Regarding the managerial situation, the club are still willing to give Slot some more time to try and turn this around. But things must change quickly before a decision has to be made.

Klopp is not, and will not, be an option. We don’t want to take any steps backwards, nor does Klopp want to return to club management - as has been the reason why he has rejected a plethora of elite European clubs in the last 12 months.

If the club needs to make a mid season change, it’s quite likely we will see an interim in charge until we find someone we want for the long haul. Thankfully, like Carra said, there a handful of world class managers willing and ready to leave their posts if the opportunity arises.

26 Oct 2025 14:04:39
Not that I watch any other league, other than Xabi and Enrique, both unlikely to leave - who are the other world class managers around?

Inside the PL it has to be Iraola if Slot can’t turn things around, which I really hope he can!

26 Oct 2025 14:15:08
Interim, like who?

Please name these world class managers who are waiting patiently in line.

26 Oct 2025 15:07:07
Van Bronckhorst? ?.

26 Oct 2025 15:13:38
I’d be interested in terms of the names of the elite managers, I think we are in the middle stages of a lot of very good managers turning into elite but very few are at that stage yet.

In the league Glasner and Iraola look like they are on their way to being very good coaches maybe on their way to joining that elite group in the next stage of their careers. Then abroad you probably have Enrique from PSG, Alonso looks ok but still interested to see how he gets on at Madrid.

Slot needs to find a way to adapt and overcome or he could be out on his ear by Christmas. Any manager would be looking at that team we have and kicking their lips.

26 Oct 2025 15:57:07
@KingKen77. Pretty difficult that. 'Kicking their lips! '

sorry just trying to lighten the mood.

26 Oct 2025 16:04:35
Guardiola will be available soon.

26 Oct 2025 16:19:45
Haha certainly mate, and definitely needed atm.

Very frustrating to watch the reds atm so need all the light hearted banter we can get.

26 Oct 2025 16:49:50
Just for ghits and siggles .

Gerrard as interim?! ?

Let's put that grenade in the room.

26 Oct 2025 17:12:08
Both Ireola and Glasners contracts are up in summer so a stop gap might work if either of them were in frame.

26 Oct 2025 17:25:32
Wouldn’t want Gerrard anywhere near the job. He’d be as bad as Hodgson.

26 Oct 2025 17:31:55
I don't easily see a world where this club sacks Slot to bring an interim in until Iraola is ready - what would it achieve?
Slot has earnt a poor season after the last, especially as the purchases were not all of his own choosing.

On the flip side, whining about long balls, low blocks and throwing some players under the bus is amatuer leadership and if he can't find a way to win with those players, however ugly it may be, maybe he simply just isn't as great as everyone says he was, after all, a couple of seasons in a farmers league means very little on the big stage.

26 Oct 2025 17:51:21
Dr Banana, if we were learning something from the defeats and signs of improvement were visible it would be easier to argue against sacking, but as things stand there’s absolutely no sign that’s happening. If the same performance and tactical set up happens against Villa, then Slot will have hoist himself on his own petard.

26 Oct 2025 17:54:59
I think it'd be a mistake bringing in Glasner or Ireola just because they've done well with their current clubs. A Club the size of Liverpool needs a well respected, world class manager who superstar players look up to and will run their socks off for, someone with a strong character and good man management.

We'll become a revolving door for 'up and coming' managers if we go down that route and Slot could be the start of it.

26 Oct 2025 18:05:29
I’d quite like nagelsmann. I think he’d be up for the job and bring order to the team and platform wirtz. I actually think a managerial change could do the club some good. A new manager would be able to drop senior figures who have been underperforming and see things afresh. I’m losing faith in the way slot is constantly chopping and changing and putting out different panicked lineups every week.

He made big mistakes in the summer instructing the recruiters to buy attacking fullbacks when we had zero defensive minded midfielders and the balance is completely off. I’m worried about signing Wharton too as that’s just another midfielder with no legs who makes risky passes. We have enough tracking talent, we need guys that can carry the piano.

26 Oct 2025 18:23:28
Of all the managers in world football right now, I would take Diego Simeone. We don't need or want some boring tactical analyst, we need emotion, we need passion and intensity, basically we need someone that will scream when a player gives 99% because it's not good enough for our club.

As we are seeing recently, it doesn't matter how talented your players are. If you don't care, you don't succeed. I think Slot can be a great manager and has already succeeded with us, but is he the type of character that can turn something like this around? I have my doubts.

