whether he will make it or not seems to garner divided opinion on this site. Ed001, you think he will make it? Coz imo he does not seem to be part of Rodger's plans.

Hi eds n reds, just back in Ireland after watching our young lads play some exceptional football last nite. I brought my 7yr old son to his first game. Needless to say he was delighted and couldn't wait for school to tell all his pals ha ha. Very impressive display by all our lads esp Ibe, Yesil and McLaughlin and the young lad in central defense sokolik. Gr8 bunch of lads coming through throughout the youth set up at all levels and gr8 to see them all playing in the same style as 1st team. The future looks very promising indeed. Also a big shout out to Alex Inglethorpe who has carried on the exceptinal work. You can't really argue with a 100% record so well done sir. Can't wait to see can our u21 lads progress through the elite stage in the same manner. Exciting season for me at all levels. Finally I can see us getting a win on Sun at OT to kick start 2nd half of our season, YNWA Simonpw

Feel sad Eds to see you guys pasting same info on players on different post again and again.

I do a search for 'Ed0' and read everything you guys have to say about a possible transfer or a particular player.
It saves hell lot of my time specially, when I'm following it from office as well ;)

Just a suggestion to save your time repasting your opinions, Is it possible for you guys to tweak your page such a way that you'll have a 'STATIC' section right on top with players name and your opinion on it. Only those players who are currently trending in terms of people asking your opinion on them.

Only if it's Static, people will be able to take most advantage of it and there by less stress for you to repaste same replies.

watched the kids allmost every game this season and jordan ibe even at 16 is much the better player than ince and much stronger in stature so please use the reported 4-6 million else where

Ince has been brilliant for blackpool playing in a far harder league than the youth do so no matter how good Ibe has been playing against kids they can not be compared

For me Ibe is going to be better than Ince and possibly Sterling. He has pace, good touch, shooting ability, good feet and seems to destroy every fullback he comes up against. Really impressed with him so far!

When you look at Sinclair, McLaughlin, Texeira, Smith and a few others that will in my opinion break into the first team its looking very good for Liverpool. Robbie Fowler also tweeted to say we have the next Stevie G, a young boy called Jordan Rossiter. A few Quality additions in the next two transfer windows and we will be strong for the next ten years.

I am not the one with coach badge or a pro but couple of suggestions? Does anyone second this opinion:

1) I think Wisdom is more suited for CB than RB even more so the way BR wants his team to play. Imagine Wisdom and Skrtel as CBs. Adds more strength in defence.

2) Agger as CDM. He reads game well, got decent dribbling skills while going forward, strong in tackle, good body strength..probably lacks ball distribution in forward play but can be really good cover as CDM.

3) Robinson as LB. This guy has been impressive this season every time I watched him play. His strength defies his structure. He has been good going forward. Needs game time to get confidence and experience.

4) Suso should always be played in CM role whenever given a chance. I think he has got that creativity like Silva, Mata, Wilshere etc...A player who constantly keeps moving all over the opposition half with through balls, One-Twos, little Chip overs etc..he has got skill, nimble feet, draws fouls near the D...He is future CAM.

Cheers!

Indian with Red Heart

Whats with this 'cheers' after every post lol, you guys are cracked! RedTurk

Wisdom and Sama would make a great CB pair

My opinion,

1) if it aint broke, don't fix it. Skrtel n Agger work well together

2) same as 1, Lucas is fine there. n btw Agger is great with his feet, i have seen passes from him straight to a one on one with the keeper, he definite does not lack ball distribution.

3) yet to see enough of Robbo to comment.

4) your probably right, he is definitely a CAM, but i don't think you could simply come in n play when other CMs r on form too. plus wherever he is playing now, it is valuable experience for him. being able to play in a few positions is why he is so good..

Kaizer

09 Jan 2013 11:23:21
Totally agree. Suso should be handed the no. 10 shirt and played as CAM as well. He is very similar to Isco and I have a feeling he will win the Balon d'Or some day

EdurificAzy

Completely agree re: Wisdom.
IMHO hes not got the pace for RB. (Was ripped a few months back and taken off at half time - can't remember the opposition though). He's defo a CB.

