Thoughts on Liverpool going in for Kelleher if Alisson does decide to move away?
Bazza.
18 Oct 2026 20:17:27
No thanks.
18 Oct 2026 20:22:56
Lucca Brughmans is coming at the end of the current season since we already bought him.
18 Oct 2026 20:51:21
If Kelleher hadn't previously played for Liverpool no one would be saying this.
18 Oct 2026 20:57:38
Personally I don't want him, mamardashvili should move to no 1 and give him a chance.
{Ed025's Note - hmmmm..
18 Oct 2026 22:03:40
Kelleher is at a good club and I think he should stay there as long as he can.
He is too weak in the air to play regularly for a top club.
18 Oct 2026 22:11:31
No nothing of the Belgian lad we've bought so can't say whether he no.1 quality r not. Doesn't seem to be awful lot of outstanding goalkeepers about but must say been v impressed with suziki from villa+Japan on what I've seen from him. Good presence and excellent with his feet.
18 Oct 2026 23:02:50
I can see Mama being sold next season once Brughmans arrives. And I think Allison will stick around for a couple more years to help Brughmans settle in, he is only just 18 after all, too young to be our No.1 straight away.
18 Oct 2026 12:19:30
I also stated in the summer that Rio is viewed as the 'heir' to Salah on the right.
Got a fair bit of flack for that, hopefully you're all now seeing the plan.
He will also be offered the number 11 shirt from next season.
Have a lovely weekend.
Ta.
18 Oct 2026 12:34:13
You called it Carra.
Any incomings planned for January?
18 Oct 2026 12:26:17
Cheers carra
Is there any truth in us looking to bring in lamine camara in January?
18 Oct 2026 13:00:57
Wouldn't say you got many likes for that comment Carra.😀Personally I think, and have for some time the boy will be a star.
Not a sentiment that's shared on here.
18 Oct 2026 13:13:35
Because no one knows how it will work out / if he will be a star or not. He's not Sterling or Owen where it was obvious. Some decent games, some not so decent games. Having Munoz on the right though and keeping Gakpo means maybe the priority isn't a right winger anymore.
Maybe its a combative, tackling midfielder who can cover a load of ground so we can play 2 of Wirtz/Szob/Macca in a midfield 3 and a right back albeit if they still think Bradley is the future then they will continue to plug the gap until he is back.
18 Oct 2026 13:26:33
Cheers Carra, Rio looked a lot stronger on the ball yesterday, that was one of Salah's elite traits.
18 Oct 2026 13:56:09
He is adapting quickly to playing on the right, it's very promising.
18 Oct 2026 13:57:32
Wasn't obvious with Sterling until the 2913/14 season War. His break out year, when he turned 19.until then he had 2 Premier League goals. The same amount as Rio. People remember incorrectly. At Rio's age Sterling had done very little, in a much weaker squad.
18 Oct 2026 14:36:59
Cheers Carra. Your info is pretty solid as always mate.
18 Oct 2026 16:30:36
How likely is Alex Scott? We've been getting linked with him quite a bit.
I would take Camara personally since he's the cheaper option and gives us more room to fix the squad but I can understand if we're hesitant about how he adapts to the league. Also, we need to fix the situation with HG spots.
18 Oct 2026 17:50:21
I'm not in this Rio fanfare camp as you know and although he had a decent cameo yesterday he'd want to be extra productive between now and seasons end for me to think he's the future RW for LFC. Talented, but he's nothing special. IMO only of course.
18 Oct 2026 18:47:53
Fair do's Florian, you got a better memory than me. I just remember loads of hype getting him from QPR wasn't it and then he was in the team and the speed he had and his trickery at getting passed defenders.
But he couldn't shoot and wasn't ever a massive goal scorer was he? . But I've realised at my age i have prob forgotten more seasons than i can now remember.
18 Oct 2026 19:11:58
I think Rio has a lot of improvements needed to his game but I think he looks and sounds like he has the right attitude and work ethic.
So with them traits I think AI will improve him as we have seen at Bournemouth.
Last season was was waisted because of Slot.
18 Oct 2026 20:04:54
It will be nice if he makes it with us. I like the lad and love to see an academy lad make it.
For me though he's just still so young and raw. I'd still be bringing in someone to slot right in on the right in the January window if possible, or summer.
You can do that and Rio will ready in a few years time. The thought of him being first choice right now is quite scary to be honest.
