Hi Ed002, I like that Mike Gordon has resumed his Liverpool role. With FSG seemingly staying, I think this is good news for stability behind the scenes.

I stand by what I said earlier about being behind FSG to now but they really need to deliver on player investment this Summer. I have a feeling they might just deliver.

My question is this though, it's been suggested that Mike Gordon was heavily involved in seeking investment and that his return to his full duties at liverpool suggests minor investment is very close to being secured. Do you see it that way or are the two very unrelated?

{Ed002's Note - I am not so sure that the assumption that investment in FSG are close. They want to sell the club for an amount which will see them able to take on their next project. That has not been viable. so they will need to borrow a huge amount and contribute what they can. Money will be available in the summer I am sure but I would not read too much into the Gordon situation as I expect him to be gone before too long.}

Cheers Ed. We really need to get a handle on the structure behind the scenes one way or another and quickly.

Interesting that Cardinale said that Gordon wanted to sell his stake in FSG and retire. Which JWH then rebuked in his interview.

Why are UTD more in demand than LFC, considering how well structured, run and successful we are compared to them, not to mention the price of LFC is apparently less than Manutd.

Are FSG asking for too much? Are the PSG owners hoping to sell PSG and eventually own LFC entirely?

We are one of the best run clubs in the world, with the best managers in the world, which i would have thought would make us a real catch for some mega wealthy people.

Its because MU have a bigger fanbase worldwide. Wouldn't surprise me if the unsuccessful parties in buying MU look at investment in LFC thereafter. LFC have recently (last 30 years) been the underdog in the rivalry with MU due to money and personally I kinda like it. This means more and all that jazz.

Especially when we beat them 7-0.

I remember reading some statistics some 3-4 years ago and I doubt very much that it would have changed that much, now. Liverpool supposedly had the greater number of supporters (above ManU) in the UK (therefore being the most supported club within the country), but if you looked globally, then ManU's international popularity is 2 times or even 3 times that of Liverpool. And it's not surprising, because they have been putting in massive efforts in creating commercial relationships in countries and regions for a few decades, and a massive infrastructure for the fanbase. Go to any country in the World and there will be a local ManU supporters club with direct links back to Old Trafford; the numbers are mind boggling. And their network of local ManU bars all over the world is just as impressive, they're everwhere. I've seen the one in Hong Kong. There's even one in New Delhi; in a country where cricket squashes football in popularity. Slowly planting seeds over decades, everywhere, has given ManU the harvest they have.

At the level we are talking about, People buy clubs either as a conduit into (regional) markets that they can’t readily access otherwise, as a status symbol or to make money. The last one usually means yo buy a club with a substantial growth potential, like we were for FSG or because there is a massive fan base with revenue streams galore - like United.

By and large the state of the team isn’t really that important.

Silicon Valley Banking an american bank has gone bust, this could have serious financial repercussions with FSG, if they are involved business wise with them?
