Reading the thread below on players from the 70s and 80s I've just read an absurd fact . Phil Neal played a game for LFC on 23 October 1976 then started the next 417 matches until late September 1983. A lot of these matches would of been played on pitches resembling ploughed fields not the bowling greens of today. So next time you hear of any player complaining of feeling tired and needing a rest just point this fact out to them.

417 is an exceptional amount that would require a player to never so much as stub their toe or get the flu at an inconvenient time in an 8 year period. So can only say well done to Phil on that.

But I'm certain the lads we have with good injury records could play every game in a season if required. (Whether it's the best idea if your rivals are rotating and are fresher near the end of the season is another matter)

Actually in 18/ 19, Salah, Mane, Robbo and van Dijk played nearly every game, each having 48 or more starts out of 53 games (ditto Alisson, but it's a bit different for keepers) . Add in sub appearances and the only time Salah didn't play at all that season was against Barcelona cos he was concussed. So it is possible for some modern footballers to do that without their legs falling off.

Left back, right back, and I think he covered midfield and maybe even centre defence during that spell too.
As well as taking penalties.
Absolutely cracking player, that goes under the radar a bit these days.
