Romano reporting Chelsea met with Monaco yesterday to discuss Camara.

Any update VG? Really want this one to happen, he's exactly what we need.

5

28 Aug 2026 13:03:45
I think VG suggested it was Monaco trying to create an auction rather than getting screwed on price at the end of the window.

28 Aug 2026 13:27:46
We don't really need Camara, we just need better positioning of our double pivots. Prime Macca, Szobo, Grav, Nyoni and a floating Jacquet are one of the best mids in EPL. And we wanna let Nyoni develop, no?

1

28 Aug 2026 13:31:40
Of course we need a good all round MF since we will
lose Jones, Endo, Elliott and hopefully Macca.

28 Aug 2026 13:32:30
If we're not giving much thought to Romano when it comes to Liverpool news, should we also not give him much thought when sharing Chelsea news!?

Anyways, I still think the fix for some of our midfield is simple. But it may take time as it requires multiple players being on same page.

1-Grav, Dom and Flo need to sacrifice at certain points to allow the others to thrive up the pitch.
2-fullbacks need to switch on to cover central areas when CMs have pushed up.
3- If the gap remains in midfield, CBs need to be higher and quicker to close the gap and stop a counter before it develops.

1

28 Aug 2026 12:26:15
Surely the Trent return that seems to be on a lot of media outlets is untrue? I would take him back, but I'm not sure we would be interested. Anyone know if this is true?

3

28 Aug 2026 12:57:51
It would kill me to take him back, but his ball progression is a serious cheat code. I took it for granted tbh. VVD is the only ball playing defender we have (although Jacquet looked very comfortable on the ball in both of his games).

2

28 Aug 2026 12:58:55
Real have 2 RBs. If somebody can explain to me why they would be willing to lend us 1, I'll gladly entertain it, but until then, it's utter nonsense.

He did an interview recently in which he was asked about how he dealt with the animosity from Liverpool fans when he left, which sparked a whole load of nonsense conspiracy theories about him returning to Anfield, then, Dumfries started ahead of him last week, furthering speculation.

1

28 Aug 2026 13:00:34
It won't happen but it makes for a fancy click bait title.

0

28 Aug 2026 13:17:13
Can't see that happening. Be up for a swap with Frimpong though.

1

28 Aug 2026 13:32:55
I'd take him back. We'd solve fullback and CDM at the same time.

1

28 Aug 2026 11:48:31
Hearing rumours of Mac Allister being offered. Good news IMO, frees up space for another left winger.

8

28 Aug 2026 12:18:27
This late in the window, it would be stupid, as we take 3 months to replace anyone, so why sell and leave our midfield sort with 4 days left!

6

28 Aug 2026 12:19:56
Would like a couple of full backs, not gonna lie, and something to steady the bowels.

3

28 Aug 2026 12:25:12
Or maybe it's some 4D chess, offered to City, Chelsea can't help themselves and start bidding.
Meanwhile, they take their eye off Camara and we wrap it up, Maca strings them along after a little chat with our transfer guys, then we drag it right to the deadline, and none of them get Maca.
I'm looking for a new job.

5

28 Aug 2026 12:34:25
I would be happy for him to go. Still think he might go to A Madrid.
We have time to complete a few more signings before Tuesday night.

1

28 Aug 2026 12:43:40
Tbh, the only player that came on and successfully tackled someone against Newcastle, the rest of the midfield got waltzed by.

3

28 Aug 2026 12:51:44
In my opinion, neither Macca nor Cody are going anywhere during this window. The manager has made it clear several times that the squad is thin, so why make it thinner! I think we will get two more in after Barcola and the players out will be those that cannot get on the bench. Elliot and Freddie.

0

28 Aug 2026 12:59:26
My thoughts exactly, Snoots.

0

28 Aug 2026 13:22:46
Macca is much better than Grav and Szobo in defending midfield and passing the ball forwards into dangerous areas. No way we sell him. He's also buddies with Munoz, key to helping Munoz gel with the team.