26 Oct 2025 18:24:54
I’d want a manager with premier league experience, this league is fairly unique.

26 Oct 2025 18:37:07
imagine the scenario, that a former premier league winning manager was to become available and was not going to cost anything in compensation. and then imagine that he knew the players and the club etc. Sounds like we would be all over him!

Take a breath people! We have a winner at the helm. I would give him the rest of this season and I would take a couple of cup runs and still bask in the glory of the 24/ 25 Premier League. Perhaps if we had not won the league then there might be cause for concern. Add in the fact that the squad has been completely overhauled. He got rid of most players that everyone here wanted out and brought in top TOP players and lost Jota!

We are Liverpool. We enjoy success and never stop supporting the club!

26 Oct 2025 18:51:58
who are considered "world class managers" who would leave their current situation for Liverpool? Enrique? Guardiola? Ancelotti? Can't see any of them leaving their current situations for us. I know there are other "world class managers", curious who you all think Carra and VG could be talking about.

26 Oct 2025 19:01:47
If you think of where we’ve spent our money, and who those players may respond to then someone high profile with success from Germany may be safest route.

Aside from that I’d agree the league is uniquely demanding and competitive so a tried and tested premier winner would be nice. Problem is only a few winners other than Slot in the last decade, and they’re not coming to us much as we may like the idea.

That leaves us with former players who get the club but unproven managerial wise, wild card no links but high profile like Ancelloti, or higher risk young coach like Iraola.

Only a big name winner would appease the fans and take heat off Hughes and co.

26 Oct 2025 19:02:14
Amorim, Ten Haag, Solskjaer - there are heaps of them out there ….

26 Oct 2025 19:05:36
I would never want Diego Simeone that football would be so poor to watch.
I would take Gerrard till the summer if we could get Iraola in the summer.
Don’t knock Gerrard I think he knows his limits so then it’s just getting the right staff around him. Dalglish did that he used Paisley when he came manger.

26 Oct 2025 19:06:24
How many losses is enough? Playing like this I reckon we lose 6 of our next 8 fixtures easily

Get rid of him. He’s refusing to change, so change it for Him.

26 Oct 2025 19:31:10
Can’t believe we are talking about jettisoning a manager who won the league six months ago, what has happened to this club and their fans?
LFC had a horrible season after losing the league on the last day and a CL final, but were in the hunt until the last few games of the following season and won the league the year after. City didn’t pull the trigger last season on Pep even though they flopped, Arsenal didn’t sack Arteta even though they probably should have done better the last couple of seasons, are we now MU?
We bought in practically a whole new team in the last two seasons, last season, even the owners must have been surprised we won the league. Everyone needs to calm down, there are problems, no doubt about that, the new players are not squad players, they were all bought to start in the first team straight away because they needed to.

Let’s not forget Fabinho and Robbo spent 6 months in the reserves before they became established starters, we didn’t have that luxury with Frimpong/ Wirtz/ Eliteke/ Isak. It’s a whole new team bar Ali/ VVD/ Salah/ Robbo since the last great team. Mac’s injury, Jota’s passing, TAA/ Luiz’s leaving, Salah’s age along with so many incomings mean this was always going to be a challenging season. But the new players are quality, and young, with a better CB in January and a few tweaks, this team, manager included has the potential to be great. LFC is not a club to make rash decisions, it is to well run. So chill out, consider this the transition year we expected last year, and wait for the team to as Skankly said, go off like a great bloody bomb in the sky.

26 Oct 2025 20:54:53
Absolutely agree with your first paragraph @D-day. Society has changed since the arrival of computers and social media. Short term, instant gratification is the order of the day now.

Football has also undergone a massive “evolution” for want of a better word and is now a business and not a game anymore and, at the elite level is a PR flagship for dodgy conglomerates and thinly veiled state business and political leverage.

Since we picked up the title we have won 8 of our 14 competitive matches so it makes sense to show the manager the door. Ironic that we wanted new players and the club spent a record amount (for almost everybody) 3 months ago. Like I say, we don’t like the new toys so we throw everything out and demand the ‘next big thing’.

26 Oct 2025 22:03:21
interim sounds like a frikken disaster.

crucial time for the club.

I hope we hold our nerve

A move like appointing an interim after splashing half a billion dollars, to then bring a new manager in next summer sounds like a decade of mediocrity and uncertainty is on the way.