18 Oct 2026 20:52:59
Nice to hear from you Carra. Cheers for the update.
Been steering clear of here a bit lately as it's constant doom and gloom and getting a little sick of it.
18 Oct 2026 10:54:52
A win yesterday, but not a good one, we were bang average when it was 11 v 11. The side lacks identity and are easy to play through. I see little difference in our style of play from last season. I'm not convinced, we got lucky that their player was stupid enough to throw his head in. I'm desperate for wirtz to be the player we signed but as the weeks go on I just don't think it's going to happen.
You can throw all the stats you want at me but watching him play, he is not a 116 million superkid. I don't know how it will wash out but I don't see AI lasting two seasons unless things change.
18 Oct 2026 11:21:19
Really? Andoni has got the sht end of a shtty stick. It'll take time.
He's without some players. I agree I'd bin Flo if an offer comes in. He's not a fit. Play Mac, Nyoni and Szob.
18 Oct 2026 11:38:27
They haven't lost at home for 8 months
Got to give us credit where it's due.
18 Oct 2026 11:48:21
What an absolute load of rubbish. He's inherited a squad that is weak in several key areas, which the club stupidly didn't address in the summer. It's going to take time to implement his desired style of play and we obviously need signings to speed this along. If you seriously can't see any improvement from last season, then you need to choose a different sport.
18 Oct 2026 12:11:26
So we are lucky because their thug of a player headbutted Jaquet, but you chose to ignore that an accurate result yesterday would have been 4 or 5-1?! With 5 or so starters missing as well, I don't remember Alisson making a single 'difficult' save yesterday.
{Ed025's Note - if thatso called head butt could knock an athlete over then im a monkey,s uncle ASB, #shithousery of the highest order from Jaquet imo..
18 Oct 2026 13:03:20
We were lucky. Wouldnt have won against 11.But we did win. Iraola is not the problem he will do well. Doing better than he should be.
18 Oct 2026 13:19:17
I personally thought we were all over them for first 30 mins probs and then they got a foothold in the game, threatened without really creating anything. Went 1-0 up agains that run of play generally. Would have not had a great deal to complain about had one of those penalty shouts been given.
We also had a golden chance that Barcola missed, Barcola hit the bar, and we fluffed a chance towards the end on a counter attack.
Meanwhile other than their good headed goal, I don't recall Alisson ever really being tested?
18 Oct 2026 13:19:49
You probably pass out of that vicious headbutt ed025 🤣🤣🤣 soft ofcourse but still guilty your honour 🙏.
{Ed025's Note - anyone who thinks that was a head butt ASB...has never had a bevy in the Eagle and Child in Huyton mate.. :)
18 Oct 2026 13:50:31
How's Iraola "doing better than he should be? Just because your expectations appear to have been exceeded doesn't mean he's doing better than he should be. I'd bet that if you asked him he'd say we should be doing better.
18 Oct 2026 13:54:03
People lack the ability to apply context these days. Liverpool have played twice since Brentford last played a game and Brentford have lost 3 home league games in a year. It's an exceptionally hard away game and people are disappointed we didn't see champagne football.
18 Oct 2026 14:15:23
Maybe I'm wrong WDW. Was just looking at it from the viewpoint of having zero RB's, basically zero midfielders suited to played in a two, zero actual right wingers and on top of that Injuries to Ekitike, Isak, Gakpo and Dom in his first coupla months at the club.
From a squad that finished 5th last year. Maybe your right, maybe we should be flying high at the top of the league.
18 Oct 2026 15:16:38
To the OP, are we even watching the same team? It's night and day compared to what we were last year, just because we aren't scoring 5 goals a game doesn't mean that the style of play isn't drastically different, this team is always trying to be positive and to move the ball forwards as quickly as they can, the pressing isn't as coordinated as we would like but you can see what they are trying to do when it comes off.
I don't feel like my team is going to concede with every counter attack anymore, the opposition need to create a very good chance and pull off a low percentage finish to get a goal because we aren't going to leave the door wide open for them anymore (and even if it is open Jacquet will probably close it again himself). We were bang average in the first half? I don't know if we were watching the same game, because I think we were overall the better team in the first half, we just didn't manage to go ahead.
18 Oct 2026 15:57:42
The Egale n child sends Chivers down my spine. Seen 3 proper fights in there in less than 30 mins once. The for the grand finally an old women ( 60s) hit her husband in the head with a glass. Got up swearing and walked out.