0

28 Aug 2026 13:24:45
Or offer MacAlister to Monaco. :-)

0

28 Aug 2026 13:26:28
Alexis is never going to be worth more than he is now and has spoken of his desire to play abroad. We have to get rid now rather than lose yet another
player on the cheap to Spain.

Camara favours the Reds according to a local
football
journo, but it will
all come down to who pays more.

0

28 Aug 2026 07:56:18
Rabitsio Foamano claims Alexis MacAllister has been offered to City through 'intermediaries'. I wonder if Chelsea have been made the same off, with Enzo looking like he will go to City.

6

28 Aug 2026 09:35:25
I've also heard that through other sources. Would be some pretty terrifying midfield depth if they get both.

2

28 Aug 2026 09:38:12
Unless we have a stellar replacement already lined up, I really don't want him to go now, rather he went in Jan if he wants to go.

We need one more anyway (possibly Titi's son?) as we've only got Grav, Szob, Macca and Nyoni right now who are prem tested.

15

28 Aug 2026 09:50:03
Enzo and McAllister are a very scary midfield - scarily average, except at diving and cheating, of course.

27

28 Aug 2026 09:53:10
I agree Zed, for all our complaining about him and his play-acting, of all our starting midfielders he's the only one that actually has no fear of getting stuck in. I know he can go missing too often in games, but he's also got a wealth of experience, Opa America, World Cup, and PL titles, so even if we brought in 'spawn of Titi', I think Mac Allister would be good to keep around, even if it was just for the season, but I can see the club offloading if we get our target.

11

28 Aug 2026 09:54:10
Zed, we can replace him with a training cone if need be. At least it will stay upright all game.

19

28 Aug 2026 09:55:34
We're talking about the Argentina midfield that got them to the last 2 WC finals... that is no 'average' feat.
I understand they're bad characters, but please separate the player from the personality.

14

28 Aug 2026 09:58:49
Behave, Taurus. He was awful last season, like most of the squad, but he can play. He was very good at the WC. That being said, I'm not adverse to losing him as long as we have a replacement. We need one for Jones first.

7

28 Aug 2026 10:06:57
What Zed said. 👍

3

28 Aug 2026 10:08:51
Why is Mac Allister a bad character? Don't forget, lads, he's one of the midfield that won the league 16 months ago.

11

28 Aug 2026 10:13:53
The thing is, Frode, I think he's not been good for us. He spends too much time throwing himself to the ground and runs anonymous in our games. Even in our title winning season, I did not see it. He was average at best.

Yes, he can pop up with a goal here and there and I think he has good technique, but I'm really not a fan of what he brings the team and his antics are disappointing to see on the pitch.

Get rid for me.

But hey, if we all agreed there would be no conversation, so just my opinion.

7

28 Aug 2026 10:16:01
Macca had a crap season last year, as did most of our squad, but to write him off is crazy. We have no depth in our squad, but yet some fans are jumping to sell him to our biggest rival. The players we should be selling is Elliott, Chiesa, Tzimikas, Endo, Gomes, not first teamers!!

9

28 Aug 2026 10:21:25
I think, despite what we all think about how good he is, the reality is he has 2 years left on the contract, and we should have sold already and bought a replacement.

I do not see him signing a new deal, so financially we are once again letting someone run their deal down.

6

28 Aug 2026 10:25:57
FIFA got Argentina to the last 2 finals, not that midfield.

11

28 Aug 2026 10:26:43
From an article about our previous game:

Szoboszlai made zero tackles and won three of his 10 duels (30%) while Gravenberch similarly failed to make a tackle and won four of his 10 duels (40%).

When Mac Allister came on, he made two tackles and won four of his five duels (80%).

Is Mac the perfect MF? No, clearly not, but I do feel he is massively undervalued by fans and given a hard time unnecessarily. It should also be noted, we paid £35m for him, which in this day and age is an absolute bargain for a player of his calibre.