I'm hoping Rodgers plays Robbo as LB against ManU - with Johnson RB. Can see both of them taking care of Giggs, Valencia, Nani or anyone else they throw on the wings to face us.

As for Suso - sorry but I just don't see what the lad's got to offer. I see everyone declaring his "quality" but I'm yet to see whats so special. Hendo gets my vote before Suso.

I agree with most of what you say but Robinson isn't ready for a regular spot in the first team yet his positional sense isn't quite there and a loan is desperately needed for him. And agger has all the attributes to play there but I don't think he is quite mobile enough to get around the pitch and lucas when fully fit is the best option we have.

It's an old Liverpool expression cheers mean's thanks

Dav

Ye noticed that meself

cheers!

The return of RedTurk. Cheers [FR]

People really do misunderstand that playing as a holding midfielder is so much different than playing as a center half.
You have far less time on the ball (roughly about 3 seconds from recieving it),
You have to have good movement to find space so you can turn,
You literally have to know where your team mates are before you receive the ball or else you slow the move down.
You also have to face so many different dillemas such as when to go forward or sit, whether to anticipate a pass or not etc.
You do have much more freedom though that you don't get at cb and playing with the players agger is playing with he should get the ball, however it is pointless changing his position when we already have good cover in cm, don't you think ?
derryred

Wisdom was ripped against Everton, Kevin Mirallas.....

We went to 3 at the back in the secon half.....

So redburk is moaning about people saying cheers? Clearly delusional, redburk has never been thanked in it's life, hence not being familiar with 'cheers'. As it is currently employed as a crash test dummy for Skoda, redburk finds basic human communication difficult due to the many blows to the head. One day it will relaise it's dream of walking on the moon without a spacesuit. Incidently, redburk can only be harmed by domestos, being fully germified

1) Wisdom is quite lucky he's played so well at full back, because he's have a hell of a job getting Agger or Skrtel out.

2) Agger at CDM is a square peg in a round hole, he may be okay there, but he won't play the role as well as some of the natural CDMs we have.

3) RedTurk is sad because nobodys ever thanked him for anything!

Very disappointed to hear Sahin may be leaving he's obviously a very talented player and better than Allen. If only he'd been given the same sort of game time I'm sure he'd have shown his class.
We still need a no.10 and I think we should get Turan for that role

Allen from past 20 games has been awful than shelvey

Allen is about 700 minutes of football behind some top defensive midfielders, yet he has still won possession more times than any other player in the league, and averages giving it away only something like once every 30 minutes..

Your point is not valid. He is 22 years old. Cut him some slack.

Is it just me or are we becoming a laughing stock when it comes to transfers? I mean we spent over £60 million on aqualani and Carroll who were both injured at time of signing, it looks like we paid a £4m fee plus wages for sahin who has lasted 6 months and now we are looking at paying £4-6m for a player we sold for £250k, this is on top of all the over priced players that have not performed. Surely we cannot continue to run our business in this way it's slightly embarrassing oh and I forgot the stupid amounts of money joe cole has cost us. Sorry to moan but every time I think of our activity in transfer windows it makes me cringe!

Somerset red

You win some, you lose some. That's football transfers. We are no worse than a lot of teams. Stop moaning and enjoy the ones who are successful. Anyone would think you paid for them...

ND

OK. We actually made money on the Carroll transaction.
Aquilani was signed 3 managers ago, time to move on.
Our new manager can use Ince better than previous managers, obviously he thinks so anyway.
Suarez - bargain
Henderson - will prove himself
Allen - despite the clueless mans remarks, he's an absolutely brilliant player.
Borini - good player.
Sturridge - very good signing
You - please stop complaining...

Red7.

How much did aqua cost in the world you live in.

KUMBER

Every team has made blunders in the transfer market, just to highlight a few off the top of my head

Arsenal: Reyes, Chamakh, Gervinho
Aston Villa: Bent, N'zogbia
Man U: Veron, Djemba Djemba, Kleberson, Berbatov (based on price bought for 30mil for sold for 5)
Man City: Robinho, Santa Cruz, Adeybayor
Chelsea: Torres, Shevchenko, Crespo

Liverpool have made plenty of mistakes but they have also signed some really good players. Lets hope they have learned from those mistakes and we will move forward.

