So tonight all Liverpool fans should be cheering for Odds BK, MSK Zilina, FK Jablonec and FK Rabotnicki. Because all we need is for three of Dortmund, Bilbao, Ajax and Rubin Kazan to get knocked out and we won't be in Pot 2 for the draw. Come on you lot! I wanna hear those team names in a scouse accent. :)

Just to keep this thread going,I don't thinkI would mind Ajax, they aren't the powerhouse they were, infact they're nowhere near it. I don't even like their brand of football any more it's not creative or inventive, and for me they lack a real attacking threat in tougher games.
Bilbao prsent a tough game and are usually disciplined as a side. I haven't watched them a lot recently though but there form last year took a slump, they seem to be up and down a lot like us.
Rubin I would like to avoid, they're just gritty opponents and when I've watched them in Europe they tend to have played dirty.
Dortmund I of course would avoid.

What will be interesting is if BR puts out his strongest side or plays a 50/50

For me it's I think we should show faith in our youngsters/ressies,Rossiter,bogdan,Chirivella,Origi,Ings,Ilori etc.

What I will also say is it would be good to really attack the wings Markovic made the UEFA 11 for this comp 2 years ago,we should give him the freeedom to express himself in a forward role to really attack rather than play him wingback. I would do this with Ibe too,I know we're only 3 games in but he's been isolated in the prem a lot and marked by 2 people cosntantly, then thrust on when we've had our back to the wall. Give him a chance to play freely and attack again. He and Markovic may pick up confidence against teams from smaller coutnries across europe who might pose easier challenges than the prem league rivals. It's also a chance to do this in front of a somewhat smaller audience to ease off the burden

haha, somebody disagrees? So does somebody want us in Pot 2 or does somebody just not fancy hearing 'Rabotnicki' in a scouse accent? ;)

I'd actually prefer being in pot 2 and facing more difficult teams. I'd much rather Dortmund visiting Anfield than Odds BK.

Tbh i would not be unduly worried to face any of those teams. If we are serious about winning it they will have to be beaten at some point so the earlier the better as far as i'm concerned.

If the players really want it i don't see why they couldn't get themselves up for a big european game. There is certainly enough talent in the squad to beat any of those teams.

I really don't care if we are in Pot 3. We have enough quality to get through any group IF we are planning to take the competition seriously.
After the shambles of the Champions League last year chances are we wont.
Funny though as we spend all the season trying to get Europe and when we do we use it to experiment which is why we are seeded so badly

Everyone will want to avoid us in pot 2, let's remember that.

Yeah I agree with the others. I think we play better against better teams. Obviously not the very top teams in Europe but they're in the champions league.
I think we struggle to get up for the lesser known teams.

the competition in its current format cannot be taken seriously.
its a joke and needs re-vamping.
the group stages are a joke - with extensive and often pointless journeys. and far too many teams taking part. not to mention the idiocy of the champions league teams parachuting in! crazy!
who thought up this nonsense.

Yeah think allowing failed Champions League teams in is just daft - devalues the competition.