17

28 Aug 2026 10:27:36
If he's going to leave, it will be on a free to RM or maybe a token fee.

1

28 Aug 2026 10:42:34
Be lucky to get £50m for tha lot, D-Downey.

1

28 Aug 2026 10:47:58
Not as good as some are claiming, but also not as bad as others are claiming! However, with just 2 years left on his contract, and what appears to be a desire to leave, the best thing to do would be to sell if we can get good money for him.

Problem then is, do we have enough time to replace him? Probably not now, as Wharton, Scott etc are unlikely to be sold with just days to go in the window.

Definitely a dilemma if Citeh or Chelsea do make a decent bid!

2

28 Aug 2026 10:52:05
Stuie boy, I distinctly remember Gravenberch making at least 1 tackle.

2

4

28 Aug 2026 10:53:07
Taurus, I don't disagree with you, but the issue is we have (surprise, surprise) left it too late.

I don't particularly like selling our players to PL rivals (the ones that have played a significant part in our games) as there's always that 'Cole Palmer' or 'Kevin De Bruyne' effect which I'd hate to suffer from!

However, if Macca went to City or Chelsea earlier in the window and we got in, say, Wharton or Scott to replace him, all well and good.

Right now, we do need another reliable midfielder aside from Macca, if only to have experienced bodies in the middle of the park.

I've included Nyoni in my list above, but even he is pretty inexperienced in the PL. So if we sold Macca, even if we got in an international like Camara, I think we would be light for the upcoming season.

Sell Macca, get Wharton or Scott (for a similar price) and get in Camara? I'm happy.

4

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - LOL..."sell Macca ang get Wharton for a similar price", im thinking of getting a Rolls/Royce Zed...im trading in a 1985 Lada mate and wondering if you can broker the deal for me mate?.. :)

2

28 Aug 2026 11:00:41
I'm with you Zed, it is that we have left it late. I am hoping we sell and also bring a replacement in somehow. Very wishful, I know. Would love us to get Scott and Camara for sure.

I wouldn't worry that he'll improve Man City or Chelsea personally, I am happy for him to go to those teams because I don't believe he adds to them....okay maybe we can argue at the least he's better than Kovacic who is awful, but that's it.

3

28 Aug 2026 11:05:03
Is it possibly about the players and the system around Maca?
He was very good for Argentina in the WC this year, but underperformed for us.
Maybe, with a new DM and a couple of tweaks, he could do well for us. YNWA.

0

28 Aug 2026 11:07:56
Last season our midfield options were-
Szobo
Grav
MacA
Jones
Endo
Nyoni
With Wirtz being the attacking midfielder.

So far for this season we have-
Szobo
Grav
MacA
Endo
Nyoni
With Wirtz being the attacking midfielder.

Why do we think, when playing a more intense style of football, we can play with Less midfielders in the squad this season?

Hopefully another comes in.

3

28 Aug 2026 11:42:38
He's a decent player, but unsure if injuries have affected him or his neck by having his head turned and linked with Spain. Regardless of ability, I reckon he's done at Liverpool and doesn't seem interested. Good move for him, poor move for us without a replacement and added depth as it's grim in midfield.

1

28 Aug 2026 11:33:06
Didnt VG say we were after Bellingham, but only if Macca was sold?

2

28 Aug 2026 11:55:22
The thing is Macca is not a starter and with 2 years left on the contract. I doubt very much he'd renew without starting 11 assurances and not even sure the club would offer a new contract.

I was quite surprised when I read a couple of weeks ago he was staying. It seemed odd to me. Maybe he'll be sold if we sign Camara or similar and Endo, Nyoni and McConnell will be backup Not the best depth but probably fine till January where we can reassess.

0

28 Aug 2026 11:54:13
Anyone know if barcola is having his medical today?

1

28 Aug 2026 12:30:47
Never sell to and strengthen your direct rivals. Sell to anybody else but never to rivals.

1

28 Aug 2026 13:22:25
Macca is much better than Grav and Szobo in defending midfield and passing the ball forwards into dangerous areas. No way we sell him. He's also buddies with Munoz, key to helping Munoz gel with the team.