He sat there finished his pint with blood dripping down his face. Then got up and walked out. The other punters didn't even seem to notice. I was only about 18 but remember it as clear as day.
{Ed025's Note - it was some pub that Chrisy ..
18 Oct 2026 18:42:51
There really is just no pleasing people. Our fans have become spoiled it's sad just support the team.
18 Oct 2026 10:40:25
Hello all,
Liverpool have agreed a fee with Tijuana for the transfer of Gilberto Mora and the player has accepted a move to LFC.
Fee will be upwards of £38M, he will join the summer of 2027.
Ta.
18 Oct 2026 10:45:49
Thanks for the update mate 🙏.
18 Oct 2026 10:56:45
Nice on Carra, thanks for the info and it's good to see you back.
18 Oct 2026 10:56:51
Thanks for sharing! I don't know anything about him, but do we need another AM who can play on the left? Again I know nothing about him so only going off what positions he currently plays.
18 Oct 2026 11:01:57
Wow! Thanks Carra. That's big news! I don't know the man whatsoever but I obviously have read the hype about him. It seems like a bit of a coup for LFC knowing what other teams were after his signature. I hope it works out for all parties!
18 Oct 2026 11:30:44
Fun fact he will be our smallest player at 5 ft 6 inches since Shaqiri who was half an inch shorter if online records are to be believed.
Hopefully has room to grow though.
18 Oct 2026 11:49:12
Thanks Carra. Mora is awesome.
18 Oct 2026 11:53:38
Early days yet but he does kind of remind me of Modric, in the Mexican national team he has to do his fair share of defensive work too so he is developing on the other side of the ball as well.
18 Oct 2026 12:47:17
That news hit me like a big pizza, because that's a Mora.
{Ed025's Note - nice Willo..
18 Oct 2026 13:04:44
Videos of him giving thumbs up to LFC fans doing the rounds. Seems nailed on alright.
18 Oct 2026 13:22:53
This is because we lost out on the young German über-talent. or did we?
18 Oct 2026 15:27:04
Cheers, Carra.
18 Oct 2026 17:33:48
Waste of time and money and the wrong signing
Whether he costs 1 pound or the 30 odd million so where's he going to play then? Number 10? Are we stocking up on the same type of players. Jesus.
17 Oct 2026 20:30:13
Great result against a tricky away side. Performance was not great atall.
The performances have improved from slots but that just shows you how bleak we were last season.
It's not great stuff we're conjuring atall at in the league atm. We look a top 6 side at best in the league.
Our central midfield needs reinforcements in January.
I'd urge everyone to watch the goal we conceded.
Macca stands and moves his hips slightly and away from the ball. That was his attempt at stopping the Incoming cross into the box to which they scored.
That's criminal. If that was a youngster, he'd have been yanked off the pitch.
I'm hearing we're after a LB in January. That's great, but we have an average midfield. This midfield is hindering us. We need real quality with pace and power in there.
17 Oct 2026 20:56:43
I agree. The midfield is the biggest issue, then the defence, then the forwards. But the midfield first. Never liked MacA. Not really sure what Gravenberch is? Sometimes looks like a world class midfielder and sometimes looks like he should play for Bolton. Szobo is probably our best but I am not even sure I like him. Massively overrated but still decent. I think a DM coming in gives the manager so much more options with the luxury players.
I personally think we have too much mediocrity and all seem to only want to play the same position. And it's funny how Nyoni is putting them all to shame. Good to see, but Wirtz has been a bad bad signing. We could have used Szobo there and bought a DM and a really good right back for the Wirtz money. The sporting director was awful over the last load of years.
17 Oct 2026 21:15:25
I think we've a very good defense. It'd be even better with a top 6 Infront of it.
17 Oct 2026 22:00:36
2 full backs and a proper no6 is what this team is missing IMO
Seen links to a lad called bajanqui at right fullback he looks(albeit YouTube ) very talented likes to run and very physical not sure if anyone more itk than me knows if it's anything in it.
I've not give up on Kerkez yet but he has a lot to improve on
Weve never replaced Fabinho in my eyes and would love the club to go out and get that proper no6 we've been crying out for I think it will bring the best out in other players like wirtz and a Kerkez say.
Not sure who that is btw if their is a modern day / ngolo kante regen anywhere can we please sign him.
