I don't care if rafa is camped outside melwood toasting marshmallows for fans. He is not the future. He is the past and it's best for fans to let him remain in the past.

Why is it that we forget that the style and quality of football under Rafa was actually pretty dull to watch.
Rafa will go down in Liverpool folklore for what he achieved in his first couple of seasons but I cannot say that we looked a major threat under him with regards to winning more trophies.

I do not see how people are calling Rafa? He bought two wingers in Babel and Gonzalez to float in balls to Torres and Cisse. How can you say he wanted to play dull football? The players did not work out but that alone shows me how he intended to play football, fast, direct and with style.

@Baz, Babel was hardly bought to float in balls. Fair enough Gonzalez could attempt to cross and float in a ball but Babel, no chance.

After Istanbul and the other trophies he won us and his contribution to the city think he does deserve respect from Liverpool fans. Have heard he did cause a lot of financial problems but tbh don't know much about finances and he made have wasted a lot of money but most our managers have, plus owners could have restricted his spending (imagine most managers will spend as much money as they deem fit - is budget that restricts).

He may not have played the most attacking football but did have great results under him (5-0 agg against real, 4-1 united, 3-1 olympiakos) and could actually defend, but don't think he should come back as a long term manager. If we have someone or a new structure lined up in a year's time and we need to get a manager in for a season then yeah Rafa would be a good choice if given a limited budget and to work with what we have, but tbf could say the same for BR.

But tbh think we need to look forward with getting a new manager in and not backwards, will always love Rafa and deserves respect from LFC fans but don't think he would be a good choice for the long term.

I am not saying that I want Rafa to take over now, but he HAS to be on any shortlist of potential candidates.
We were the number 1 ranked team in europe under him. He is a name to attract top players even when we aren't really classed as an elite club (in with a chance of the league each year and reaching the semi's of the champions league at least if not then the final itself.
I'll probably get replies about Alonso, defensive football etc. However, I would take the Rafa days back over this season and probably most of the seasons since he left (apart from last season).
We are in danger of drifting further away from that elite bracket of clubs.
We don't have a manager that seems to attract the top talent that is required.
After 3 seasons, we don't seem to still have an identity as a team. His reign so far can be summed op during the game against Villa.
Wrong tactics to start with, failed transfer policy that resulted in 3 strikers on the bench deemed not good enough and 3 forward positions in the team being filled with non-strikers.
Players being played out of position.
Confidence be ruined by being hauled off when not the worst player on the pitch.
Under Rafa we knew we were going to be tactically smart and strong. Most times I was confident of getting a result.
Now I'm not saying he didn't have his faults, but I'd rather be in the top 4 regularly and getting to the latter stages of the champions league each year than having to put up with this rubbish at the moment.
Also, he would be working under a different regime who can put restrictions of the areas he does not need to get involved in. They can even bring in their favoured DoF and he would have to work with that set-up.

How much money has Rogers wasted? let's not forget about the problems he also causes with his famed man-management style.
Mignolet would probably still be under the bus with Balotelli, Borini and Manquillo if Brad Jones had not got injured.
How about trying to off-load a player who is now almost nailed-on to be our next captain?

I could go on, but you get the picture

I don't want us to go back to Rafa particularly but I would prefer him to Rodgers. I honestly believe he would get top four with the current squad we have. As I say I would prefer us to for someone else but if it's a question of Rafa or Rodgers, it's Rafa everytime

23 Apr 2015 18:42:33
Why would you want someone to float balls in for Torres and Cisse hahaha fair enough if ya floating them in for drogba

So what about Rafa playing ngog instead of keane!

Another season we should have won the league

"Under Rafa we were. " That's all I hear. Memo to all: the word "were" is past tense and so is Rafa. As for respect, we all respect him for what he has done for us. We just don't want him back. As for being better than BR, that is not the argument and the bar is not that high comparison-wise