Also one key bit of transfer activity LFC are doing is buying the best young talent from around the world. Our U19 and U21's are brilliant and this in the long term will save in the transfer market.

Point being its common for teams to get transfers wrong and that we have been doing alot of good work if you look at the bigger picture.

K-Man

Mate reyes was great for arsenal and only in his late teens or early 20's when he left for spain again, which in my view ruined his career.

If it's true we've signed nice for around 6mil ish (something I am quite pleased about however) how come we didn't wait til the summer to get him on a free and use the 6 mil for Aubameyang as thats the figure being spouted by St. Etienne. As I said I'm not unhappy with getting Ince but seems a shame we couldn't wait and save the money, because as everyone knows we don't have endless funds. Sam

I think ince is an improvement on either sterling or downing at the moment, so a front 3 of suarez sturridge and ince might just give us that extra push to try and sneak into 4th. plus it dosnt really show that were that keen if we wait until hes free, then he can go anywhere and a lot more teams might be intrested in the summer

Every top team will want to snap him up for free in the summer then the same moaners will be moaning why didnt we buy him in january bcoz he ends up at arsenal or man utd

Cant win

13 assists and 10 goals in 20 odd games says enough

mclaughlin fast with vision.
ibe this kid is special he has it all.
sinclair same story.
in the nexgen series they up against the best in europe, we have a few players that are the real deal.
we all talk about new players coming in and wagebill ect ect.
we should be talking about positions in the first team when we want a new player.
none off these youngsters is ready yet will be in 2/3 years time.
i am 100% sure that ibe will be in the first team in 2/3 years time.
all we really need is a cb to replace carra/lb as a back up and a midfielder in the mold off erikson.
we have a bright future ahead.

Look it doesn't always work like that in afraid? I live in london, I know we beat inter 4−1 and yes what a result! but let me use spurs as an example, only cause I know a fee people at the club! they beat inter 7−1 last term and beat barcelona. away 4−1 this year! they then let a few of their players go out on loan or are promoted to their development squad! their next gen team under strength may I add sites third just like our team! I think we would do well to send a few of ours out on loan or promote to our development squad?

We don't need a lb nor a cb, however i am all for a midfielder in the mould of erikson.

So let me get this straight....if yours get beat ( you have already conceded a penalty and a red card apparently) it's the conspiracy between sir Alex, fa and Webb. If yous win, yous have overcome the odds of sir Alex, fa and Webb conspiring to beat yous, this making yous lot a 'brilliant' team. God, talk about scraping the barrel! P.S there is a conspiracy page to post your drivel

Conspire

Sorry mate your keyboard must be different to mine, don't understand any of this.

Leeb7red

It was recently discussed that most officials, let alone Howard Webb, do not
entertain complaining about Fergie. Why ? Because he will ensure that whoever complains will not officiate at Old Trafford in the near future. This came from Grahame Poll ! Why do you think there was no action against Fergie after the Newcastle outburst ?

Just for the record, Howard Webb has awarded more penalties to United than any other team.

So, with the above in mind, I suggest you go back to your own site and talk drivel on there.....

And why are you on here ? i wonder what classics old whisky nose will come out with this week, senility is setting in. as for webb, go and look at his stats involving the mancs, slightly disturbing

I don't think it's so much a conspiracy theory. More an observation that Howard Webb and Phil Dowd, both, are scared s***less of Old Man Ferguson and if we escape without incident, it'll be more out of luck, in that Webb grew a set. Rather than overcoming a great conspiracy.

He conspire, you a little confused, all you have to do is watch the last match, Mancs need all the help they can get, Ref first, red card followed by a penalty...otherwise you would loose fairly!

BR has got all individual players in the squad playing much better - hopefully he can do this with Sahin & Borini coming back from their injuries.

Reds fans a quick gamble on how many goals you think Sturridge will score in the premier league for the remainder of the season?

Im going for 11, but i believe he will score us 20 plus a goals a season in all competitions next season.

Going on some of the last English signings about 2... they will been in cup comps.. Hope he proves me wrong time is on his side..

