It's really simple, Salah wants way more than the club want to or can afford to pay. If we agree to his wage demands we will be paying the same wage to a 35 year old at the end of his new contract. Salah is only great because he plays in a system that suits him and his skills. If he went anywhere else the team would not be built around him and he may struggle.
He is blackmailing the club and nobody is irreplaceable.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Mar 2022 18:16:45
I have disagree that he'd struggle if he left mate. Only places he might not hit the same heights in my opinion would be PSG, Man Utd or Bayern Munich. Because in any other teams they would make him the main man. Mbappe is the main msn at PSG though and even Messi has struggled with that. At United it's all about CR7, and in Munich it's all set up around Lewandowski. Even despite that you'd still back Salah to score at least 20 at any of those clubs.

I don't think we'd capitulate if Salah leaves, but i also won't try and convince myself that Salah would struggle everywhere else. Real Madrid (if they can't get Mbappe), Barcelona, Juventus or Man City for example would all adjust their system to him if he signed and he'd go and bang 30-40 a season for them too.

If you sign a player of Salah's calibre, unless you have equal/ better it'd be remiss not to alter the team to suit him because he's unreal.

{Ed0666's Note - I’m not sure Salah struggles anywhere to be honest. I can’t see a team where he wouldn’t make a positive difference.

26 Mar 2022 17:54:13
Do you remember Salah nutmugging 5 City players including their entire back line, Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez inside their own 6 yards box to score one of the best individual goal by a Liverpool player 😂😂😂. Which system was he representing 😆😆😆😆. He is the only attacker that will get into a City’s front line 😂😂😂😂. It’s that simple.
Excuse me Why did not Mr klopp built a system around Mr Mane 😆😆😆😆😆.

26 Mar 2022 18:43:40
Salah and the rest of the squad have been brilliant for us. We might only have 2 months left to enjoy quite a few of them as fans so we might as well enjoy the ride in that time.

The quadruple is the dream but I would be over the moon as a fan if we only end up winning one of the big ones Premier League or CL in the next 2 months. If I had a choice it would be the Premier League as I believe as fans and the players are still owed that open top bus.

Whoever goes in the summer the club will continue to operate and hopefully compete. It’s taken us 30 years to get back to the summit and ourselves and Utd and Arsenal etc have proven it doesn’t take long to fall off it.

As long as Klopp is in charge I am a far more confident fan.

26 Mar 2022 19:28:00
Harry you could maybe try and support the team instead of bashing them, team is set up around Salah? Awk please, give your head a wobble. Of course we'd miss Salah, but gone are the days where we were a one man team.

26 Mar 2022 19:08:53
I don't think so either 666. I just think he'd score less in those 3 teams i listed than for us, but not because he'd be playing worse or struggling. For one, they'd take away his penalties but i also just think its rare that 2 absolute top level stars come together and one of them doesn't end up making sacrifices. Look at Benzema now he's out of Ronaldo's shadow; belting goals in for fun now but you wouldn't say he struggled alongside Ronaldo, it was just a different role. Or look at Messi in Mbappes shadow; not really struggling when you look at how many goals/ assists he's still clocking up, but it's not his 40-60 goals a season he's used too.

Only time i've seen it happen where both players seemed to maintain their rate of scoring was Suarez and Messi. That was frightening. Salah will succeed wherever he goes but i think he'd be better going somewhere he will still be the main man if he chooses to leave. Can't agree with the OP that he'd struggle. 99% of teams would build around Salah.

{Ed0666's Note - even if you have the luxury of not having to build around Salah the guy will guarantee you world class performances more often than not, he really is that good! I think There’s not many teams he wouldn’t score the amount of goals he scores now with the exception of Bayern and Madrid like you so aptly mention mate. One thing for sure is we have a generational talent in our hands and I’m absolutely devastated that we may lose him. I would be so happy if he’d only had 2 years to run on his contract and after that we lose him for free. That would be more palatable as he’s not gonna get better the older he gets but the caveat to that was Portuguese Ronaldo he went to Madrid at 33 and broke footballing records for fun.

