If anything he would either take Lallana or Gini's place in midfield. We are not going to sign Keita based on him being second choice, especially not paying the fee his club would demand.
Can's new contract will also be based on playing time.
Are we going to spend a whackload on a CM whenthe need for improvement in our squad lies elsewhere?
I would rather blow half our budget on two competent fullbacks as we still have Grujic waiting for a chance which sees us with ample options for midfield including Coutinho and Hendo.

Definitely wouldn't take Ginis place.
The guy Klopp signed last summer for almost £30m and has had a great season finishing with most assists?

I really don't think anyone is taking anyones place - it's a squad game and will be even more so with Europe!
