Ed001, would like to get your view on the following.
We clearly are going to sign a LB in the summer, whether it be Robertson or the hundreds of other LB's we are going to be linked with.
My question is, what do you think Milner will do in the summer. I cannot see him being a regular. He can play in attack, midfield and defence but do you believe he will be happy to be on the bench majority of the time? No point in playing him out wide on the left as he does not have a left peg and probably will not be getting ahead of Mane etc.
Do you think Milner will ask to leave?
{Ed001's Note - good question, it is certainly very possible as he does not want to play at left back anyway and it was only a stopgap for the season. He knows that was his only chance of getting a regular place in the team. I really can't see him staying for long.}

I can see him hanging around. Purely because when he leaves liverpool where does he go? Obviously the top 6 clubs don't need him so his next move would be a massive step down to a club like Everton or the like, and i assume he would still likely command big enough wages. I like him, he is a good pro, obviously not the most talented but there where times when i think he could have done a job on the right when Mane has been injured. I think there is place in the squad for an experienced pro.

Could Milner take up the Lucas role of a holding midfielder/ utility type player.
Although at this stage of his career he prbably feels that he needs to be playing regularly.
Maybe back at Newcastle or Leeds where he started out from .

Dermot, that was ten years ago if even. He played in midfield in the first half vs Stoke and we all saw what a crap show that was so no way, Milner cannot play in our midfield.