17 Oct 2026 22:10:34
Injuries to in form big name players hasn't helped either. Even with everyone fit we would be short but at the moment it seems we're patching a makeshift team together for every game and the performances have matched that. What has impressed me though is despite all the problems Iraola is grinding out results and instilling a style of play;as far as without the ball goes anyway).6 wins 3 draws and 1 loss from the first 10 games is very decent under the circumstances.
17 Oct 2026 22:10:50
So, to summarise, the midfield isn't very good then? Is that right @Ron? Can we take that as read then or are you back on your once a day routine of saying the same thing over and over again?
17 Oct 2026 22:34:57
I'm not saying he's the answer but Macca was really good today.
Nyoni looked goosed from midweek as the game wore on.
17 Oct 2026 22:40:05
Camara incoming I've heard.
{Ed666's Note - I’d take Titi Camara right now
17 Oct 2026 23:08:50
The thing is Florian, if Arsenal or City get injuries they have a ready made replacement who is just as good. We don't even have their quality of starters when all our squad is fit. That is just the rubbish facts of the matter.
We aren't a million miles away. DM and 2 proper full backs could be the difference. Keep Kerkez and Frimpong for the bench and rotate Grav and MacA. Also think that maybe Wirtz should just be used for CL until we sell him for a huge loss.
18 Oct 2026 02:05:45
If you could tell me who the City replacement for Haaland is that would be great. None of the strikers Arsenal have are as good as Isak or Ekitike. Liverpool missing 6 first team players went toe to toe with a Sham City team missing virtually no one for 60 minutes until a red card changed the game.
18 Oct 2026 08:15:16
True FPF. but apparently his hips do lie as he failed to stop a cross with his hips. so, maybe he wasn't that good .apparently!!
18 Oct 2026 10:48:13
Shakira Mac Allister!
18 Oct 2026 09:58:13
I'm with you ed but I Trump you with Aztec just because I'm a comedy genius with wobbly glasses.
{Ed666's Note - Aztec Camara 🤣
18 Oct 2026 13:09:30
Agree what your saying about our squad Inbeta despite fifth picking out the one position we're the strongest in the league in😂.its why I've said all along I'd be happy with Champs league places and progression this season.
18 Oct 2026 13:25:39
I agree with Neil from TAW regarding Dom S: "If he is your best player, you know you've got a problem."
Right-back and number 10 against physical sides are probably his best positions. He's also an excellent set-piece taker with a great engine.
Beyond that, I'm yet to be convinced that he's a genuinely world-class player.
18 Oct 2026 14:44:09
And yet who in our current squad is a better player than him FSW? And please don't say Wirtz.
18 Oct 2026 15:37:17
Dom has a lot of qualities, and is probably elite at direct free kicks, he leads the press with the best of them when he's on it, he can be very good driving with the ball from the center of the park, and he is always a goal threat around the box. He has very good passing range but his delivery is inconsistent in open play, though it is better from right back when he has more time to pick a pass. He is not a particularly good crosser but a more than decent corner taker. In the final third he can be very conservative with his passing and doesn't have the vision or wherewithal to try something riskier.
His biggest demerit is his below average duel winning rate and general lack of a tackling or ball winning game. He can be an exceptional and intelligent presser in terms of blocking passing lanes and harrying the opposition but he doesn't often come away with the ball (though that isn't the primary purpose of pressing anyway). He is also not especially good in the air.
Overall a very good player who can be influential on his day but not consistently a game changer who stamps his authority on games outside of free kicks.
If I'm thinking about who our 'best' player may be, they would have be somebody you can depend upon to put in a very good performance every single week, sometimes more than once a week. Right now you'd have to say it's probably Jacquet or Virgil. That's in the immediate present moment though, could change as our attack starts flowing and our forwards start picking up form.
I also have to say that Macca has quietly been very good since getting back in the starting 11 and has been our best midfielder this season.
17 Oct 2026 18:03:06
Heard it on the grapevine frimpong if off to Germany in January. sources close to the club.
17 Oct 2026 18:24:46
Do we have to wait until Jan? Can't we appeal to the league to get dispensation for him to go now 😆.
17 Oct 2026 18:47:29
I question my character and mindset for saying this but I am kinda happy he is out
Horrible thing to say but the lad makes djimi traore look like prime maldini.
17 Oct 2026 20:39:47
Thank you Marvin Gaye!
