One good thing about loosing is our manager had a excuse to drop players to bring in better ones now

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Gerrard, Lucas, Cissokho and too an extent Toure were the of form players. You think BR will drop Gerrard or Lucas?

Have you tried re-watching games we've lost this season. You'll notice haven't played as terrible as comments might suggest (with the obvious exception of Southampton).

Especially relative to how poor we have been in year's past `a la Konchesky Poulssen era

Agree0 Disagree0

What a stupid post, we have only lost 2 games, Arsenal and Southampton in which we were awful in both. What other games are you referring too? Even some of the games we won we have not played play especially in the second halfs.

Agree0 Disagree0

You can never find a red GUNN when you need one!

Rex, your reply just shows how ignorant you are. Weren't we knocked out of the Capital One cup by Man Utd?

04 Nov 2013 20:35:27
hey kopites, is your SAS already back in anfield?because last time I heard, they r loss in emirates.if u still can't find them, my advice is try to look in our cb's back pocket. yes, the 'error prone' koscielny and 'slow and immobile' mertesacker.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

You're a credit to arsenal fans everywhere Red Gunn. A few of your lot have been on this page and have been very gracious in victory, something I found quite refreshing but I suppose every football club has to have at least a few of your type.

Agree0 Disagree0

Erm. I'm pretty sure it was due to our midfield unable to get it through to them until coutinho came on. When he did suarez had quite of a few chances and hit the post on one occasion. Good dignified post though there mate!

Agree0 Disagree0

Give it a few weeks and you will be calling for Wenger's head again.

Agree0 Disagree0

My advice for you Red Goooon, is to take a little walk along Upper Street and enrol with the first "early learning" English centre you come across.

Good luck!

Agree0 Disagree0

Awh your aloud pick on other teams when ya win we done it to United haha may red gunn remember form is temporary class is permanent see who's laugh next time around

Agree0 Disagree0

A good bit of banter there from red gunn. Football take take football and jokes about football way to seriously!

He's not causing any harm. Poor fool thinks he can win a trophy this season

Agree0 Disagree0

You'll keep.

Let's see how cocky you are when we play you at Anfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

We did very well to keep your forwards quite Saturday and we are going to have to do even more to repeat the job come February,

I hope when the game gets here its another top of the table clash and the pundits are back tracking faster than the Southampton keeper trying to explain why they under estimated us both during the first half of the season.
I have to add I also hope we win that game too which puts us 10 points clear of you and 21 clear of the team in 3 rd.

Sorry lads if my football dreams come true you will have to settle for second place this time round

I don't believe for one second that Stevie is finished, or too slow, or not fit enough to play 90 minutes anymore. He's probably fitter than quite a lot of younger Prem players. His form the second half of last season was excellent, and he started 36 league matches, rarely being subbed. That being said, he's not been as good this season so far, and his positional discipline is leaving Lucas exposed. Maybe being left out for a couple of games would give him a bit of a kick up the arse. If we're continuing 3412 and Coutinho's fit enough to be the 1, then maybe Lucas and Henderson should line up in the centre for the next 2-3 games and then bring Stevie back in to see what his reaction is.

I also think we should bring Agger back into the team. He is the vice captain, and our best centre half. I know people have been saying "oh he has to EARN his place!", but how he's supposed to do that from the bench and with no Cup comp to rotate him in? Should Suarez have sat on the bench behind Aspas and earned his place when he came back from suspension? No. Of course not. He's our best forward, and likewise Agger's our best centre half, so it's time to bring him back in for either Toure or Skrtel. Unless we're going to try and find a way to play with 4 CBs, which would just be silly.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't believe any of our team are currently fit enough to finish in top 4 except maybe jordan.
I can't imagine brendon and colin being able to design good fitness sessions either, nothing to level paco used to :(

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would you not drop sakho for agger toure and skrtel both playing as good

Agree0 Disagree0

It`s not that simple, something red. BR sees the oys everyday and makes the choices so we`ll have to wait and see. I do agree that we have to start rotating a little bit.

Hi Ed. Can you please tell me or give a list of players that are mostly likely that Liverpool will attempt to get in January .