26 Mar 2022 20:39:56
Bashing lol. I am actually complimenting one of the greatest player ever to pull the shirt. Keep aside his numbers the man has missed only 5 ducking games in 4 season due to injuries.
Recall the game against Roma in the CL. One of the very best by a Liverpool player ever. System my arsenal. The guy is above and beyond any system.
Drop him and play Mane over there and persist with the system and let’s see what happens.

26 Mar 2022 20:44:27
De Bruyne Ruben Dias and Cancelo are the only city players who get in Liverpool’s team Harry!

26 Mar 2022 20:58:03
I've had a few beers guys, but I feel he has a greater impact in games since his Roma/ Chelsea days because we play such a high line and he always receives the ball at least halfway into oppositions half. Would he be so effective in a team that gives him the ball around d the halfway line?

26 Mar 2022 22:03:54
Bernardo Silva walks in with ease Scousenose 😀😀😀. Mahrez beats Jota and Foden beats Curtis Jones.

26 Mar 2022 23:02:52
Harry i do really like your passion but i have to question things like "Mahrez beats Jota" and "Foden beats Curtis Jones". Fine if you think that but it doesn't stack up for me.

1. Mahrez plays where Salah plays and you seem about ready to engage in lusty fornication with Salah today. Mahrez isn't even in the same postcode as Salah, good as he may be.
2. Jota has more goals than Mahrez anyway but fair enough, it's not outrageous to say Mahrez is better as goals aren't everything. I'd still say that's closer than you bluntly put it though.
3. Jones doesn't even start in our team so Foden being better is irrelevant to him starting in our team, surely?
4. Jones and Foden play different positions. Jones plays centre mid when he does play and Foden plays in the front 3 usually on the left. So even if Jones was in our best XI it would be a mute point in this debate. Foden would be up against Diaz, Mane and Grealish.
5. Bernardo would not necessarily walk into our team because he plays on the left of City's midfield 3. Although he plays it differently, that is where Thiago plays for us and maybe Bernardo is better in your opinion but it's certainly not a scenario where he "walks in" as you put it. I'd pick Thiago and i wouldn't mind betting Pep Guardiola would too!

Anyway, keep posting mate but maybe cut down on the laughing emojis because you're far to controversial at times to be mocking others! But keep up the controversy please because it does increase traffic on the site by driving debate and we all love conflicting opinions or we wouldn't be here!

26 Mar 2022 23:40:33
MK you’re very articulate and hands down my favourite poster but please do look up the difference between a moot point and a mute point.

Excellent debate here guys.

27 Mar 2022 03:41:22
I will make it simpler for you MK.
Bernardo plays on the right in our midfield. Foden and Mahrez beats our bench. In fact Foden starts over Mane. and Haaland starts over Bobby. Salah retains his place.
It doesn’t always needs to be the way we play. Have you seen the UEFA team of year? They pick the best individual.
🤗🤗🤗🤗.

27 Mar 2022 04:29:24
Mo has been a very important part of the squad - no doubt. When he leaves the squad will need to adapt. Again, no doubt. With Klopp in charge I’m pretty sure we will adapt.

As for Mo having the same role, hitting the same heights and all that stuff, who cares? The king is dead, long live the king.

27 Mar 2022 08:52:22
Foden starts over Mane? Well that would be 5 PL goals less then 🤔.

27 Mar 2022 09:10:42
Foden starts over mane? Haha hahahaha hahaha best joke I've ever seen on this site! Haaland starts over Bobby? Haaland doesn't play for city 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.

27 Mar 2022 09:26:34
If you ask Liverpool fans what City players get into their team / squad I’d imagine the numbers be quite low (some might say biased)

And if the shoe was on the other foot I’d bet that City fans would be the exact same with Liverpool players in their team / squad.

Would be extremely interesting though to see what team / squad Klopp and Pep would pick though if they were given that fantasy option.

I know at this stage though neither would pick Haaland as he’s not played for City since Keane’s tackle. Plus he was crap lol.