27 Oct 2025 00:38:16
Four straight league defeats with no signs of improvement in any of them. How many defeats are palatable before it becomes an issue? This isn’t going to improve anytime soon and to think otherwise is delusional as nothing is going to change.

27 Oct 2025 03:28:25
Defeats are never palatable, and four in a row will be an issue for any club, particularly one with aspirations of winning the league. But you don’t through the baby out with the bath water.

Of course it can change, maybe we won’t win the league, at the start of last season you would have been called delusional if you said LFC would win the league, but they did, because they played well under Slot and MC/ Arsenal had some very unpalatable defeats, did they sack their managers?

27 Oct 2025 03:41:07
Is Frikken available though?

27 Oct 2025 04:30:26
The suggestion of simeone is quite frankly ridiculous lol, I don't even know where to start with that one.

27 Oct 2025 04:40:17
All these seers and prophets decreeing nothing is going to change. You should all be managers, no financial advisers.

Put your skills to better use.

27 Oct 2025 06:20:49
Simeone would be a disaster. We diss Arteta for being "simeone-lite" then we suggest that we go and get the original instead. He's also, I believe, the highest paid manager in football right now so I doubt he'd want to live a cushy job where he doesn't need to win anything to one where he is under pressure to win.

Iraola would be my top choice but I wouldn't say no to Flick or Enrique too. Not sure if they'd be willing to join us but they are all good managers who I think would make full use of our very good squad.

27 Oct 2025 07:44:34
StEtienne it’s fair and reasonable to say that nothing is going change for a number of reasons, there’s no sign that any lessons are being learnt, we’re still going out with the same set up which is a gift for our opponents, we’re still making the same mistakes, we’re still giving opponents soft goals, we’re weak in midfield, sloppy in defence and barely registering shot on target let alone scoring.

There been absolutely no improvement of any kind in any of the matches in defence or midfield. Disregarding the league cup game against palace, can you honestly see us winning, or even just not losing, any of the games against Villa, Madrid or City? Because the evidence doesn’t suggest we will and you’d delusional to think otherwise.

27 Oct 2025 08:49:55
I can see us winning everyone of those matches, whether we will is a different matter.
Regarding the defence, 3 of the 5 are new, Ali is injured and our 2 CBs are in bad form, who would you pick in their stead mastermind? Bar Robbo, who was showing clear signs of degradation last season, and whom everyone was calling for a replacement, I don’t see who else can be picked.
Injuries to Mac and Grav have not helped, who would you pick in midfield, Endo?
Salah is clearly out of form, deserves to be dropped, then he shows a moment of magic and you remember why it is he is being picked. I really like Chiesa, but is he capable of doing it for a full match? Or is he better coming on late? From what I’ve seen, it’s the latter. Then we have Isak, the saga of the summer and now injured, would you leave him and Wirtz on the bench? The owners would surely be asking why you would do that.

I’ve seen loons asking why Slot brought off Wirtz and brought on Gomez when we needed a goal against BFC, how is this possible? The workings of a mad manager. Of course they didn’t acknowledge that by doing that it released Dom from the defence and allowed him to set up Mo for the goal. Terrible manager decision I tells ya.
If you replace Slot, no doubt you know best who with, the new manager is going to have the same problem getting this team of fantastic individuals to be a fantastic team. After a year and a bit of trying, if we are not top of the league, will you be calling for his head?

27 Oct 2025 08:53:05
To be fair Vik, none of those teams are sit back and counter, super physical and set piece reliant teams. We do much better against teams that have the ball on the floor. Villa also have a lack of pace and width, they might have beaten City with a sit back and counter approach but they are not especially good at that.

I fear Palace much much more than I do the three teams you named, though of course it has to be remembered that Mbappe and Haaland are in frightening form at the moment.

27 Oct 2025 09:12:34
We won last year, so that means we can be absolutely rubbish this year does it? Not a chance, the results, tactics and effort just aren't there, so things have to change.

Things have continued to drop since about February, we have gone from 1st to 7th in no time. And with the games coming up, I unfortunately see us dropping further. Things need to change NOW and telling people to just chill out is laughable.

27 Oct 2025 08:57:59
Say we play the next 4 games and come out with nothing what’s people’s thoughts then on Slot as manager?