Hey ed's this may be a stupid question, but a couple of people I know were wondering. How does a team qualify for the NextGen series or do they just apply? {Ed001's Note - they are invited.}

08 Jan 2013 23:59:56
Just my personal opinion,

Thomas Ince, We've been trying to get a deal with for the past few weeks as Macca has told us,

What I think however is why spend potentially £6m on Ince when we have Jordan Ibe in the Youth Set up

Obviously we need to be careful with Ibe, he is still extremely young and perhaps not physically developed as much as the backroom would like but my argument is:

a)he is just as equally unproven at premiership level

b)he's been progressing immensely in the youth set up - tonight vs Inter Milan (4-1) was a prime example

and c)having progressed Suso, Wisdom and Sterling etc to the first team this year and seen the impression they made surely we are better off allowing Ibe this chance too. I for one think he could prove to be a great addition to support our front line options. Finally i think that if we do bring Ince in, we may get a decent player and it could turn out a good deal but we are placing an extra player with not much more experiance at the highest level, infront of younger players like Ibe who are arguably showing potential which could surpass Ince's level

Just sharing my view on things - if we have such talented youngsters we should at least look there first before buying players (unless we wish to bring in an experianced player e.g. 26 years +)

SR

But ince could come be great increase his value and when ibe is ready for the the first team sell ince for 12 to 15 mill not bad bit of buisness ibe will be a lot better player

I'm sure with us competing on 4 fronts every season Jordon will get his chance. Competition is healthy, and a 6 million signing from Blackpool is hardly undroppable if Ibe forces his way into the team, whereas a 29/30 year old would be less likely to be dropped for a youngster. It looks like we're trying to emulate the German national team and build a team of young players to grow up together and be stronger for it - Sturridge, Sterling, Ibe, Texeira, Allen, Henderson, Shelvey, Wisdom, Suso, Sinclair, Morgan and Ince if he joins all under 23.

Red Ollie {Ed001's Note - Ince might not be undroppable, but he is not going to miss out just to give a youngster a run out. There is just no need for Ince, it is a pointless signing when we have other more urgent needs. Such as a top rank keeper, to either push Reina back to top form or replace him, a centre back to replace Carragher, and a defensive midfielder to cover Lucas.}

Cause one player in each position just won't work
JJ

Sell ince before we have even bought him blimey what if he turns out to be brilliant will you still want to sell him then

RED KENNY

And an out and out striker....
cant understand whats BR thinking on ince..
he has laready wasted 15 mill on allen..and 11 on borini..I am aware he is injured...but was he not subbed 8 times when he played for 11 times for us in this season..and scored 1 goal..
and strange people think he is gonna back straight from injury and bang goals..straight, left and right..
he too is for future..
i don't know when will we have a good present...
we are loosing our position to teams season in season out...neither we are attracting best talent..
we cannot simply excuse ourself by future set up..
no top player will join us looking at our academy...
no top 4 this season...
and how are we gonna replace luis suarez coming summer?
40 mill does not buy players wishes and mind...

With Ince set to arrive I've decided to review all the signings Liverpool have made since FSG have come in:

Suarez - success
Carroll - failure
Henderson - jury still out
Doni - failure
Adam - failure
Downing - jury still out
Enrique - success
Coates - failure
Bellamy - success
Borini - jury still out
Allen - jury still out
Assaidi - failure
Sahin - failure
Sturridge - too soon to tell

Irishdom15 {Ed003's Note - very good of you thanks}

What a fud.

Assaidi is going to make you eat those words. He only wasn't playing as he had a knee injury and is now at the african cup of nations

Assaidi looks decent and didn't get a fair crack at the whip yet. Jury still out for me. Coates Much the same

How is Assaidi a failure? He played well in a couple of appearances. Jury is still out on Coates and Sahin. The rest I'll give you.

And your point is exactly? Seems 'jury still out' rules so far.

ND

Irishdom15 the jury is back in, you are guilty of being a fool.

Assaidi and Coates have not been given a proper run yet. If we lose these two we'll be sad, sad and sadder! Assaidi is already far better than Ince (from what I've seen) and Coates is a young defender who needs matches.
Mad...

No way is Coates a failure