27 Mar 2022 09:49:44
I'm not so sure Salah is a big enough star for teams like Real Madrid etc to base their play around. He isn't a Ronaldo or a Messi etc. I mean nobody has come knocking down Liverpools door for Salah yet and his agent bless him hasn't got Salah the move he has craved for over the years. Off course being a relatively cheap quality player in the Summer will change things but I honestly can't see him being THE focal point of any team, not even PSG while Neymar is still there. Honestly I think he will regret leaving LFC.

27 Mar 2022 11:51:43
Ed0666
Ronaldo was 24 when he went to Madrid, not 33.

27 Mar 2022 12:37:58
At least when Salah leaves he will have 2 champions league medals and 2 premier league medals oh and an F. A cup one too! 😉.

27 Mar 2022 12:58:50
I remember when Salah dribbled his way through those City players and then whoever it was the next match. I also remember the dozens of times he dribbles straight into a defender and loses the ball.
I hope Salah stays, he is part of this era of Liverpool dominance but if he goes then I will celebrate the time he had with us and mourn nothing. Whether he goes on to do better or worse at his next club doesn't really concern me.
Also, I read somewhere mention that other clubs would make him the main man. Is he even the main man here? Is the team built around Mo?

27 Mar 2022 13:52:23
UEFA team of the year? Scaling the bottom of the barrel much? Foden starts over Mane? The fact that Harry thinks that shows you he does not watch Foden at all.

Throughout the last several games I have watched him, you don’t even know he is playing cos he hides in games. Example? The Palace game. You will never accuse Mane of hiding during games BUT it’s what Harry does all the time making such weird comparisons.

As for Salah, he won’t struggle wherever he goes cos that team will have to adapt to the way he plays to get the best out of him, IMO. It’s just the way it goes when you bring in world class talent.

27 Mar 2022 14:39:37
Imagine that Mo wants to leave. What then? What if no matter what he's offered he just fancies living somewhere else? No point bashing the club/ owners when nobody knows the exact figure that's been offered/ turned down. And anyway I'd much rather enjoy this fabulous team the club have built that have 1 trophy secured, are in with a shout of the other 3 on offer as well, than worry about contracts and other stuff that is way outside my knowledge.

27 Mar 2022 14:33:24
It would be interesting if he did go elsewhere and wasn't fed as much as he is with us. You see how frustrated he gets with himself and others if the ball doesn't reach him or he loses it. I understand that's the nature of anyone with an extremely competitive nature and professional sports people. I wonder if it affects his game - makes him better or desperate and angrier, and therefore worse? Thoughts anyone?

{Ed0666's Note - he thrives for perfection which is a tell tale sign of hunger and desire, like I said yesterday the man is a mercurial generational talent and if Ronaldo had a renaissance at 33 I don’t see why Salah cannot?

27 Mar 2022 14:35:40
Harry, Silva has never played right side of a midfield 3. Not every player can seamlessly switch sides. Early in the season when Elliott was playing on the right, Henderson played left and he really struggled to have the same impact. Your UEFA team analogy isn't relevant to a debate because you didn't say he gets in a combined XI, you said he walks into our team. So it does need to work for the context of this debate. I do think Henderson has been the weakest link in our best XI this season (looks like his legs are starting to go) but if i was picking a City midfielder to replace him i think i'll take De Bruyne who actually plays that side and is better than Silva in every aspect as a human and a footballer. Henderson hasn't been bad either, just not up to the levels he's been at since about 2013. He should step into a Milner-esque squad role going forward so we can get some young blood into our midfield.

Stoneage, thank you mate i genuinely had no idea but i'm glad you corrected me! Appreciate the compliment as well mate. Probably been posting too much lately as I'm stuck at home. I snapped my elbow the wrong way attempting a bicycle kick and had to have metal ends fitted to the shattered bones on top of ligament reconstruction 😂 not quite as graceful as Sadio Mane.

{Ed0666's Note - I’ve never heard of a snapped elbow sounds awkward hope you get well soon mate.

27 Mar 2022 15:29:34
Interesting thread. Harry I never said you were bashing Salah, but yhe team. I see truth not a strong point with you just twist the narrative yo suit the point your making. Alright then, truths:

- Foden doesn't get in or team over Mane or Diaz, please
- Silva has never played right side of a midfield 3 so again doesn't get in our team to play there
- Never really rated Mahrez that highly tbh, but would take Jota over him any day. He also plays in Salahs position though so no chance
- Dias is a cracking defender, would start beside VVD for me
- KDB has to start in midfield, the guy just oozes class

So I have 2 starting from the City team, they're a point ahead of us so hardly a gulf in class, maybe on this thread you forget you were a Liverpool fan again and thought you were on the City page again?