27 Oct 2025 11:11:46
@PB, to be honest I think Gerard would be more ridiculous than Simeone.

27 Oct 2025 11:21:34
Out of interest @Thingofbeauty, were you one of the people calling for Klopp to be sacked during the 22/ 23 season when the team/ results fell off a cliff and things seemed to be getting worse rather than better? Or did you think, no, there are reasons for this, principly the brilliant midfielders we relied on for a couple of seasons had run their course?
I suspect you might be in the former.

Adjust your focus out a bit and look at what happened this summer, the team is changing, not one player, practically half the first team, and the way they play. Who do you think is going to come in and sort the team, and why are you so sure he can do it more effectively?

27 Oct 2025 12:03:27
I can't believe we are discussing that Slot should go. I agree with a lot of what you have said D-day (although you make some valid points VV) .

My own predictions before the start of the season were that Man Utd would get top 4 and the most likely team they would push out are Chelsea or (hopefully not) Liverpool. My other thought was that if we are lucky enough to still be in a cup towards the end of the season that we would stand a good chance of going on to win it.

The number of new starters, along with the people we have lost, it was always going to be difficult. When we were lucky in winning the first 5 matches I thought it looked more likely we would maintain top 4. We've been a bit unlucky to have lost the next 4 so it's back in the balance.

But to be discussing getting rid of the manager! I honestly thought we were better than that.

27 Oct 2025 13:24:53
There is a good argument in cases for both retaining or dismissing Slot.
On one hand we have a manager who won us the league last season who everyone was lauding for doing a great job, who several times last season made mid game tactical changes to get us victories.
On the other hand we are looking at very poor performances since February and we have been very fortunate to get the wins we have this season and in some games Ali saved us from worse. Things are not getting much better and we seem to be playing with no identity and players look lost on what exactly they are supposed to be doing.

If anyone can say exactly what our tactics are then I’d like to hear. Slow passing around the back and then complaining about a low block….
Losing 4 league games in a row would be something that you’d expect from a side at bottom of table not something you’d expect from title challengers/ winners.
Hopefully for us and him slot turns this around but anyone who isn’t questioning him must be watching different games to me over past 6 months of football.

27 Oct 2025 13:54:48
Interim, like who?

Big Ron.

{Ed025's Note - well Dyche has been snapped up now.. :)

27 Oct 2025 14:19:22
D Day, I get what you are saying ref bringing on Gomez so Dom is can move from right back and go back to midfield,
well I have mentioned it be4, its crazy to even put Dom at full back, for two reasons, one, he is keeping this team together mostly by himself, two, Bradley is either injured or fails to play the 90 minute's,
Slot take more notes,
Bring in a solid right back who will stay and hold his position, so Kerkev can bomb up and down the left side, isn't that why we brought him in, that one transfer would solve a whole lot of problems,
Also pay whatever it takes to bring Guehi in, he would steady the back line,
Bring in a combative midfielder who will fight for liverpool,
Slot, do something positive, you are losing fans, we definitely don't want you losing the dressing room.

27 Oct 2025 15:51:40
Can't get myself away from the plan was 3CBs (VVD, Guehi and Konate) Frimpong and Kerkez as Wingbacks with a Double Pivot in the middle Wirtz behind a front 2 of (Perm any 2 of Isak/ Salah/ Ekitike/ Gakpo) that change in style would have meant that we wouldn't have had wide forwards having to track back (which in the current setup they don't) and the defensive frailties of the Wingbacks wouldn't be as badly exposed as they are in a back 4. I think it's the plan that Wirtz was sold by Spot, allows him play to his strengths, and Salah and Gakpo (if playing alongside Ekitike or Isak) playing narrower wouldn't make us so predictable going forward, the inverted wingers we have don't have the skillsets to mix things up (both being overly one footed)

Our biggest issues at the moment are the forwards aren't the pressing type leading the midfield and fullbacks massively exposed.

As fun as the links to Semenyo are, we need 1 if not 2 CBs in Jan, similar to how we needed 2 in Jan 2021, but for different reasons, we haven't got the players to play 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1.

27 Oct 2025 16:11:01
This is exactly what I thought was going to happen.
When we signed Fringpom and Kerkez I thought we are definitely going to go with wingbacks and play Wirtz as a 10 Behind two narrower forwards.
Obviously missing out on Guehi and Leoni's injuries have changed things.