0

27 Aug 2026 22:42:30
Only from Twatter but apparently Chelsea are in for Camara now. Hopefully not true

4

28 Aug 2026 01:20:04
Don't get this in the slightest. They've got Caicedo and Lavia. Literally, what is the point?

7

https://www.rangersrumours.co.uk/images/Ed0041.png avatar{Ed666's Note - I have visuals of you banging your head against a brick wall Allison!

16

28 Aug 2026 02:03:09
Buy, loan, on-sell for profit. Football's version of human trafficking.

30

28 Aug 2026 04:30:03
It'd make sense to replace Enzo's potential departure.

6

28 Aug 2026 06:30:38
Just offer them the same and let the player decide. If he goes to them, he wasn't for us anyway. Simple. Not even Hughes can screw that one up....Surely?

9

https://www.rangersrumours.co.uk/images/Ed0041.png avatar{Ed666's Note - ye have little faith

7

28 Aug 2026 06:59:47
According to reports, they have offered the player to a few clubs including Liverpool and Chelsea, but there is nothing to say either is interested.

0

28 Aug 2026 08:13:10
To compare getting paid millions of pounds to being human trafficked is a bit silly.

7

28 Aug 2026 08:17:39
Interestingly, Romano claimed last night that Macca was offered to City, be interesting to see how this all plays out.

1

28 Aug 2026 08:42:36
How old is he? He looks like he's in his 40's.

1

28 Aug 2026 08:52:18
Are you sure that the players they buy for future profit are the ones that earn the millions?

2

28 Aug 2026 09:06:39
I'm sure Chelsea are interested in him with Fernandez probably leaving. Let's see how it plays out.

0

28 Aug 2026 09:38:51
I think it makes sense. Although Allison is right, they have a lot of players. But I don't think Lavia is quite up to speed, and they do need a quality midfielder.

0

28 Aug 2026 10:46:58
Hughes could screw everything up like a flat pack from
Ikea and layover the odds and Allister instructions... The manis leaving, so why he is still dealing with transfers is bloody crazy...

0

27 Aug 2026 22:22:10
Liverpool will sign a CM this window.

12

28 Aug 2026 02:04:43
DM lovers everywhere just let out a little sigh. Good old fashioned box to box midfielder is what we want. Does Terry Mac have a grandson?

6

https://www.rangersrumours.co.uk/images/Ed0041.png avatar{Ed666's Note - His f’ckin granddaughter would get into this current side it’s that bad.

18

28 Aug 2026 06:55:48
Sadiki was the ideal player, WDW, I'm definitely not sold on Wharton.
Kone is a DM, so not the profile the club would look for.

4

28 Aug 2026 07:32:11
I'm biased, but I think Alex Scott would be ideal for us?
Came on leaps & bounds under Iraola, and seems to have physically developed as well, so those early years injury ingles have disappeared. Would give our midfield the energy it needs.
Just my opinion before the experts jump in!

7

28 Aug 2026 07:43:59
@Shughes, agree with you Sadiki would be an excellent buy. Second only to Terry Mac's granddaughter. Really is good to have you back @666. 🙂

1

28 Aug 2026 08:22:27
Alex Scott is just another midfielder of the same profile that we already have, an attack minded box to box player. Would be a huge waste of money and we'd be just as weak and soft through the middle, unless the plan is to just concede as many goals as humanly possible, then in which case Hughes will no doubt fill his boots.

It's pretty clear we need a more defensively minded player and we'll likely throw away another season before anyone in the club realises that and addresses it.

7

28 Aug 2026 09:09:15
Spot on, West Derby.

0

28 Aug 2026 09:42:35
Can these box to box players not just be expected to have a bit of cop on and read the game? Know where your partner is and what he is doing? I see all these calls for specialist DM's but for me, you could play two players known more for attacking, maybe in Szobozlai and, let's say, an Alex Scott, and they should be able to work together.

Both cover every blade of grass on the pitch. It's just a case of engaging the auld brain cells. I'm not against a Camara type player but I don't think our search for a MF should be limited to just that profile.