27 Mar 2022 15:54:34
How can you say Silva cannot play on the right? And if Silva is available klopp might actually use him differently like Elliot.

Now truths.
Bernardo Silva is a baller. Excellent in tight spaces. Can carry the ball effortlessly. Works his socks off without the ball. Has brilliant vision to pick a pass and equally good in front of the goal when given chances.
I get why you don’t like him but let’s not present.

27 Mar 2022 16:16:54
Harry, again read the post you reply to. I said 'Silva has never played on the right'. He hasn't. You reply 'how can you say Silva cannot play on the right'. Again, what?

KDB plays on the right, he would get into our team. Silva might be good, but is he better than Thiago? I don't think so, that's who he would replace in the Liverpool side. But again why let truths and facts get in the way, just be yourself Harry, argue different and wrong points like always, oh and try to remember you are on the Liverpool page these days snd are apparently a Liverpool fan again, not a City fan 🤣🤣🤣.

27 Mar 2022 16:29:55
Harry, you are moving the goalposts again for the upteenth time. Not a soul has said that Silva is not a baller nor is his footballing ability being criticised. You said he walks into our team on the right side of midfield, a position he doesn’t even play at City cos KDB plays there and some would prefer him or even Hendo over Silva cos both actually play that position.

The fact that you think a player would walk into another team in a position I’m he doesn’t even play for his current outfit, is the height of incoherence, IMO. And now that you have been pulled up on it, you now come with the irrelevant schstick about UEFA team if the year and lecturing us about Silva’s ability, cos yeah, none of us knew that b4 you mentioned it, lol.

It’s not about not liking or disliking a player. Cos u think a player can do certain things (things he is not doing currently) does NOT mean he would “walk into” another team over players that ARE actually doing those things. Be coherent, man. Peace and Love.

27 Mar 2022 17:36:53
What an utterly pointless debate about Silva, he’s never going to play for Liverpool.
Although, for the record, he has played extensively on the right midfield and further advanced for Man City in 2018 and 2019, I think De Bruyne may have been injured long-term.
So Harold is correct on that score.

27 Mar 2022 17:52:06
I said he walks into our midfield. Never said he plays on the right. Show me and I am off. We buy midfielders and not Right sided midfielders. Have you seen any club signing a Left sided midfielder OliRed?

27 Mar 2022 17:54:02
Bill

Silva has played a lot of positions for city. He has also played uptop on the right and left. Not just In midfield. If he misses out then its sheer presence of Thiago.
A midfield or Fab / KDB / Silva is a title winning. Period.

27 Mar 2022 19:43:40
To be fair we should listen to Harry’s opinions on City players, he supports them so presumably he watches them a lot.

27 Mar 2022 18:17:58
Oh it was great fun 666. Complete dislocation, shattering the end off my radius bone (smaller bone in the forearm), and completely snapping the lateral collateral ligament. It actually happened on the Cup Final Sunday morning. Surgeon finally pieced me back together last Monday as they had to come up with a reconstruction plan from x-rays and CT scans. Now have a metal end screwed to my bone, and a synthetic ligament holding my original together. It went well though so should get about 70-80% function back within 12 months if i stick to the physiotherapy plan. A&E Nurse said it was the worst dislocation she'd seen in her 30 year career! Makes you realise how much you take your basic functions for granted. There is also many people suffering a lot worse (Ukraine a prime example) so i'm grateful for what i do have and one thing i do have is a shed load of Codeine 😂.

{Ed0666's Note - you seem to be taking it in your stride made. Good for you The pertinent questions is was the nurse in A&E hot?

28 Mar 2022 01:19:12
She was a James Milner, 666. Solid 7/ 10 but past her prime.

{Ed0666's Note - I’d give her the best 3 seconds of her life and I haven’t even seen her!
