When Suso was sold there was a lot of hue and cry but where is Suso now.I saw a lot of his loan performances for Almeria he was occasionally good but most of the time average and I never saw him putting a shift.
People are now talking in the same way about Ilori. I saw him in 2-3 games with Granada and then in 2 games with Bordeaux but he was always average.
Did not saw him in U21 tournment but then there is a lot of difference when a player comes to a senior team. I think Aston villa loan will do him a world of good. He is young and if he has the desire and quality and he proves himself he can still play with us. He is still our player and we have not sold him.
Ed's can you confirm whether Villa wanted to buy him or only loan him.

Agree5 Disagree5

You make some very good points, but as ed2 pointed out its the promise of game time then being sold is like being kicked in the potatoes. But I also think its wrong people speaking about Ilori as a world class CB, but as never had a chance to prove himself.

This is a stupid excuse in my eyes. When Liverpool FC buy players from mid table club, We come up with the same excuse of player would double his performance alongside good players and excellent training facilities. We change our skin when we Loan players.

The point is not how good or poor Ilori is, The point is how he has been treated given we have been conceeding goals for fun with the CB's we have with us.

Ilori might/might not fail at Liverpool but then rest of other CB's has been equally poor in past 3 games.

I would have given him a run of games at the club and I believe any other manager would have done the same thing.

Coates got more opportunities than Ilori is a very sad stat mate.

Suso was actually good while playing for Almeria. He had a few off field problems while there, but generally performed to a good level on the field for a young player.

02 Sep 2015 10:43:27
Kenny bought Coates though so to compare is wrong.

02 Sep 2015 10:49:04
Never has Harry spoken more sense.

02 Sep 2015 10:52:21
This treatment he's had must be terrible.

He must have had to pay his own medical bills or taken a wage cut. Poor lad, we should do a whip-round for him.

02 Sep 2015 10:52:41
Coates was at least given chances.

02 Sep 2015 11:52:46
Coates would have come good. he just needed a run of games in a stable defence in a regular pairing. Remember, Hansen was actually rejected initially by Liverpool and once accepted spent a while in the reserves because he wasn't good enough - and look how he turned out.

What we lack is transfer strategy, structuring and team planning. We shouldn't buy a player unless we know what we are going to do with him, what we want him for and why. All we're doing is buying anything that comes our way on the off chance it's what we need. It's a waste of time and money and not fair on the players themselves.

Ron Keague, have you ever had anyone dump on your dreams? It hurts no matter how much paper you get.

02 Sep 2015 12:24:08
Not really EG he came in because we were so badly hampered with Injuries in 2011/12 which resulted in carragher playing rightback.(notice this was under kenny's management too)

in 2012/13skrtel in his own words '' one of the worst seasons in my career and certainly the worst during my time at Liverpool.'' even then he only got 5 appearances and it was due to Brendan trying to phase out Carragher and refusing point blank to play him till Januaryish time, and once again injuries to players like Agger and Johnson. He got mainly substitute cameos from 80 minuts onwards to simply see off games.

These are not opportunities in the slightest for me. They are stop start appearances that regardless of the form he showed and Skrtels piss poor effort, still didn't show him getting near the team. He'd have been better off learning his trade playing on loan.

Phoinix, I've had plenty of knocks on my life. I've never been in such a privileged position as professional footballers though.
They have a very easy life by comparison to the people who fund their lifestyle.

02 Sep 2015 14:01:17
Ron and the school of hard knocks. haha

Not everything in this world is about money maybe earning so pitiful an amount compared to a footballer you should know this. Simply putting down a persons self actualisation and satisfaction to a simple monetary value is ridiculous.

02 Sep 2015 14:27:35
Putting words into my mouth their bob.

You can do better than that can't you?

if you knew any footballers and spoke to them about adjusting from being a footballer to an ex-footballer ; you'd know what a privileged life they lead. I'm not just talking financially.

02 Sep 2015 15:05:00
No ones putting words in any ones mouth,You judged a player as being privileged and having an easy life compared to the fan.

What makes them so priviliged? Do tell how you know exactly the difference from being a pro footballer to a guy ont he street is,if not just financially.

Tell me how that privilege worked for Rooney busting a nut in a granny, those leicester boys having their peckers posted on the internet,Sterling not being able to do something as trivial as enjoy some laughing gas, jack wilshere not being able to smokerooney getting that video posting of him being sparked, not being able to go to a casino and spend money because the papers will hound you as a gambling addict. etc etc.

There are advantages and disadvantages in work lives in any situation around the world. To say every footballer is priviliged is shocking. They work hard on the main to be where they are and posess abilities you certainly don't.

So tell me about these priviliges they have that means we can't feel bad for them oh and btw,one more thing go back and read your previous post in this thread that phoenix replied to,before saying you didn't mean financial priviliges

''He must have had to pay his own medical bills or taken a wage cut. Poor lad, we should do a whip-round for him.'' LOOKS a financially orientated privilige to me you're going on about.

02 Sep 2015 16:18:17
Bob, you want an argument. That's fine, but this is a banter site and I'm here for banter not a pointless argument.
You want to know why footballers are privileged compared to the average fan? Go and ask one, I'm not interested in feeding your trolling.
Xx

Ron I'm here for a debate mate, you along with Muscat have both shown your true colours today haven't you. You've both been defending your little bff for an age. And today you both put together 2 incomprehensive posts where you clearly haven't sat and thought about what you are writing.
He contradicts his argument on player judgement and now you having said disparaging remarks about a players income related to circumstances, then deny ever writing those remarks and their inference, it's embarrassing that the 2 staunchest BR defenders can't put together a single cohesive debate on different subject matter.

There's no trolling in this

Simple question did you write this:
''He must have had to pay his own medical bills or taken a wage cut. Poor lad, we should do a whip-round for him.''

Then write
Putting words into my mouth their bob.

You can do better than that can't you?

''if you knew any footballers and spoke to them about adjusting from being a footballer to an ex-footballer ; you'd know what a privileged life they lead. I'm not just talking financially''.

Stay on topic, Ron. We are talking about a player your BFF bought for 7m and no one has seen him play for us in going three years. Trashing him and calling him every name in the book just to justify your BFF not playing or wanting him shipped out is nothing but a distraction to others here in your pathetic attempt to divert the debate from the fact that, you really have NO logical arguments to support the case you`re making. If he is indeed not good enuff, who bought him? Your BFF. So if your BFF bought a poor player, shouldn`t that make him a poor manager with an inability to spot a talent or will the rules change again when judging him? No one called Ilori world class. All we are saying is that he should be given a chance especially with dumb and dumber farting all over the place at CB. He can`t be any worse, can he? So stop your pointless ramblings and dare I say, lies about his attitude and your disgraceful character assassination of the lad because you don`t know the kid nor have any info to debunk Ed`s info that the boy is a good boy and is liked within the club. Lying about him and his character says very little about him but an aweful lot about you, LOSER!

02 Sep 2015 19:40:06
Boba, they will end up entangling themselves like a pretzel with the way to continuously contort their rhetoric to defend their idol. It`s getting embarassing as to how low they will go. Trashing the boy`s character and attitude w/o ever meeting him nor reading about him is just disgraceful and shows you how desperate they are to make some sense and the more they try, the more they fail at it.