Thanks for doing such a great job {Ed002's Note - Read the posts please.}

Possible options for Defensive midfield folks? Fernando Reges, Maxime Gonalons, Sebastian Rode, Morgan Schneiderlin or Yann M'Vila all seem to be attainable/available targets. Here's hoping we show an interest in one of them.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Morgan schneiderlin and cabaye would do it for me obviously be to much changing and chopping and everything but still there the type of players were lacking and if we ever get in to the CL we need to players in our squad like those with the extra games anyways plus some our players aren't good enough with out naming names

Agree0 Disagree0

Jordan Rossiter

Agree0 Disagree0

Vlr makes a valid point, how many players "for the future" are we going to buy and then sit on the bench or play in the under 21 side? then get farmed out to clubs like Stoke/Sunderland until they lose the will to stay with us, or get moved on? some of the players linked with us gave the same answer " Liverpool didn't want me enough" correct me if I am wrong.

i get a funny feeling when BR says our squad is not strong enough.
my opinion is that fsg have backed BR and it was his choice to spend money on aspas, alberto, illori this summer none are starters.
alberto has quality but is young, ilori needs time.
we should have kept borini he a better player than aspas.
and I am not upset with gerrard for being slower than before, he 33 and he gave his hole carrier to us.
gerrard is football brain is still there but his legs are getting on its only normal.
how BR played flanagan is beyond me mclaughlin should be the next in line, flanno is not good enough.
i hope we we get a class midfielder in and if we have some extra money another striker.
against arsenal we did have a striker on the bench.
malta

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't understand your argument as our squad this year as started better than last. So obviously our squad as been strengthened on the evidence so far.

Agree0 Disagree0

Vlr, united won the league scoring 78, 50 of them scored by their 4 forwards, and 15 scored by defenders and only 13 from midfield . As you can see you don't need lots of goals from midfield to win the league, as long as they can create chances for the forwards and protect the back. we have more than enough goal scoring midfielders 7->8 from Gerrard, as many from Coutinho, Moses and Henderson and we should be fine, our defenders will chip in with few from set pieces etc. The form SAS are in they can score 50 between them 2 alone.

Agree0 Disagree0

What I tried to say mighty red is that BR brought in several players that won't be starters.br bought assaidi/aspas and borini and none made the team.
sahin/allen same story.
sakho is a great buy so are sturridge and coutinho.
assaidi/illori/alberto/aspas/borini/sahin/allen a lot of money spend on players not ready or clearly not good enough.last saturday coutinho was the only player in my eyes on the bench that could make a difference.

Agree0 Disagree0

Roy if you think 13 goals from midfield can win the league you are as crazy as a bat trying to hump a squirrel

Agree0 Disagree0

Allen got injured this time last year before his injury if was playing grate until October and will be back in the team soon

Agree0 Disagree0

And if the SAS become 1. Goals from where exactly.

Eds, I apologise in advance as I know just how many times you've answered this in the past. But just what exactly is Keisuke Honda's situation at the moment? Is he available and would we stand a chance of landing him in January? I feel he'd be ideal for us on a knock down price. Also gives us increased marketability in Asia too, which can only be good. {Ed002's Note - The answer remains exactly the same. He will be playing for AC Milan come January.}

Great to have coutihno back but does anyone think that he will solve our REAL MIDFIELD ISSUE /?/? We need some effing goals from our midfield! Stevie G bless him won't get us 15-20 goals this season, Hendo certainly won't, Moses might if he gets a decent run and can concentrate for 90 min. Lucas? I don't think so. All great players but no goals between them! We can't rely on SAS all the time. Come on Phillipe prove me wrong and bag some big goals. Loving the season so far and I hope to be this optimistic in January.

It's good to see Philippe Coutinho back on the pitch. I hope he can set aside a little money and buy himself a better toupee. {Ed002's Note - Kirikou is looking to do something about it. Refer to #WonderDogSparky.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Kirikou will have to do more than plump the cat. From behind, the toupee looks like a Tupperware lid.

Reading some of the Posts, I just want to say:

Our strongest formation is 4-4-2, the one signing we ought to make, among others, is Cabaye. He is creative, scores a fair number of goals and also has a bit of the devil in him! £15M should sort it!
This is all IMO, of course!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have to disagree with you mate, if we were to play 4-4-2, the first thing we would need to buy would be 2 quality wingers. We have no natural width in the forward areas and a 4-4-2 relies on wingers beating their man and putting crosses in the box.

We don't need any more central midfielders when we have Gerrard, Lucas, Henderson, Coutinho, Alberto and Allen.