27 Oct 2025 16:37:00
I think I’m backing Carra with this one, ‘more time’ basically means not Sacking him today.

Klopp was never going to come back so that’s a pointless argument by folks.

Interim manager would be the most sensible option, Zidane? He can take the French job after the World Cup too then.

Can’t see slot making Christmas at this rate. People will argue ‘FSG don’t do things impulsively’, nor do they spend a fortune and not expect some sort of return on their investment!

27 Oct 2025 19:40:29
They got a massive return when LFC won the league in Slot’s first season, you now think they want to admit they made a mistake in appointing Arne Slot? Give me a break.

FSG are seasoned sports owners who bought into the moneyball philosophy, they know far more about owning giant clubs than any of the rest of us. I can only guess that having pulled this club out of the gutter and restored it to top tier of domestic and European football, they would only sack the manager if they were certain that another manager could do better, and is available, if you know who that is, enlighten us.

27 Oct 2025 20:10:17
D-day, OP said as did Carra that many top level managers would be interested. As for doing better, Slot has 26 out of the last 51 points. 6 league defeats in the last 13 games. Add in CL and CS that's 8 in 15.

As for the team changing a lot of players, the team that lost to man u and also to Chelsea, we had only 2 new outfield players in. Not exactly a lot of changes. I would argue average or even less than average compared to other teams. Arsenal fielded 3 new players in both their wins at Fulham and at home to Palace this last weekend.

We added players that have improved the squad. Klopp never had such luxuries unfortunately for him. This is 100% on the coach and his staff.

27 Oct 2025 23:39:49
You left out the Carabao Cup win, Red_Flyer69.

28 Oct 2025 06:05:48
So many clueless posts.

D-day I’m with you mate. They are giving Slot more time because they’re not stupid. Slot won the league last year which tells you he’s a very good manager. All managers have bad spells just like players do. If we’d Sacked Mo Salah after he’d had a bad run of 5 games he’d have only been with us for a year and wouldn’t be the legend he became.

I’m just a frustrated as anyone with the recent run but to trust Slot with all of the investment in the summer and then sack him in October it’s just asking for trouble. Then what? We join the manager merry go round with Utd, Spurs and Forest? You lot are completely off your rockers!

There’s just no patience left in football fans these days. Things will improve. Of course they will. It all feels doom and gloom right now because we are in the midst of a terrible run but sacking the manager is not the answer. In fact it would take us backwards.

28 Oct 2025 08:18:27
How fast fans forget that they were singing Slot praises when he was so far ahead in the prem league race last season. Of course, we brought in quite a number of 'quality' signings but if you watch football long enough, just buying players in is not the recipe for success. Often they need time to gel, to find that chemistry within the team. Funny that we bought Kerkez who was said to be one of the best left backs in the Prem League last season, and he's struggling in our team and then we have Ekitike, someone who has zero prem league experience and he is currently doing better than Isak and Salah in terms of scoring goals.

While Slot has to sort himself and the team out, I as a fan am truly disappointed by our bad form. It's not just the bad form but overall bad performance that we put in this season. The first 5 games, we did win but we were not convincing. I thought that the international break would offer us a chance to work things out but seems like our bad patch is still following us.

I think Slot will turn things around, hopefully it's not too late when he does that. We need to back our manager and players. Mocking them, calling for their heads will not help in any way, well, at least not yet. I think Slot earned the chance to have more time to polish his new team. Yes, he spent a lot but again spending doesn't automatically means success. Go ask Chelsea about that.

28 Oct 2025 09:12:33
There are talks scheduled to extend the contract of Slot beyond 2027, but if our losing streak is extended by much more then those talks will not take place. That is not to say he would be sacked.

28 Oct 2025 10:36:44
reading these pages must be what it's like to have been supporting manU, Chelsea, Spurs the last decade or so.

28 Oct 2025 10:38:24
@Ron, I disagree - both Klopp and Slot had no prior experience of managing in the PL but both managed to win the league. Not really sure what the difference is in leagues if you are a top notch manager (or head coach as the recent trend has it) .

28 Oct 2025 13:04:59
@d-day, perhaps read the post for what it is, not what you think it is maybe?
Did I once mention getting rid of anyone?
Nope, not once.