3

28 Aug 2026 10:08:53
It's a fair point, Florian, and I would tend to agree. Back in the day, it was a cardinal sin for 2 midfielders to get caught out gallivanting up the pitch. 'One goes, one stays' - that was Gospel. And, by Fowler, did you hear about if you slipped up.

I think some of these lads nowadays have the situational awareness of a slow-boiled frog due to the amount of time they spend looking at photos of themselves on Instagrime.

1

28 Aug 2026 08:54:26
WDW, you realise we won the league playing Gravenberch as a DM right? So the last time we had success we had a DM.

If we want to play with attacking fullbacks we need a DM to protect the centre backs from easy attacks or at the very least a quick improvement in Grav and Sob's game understanding that they can't both charge forward at the same time!

1

27 Aug 2026 23:33:39
Sadly looks like Camara is off to Chelsea - a nice dream while it lasted. 🥲

9

27 Aug 2026 23:48:01
Sigh, I just don't get why so many players go to Chelsea on these huge length contracts!

The way Man City are spending this summer, I'm thinking there's a transfer ban incoming. 🤔

6

27 Aug 2026 23:55:04
Nothing guaranteed at this stage. Monaco would like a bidding war.

26

28 Aug 2026 00:29:07
Who said he's off to chelsea?

3

28 Aug 2026 00:52:02
Supposedly LFC keen on Manu Kone from Roma?

3

https://www.rangersrumours.co.uk/images/Ed0041.png avatar{Ed666's Note - I would most definitely want Kone if no Camara or Wharton. Hes deffo more of a 6 than a 6/8 tho.

10

28 Aug 2026 02:28:56
It's funny. Until we see Barcola in a Liverpool shirt, no one here believes we've actually signed him.

Then some random lad on Twitter says Camara is going to Chelsea and we're already thinking: "We've lost another player."

Two weeks ago, some lad here said, "Arsenal have entered the race for Barcola.

We've lost him." F*** that!

We, as fans, have the self-esteem of a flea.

YNWA, but at the first sign of trouble, we're walking alone in the rain.

We are the biggest club in England! Start acting like it.

19

https://www.rangersrumours.co.uk/images/Ed0041.png avatar{Ed666's Note - it doesent help when the whole football eco system is fueled by rumours on social media. You can’t help but be swept along with the tsunami of BS.. In the last week we were buying Barcola then Arsenal supposedly came in for gim..Cody was being romanced by spurs and city and Wednesday we’d had two bids rejected for Minteh and Thursday we were buying Sarr..so forgive us for being doubters and naysayers

23

28 Aug 2026 03:48:25
Well said, Zara.

5

28 Aug 2026 07:39:22
I heard a rumour that fleas have very high self esteem. Great in the air, and really great at winding up their opponent. Although I expect Chelsea to probably buy them all. Aw, well. 😜

Connected through work to a family with money in the States. They get approached to participate in sports team purchases every so often, including a certain NBA team that recently sold.

Word going around is that Bezos is looking for investors to potentially exercise the end-of-year option that would make their consortium majority shareholders in LFC. I would guess Bhatia and co. are doing the same unless they plan to go especially big on their investment.

Not sure how set they are on actually exercising the option, but they're certainly preparing for the possibility. Also, no word on whether FSG have right of first refusal or other terms of the deal, but the media was definitely right about near-term possibilities for the consortium's ownership expansion...and they appear to be exploring their options.

9

28 Aug 2026 00:16:22
Don't know why FSG would want to refuse, not unless some major issues crop up over the next 12 months; the clause heavily favours them as it puts the value of the club about £1.5 bn over its current valuation. Given that we heard FSG weren't all that happy about the appraisal of the club for the minority stake sale, I imagine they would only be delighted if the buyout did happen at the higher price.

Can't see any other reason for them even agreeing to the clause in the first place.

6

28 Aug 2026 00:19:31
No offence, pal - but this sounds like a porkie pie.

The media is obsessed with Bezos now being the "owner" of Liverpool, when in fact he is an investor in a fund, K5, which invested in another consortium, 1892 Holdings, which acquired a minority stake (38%) of Liverpool Football Club.