17 Oct 2026 22:07:53
Yeah a former Liverpool player made the same hint on the radio the other day, can't remember who it was but he said "somebody might be going back to Germany", obviously it's pingpong, Wirtz will likely follow in the Summer.
17 Oct 2026 20:01:38
Yeah, spot on, always good to see a lad injured.
17 Oct 2026 13:23:35
God, i see Salah playing in Turkey and it boils my blood. He would have taken this side to a new level this season
If they assured him Slot was gone by end of season, i think he would have just bid his time out and stayed put and killed it under Adoni.
What an absolute blunder.
17 Oct 2026 13:31:01
He should have waited. It was more likely Arne was going than staying.
17 Oct 2026 13:55:08
At least he left when he was still getting picked for the first team.
Would have been sad to watch him lose his place in the team.
I think the timing was probably about right, how many games has he had in Turkey?
17 Oct 2026 13:55:23
Mo still a very good player and legend but he's no longer worth the hassle.
He would have done well under AI this season but he would have been rotated and his ego would explode again.
Like Ronaldo when he returned to United, if he had accepted starting some games and coming off the bench on others, he would have lasted a lot longer in the Prem instead of having to go to bloody Saudi. Hell i think he could still be an asset off the bench for Portugal but again his ego can't take it and he wants to play full 90s every game in his 40s.
So i agree- Salah the player would have done well this season but the ego would have done more harm than good when Munoz came in to give him a rest for example. i'm not even complaining-that ego got him and CR7 the generational output levels. But Mo is now where he belongs-with a club who will play him every game, give him the ball every attack and bow to his demands.
17 Oct 2026 17:27:36
Right time for him to go. Move on.
{Ed666's Note - 10 goals and 9 GA says it wasn’t
17 Oct 2026 17:47:10
Stop dragging up players that have left and look forward to the new generation. Jeez there's some right Eyore doom and gloom merchants today. we won btw.
17 Oct 2026 18:39:33
I think the original poster is frustrated because the new generation is nowhere near the level of Salah, Mane, Firmino, with Hendo, Gigi, Fabinho behind, and TAA, and Robbo etc. the team has been stripped of most of its quality and replaced with Poundland versions. Some of the players haven't even been replaced and there is complete imbalance in the squad. 9 points off leaders after 7 games tells you everything you need to know. We will hopefully make champs league this season, but what is the point if we aren't going to challenge.
We have some bright talents coming through and that is positive but he needs to build a better midfield and forward line in my opinion. The club has wasted a lot of money on overpriced players who are underperforming. Why does Wirtz continue to keep his place? He should be dropped until he starts playing like a Premier League footballer. A spell on the sidelines would sort him out.
17 Oct 2026 18:59:44
Munoz and Ngumoa are the future - give them the games.
17 Oct 2026 19:37:58
Stop bringing up players we have lost!
On another note I see Diaz got a hat trick for Munich!!
{Ed666's Note - 🤣
17 Oct 2026 20:07:36
@666, he was the best in his position in the world for a good while. We were lucky to see him play for our club, but the Mo Salah playing in the Turkish league isn't the player he was in his prime for us. He wouldn't have those stats had he been with us this season.
Magnificent player but he is the past. Good luck to the lad and I hope he has a brilliant season for his club but it's time for us to move on imho.
{Ed666's Note - how do you know he wouldn’t have got those stats if he was still at Liverpool? He would have been playing further up the pitch, had lots more space and alas we’ll never know mate.
18 Oct 2026 02:09:23
A huge part of why Mo underperformed last season was the fact that he wasn't getting the ball quick enough, he's most effective when he's got players on the back foot, utilising his strength to hold off chasing runs, his timing to cut inside and his intelligence for link-up play, but with Slotball he was getting the ball, late, flat-footed, in dead space with little in the way of supporting runs and settled, prepared defenders ahead of him. that's not Mo's game.
Iraolas style would have suited him a hell of a lot better than Slots.
{Ed666's Note - Keep on preaching brother! It baffles me how people don’t think Salah couldn’t be succesfull under AI.
15 Oct 2026 14:24:48
Lots of people might not agree but as long as ekitike comes back next season as good as before I would sell Isak and play koumas as back up. I've not been impressed at all with isaks work rate.
I think koumas has more ability than most give him credit for. Buy a number 6 and 2 full backs to rotate or compete. With another midfield option szboslai could rotate more with Wirtz.
15 Oct 2026 14:49:26
I'm made up for Koumas, but let's not get carried away. He has a grand total of 7 league goals across 2 full seasons in the Championship. Useful as a utility player but not a genuine long term option as backup striker.