Agree0 Disagree0

Alberto and Coutinho are forwards; playing the number 10 role doesn't make you a midfielder, no matter how it may look on formation graphics. Our midfield just isn't strong enough for what we want to achieve, particularly from a defensive point of view. We definitely need a new central midfielder, it's our most glaring weakness along with LB

Agree0 Disagree0

A 4-3-3 is the best I think. Suarez and Coutinho supporting Sturridge with 2 of Henderson, Allen or Gerrard in midfield with Lucas holding. In January, a defensive midfielder should be bought in.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the real AG, I feel either a 4-3-3 like described or a 4-2-3-1 would be the best formations and with a combination of either coutinho moses henderson and suarez behind sturridge. I feel that part of the reason why we got into this 3 cb situation at the start was due to the fact that it was the easy option at the time after the performances of toure and skrtel and the price tag of sakho for rodgers to play all 3. I do feel though that the way forward is with 4 at the back and I would love it if rodgers would pick his 2 best cbs and try 4 at the back again.

I sincerely hope the rumors about us agreeing a 5 million euros fee with barca for Reina is bull***t. He is worth way more than that, we should demand atleast 15 million euros from barca or tell them to stuff it. LFC are as big a club as barca and no way should we be entertaining such derogatory offers from them. Its either straight 15m euros cash atleast or a direct swap fro tello who wants out.

Liverpool as big as barca lol come off it mate, maybe 20 years ago tut tut

Agree0 Disagree0

Trev179, everyone has a different personnel definition of a 'big club' and no-one can give a definitive answer to an age long question. In many ways, Liverpool are a bigger club. in many ways, they're not. This argument would go on for bells. Anyway, I wouldn't take any reply seriously off someone that uses the term 'lol'.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Nov 2013 14:09:16
Well dave my apologies for my use of the offensive acronym "lol" but this is the internet after all, in what way are Liverpool a bigger club than barcelona? I'm not trying to start a fight or arguement just debate.

As an arsenal fan I would like to know how you think Liverpool are a bigger club than barcelona, you have a wonderful history and a fantastic fanbase so please don't take this question as a sign of disrespect to you dave or your club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ah the classic comment on people who use "lol".

i believe support from all around the world, titles domestic and european cups show we are at least on a level footing with barca and if you are going to say arsenal r bigger than us because they won the league more recently you are having a giraffe show us your european cup you got to keep because you won it that many times r even barcas european cup they got to keep because they won it 5 times.lol.lol.lol.lol

So it was the morning of the Manchester United game at Anfield and I was coming out of the shower putting my underwear on. The wife says to me "I see you're putting your lucky pants on then". "What are you after?" I ask. "No, you're lucky Liverpool pants which I bought you last Christmas, with the red waistband. You always wear them when Liverpool play".
She's lost me at this point, so I go and make coffee. That night she tries to claim it was the lucky pants which helped LFC win. So I protest as I don't believe in superstition. I make a point of not wearing the pants for the Swansea game, the league cup game and the Southampton game. At this point I panic and start wearing the pants for every LFC game.
Until Saturday when I woke up with a stinking hangover and completely forgot about the lucky pants. I realised whilst watching MOTD and I shout out "I forgot my lucky pants!".

So after enduring endless stick off the wife, I am duty bound to make a conscious effort to wear the lucky pants for every LFC match.
I'm sorry I let you down lads.

Ken

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Phew thanks Ken. And here I was contemplating possible personnel/formations errors and all along it was down to your undies!
But, I think I am actually to blame. Born and bred in Liverpool until 18 when I moved to Aus. That was in April 91, and I hate to admit it, but we haven't won the league since. I am so so sorry. If I knew then the impact my actions would have, I never would have left :(

Agree0 Disagree0

That's fine Ken but do you wash them in between matches? It could be the detergent!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ken, I have to ask. Do you wash them in between games, or are you a "throw them against the wall to see if they stick" man?

Agree0 Disagree0

You're right mate. Assaidi has always excited the fans by his runs. Probably the most positive player in our squad. I was sorry to see him go. Why buy a player you're not going to play? Or did we just bought him for the sake of buying a player? Can't wait for him to return. Would've been a great sub against Arsenal!

Agree0 Disagree0

Those askin if I wash them between games weren't reading my posts carefully enough. I have a wife.

Anyway, they'll be on for the Fulham game.

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably as well you forgot them, the Arse(nal) would have given you some serious skid mark problems last saturday.

fowlerisgod and fensh, thanks for the reply.
An I really do think assaidi can be a great player for us. He has only started 1 stoke game thus far, but has a goal and an assist. He is probably the quickest player on our books, and as for the end product comment, maybe you're right. i'm just a little shocked we let him out on loan, yet kept sterling, and brought in moses. I hope his loan has the effect of what wilshere had at Bolton.

He was in an out of our squad last year, yet I thought every time he got a chance on the pitch he showed a spark we have been lacking. Shows he's not going to just sit a mope. ill just say don't rule him out of Liverpool just yet.