Did I call for Klopp to be shifted. Nope, not once. The man was, and is an absolute legend
He came with credit at least, he had credit that was already banked with performances with previous clubs
I did mention tactics, effort etc, and that I'm sorry, can't be ignored.
How many times have we gone behind in a game in the last half season? Quite a few
And more often than not, what is the response. Utter panic! Simply throw anyone and everyone on in hope by some miracle we can get back into the game.

THAT is what was meant in my post. Am I annoyed at performances lately? Yep, sure am. It's because it simply seems a case of deja vu each and every week

If I had seen a game where things seemed to be improving that would be something. But there isn't
The champions league game doesn't count. That just gave some fans false hope
The game was woeful again until Ekitike's blinding goal. The game changed from that moment
Confidence is down, effort is down, tactics are way down.

Perhaps stop judging people what you think people are saying and maybe hold the judgement.

28 Oct 2025 15:36:16
Agreed with a lot of what D-Day is saying, especially the many changes Slot had to deal with.
But, he knows them during pre-season too.
And Robbo over Kerkez will reduce 1 change and give Kerkez time to adapt. In fact, keeping Bradley and Robbo would mean no change to defence, except enforced one thorugh Ali. Even Gomez at RB will reduce tha amount of getting used to that everybody is talking about.

Salah has no leg left, doesn't track back or help out defence enough.
We can drop him, or play him with additional help fro Bradley on the right. Not just pray that Salah will attack that flank so much that Bradley will automatically be protected.

Gakpo has been producing output, but not performance.
Not ideal, a far downgrade from Diaz.

If Isak is ready, he is ready and play him.
If not, stick with Ekitike.

The problem with Wirtz is that we are almost like having 2 Salahs, players who simply do not provide protection to the back.

My thoughts?
3-5-2 is great, but we do not have 1 more centre back, and I simply do not trust Kerkez. His positioning is constantly off, and he plays like someone in Sunday league, relying soley on this speed to attack, to recover, to tackle and etc.

I have chosen my defence (without Kerkez) .
I would do a 4-3-1-2

Mamardashvili (Till Ali is back. ALi is still streets ahead)
Bradley/ Gomez - Konate VVD - Roboo
Szobo Grav Macca/ Jones
Wirtz
Salah/ Isak (when Fit) Ekitike

Or 4-3-3

Bradley/ Gomez - Konate VVD - Roboo
Szobo Grav Macca/ Jones
Salah Isak/ Ekitike Ekitike/ Gakpo.

28 Oct 2025 17:14:45
@WWIV

Klopp won the league in his 5th season at LFC.
They finished 8th in his first season.

I would say it took him some time to compete in the league, in his first 3 seasons he finished 8th, 4th and 4th. Unless you’d be happy with those finishes for the next 3 seasons?

{Ed025's Note - yeah he inherited a bag of crap compared to what Slot came into Ron..

28 Oct 2025 18:30:42
Slot has struggled with low block/ long ball at Feyenoord as well, it’s a bit worrying since this isn’t a recent thing, the rest of the prem just figured it out.

He must adapt or this will continue. Personally I just want him to study what Alonso did at Leverkusen, this would unlock Wirtz as well. I really think Wirtz is a generational baller, he’s just a unique player that you have to construct your formation around his weaknesses, which we haven’t done yet.

28 Oct 2025 19:16:06
“Klopp a step backwards” utter crap. I hate this notion you can’t back to someone as if it’s some sort of step down. It’s clearly unlikely Klopp would want to return but the bottom line is if Klopp is available it’s a no brainer.

29 Oct 2025 02:55:00
The only interim I would accept would be Klopp.

Or maybe Roberto di matteo.

29 Oct 2025 04:51:41
Players turn up when they feel like it, namely the Arsenal game which everyone conveniently overlooks when reviewing the last 14 games. Clean sheet as well! So yes, there is recent evidence Slot can “change”.

I fear Virgil’s laissez-faire approach is contagious, as for his PMA request, maybe look in the mirror and help Kerkez rather than destroy a young player who is a naturally attacking full-back. Kerkez is definitely not a player Slot wanted, thought.

Georgian keeper is a big mistake. He is not good enough to be Alisson’s replacement which makes him an extremely expensive #2.

Frimpong, barely injured in 5 years. Now he cannot stay fit. Bradley cannot stay fit. What are our fitness team doing?

Konate’s head is in Madrid. Poor mental attitude.

I will say it again, VVD is not a Liverpool captain. His attitude stinks up the place, for someone his size, he should be the most intimidating player in the side, way too casual and timid with opposition.

