Have to say there are lot of hypocrites here.

There is only one way to judge BR this season. on the results.

Not on how we play, who he alienates, what he says, if he learns from his mistakes, if he tries his best, not on how much he spent on transfers, not on how much salary does LFC pay etc.

Everyone knows that he was given the benefit of doubt last season and the owners also took into account the fact that the season before he has done so well, he was allowed last season's fiasco for reasons they would have definitely discussed in season review.

This season if he doesn't get the results he is gone. So let him do his job and let us support our players and team.

I am expecting contention for top four, a trophy and at least semi finals of Europa. That would be my expectations. I don't know what objectives he has been given by FSG!!

You have high hopes for someone who doesn't want to play to the strengths of the team!
We all support LFC doesn't mean we have to like Brendan.
If he's still here next season, and where in the EXACT same situation. Would you still give him a chance?
I know it's your opinion but don't get annoyed with people's who differ from yours!

What's hypocritical about wanting BR to learn from his mistakes and stop alienating players?

Because he's already proved that he can have one good season and then undo the good work of that season inside a couple of months, which is kind of problematic for the club's medium and long term prospects. So you'll have to excuse me, or anyone else for that matter, if we're hoping to see more than just an improvement in results over a single season, and actually want to have some confidence that he's not going to repeat the same mistakes that saw him destroy his last good season almost immediately.

And even if I'm wrong about wanting to see our manager improve and develop (which I'm not), I still don't why you think it's hypocrisy. I'd be putting unfair expectations on the manager, but that's not actually hypocrisy, is it? Do you know what the word "hypocrite" actually means?

Finally, if we do just boil it down to pure results, then "in contention for the top 4" isn't enough, we have to finish in the top 4 for him to have any chance of keeping his job, imo. He's had enough time and enough backing that I don't think it at all unreasonable to finish in the top 4.

@Kopette9 : I am not supporting BR for the heck of it, nor am I making any excuses for the disastrous last season. If the owners would have decided to fire him then I would have understood.

What I am trying to point out is the hypocrisy here.

a) people are saying a great manager is someone who punches above their weight. Did we not do that 2 seasons back, when i know for a fact that on this forum the most that we expected that season was top 4.

b) Some people are saying 2 seasons back he didn't manage well, we shined only because we had Suarez but people are forgetting that we played even when he was banned, SG was nominee for the player of the season, Skertel scored most goals for a defender and Sterling was the rising star of the League. So he gets no credit for success but all the blame for the failures. Why the double standards?

People have said that the system BR used was suggested by some other coach (Biesla?). People are given suggestions all the time, in fact if you open up google and you will get tips for everything from being healthy to becoming rich. If everybody was able to implement what has been suggested, it would be a different world.

c) People want exciting football, solid defense, youth players, trophies, top 4 , BR should speak less, travel more, get along with all players, apologize for his mistakes, learn from his mistakes, keep his promises, keep all players happy even those not getting games, Lucas should be the first name on the team sheet but no player should be a guaranteed starter!

Let us be a little patient, the season has just started.

Judge the manager and the team on the results.

This season he has got the players he wanted and more importantly not forced players he did not want. He support staff has been revamped. So he has no excuses and will be let go if he doesn't meet his targets.

It is not us fans vs BR vs the world. It should be LFC vs the world. don't let us bring down our own team.

14 Aug 2015 19:17:57
So you claim that subjectivity on judging a person is by results. Then claim that BR can only stay if he contends top 4 (note contention doesn't mean achieve) a trophy and Europa league semi finals.
All of which are subjective to your own opinion. So in essence what you said was,''every one is a hypocrite for personal expectations, here's my expectations, these are the correct ones. If you don't agree you're a hypocrite. Pot Kettle Black mate.''

14 Aug 2015 19:34:25
How can you support Lfc but not the manager? Its just nonsense and dooming the team and club to failure. If he isn't good enough it will soon show, then it is up to the owners as it was last season. You can't blame Rodgers because he is still there. That much cannot be argued.

14 Aug 2015 19:56:49
@Bob. what I gave were my own expectations. I don't know what has been given by FSG , so can't say if he will stay or not.

I agree that everyone has their own expectations but you can't really expect one person to meet all of them.

At the end of the day you should see the results and decide.

People should give the scathing criticism little rest. I mean we win on Sunday and on Monday this forum is alight with some new character flaw of BR.

Allen didn't even play and there are posts bashing him. Milner works his ass of but he is not needed and Lallana should be sold according to some people.

See it may look like I am a blind supporter of BR , I am not. But post after post here just bashing him for hundred different things. Is he paying FSG to manage or vice versa.

I know once we get few good results in, things will change around here. So have some faith please.

14 Aug 2015 20:22:31
What you fail to understand pank is that all of the criticisms you say that don't count contribute to his performance as a manager and ergo the teams results. I don't see one without the other, if he leaves out said player for whatever reason and plays another in his place out of position and we then lose does that mean we should only judge the result and not the underlying ineptness of the manager.

So if that ineptness leads to a season of underachievement it should be ignored because its only the results that count. Your argument is flawed i'm afraid.

Most of the criticsm while sometimes manifested in a purile way is actually sometimes deserved, sometimes not i agree. Hypocrisy, no my friend it based solely on my part from past performance and evidenced by both results and decisions made by the man which have baffled and continue to do so.

14 Aug 2015 20:34:01
My own expectations are good football, not ruining the club financially selling youth players for f all, alienating players and causing discord and to challenge for the title and every cup.

but because you disagree that makes me a hypocrite? I think you need to learn what that word means.

14 Aug 2015 21:35:49
We have only played one game!! We won too!!

BR is the manager and the team is what we have, I can only see outgoings now for this window.

That's the situation and let's just see what happens, I don't really care to much about anything other than us winning games and I support the team because that's what we have.

Don't waste time on discussing us failing and sacking the manager yet, we only just got started.

14 Aug 2015 23:17:22
I just don't like the man is that a problem? I don't mind being a realist but any fan who says we should be challenging for top 4 should be supporting someone else. how long before we become Stoke etc and be aiming for top 10. go back to bed mate.

15 Aug 2015 00:08:26
Pank, I suggest you go learn how to debate your points because the hypocrisy and contradictory nature of your posts and opinion is deafening. BR has proven to be aweful and has a dreadful European record, spent more than any other manger in club history in three years without a sausage to his name. With those results, it's fair to say he is a failure. What do your results say?

15 Aug 2015 05:44:19
@ redohio : My results say that he had one ok season, one very good season and one very bad. did he deserve this season, maybe idk but FSG definitely thought so.

PS : Klopp didn't even want the Liverpool job, Biesla was still employed at that time. Iam sure if someone good was really available BR would have been replaced.

But now that he is still here, give him a breaK!!

15 Aug 2015 07:19:35
Thank you for your positivity pankaj! We all might not share your thoughts but I always like to see a healthy debate and some positivity amongst all this "anguish."

15 Aug 2015 09:28:16
Thanks EMAN.

Lets hope the faith is not misplaced and we get the 3 points this Monday.

16 Aug 2015 14:04:27
Still a failure overall and why should I give him a break where based on the first game, his selection and tactics, he has learnt NOTHING regardless of the win? He's still treating players he doesn't rate disgracefully and his team selection is still crap so AGAIN, why should I give him a break?