My understanding is that the consortium (1892 Holdings) has the option to acquire the rest of LFC in the next 12 months.

Not Bezos directly, and not K5 directly. Bezos does not even have a board position on LFC, 1892 or K5!

Bezos is a busy guy. I very much doubt he is doing the rounds trying to personally raise funds for a further acquisition of the club.

Red Sandman.

14

28 Aug 2026 01:26:50
When I say "Bezos", I mean his family office. Wouldn't be surprised if K5 is doing the same, but I don't hear much about their general partners.

It's not easy for a firm of their size/lifespan to raise another $1B+ in 12 months. Sometimes, a big cheque helps. Also, small LPs in a fund are going to want to see some distributions much faster than a wealthy family.

Sports teams, particularly in football, are not often cash flow lucrative. You'd rather have someone who can fork over a large sum of cash and not care about getting their money back for a decade plus. My guess as to why they're shopping the deal around.

2

28 Aug 2026 02:08:08
@Red Sandman, It's a rumours and banter site. Not a question of porkie pies.

6

28 Aug 2026 07:17:21
Why would Bezos be looking for investors? Has he already fallen out with the consortium that recently purchased 38%?

1

28 Aug 2026 07:35:31
Why would Bezos need investors anyway?
What's £6B to him? 2-3% of his net worth. If he wanted to buy the club he doesn't need investment.

1

28 Aug 2026 12:59:15
WDW, I completely agree this is a place for rumours and banter - it's why I've checked this website daily since 2013!

I also enjoy reading your posts and it's chaps and chappetes like you that have kept me addicted to this page for years and years (as a mostly lurker / very infrequent poster).

I was calling out the porkie pie as it does seem that this summer in particular, more and more people are appearing from nowhere claiming to be "ITK" even when the insight they claim doesn't actually make sense (like saying it's Bezos who is looking to exercise the option - when the option doesn't actually belong to him or his family office).

All peace and love.

Red Sandman.

Good friends with an agent based in Budapest and he's given me a piece of strange information - Liverpool are trying to complete a loan deal for a striker. Three players being spoken to are Ivan Azon (Como), Cucho Hernandez (Betis) and Romulo (Leipzig). Azon is the most likely at the moment and Chiesa potentially going the other way.

29

https://www.rangersrumours.co.uk/images/Ed0041.png avatar{Ed666's Note - now that’s an old school runout if I’ve ever heard one. We need a striker so hope it happens

30

27 Aug 2026 22:33:39
Maybe Solanke as part of the Gapko deal.

4

27 Aug 2026 22:34:34
Now that Barcola is done, we're finally settling back into the spirit of this site - old school rumours. No more "as I said" posts or any of that faff. Order has been restored.

18

27 Aug 2026 22:37:54
Proper good rumour 👌. Also, we sign a player mostly when we do friendly games or meet in cups so maybe the Como one has extra legs?

4

27 Aug 2026 22:38:52
Ivan Azon, 5 goals in 38 games in the Championship for Ipswich last season. We must be desperate.

I can't say I've ever seen any of them play, but purely on what I've just looked up about them, Romulo is the only one I'd be remotely interested in. Azon barely scored in the Championship and Cucho just looks like an absolute bellend!

Could do with a striker, if it happens, I guess that means Cody's gone.

Getting someone on loan until Ekitike is back makes sense.

On Azon and any goal record concerns, it is important to note that Iraola is likely looking for a particular profile of striker to cover Isak. Think of Evanilson, who he had at Bournemouth, and Camello at Vallecano, i.e. athleticism, energy and pressing. The three mentioned have these attributes, and their clubs are seemingly willing to discuss moves.

Goals are expected to come from the wings and midfield, so more room for this type of player. I've been told there are other players being spoken to, but no names as yet - it's a short-term solution until Ekitike returns, and it makes sense, albeit making us look quite desperate.

I like the sound of a Solanke... Former Red, played under Iraola, out of favour.

Multiple transfers have actually been completed since yesterday, but Barcola is still 'agreed in principle'? Lol.