15 Oct 2026 14:55:49
Or you know you can just have all 3?? The amount of football played in a season is what's 40-50 games there's enough for everyone to get a lot of game time.
15 Oct 2026 15:15:45
I'd like to see Isak run more and score less.
15 Oct 2026 15:16:53
The only concern i have with Isick, apart from his work rate, is the lack of availability since signing him. Apart from that, i think we all know he can finish. With regards to Koumas, it's exiting to see a English striker coming through.
I especially like his attacking drive and hunger, and he knows where the goal is as well. Kloppers is right, in that, there's enough matches to go around, so i'd keep all 3 personally. Midfield needs the attention first and foremost IMO.
15 Oct 2026 15:20:26
Isick!!
15 Oct 2026 15:48:15
Lewis Koumas is Welsh.
15 Oct 2026 15:57:15
I don't think Isak's work rate is bad at all. It's about trying to get rid of the bad habits implemented by Slot ball. All of our strikers seemed to do the same thing when he was in charge, stand in the middle just outside the box whilst being completely uninvolved in everything around them.
As if the ball was supposed to reach them by pure telekinesis.
15 Oct 2026 15:59:17
Isak, Ekitike, Koumas, Danns, Wright. Has to be the one position where we are the strongest in the league in terms of depth.
15 Oct 2026 16:35:42
Danns has been out of the picture for a while. What's happening with him?
15 Oct 2026 16:42:36
JK, 🤣 me too mate!
15 Oct 2026 17:04:56
My only concern with Isak is fitness. I think he is well able to press and is a clever presser tham most think. He done it well for Newcastle but they did take him off at the 70 minute mark a lot. One of the many reasons why i was never overly worried about him and Hugo in the building together. There is plenty of games for them to rotate and now both of their bodies need it. In this system i think they could play well together ocassionally too btw.
Id be happy to keep Koumas- love the kid but let's not be ridiculous Isak is a BELTER well round number 9 and is leagues ahead of Koumas.
15 Oct 2026 18:03:08
If Isak ran about like Chiesa and didn't score any more the. I think everyone would be happy. I would like to see Endo save more shots. He is awful at nets.
15 Oct 2026 18:43:53
Danns was injured for a long while I believe. I was hoping to see a bit more of him with Isak, Gakpo, and Eki all being out.
15 Oct 2026 19:29:54
@The 5th Element - Koumas was born in England. Chester in fact. Grew up in England, That makes him English as far as i'm concerned, albeit to a Welsh father.
15 Oct 2026 20:03:21
Work rate as a skill. Classic.
15 Oct 2026 22:00:31
TIB, perhaps you should have a word with Koumas and ask him why he sees himself as Welsh and wishes to represent his country.
15 Oct 2026 22:00:48
Koumas looks a LOT cuter with long hair. No one can deny.
15 Oct 2026 22:01:44
By that logic Bulk, John Barnes is Jamaican and not English?
15 Oct 2026 22:21:20
Crazy to want to sell Isak: he is a lethal striker. People have short memories: Bobby was pretty anonymous in key finals, and we all wanted a proper striker back then.
If all fit, we have a terrifying front line.
And a pretty great midfield, and back four.
The issue for me is that we get results away, but struggle at home. Something has gone really wrong with Anfield - it's all very like watching Spurs at home: just so silent, 'and then we monster down on a player who makes an error.
Klopp was often cross about it; we
need to fix it.
15 Oct 2026 23:45:03
You can qualify for a country that you aren't born in, can't you?
Not just footy either. My fave was Zola Budd, who lasted about 20 minutes as a British citizen, although to her great credit during that time, the girl did manage to trip up the insufferable US of A golden girl, Mary Decker in the Olympics.
However, I digress, just to be clear, Lewis Koumas was born in Chester, Chester is in England, ipso facto Lewis Koumas is English. He just happens to want to play for Wales.
16 Oct 2026 00:50:00
Before Ekitike's injury, I was saying on here that the club will need to make a decision about selling one of them in the next couple seasons.
they are competing pieces, not complimentary.
So I fully agree. I would sell Isak.
16 Oct 2026 04:40:53
Funny people on here mansplaining why Koumas is English when he himself considers himself Welsh, hence he has decided to play for Wales.
16 Oct 2026 07:07:24
@TFE, just to be clear, do you believe that Chester is in Wales?