Finally, who thought it was a goal d idea to sign the Newcastle crock? We wanted an Andy Cole and got Andy Carroll all over again.

But it is all Slot’s fault.

Two strikers left, one tragically died, and you are asking whose idea it was to sign one of the best strikers in the world, with premiership experience?

I agree with you about Konate, he seems to have left already, it was shameful to see him give trying to catch the BFC striker at the weekend.

Frimpong spent time in City’s academy, but the last few years in a less intensive league. The Premiership is a huge step up in intensity, not a surprise he is taking time to adjust and picking up niggles, he isn’t the first.

Marma looks to me to be an excellent keeper, albeit not on Ali’s level, I don’t know any who are. You are not going to get an elite keeper coming to a team where the world’s best is between the posts. We are now lucky to have him.

You don’t have to shout to show authority, a lot of those who do shout, do so because no one takes any heed of them. Virg has always projected calm, that’s his nature. Apart fro Dom, who also doesn’t seem to be a shouter, who do you think should be captain?

{Ed001's Note - what do you see in Mamardashvili? I would love to think he is excellent, but I have yet to see anything but an indecisive, slow across the ground keeper who panics when the ball is at his feet. He doesn't command his box or organise the defence. He dithers and fails to deal with crosses, set-pieces and long throws. And I have yet to see anything special in terms of keeping the ball out of the net, particularly in one on ones. So what makes him excellent? I really want to know what we spent the money for!}

Firstly, as I said earlier, you are not going to attract an elite level keeper to understudy one of the best, if not the best keeper in the world. It just isn’t going to happen. So, you try an get the best you can in the understudy category, for that, he is excellent and I think a step up on Kelleher.
He is playing his first games in a league where balls are launched into the box and he is getting used to the physicality associated with that. Most keepers coming into the PL from abroad take time to adapt to that. Pep the top exponent of the ball-at-the-feet keeper had now gone away from that to focus on a shot stopper, perhaps he now thinks keeping the ball out of the net is actually the most important attribute for a keeper.

Yes, LFC have leaked goals since Ali got injured, but neither goalkeeper should be blamed for the shortcomings of those in front of them.
If Marma doesn’t work out and LFC go for someone better when Ali leaves, there is a good chance they will make a profit on Marma, but then they have to look for another excellent back up. We do not want to go back to the likes of that other Brazilian lad whose name escapes me.

D-Day,
While I could not totally blame Marma, I believed some of the goals would be saved by Allison.
And yes, I do not see anybody as good as Ali, Marma is quite far off. Kelleher level at best.
No problem with him as a 2nd choice.
But spending that kind of money, I would expected much better.

Ya, you can speculate if Ali might have saved them, if anyone could, it would probably be Ali. But a quick scan over the matches since the charity shield, LFC conceded 12 goals in the 8 and a bit matches Ali played before going off injured, the problem here is not with the keepers folks, it’s in front of them.
What did you expect waynechai? Who do you think is better and will sit on the bench? We got that other Brazilian bloke cheap, do you remember him? (Look up the highlights of Athletico in 2020).

Kelleher wanted to leave, he wasn’t going to be our number 1, but he was good enough to be *Brentford's. Marma is an experienced keeper, and if that’s what LFC had to pay, then so be it. Unlike a lot of back up keepers who are at the end of their careers or have been released by their previous clubs, this guy would have a significant resale value if it doesn’t work out.

I think Mamar has been poor for us in the games he has played. He has yet to keep a clean sheet, I think, and has not made any saves that I think he shouldn't have. He is an average keeper at best and I have a feeling that we bought him because his value was low at that time and we had intentions to "flip" him. He was poor at Valencia last season too.

And I don't get the part about Vvd being annoyed at Kerkez. Last season we were all raving about him showing his annoyance at Trent during the United game and somehow this season it's toxic behaviour. Besides, it's a competitive environment during games and it's very normal to shout at one another. I've experienced both shouting and being shouted at when I was competing too. But once the game ends, we're all back to being good team mates again. He's not hanging Kerkez out to dry but there is a function that Kerkez should be playing in the team that he isn't doing right now so Vvd is annoyed at that during games. Similar to how he was annoyed Trent last season. All very normal for me tbh.

Klopp will not manage again. Look at him, he had health issues and already looks better.

Hes involved with the game and gets to be so without the stress of management.