Koumas can actually think he is Nigerian if he wishes but it doesn't alter the fact that he is English
Sorry if I'm mansplaining, does that make you 'a lady of the opposite sex', as someone once said? I ask because my wife, whose dad was in the RAF and was stationed at a number of places, was born in Edinburgh but still insists 45 years after I first met her that she's English because her parents were English.
In the real world it actually doesn't matter but I just find it funny.
16 Oct 2026 07:31:43
Your married??
16 Oct 2026 08:16:33
The first question would be does Isak trust his body enough to run gungho 3 games in 2wks? Like we all know he is a little made of glass.
Like how much does Haaland run for City? They rarely do. Just make yourself useful and put the ball in the net would be fine for me and Isak can do that. I still think Minteh can do a lot for us up front with regards to pressing.
Honestly, I really can't stand another £100m signing anymore. Go for the players that suits the manager and develop them, it's the LIV way.
16 Oct 2026 08:59:07
If someone is born in England, to a English mother, and grows up in England, that makes him English. Is his place or birth Wales? No it isn't. At least 18 people seem to think that Chester is in Wales.
It's really quite embarrassing. Koumas can believe he's Welsh if he wants, a bit like i'm Irish on paddys day. Doesn't alter the facts though does it.
16 Oct 2026 09:01:51
so let me get this straight everyone has moaned about options in positions and the census is oh yeah you'll need to sell Isak soon he's competing with Hugo?? what kind of logic is that? number 9 does not need to be touched for years as far as I'm concerned you have Isak>Hugo>Koumas>Danns>Wright you wanted competition for places no?
16 Oct 2026 09:27:46
Lewis Koumas is a British national. 👍
He represents Wales at football.
Surely it's up to him whether he wants to be regarded as English (his birth place) or Welsh (his heritage).
16 Oct 2026 09:30:30
@DenP 🙂🙂🙂 although I think you meant you're married 😉.
16 Oct 2026 09:47:01
People hating on Isak & Barcola are hilarious to me, Isak is one of if not the most leathal strikers out there and will prove his worth easily, Barcola didn't have a pre-season after a long world cup, like how impatient & clueless can someone be.
16 Oct 2026 09:54:22
@The 5th Element - Koumas was born in England. Chester in fact. Grew up in England, That makes him English as far as i'm concerned, albeit to a Welsh father.
Being born in England to Greek Cypriot parents. I count myself as a British Cypriot. So have dual nationality.
It does work both ways, even though born in the UK (my mother was too), it does not stop a lot of British people still saying I am a foreigner due to my surname. At the same time the Cypriots also say I am English due to my native tongue and broken up greek language when spoken.
A number of my friends had dual nationality too, with the having both English and Swiss/Irish/Italian passports. Where your parents are from does form part of your heritage.
In fact, Jason Koumas had the option to represent England, Cyprus or Wales and went with Wales. Having been born in Wrexam to a greek cypriot dad and English mum.
16 Oct 2026 10:37:53
I don't understand that statement sell Isak when Ekitike is fit.
Isak is a good level above Ekitike last season him doing the odd good thing when we was so bad just made him look better than he was.
Ekitike has a long way to go before being good enough to be our main striker he 8/10 makes the wrong decision he is not very good at pressing as well so don't think he will bring an improvement on Isak on that and he is nowhere near as good a finisher as Isak.
As everyone has noticed this season our best player last season Szoboszlai is not as good as everyone thought in midfield.
Being the best off a bad bunch last season does not make you great.
We are 6 games in and all the players are learning how AI wants us to play Isak does not have to press like a monster just a slight improvement in all aspects of his game and big improvements on fitness levels of most of the squad as the season goes on will bring massive improvements don't take Sundays game into account city had a full squad to chose from we had a lot of injuries but was still the better team till there 12th man impacted the game.
16 Oct 2026 11:14:42
Wolverine, I don't think that Mac is a particularly foreign sounding surname? More Scottish really.
16 Oct 2026 10:22:34
Ron Keague - You don't just decide what nationality you are because you feel like it. That's not how it works. I know it's popular for people these days to wake up and decide they're a cat, a brick, or a transmutated amoeba, but that does not change anything. The Guy is English, end of.
16 Oct 2026 12:20:13
@Zeddicus - Mac comes from my first dog named Mac for short as wife's maiden name is MacDonough.
16 Oct 2026 12:22:23
@The Incredible Bulk - What does that make Halaand? Michael Olise? Antoine Semenyo?
16 Oct 2026 12:27:56
TIB - I think you'll find his "nationality" is British.
16 Oct 2026 13:14:56
WolverineMac - What do you think it makes them?
Ron Keague - My nationality is British too, born in England, so i'm English, as well as British. The same applies for Koumas.
Come on guys, it's not that difficult.
16 Oct 2026 15:20:47
No one ever wanted peak Bobby replacing - he is a Jurgen GOAT.
16 Oct 2026 16:36:23
The Incredible Bulk - I would have thought that Haaland considers himself as a British Norwegian. No doubt he has both passports.
Talking personally, I see myself as both Cypriot and British. Having been born in the UK, bought up with Cypriot values and the culture and spending many summers with family in Cyprus too during the holidays.
16 Oct 2026 16:40:42
I think this is the view taken by the government. Being born in the UK gives no automatic birthright citizenship: Since January 1, 1983, being born in the UK does not automatically make you a British citizen. Hence why undocumented or non-British families: If born in the UK to parents who do not have legal status or citizenship, you are not automatically a British citizen and face removal or deportation.
So I guess they have no right to calling themselves British.
17 Oct 2026 11:41:41
Having the two of them, assuming they're both at full fitness, will take away from each other
There is no chance they return anything near the number of G/As what we've paid for and will continue to pay for
They're competing pieces not complimentary.
It'd make sense to sell one, preferably Isak, and use the funds elsewhere - either a backup or just put faith into Koumas / Wright, Danna etc.
17 Oct 2026 13:23:09
Koumas has done nothing to suggest he is, or is going to be good enough to lead Liverpools front line. Nowhere near either Ekitike or Isak and if either were injured does anyone really see him leading the line over multiple games?
Suggesting to sell either is crazy.
Koumas would not get in any of the "top six" teams.
Lets Just give him and others time to develop.
17 Oct 2026 17:27:25
Isak will score goals. His output is not a problem but he stifles out every other attacking outlet because he will always be in the centre. He doesn't press and tue movement of the ball is just not there.
He will still score when he starts but we will score more whenever he doesn't start.
17 Oct 2026 22:42:45
We do realise that Chester is 15 miles at most from Wrexham where the Koumas family run a chippy and have done for some time. Do you not think he spent a little time around Welsh culture? Or do you think the doors shut for him when he was born. Such a pedantic argument.
18 Oct 2026 14:15:59
He chose Wales because it is easier to get in their team.
15 Oct 2026 09:43:58
I know it was only LASK but I was very impressed with some of Barcolas tricks and skills Yesterday, that 1st touch to score his 2nd and that one nutmeg where he roled the ball through was filthy, I also loved his reaction when Koumas scored! If Koumas can work on his composure we have a really good youngster on our hands too. He has been around for so long i was surprised he just turned 21!
On another topic, why do Man United play on Sunday when they played on Tuesday and we play on Saturday when we played yesterday?? Its beyond stupid, equal opportunities and all? Just moronic to handicap certain teams this way.
15 Oct 2026 10:06:10
Barcola played with that arrogance that a player of his ability should play with.
If we could get Wirtz, Isak, Szob, Grav, Rio to play with the same arrogance we'd be some team.
There really is so much ability in our team I think a lot of people are underestimating just how good we could be.
15 Oct 2026 10:13:23
ASB it's because we play in the Champions League on Tuesday. Not ideal scheduling but it is what it is.
15 Oct 2026 10:47:05
Whisper it quietly, but Trey and Tsimikas (and even Frimpong) did a decent job of feeding our forwards last night.
15 Oct 2026 11:26:28
I reckon Hull, Leeds & Ipswich will have been sweating over that perfomance last night.
Only a matter of time before Liverpool pull clear of these in the league.
All joking aside was great to watch the team back to winning ways.
15 Oct 2026 15:40:21
I think Koumas's composure was fine, it was more about timing is runs a tiny bit better. He scored all 3 when given the chance but 2 were offside!
15 Oct 2026 16:43:06
Well said Rio.
15 Oct 2026 18:06:25
I just wish some of these young whippersnappers would pull their socks up and put shin pads on.
15 Oct 2026 22:06:26
What do modern day footballers need shin pads for? A lot cheaper to collapse on the floor and roll around at the first sign of someone looking like they may make a tackle.
